Resumo Objetivo O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar como a diversidade, dominância e raridade da comunidade fitoplanctônica são influenciadas por diferentes condições ambientais locais em lagos urbanos. Nós esperamos que a riqueza será influenciada negativamente em lagos com maiores concentrações de nutrientes e maior turbidez, enquanto a abundância será influenciada positivamente. Assim, haverá uma maior dominância de poucas espécies e menor raridade em lagos com essas condições, sendo esperado o contrário em lagos com menores concentrações de nutrientes e menor turbidez. Métodos As amostras do fitoplâncton e das variáveis abióticas foram coletadas em quatorze lagos distribuídos no município de Goiânia, Goiás, Brasil, durante um período chuvoso. Resultados Foi possível identificar uma heterogeneidade ambiental entre os lagos. Nós identificamos uma separação dos lagos em função da riqueza e densidade fitoplanctônica, especialmente devido à contribuição de algas verdes, desmídias e cianobactérias. A maioria dos lagos apresentou altos valores de diversidade e equitabilidade, com predominância de táxons raros e poucas espécies dominantes. As principais variáveis que estiveram relacionadas com o fitoplâncton, foram a temperatura da água, oxigênio dissolvido, turbidez e as concentrações de nutrientes. Abstract Aim The aim of this study was to evaluate how phytoplankton community diversity, dominance, and rarity are influenced by different local environmental conditions in urban lakes. We expect that richness will be negatively influenced in lakes with higher nutrient concentrations and high turbidity, while abundance will be positively influenced. Thus, lakes with these conditions will have greater dominance of a few species and lower rarity, and the opposite in lakes with lower nutrient concentrations and less turbidity. Methods Phytoplankton and abiotic variables samples were collected in fourteen lakes distributed in the municipality of Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil, during a rainy period. Results It was possible to identify an environmental heterogeneity among the lakes. We identified a separation of the lakes according to phytoplankton richness and density, especially due to the contribution of green algae, desmids, and cyanobacteria. Most lakes showed high diversity and evenness values, with a predominance of rare taxa and few dominant species. The main variables associated with phytoplankton were water temperature, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and nutrient concentrations. Resumo O oligoqueta Dero lutzi possui uma estratégia de vida que alterna entre períodos de vida livre em ambientes aquáticos e fases endoparasitárias. A maioria das ocorrências de D. lutzi em anfíbios anuros é relatada em espécies com hábitos arborícolas, com estudos que se restringem a registros da presença do oligoqueta no hospedeiro. Este estudo recuperou espécimes de D. lutzi das pererecas Scinax fuscovarius e Scinax nasicus. Foi realizada uma avaliação morfológica do parasito por microscopia de luz e, pela primeira vez, por microscopia eletrônica de varredura. A caracterização molecular de D. lutzi foi realizada com o gene mitocondrial 16S rRNA e o gene nuclear 28S rRNA. Além disso, uma árvore filogenética foi construída para avaliar a posição da espécie em relação a outros membros do grupo. Os resultados deste estudo confirmaram as características morfológicas fenotípicas da fase endoparasitária de D. lutzi. Abstract The oligochaete Dero lutzi follows a life strategy that alternates between free-living periods in aquatic environments and endoparasitic phases. Most occurrences of D. lutzi in anurans are reported in species with arboreal habits, with studies limited to the recording of the oligochaete’s presence in the host. Our study recovered specimens of D. lutzi from the tree frogs Scinax fuscovarius and Scinax. nasicus. We performed a morphological assessment of the parasite using light microscopy, for the first time, scanning electron microscopy. Molecular characterization of D. lutzi was carried out using the mitochondrial gene 16S rRNA and the nuclear gene 28S rRNA. Additionally, a phylogenetic tree was constructed to assess the species´position in relation to other group members. In our results, we confirmed the phenotypic morphological characteristics of the endoparasitic phase of D. lutzi. RESUMO Contexto: Em estudos observacionais sobre a síndrome do desconforto respiratório agudo, sugeriu-se que a driving pressure é o principal fator de lesão pulmonar induzida por ventilador e de mortalidade. Não está claro se uma estratégia de limitação da driving pressure pode melhorar os desfechos clínicos. Objetivo: Descrever o protocolo e o plano de análise estatística que serão usados para testar se uma estratégia de limitação da driving pressure envolvendo a titulação da pressão positiva expiratória final de acordo com a melhor complacência respiratória e a redução do volume corrente é superior a uma estratégia padrão envolvendo o uso da tabela de pressão positiva expiratória final baixa do protocolo ARDSNet, em termos de aumento do número de dias sem ventilador em pacientes com síndrome do desconforto respiratório agudo devido à pneumonia adquirida na comunidade. Métodos: O estudo STAMINA (ventilator STrAtegy for coMmunIty acquired pNeumoniA) é randomizado, multicêntrico e aberto e compara uma estratégia de limitação da driving pressure com a tabela de pressão positiva expiratória final baixa do protocolo ARDSnet em pacientes com síndrome do desconforto respiratório agudo moderada a grave devido à pneumonia adquirida na comunidade internados em unidades de terapia intensiva. Esperamos recrutar 500 pacientes de 20 unidades de terapia intensiva brasileiras e duas colombianas. Eles serão randomizados para um grupo da estratégia de limitação da driving pressure ou para um grupo de estratégia padrão usando a tabela de pressão positiva expiratória final baixa do protocolo ARDSnet. No grupo da estratégia de limitação da driving pressure, a pressão positiva expiratória final será titulada de acordo com a melhor complacência do sistema respiratório. Desfechos: O desfecho primário é o número de dias sem ventilador em 28 dias. Os desfechos secundários são a mortalidade hospitalar e na unidade de terapia intensiva e a necessidade de terapias de resgate, como suporte de vida extracorpóreo, manobras de recrutamento e óxido nítrico inalado. ABSTRACT Background: Driving pressure has been suggested to be the main driver of ventilator-induced lung injury and mortality in observational studies of acute respiratory distress syndrome. Whether a driving pressure-limiting strategy can improve clinical outcomes is unclear. Objective: To describe the protocol and statistical analysis plan that will be used to test whether a driving pressure-limiting strategy including positive end-expiratory pressure titration according to the best respiratory compliance and reduction in tidal volume is superior to a standard strategy involving the use of the ARDSNet low-positive end-expiratory pressure table in terms of increasing the number of ventilator-free days in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome due to community-acquired pneumonia. Methods: The ventilator STrAtegy for coMmunIty acquired pNeumoniA (STAMINA) study is a randomized, multicenter, open-label trial that compares a driving pressure-limiting strategy to the ARDSnet low-positive end-expiratory pressure table in patients with moderate-to-severe acute respiratory distress syndrome due to community-acquired pneumonia admitted to intensive care units. We expect to recruit 500 patients from 20 Brazilian and 2 Colombian intensive care units. They will be randomized to a driving pressure-limiting strategy group or to a standard strategy using the ARDSNet low-positive end-expiratory pressure table. In the driving pressure-limiting strategy group, positive end-expiratory pressure will be titrated according to the best respiratory system compliance. Outcomes: The primary outcome is the number of ventilator-free days within 28 days. The secondary outcomes are in-hospital and intensive care unit mortality and the need for rescue therapies such as extracorporeal life support, recruitment maneuvers and inhaled nitric oxide. Resumo Introdução A manutenção da saúde bucal em pacientes internados é essencial, especialmente para evitar complicações decorrentes da doença periodontal, que não apenas afetam a saúde bucal, mas também podem agravar problemas sistêmicos durante a hospitalização. Objetivo: Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o conhecimento da equipe de enfermagem em relação ao manejo da doença periodontal e sua associação com doenças sistêmicas. Material e método Este estudo observacional transversal foi conduzido em um hospital geral de referência do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) do Brasil. Um total de 504 profissionais de enfermagem completaram um questionário autoaplicável com 24 questões, abordando procedimentos de cuidados bucais e a importância da saúde bucal em pacientes hospitalizados. Os dados foram analisados por meio de análise descritiva e teste qui-quadrado (α = 0,05). Resultado A maioria dos entrevistados (97,8%) acreditava que infecções bucais podem afetar a saúde geral do paciente e que a higiene bucal é importante durante a hospitalização. No entanto, foram identificados déficits de conhecimento. O efeito oral da doença periodontal foi considerado moderado por 49,3% dos participantes, e 74,6% acreditavam que o açúcar era a causa mais comum da doença periodontal. Conclusão Profissionais de enfermagem reconhecem a importância da manutenção da higiene bucal e a relação entre doença periodontal e doenças sistêmicas. No entanto, seu conhecimento prático em higiene bucal é limitado. Abstract Introduction The maintenance of oral health in inpatients is essential, particularly to avoid complications arising from periodontal disease, which not only affect oral health but can also exacerbate systemic issues during hospitalization. Objective: This study aimed to assess nursing staff’s knowledge regarding the management of periodontal disease and its association with systemic diseases. Material and method This cross-sectional observational study was conducted in a general referral hospital of the Brazilian National Health System (SUS). A total of 504 nursing professionals completed a self-administered 24-item questionnaire on relating to oral care procedures and the importance of oral health in hospitalized patients. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and the chi-squared test (α = 0.05). Result Most respondents (97.8%) believed that oral infections can affect a patient's general health and that oral hygiene is important during hospitalization. However, knowledge deficits were identified. The oral effect of periodontal disease was considered moderate by 49.3% of the participants, and 74.6% believed that sugar was the most common cause of periodontal disease. Resumo Objetivos Realizar o cognitive debriefing e testar a fidedignidade do Non-Communicative Patient’s Pain Instrument (NOPPAIN). Métodos Estudo metodológico de verificação do NOPPAIN (versão brasileira) adaptado à cultura brasileira. Cognitive debriefing: participaram 56 profissionais de saúde e cuidadores; sua tarefa foi avaliar e fazer sugestões sobre a equivalência e adequação do NOPPAIN-Br. A versão final, intitulada “NOPPAIN-Versão brasileira” foi submetida a um Comitê de Especialistas (n=8). Foi calculado o Índice de Validade de Conteúdo. Para testar a fidedignidade três observadores aplicaram a nova versão do NOPPAIN em uma amostra (n=171) de pessoas idosas com demência e comunicação prejudicada onde foi calculada a concordância interobservadores - KAPPA. Resultados O NOPPAIN-Br foi alterado em palavras tais como: “não comunicativo”, “enfermeiro”, “deve fazer” e “paciente”. A equivalência da nova versão com o instrumento original foi reforçada (IVC>0,80). A concordância entre observadores foi quase perfeita para a “Lista de Verificação de Atividades I” (Kappa>0,80), “Comportamentos de dor II: Presença” (Kappa>0,80) e “Comportamentos de dor III: Intensidade” (Kappa>0,80; ICCsingle>0,75). Foi observada evidência de alta confiabilidade (ICC single>0,75) para todas subescalas do instrumento e pontuação total. A melhor concordância foi para intensidade geral da dor (ICCsingle 0,97). Conclusão O NOPPAIN-Br é equivalente ao instrumento original e fidedigno, podendo ser disponibilizado para novas pesquisas e avaliação da dor em brasileiros com demência e comunicação prejudicada. Abstract Objectives To perform cognitive debriefing and test the Non-Communicative Patient’s Pain Instrument (NOPPAIN) reliability. Methods This is a methodological study to verify NOPPAIN adapted to the Brazilian culture. Cognitive debriefing: 56 healthcare professionals and caregivers participated; its task was to assess and make suggestions about NOPPAIN-Br equivalence and adequacy. The final version entitled “NOPPAIN-Versão brasileira” was submitted to a committee of experts (n=8). The Content Validity Index was calculated. To test reliability, three observers applied the new version of NOPPAIN to a sample (n=171) of older adults with dementia and impaired communication where interobserver agreement was calculated - KAPPA. Results NOPPAIN-Br was changed in words such as “não comunicativo”, “enfermeiro”, “deve fazer” and “paciente”. The equivalence of the new version with the original instrument was reinforced (CVI>0.80). Interobserver agreement was almost perfect for “Activity Checklist I” (Kappa>0.80), “Pain Behaviors II: Presence” (Kappa>0.80) and “Pain Behaviors III: Intensity” (Kappa>0.80; ICCsingle>0.75). Evidence of high reliability (ICCsingle>0.75) was observed for all subscales of the instrument and total score. The best agreement was for general pain intensity (ICCsingle 0.97). Resumen Objetivos Realizar el cognitive debriefing y verificar la fiabilidad del Non-Communicative Patient’s Pain Instrument (NOPPAIN). Métodos Estudio metodológico de verificación del NOPPAIN (versión brasileña) adaptado a la cultura brasileña. Cognitive debriefing: participaron 56 profesionales de la salud y cuidadores, cuya función fue evaluar y realizar sugerencias sobre la equivalencia y la adaptación del NOPPAIN-Br. La versión final, titulada “NOPPAIN-Versión brasileña”, fue sometida a un Comité de Especialistas (n=8). Se calculó el Índice de Validez de Contenido. Para verificar la fiabilidad, tres observadores aplicaron la nueva versión del NOPPAIN en una muestra (n=171) de personas mayores con demencia y deterioro de la comunicación, donde se calculó la concordancia entre observadores - KAPPA. Resultados Se modificaron algunas palabras en el NOPPAIN-Br, tales como “no comunicativo”, “enfermero”, “debe hacer” y “paciente”. La equivalencia entre la nueva versión y el instrumento original fue reforzada (IVC>0,80). La concordancia entre observadores fue casi perfecta en la “Lista de verificación de actividades I” (Kappa>0,80), “Comportamientos de dolor II: presencia” (Kappa>0,80) y “Comportamientos de dolor III: intensidad” (Kappa>0,80; ICCsingle>0,75). Se observó evidencia de alta fiabilidad (ICC single>0,75) en todas las subescalas del instrumento y en el puntaje total. La mejor concordancia fue en la intensidad general del dolor (ICCsingle 0,97). Resumo Introdução: As doenças respiratórias agudas apresentam difícil mensuração e contribuem para o grande número de causas de óbito mal definidas, o que afeta a confiabilidade das informações de mortalidade. Objetivo: Verificar a acurácia da definição da causa básica de óbito para doenças respiratórias agudas dos óbitos registrados no Sistema de Informações sobre Mortalidade do Distrito Federal em 2018. Método: Foi realizado um estudo de acurácia, com amostra mínima de 331 declarações de óbito com as causas de óbito do capítulo 10 (doenças do aparelho respiratório — J00-J99 — conforme subcategorias) da Classificação Internacional de Doenças na versão 10, considerando a definição de causa básica de óbito pela equipe de investigação como o padrão-ouro. Foram calculadas a sensibilidade, especificidade, valores preditivos positivo e negativo e as razões de verossimilhanças positivas e negativas com os respectivos intervalos de confiança a 95%. Resultados: Total de 396 declarações de óbito foram incluídas. Foi constatada alta sensibilidade para identificar doenças pulmonares agudas nas causas básicas de óbito (82,8%. IC95% 78,6–86,5) e alta especificidade (93,1%. IC95% 77,2–99,2). A probabilidade de a declaração apresentar resultado falso negativo foi baixa (0,2. IC95% 0,1–0,2). Abstract Background: Acute respiratory diseases are difficult to measure and contribute to a large number of ill-defined causes of death, which affects the reliability of mortality information. Objective: To verify the accuracy of the definition of the underlying cause of death for acute respiratory diseases registered in the Mortality Information System of the Federal District in 2018. Method: An accuracy study was conducted, with a minimum sample of 331 death certificates with the causes of death according to Chapter 10 (diseases of the respiratory system — J00-J99 — according to subcategories) of the International Classification of Diseases, version 10, considering the definition of the underlying cause of death by the research team as the gold standard. Sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values, and positive and negative likelihood ratios were calculated with their respective 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: Overall, 396 death certificates were included. High sensitivity was identified to determine acute lung diseases in the underlying cause of death (82.8%, 95%CI 78.6–86.5) and high specificity (93.1%, 95%CI 77.2–99.2). The probability of the declaration shows that negative false value was low (0.2, 95%CI 0.1–0.2). Aim This study was performed to compare two different rat defect models (critical calvaria defects versus guided bone regeneration in the mandibular ramus) used to evaluate bone repair in grafted areas. Methods A total of 12 rats were allocated in two groups according the experimental model used to evaluate the bone repair in grafted areas: a critical sized-calvaria defect of 5 mm filled with bone graft (n=6) and a mandibular ramus filled with the bone graft associated with a Teflon dome-shaped membrane (n=6). Both groups were grafted with deproteinized bovine bone graft. After 60 days, the animals were euthanized and the samples obtained were submitted to histomorphometry analysis to evaluate the relative amount of bone, remaining bone substitute, and soft tissue within the grafted areas. Results No differences were observed between the preclinical models evaluated in relation to the amount of bone tissue formation (19.93 ± 4.55% in calvaria vs. 21.00 ± 8.20% in mandible). However, there was a smaller amount of soft tissue (43.20 ± 10.97% vs. 57.79 ± 7.61 %; p<0.01) and a greater amount of bone substitute remaining (35.80 ± 5.52% vs. 22.28 ± 4.36 %; p<0.05) in the grafted areas in the mandible compared to calvaria defect. ABSTRACT Background: Converting açaí waste fibers into kraft pulp and paper demands high amounts of preserved fibers. Manual removal preserves the fibers, but mechanical methods are faster. Therefore, this work aimed to compare three methods to extract açaí fibers from the seed’s surface concerning efficiency and fiber quality for cellulose pulping. Results: Açaí waste fibers have ≈ 34 % of cellulose and ≈ 61% of non-cellulose structural components (based on extractive free mass) and ≈ 6% of non-structural extractives and ashes (based on total mass). They occur united into bundles that dissociate into short (388 µm) fiber cells. Their pulp-paper quality indexes were aspect ratio (31.8-41.2), wall fraction (52.8 %), flexibility coefficient (47.2 %), boiler index (0.6), Runkel index (1.2), and Mulsteph index (0.8). The manual removal preserved the fibers but had the lowest efficiency (0.1 g/min). The food processor provided intermediate preservation of the fibers and efficiency (0.5 g/min). Despite the highest efficiency (3.9 g/min) of the hammer mill method, the friction with the hammers damaged the fibers and increased the levels of extractives from 4 to 8% and hemicelluloses from 34 to 40%. Conclusion: Açaí waste fiber bundles are dissociable into short fibers and have a favorable chemistry for kraft pulping and developing cellulose products. The fiber morphology is not ideal, but not limiting, demanding adjustments in the future kraft pulping parameters. The extraction of the fiber by the food processor is recommended, which is manageable to the local communities to support an integrated bioeconomy of the açaí waste. Resumo O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar os efeitos de diferentes protocolos de raspagem na morfologia e rugosidade do substrato de dentina radicular exposto à radiação ionizante. Cento e trinta incisivos bovinos extraídos foram divididos aleatoriamente em dois grupos (n = 65): não irradiados (NIR) e irradiados (IR). Cada grupo foi subdividido em seis subgrupos de acordo com o tipo de protocolo periodontal não cirúrgico: NIT: sem instrumentação; NIT/PP: profilaxia com pasta profilática fina usando uma taça de borracha por 15 segundos; HS: raspagem manual com 15 movimentos de instrumento apical-coronal; HS/PP: raspagem manual seguida de protocolo de profilaxia; US: raspagem ultrassônica com 15 ciclos apical-coronais; US/PP: raspagem ultrassônica seguida de protocolo de profilaxia. A rugosidade da superfície da dentina radicular foi medida com um perfilômetro (Ra/Rz - μm) e a morfologia das superfícies da dentina foi analisada usando microscopia eletrônica de varredura (SEM). Na ausência de profilaxia, as superfícies mais ásperas foram observadas após a instrumentação ultrassônica seguida de instrumentação manual para ambos os grupos IR e NIR. Não foi observada diferença nos valores de Ra e RZ entre HS/PP e US/PP para ambos os substratos. Para o grupo IR, a profilaxia resultou em valores de Ra e RZ semelhantes para ambos os grupos de instrumentação em comparação com a ausência de instrumentação. A regressão logística ordinal mostrou que tanto HS quanto US resultaram em escores mais altos do que NIT, independentemente da presença de IR. Em conclusão, o IR apresentou uma superfície radicular mais áspera para ambos os HS e US em comparação com o NIR. Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different scaling protocols on the morphology and roughness of the root dentin substrate exposure to ionizing radiation. One hundred and thirty extracted bovine incisors were randomly divided into two groups (n=65): non-irradiated (NIR) and irradiated (IR). Each group was initially subdivided into three subgroups according to the type of non-surgical periodontal protocol: NIT: no instrumentation; HS: hand scaling with 15 apical-coronal instrument movements; US: ultrasonic scaling with 15 apical-coronal cycles. Subsequently, all samples were subjected to the prophylaxis protocol, being subdivided into the following groups: NIT/PP: prophylaxis with a fine prophylactic paste using a rubber cup for 15 seconds; HS/PP: Hand scaling followed by the prophylaxis protocol; US/PP: Ultrasonic scaling followed by the prophylaxis protocol. The roughness of the root dentin surface was measured with a profilometer (Ra/Rz - μm), and the morphology of the dentin surfaces was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The analyses were conducted before and after the prophylaxis protocol. In the absence of prophylaxis, the roughest surfaces were observed after ultrasonic instrumentation followed by hand instrumentation for both IR and NIR groups. No difference in Ra and RZ values between HS/PP and US/PP was observed for both substrates. For the IR group, the prophylaxis resulted in similar Ra and RZ values for both instrumentation groups in comparison to no instrumentation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of a single dose of ionizing radiation (30 Gy) on the osseointegration of implants in the rabbit tibia. Twenty rabbits received two dental Morse-tapered junction implants and one implant in each tibia. The animals were randomly divided into two groups (n=10), non-irradiated (NoIr) and irradiated (Ir), wherein the Ir group received a single dose of 30 Gy radiation 2 weeks after implant installation. Microtomographic analyses (BV/TV) and histomorphometric assessments (BIC and BABT) were performed 4 weeks after implant installation. One-way ANOVA, Tukey's test, and Student's t-test (α=0.05) were used for data analysis. The results showed that BV/TV did not differ significantly between the Ir and NoIr groups (P = 0.071). In the histomorphometric analysis, neither BIC nor BABT showed significant differences between the NoIr and Ir groups (p>0.05). In conclusion, ionizing radiation in dental implants does not appear to interfere with osseointegration when installed prior to irradiation. Abstract This study aimed to investigate whether two acquisition parameters, voxel size and filter thickness, used in a micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) scan, together with the examiner’s experience, influence the outcome of bone repair analysis in an experimental model. Bone defects were created in rat tibiae and scanned using two voxel sizes of 6- or 12-µm and two aluminum filter thickness of 0.5- or 1-mm. Then, bone volume fraction (BV/TV) and trabecular thickness (Tb.Th) were analyzed twice by two groups of operators: experienced and inexperienced examiners. For BV/TV, no significant differences were found between scanning voxel sizes of 6 and 12 µm for the experienced examiners; however, for the inexperienced examiners, the analysis performed using a 12-µm voxel size resulted in higher BV/TV values (32.4 and 32.9) than those acquired using a 6-µm voxel size (25.4 and 24.8) (p < 0.05). For Tb.Th, no significant differences between the analyses performed by experienced and inexperienced groups were observed when using the 6-µm voxel size. However, inexperienced examiners’ analysis revealed higher Tb.Th values when using the 12-µm voxel size compared with 6 µm (0.05 vs. 0.03, p < 0.05). Filter thickness had no influence on the results of any group. In conclusion, voxel size and operator experience affected the measured Tb.Th and BV/TV of a region with new bone formation. Operator experience in micro-CT analysis is more critical for BV/TV than for Tb.Th, whereas voxel size significantly affects Tb.Th evaluation. Aim To discuss important topics regarding the dental procedures performed in patients before, during and after the radiotherapy treatment. The biological effects of ionizing radiation on bone tissue focusing on clinical care will be described. The invasive and not invasive procedures after radiotherapy treatment in the head and neck region will be addressed using scientific evidences to determine the appropriate moment for tooth extractions, periodontal management, and preventive procedures for osteoradionecrosis. Methods Thirty-three studies including original studies and reviews were selected in MEDLINE database (PubMed). No year of publication restriction was applied. Language was restricted to the English, and the following Medical Subject Heading terms were used: radiotherapy, osteoradionecrosis, dental management. Studies of osteoradionecrosis involving clinical management of irradiated patients, with an emphasis on updated guidelines and protocols were selected. Results Care in dental procedures were related about restorative treatment, endodontic treatment, rehabilitation for edentulous regions using prostheses and implants and periodontal procedures before, during and after RTX treatment. Conclusions The dental procedures should and can be performed before, during but also after radiotherapy. However, the clinical procedures should be less invasive as possible. ABSTRACT Background: SARS-CoV-2 virus originated in Wuhan (China) in December (2019) and quickly spread worldwide. Antigen tests are rapid diagnostic tests (RDT) that produce results in 15-30 min and are an important tool for the scale-up of COVID-19 testing. COVID-19 diagnostic tests are authorized for self-testing at home in some countries, including Brazil. Widespread COVID-19 diagnostic testing is required to guide public health policies and control the speed of transmission and economic recovery. Methods: Patients with suspected COVID-19 were recruited at the Hospital da Baleia (Belo Horizonte, Brazil). The SARS-CoV-2 antigen-detecting rapid diagnostic tests were evaluated from June 2020 to June 2021 using saliva, nasal, and nasopharyngeal swab samples from 609 patients. Patient samples were simultaneously tested using a molecular assay (RT-qPCR). Sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and positive and negative predictive values were determined using the statistical program, MedCalc, and GraphPad Prism 8.0. Results: The antigen-detecting rapid diagnostic tests displayed 98% specificity, 60% sensitivity, 96% positive predictive value, and moderate concordance with RT-qPCR. Substantial agreement was found between the two methods for patients tested < 7 days of symptom onset. Conclusions: Our findings support the use of Ag-RDT as a valuable and safe diagnostic method. Ag-RDT was also demonstrated to be an important triage tool for suspected COVID-19 patients in emergencies. Overall, Ag-RDT is an effective strategy for reducing the spread of SARS-CoV-2 and contributing to COVID-19 control. RESUMO A paralisia cerebral é uma encefalopatia crônica, que afeta o funcionamento familiar, alterando a rotina e o bem-estar de todos. A intensa rotina de cuidados pode acarretar estresse e afetar a autoeficácia parental. Assim sendo, objetivou-se, neste artigo, avaliar a possível associação entre estresse e autoeficácia em pais de crianças com paralisia cerebral. Participaram do estudo 81 pais de crianças com até 12 anos de idade. Utilizaram-se o inventário sociodemográfico, a escala de classificação funcional motora grossa, o Índice de Estresse Parental e a Escala de autoeficácia. A Técnica de Análise de Correspondência também foi usada. Altos níveis de autoeficácia foram associados a baixos índices de estresse nos domínios sofrimento parental [2.33 (98.00)] e interação disfuncional pai e filho [1.12 (73.54)]. ABSTRACT Cerebral palsy is a chronic encephalopathy that affects family functioning, altering everyone’s routine and well-being. The intense care routine can lead to stress and affect parental self-efficacy. Thus, the aim of this article was to evaluate the possible association between stress and self-efficacy in parents of children with cerebral palsy. Eighty-one parents of children up to 12 years old participated in the study. The sociodemographic inventory, the gross motor functional rating scale, the parental stress index and the self-efficacy scale were used. The Correspondence Analysis Technique was also used. High levels of self-efficacy were associated with low levels of stress in the domains of parental distress [2.33 (98.00)] and dysfunctional parent-child interaction [1.12 (73.54)]. Resumo: Este artigo apresenta o resultado de uma pesquisa que analisou o engajamento docente em projetos envolvendo a robótica educacional. Após a identificação dos projetos, dois questionários foram elaborados tomando como base as dimensões da escala de professores engajados, com adaptações. Os dados foram analisados usando a técnica da Análise de Conteúdo. Como resultados, identificamos cinco categorias de engajamento docente: incentivo cognitivo ao estudante; envolvimento emocional; envolvimento cognitivo; comunicação direta com colegas de trabalho e incentivo ao protagonismo estudantil. Os resultados evidenciaram que o engajamento docente pode ser identificado quando existem colaboração com a aprendizagem, sentimento de satisfação, encantamento e entusiasmo, envolvimento cognitivo, parceria com os colegas e planejamento das atividades focando a atuação significativa do estudante. Abstract: This article presents the results of research that analyzed teacher engagement in projects involving educational robotics. After identifying the projects, two questionnaires were prepared based on the dimensions of the Engaged Teachers scale, with adaptations. Data were analyzed using the Content Analysis technique. As a result, we identified five categories of teacher engagement: cognitive incentive to the student; emotional involvement; cognitive engagement; direct communication with co-workers and fostering student protagonism. The results show that teacher engagement can be found when there is collaboration with learning, a feeling of satisfaction, enchantment and enthusiasm, cognitive involvement, partnership with colleagues, and planning of activities focusing on student meaningful performance.
