The essential oil extracted from Anemia tomentosa (EOAT) has shown larvicidal potential against Aedes aegypti, based on methods in vitro and in silico. Chromatographic and spectrometric techniques (gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (CG-MS), gas chromatography-flame ionization detector (GC-FID)), as well as mono and bidimensional nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) were used to assess 10 essential oil components. Chemical composition of essential oil comprised 87.51% sesquiterpenes, with emphasis on presilphiperfolan-1-ol (42.13%) and silphiperfol-5-ene (19.47%). Larvicidal assay conducted in vitro with EOAT has evidenced potential cytotoxic activity up to 48 h exposure to it; mortality rate observed for A. aegypti larvae exposed to essential oil reached 100%. Study conducted in silico with chemical compounds deriving from the herein investigated plant species has evidenced its potential to inhibit acetylcholinesterase in A. aegypti. Activity of triquinane sesquiterpenes ranging from -6.8 to -8.2 kcal mol-1 stood out in comparison to that of temephos (-7.5 kcal mol-1). ABSTRACT Purpose: This study aimed to characterize retinitis pigmentosa associated with the eyes shut homolog gene, which causes hereditary retinal degeneration. Methods: The anatomical and functional findings of retinitis pigmentosa in patients with variants of the eyes shut homolog gene were characterized and compared using multimodal imaging and genetic analysis of the variants. Clinical data such as visual acuity, lens status, and refraction were obtained from medical records. Patients underwent an ophthalmic examination, including static visual field, microperimetry, optical coherence tomography, fundus autofluorescence, and fundus photography. Results: Twenty-two patients were included in the study. Several anatomical and functional characteristics of retinitis pigmentosa-eyes shut homolog were identified, including the presence of cataracts, cystoid macular edema, epiretinal membrane, and a tubular visual field. Genetic results revealed 26 distinct variants in the cohort, with 7 novel variants not previously documented or reported in the scientific literature or databases. Conclusion: The findings demonstrate that eyes shut homolog-retinitis pigmentosa manifests in specific patterns, starting in adolescence with mild progression and advancing with age. RESUMO: Oitocentas e sessenta frangas Embrapa 051 foram alocadas em três grupos de peso corporal às 19 semanas (pesadas: 1,48 kg ± 0,01 DP, N= 172 aves, médias: 1,32 kg ± 0,039 DP, N= 516 aves, leves: 1,19 kg ± 0,019 DP, N=172 aves) e alojadas em piso com ninhos por 65 semanas. ABSTRACT: A total of 860 Embrapa 051 pullets were allocated into three groups based on their 19-week body weights (heavy: 1.48 kg ± 0.01 SD, N= 172 birds, medium: 1.32 kg ± 0.039 SD, N= 516 birds, light: 1.19 kg ± 0.019 SD, N=172 birds) and housed in floor pens with nests for a 65-week production period. Heavy-weight birds exhibited higher egg production during weeks 24-28, while medium-weight hens surpassed heavy-weight counterparts between weeks 41-46, and light-weight hens outperformed heavy-weight birds in weeks 61-65. From weeks 57-65, no significant egg production differences were noted between heavy and medium-weight hens. Resumo Enquadramento: A participação da equipe de enfermagem nas intervenções educativas utilizando a metodologia da problematização melhora o conhecimento teórico, reduzindo o número de cateteres retirados precocemente. Objetivo: Avaliar o efeito da intervenção educativa na equipa de enfermagem na unidade de terapia intensiva pediátrica na melhoria do conhecimento teórico sobre a prevenção de complicações que ocasionam a remoção não eletiva do cateter central de inserção periférica. Metodologia: Estudo quase-experimental com aplicação de questionário antes e após intervenção educativa, com aplicação do teste t de Student Pareado, considerando-se o nível de significância de 95% e os valores de p < 0,05 significativos. Resultados: Aumento do conhecimento teórico após intervenção, com aumento da média da pontuação dos técnicos em enfermagem de 5,30 (DP = 1,49) para 9,10 (DP = 1,79) e enfermeiros de 11,83 (DP = 2,12) para 20,67 (DP = 2,46). Conclusão: Espera-se que esse conhecimento teórico sobre a prevenção de complicações se efetive no ato de cuidar, promovendo a melhoria da prática de manutenção e, consequentemente, redução das perdas prematuras do cateter.

Abstract Background: The nursing team’s participation in educational interventions using the problematization methodology improves theoretical knowledge, reducing the number of catheters removed early. Objective: To evaluate the effect of an educational intervention on the nursing team of a pediatric intensive care unit in improving theoretical knowledge about the prevention of complications resulting from the unplanned removal of peripherally inserted central catheters. Methodology: A quasi-experimental study was conducted using a questionnaire before and after the educational intervention. The paired Student’s t-test was applied, with a significance level of 95% and a p-value of p < 0.05. Results: Theoretical knowledge increased significantly after the educational intervention. The mean score for nursing technicians increased from 5.30 (SD = 1.49) to 9.10 (SD = 1.79), while the mean score for nurses increased from 11.83 (SD = 2.12) to 20.67 (SD = 2.46). Conclusion: The theoretical knowledge about the prevention of complications should be used to improve catheter maintenance practices and reduce premature catheter loss.

Resumen Marco contextual: La participación del equipo en la acción educativa, problematizando su realidad profesional, mejora los conocimientos teóricos, lo que permite reducir el número de catéteres retirados prematuramente. Objetivo: Evaluar el efecto de una intervención educativa para el equipo de enfermería de una unidad de cuidados intensivos pediátricos para mejorar los conocimientos teóricos sobre la prevención de las complicaciones que causan la retirada no electiva del catéter central de inserción periférica. Metodología: Estudio cuasiexperimental mediante cuestionario antes y después de la intervención educativa, con aplicación de la prueba t Student Pareado, considerando un nivel de significación del 95% y valores p < 0,05 como significativos. Resultados: Aumento del conocimiento teórico tras la intervención educativa, con un aumento de la puntuación media de los técnicos de enfermería de 5,30 (DP = 1,49) para 9,10 (DP = 1,79) y dos enfermeros de 11,83 (DP = 2,12) para 20,67 (DP = 2,46). Abstract: Role overload in the family can be understood as a feeling of inability to complete duties that are the individual's responsibility, and this hardship occurs due to the accumulation of tasks in the family, which can cause discomfort. The aim of this study was to obtain valid evidence of Family Role Overload in Brazilian samples. Six hundred and forty Brazilian workers of both genders took part in the study. Confirmatory factor analyses showed that the Brazilian version remained single-factor and had six items. The multi-group analyses showed configural, metric, and scalar invariance between the groups divided in terms of gender and the existence or absence of children. The scale showed positive correlations with perceived family demands and family-work conflict and a negative correlation with perceived social support in the family. It was therefore concluded that the instrument had psychometric properties that recommend its use in future research.

Resumo: A sobrecarga de papeis na família pode ser compreendida como sentimento de incapacidade em concluir obrigações que são de responsabilidade do indivíduo, e essa dificuldade acontece devido ao acúmulo de tarefas na família, que podem trazer desconforto. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo obter evidências de validade da Sobrecarga de Papéis na Família em amostras brasileiras. Participaram do estudo 640 trabalhadores brasileiros, de ambos os gêneros. As análises fatoriais confirmatórias evidenciaram que a versão brasileira se manteve unifatorial e com seis itens. As análises multigrupo atestaram a invariância configural, métrica e escalar entre os grupos divididos em termos de gênero e sobre a presença ou ausência de filhos. A escala apresentou correlações positivas com demandas percebidas da família e conflito família-trabalho e correlação negativa com suporte social percebido na família. Concluiu-se, assim, que o instrumento apresentou propriedades psicométricas que recomendam seu uso em investigações futuras.

Resumen: La sobrecarga de rol en la familia puede ser entendida como un sentimiento de incapacidad para completar las obligaciones que son responsabilidad del individuo, y esta dificultad ocurre debido a la acumulación de tareas en la familia, lo que puede causar malestar. El objetivo de este estudio fue obtener evidencias de la validez de la Escala de Sobrecarga del Rol Familiar en muestras brasileñas. Participaron en el estudio 640 trabajadores brasileños de ambos sexos. Los análisis factoriales confirmatorios mostraron que la versión brasileña se mantuvo monofactorial y con seis ítems. Los análisis multigrupo mostraron invariancia configuracional, métrica y escalar entre los grupos divididos en función del género y de la presencia o ausencia de hijos. La escala mostró correlaciones positivas con las demandas familiares percibidas y el conflicto familia-trabajo y una correlación negativa con el apoyo social percibido en la familia. Por lo tanto, se concluyó que el instrumento posee propiedades psicométricas que recomiendan su uso en futuras investigaciones.

Resumo As mulheres portadoras de doença renal crônica apresentam menor probabilidade de engravidar e são mais propensas a complicações gestacionais quando comparadas a pacientes com função renal normal, sendo, portanto, consideradas gestantes de alto risco materno e fetal. Abstract Women with chronic kidney disease are less likely to become pregnant and are more susceptible to pregnancy complications when compared to patients with normal kidney function. ABSTRACT Risk behaviours in adolescence have a short- and long-term impact on health. Analysing health data from the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) countries can strengthen surveillance and support public policies. To compare the prevalence of health indicators among adolescents in Mercosur countries. A descriptive study was conducted using data from the Global School-based Student Health Survey in Argentina (2018), Paraguay (2017), and Uruguay (2019), as well as from the National Survey of School Health in Brazil (2015 and 2019). Prevalence and 95% confidence intervals of indicators were analysed for the total adolescent population and by gender. Alcohol experimentation before the age of 14 was higher in Argentina, while drunkenness was higher in Brazil. Current cigarette smoking and any tobacco product use were higher in Argentina. Regular physical activity was lower in Brazil. Sedentary behaviour was higher in Uruguay. Brazil had the lowest condom use at last sexual intercourse. There were differences in health risk behaviours among adolescents in the studied countries. These results can assist governmental entities in these countries in promoting the exchange of best practices.

Abstract The objective of this study was to examine the impact of a high-fat finishing diet on the in vivo performance, anatomical and carcass characteristics, and meat quality of adult culled goats. Over a period of 28 days leading up to slaughter, eighteen adult culled goats were subjected to a finishing diet provided in quantities sufficient to meet 3.0 times the nutritional requirements of adult non-dairy maintenance goats. The female goats were divided into two groups: one fed with the baseline diet without fat supplementation (n = 9) and the other fed a diet concentrated supplemented with whole full-fat linseed (n = 9). The diets varied in fat content (2.8% vs. 8.4% DM). The high-fat group exhibited a higher dry matter intake compared to the control group (+37%), along with elevated plasma cholesterol and triglyceride levels. The control group experienced a significant decrease in daily weight gain between the second and final week of the finishing period (-70%), in contrast to the increase observed in the high-fat group (+59%). At slaughter, no differences were noted between the groups in anatomical and carcass characteristics. Additionally, no differences were found between the diets regarding proximate composition, pH, yellow color component, and lightness of loin. The high-fat group exhibited a higher redness of loin. The inclusion of high-fat levels in finishing diets for culled adult goats allows for increased feed intake and performance but does not appear to affect carcass or meat quality.

Abstract Objective: This study evaluates the association between fiber intake and obesity in Brazilian adolescents, according to sex and having meals with parents/guardians. Methods: We used data from the Study on Cardiovascular Risks in Adolescents (ERICA) (12-17 years), a cross-sectional study conducted between 2013 and 2014 in all cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants. Obesity was classified based on World Health Organization criteria for BMI. Fiber intake was obtained from a 24-hour dietary recall, and the following values were considered adequate: for males, ≥25g/day (aged 9-13 years) and ≥31g/day (aged 14-17 years); for females, ≥22g/day (aged 9-13 years) and ≥25g/day (aged 14-17 years). The categories for lunch and dinner with parents/guardians were “never/rarely/sometimes” versus “every day/almost every day”. Poisson regression models were used to examine the associations between obesity and fiber intake adjusted for covariates and stratified by sex and meals. Results: 69,627 adolescents were evaluated, 50.2% male and mean age 14.4 years (SD=1,6). A lower prevalence of obesity was observed in adolescents with adequate fiber intake who had lunch “every day/almost every day” (females: PR=0.51; 95%CI: 0.36-0.72; males: PR=0.59; 95%CI: 0.42-0.82) and dinner with their parents/guardians (females: PR=0.48; 95%CI: 0.35-0.65; males: PR=0.58; 95%CI: 0.42-0.78). Conclusion: Adolescents who frequently had meals with their parents/guardians and reported adequate fiber consumption had a lower prevalence of obesity.

Se observó una menor prevalencia de obesidad en los adolescentes con una ingesta adecuada de fibra y que almorzaban “todos los días/casi todos los días” (mujeres: PR=0,51; IC95%: 0,36-0,72; varones: PR=0,59; IC95%: 0,42-0,82) y cenaban con sus padres/tutores (mujeres: PR=0,48; IC95%: 0,35-0,65; varones: PR=0,58; IC95%: 0,42-0,78). Conclusión: Los adolescentes que comían frecuentemente con sus padres/tutores y reportaban un consumo adecuado de fibra tenían una menor prevalencia de obesidad.

Resumo Objetivou-se analisar a percepção de estudantes e egressos sobre a utilização da Aprendizagem Baseada em Problemas (ABP) na formação do enfermeiro. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo que utiliza a modalidade compreensiva e interpretativa proposta pela Hermenêutica-Dialética. Realizaram-se quatro grupos focais com a participação de 17 estudantes e 16 egressos de uma instituição de ensino superior que aplica a ABP na formação de enfermeiros. A análise dos resultados permitiu a definição de cinco categorias temáticas: dificuldade de adaptação em relação ao método; conquista de autonomia sobre o próprio aprendizado; incentivo ao desenvolvimento do raciocínio clínico; aprimoramento da comunicação e das relações interpessoais e integração entre teoria e prática. Evidencia-se que a utilização da ABP favorece a aproximação com as proposições das diretrizes curriculares para a formação do enfermeiro por meio do desenvolvimento de habilidades e competências como autonomia, comunicação, relações interpessoais e raciocínio clínico mediante práticas integrais e contextualizadas. Abstract This study aimed to analyze students’ and graduates’ perceptions regarding the use of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in nurse education. This is a qualitative study that employs the comprehensive and interpretative approach proposed by Dialectical Hermeneutics. Four focus groups were conducted with the participation of 17 students and 16 graduates from a higher education institution that implements PBL in nurse education. The analysis of results allowed for the identification of five thematic categories: difficulty in adapting to the method; attainment of autonomy in one’s own learning; encouragement of clinical reasoning development; enhancement of communication and interpersonal relationships; and integration between theory and practice. It is evident that the use of PBL promotes alignment with the propositions of curriculum guidelines for nurse education by fostering the development of skills and competencies such as autonomy, communication, interpersonal relationships, and clinical reasoning through comprehensive and contextualized practices. RESUMO: Este trabalho avaliou diferentes genótipos de arroz quanto a parâmetros físico-químicos e instrumentais de qualidade do grão e associou os dados à análise sensorial para subsidiar a criação de regras de classificação da qualidade culinária do arroz (textura), com base em parâmetros isolados ou combinados. A combinação do teor de amilose e temperatura de gelatinização foi capaz de predizer a qualidade do arroz. De acordo com o painel sensorial, a pegajosidade instrumental foi capaz de segregar arroz com baixo teor de amilose ou ceroso dos demais. Em relação às propriedades de pasta, o arroz que apresentou alta viscosidade final (310-480RVU), retrogradação (165-245RVU) e temperatura de pasta (78-88 °C) e baixos valores de quebra pasta (15-120RVU), associados a uma alta pegajosidade (> -5N) será desejável pelos consumidores brasileiros. ABSTRACT: This research evaluated different rice genotypes regarding physicochemical and instrumental parameters of grain quality and associated the data with sensory analysis to support the creation of rules for classification of the culinary quality of rice (texture), based on isolated or combined parameters. The combination of amylose content and gelatinization temperature was able to predict the rice quality. According to the sensorial panel, the instrumental stickiness was able to segregate rice with very low amylose content or waxy to the other ones. Regarding pasting properties, rice that presented high final viscosity (310-480 RVU), setback (165-245 RVU), and pasting temperature (78 - 88 °C), and low values for breakdown (15-120 RVU), associated with a high stickiness (>-5N) was desirable by the Brazilian consumers. Abstract Violence against women is a social phenomenon that arises from the structural male chauvinism (“machismo”) of society. Despite the advances already achieved, the patriarchal basis still persists, imposing social roles that create stereotypes and generate inequalities. Violence arises as a result of power asymmetry and arises from female behavior that deviates from imposed normative standards. The crime of feminicide, the violent death of women simply because they are women, is considered the pinnacle of violence and affects not only the direct victims, but also their families (indirect victims). Objectives. The objective of this work is to draw attention to the indirect victims of the crime of femicide, in particular, children and adolescents who suffer the physical, psychological, social and economic consequences resulting from violence and which have repercussions on their human development. Hypothesis. It is up to the State to provide assistance to these victims, in order to minimize the effects caused by the loss of family structure. Methodology used. Qualitative research, with an inductive method and bibliographic and documentary procedures. Results. The research carried out pointed out, on the one hand, the growth in occurrences of the crime of feminicide, as verified by the Public Security Yearbook (year 2023) and, on the other, the scarcity of data and information about the indirect victims of the crime, which demonstrates the invisibility of the topic. The absence of public policies designed to minimize the effects of orphanhood caused by violence was still observed, making it imperative for the State to look closely at this serious social problem that contributes to situations of poverty and marginalization. Final considerations. The urgency and indispensability of creating an assistance mechanism aimed at orphans of femicide was identified, in order to guarantee them the minimum necessary for a dignified existence, providing them with full human development.

Resumo A violência contra a mulher é um fenômeno social que decorre do machismo estrutural da sociedade. Malgrado os avanços já obtidos, a base patriarcal ainda persiste, impondo papéis sociais que criam estereótipos e geram desigualdades. A violência surge como resultado da assimetria de poder e decorre do comportamento feminino destoante dos padrões normativos impostos. O crime de feminicídio, morte violenta de mulheres pelo simples fato de serem mulheres, é considerado o ápice da violência e atinge não apenas às vítimas diretas, mas também a seus familiares (vítimas indiretas) Objetivos. O objetivo do presente trabalho é chamar atenção para as vítimas indiretas do crime de feminicídio, em especial, crianças e adolescentes que sofrem as consequências físicas, psicológicas, sociais e econômicas decorrentes da violência e que repercutem em seu desenvolvimento humano. Hipótese. Cabe ao Estado prestar assistência a essas vítimas, a fim de minimizar os efeitos provocados pela perda da estrutura familiar. Metodologia utilizada. Pesquisa qualitativa, com método indutivo e procedimentos bibliográficos e documentais. Resultados. As pesquisas realizadas apontaram, de um lado, o crescimento das ocorrências do crime de feminicídio, conforme se verifica pelo Anuário de Segurança Pública (ano 2023) e, de outro, a escassez de dados e informações acerca das vítimas indiretas do delito, o que demonstra a invisibilidade do tema. Ainda se observou a ausência de políticas públicas destinadas a minimizar os efeitos da orfandade provocados pela violência, sendo imperioso um olhar atento do Estado para esse grave problema social que contribui para situações de pobreza e marginalização. Considerações finais. Identificou-se a urgência e indispensabilidade da criação de um mecanismo assistencial dirigido aos órfãos do feminicídio, a fim de lhes garantir o mínimo necessário para a existência digna, propiciando-lhes o pleno desenvolvimento humano.

Resumo Introdução: A doença renal crônica costuma ser assintomática e seu diagnóstico depende da realização de exames laboratoriais, com destaque para a creatinina sérica e pesquisa de proteinúria. Objetivo: Avaliar em uma amostra da população brasileira o conhecimento sobre o papel da creatinina sérica como marcador de função renal. Método: Estudo observacional transversal realizado na cidade de São Paulo (SP, Brasil), em que foi entrevistada uma população adulta aleatória. Resultados: Foram entrevistados 1138 indivíduos, com idade mediana de 36 anos (27–52); 55,1% do sexo feminino. Com relação ao marcador “creatinina”, 40,6% afirmaram que nunca realizaram tal dosagem. Quando questionados quanto ao conhecimento sobre a utilidade desse exame, somente 19,6% sabiam a sua função. As outras respostas foram “não sei” (71,6%), avaliar o funcionamento do coração (0,9%) e fígado (7,8%). Dos que afirmaram já terem realizado o exame de creatinina, somente 29,4% acertaram a função da creatinina. Ao dividir os grupos em “sabe” e “não sabe” a função da creatinina, percebeu-se diferença estatisticamente significante (p < 0,05) em relação ao grau de escolaridade, sexo feminino, ser aluno/trabalhador da saúde, ter dosado creatinina alguma vez, conhecer alguém com doença renal e maior idade. Na análise multivariada, a principal variável relacionada com conhecer a função da creatinina foi ter realizado o exame anteriormente (OR 5,16; IC 95% 3,16–8,43, p < 0,001). Conclusão: Há grande desconhecimento sobre a creatinina e seu uso em check-ups. Os resultados indicam que é necessário maior esforço por parte dos profissionais de saúde para divulgar o papel da creatinina sérica. Abstract Introduction: Chronic kidney disease is usually asymptomatic, and its diagnosis depends on laboratory tests, with emphasis on serum creatinine and proteinuria. Objective: To assess knowledge on the role of serum creatinine as a biomarker of kidney function in a sample of the Brazilian population. Method: Cross-sectional observational study conducted in São Paulo (SP, Brazil), in which a random adult population was interviewed. Results: A total of 1138 subjects were interviewed, with a median age of 36 years old (27–52); 55.1% were female. Regarding the “creatinine” biomarker, 40.6% stated they had never performed such a test. When asked about their knowledge on the usefulness of this exam, only 19.6% knew its function. The other responses were “I don’t know” (71.6%), evaluating heart function (0.9%) and liver function (7.8%). Of those who reported they had already taken a creatinine test, only 29.4% correctly identified the role of creatinine. When dividing the groups into “knows” and “does not know” the function of creatinine, a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) was observed regarding level of education, female sex, being a healthcare student/worker, having ever measured creatinine, knowing someone with kidney disease and older age. In the multivariate analysis, the main variable related to knowing the creatinine role was having previously taken the test (OR 5.16; 95% CI 3.16–8.43, p < 0.001). Conclusion: There is a significant lack of knowledge about creatinine and its use in checkups. The results indicate that greater efforts are needed from healthcare professionals to raise awareness on the role of serum creatinine. Resumen Este artículo presenta a la Psicología Social del Trabajo (PST) como una perspectiva de estudios y prácticas que involucran la realidad de los trabajadores en diferentes inserciones laborales. Partiendo de la mirada de los trabajadores sobre sus propios procesos organizativos en la cotidianidad laboral, la PST se ubica en favor de sus demandas y asume un horizonte ético-político en defensa de la justicia social. Para ejemplificar las posibilidades de la PST, el artículo sintetiza resultados de dos investigaciones doctorales enfocadas en diferentes situaciones laborales en Brasil: los cargadores de camiones en Sorocaba (São Paulo) y las trabajadoras domésticas de remuneración por día en Fortaleza (Ceará). Las dos investigaciones ilustran cómo la PST es un camino fructífero tanto para la producción de conocimientos críticos sobre el modo de producción dominante como para la valoración de los saberes prácticos de los trabajadores que sobreviven al margen de las regulaciones laborales.

Résumé Cet article décrit la Psychologie Sociale du Travail (PST) comme une perspective d’études et de pratiques qui convoquent la réalité des travailleurs en différentes situations de travail et d’emploi. Partant du point de vue des travailleurs concernant les processus de leur organisation quotidienne, la PST se positionne en faveur de leurs aspirations, en assumant le caractère éthique et politique d’une défense de la justice sociale. Pour illustrer les potentialités de la PST, l'article résume les résultats de deux recherches doctorales conduites en situations de travail distinctes, en contexte brésilien : des ouvriers qui assurent le chargement de camions dans la ville de Sorocaba (São Paulo - Brésil) et des employées de maison travaillant dans la ville de Fortaleza (Ceará - Brésil). Les deux études soulignent que la PST est une voie féconde non seulement lorsqu’on veut réunir des connaissances critiques face au mode de production dominant, mais également parce que l’approche valorise les connaissances pratiques des travailleurs qui survivent en marge de la réglementation du travail.

Resumo O artigo apresenta a Psicologia Social do Trabalho (PST) como uma perspetiva de estudos e práticas que envolvem a realidade de trabalhadores em diferentes inserções laborais. Partindo do olhar de trabalhadores sobre os seus próprios processos organizativos no cotidiano de trabalho, a PST se posiciona em favor das demandas deles e assume um horizonte ético-político em defesa da justiça social. Para exemplificar as possibilidades da PST, o artigo sintetiza resultados de duas pesquisas de doutorado que focalizaram situações de trabalho distintas no contexto brasileiro: os carregadores de caminhão que atuam na cidade de Sorocaba (São Paulo) e as domésticas-diaristas que atuam na cidade de Fortaleza (Ceará). Ambas as pesquisas demonstram como a PST é um caminho profícuo não apenas para a produção de conhecimento crítico referente ao modo de produção dominante, como também para a valorização dos saberes práticos de trabalhadores que sobrevivem à margem das regulamentações trabalhistas.

Abstract The article presents Social Psychology of Work (SPW) as a perspective for studies and practices that involve the reality of workers in different forms of employment relationship. Based on workers' views of their own organizational processes in work routine, SPW positions itself in favor of their demands and assumes an ethical-political stance in defense of social justice. To exemplify the possibilities of the SPW, the article summarizes the results of two doctoral studies that focused on different situations in the Brazilian context: truck cargo porters working in the city of Sorocaba (São Paulo) and day laborer domestic cleaners working in the city of Fortaleza (Ceará). Both studies show that SPW is a fruitful way of both producing knowledge critical towards the mainstream mode of production and valuing the practical knowledge of workers who survive on the sidelines of labor regulations.
