Abstract In the Brazilian legal system, the protection of personal data is recognized as an autonomous fundamental right, in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Constitution and the experience of the Superior Courts. This article aims to understand the current state of the regulatory framework in this context, examining the role of the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados in light of the ecosystem established by the Federal Constitution of 1988. Additionally, it seeks to explore the implications of recognizing the fundamental nature of informative self-determination and how the ANPD correlates with other regulatory, inspection, and sanctioning authorities. Furthermore, the complexity of enforcing data protection is revealed through the plurality of legal sources applied to public administration, reflecting the convergence of regulatory entities in the Brazilian scenario. Furthermore, the complexity of enforcement does not represent a weakening or fragmentation of the regulatory structure in data protection, since the LGPD has a cooperation mechanism between the various regulatory bodies with potential administrative competence, denoting the ANPD the central role in this articulation, based on techniques of knowledge management and continuous articulation. system right Courts context 1988 Additionally selfdetermination self determination inspection authorities Furthermore administration scenario competence articulation 198 19 1

Alkali-activated binders (AAB) are inorganic materials produced by a mixture between a solid precursor and an alkaline activator, wherein, the reaction results in a material with properties similar to Portland cement hydration. The advantages of AAB over Portland cement are the possibility of using alternative materials, demanding low energy and low CO2 emission. The primary objective of this study was to produce an alkali-activated binder (AAB) using calcined wood waste ash (CWWA) as a solid precursor due to its beneficial properties. CWWA was obtained by burning wood wastes in a furnace, then calcined in a laboratory oven at 600 °C to remove unburned particles. Afterward, the ash was milled and then physiochemically characterized by chemical composition, X-ray diffraction (XRD), particle size distribution, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The milled CWWA was employed in AAB mortars and pastes activated with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) to assess the influence of alkaline activator concentration. In this work, the Na+ concentrations varied in the 6.5-12.5 mol.kg-1 range. Mortars were assessed by compressive strength, whereas pastes were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy/energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) for samples cured after 7 days at 60 °C. Results showed that the CWWA is mainly composed of SiO2 (67.9 wt%) and the presence of an amorphous phase and quartz as the main crystalline phase (XRD). The compressive strength of mortars showed that the CWWA activated with a Na+ concentration of 6.5 ml.kg-1 achieved the highest compressive strength (23.2 ± 1 MPa). Microstructural studies of pastes showed the formation of sodium carbonate (XRD) and reaction products (FTIR) in a dense microstructure (SEM/EDS). Hence, the key findings suggest that employing CWWA as a solid precursor offers a viable choice for producing a more sustainable AAB. Abstract Background Literature is scarce on echocardiographic characteristics of COVID-19 patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). Objectives To describe echocardiographic characteristics of ICU COVID-19 patients and associate them with clinical signals/symptoms, laboratory findings and outcomes. Methods Patients with RT-PCR-confirmed COVID-19, admitted to the ICU, who underwent echocardiography were included. Clinical characteristics associated with an abnormal echocardiogram (systolic ventricular dysfunction of any degree — left and/or right ventricle — and/or high filling pressures and/or moderate to severe pericardial effusion) were analyzed. Groups were compared using the Student’s t-test, chi-square, and logistic regression. A p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results A total of 140 patients met inclusion criteria, and 74 (52.9%) had an abnormal echocardiogram. A low number of left and right ventricular systolic dysfunction was observed, and 35% of the population had a normal diastolic function. In the univariate analysis, characteristics associated with abnormal echocardiogram were age, chronic kidney disease, elevated troponin, previous heart failure, and simplified acute physiology score 3 (SAPS 3). In the regression model, troponin and SAPS3 score were independent markers of abnormal echocardiogram. An abnormal echocardiogram was associated with a higher prevalence of in-hospital death (RR 2.10; 95% CI 1.04-4.24) and orotracheal intubation (RR 2.3; 95% CI 1.14-4.78). Conclusions COVID-19 has little effect on ventricular function, but it is common to find increased filling pressures. Elevated serum troponin level and SAPS3 score were the independent markers of an abnormal echocardiogram. In addition, the prevalence of in-hospital death and need for mechanical ventilation were higher in patients with abnormal echocardiogram. COVID19 COVID 19 COVID-1 ICU. . SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: Several prospective randomized trials have shown that hypofractionation has the same efficacy and safety as the conventional fractionation in the treatment of localized prostate cancer. There are many benefits of hypofractionation, including a more convenient schedule for the patients and better use of resources, which is especially important in low- and middle-income countries like Brasil. Based on these data, the Brazilian Society of Radiotherapy (Sociedade Brasileira de Radioterapia) organized this consensus to guide and support the use of hypofractionated radiotherapy for localized prostate cancer in Brasil. METHODS: The relevant literature regarding moderate hypofractionation (mHypo) and ultra-hypofractionation (uHypo) was reviewed and discussed by a group of experts from public and private centers of different parts of Brasil. Several key questions concerning clinical indications, outcomes and technological requirements for hypofractionation were discussed and voted. For each question, consensus was reached if there was an agreement of at least 75% of the panel members. RESULTS: The recommendations are described in this article. CONCLUSION: This initiative will assist Brazilian radiation oncologists and medical physicists to safely treat localized prostate cancer patients with hypofractionation.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the factors associated with urinary tract infection occurrence in institutionalized elderly. Methods: this is a cross-sectional, analytical, quantitative study with 116 elderly people from a Nursing Home. Urinary tract infection diagnosis was carried out through urine culture and clinical assessment. Demographic data and associated factors were obtained from medical records. Statistical analysis included bivariate analysis and logistic regression models. Results: the factors associated with urinary tract infection (p<0.05) were being female; wheelchair user; diaper use; diuretic use; urinary and bowel incontinence; type 1 diabetes; benign prostatic hyperplasia; dehydration. Conclusion: this study revealed that it is important to consider non-modifiable factors such as sex and clinical comorbidities; however, dehydration, a modifiable factor, increased the chances of developing urinary tract infections by 40 times among institutionalized elderly and demands greater attention from the health team.

ABSTRACT: This article presents theoretical and empirical contributions to discuss the use of poetry in science education. The theoretical contributions broach the discussions between: science, art and teaching; imagination and creation in literary and scientific activities; and the interfaces between aesthetics and cognition. The empirical contributions analyze poetry produced by students of the last year of middle school in science classes. The poems used concepts taught in the classroom to support the students’ position who presented different orientations to reality. This fact indicates the appropriation of cultural tools (concepts), since they are used in an autonomous context. The analyzes are based on the theoretical-methodological contributions proposed by Vygotsky, which allowed the production of three categories to analyze the poetry produced, namely: questioning of reality, questioning of human knowledge and responsive positioning. The analyzes indicate that the poems have contemplated cognitive, emotional and responsive aspects in relation to the subjects addressed, while they suggest that the use of poetry in science education can contribute to the development of the critical formation of the students.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate performance, apparent digestibility, blood parameters, and quantitative characteristics of carcass and internal organs of crossbred dairy calves fed different levels of crude glycerin in corn grain-based diets. Twenty-four calves of three months of age and average initial weight of 95.5±11.8 kg were used. The experimental design was completely randomized with four treatments (0, 80, 160, and 240 g kg−1 of crude glycerin of DM of diets). The calves were fed in feedlot until six months of age (195.68±2.38 kg of BW). Dry matter (4.14, 4.11, 3.80, and 3.49 kg day−1) and apparent digestible energy intake (0.43, 0.41, 0.37, and 0.35 MJ kg−1 BW) decreased with increasing levels of glycerin in the diets. There was no effect on the apparent digestibility of nutrients, average daily gain, feed efficiency, carcass characteristics, and blood parameters. The diets did not influence the weights [g kg−1 of empty body weight (EBW)] of lungs, heart, kidneys, liver, omasum, abomasum, and large intestine. The reticulorumen weight (g kg−1 EBW) increased, whereas the small intestine weight decreased with increased levels of glycerin in the diets. The area, height, and width of the rumen papillae were not changed with increasing levels of glycerin. The rumen wall thickness increased with increasing levels of glycerin in the diets. The inclusion up to 240 g kg−1 DM of crude glycerin of in corn grain-based diets for the production of dairy calves does not alter animal performance, carcass characteristics, and weights of internal organs.

ABSTRACT Objectives: Brachytherapy (BT) with iodine-125 seeds placement is a consolidated treatment for prostate cancer. The objective of this study was to assess the clinical outcomes in patients with prostate cancer who underwent low-dose-rate (LDR) -BT alone in a single Brazilian institution. Materials and Methods: Patients treated with iodine-125 BT were retrospectively assessed after at least 5 years of follow-up. Patients who received combination therapy (External beam radiation therapy-EBRT and BT) and salvage BT were not included. Results: 406 men were included in the study (65.5% low-risk, 30% intermediate-risk, and 4.5% high-risk patients). After a median follow-up of 87.5 months, 61 (15.0%) patients developed biochemical recurrence. The actuarial biochemical failure-free survival (BFFS) at 5 and 10 years were 90.6% and 82.2%, respectively. A PSA nadir ≥ 1 ng / mL was associated with a higher risk of biochemical failure (HR = 5.81; 95% CI: 3.39 to 9.94; p ≤ 0.001). The actuarial metastasis-free survival (MFS) at 5 and 10 years were 98.3% and 94%, respectively. The actuarial overall survival (OS) at 5 and 10 years were 96.2% and 85.1%, respectively. Acute and late grade 2 and 3 gastrointestinal toxicities were observed in 5.6%, 0.5%, 4.6% and 0.5% of cases, respectively. For genitourinary the observed acute and late grade 2 and 3 toxicities rates were 57.3%, 3.6%, 28% and 3.1%, respectively. No grade 4 and 5 were observed. Conclusions: BT was effective as a definitive treatment modality for prostate cancer, and its endpoints and toxicities were comparable to those of the main series in the literature.
