RESUMO: O objetivo foi avaliar parâmetros hematológicos e bioquímicos após teste em novo ambiente, e o desempenho zootécnico de Oreochromis niloticus classificado como proativo ou reativo. No experimento 1, machos de tilápia do Nilo com peso médio de 128,33 ± 34,17 g foram mantidos em sistema de recirculação de água (RAS). Imediatamente após a classificação, foram coletadas amostras de sangue de 20 animais reativos e 20 proativos. No experimento 2 foram classificados 60 machos proativos e 60 reativos, com peso médio de 88,23 ± 21,59 g, os quais foram divididos nos seguintes tratamentos: PT (40 animais proativos), RT (40 reativos) MT (20 proativos + 20 reativos). Os animais foram alimentados duas vezes ao dia durante 90 dias. No experimento 1, os animais reativos apresentaram maior hemoglobina e cortisol e menor quantidade de leucócitos. No experimento 2, o ganho em peso foi maior nos animais proativos (PT) e nos animais reativos (RT); porém, a melhor conversão alimentar foi obtida nos animais reativos. A taxa de sobrevivência foi menor no grupo de animais do tratamento MT. Já a hemoglobina e a glicose tiveram valores inferiores para os animais proativos e para aqueles que estavam misturados, no grupo MT. O colesterol foi superior nos animais PT. Conclui-se que variáveis como hemoglobina, cortisol, leucócitos e colesterol têm maior probabilidade de sofrer alterações entre traços de personalidade. Ainda, pode-se concluir que O. niloticus reativos e proativos, cultivados em ambientes separados, apresentam o mesmo potencial de ganho em peso, porém, a conversão alimentar dos reativos é melhor. Abstract Prostate cancer (PCa) is a highly prevalent condition among men worldwide, resulting in reduced quality of life and increased costs to health systems due to hospitalization and death. This study aimed to explore and understand the evolution of PCa in Brazil from 2008 to 2018. Data were obtained from the National Health System Department of Informatics (DATASUS) using code C61 for malignant prostatic neoplasms. We presented the hospitalization and mortality rates in a temporal-, regional- and age-dependent manner. From 2008 to 2018, a year-dependent increase in hospital admissions due to PCa was reported in Brazil, in which the Southeast region showed the highest prevalence. Men aged ≥80 and those 70-79 years old had similar hospitalization rates, followed by men aged 60-69, 50-59, 40-49 and 30-39 years old. Similarly, an increase in deaths due to PCa was reported during this period, with the highest rates seen in the Southeast. Men aged ≥80 years had higher mortality rates, followed by those aged 70-79, 60-69, 50-59, 40-49 and 30-39 years old. The results obtained indicate an age- and region-dependent increase in PCa morbidity and mortality in Brazil overtime and may contribute to the ongoing discussion on the role and future perspective of the health care system in Brazil. ABSTRACT Increasing soybean yield in the MATOPIBA region can be attributed to fertility management, which is crucial to achieving maximum agronomic efficiency. Therefore, the proper management begins with the assessment of plant nutrition. This study aimed to evaluate soybean nutritional status in western Bahia using the Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System (DRIS). Database comprised 153 samples from commercial fields located in the research area. To carry out the evaluation using the DRIS method, the database contained information on nutritional levels and leaf productivity of the sampled areas. Database was divided into high-productivity populations (reference population) and low-productivity populations, based on the inflection point value of the cumulative cubic function of yield. The DRIS method allowed for evaluating the potential response to fertilization; however, this method was inefficient in recommending fertilizer doses in both subpopulations. For the sufficiency levels proposed by DRIS, the nutrients N, K, Ca, Mg and S had their maximum and minimum limits reduced, while Cu, Fe and Zn had their ranges of sufficiency expanded, when compared with ranges proposed by other authors. In addition, Zn and Mn were more limiting due to lack for the high-yield subpopulation, and P and Mn for the low-yield subpopulation. RESUMO Contexto: Felizmente, muito se tem estudado sobre a COVID-19 em pacientes com doenças inflamatórias intestinais (DII). As evidências sugerem que esses pacientes não parecem ter risco aumentado de COVID-19 grave. Mas ainda se tem algumas incertezas com relação às manifestações clínicas da COVID-19 em portadores de doenças imunomediadas. Objetivo: Este estudo teve como objetivo descrever os principais sintomas da COVID-19 e sua frequência em pacientes com DII e avaliar o impacto dos medicamentos utilizados no tratamento das DII na apresentação clínica da COVID-19. Métodos: Pacientes adultos com DII de três hospitais públicos terciários de ensino do Ceará, Nordeste do Brasil, foram avaliados em consulta ambulatorial no período de março a dezembro de 2020. Pacientes com COVID-19 possível ou confirmada foram comparados com pacientes sem COVID-19. Além disso, as incidências de cada sintoma foram avaliadas com base no uso de medicamentos utilizados para tratamento da DII. Resultados: Foram incluídos no estudo 515 pacientes com DII: 234 com DC e 281 com RCU. Destes, 174 pacientes (34%) tinham COVID-19 possível/confirmado, dos quais 156 (90%) eram sintomáticos. Os principais sintomas foram febre (65%) e dor de cabeça (65%); sintomas gastrointestinais ocorreram em um terço dos pacientes, sendo mais frequentes do que na população geral com COVID-19. ABSTRACT Backgrounds: Fortunately, much has been studied about COVID-19 in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Evidence suggests that these patients do not appear to be at increased risk of severe COVID-19. However, there are still some uncertainties regarding the clinical manifestations of COVID-19 in patients with immune-mediated diseases. Objective: This study aimed to describe the main symptoms of COVID-19 and their frequency in IBD patients and evaluate the impact of the IBD therapeutic drugs on clinical presentation of COVID-19 and to determine factors associated with COVID-19 in this population. Methods: Adult patients with IBD from three tertiary-care public, teaching hospitals in Ceará, Northeastern Brazil, were evaluated during one scheduled appointment from March to December 2020. Patients with possible or confirmed COVID-19 were compared with patients without COVID-19. Furthermore, incidences of each symptom were evaluated based on the use of IBD therapeutic drugs. Results: A total of 515 patients with IBD were included in the study: 234 with CD, and 281 with UC. Of these, 174 patients (34%) had possible/confirmed COVID-19 of whom 156 (90%) were symptomatic. Main symptoms were fever (65%) and headache (65%); gastrointestinal symptoms occurred in one third of patients and were higher than COVID-19 in general population. The factors associated with having COVID-19 were female gender (OR 1.71, 95%CI: 1.17-2.50); contact at home (OR 5.07, 95%CI: 3.31-7.78) and outside the home (OR 3.14, 95%CI: 2.10-4.71) with a case of COVID-19; work outside of the home (OR 1.87, 95%CI: 1.26-2.78); family history of COVID-19 (OR 2.29, 95%CI 1.58-3.33) use of salicylate (OR 1.71, 95%CI: 1.17-4.28); and asthma (OR 7.10, 95%CI: 1.46-34.57). Resumo Objetivo Avaliar a qualidade da atenção primária à saúde voltada para pessoas idosas, durante a pandemia de covid-19, por meio de estudos de avaliação de serviços de saúd Método Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura. Foram incluídos artigos científicos originais, com desenho, caso-controle ou seccional, população contendo pessoas idosas, objeto do estudo atenção primária à saúde e estudos sobre a qualidade dos serviços de saúde. Os critérios de exclusão adotados foram: estudos sem análise específica para idosos, estudos de avaliação do acesso ou avaliação econômica da saúde. A análise do risco de viés foi realizada de acordo com os protocolos JBI e a síntese de dados foi realizada com as diretrizes SWiM. Resultados Foram incluídos na revisão sete estudos. Abstract Objective To evaluate the quality of primary healthcare services for older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic through studies evaluating health services. Method A systematic literature review was conducted. The search for articles covered the databases Web of Science, Embase, Scopus, and Medline/Pubmed. Original scientific articles with a case-control or cross-sectional design, involving populations that included older adults, focusing on primary healthcare, and assessing the quality of health services were included. Exclusion criteria were studies without specific analysis for older adults, studies evaluating health access or economic evaluation of health. The risk of bias analysis was conducted according to JBI protocols, and data synthesis was performed using SWiM guidelines. Results Seven studies were included in the review. The primary care services evaluated were mostly outpatient, with diverse quality assessment parameters related to individual care. The evaluation of quality identified a decrease in in-person consultations and visits, and an increase in the use of telehealth, with good satisfaction ratings among older adults. Conclusion The studies highlighted the difficulties maintaining and accessing in-person services during the COVID-19 pandemic, which directly contributed to a reduction in consultations and exams, usage of and access to health services, and the quality of primary healthcare. RESUMO Objetivo: Comparar a dinâmica da deglutição e trânsito do bolo alimentar na cavidade oral e na faringe entre usuários de próteses totais bem adaptadas e indivíduos dentados. Métodos: Vinte e sete usuários de prótese total (43 a 77 anos), avaliados com e sem as próteses, e 26 controles (41 a 74 anos) foram examinados com estudo videofluoroscópico da deglutição com bolos líquido, pastosos e sólido (biscoito e torrada), em duplicata e em sequência aleatória. Resultados: Resíduos orais após a deglutição líquida (em 56% das deglutições), na consistência purê (em 71% das deglutições) e com torradas (em 41% das deglutições), foram mais frequentes do que nos controles (líquido 13%, purê 43 % e torradas 15% das deglutições, p ≤ 0,04). Em usuários de próteses os tempos de trânsito oral, trânsito faríngeo e trânsito pelo esfíncter superior do esôfago foram mais longos com o bolo líquido; os tempos de trânsito faríngeo e orofaríngeo foram mais longos com o bolo purê; e o tempo de trânsito orofaríngeo foi mais longo com o biscoito. ABSTRACT Objective: To compare swallowing and bolus transit time through the oral cavity and pharynx between well-fitted complete denture wearers and toothed individuals. Methods: Altogether, 27 complete denture wearers (43 to 77 years old) and 26 controls (41 to 74 years old) were examined with videofluoroscopic swallowing study using liquid, pureed, and solid (crackers and toasts) bolus, twice and in a random sequence. Denture wearers were assessed with and without dentures. Results: Individuals wearing dentures had oral residues after swallowing liquid (in 56% of swallows) and pureed boluses (in 71% of swallows) and with toasts (in 41% of swallows), more often than controls (liquid 13%, pureed 43% and toast 15% of swallows, p ≤ 0.04). In denture wearers, the oral, upper esophageal sphincter, and pharyngeal transit times were longer after swallowing liquid bolus; the pharyngeal and oropharyngeal transit times were longer after swallowing pureed bolus; and the oropharyngeal transit time was longer after eating crackers. Assessment results without dentures were closer to that of controls when swallowing pureed bolus. Laryngeal aspiration was not observed in any of the individuals. ABSTRACT Reduced stability and structural resilience expose sandy soils to physical degradation under intensive production systems. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of different cover crops (CC) under no-tillage system (NTS) cotton cropping, grown either individually or in combination, on the soil physical quality (SPQ) of a sandy loam Oxisol (Latossolo) in southeastern Brazil. To quantify the effects of CC on soil physical quality indicators, an experiment in randomized blocks design was implemented with the treatments: CC1: single cultivation of Ruzi grass; CC2: Intercropping of Pearl Millet + Ruzigrass; CC3: Intercropping of Pearl Millet + Velvet bean; CCMixture: Intercropping of Ruzi grass, Pearl Millet and Velvet bean; and Control: maintenance of spontaneous plants. Undisturbed samples were taken from layers 0.00-0.10, 0.10-0.20, 0.20-0.40 and 0.40-0.60 m, in which were determined the soil bulk density (Bd), total porosity (TP), available water (AW), soil penetration resistance (PR) and the least limiting water range (LLWR). According to the multivariate analyses, the CC2 treatment resulted in better SPQ compared to the other treatments. The LLWR, air-filled porosity (θAFP), and AW were responsible for differentiating the CC2 treatment compared to the other treatments evaluated. Regardless of treatments, values of Bd> 1.75 Mg m-3 result in loss of SPQ due to the significant increase in PR and decreases in AW and LLWR. In the CC3 and Control, there was a physical impediment caused by the increase in Bd in the 0.10-0.20 m layer, which could result in the confinement of cotton roots to the surface, making them more susceptible to water stress. Soil PR reached values greater than 2.5 MPa for water contents lower than the θPWP in most treatments. In treatment CC3, for water contents equivalent to the θPWP, the PR did not exceed 6 MPa, while for the other treatments, the PR reached values greater than 10 MPa. Resumo Objetivo Avaliar a acurácia e aceitabilidade da auto-coleta utilizando um novo coletor - SelfCervix® - para a detecção de DNA de HPV. Métodos Foram incluídas no estudo 73 mulheres com idade entre 25–65 anos que realizaram seu rastreamento regular do câncer de colo do útero entre Março e Outubro de 2016. Estas mulheres realizaram a auto-coleta, seguida de coleta profissional e as amostras foram analisadas paraa presença de DNA de HPV. Após, elas responderam um questionário sobre a experiência da auto-coleta. Resultados As taxas de detecção de DNA de HPV por auto-coleta foram altas e similares as da coleta profissional. Sessenta e quatro (87,7%) pacientes responderam o questionário de experiência. A maioria (89%) considerou a auto-coleta confortável, e 82,5% preferiram o método comparado a coleta profissional. As razões citadas foram economia de tempo e conveniência. Cinquenta e uma (79,7%) mulheres confirmaram que recomendariam a auto-coleta. Conclusão Auto-coleta utilizando o novo coletor desenvolvido no Brasil não é inferior na detecção de DNA de HPV quando comparada a coleta profissional, e apresenta uma boa aceitabilidade pelas mulheres. Abstract Objective To evaluate the accuracy and patient acceptability toward self-sampling using a new device - SelfCervix® - for detecting HPV-DNA. Methods A total of 73 women aged 25–65 who underwent regular cervical cancer screening from March to October 2016 were included. Women performed self-sampling followed by a physician-sampling, and the samples were analyzed for HPV-DNA. After that, patients were surveyed about their acceptability of self-sampling. Results HPV-DNA detection rate of self-sampling presented high accuracy and was similar to physician-collection. Sixty-four (87.7%) patients answered the acceptability survey. Most patients (89%) considered the self-sampling comfortable, and 82.5% preferred self-sampling to physician-sampling. The reasons cited were time-saving and convenience. Fifty-one (79.7%) reported that they would recommend self-sampling. Conclusion Self-sampling using the new Brazilian device SelfCervix® is not inferior in HPV-DNA detection rate compared with physician-collection, and patients are supportive of the method. Resumo O estudo visa avaliar a promoção dos subgrupos de AIN/MP anunciados em encartes de supermercados, considerando as características das redes e a tipologia dos encartes. Foram analisados encartes de cinco redes de supermercados da região metropolitana do Rio de Janeiro (junho/2019-maio/2020). Foram apresentados dados de abrangência e perfil socioeconômico das redes e tipo de encarte. Dos 68.110 alimentos, 30,6% são AIN/MP. Carnes/ovos foram mais promovidos (42,3%), seguido de frutas/hortaliças (20,2%) anunciados mais em encartes de hortifruti. Laticínios; cereais/farinhas/massas e bebidas/infusões representaram cerca de 10,0% dos anúncios. Leguminosas (3,8%), especiarias e cogumelos (0,2%) e oleaginosas (0,1%) foram pouco promovidos. Foram encontradas diferenças estatisticamente significativas na promoção de subgrupos segundo abrangência e perfil socioeconômico das redes. Frutas/hortaliças foram mais anunciadas em redes nacionais e voltadas para o público de alta renda em comparação às locais e voltadas para um público de média/baixa renda. Abstract The present study evaluated the promotion of natural/minimally processed foods (N/MPF) subgroups advertised in supermarket circulars by considering supermarket features and circular typology. We analyzed circulars published by five supermarket chains in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro (June/2019-May/2020) and present data on the socioeconomic coverage and profile of the supermarkets and the types of circulars. Of the 68,110 types of foods, 30.6% were N/MPF. Meat/eggs were the most promoted ones (42.3%), followed by fruits/vegetables (20.2%), which were more often advertised by produce shop circulars. Dairy products, cereals/flours/pasta and beverages/infusions made up around 10.0% of the ads. Legumes (3.8%), spices and mushrooms (0.2%) and oilseeds (0.1%) were rarely promoted. Statistically significant differences were found in the promotion of subgroups according to supermarket coverage and their socioeconomic profiles. Fruits/vegetables were more often advertised by national chains and aimed at a high-income public than by local companies and aimed at a low/middle-income public. Promotion of N/MPF subgroups was disproportional due to differences among chains and types of circulars. ABSTRACT The Scientists of Tomorrow/ Cientistas do Amanhã project is an immersive science training program developed by the Program of Post-Graduation in Health Sciences at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein. This program was conducted in partnership with Volunteering and Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental Professor Paulo Freire in Paraisópolis, São Paulo, Brazil. The Scientists of Tomorrow Program comprised a short training period conducted in May 2022 involving 37 students, and a long training period from August to December 2022, which included 15 students. It aimed to popularize science through practical activities; transfer knowledge to young students; sensitize and guide them to pursue academic-scientific careers; reduce stereotypes about scientific work and scientists; and help students understand the social, political, and ethical roles of science within society. All activities were led by postgraduate students and professors from our postgraduate program, physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, biomedicals, and veterinarians from Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, as well as medical students from Faculdade Israelita de Ciências da Saúde Albert Einstein . Activities in the short training included lectures on cinema and science, strategies to combat fake news, non-violent communication, innovation, design-thinking framework, and developing a scientific project. During the long training period, discussions were focused on nanotechnology, animal research, big data, bioinformatics, meditation, blood and bone marrow donation, telemedicine, sex and sexually-transmitted infections, rehabilitation, career opportunities, and scientific integrity. In addition, practical activities were further expanded using optical and confocal microscopy, cytometry, and basic concepts regarding the structure and function of living cells. The program also included the launching of the open-air outreach Education E-natureza activity, which turned students into ambassadors of nature. In conclusion, the Scientists of Tomorrow Program was innovative and enabled young students to learn that science is a collective activity that can enhance public health. RESUMO Objetivo Comparar os resultados da fluência e da autopercepção do impacto da gagueira na vida de adultos que gaguejam, antes e depois de terapia fonoaudiológica intensiva. Método Trata-se de estudo descritivo longitudinal com coleta de dados antes e após terapia fonoaudiológica intensiva de quatro pacientes com gagueira. O programa de terapia intensiva constituiu-se em trinta encontros, de uma hora cada, realizados em cinco sessões individuais na semana. As amostras de fala coletadas antes e após a terapia foram analisadas por dois juízes especialistas em Fluência. A análise descritiva dos dados foi realizada por meio da distribuição de frequência das variáveis categóricas e análise das medidas de tendência central e de dispersão das variáveis contínuas. A verificação da concordância entre as análises realizadas pelos dois juízes foi realizada por meio do coeficiente de correlação intraclasse (CCI). Foi realizada também a análise de correlação pelo coeficiente de correlação de Spearman, entre as variáveis da amostra de fala e os escores do OASES-A. Resultados Houve redução do percentual de descontinuidade da fala e do percentual de disfluências gagas, aumentando o fluxo de palavras por minuto dos participantes. Na análise descritiva do OASES-A observou-se que em todas as partes do questionário, houve diminuição do grau de impacto da gagueira na vida dos participantes. ABSTRACT Purpose To compare the results of fluency and self-perception of the impact of stuttering on the lives of adults who stutter, before and after undergoing intensive speech-language pathology therapy. Methods This is a descriptive and longitudinal study with data collection before and after intensive therapy in four patients who stutter. The intensive care program consisted of thirty one-hour sessions held in five individual sessions a week. Speech samples collected before and after therapy were analyzed by two fluency experts. Descriptive data analysis was performed through the frequency distribution of categorical variables and analysis of measures of central tendency and dispersion of continuous variables. The verification of agreement between the evaluations carried out by the two judges was performed using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Correlation analysis was also performed using Spearman's rank correlation coefficient between the variables in the speech sample and the OASES-A scores. Results There was a reduction of the percentage of stuttering disfluencies, increasing the flow of words per minute of the participants. The descriptive analysis of the OASES-A showed a decrease in the degree of impact of stuttering on the participants' lives in all parts of the questionnaire. Abstract To analyze the design of educational governance for Basic Education that materialized in the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic in Amazonas, the article resumes and analyzes the decision-making of the public power on the municipal and state education systems of the capital and state between March 2020 and February 2021. Based on the Sociology of Public Action and a qualitative approach, the study that serves as the basis for this article – developed by researchers in the field of Education at the Federal University of Amazonas, based on an integrative review of the specialized literature, mapping and analysis of the actions of the education departments of Manaus and Amazonas – reconstructed the consolidated paths in the educational field in one of the epicenters of the pandemic in the country. ABSTRACT The effects of diets containing oilseeds were measured to evaluate the productive and economic parameters in the finishing of young, feedlot Nellore bulls. Twenty-four young Nellore bulls were used, with an initial body weight (BW) of 311.46±0.37 kg and 24 months of age, distributed into individual stalls ( 4 × 20 m) in a completely randomized design, totaling four treatments with six repetitions per treatment. Four diets (control, based on corn and soybean meal, and three diets containing cottonseed, soybean, and sunflower) were evaluated. Feed and orts were measured daily to calculate intake and costs. The dry matter intake of the control group was higher than soybean (10.64 kg/day), cotton (9.88 kg/day), and sunflower (9.30 kg/day) treatments, respectively. The cottonseed treatment showed the highest average neutral detergent fiber intake. There was a dietary effect of diets on average daily gain, total weight gain, and final weight. The soybean treatment showed the highest performance, total gain (232.55 kg), and final weight (544.38 kg). Oilseed intake can modify the fatty acids profile in the meat, decreasing its saturated fatty acid content. Whole soybean seed favors performance, improves feed efficiency, fatty acid profile, and fat distribution in the carcass, and can reduce production costs. RESUMO. Cuidadores informais de pessoas que vivem com demência tendem a sofrer problemas de saúde mental como resultado dos efeitos negativos associados às tarefas de cuidado. Assim, intervenções psicossociais para essa população são necessárias. O iSupport é um programa de apoio online para cuidadores criado pela Organização Mundial da Saúde. Objetivo: Descrever o desenho de um ensaio clínico randomizado para medir a eficácia da versão iSupport-Brasil na saúde mental e no bem-estar de cuidadores. Métodos: Os participantes serão randomizados em Grupo Intervenção (GI) (n=195) e Grupo Controle (GC) (n=195). Durante três meses, o GI acessará a plataforma iSupport-Brasil, o CG entrará na página eletrônica da Associação Brasileira de Alzheimer e ambos os grupos receberão por e-mail a versão preliminar do e-book Guia de cuidados para a pessoa idosa, do Ministério da Saúde. ABSTRACT. Unpaid caregivers of people living with dementia tend to suffer mental health problems as a result of the negative effects associated with the care tasks. Thus, psychosocial interventions for this population group are necessary. iSupport is an online support program for caregivers that was created by the World Health Organization. Objective: To describe the design of a randomized clinical trial to measure the efficacy of the iSupport-Brasil version on caregivers’ mental health and well-being. Methods: The participants will be randomized into Intervention Group (IG) (n=195) and Control Group (CG) (n=195). For three months, the IG will access the iSupport-Brasil platform, the CG will enter the electronic page of the Brazilian Alzheimer’s Association, and both groups will be emailed the preliminary version of the “Guia de cuidados para a pessoa idosa” e-book (a guide to providing care to the elderly) from the Ministry of Health.
