Abstract This article presents the development of a liquid-level sensor using fiber optic Bragg gratings (FBG). The sensor comprises a carbon-fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRP) diaphragm packaging an embedded FBG to measure strain. A mathematical analysis determines the FBG response to the pressure exerted by a liquid column over the packaged sensor. The experimental arrangement consists of an acrylic tube with a sensor at the bottom. FBG signals were acquired using a DI 410 optical interrogator manufactured by HBM. A finite element simulation with Ansys was performed to determine the most reposeful position from the FBG sensor. The experimental results show the analysis of eight repetitions of the water column ranging from 10 cm to 60 cm using 10 cm steps. The sensor showed a linear response, with a coefficient of determination of 0.999, and a sensitivity of 4.1 pm/cm; and the maximum standard deviation is 0.64 pm. Abstract In this work, measuring capabilities of a Sagnac Interferometer-based Distributed Optical Fiber Sensor (DOFS) system are demonstrated by comparing its results to a conventional amplitude-based Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) system. Through a set of three different experiments, it was demonstrated that both sensing systems can detect and locate dynamical deformation along the fiber, in addition to determining its frequency components. The coherent amplitude-based DAS presented a lower background noise. In contrast, even though the Sagnac interferometry-based system presented low-frequency noise in the measurements, it is less susceptible to harmonic distortion for higher amplitude deformations since its sensing principles rely on the measurement of the accumulated phase rather than the amplitude of the backscattered signal purely. Resumo Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito da substituição do milho moído por duas espécies de palma forrageira, Orelha de Elefante Mexicana-OEM (Opuntia stricta Haw.) e espécie Gigante (Opuntia ficus-indica Mill) em uma ração completa para terminação de cordeiros avaliando seus efeitos sobre consumo, comportamento ingestivo, desempenho, características de carcaça, cortes comerciais e composição físico-química da carne. Foram utilizados dezoito cordeiros sem padrão racial definido com peso corporal médio de 15,0 ± 2,32 kg e foram distribuídos em delineamento inteiramente casualizado com três tratamentos (OEM e palma Gigante e grão de milho como controle) e seis repetições. As duas espécies de palma forrageira em substituição ao milho moído na dieta de cordeiros não modificaram o consumo de matéria seca (CMS) proteína bruta e fibra em detergente neutro nem o tempo (min/dia) de ingestão, ruminação e ócio ou ganho corporal final. Cordeiros alimentados com milho moído e palma Gigante apresentaram maior ganho de peso total (GPT) e médio diário (GMD) em relação à espécie OEM. A dieta com milho moído promoveu melhor rendimento de carcaça quente e fria comparando cordeiros recebendo palma forrageira, independente da espécie. Os custos com ração e total (kg/cordeiro) foram maiores para a dieta com milho moído. A substituição do milho moído pela palma forrageira não alterou os teores de umidade, proteína e cinzas da carne, bem como a capacidade de retenção de água, perda por cozimento, força de cisalhamento e intensidade de cor a*. Abstract The aim was to evaluate the effect of replacing ground corn with spineless cactus from two species Orelha de Elefante Mexicana-OEM (Opuntia stricta Haw.) and Gigante (Opuntia ficus-indica Mill) in a total mixed ration for finishing lambs evaluating its effects on intake, ingestive behavior, performance, carcass traits, commercial cuts and physiochemical composition of the meat. Eighteen crossbred lambs with average body weight of 15.0 ± 2.32 kg were distributed in a completely randomized design with three treatments (OEM and Gigante spineless cactus and ground corn as control treatment) and six replications. Spineless cactus species replacing ground corn in lambs diets does not change the intake of dry matter (DMI), crude protein and neutral detergent fiber or time (min/d) of ingestion, rumination and idleness, or final body weight gain. Lambs fed with ground corn and "Gigante" cactus presented a higher total weigh gain (TWG) and average daily weight gain (ADG) when compared to OEM spineless specie. Ground corn diet promoted better hot and cold carcass yield in lambs receiving spineless cactus, regardless of species. Feed and total costs (kg/lamb) were higher for the ground corn diet. The replacement of ground corn with spineless cactus did not change moisture, protein, and ash meat contents, as well as water holding capacity, cooking loss, shear force, and a* color intensity. However, there was an effect for the meat lipid content, b* and L* color intensity and color index, where the species of cactus Gigante on ground corn presented the highest lipid content and yellowness (b*) intensity and lower L* color compared to OEM. RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi comparar diferentes modelos não lineares para o ajuste das curvas de crescimento de animais da raça Nelore Mocho e estimar os parâmetros genéticos para os componentes da curva de crescimento. Foram utilizados dados de peso corporal-idade do nascimento aos 650 dias de idades de 6.717 bovinos da raça Nelore Mocho, pertencentes à Associação Brasileira de Criadores de Zebu (ABCZ), referentes ao período de 1980 e 2011. Quatro modelos não lineares (Brody, Bertalanffy, Logístico e Gompertz) foram ajustados e comparados pelo coeficiente de determinação ajustado (R2adj), desvio médio absoluto dos resíduos (DMA), raiz quadrada do quadrado médio do resíduo (RMSE), critério de informação de Akaike (AIC) e o critério de informação bayesiano (BIC). Para estimativas dos parâmetros genéticos e valores genéticos do peso assintótico (A), constante de integração (B) e taxa de maturação (K), utilizou-se o método de inferência Bayesiana. O modelo Brody apresentou os menores valores de DMA, RMSE, AIC e BIC e o maior R2adj. As estimativas de herdabilidade foram 0,11; 0,16 e 0,30 para os parâmetros A, B e K, respectivamente, enquanto as correlações genéticas foram de 0,01 (A-B), -0,91 (A-K) e 0,24 (B-K). Constatou-se que o modelo Brody forneceu o melhor ajuste. O parâmetro K apresenta variabilidade genética suficiente para seleção no rebanho. Animais com maior peso na idade adulta tendem a apresentar menores taxas de crescimento. Apesar da baixa estimativa de herdabilidade do parâmetro A, observou-se ganhos genéticos, indicando que a seleção está sendo eficiente sobre o peso assintótico.

ABSTRACT This study was undertaken to compare different non-linear models for fitting growth curves of Polled Nellore animals as well as to estimate genetic parameters for the components of the growth curve. The study involved body weight-age data of 6,717 Polled Nellore cattle from birth to 650 days of age, which belonged to the Brazilian Association of Zebu Breeders (ABCZ), corresponding to the period from 1980 to 2011. Four non-linear models (Brody, Bertalanffy, Logistic, and Gompertz) were fitted and compared by the adjusted coefficient of determination (R2adj), mean absolute deviation of residuals (MAD), root mean square error (RMSE), Akaike information criterion (AIC), and Bayesian information criterion (BIC). To estimate the genetic parameters and genetic values of asymptotic weight (A), integration constant (B), and maturation rate (K), the Bayesian inference method was adopted. The Brody model showed the lowest values of MAD, RMSE, AIC, and BIC and the highest R2adj. Heritability estimates for parameters A, B, and K were 0.11, 0.16, and 0.30, respectively, whereas genetic correlations were 0.01 (A-B), -0.91 (A-K), and 0.24 (B-K). The Brody model provided the best fit. The K parameter shows enough genetic variability for selection in the herd. Heavier animals in adulthood tend to exhibit lower growth rates. Despite the low heritability estimate of parameter A, there were genetic gains, indicating that selection is being efficient on asymptotic weight.

Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi selecionar, simultaneamente, híbridos pré-comerciais de sorgo granífero com alta adaptabilidade e estabilidade da produção de grãos, por meio de modelagem mista, em 20 ambientes, por seis anos. O material vegetal avaliado consistia de 57 híbridos comerciais de sorgo granífero. Em todos os experimentos, os híbridos foram arranjados em delineamento fatorial triplo; alguns experimentos utilizaram um fatorial 6x6, e outros, um fatorial 5x5. Os parâmetros de adaptabilidade e estabilidade foram obtidos com base na predição por média harmônica da performance relativa dos valores genéticos (MHPRVG). Os modelos mistos mostraram-se adequados para analisar a interação genótipo x ambiente (GxE) e os estudos de adaptabilidade e estabilidade genotípica do sorgo granífero. Os híbridos que se destacam, considerando-se todos os ambientes, são 1G282, A9904, 50A50, A9902 e XB6022. O híbrido A9904 destaca-se em ambientes favoráveis, com rendimento de grãos acima da média. Apenas 1G282 está entre os cinco melhores híbridos para cada grupo de ambientes e é o melhor híbrido de sorgo granífero quanto ao rendimento, à adaptabilidade e à estabilidade. Os valores genotípicos preditos com base em médias genotípicas podem ser usados em relação aos ambientes com o mesmo padrão de interação GxE por estarem livres da interação GxE.

Abstract The objective of this work was to simultaneously select pre-commercial grain sorghum hybrids with high adaptability and yield stability, through mixed modeling, in 20 environments, during six years. The evaluated plant material consisted of 57 commercial grain sorghum hybrids. In all experiments, hybrids were arranged in a triple lattice design; some experiments used a 6x6 lattice, and others, a 5x5 lattice. Adaptability and stability parameters were obtained based on the prediction by harmonic mean of the relative performance of genotypic values (HMRPGV). The mixed models proved to be adequate to analyze the genotype x environment (GxE) interaction and the genotypic adaptability and stability studies on grain sorghum. The hybrids that stand out, considering all environments are 1G282, A9904, 50A50, A9902, and XB6022. The A9904 hybrid stands out in favorable environments, with a grain yield above average. Only 1G282 is among the five best hybrids for each group of environments, and it is the best grain sorghum hybrid for yield performance, adaptability, and stability. The predicted genotypic values based on genotypic means can be used in the environments with the same GxE interaction pattern because they are free of the GxE interaction.

RESUMO Objetivou-se neste estudo avaliar o efeito de lâminas de irrigação aplicadas por sistema de gotejamento subsuperficial na floração, frutificação, abortamento de flores e a influência destas variáveis na produtividade do tomateiro de crescimento determinado destinado ao processamento industrial (híbrido “BRS Sena”). O experimento foi conduzido no delineamento em blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições. Avaliou-se a influência de cinco lâminas de irrigação de 50, 75, 100, 125 e 150% da evapotranspiração da cultura, sobre a massa fresca e seca das flores, número de flores e frutos por cacho floral, taxa de abortamento de flores e massa média de frutos do tomateiro. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância e de regressão. Reposições da irrigação que variaram de 100 a 115% da evapotranspiração da cultura (459 a 528 mm) proporcionaram maior número de flores, número de frutos por cacho floral e menor taxa de abortamento de flores do tomateiro. Lâminas de irrigação superiores a 115% da evapotranspiração da cultura aumentaram a massa média de frutos, entretanto reduziram o número de flores, frutos e elevaram a taxa de abortamento de flores da cultura. O número de frutos por cacho e frutos e a taxa de abortamento de flores, influenciam de 53 a 66% da produtividade do tomateiro híbrido ‘BRS Sena’.

HIGHLIGHTS The number of flowers, the abortion rate, and the number of fruits per flower cluster directly influence processing tomato yield. Deficient or excessive irrigation levels impair flowering and increase the abortion of flowers of the processing tomato. Irrigation management is essential for the yield of processing tomato crops from the Brazilian Cerrado.

O presente trabalho apresenta uma aplicação do clássico interferômetro acústico de Quincke, conhecido como “tubo de Quincke”. O equipamento apresentado neste artigo foi construído com tubos de PVC e outros acessórios comumente utilizados em encanação. Como fonte sonora foi utilizada uma caixa de som convencional conectada a um notebook para a geração de ondas senoidais controladas pelo software GoldWave. Para medição da intensidade do som foi utilizado o sensor KY-038 junto a plataforma Arduino. O objetivo deste equipamento é auxiliar os estudos de interferência sonora em intervenções didáticas, tendo em vista a limitada existência de recursos didáticos para o processo de ensino e aprendizagem envolvendo ondas mecânicas, particularmente, nas aulas de interferência no ensino médio. Através do interferômetro acústico, foi possível calcular o comprimento de onda de cada frequência de som utilizada no experimento e, a partir destas medidas, determinar com boa precisão a velocidade do som no ar.

This work presents an application of the classical Quincke acoustic interferometer, also known as “Quincke tube”. The equipment described in this paper was built with PVC pipes and commonly used plumbing accessories. As a sound source, we used a conventional speaker that are connected to a notebook was used for the generation of sine waves controlled by the GoldWave software. To measure the intensity of the sound we use the KY-038 sensor and Arduino platform. The purpose of this equipment is support for educational activity, due to limited teaching and learning resources involving mechanical waves, especially the interference study in high school. Through the acoustic interferometer, it was possible to calculate the wavelength of different frequencies and from that to determine, with good precision, the speed of sound in the air.

Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a resistência de genótipos de grão-de-bico (Cicer arietinum) aos nematoides da galha (Meloidogyne javanica) e das lesões (Pratylenchus brachyurus), bem como verificar como estas espécies afetam essa cultura em condições de campo. O experimento foi realizado no bioma Cerrado, no estado de Goiás, Brasil, em área naturalmente infestada. Foram avaliados as cultivares BRS Aleppo, Cícero, BRS Cristalino, BRS Toro e BRS Kalifa e o genótipo Jamu 96. As variáveis avaliadas foram: fator de reprodução dos nematoides, massa fresca da parte aérea e do sistema radicular, matéria seca da parte aérea, matéria seca total das plantas, índice de clorofila, altura das plantas e rendimento de grãos. Pratylenchus brachyurus se multiplica mais do que M. javanica e diminui massa fresca da raiz, altura da planta e rendimento de grãos. Todos os genótipos são resistentes a M. javanica, principalmente Jamu 96 e a cultivar BRS Kalifa. Jamu 96 e a cultivar Cícero são suscetíveis a P. brachyurus. BRS Kalifa é a cultivar mais resistente a ambos os nematoides e apresenta maior rendimento de grãos.

Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the resistance of chickpea (Cicer arietinum) genotypes to the root-knot (Meloidogyne javanica) and root-lesion (Pratylenchus brachyurus) nematodes, as well as to verify how these species affect this crop in field conditions. The experiment was carried out in the Cerrado biome in the state of Goiás, Brazil, in a naturally infested area. The BRS Aleppo, Cícero, BRS Cristalino, BRS Toro, and BRS Kalifa cultivars and the Jamu 96 genotype were evaluated. The assessed variables were: nematode reproduction factor, fresh mass of the aerial part of the plant and of the root system, dry matter of the aerial part of the plant, total dry matter of the plants, chlorophyll index, height of the plants, and grain yield. Pratylenchus brachyurus multiplies more than M. javanica, decreasing root fresh matter, plant height, and grain yield. All genotypes are resistant to M. javanica, especially Jamu 96 and cultivar BRS Kalifa. Jamu 96 and cultivar Cícero are susceptible to P. brachyurus. BRS Kalifa is the cultivar most resistant to both nematodes and shows the highest grain yield.

Resumo Estudar a radiação solar é essencial para o conhecimento humano, visto que ela está presente em praticamente todas suas atividades. Assim, o objetivo desse trabalho é analisar a variação climática e sazonal da radiação solar direta normal e global na região de Maceió, estado de Alagoas, Nordeste do Brasil com condições do céu caracterizada pelo índice de claridade (Kt). O Kt foi determinado pela razão entre irradiância solar global e irradiância solar no topo da atmosfera. As maiores ocorrências de irradiância solar direta normal diária em condições de Kt ≥ 0,6 foram registradas entre 400 W m−2 e 700 W m−2 em todas as estações do ano. Sob condições de 0,4 ≤ Kt < 0,6, a irradiância solar direta normal diária ocorreu entre 200 W m−2 e 500 W m−2 e para condições de Kt < 0,4, seu valor máximo foi de 200 W m−2. Observou-se que os níveis de incidência solar na região de estudo dependem das condições de cobertura de nuvens, com pouca influência da sazonalidade.

Abstract Studying solar radiation is essential for human knowledge, since it is present in practically all its activities. Thus, the aim of this work was to analyze the climatic and seasonal variation of direct normal and global solar radiation in the region of Maceió, Alagoas State, Northeastern Brazil with sky conditions characterized by clearness index (Kt). The Kt was determined by the ratio between global solar irradiance and solar irradiance at the top of the atmosphere. The highest occurrences of daily direct normal solar irradiance under conditions of Kt ≥ 0.6 were recorded between 400 W m−2 and 700 W m−2 for all seasons. Under conditions of 0.4 ≤ Kt < 0.6, the daily direct normal solar irradiance occurred between 200 W m−2 and 500 W m−2 and for conditions of Kt < 0.4, its maximum value was 200 W m−2. It was observed that the levels of solar incidence in the study region depend on cloud cover conditions, with little influence of seasonality.

RESUMO A salinidade é um dos principais problemas enfrentados pela agricultura irrigada no semiárido, em função dos efeitos osmóticos e toxidade dos íons. Estes fatores refletem negativamente no crescimento e no desenvolvimento dos vegetais principalmente nas primeiras fases de seu desenvolvimento. O objetivo do presente estudo é verificar a qualidade da água no semiárido e seus efeitos nos atributos do solo e na cultura da Moringa oleifera Lam., por meio de uma revisão bibliográfica. A qualidade da água interfere nos atributos químicos e físicos dos solos como também na muda e planta, decorrente do acumulo dos sais presente na solução, ocasionado o aumento da salinidade e sodicidade a níveis não tolerante a maioria das espécies cultivadas. Os estudos existentes apontam uma tolerância para um nível de salinidade de até 2 dS. m-1, para a cultura da Moringa oleifera Lam, acima disso existe uma diminuição do desenvolvimento e crescimento da planta. O uso de água salinas é mais tolerante para as culturas do que para os seres humanos, em virtude dos mecanismos de defesa ou separação dos componentes tóxicos do não tóxicos das plantas. Porém, nas duas situações o uso adequado passa pelo manejo apropriado que possa separar os sais presente na solução ou diminuir suas concentrações para níveis aceitáveis para a cultura, evitando assim, o empobrecimento do solo no tocante a disponibilidade de água e nutrientes para as plantas. Realizar mais pesquisas sobre o assunto é imprescindível, principalmente para regiões que a qualidade da água é afetada por razões climáticas como o semiárido, possibilitando e subsidiando o cultivo de espécies nesta região, que não possui o fornecimento de água com qualidade, melhorando a fixação e desenvolvimento econômico do homem na região.

ABSTRACT Salinity is one of the main problems faced by irrigated agriculture in the semiarid region, due to the osmotic effects and ion toxicity. These factors reflect negatively on the growth and development of plants, especially in the early stages of their development. The objective of the present study is to verify the quality of the water in the semi-arid and its effects on the attributes of the soil and on the culture of Moringa oleifera Lam., Through a bibliographic review. The quality of the water interferes in the chemical and physical attributes of the soil as well as in the seedling and plant, due to the accumulation of salts present in the solution, causing the increase in salinity and sodicity at levels not tolerant to most of the cultivated species. Existing studies indicate a tolerance for a salinity level of up to 2 dS. m-1, for the culture of Moringa oleifera Lam, above that there is a decrease in the development and growth of the plant. The use of saline water is more tolerant for crops than for humans, due to the defense mechanisms or separation of toxic and non-toxic components of plants. However, in both situations, proper use involves appropriate management that can separate the salts present in the solution or decrease their concentrations to levels acceptable for the crop, thus avoiding soil depletion with regard to the availability of water and nutrients for the plants. Conducting more research on the subject is essential, especially for regions where water quality is affected by climatic reasons such as semi-arid, enabling and subsidizing the cultivation of species in this region, which does not have a quality water supply, improving fixation and economic development of man in the region.

ABSTRACT Introduction: The objective of this article was to analyze the financial costs of antibiotic therapy against bacterial resistance in a public hospital of high complexity located in the Agreste region of Pernambuco. Method: It was performed a descriptive, retrospective and cross-sectional study based on data collected from Hospital Infection Control Commission (CCIH) and the Pharmaceutical Supply Center (CAF) of the investigated hospital. It was obtained by a structured instrument of data collection and the period analysed was from January to December 2016. Results: The main clinical samples with presence of bacterial multiresistance were blood, urine and tracheal secretion, with a higher prevalence of the following bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus(23,08%), Coagulase-negative Staphylococcus(26,15%), Citrobactersp. (19,23%), Enterobactersp. (10,77%) and Pseudomonassp (7,69%). Faced to the multiresistance presented, the most common antibiotics used in the treatment were: vancomycin (21,7%), piperacillin-tazobactam (24,55%), ampicillin-sulbactam (10,4%), cefepime (18,43%) and meropenem (58,5%). The presence of resistant bacteria was a cause of increased costs in the treatment of patients. According to this study, the antibiotic therapy listed above generated a cost of R$ 83.298,83 and 49% of hospital death in 2016. Conclusion: The prevention, through of policies related to the control and rational use of antimicrobials, is fundamental in the fight against hospital infections caused by multiresistant bacteria.

RESUMEN Introducción: El objetivo de este artículo fue analizar los costos financieros de la terapia con antibióticos contra la resistencia bacteriana en un hospital público de alta complejidad en Agreste Pernambucano. Método: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo y transversal a partir de los datos recopilados de los registros de la Comisión de Control de Infecciones Hospitalarias (CCIH), la Farmacia y el Centro de Suministros Farmacéuticos (CAF) del hospital investigado. Esto se obtuvo a través de un instrumento de recolección estructurado, con datos correspondientes al período de enero a diciembre de 2016. Resultados: Las principales muestras clínicas con presencia de resistencia a múltiples fármacos bacterianos fueron sangre, orina y secreción traqueal, con mayor prevalencia de las siguientes bacterias: Staphylococcus aureus(23,08%), Staphylococcuscoagulasa negativo (26,15%), Citrobactersp. (19,23%), Enterobactersp. (10,77%) y Pseudomonassp. (7,69%). En vista de la resistencia a múltiples fármacos presentada, los antibióticos más utilizados para el tratamiento fueron: vancomicina (21,7%), piperacilina con tazobactam (24,55%), ampicilina con sulbactam (10.4%), cefepima (18,43%) y meropenem (58,5%). La presencia de bacterias resistentes fue la causa del aumento de los costos en el tratamiento de los pacientes. Los valores en este estudio con terapia con antibióticos generaron un costo de R$ 83.298,83 en 2016, con el 49% de las muertes hospitalarias. Conclusión: La prevención, a través de políticas relacionadas con el control racional y el uso de antimicrobianos, es fundamental en la lucha contra las infecciones nosocomiales por bacterias multirresistentes.

Resumo A utilização dos dados de reanálise atmosférico global (ERA-Interim), produzidos pelo European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts - ECMWF se torna uma importante ferramenta para regiões de produção agrícola, principalmente em áreas escassas de estações meteorológicas. Objetivou-se neste trabalho, caracterizar a variabilidade espacial e sazonal hídrica do estado do Mato Grosso do Sul usando dados de reanálise meteorológica do ERA-Interim. O estudo foi realizado no Mato Grosso do Sul, localizado na região Centro-Oeste do Brasil. Os dados decendiais de precipitação pluvial e temperatura média do ar foram obtidos pelo ERA-Interim entre os anos de 1989 e 2015, totalizando 566 pontos. Estimou-se o armazenamento de água no solo, a deficiência hídrica e o excedente hídrico a partir do balanço hídrico normal de Thornthwaite e Mather (1955). No Mato Grosso do Sul ocorreu variação espacial e sazonal dos componentes do balanço hídrico. A variação sazonal do armazenamento hídrico do solo ocorreu com a mudança das estações do ano. A região sul do estado do Mato Grosso do Sul apresenta os maiores recursos hídricos, com DEF reduzido, ARM próximo de 100% e EXC elevados. Os maiores excedentes hídricos ocorrem no período de dezembro a março, enquanto, de agosto a outubro ocorrem os menores valores de excedentes hídricos no estado.

Abstract The use of global atmospheric reanalysis data (ERA-Interim) produced by the European Center for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) becomes an important tool for agricultural production regions, especially in scarce weather station areas. We sought to characterize the spatial and seasonal water variability of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul using meteorological reanalysis data from ERA-Interim. The study was conducted in Mato Grosso do Sul, located in the Midwest region of Brazil. Decendial rainfall and mean air temperature data were obtained from ERA-Interim between 1989 and 2015, totaling 566 points. We estimated soil water storage, water deficit and water surplus from the normal water balance of Thornthwaite and Mather (1955). In Mato Grosso do Sul there was spatial and seasonal variation of water balance components. Seasonal variation in soil water storage occurred with the change of seasons. The southern region of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul has the largest water resources, with reduced DEF, close to 100% ARM and high EXC. The largest water surpluses occur from December to March, while from August to October the lowest water surpluses occur in the state.

RESUMO: O presente estudo teve por objetivo averiguar, em condições de laboratório, alterações na atividade locomotora de populações de traça-das-crucíferas, expostas a superfícies tratadas com o inseticida clorantraniliprole. Populações de Plutella xylostella provenientes dos municípios com uso inadequado de inseticida: Camocim de São Félix-PE (CSF), Sairé-PE (SR), Lajedo-PE (LJ) e duas populações de laboratório: Recife-PE (RCF) e Viçosa-MG (VÇS) foram expostas a resíduos secos do inseticida, em concentrações crescentes. Estas populações tiveram os seguintes parâmetros comportamentais analisados: Tempo de caminhamento (TC), Velocidade Média de caminhamento (VMC) e Tempo de Repouso (TR). Com relação ao TC, as populações de SR e CSF demonstraram comportamento de irritabilidade, aumentando o tempo de caminhamento com o aumento da concentração de exposição. A população de RCF apresentou resposta contrária. Em relação ao parâmetro VMC, as populações de SR e CSF apresentaram tendência de redução nos valores com o aumento da concentração de exposição. As populações de LJ e RCF não apresentaram mudanças deste comportamento. Para a variável TR, a população de SR apresentou redução nesses valores, com o aumento da concentração do inseticida. De forma geral, as populações de SR e CSF apresentaram um padrão de comportamento diferente das populações de laboratório. Estas alterações na atividade locomotora podem resultar numa menor eficácia de controle do inseticida devido à irritabilidade ou fuga. Quanto ao efeito das concentrações usadas do inseticida entre populações, de forma geral, não foi possível observar um padrão definido, tendo este efeito alternado entre aumento, redução e padrão não definido para as variáveis estudadas.

ABSTRACT: The present study aimed to evaluate changes in the locomotor activity of diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella) populations exposed to surfaces treated with the insecticide chlorantraniliprole under laboratory conditions. Diamondback moth populations from municipalities incorrectly using the insecticide [Camocim de São Félix, PE (CSF); Sairé, PE (SR); and Lajedo, PE (LJ)] and two laboratory populations from Recife, PE (RCF), and Viçosa, MG (VÇS) were exposed to dry insecticide residues in increasing concentrations. The following behavioral parameters of the populations were analyzed: walking time (WT), mean walking speed (MWS), and rest time (RT). Regarding RT, the SR and CSF populations demonstrated a behavior of irritability and increased WT with increased exposure concentration. The RCF population presented a contrasting response. The MWS values in the SR and CSF populations showed a decreasing trend with increased exposure concentration. The LJ and RCF populations showed no changes in terms of MWS. The RT values in the SR population decreased with increased insecticide concentration. In general, the SR and CSF populations presented a behavioral pattern different from that of laboratory populations. The changes in locomotor activity observed may result in lower control efficacy of the insecticide due to repellency or escape of insects. Regarding the effect of insecticide concentrations used in the populations, a defined pattern was not observed, and the effect alternated between an increase, a decrease, and an undefined pattern for the variables studied.

Resumo Neste trabalho realizamos medições indiretas dos tamanhos de algumas crateras lunares, bem como, de suas coordenadas selenográficas a partir de fotografias da superfície lunar. Para realizar as análises das imagens e as medições desenvolvemos um software em Visual Basic, que denominamos Îasy. Comparando os resultados obtidos por meio do programa de computador desenvolvido com dados disponibilizados por um observatório astronômico, obtivemos desvios percentuais médios menores que 1%. Diante do potencial didático da ferramenta, capaz de reduzir as abstrações e produzir motivação, assim como, da confiabilidade dos resultados obtidos, constatamos que o software Îasy pode ser usado como ferramenta educacional, além de auxiliar astrônomos amadores no desenvolvimento de pesquisas e medições com boa precisão.

Abstract In this paper indirect measurements of the sizes of some lunar craters as well as their selenographic coordinates from lunar surface photographs were performed. In order to carry out the analysis of the images a software was developed in Visual Basic, which is so called Îasy. Comparing the results obtained through the program developed with data provided by an astronomical observatory average percentage deviations of less than 1% were obtained. In view of the didactic potential of the tool capable of reducing abstractions and producing motivation, as well as the reliability of the obtained results, we can verify that Îasy software can be used as an educational tool, as well as assist amateur astronomers in the development of good precision.

RESUMO O estudo objetivou analisar a associação entre a posição da atacante, o local do lançamento e a direção do lançamento com o efeito do lançamento, bem como os fatores preditivos deste. Foram analisadas 6146 ações de ataque de 66 jogos realizados pelas 24 equipes participantes do Campeonato Mundial de Handebol Feminino de 2015. Para a associação entre as variáveis estudadas recorreu-se ao teste do Qui-Quadrado e para análise preditiva utilizou-se à regressão logística multinomial. Adotou-se o valor de significância de p≤0,05 e utilizou-se o software SPSS versão 20.0 para Windows. Os resultados apontaram associação entre o efeito do lançamento e a posição da atacante (��2= 107,39; p=0,0001; ɸ=0,13), entre o efeito do lançamento e o local do lançamento (��2= 715,01; p=0,0001; ɸ=0,34), entre o efeito do lançamento e a direção do lançamento (��2= 587,25; p=0,0001; ɸ=0,34) e que o local do lançamento e a direção do lançamento foram fatores preditivos do efeito do lançamento (��2=854,666; p<0,0001). Assim, a partir dos resultados, pode-se concluir que o efeito do lançamento é predito pelo local do lançamento e pela direção do lançamento, sugerindo que a posição da jogadora não influencia na obtenção do gol.

ABSTRACT The study aimed to analyze the association between the position of the attacker, the place of the finish and the direction of the finalization with the effectiveness of the finalization, as well as the predictive factors of this. A total of 6146 attack actions of 66 matches were analyzed by the 24 teams participating in the 2015 Women’s World Handball Championship. For the association between the variables studied, we used the Chi-Square test and for predictive analysis of the data, we used the multinomial regression. The significance level of p≤0.05 was adopted and the software SPSS version 20.0 for Windows was used. The results showed an association between the finalization effect and the attacker’s position (χ2 = 107.39, p = 0.0001, ɸ = 0.13), association between the finishing effect and the finishing direction (χ2 = 715, (Χ2 = 587.25, p = 0.0001, ɸ = 0.34), and that the predictive factors of the finalization effect was statistically significant (χ2 = 854.666; p <0.0001). Thus, from the results, it is possible to concluded that the effect of the finalization and the direction of the finalization, suggesting that the position of the player does not influence in obtaining the goal.
