RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar a associação entre presença de equipamentos públicos de comércio de frutas e hortaliças com seu consumo regular por adolescentes de escolas públicas de Curitiba, Paraná. Métodos: Informações dos adolescentes foram coletadas por meio de questionário. Considerou-se como regular o consumo de frutas e hortaliças cinco ou mais vezes na semana. Foram incluídos dados do ambiente obtidos por auditagem de equipamentos públicos de venda de frutas e hortaliças no raio de 1,6 km do entorno de 30 escolas estaduais aleatoriamente sorteadas, no qual foram avaliados a disponibilidade e os preços desses alimentos. Resultados: Participaram do estudo 1.232 alunos de 30 escolas estaduais. O consumo regular de frutas foi referido por 43,4% e de hortaliças por 67,0% dos adolescentes. Nas escolas, o consumo de frutas variou entre 26,8 e 68,0% e o de hortaliças entre 54,8 e 82,2%; 22 escolas contavam com oferta de frutas e hortaliças no entorno. O consumo regular de hortaliças esteve correlacionado positivamente com a sua variedade (r=0,82; p=0,007). O índice de Moran local indicou baixo consumo de frutas em uma regional de alta oferta e, em outras três, alto consumo de frutas e hortaliças para baixa oferta e alto consumo de hortaliças em uma regional de alta oferta. Conclusões: Existem diferenças na oferta de frutas e hortaliças dos equipamentos públicos no entorno escolar e na distribuição do consumo regular entre as regionais. Características relacionadas à densidade de equipamentos de comércio e à variedade estiveram associadas ao maior consumo de frutas e hortaliças entre os adolescentes de escolas públicas.

ABSTRACT Objective: To assess the association between the presence of public outlets selling fruits and vegetables and the regular intake of these foods by adolescents from public schools in the city of Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. Methods: Data collection was carried out by a questionnaire answered by the adolescents. Regular intake was defined as eating fruits and vegetables five or more times a week. Environmental data were obtained by assessing the availability and prices of fruits and vegetables traded in public outlets within a 1.6-km radius from 30 randomly selected public schools. Results: A total of 1,232 students from 30 public schools participated in the study. 43.4% of the adolescents reported a regular intake of fruits; 67.0% of them reported a regular intake of vegetables. In the schools, fruit intake ranged from 26.8 to 68.0%, and the vegetables intake ranged from 54.8 to 82.2%. A total of 22 schools had fruit and vegetables being traded in their surroundings. Regular intake of vegetables was positively correlated with their variety (r=0.82; p=0.007). The Moran’s local index indicated low fruit intake in a high-supply region; in other three regions with low supply, there was a high intake of fruits; and there was a high consumption of vegetables in a high-supply region. Conclusions: There are differences in the supply of fruits and vegetables of public outlets in the school’s surroundings as well as in the distribution of regular intake among regions. The density of public outlets and the variety were both associated with greater intake of fruits and vegetables among adolescents of public school.

Resumo A maior disponibilidade de frutas, verduras e legumes (FLV) pode auxiliar no consumo destes alimentos. Objetivou-se investigar desigualdades demográficas e de renda domiciliar na distribuição espacial da comercialização de FLV em Curitiba, Paraná. Foram identificados 106 equipamentos de venda de alimentos listados no site da Secretaria Municipal de Abastecimento, nas 10 regionais administrativas do município. Os dados populacionais e de Renda Domiciliar das regionais administrativas foram obtidos do Censo Demográfico de 2010. Os pontos de comercialização de alimentos foram identificados e, em seguida, analisados quanto a correlação entre as regionais pelo índice de Moran. Foram avaliadas 407 barracas, em 103 equipamentos públicos que comercializavam FLV. Observou-se concentração das feiras na área central do município, com índice de Moran global de 0,99. Entre as regionais apenas uma não apresentou nenhum equipamento (Tatuquara). Observou-se concentração dos equipamentos nas regionais com maior renda (9,82/10.000 hab) em relação àquelas com menor renda (2,60/10.000 hab) (p<0,001). Existem iniquidades na oferta e na qualidade dos FLV em equipamentos públicos em regionais de menor renda, o que deve ser considerado pelos gestores ao programarem a distribuição dos locais.

This study sought to investigate demographic and household income inequalities in the spatial distribution of FV in the city of Curitiba, State of Paraná. A total of 106 FV outlets were listed in the 10 administrative regions on the City Hall Supply Department website. Data on population and household income of the administrative regions were obtained from the 2010 Demographic Census. The food sale outlets were identified, and subsequently analyzed for the correlation between the regions by the Moran index. A total of 407 food stands were evaluated in 103 public facilities that commercialized FV. A concentration of street food markets in the central areas of the city, with a global Moran index of 0.99, was observed. In the regions, only one did not have an outlet (Tatuquara). There was a higher concentration of outlets in the higher-income regions (9.82/10,000 inhabitants) compared to those with the lower income regions (2.60/10,000 inhabitants) (p <0.001). Inequities were observed in the supply and in the quality of FV available in public facilities in lower-income regions, which should be considered by administrators when planning distribution in these locations.

RESUMO As alterações antrópicas nas bacias hidrográficas costeiras afetam a quantidade e a qualidade da água dos estuários. A partir de um modelo analítico de intrusão salina e do balanço de cargas, avaliamos os efeitos da descarga de efluentes projetada para uma estação de tratamento de esgoto (ETE) (média de 285 L·s−1 e pico de 495 L·s−1) em um estuário insular. A intrusão salina na maré baixa, sem descarga antrópica, aumentará em 22%, ao passo que com o aumento da descarga haverá reduções de 16% e 28%. A redução da intrusão salina poderá afetará processos biogeoquímicos e a distribuição de espécies em regiões mais a montante do estuário. Quando a ETE atingir sua vazão média projetada, aumentará suas cargas de DBO e fósforo em 90% e 82%, respectivamente, em relação à carga atual. Com o aumento da vazão da ETE haverá ampliação das atuais áreas em condição de hipóxica e anóxica, piorando a situação atual deste estuário já comprometido. Para que a ETE traga os ganhos ambientais esperados é necessário considerar a capacidade suporte do corpo receptor.

ABSTRACT Anthropic changes in coastal watersheds affect the quantity and quality of water in estuaries. Based on an analytical model of saline intrusion and load balance, we have evaluated the effects of effluent discharge (mean of 285 L·s−1 and peak of 495 L·s−1) from a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in an island estuary. Saline intrusion at low tide, without actual anthropic discharge, will increase by 22%, whereas with increasing discharge, reductions of 16% and 28%. The reduction of saline intrusion may affect biogeochemical processes and the distribution of species in regions further up the estuary. When the WWTP reaches the mean projected discharge, it will increase its BOD and phosphorus loads by 90% and 82%, respectively, in relation to the current load. With the increase of WWTP discharge, there will be an expansion of hypoxic and anoxic conditions over the current areas, worsening the condition of this already jeopardized estuary. For the WWTP to lead to the expected environmental gains, it is necessary to consider the carrying capacity of the receiving body.

RESUMO Os corpos hídricos localizados nas zonas costeiras estão submetidos às pressões antrópicas e a perda da qualidade ambiental. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a qualidade ambiental do rio Papaquara, através da qualidade da água e da paisagem ribeirinha, utilizando-se do Índice Trófico (TRIX) e do Protocolo de Avaliação Rápida (PAR). O estudo foi realizado na bacia hidrográfica localizada no norte da Ilha de Santa Catarina, Florianópolis – SC, cujo aumento populacional no veraneio é em torno de 280%. O Índice Trófico e o Protocolo de Avaliação Rápida foram avaliados nos períodos de pré-veraneio, veraneio e pós-veraneio em sete pontos amostrais ao longo das áreas interna (maior adensamento populacional), mediana e externa do rio Papaquara, além de dois pontos em afluentes. O rio Papaquara mostrou-se em estado de forte estresse, sendo classificado como eutrofizado, em 77% das amostras e alterado em 50% da área amostrada, conforme os índices TRIX e PAR, respectivamente. A área interna apresentou-se eutrófica e impactada em todos os períodos analisados. A área mediana e a externa diminuíram sua qualidade da água, devido a atividade de veraneio, enquanto não houve alteração da qualidade ambiental pelo PAR. A correlação significativa entre os índices utilizados indicou que o PAR deve ser usado com cautela para descrever condição de qualidade da água. Esta análise se apresentou mais adequada quando utilizada na escala do rio como um todo, mas não por segmentos isolados.

ABSTRACT Water bodies located in coastal areas are subject to human pressures and the loss of environmental quality. The objective of this study was to evaluate the environmental quality of the river Papaquara through water quality and river landscape, using the Trophic Index (TRIX) and Rapid Assessment Protocol (RAP). The study was developed in the watershed located in the north of the island of Santa Catarina, Florianópolis – SC, whose population increase in the summer is around 280%. The Trophic Index and the Rapid Assessment Protocol were evaluated in the pre-summer period, summer and after-summer in seven sample points along the inner areas (higher population density), median and outside the Papaquara river, plus two points in affluent. The river Papaquara showed up in great stress state, is classified as eutrophic, 77% of the samples and changed in 50% of the sampled area, as the TRIX index and RAP, respectively. The internal area registered up eutrophic and impacted in all periods analyzed. The median area and the outer decreased their water quality, due to summer activity, while there was no change in environmental quality by RAP. A significant correlation between the indices used indicated that the RAP should be used with caution to describe the condition of water quality. This analysis has submitted be more appropriate when used in river scale as a whole, but not isolated segments.
