Introduction Dendritic cell (DC) vaccines have demonstrated good efficacy in preventing relapse and in increasing survival of patients affected by a variety of both solid and hematological tumors. Most protocols used to generate these cells involve the automated separation of peripheral blood monocytes from patients. This approach requires specialized equipment, which elevates the cost of this type of therapy, potentially limiting the widespread access to patients. Method: In this study, we compare the yield and quality of dendritic cells generated from monocytes and isolated by an automated method or by manual methods using gradient centrifugation. Results The results demonstrate the equivalence of the 3 methods in relation to the yield and final quality of the product, however with considerable differences between the costs of these procedures. In addition, this study also demonstrates the feasibility of the antigenic pulse with autologous tumor cell lysates, constituting a source of antigens, not only easily obtained and manipulated, but also specific to the patient's tumor. Conclusion These findings may have important implications for emerging centers interested in using this medical approach and potentially increase the access of a greater number of patients to this therapeutic option. Resumo O presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o impacto de diferentes sistemas agrícolas sobre as frações húmicas da matéria orgânica (MOS) e a agregação do solo, sob solo de textura média em uma região subtropical do Brasil. Foram avaliadas três áreas manejadas e uma área de referência: pastagem permanente (PP), plantio direto (PD), plantio direto+Brachiaria (PD+B) e mata nativa (NF). Foram coletadas amostras de solo deformadas nas camadas 0-0,05; 0,05-0,10; 0,10-0,20 e 0,20-0,40 m, e amostras de solo indeformadas nas camadas 0-0,05 e 0,05-0,10 m. Após a coleta, foram realizadas análises de carbono orgânico total (COT), fracionamento químico da MOS; análise de estabilidade de agregados. A área PP apresentou os maiores teores de COT e C-AF nas três primeiras camadas avaliadas. Na camada de 0,10-0,20 m os teores de C-HUM na área PD+B foram 1,9 vezes maiores que na área PD, e em 0,20-0,40 m foram 6,6 vezes maiores. A área PP obteve os melhores indicadores estruturais, especialmente maior DMP, DMG e % de macroagregados. As duas áreas com plantio direto apresentaram percentual de macroagregados superior a 37,28% na camada superficial. O manejo do PP proporcionou aumentos nos teores de COT e, consequentemente, de substâncias húmicas, além da formação de agregados mais estáveis. O sistema PD+B mostrou-se promissor no aumento do COT e das substâncias húmicas, principalmente em profundidade, mesmo com um curto período de implantação. Abstract This work evaluates the impact of different agricultural systems on the humic fractions of organic matter (SOM) and soil aggregation in a medium-textured soil in a subtropical region of Brazil. Three managed areas and a reference area were evaluated: permanent pasture (PP), no-till (NT), no-till+Brachiaria (NT+B) and native forest (NF). Deformed soil samples were collected in the layers 0-0.05; 0.05-0.10; 0.10-0.20 and 0.20-0.40 m, and unformed soil samples in the layers 0-0.05 and 0.05-0.10 m. After collection, total organic carbon (TOC) analysis, chemical fractioning of SOM and aggregate stability analysis were performed. The PP area presented the highest TOC and C-FA contents in the first three layers evaluated. In the 0.10-0.20 m layer, the C-HUM contents in the NT+B area were 1.9 times higher than in the NT area, and in 0.20-0.40 m they were 6.6 times higher. The PP area obtained the best structural indicators, especially higher WMD, GMD and % of macroaggregates. The two areas using direct seeding presented a percentage of macroaggregates higher than 37.28% in the superficial layer. The PP management provided increases in TOC levels and, consequently, humic substances, besides the formation of more stable aggregates. The NT+B system showed promise in increasing TOC and humic substances, especially at depth, even with a short implementation period. The increase in TOC and humic substances provided by the grasses contributes to the formation of more stable aggregates and, consequently, to the improvement of the quality of medium-textured agricultural soils. Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi quantificar os teores de carbono orgânico total (COT), carbono das substâncias húmicas (SH), e seus estoques, assim como avaliar a estabilidade estrutural do solo de áreas com diferentes formas de uso sob solo de textura franco arenosa. Amostras de solo foram coletadas em três áreas e uma área de referência: Pastagem permanente (PP), plantio direto (PD), Reserva Particular de Patrimônio Natural em processo de regeneração natural (RPPN) e área de Mata nativa (MN). Foram realizadas análises de massa da serapilheira (MS), densidade do solo (Ds), teores de COT, e estoque de C (EstC), variação do EstC (ΔEstC) e índice de estratificação (IE), fracionamento químico da matéria orgânica do solo (MOS) e determinações dos teores de C dos ácido fúlvico (C-AF), ácido húmico (C-AH) e humina (C-HUM), e seus respectivos estoques (EstC-AF, EstC-AH e EstC-HUM), ΔEstC de cada fração, extrato alcalino (EA=AF+AH), relação C-AF/C-AH e relação EA/C-HUM, além da análise de agregação, sendo determinado o diâmetro médio ponderado (DMP), diâmetro médio geométrico (DMG), índice de sensibilidade (IS) e nível de ordem (NOrd). A área de MN apresentou maior deposição de MS. As áreas de PP e PD tiveram maior Ds. Teores de COT e EstC foram superiores em RPPN, seguido de MN, sendo o IE também foi superior na área em regeneração, e a ΔEstC positiva apenas nesta área. Áreas de PD, RPPN e MN obtiveram maior proporção de C-AF comparado ao C-AH, porém a fração com maior representatividade em todas as áreas foi o C-HUM. As áreas de PP, RPPN e MN obtiveram os melhores indicadores de estabilidade de agregados, como DMP, DMG, IS e NOrd, assim como maior proporção de macroagregados, sendo a área de PD com baixa estabilidade de agregados. De maneira geral foi observada recuperação nos teores de C nos últimos anos na área de RPPN, acarretando maior estocagem de C, o que demonstra recuperação quantitativa de C no solo nesta área após quatro anos de regeneração natural. Abstract This study aimed to quantify total organic carbon (TOC), carbon of humic substances (HS), and their stocks and evaluate the soil structural stability of areas with different uses under sandy loam soil texture. Soil samples were collected from managed areas and a reference area: Permanent Pasture (PP), No-Till (NT), Private Natural Heritage Reserve in the process of natural regeneration (PNHR) and Native Forest (FN). Dry mass analysis, carbon stock quantification, chemical fractionation of soil organic matter and soil aggregation were carried out. The NF area had the highest deposition of litter mass (ML). The PP and NT areas had the highest bulk density (Bd). TOC and Stock-C contents were higher in PNHR, followed by NF, and stratification index (STRATI) was also higher in the regeneration area. The NT, PNHR, and NF areas had a higher proportion of carbon fulvic acid fraction (C-FA) than carbon humic acid fraction (C-HA), but the fraction with the highest representation in all areas was carbon humin fraction (C-HUM). The PP, PNHR, and NF areas obtained the best aggregate stability indicators, as well as a higher proportion of macroaggregates, with the NT area having low aggregate stability. Recovery of C contents was observed in recent years in the area of PNHR, leading to a greater storage of C, which shows a quantitative recovery of C in the soil in this area after four years of natural regeneration. RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi relatar a experiência dos alunos do mestrado profissional em gestão de serviços de saúde acerca da utilização de conceitos da Análise Institucional, para analisar as resistências ao trabalho interprofissional e interdisciplinar na saúde, localizando-as como um analisador do processo e das relações de trabalho. O estudo foi elaborado a partir da vivência e da análise dos diários institucionais, escritos pelos alunos e analisados com base no referencial teórico da Análise Institucional. Observou-se que a resistência ao trabalho interprofissional e interdisciplinar, principalmente por parte dos médicos, atravessa as organizações de saúde, as relações de trabalho e a assistência aos usuários. Entretanto, essa resistência também é exercida por outros profissionais e pelos usuários, o que limita a interdisciplinaridade e a integralidade da assistência à saúde. Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi quantificar os teores de C das frações químicas e físicas da MOS em diferentes sistemas de manejo em um Argissolo textura arenosa. O estudo foi realizado em uma área de referência de Mata Nativa (MN) e três áreas manejadas: pastagem permanente (PP), sistema plantio direto (SPD) e área de Reserva Particular de Patrimônio Natural em processo de regeneração natural (RPPN). Foram coletadas amostras de solos das camadas de 0-0,05, 0,05-0,10 e 0,10-0,20 m. Foi determinado a densidade do solo (Ds) os teores de carbono orgânico total (COT) o fracionamento químico da MOS com determinação dos teores de C dos ácidos fúlvicos (AF), ácidos húmicos (AH) e humina (HUM), com posteriores cálculos das relações AH/AF, EA/HUM, estoque (EstC), fracionamento físico-granulométrico e determinação dos teores de C da matéria orgânica particulada (C-MOP) e índice de manejo de carbono (IMC). Observou-se maiores teores de COT para a área de MN, especialmente nas camadas de 0-0,05 e 0,05-0,10 m. Os teores de C-HUM predominam em relação aos teores de C-AH e C-AF. Os teores de C-AH e de C-HUM foram superiores em MN e SPD. A MN apresentou maiores teores de C-MOP em todas as camadas avaliadas. Para o C-MOM a área de SPD foi superior as demais áreas manejadas. As áreas manejadas apresentaram valores de EstMOP inferiores à MN. Nas duas primeiras camadas, a área de MN apresentou maiores EstMOM. As áreas manejadas apresentaram valores inferiores de IMC em relação a MN. A área de SPD demonstrou que, mesmo em sucessão, contribui para melhoria da fração orgânica do solo ao longo do tempo de adoção, se aproximando às condições da MN. Já as áreas de PP e RPPN evidenciaram que o manejo inadequado favorece na diminuição da qualidade edáfica.

Abstract This study quantified the C content of the chemical and physical fractions of SOM in different management systems in an Argisoil of sandy texture. The study was carried out in a reference area of Native Forest (NF), and in three managed areas: Permanent Pasture (PP), No-Tillage System (NTS) and an area of Private Natural Heritage Reserve (PNHR) in the process of natural regeneration. Soil samples were collected in the layers 0.0-0.05, 0.05-0.10 and 0.10-0.20 m. We assessed the soil density (Sd), total organic carbon (TOC) content, chemical fractionation of SOM with determination of the C contents of the fulvic acids (FA), humic acids (HA) and humin (HUM), with subsequent calculations of the HA/FA ratios, AE/HUM, stock (StockC), physical granulometric fractionation and determination of C contents of particulate organic matter (C-POM) and carbon management index (CMI). Higher TOC contents were observed for the NF area. The C-HA and C-HUM contents were higher in the NF and NTS. NF showed higher C-POM levels in all layers evaluated. For the C-MOM, the NTS area was superior to the other managed areas. The managed areas had lower StockPOM values than the NF. The managed areas had lower CMI values in relation to NF. The NTS area showed that, even in crop succession, it contributes to the improvement of the soil organic fraction over the adoption time. On the other hand, the areas of PP and PNHR showed that inadequate management favors the reduction of edaphic quality.

ABSTRACT Concrete is the most used construction material and thus, being the cement a significant part of this material, it is also widely used around the world. Cement production is responsible for more than 5% of global CO2 emissions, which has been continuously increasing. A solution to reduce the cement content in concretes without loss of performance is thorough the particle packing optimization. This work uses practical numerical simulations through linear programming and the modified Andreasen & Andersen model to reduce the void content of aggregate mixtures and produce concretes with superior and intermediate packing levels. A broad range of distribution modulus “q” values were tested. Deviations between the particle size distribution (PSD) curves were calculated in each step of the process. In this study, mixtures with the smallest deviations – experimental PSD curves closer to the mathematical packing model – did not present the lowest void contents. The distribution modulus “q” directly affects the fine aggregate content in the mixtures: lower q values favors higher fine aggregate contents. For concrete granular skeletons composed by sand and gravel, there is a q value below which sand is the top deviation contributor and above which gravel is the top deviation contributor. Moreover, there is a limit to the distribution modulus after which the void content of aggregate skeletons tends to increase. In this study, that was 0.30. Concretes with superior packing (S concrete) and with the lowest distribution factor (q = 0.25) showed better performance in relation to the other studied concretes, with a higher compressive strength at 91 days and with a binder intensity around 6 at 28 days and below 5 at 91 days.

Resumo Este artigo analisa as diferenças de gênero no processo decisório por meio de uma abordagem metodológica ainda pouco utilizada no Brasil, embora reconhecida pela academia internacional: o experimento econômico, mais especificamente o Jogo do Ultimato, que pertence ao escopo da Teoria dos Jogos. A condução desse experimento envolveu 320 participantes divididos em 5 subgrupos moderados pelo gênero. Os resultados mostraram que, no processo de interação entre indivíduos, a função utilidade deve ser compreendida não apenas com base na premissa da maximização dos resultados econômicos, mas levar em conta as preferências sociais do indivíduo. Assim, um dos principais achados foi identificar maior propensão masculina à rejeição de propostas advindas de mulheres, não obstante serem essas propostas comparativamente mais generosas. Além disso, foi observado que as mulheres tendem a ser mais generosas em suas ofertas em comparação aos homens. Tais achados são inéditos para o Brasil e podem ser um indicador da influência do gênero sobre o processo decisório, com importantes repercussões para o ambiente organizacional.

Abstract This paper analyzes gender differences regarding the decision-making process through a methodological approach, which is still insufficiently used in Brazil. However, it is recognized by the international academy: the economic experiment, specifically the Ultimatum Game, included within the scope of Game Theory. The experiment involved 320 participants divided into 5 subgroups moderated by gender. The results showed that in the process of interaction between individuals, the utility function must be understood not only as based on the premise of maximizing economic results, but it should take into account individual social preferences. Thus, one of the main findings was the identification of a major male predisposition for rejection of proposals coming from women, despite being comparatively more generous. Furthermore, women were observed to be more generous in their offerings compared with men. These finding are pioneering in Brazil and can be considered as an indicator of the influence gender has in the decision-making process, with important implications for the organizational environment.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to estimate the prevalence of intestinal parasites in both cooperative-affiliated and independent waste pickers operating at the municipal sanitary landfill in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, and associate these findings with hemoglobin, eosinophils, vitamin A and C levels and interleukin 5 and 10 (IL-5 and IL-10) production. Biological samples were collected, in addition to clinical, epidemiological, and sociodemographic data. Stool analyzes were based on sedimentation by centrifugation and on spontaneous sedimentation. High-performance liquid chromatography was used to determine vitamin A and C levels. ELISA was employed to quantify interleukins. Intestinal parasites were found in 29 of the 66 subjects assessed (43.9%). Endolimax nana (22.7%), Entamoeba coli (21.1%), Giardia lamblia (6.1%), Entamoeba histolytica/E. dispar (4.5%), and Ascaris lumbricoides (4.5%) were the most prevalent species. Pathogenic parasites were detected in 11 individuals (16.7%). Hypovitaminoses A and C were detected in 19.6% (13/66) and 98.4% (65/66) of subjects, respectively. IL-5 and IL-10 production was observed in 21 (31.8%) and 32 (48.4%) subjects, respectively. Infection with pathogenic intestinal parasites was not a cause of vitamin A and C deficiency or IL-5 and IL-10 production among these workers.

As ferramentas de identificação de sistemas e previsão de séries temporais permitem a concepção de modelos matemáticos baseados em dados numéricos. O problema essencial, nestes casos, é determinar o modelo matemático apropriado. Esse artigo apresenta o projeto de uma rede neural função de base radial (RN-RBF) para a previsão de séries temporais. Na utilização da RN-RBF para previsão de sistemas não-lineares é difícil determinar um conjunto apropriado de centros e aberturas para as funções de ativação Gaussianas para obter uma boa estrutura. Neste trabalho, a configuração da RN-RBF é baseada em uma abordagem híbrida baseada em método de agrupamento de dados de Gustafson-Kessel e procedimento de otimização usando evolução diferencial. O projeto de RN-RBF é validado para previsão de um passo à frente dos preços de troncos de eucalipto para celulose e serraria para ilustrar a eficiência da abordagem híbrida proposta. Além disso, o desempenho do projeto de RN-RBF baseado nos resultados de previsão é apresentado e discutido neste artigo.

Computational tools of system identification and prediction of time series allows for the conception of mathematical models based on numerical data. The key problem in these cases is to find a suitable mathematical model. This paper presents a radial basis function neural network (RBF-NN) design for forecasting time series. Using the RBF-NN for nonlinear system forecasting is quite difficult as one has to choose an appropriate set of centers and spreads for the Gaussian activation functions to achieve a good network structure. In this work, the setup of RBF-NN is based on a hybrid method based on the Gustafson-Kessel clustering method and optimization procedure by differential evolution. The RBF-NN design is validated for the one-step ahead forecasting of eucalyptus wood prices for cellulose and sawmill to illustrate the effectiveness of this hybrid approach. The performance of the RBF-NN design based on forecasting results is presented and discussed in details.
