RESUMO Neste trabalho, destacam-se aprendizados com pesquisa realizada pelo Núcleo Ecologias e Encontros de Saberes para a Promoção Emancipatória da Saúde (Neepes) em parceria com o Centro de Integração na Serra da Misericórdia (CEM) e o Movimento dos Sem Teto da Bahia (MSTB), que atuam em territórios periféricos no Rio de Janeiro e em Salvador. A pesquisa buscou apoiar e sistematizar conhecimentos e práticas emancipatórias de promoção da saúde protagonizados por essas experiências, tendo por base quatro eixos temáticos transversais: alimentação, cuidado, moradia e proteção ambiental, além de comunicação. No artigo, enfocaram-se as reflexões coletivas em relação ao primeiro eixo temático, envolvendo estratégias para promover agroecologia e soberania alimentar, com experiências de produção, circulação e acesso a alimentos saudáveis. Com base nessas reflexões, visou-se contribuir com discussões sobre Territórios Sustentáveis e Saudáveis (TSS), especialmente pelos aprendizados possibilitados com a sistematização das experiências territoriais com base na noção de Promoção Emancipatória da Saúde, que aponta para importantes aportes nas dimensões de justiça ambiental e cognitiva. ABSTRACT In this work, we highlight lessons learned from research carried out by the Nucleus Ecologies and Encounters of Knowledge for Emancipatory Health Promotion (NEEPES) in partnership with the Center of Integration in Serra da Misericórdia (CEM) and the Movement of Homeless People of Bahia (MSTB), in peripheral territories in Rio de Janeiro and Salvador. The research sought to support and systematize knowledge and emancipatory practices of health promotion carried out by these experiences, based on four transversal thematic axes: food, care, housing and environmental protection, in addition to communication. The article focused on collective reflections on the first thematic axis, involving strategies to promote agroecology and food sovereignty, with experiences of production, circulation, and access to healthy food. Based on these reflections, we aim to contribute to discussions regarding the idea of Sustainable and Healthy Territories (SHT), especially through the lessons learned from the systematization of territorial experiences based on the notion of Emancipatory Health Promotion, which points to important contributions from the dimensions of environmental and cognitive justice. ABSTRACT The cultivation of beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is of great importance to the national economy since they are grown in almost all regions of Brazil and the use of biostimulants based on phytohormones and plant vitamins can improve the yield of the crop. This work aimed to evaluate the effects of the application of the vitamin nicotinamide and phytohormones as biostimulants on bean plants. The experimental design was carried out in randomized blocks in a 2 x 5 factorial scheme with 4 replicates. The treatments consisted of the application of five doses of nicotinamide (0, 200, 400, 600 and 800 mg L-1) in the presence or absence of phytohormones containing auxin, gibberellin and cytokinin. The growth characteristics, production components and productivity of the bean grains were evaluated. The use of phytohormones and nicotinamide alone or together favored the growth, production components and grain productivity of the bean plant. The range of 366 to 469 mL L-1 nicotinamide achieved the highest values for the growth variables, production components and grain productivity of the bean plant, with 414 mL L-1 being the most suitable to achieve higher grain productivity. RESUMO A floresta tropical é extremamente explorada e fragmentada, sendo imprescindível a coleta de sementes nativas, a fim de atender a crescente demanda para sua restauração e manutenção da biodiversidade. Dessa forma, objetiva-se selecionar fragmentos florestais potenciais com maior grau de conservação para a colheita de sementes, via utilização e associação da ecologia da paisagem à lógica Fuzzy. O estudo foi realizado na bacia hidrográfica do rio Itapemirim. Foram realizadas as etapas de seleção e fotointerpretação das imagens; determinação do erro; aplicação dos índices métricos de ecologia da paisagem; aplicação da lógica Fuzzy em aplicativo computacional e validação da metodologia in loco. Foram determinados 7.515 fragmentos florestais, correspondendo a 19,21% da área de estudo, com 89,53% de acertos. Os fragmentos menores que 5 ha são os mais frágeis e possuem risco de extinção, enquanto os maiores que 300 ha possuem menor risco de extinção, mesmo com o aumento da borda. Com a aplicação da lógica Fuzzy, a média ficou entre 0,15, desvio padrão de 0,24 e o coeficiente de variação em 161,73 %. O Cenário 1 (FLONA de Pacotuba) possui 10,25% de famílias, 25,92 % de gêneros e 33,62% de espécies a mais que o Cenário 2 (PEAMA Ifes Campus de Alegre), entre os indivíduos identificados. ABSTRACT The tropical forest is extremely exploited and fragmented, making it essential to collect native seeds to meet the growing demand for its restoration and maintenance of biodiversity. Thus, the objective is to select potential forest fragments with a higher degree of conservation for seed harvesting, through the use and association of landscape ecology with fuzzy logic. The study was carried out in the watershed of the Itapemirim river. The stages of selection and photointerpretation of the images were carried out; error determination; application of landscape ecology metric indices; application of fuzzy logic in a computational application and validation of the methodology in loco. 7,515 forest fragments were determined, corresponding to 19.21% of the study area, with 89.53% of hits. ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE To analyze risk factors for sickness absence due to mental disorders among judicial workers in Bahia, Brazil. METHODS Retrospective cohort with follow-up from 2011 to 2016 with 2,660 workers of a judicial sector in Bahia, Brazil. The main outcome measures were survival curves estimated for the independent variables using the Kaplan-Meier product limit estimator and risk factors for the first episode of sickness absence calculated based on the Cox regression model. RESULTS The survival estimate of the population of this study for the event was 0.90 and from the Cox model the risk factors for the first episode of sickness absence due to mental disorders were: female (HR = 1.81), occupation of magistrate (HR = 1.80), and age over 30 years old (HR = 1.84). In addition, the risk for new cases of sickness absence among women reached 4.0 times the risk for men, in 2015. The estimated relative risks of sickness absence and the observed survival reduction behavior over time add information to the literature on sociodemographic and occupational factors associated with sickness absence due to mental disorders in the public sector. CONCLUSION These results highlight the need for further research to more precisely identify vulnerable groups at risk of preventable mental health-related sickness absence in the workplace, better identify the workplace organizational factors that contribute to these disorders as well as studies on the effectiveness of workplace interventions to improve mental health among judicial and other public sectors workers. BACKGROUND The emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants has become a major concern contributing to increased morbidity and mortality worldwide. OBJECTIVES Here we describe the replacement of the Gamma variant of concern (VOC) with Delta in the western Brazilian Amazon. METHODS In this study, we analysed 540 SARS-CoV-2 positive samples determined by qualitative real-time RT-PCR selected in the state of Rondônia between June and December 2021. The positive cohort was sequenced through next-generation sequencing (NGS) and each sample was quantified using real-time RT-qPCR, the whole genome sequence was obtained, SARS-CoV-2 lineages were classified using the system Pango and the maximum likelihood (ML) method was used to conduct phylogenetic analyses. FINDINGS A total of 540 high-quality genomes were obtained, where the Delta VOC showed the highest prevalence making up 72%, with strain AY.43 being the most abundant, while the Gamma VOC was present in 28%, where the P.1 strain was the most frequent. In this study population, only 32.96% (178/540) had completed the vaccination schedule. MAIN CONCLUSIONS This study highlighted the presence of Gamma and Delta variants of SARS-CoV-2 in RO. Furthermore, we observed the replacement of the Gamma VOC with the Delta VOC and its lineages. Resumo Objetivo: descrever os indicadores de afastamento por transtornos mentais de servidores públicos do setor judiciário da Bahia. Métodos: estudo descritivo com dados de uma coorte retrospectiva sobre a casuística de absenteísmo-doença no período de 2011 a 2016. Foi traçado o perfil sociodemográfico e ocupacional, assim como foram estimados os indicadores epidemiológicos. O evento foi caracterizado a partir da frequência e duração dos afastamentos e dos diagnósticos clínicos. Resultados: registraram-se 1.023 eventos, com maior quantidade de episódios entre servidores com mais de 10 anos de serviço. As mulheres constituíram o grupo mais afetado, com prevalências superiores a dos homens em todo o período (76,50/1.000 trabalhadores em 2016). Em 2016, a incidência cumulativa foi de 12,72 casos novos/1.000 trabalhadores entre as mulheres e 5,58 casos novos/1.000 trabalhadores entre os homens. Os transtornos do humor, neuróticos e relacionados ao estresse foram os diagnósticos clínicos mais prevalentes associados ao absenteísmo-doença. Conclusão: o perfil e a dinâmica das ocorrências de absenteísmo-doença entre servidores públicos do setor judiciário da Bahia mostram semelhanças com outros serviços, validando sua externalidade e suscitando desafios para os serviços de saúde, principalmente quanto à detecção precoce do risco de afastamento e da monitorização das condições de trabalho.

Abstract Objective: to describe the indicators of sick leave due to mental disorders among civil servants of the Judiciary Branch in Bahia, Brazil. Methods: descriptive study conducted with data from a retrospective cohort on the casuistry of illness-related absenteeism from 2011 to 2016. We collected data on the participants’ sociodemographic and occupational profile, and estimated their epidemiological indicators. The event was characterized based on the frequency and duration of absences, as well as the clinical diagnoses. Results: 1,023 absence events were recorded, most of which among civil servants in service for more than 10 years. Women were the most affected group, with higher prevalence than men in the entire period (76.50/1000 workers in 2016). In 2016, the cumulative incidence was 12.72 new cases/1000 workers among women and 5.58 new cases/1000 workers among men. Mood, neurotic, and stress-related disorders were the most prevalent clinical diagnoses associated with absenteeism. Conclusion: the profile and dynamics of the illness-related absenteeism among civil servants of the Judiciary Branch in Bahia are similar to those verified in other services, validating the externality of such events and posing challenges for health services, especially regarding early detection of sick leave risk, as well as working conditions monitoring.

Resumo Introdução: A otoneurologia é uma área de conhecimento que tem se expandido muito rapidamente. O estudo do sistema vestibular tem avançado tanto que mesmo definições básicas, como o significado dos sintomas vestibulares, foram apenas recentemente padronizadas. Objetivo: Apresentar uma revisão dos principais assuntos da otoneurologia, inclusive conceitos, diagnóstico e tratamento da otoneurologia, definir a evidência científica atual para facilitar a tomada de decisões e demonstrar as áreas mais carentes de evidência para estimular novas pesquisas. Método: Este texto é fruto do I Fórum Brasileiro de Otoneurologia, que reuniu os principais pesquisadores brasileiros dessa área para uma revisão da literatura. Serão feitos três trabalhos de revisão a serem publicados. Este primeiro abordou as definições e as terapias, o segundo abordará as ferramentas diagnósticas e o terceiro definirá os principais diagnósticos. Cada autor fez um levantamento bibliográfico na base de dados da Lilacs, SciELO, Pubmed e Medline de um determinado assunto. O seu texto foi então submetido aos demais participantes do Fórum por 30 dias para análise. Um capítulo especial, da definição dos sintomas vestibulares, foi traduzido por serviço de tradução oficial e igualmente submetido às demais etapas do processo. Houve então uma reunião presencial em que todos os textos foram apresentados oralmente e houve uma discussão entre os participantes para a definição de um texto consensual para cada capítulo. Os textos consensuais foram então submetidos a uma revisão final por quatro professores de otoneurologia de três universidades brasileiras e, por fim, finalizado. A partir do texto completo, publicado no site da Associação Brasileira de Otorrinolaringologia e Cirurgia Cérvico-Facial, foi escrita esta versão-resumo como artigo de revisão. Resultado: O texto apresenta a tradução oficial para o português da definição dos sintomas vestibulares propostos pela Barany Society e agrupa as principais evidências científicas para cada um das principais terapias existentes para as doenças otoneurológicas. Conclusão: Este texto agrupou de forma racional os principais tópicos de conhecimento a respeito das definições e terapias da otoneurologia, permite ao leitor uma visão ampla da abordagem dos pacientes otoneurológicos baseada em evidências científicas e experiência nacional, que deverá auxiliá-lo na tomada de decisões clínicas, e mostra os assuntos mais carentes de evidência para estimular novos estudos.

Abstract Introduction: Neurotology is a rapidly expanding field of knowledge. The study of the vestibular system has advanced so much that even basic definitions, such as the meaning of vestibular symptoms, have only recently been standardized. Objective: To present a review of the main subjects of neurotology, including concepts, diagnosis and treatment of Neurotology, defining current scientific evidence to facilitate decision-making and to point out the most evidence-lacking areas to stimulate further new research. Methods: This text is the result of the I Brazilian Forum of Neurotology, which brought together the foremost Brazilian researchers in this area for a literature review. In all, there will be three review papers to be published. This first review will address definitions and therapies, the second one will address diagnostic tools, and the third will define the main diseases diagnoses. Each author performed a bibliographic search in the LILACS, SciELO, PubMed and MEDLINE databases on a given subject. The text was then submitted to the other Forum participants for a period of 30 days for analysis. A special chapter, on the definition of vestibular symptoms, was translated by an official translation service, and equally submitted to the other stages of the process. There was then a in-person meeting in which all the texts were orally presented, and there was a discussion among the participants to define a consensual text for each chapter. The consensual texts were then submitted to a final review by four professors of neurotology disciplines from three Brazilian universities and finally concluded. Based on the full text, available on the website of the Brazilian Association of Otorhinolaryngology and Cervical-Facial Surgery, this summary version was written as a review article. Result: The text presents the official translation into Portuguese of the definition of vestibular symptoms proposed by the Bárány Society and brings together the main scientific evidence for each of the main existing therapies for neurotological diseases. Conclusion: This text rationally grouped the main topics of knowledge regarding the definitions and therapies of Neurotology, allowing the reader a broad view of the approach of neurotological patients based on scientific evidence and national experience, which should assist them in clinical decision-making, and show the most evidence-lacking topics to stimulate further study.

RESUMO Objetivo: descrever o processo de construção teórica dos documentos de apoio ao Processo de Enfermagem nos cenários de atendimento à COVID-19. Métodos: trata-se de um relato de experiência da atividade conjunta da Rede de Pesquisa em Processo de Enfermagem, formada por pesquisadores de Instituições de Ensino Superior e de Saúde do Brasil. Resultados: cinco instrumentos foram organizados coletivamente, envolvendo os elementos da prática de enfermagem (diagnósticos, resultados e intervenções de enfermagem) na assistência à comunidade; ao paciente (suspeito ou com COVID-19 leve e moderada, crítico e residente em Instituições de Longa Permanência para Idosos); e ao suporte à saúde do trabalhador de enfermagem, subsidiando igualmente o registro e a documentação durante a pandemia de COVID-19. Considerações finais: valorizar os fenômenos manifestados por famílias/comunidades, pacientes e profissionais de saúde é essencial para sua identificação precoce, intervenção e prevenção de agravos.

ABSTRACT Objective: to describe the theoretical construction process of nursing process support documents in COVID-19 care scenarios. Methods: an experience report of the joint activity of the Brazilian Nursing Process Research Network (Rede de Pesquisa em Processo de Enfermagem) composed of Higher Education and Health Institution researchers in Brazil. Results: five instruments were organized collectively, involving the elements of nursing practice (nursing diagnoses, outcomes and interventions) in assistance for community; for patients (with suspected or mild, moderate, and critical COVID-19 and residents in Nursing Homes); for nursing workers’ health support, also subsidizing registration and documentation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Final considerations: valuing the phenomena manifested by families/communities, patients and health professionals is essential for early detection, intervention, and prevention of diseases.

RESUMEN Objetivo: describir el proceso de construcción teórica de los documentos de respaldo del Proceso de Enfermería en los escenarios de asistencia al COVID-19. Métodos: es un relato de experiencia de la actividad conjunta de la Red de Investigación de Procesos de Enfermería, formada por investigadores de las Instituciones de Educación Superior y Salud de Brasil. Resultados: se organizaron cinco instrumentos de manera colectiva, involucrando elementos de la práctica de enfermería (diagnósticos, resultados e intervenciones de enfermería) en el cuidado comunitario; al paciente (sospechoso o con COVID-19 leve y moderado, crítico y residente en Hogares para Ancianos); y apoyo a la salud del trabajador de enfermería, subsidiando además el registro y documentación durante la pandemia de COVID-19. Consideraciones finales: valorar los fenómenos manifestados por las familias/comunidades, pacientes y profesionales de la salud es fundamental para su identificación temprana, intervención y prevención de enfermedades.

Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) has been prominent in orthopedic implants; however, it is inert, preventing interaction between the implant and adjacent bone tissues. One way to overcome this characteristic is physical modification its on surface by particle leaching promoting greater osseointegration. The objective of this research was to develop and characterize the PEEK using a surface modification technique via particle leaching. For of the samples, a layer deposition of NaCl was used on PEEK. This was subjected to the pressure of 850 kg/cm2 by 390ºC for 20 minutes. After cooling, were subjected to leaching process particles. The results indicated a porous surface exhibiting uniform and homogeneous morphology with defined pores interconected, to in the range of 140-373 µm, with an average diameter of 273 µm. These evidenced the considerable NaCl removal after the leaching process, with cavities from ideal sizes which promotes adequate cellular accommodation and distinct roughness, giving an overall possibility of being able to obtain a material more able to receive the cells while also possibly presenting cell viability. Although the compressive strength presented low values, it can still be suitable for applications in areas with a reduced modulus of elasticity.

ABSTRACT Ethylene-propylene-diene elastomer (EPDM) is employed as thermal insulation for rocket motors, as well as EPDM blends with ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) have been used in the aerospace industry. The quantification of these blends is more common using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometry (FT-IR) by transmission mode, but without discussing sample preparation and methodology error. Considering this fact, a methodology was developed for determining EVA content in binary blend with EPDM samples, by Universal Attenuated Total Reflection (UATR) technique, associated to thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). This last one, it was applied to determine Vinyl Acetate (VA) content in EVA and to identify differences between EPDM/EVA blends. Samples of the analyzed blends showed two VA contents and five proportions of EPDM/EVA: 90/10, 70/30, 50/50, 30/70, and 10/90. The carbonyl stretching vibration band C=O at 1740 cm-1 was used as analytical band in FT-IR quantification. Finally, the results presented excellent accuracy with a good linear correlation coefficient (R > 0.940) and with relative error values lower than 2%, respecting the precision limits of the FT-IR spectrometer.

Resumo: Os laticínios são de grande importância para o Sul da Bahia, pois contribuem para o seu desenvolvimento e diversificação econômica. Porém é necessário atentar para os possíveis impactos ambientais causados pela atividade. Dessa forma, a adoção das técnicas da Produção Mais Limpa (P+L) pode contribuir para a melhoria dos processos produtivos e proporcionar ganhos econômicos, proteção ambiental e melhor ambiente de trabalho. Assim, este estudo teve por objetivo identificar as técnicas adotadas e as oportunidades de P+L em um laticínio no Sul da Bahia. Para isso, foram realizadas uma revisão da literatura, visitas técnicas e aplicações de questionário, a fim de se obter informações de caracterização da empresa, P+L e Gerenciamento Ambiental, aspectos e impactos ambientais relacionados aos processos produtivos. O trabalho revelou que a atividade apresenta potencial poluidor, devido, principalmente, à inexistência de programas ambientais estruturados. Porém, a empresa já vinha adotando algumas práticas ambientais e manifestou interesse em conhecer outras que contribuíssem para a minimização dos impactos e propiciassem ganhos econômicos. Assim, foi possível identificar e apresentar as oportunidades de P+L.

Abstract: Dairy products are of great importance to the South of Bahia, as they contribute to its development and economic diversification. However, it is necessary to pay attention to the possible environmental impacts caused by the corresponding activities. Thus, the adoption of Cleaner Production (CP) techniques can contribute to improving production processes, as well as providing economic benefits, environmental protection and better working environment. This study aims to identify the techniques adopted and opportunities for CP in a dairy industry in southern Bahia. For this, we carried out a literature review, technical visits and a questionnaire in order to obtain characterization information of the company, CP and environmental management, environmental aspects and impacts related to the production processes. The study revealed that dairy industries are potential polluters, mainly due to their lack of structured environmental programs. Nevertheless, the dairy industry in question was already adopting certain environmental practices and showed interest in learning about others that could contribute to minimizing their impacts and propitiate economic gains. Thus, we successfully identified and presented opportunities for CP.

A paracoccidioidomicose (PCM) é causada pelo fungo dimórfico Paracoccidioides brasiliensis (Pb) e corresponde à micose sistêmica de maior prevalência na América Latina. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar a dose resposta de leveduras do fungo para padronização do modelo experimental de artrite séptica. Os experimentos foram realizados com grupos de 14 ratos que receberam doses de 103, 104 ou 105 células de P. brasiliensis (Pb18). Os fungos foram injetados em 50 µL de solução salina em tampão fosfatado (PBS) diretamente na articulação do joelho dos animais. Os seguintes parâmetros foram analisados neste trabalho: a formação de edema nos joelhos infundidos com as células das leveduras e alterações radiológicas, anatopalógicas além de titulação de anticorpos por Elisa. Após 15 dias de infecção, os sinais de inflamação foram evidentes. Aos 45 dias, algumas características de dano e necrose foram observadas na cartilagem articular. A disseminação sistêmica do fungo foi observada em 11% dos animais inoculados, concluiu-se que o modelo experimental é capaz de mimetizar a PCM articular em humanos e que a dose de 105 leveduras representa a dose padrão para o desenvolvimento do modelo.

Paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM) is caused by the dimorphic fungus Paracoccidioides brasiliensis (Pb) and corresponds to prevalent systemic mycosis in Latin America. The aim of the present work was to evaluate the dose response effect of the fungal yeast phase for the standardization of an experimental model of septic arthritis. The experiments were performed with groups of 14 rats that received doses of 103, 104 or 105 P. brasiliensis (Pb18) cells. The fungi were injected in 50 µL of phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) directly into the knee joints of the animals. The following parameters were analyzed in this work: the formation of swelling in knees infused with yeast cells and the radiological and anatomopathological alterations, besides antibody titer by ELISA. After 15 days of infection, signs of inflammation were evident. At 45 days, some features of damage and necrosis were observed in the articular cartilage. The systemic dissemination of the fungus was observed in 11% of the inoculated animals, and it was concluded that the experimental model is able to mimic articular PCM in humans and that the dose of 105 yeast cells can be used as standard in this model.
