Phosphate species can affect aquatic ecosystems, as excess of this nutrient can cause eutrophication, generating environmental impacts. Lamellar double hydroxides have shown promise in removing phosphate at low concentrations (10-50 mg L 1). In this context, lamellar double hydroxides were synthesized interspersed with nitrates and humic substances, searching for a new product that favors phosphorus adsorption. X-ray diffraction showed the presence of characteristic peaks of lamellar double hydroxides and thermogravimetric analysis showed the decomposition behavior of lamellar structure. The adsorption capacity occurred quickly (< 30 min), being more efficient for lamellar double hydroxides with NO3. The maximum adsorption capacity showed results of 35.03 and 44.20 mg g 1 for lamellar double hydroxides with humic substances and lamellar double hydroxides with NO3, respectively. The complexation capacity showed that pH directly influences complexation, being greater for lamellar double hydroxides with humic substances at pH 6.5. Resumen: Hay poca evidencia sobre la eficacia de las psicoterapias para reducir los nuevos intentos de suicidio. Este artículo tiene como objetivo evaluar la efectividad de las intervenciones psicoterapéuticas en la reducción de los intentos de suicidio entre pacientes con intentos previos. Se seleccionaron 17 artículos de cuatro bases de datos: PubMed, Cochrane, APA PsycInfo y LILACS. Seis estudios mostraron diferencias estadísticas que favorecieron la intervención psicoterapéutica en algún momento durante el período de seguimiento. Estas psicoterapias abordaron: resolución de problemas, inducción de esperanza y entrenamiento de habilidades. Al comparar la psicoterapia con el tratamiento habitual, el metanálisis reveló un odds ratio de 0.41 (IC del 95 %, 0.17 a 0.99, p = .05) en el análisis hasta los 12 meses de seguimiento, y un odds ratio de 0.48 (IC del 95 %, 0.30 a 0.78, p < .001) después de 12 meses de seguimiento. Los resultados apuntan a la eficacia de estas intervenciones para reducir los intentos de suicidio adicionales, pero deben analizarse con cautela, dada la heterogeneidad de la muestra, los tratamientos y los comparadores. Esta revisión apoya el desarrollo de estrategias de prevención indicadas para pacientes que han intentado suicidarse.

Abstract: There is little evidence on the effectiveness of psychotherapeutic interventions in reducing new suicide attempts. This article aims to evaluate the effectiveness of psychotherapeutic interventions in reducing suicide attempts among patients with a history of previous attempts. We selected 17 articles from four databases: PubMed, Cochrane, APA PsycInfo and LILACS, in 2023. Six studies showed statistical differences that favored psychotherapeutic intervention at some point during the follow-up period. These psychotherapies addressed: problem-solving, hope induction, skills training. When comparing psychotherapy with usual care, a meta-analysis revealed an odds ratio of 0.41 (95 % CI, 0.17-0.99, p = .05) in the analysis up to 12 months of follow-up, and an odds ratio of 0.48 (95 % CI, 0.30-0.78, p < .001) after 12 months of follow-up. The results indicate the efficacy of these interventions in reducing additional suicide attempts, but they should be analyzed with caution, given the heterogeneity of the sample, treatments, and comparators. This review supports the development of prevention strategies indicated for patients who have attempted suicide.

Abstract This paper presents the results of the archaeological research carried out at the quarry- workshop of Arroyo La Saudade locality. This study was aimed at characterizing the available raw material and the recovered archaeological assemblages. This locality is in the southwestern sector of the Ventania hilly system, in the southeast of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is associated to an outcrop of the Brecha Cerro Colorado unit, formed by good quality quartzite pebbles. On these pebbles, evidence of knapping for the extraction of raw material were detected as well as a large amount of spatially associated lithic artifacts. Two grids were excavated, and surface collections were made. On the recovered lithic assemblage, macroscopic (to characterize its colour and fracture), microscopic (through petrographic microscope) and techno-morphological analysis were conducted. Quartzite from this locality is distinguished, under a microscope, by the presence of a variable, but generally very low, degree of metamorphism, good quality for knapping, and smooth, shiny fracture surfaces. The colours are presented in a limited range, with predominance of ochre and pink. Among the recovered artifacts are cores in different stages of reduction and preparation, tools, and flakes. Some implications of these findings are discussed.

Resumen En este trabajo se presentan los avances en las investigaciones desarrolladas en la localidad cantera-taller Arroyo La Saudade, las cuales estuvieron orientadas a caracterizar la materia prima disponible y los conjuntos arqueológicos recuperados. Dicha localidad se ubica en el sector suroccidental del sistema serrano de Ventania, en el sudoeste de la provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Se encuentra asociada a un afloramiento de la unidad Brecha Cerro Colorado, conformado por rodados de cuarcita de buena calidad para la talla. Sobre estos rodados se identificaron evidencias de talla para la extracción de materia prima, así como una gran cantidad de artefactos líticos en las inmediaciones. Se excavaron dos cuadrículas y se realizaron recolecciones superficiales. Sobre los artefactos recuperados se desarrollaron análisis macroscópicos (a los fines de caracterizar su color y fractura), microscópicos (por medio de microscopio petrográfico) y tecno-morfológicos. Las cuarcitas de esta localidad se distinguen, bajo microscopio, por la presencia de rasgos que denotan un grado variable de metamorfismo, pero generalmente muy bajo, una buena calidad para la talla y superficies de fractura lisas y brillantes. Se presentan en una gama acotada de colores, con predominio de los ocres y rosados. Entre los artefactos recuperados se encuentran núcleos con diferente grado de reducción y preparación, instrumentos y productos de talla. Se discuten algunas implicancias de estos hallazgos.

Resumo O sarcoma de Ewing extraesquelético (SEE) é um tumor primário incomum dos tecidos moles profundos. Clinicamente, as lesões cutâneas costumam ter crescimento rápido, agressivo, com risco de metástase, sendo mais comum na região paravertebral e nos membros inferiores. O diagnóstico definitivo é feito através do estudo anatomopatológico. Apresenta-se neste relato o caso de uma paciente de 21 anos, com tumoração em flanco direito há 2 meses, submetida a abordagens cirúrgicas em serviço de pronto atendimento, evoluindo com piora progressiva do quadro.

Abstract Extraskeletal Ewing’s sarcoma is an unusual primary tumor of the deep soft tissues. Clinically, skin lesions are usually fast-growing and aggressive, with a risk of metastasis, and are more common in the paravertebral region and lower limbs. The ultimate diagnosis is made by anatomopathological study. This report describes the case of a 21-year-old patient with a tumor on her right flank that had been present for the past 2 months. She underwent surgery in an emergency department and progressively became more ill.

Abstract This case report presents a rare manifestation of a pigmented cutaneous metastasis of breast carcinoma with a zosteriform distribution. A 77-year-old woman, previously diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast, exhibited pigmented lesions resembling shingles on the left thoracodorsal region. Dermoscopic and histopathological examinations confirmed invasive carcinoma of mammary origin associated with melanocytic colonization. The zosteriform pattern, though rare, has been reported in cases of cutaneous metastasis from breast cancer. Treatment options include addressing the primary tumor and direct approaches such as surgery or radiotherapy for skin lesions. This report highlights the importance of clinical suspicion, histopathological evaluation, and immunohistochemical examinations for accurate diagnosis, enabling timely and appropriate treatment for improved patient outcomes.

Resumo Este relato de caso apresenta uma manifestação rara de metástase cutânea pigmentada de câncer de mama com distribuição zosteriforme. Uma mulher de 77 anos, previamente diagnosticada com carcinoma ductal invasivo de mama, apresentava lesões pigmentadas semelhantes a herpes-zóster na região toracodorsal esquerda. Os exames dermatoscópico e histopatológico confirmaram carcinoma invasivo de origem mamária associado à colonização melanocítica. O padrão zosteriforme, embora raro, já foi relatado em casos de metástases cutâneas de câncer de mama. As opções de tratamento incluem abordar o tumor primário e abordagens diretas, como cirurgia ou radioterapia para lesões cutâneas. Este relatório destaca a importância da suspeita clínica, avaliação histopatológica e exames imuno-histoquímicos para um diagnóstico preciso, permitindo um tratamento oportuno e apropriado para melhores resultados dos pacientes.

Abstract This work presents the first results obtained from developing an experimental program that aims to generate a local frame of reference for the fatty acid profiles of the main resources available in the lower basin of the Colorado river (Buenos Aires district). In this case, the purpose was to identify the fatty acid composition of fish resources and evaluate the main transformations they underwent during cooking. Replicas of archaeological vessels were made, marine fish of different species (sea catfish, whitemouth croaker, narrownose smooth-hound, conger eel, and whiting) were boiled, and the fatty acids of the raw and cooked meat, the cooking liquid, and those of the contents on the internal walls of the vessels were measured. The results obtained showed that fatty acids could be detected in all samples. However, if those identified in the raw meat of each species are compared with those detected after boiling, it is observed that the cooking event generated the loss and/or degradation of some fatty acids, mainly unsaturated ones. Fatty acids (e.g., stearic, palmitic, and oleic acid) present in most food resources (e.g., herbivores and vegetables) were preserved in the vessels. However, fatty acids detected in the vessels such as the polyunsaturated belonging to the C20 group of sea catfish and whitemouth croaker, the eicosenoic acid of sea catfish, and the monounsaturated of the C22 group identified for the conger eel could be considered diagnostic fatty acids of marine fish.

Resumen En este trabajo se presentan los primeros resultados obtenidos del desarrollo de un programa experimental que tiene como objetivo generar un marco de referencia local de los perfiles de ácidos grasos de los principales recursos disponibles en el curso inferior del río Colorado (Pcia. de Buenos Aires). En este caso, el propósito fue conocer la composición de ácidos grasos de recursos ictícolas y evaluar las principales transformaciones que estos sufren durante la cocción. Para ello, se confeccionaron réplicas de vasijas arqueológicas, se hirvieron peces marinos de distintas especies (bagre de mar, corvina rubia, gatuzo, congrio y pescadilla) y se analizaron los ácidos grasos de la carne cruda y cocida, del líquido de cocción y de los contenidos en las paredes internas de las vasijas. Los resultados obtenidos evidenciaron que en todas las muestras de peces se pudieron detectar ácidos grasos. Sin embargo, si se comparan los identificados en la carne cruda de cada especie con los detectados con posterioridad al hervido, se observa que el evento de cocción generó la pérdida y/o degradación de algunos de ellos, principalmente de los ácidos insaturados. En las vasijas se preservaron los ácidos grasos (e.g., ácido esteárico, palmítico y oleico) que comúnmente están presentes en la mayoría de los recursos alimenticios (e.g., herbívoros, vegetales). No obstante, los ácidos grasos detectados en las vasijas como los poliinsaturados pertenecientes al grupo C20 de bagre de mar y corvina rubia, el ácido eicosenoico de bagre de mar y el monoinsaturado del grupo C22 identificado para el congrio podrían ser considerados ácidos grasos diagnósticos de peces marinos.

Resumo A estomatite química é um tipo de lesão traumática causada pelo contato de substâncias químicas e medicamentos com os tecidos bucais, resultando em danos clinicamente significativos. Nesse contexto, é relatado o caso de um paciente do sexo masculino com 14 anos, portador de doença renal crónica, em terapia renal substitutiva (diálise peritoneal) e uso de carbonato de cálcio via cápsulas orais para tratamento. Devido a complicações da diálise peritoneal, o paciente apresentou um quadro de peritonite bacteriana, necessitando de internamento em unidade de terapia intensiva e alteração do modo de terapia dialítica para hemodiálise. Durante o período de internamento, foi observado o desenvolvimento de lesões orais significativas devido à administração inadequada de carbonato de cálcio, interferindo na evolução do estado geral de saúde do paciente e exigindo a assistência de uma equipa odontológica para diagnóstico e tratamento. O paciente foi diagnosticado com estomatite química. Durante o exame clínico foi possível observar a presença de lesões ulceradas e hemorrágicas localizadas no lábio, mucosas jugais, palato duro e palato mole. A fotobiomodulação a laser foi utilizada como tratamento associada ao corticosteróide. Cada região recebeu dez pontos de 1 J, de forma que foram fornecidos 60 J de energia por dia/sessão. No total, foram fornecidos 480 J de energia com um tempo total de irradiação de 4800 s. O paciente relatou melhora considerável dos sintomas álgicos após a primeira sessão de fotobiomodulação a laser. Abstract Chemical stomatitis is a type of traumatic injury caused by contact of chemical substances and drugs with oral tissues, resulting in clinically significant damage. This case reports a 14-year-old male patient with chronic kidney disease on renal replacement therapy (peritoneal dialysis) and using calcium carbonate via oral capsules for treatment. Due to peritoneal dialysis complications, the patient developed bacterial peritonitis, requiring intensive care unit admission and alteration of his dialysis therapy mode to hemodialysis. During the hospitalization period, significant oral lesions developed due to inadequate calcium carbonate administration, interfering with the evolution of the patient’s general health and requiring the assistance of a dental team for diagnosis and treatment. The patient was diagnosed with chemical stomatitis. During the clinical examination, ulcerated, bleeding lesions were observed on the lip, jugal mucous membranes, hard palate, and soft palate. Laser photobiomodulation was used as a treatment associated with a topical corticosteroid. Each region received ten 1 J/point, and 60 J of energy were delivered per day/session. In total, 480 J of energy were delivered with a total irradiation time of 4800 s. The patient reported considerable improvement in pain symptoms after the first laser-photobiomodulation session. After 8 sessions, the patient had improved, and laser photobiomodulation proved effective for treating oral lesions.

Resumo Introdução: a toxicidade financeira pode elevar os custos com cuidados em saude, alem de impactar negativamente a adesao terapéutica e a qualidade de vida relacionada a saude dos pacientes com cancer no ambito do sistema publico de saude. Objetivo: correlacionar a toxicidade financeira com a qualidade de vida relacionada a saude de adultos com cancer durante a pandemia da covid-19. Materiais e método: estudo observacional, transversal, correlacional com 179 pacientes atendidos pelo Sistema Unico de Saude, em uma capital do sul do Brasil. A coleta de dados ocorreu de setembro de 2021 a dezembro de 2022, utilizando questionarios com dados sociodemograficos e clinicos, e o COmprehensive Score for Financial Toxicity e o Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-General. A correlacao entre toxicidade financeira e qualidade de vida relacionada a saude foi avaliada com o coeficiente de correlacao de Spearman a um nivel de significancia de 5 %. Resultados: a correlacao entre a toxicidade financeira e a qualidade de vida relacionada a saude foi de 0,41 (p-valor < 0,001). O escore de toxicidade financeira e de qualidade de vida relacionada a saude foi de 20,1/44 e 73,3/108, respectivamente. Conclusão: este estudo revelou que, quanto menor a toxicidade financeira, melhor a qualidade de vida relacionada a saude dos pacientes. Nesse sentido, reconhecer a presenca da toxicidade financeira no itinerario terapeutico podera contribuir para melhorar a adesao ao tratamento e a qualidade de vida relacionada a saude.

Abstract Introduction: Financial toxicity can increase healthcare costs, in addition to negatively impacting the therapeutic adherence and healthrelated quality of life of cancer patients within the public healthcare system. Objective: To correlate financial toxicity with the adults living with cancer health-related quality of life during the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and Methods: This is an observational, cross-sectional, correlational study conducted with 179 patients receiving care from the Unified Health System in a capital city in southern Brazil. Data collection was performed from September 2021 to December 2022, using questionnaires containing sociodemographic and clinical data, and the Comprehensive Score for Financial Toxicity and the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-General. The correlation between financial toxicity and health-related quality of life was assessed using Spearman’s correlation coefficient at a 5 % significance level. Results: The correlation between financial toxicity and health-related quality of life was 0.41 (p-value < 0.001). The financial toxicity and health-related quality of life scores were 20.1/44 and 73.3/108, respectively. Conclusion: This study has found that the lower the financial toxicity, the better the patients’ health-related quality of life. In this sense, recognizing the presence of financial toxicity in the treatment course could help improve adherence to treatment and health-related quality of life.

Introduction Treatment of hemophilia A in Brazil is offered to all patients at no cost. However, several unmet medical needs exist. Method In this study, we applied the Delphi method to discuss with seven hemophilia A specialists the challenges that patients and the health system face regarding hemophilia A treatment and opportunities for improvement. Results A consensus was obtained regarding the number of weekly infusions and patient adherence to treatment. The bleeding profile, unfavourable pharmacokinetics (PKs), low adherence and high daily activity were patient profiles that would benefit from using the extended half-life (EHL) recombinant factor VIII (rFVIII). The advantages of treatment with the EHL rFVIII were the lower number of infusions per week, which could increase patient adherence and decrease the risk of bleeds, due to a more constant plasma level, a lower value. Additionally, the EHL rFVIII could improve quality of life, especially in patients with high daily activity, such as adolescents and young adults. The panelists mentioned that EHL rFVIII, if available, could be offered first to the priority group (adolescents between 12 and 19 years old), followed by adults (20 to 64 years old) and elderly people (over 65 years old). Abstract To date, hydroxyurea is the only effective and safe drug that significantly reduces morbidity and mortality of individuals with Sickle cell disease. Twenty years of real-life experience has demonstrated that hydroxyurea reduces pain attacks, vaso-occlusive events, including acute chest syndrome, the number and duration of hospitalizations and the need for transfusion. Resumo Os anos finais do Ensino Fundamental são caracterizados por desafios interpessoais e acadêmicos, além de elevados níveis de abandono e reprovação escolar. Porém, há poucas pesquisas que visam investigar esse período da trajetória educativa, de modo a identificar recursos pessoais e contextuais. Assim, este estudo teve por objetivo analisar perfis de ajustamento psicossocial de estudantes, considerando fatores de risco (exposição à violência e discriminação cotidiana), proteção (apoio social e clima escolar) e indicador de ajustamento (satisfação de vida). Participaram 709 alunos que frequentavam o 7º, 8º e 9º ano escolas públicas. A análise de clusters indicou dois perfis: resiliente, com valores altos de indicadores de risco e bom ajustamento; vulnerável, com índices altos de risco e baixo ajustamento. Conclui-se que investir na redução dos fatores de risco e potencialização de fatores de proteção, por meio de programas preventivos, mostra-se essencial ao desenvolvimento.

Abstract: The end of the middle school is characterized by interpersonal and academic challenges, in addition to high levels of school dropout and failure. However, there are few studies that aim to investigate this period of the educational trajectory, in order to identify personal and contextual resources. Thus, this study aimed to analyze psychosocial adjustment profiles of students, considering risk factors (exposure to violence and daily discrimination), protection (social support and school climate) and adjustment indicator (life satisfaction). 709 students who attended the 7th, 8th and 9th grade of public schools participated. Through cluster analysis, profiles were identified: resilient, with high values of risk indicators with good adjustment; vulnerable, with high-risk indices and low adjustment. It is concluded that investing in the reduction of risk factors and enhancement of protective factors, through preventive programs, is essential for the development.

Résumé: Les dernières années du primaire sont caractérisées par des défis interpersonnels et scolaires, en plus de niveaux élevés de décrochage et d’échec scolaires. Cependant, peu d’études visent à investiguer cette période du parcours scolaire, afin d’identifier des ressources personnelles et contextuelles. Ainsi, cette étude visait à analyser les profils d’adaptation psychosociale des étudiantes, en tenant compte des facteurs de risque (exposition à la violence et à la discrimination quotidienne), de la protection (soutien social et du climat scolaire) et de l’indicateur d’adaptation (satisfaction de la vie). 709 étudiantes qui fréquentaient les 7e, 8e et 9e années des écoles publiques y ont participé. Grâce à l’analyse de cluster, des profils ont été identifiés: résilients, avec des valeurs élevées d’indicateurs de risque avec un bon ajustement ; vulnérables, avec des indices à haut risque et un faible ajustement. Resumen: Los últimos años de la escuela secundária se caracterizan por desafíos interpersonales y académicos, además de altos niveles de deserción y fracaso escolar. Sin embargo, son pocos los estudios que tienen como objetivo investigar este período de la trayectoria educativa, con el fin de identificar recursos personales y contextuales. El objetivo fue analizar perfiles de ajuste psicosocial de los estudiantes, considerando factores de riesgo (exposición a la violencia y discriminación diaria), protección (apoyo social y clima escolar) y ajuste indicador (satisfacción con la vida). Participaron 709 estudiantes que cursaban los grados 7º, 8º y 9º de escuelas públicas. Análisis de cluster identificaron perfiles: resiliente, con valores altos de indicadores de riesgo con buen ajuste; vulnerable, con índices de alto riesgo y bajo ajuste. Se concluye que invertir en la reducción de factores de riesgo y potenciación de factores protectores, a través de programas preventivos, es fundamental para el desarrollo.

Reuse made by the separation of whey can reduce the waste of human milk. However, the authors are not aware of the literature on treatments in human whey, made available by pasteurization holder, freeze-drying, spray drying, and high hydrostatic pressure. In this context, the present study applied treatments to human whey and evaluated their lipid and immunological quality. Among the results, a different formation in the triacylglycerol profile was evidenced after the application of spray drying and high hydrostatic pressure, while pasteurization and freeze-drying presented ion intensity close to the control human whey. In addition, pasteurization proved to be adequate for lipid nutritional quality and transformation factor-β1 (TGF-β1) concentration, while an increase in interleukin-10 (IL-10) levels was promoted, between 73 and 80%, after freeze-drying, spray drying, and high hydrostatic pressure. Through the principal component analysis, it is noteworthy that the processes presented divergences in terms of the effects caused, with similarity only between pasteurization and freeze-drying in the composition of fatty acids. However, it was observed that all processes were able to maintain the nutrients. RESUMO: A produção atual de grandes culturas, como Glycine max L. tem se mostrado cada vez mais adepta da utilização de bioinsumos, como a aplicação de inóculos promotores do crescimento vegetal. No entanto, avaliações do potencial de isolados bacterianos de solos com diferentes históricos de tempo de uso agrícola ainda são escassos e os métodos para isolamento e testagem de micro-organismos multifuncionais precisam ser continuamente inovados e melhorados. Assim, usamos plantas iscas de G. max para atrair rizobactérias de solos obtidos de três áreas com diferentes históricos de cultivo de soja. Avaliamos a influência do manejo e das características dos solos sobre a população de bactérias solubilizadoras de fosfato. Em seguida, testamos o potencial multifuncional das rizobactérias isoladas para solubilização de fosfato de cálcio (CaHPO4) e fosfato de ferro (FePO4), considerando seu potencial como inoculantes microbianos no futuro. O uso de plantas iscas permitiu o isolamento de 139 rizobactérias solubilizadoras de fosfato, incluindo quatro cepas com potencial multifuncional. ABSTRACT: The current production of major crops, such as Glycine max L., has become increasingly adept on the use of bio-inputs, such as application of plant growth-promoting inocula. However, the evaluation of the potential of bacterial isolates from soils with different time histories of agricultural use are still scarce, and methods for isolation and testing of multifunctional microorganisms need to be continuously innovated and improved. Thus, we used G. max bait plants to attract rhizobacteria from soils obtained from three areas with different time histories of soybean cultivation. We evaluated the influence of the management and characteristics of soils on the phosphate-solubilizing bacterial population. We then tested the multifunctional potential of the isolated rhizobacteria for calcium phosphate (CaHPO4) and iron phosphate (FePO4) solubilization, considering their potential as microbial inoculants in the future. The use of bait plants enabled the isolation of 139 phosphate solubilizing rhizobacteria, including four strains with multifunctional potential. The largest number of solubilizing bacteria was obtained from the interaction of bait plants with soil from an area with a history of soybean cultivation for thirty consecutive years.
