Abstract: Aim In this study, we investigated the distribution of Anabaenopsis elenkinii and Limnospira platensis in the saline-alkaline lakes of Nhecolândia (Pantanal wetland) and evaluated the impact of pH, temperature, and nitrogen on their growth and development to understand their ecological responses, showing insights into their ecophysiology in both cultured and natural environments. Methods Both species were collected in the subsurface, using a plastic bottle (200 mL) and the parameters temperature, conductivity, and pH were measured in situ. From these samples, the strains A. elenkinii CCIBt1059 and L. platensis CCIBt3335 were isolated and underwent six different cultivation treatments, in triplicate, during 30 days, with daily cell count, photoperiod of 12-12 hours of light-dark, and light intensity between 80-100 µmol photons m-2.s-1, using BG-11 modified medium, as follows: nitrate concentration experiments were performed with a 750 mg.L-1 NaNO3 (50%) and a nitrogen-free condition (0%) (T1 vs T2); temperature experiments were performed with 30 °C and 35 °C (T3 vs T4); pH experiments with 10.5 and 7.0 (T5 vs T6). The adopted control conditions were BG-11m medium (3% NaNO3, 45 mg.L-1), pH adjusted to 9.5, and temperature set at 25 °C. Results We have found that the treatment with the highest nitrogen availability (T1), pH of 9.5, and a temperature of 25 °C, provides the most favorable conditions for the growth of both studied species. In nature, A. elenkinii occurred predominantly between pH 9.04 to 10.4 (average 9.8) and L. platensis at pH 9.22 to 10.23 (mean 9.9), highlighting the alkaliphilic nature of these species. Furthermore, we observed that temperature influences the frequency of heterocyte formation in A. elenkinii. At elevated temperatures (30 and 35 °C), the frequency of heterocytes was higher compared to 25 °C during the exponential growth phase, indicating that increased heterocyte formation is a strategy in response to temperature stress. Conclusions This research provides valuable insights into the ecological aspects and optimization of the cultivation of the two species studied, which hold ecological significance to saline lakes. Further studies are recommended to explore their potential biotechnological applications. Resumo: Objetivo Neste estudo, investigamos a distribuição de Anabaenopsis elenkinii e Limnospira platensis nas lagoas salino-alcalinas do Pantanal da Nhecolândia e avaliamos o impacto do pH, temperatura e nitrogênio no crescimento e desenvolvimento dessas espécies para entender suas respostas ecológicas, mostrando insights em sua ecofisiologia em ambientes cultivados e naturais. Métodos Ambas as espécies foram coletadas em garrafas plástica (200 mL) e os parâmetros temperatura, condutividade e pH foram medidos in situ. A partir dessas amostras, as cepas A. elenkinii CCIBt1059 e L. platensis CCIBt3335 foram isoladas e submetidas a seis diferentes tratamentos de cultivo, em triplica, durante 30 dias, com contagem de células diárias, fotoperíodo 12-12 horas de claro-escuro e intensidade luminosa 80-100 µmol fótons m-2.s-1, utilizando meio BG-11 modificado, a saber: experimentos de concentração de nitrato foram realizados com NaNO3 750 mg.L-1 (50%) e uma condição livre de nitrogênio (0%) (T1 vs T2); experimentos de temperatura foram realizados com 30 °C e 35 °C (T3 vs T4); e experimentos de pH com 10,5 e 7,0 (T5 vs T6). As condições de controle adotadas foram meio BG-11m (3% NaNO3, 45 mg.L-1), pH ajustado para 9,5 e temperatura regulada para 25 °C. Resultados Descobrimos que o tratamento com maior disponibilidade de nitrogênio (T1), pH 9,5, temperatura 25 °C, proporciona as condições mais favoráveis para o crescimento de ambas as espécies estudadas. Na natureza, A. elenkinii ocorreu predominantemente entre pH 9,04 a 10,4 (média 9,8) e L. platensis em pH 9,22 a 10,23 (média 9,9), ressaltando a natureza alcalifílica dessas espécies. Além disso, observamos que a temperatura influencia a frequência de formação de heterócitos em A. elenkinii. Em temperaturas elevadas (30 e 35 °C), a frequência de heterócitos foi maior em comparação com 25 °C durante a fase de crescimento exponencial, indicando que o aumento da formação de heterócitos é uma estratégia em resposta ao estresse térmico. Conclusões Esta pesquisa fornece informações valiosas sobre os aspectos ecológicos e otimização do cultivo das duas espécies estudadas, que possuem importância ecológica para as lagoas salinas. Mais estudos são recomendados para explorar suas potenciais aplicações biotecnológicas. Abstract A checklist of recent and fossil fishes of the Order Characiformes is presented herein and believed to be complete through 2022. A total of 47 collaborators checked and provided information about their taxa of expertise. The list is arranged in alphabetical order by family and then genus and includes all available synonyms. From a total of 3,087 species group names and 527 genus group names, 2,334 species are currently treated as valid, and assigned to 301 genera and 24 families. This total includes 25 species known only from the fossil record, of which 21 are assigned to eight extant families and four are Incertae sedis in Characiformes, but does not include five species based on fossil which were wrongly treated in Characiformes. The status of 79 nominal species remains unresolved. When there are two competing hypotheses about the validity of a name, one of them is chosen and the alternate interpretation is provided in the remark section of that name. Distributional summaries are presented as numbers that correspond to areas for which there is a record of occurrence of the species. Resumo Uma lista de peixes recentes e fósseis da Ordem Characiformes é apresentada e acredita-se que a lista esteja completa até 2022. Ao todo, 47 colaboradores verificaram e forneceram informações sobre táxons de sua especialidade. A lista está organizada em ordem alfabética por família e em seguida gênero e inclui todos os sinônimos disponíveis. De um total de 3.087 nomes de grupos de espécies e 527 nomes de grupos de gêneros, 2.334 espécies são atualmente tratadas como válidas e atribuídas a 301 gêneros e 24 famílias. Este total inclui 25 espécies fósseis, das quais 21 são incluídas em oito famílias recentes e quatro são Incertae sedis em Characiformes, mas não inclui cinco espécies baseadas em fósseis que foram incorretamente consideradas como Characiformes. O status de 79 espécies nominais permanece não resolvido. Quando há duas hipóteses concorrentes sobre a validade de um nome, uma delas é escolhida e a interpretação alternativa é fornecida na seção de comentários do nome em questão. ABSTRACT Objectives. To assess the frequency of symptoms in patients with Oropouche fever and compare them with those observed in patients with dengue and other arboviral diseases. Methods. A systematic review was conducted following the MOOSE and PRISMA reporting guidelines. The review included studies on acute clinical manifestations in patients with Oropouche fever. Searches were conducted in PubMed, Virtual Health Library, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar up to September 2024. The symptoms of Oropouche fever were compared to those of dengue and other arboviral diseases. Certainty of evidence was assessed using the GRADE approach. Results. A total of 23 studies covering 3648 patients with Oropouche fever were included. The most frequent symptoms in patients with Oropouche virus infection were fever (97%) and headache (86%). There was no difference in frequency of fever or headache between patients with Oropouche and dengue. However, odynophagia (28%) and abdominal pain (15%) were more frequent in Oropouche than in dengue, with odds ratios (ORs) of 3.20 and 2.50, respectively. Myalgia (69%) and arthralgia (57%) were less frequent in Oropouche fever than in dengue. Conclusions. Fever and headache are common in Oropouche virus infection, but do not help discriminate it from dengue. However, odynophagia and abdominal pain are more frequent in patients with Oropouche fever, while myalgia, arthralgia, and rash are more prevalent in dengue. These findings may aid in differential diagnosis in areas of arboviral co-circulation. Further studies on the recurrence and duration of symptoms are needed to improve diagnostic strategies.

RESUMO Objetivos. Avaliar a frequência de sintomas em pacientes com febre do Oropouche e compará-los aos observados na dengue e em outras arboviroses. Métodos. Revisão sistemática, com base nas diretrizes MOOSE e PRISMA, incluindo estudos sobre manifestações clínicas agudas em pacientes com febre do Oropouche. A busca incluiu as bases de dados PubMed, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, Cochrane Library e Google Scholar e recuperou documentos publicados até setembro de 2024. Os sintomas da febre do Oropouche foram comparados com os da dengue e de outras arboviroses, e a certeza foi avaliada usando a abordagem GRADE. Resultados. Foram incluídos 23 estudos com 3 648 pacientes com a febre do Oropouche. Os sintomas mais frequentes nesses pacientes foram febre (97%) e cefaleia (86%). Não houve diferença na frequência de febre e cefaleia entre os pacientes com febre do Oropouche e com dengue. No entanto, a odinofagia (28%) e a dor abdominal (15%) foram mais frequentes na febre do Oropouche que na dengue (razões de chances de 3,20 e 2,50, respectivamente). Mialgias (69%) e artralgias (57%) foram menos frequentes em pacientes com febre do Oropouche que em pacientes com dengue. Conclusões. Febre e cefaleia são comuns na febre de Oropouche, mas não ajudam a diferenciá-la da dengue. Por outro lado, odinofagia e dor abdominal são mais frequentes nos pacientes com febre do Oropouche, ao passo que mialgia, artralgia e exantema são mais prevalentes na dengue. Esses achados podem ajudar no diagnóstico diferencial em áreas de cocirculação de arbovírus. São necessários mais estudos sobre a recorrência e a duração dos sintomas para aprimorar as estratégias de diagnóstico.

Se realizó una revisión sistemática basada en MOOSE y PRISMA; se incluyeron estudios sobre manifestaciones clínicas agudas en pacientes con oropouche. La búsqueda incluyó las bases de datos PubMed, Biblioteca Virtual en Salud, Cochrane Library y Google Scholar hasta septiembre de 2024. Se compararon los síntomas del oropouche con los del dengue y otras arbovirosis, y se valoró la certeza con el enfoque GRADE. Resultados. Se incluyeron 23 estudios con 3 648 pacientes con oropouche. Los síntomas más frecuentes en pacientes con oropouche fueron fiebre (97%) y cefaleas (86%). No hubo diferencias en la frecuencia de fiebre ni cefaleas entre pacientes con oropouche y dengue. Sin embargo, la odinofagia (28%) y el dolor abdominal (15%) fueron más frecuentes en el oropouche que en el dengue (OR 3,20 y 2,50, respectivamente). Las mialgias (69%) y las artralgias (57%) fueron menos frecuentes en los pacientes con oropouche en comparación con el dengue. Conclusiones. La fiebre y las cefaleas son frecuentes en la fiebre de Oropouche, pero no ayudan a diferenciarlo del dengue. En cambio, la odinofagia y el dolor abdominal son más frecuentes en los pacientes con oropouche, mientras que las mialgias, las artralgias y el exantema prevalecen más en el dengue. Estos hallazgos pueden ayudar en el diagnóstico diferencial en áreas de cocirculación arboviral. Se requieren estudios adicionales sobre la recurrencia y la duración de los síntomas para mejorar las estrategias diagnósticas.

Resumen Introducción: El tipo de uso del suelo que rodea los remanentes de bosque tropical puede generar cambios en las características de las poblaciones y comunidades vegetales. En consecuencia, puede haber una reducción significativa en los procesos de polinización y dispersión de las diásporas. Por lo tanto, provocando cambios en algunos parámetros de la lluvia de semillas. Objetivo: Caracterizar y comparar la densidad de semillas, la riqueza de especies, la composición florística, el hábito, el síndrome de dispersión y la categoría sucesional de la lluvia de semillas entre fragmentos urbanos y rurales de Mata Atlántica, en las estaciones climáticas del 2015 y 2016. Métodos: Las áreas de estudio se definieron luego del mapeo y cuantificación de las ocupaciones urbanas y rurales alrededor de los remanentes, con base en imágenes satelitales. En cada fragmento se instalaron 36 colectores de 0.25 m2. El material fue recolectado mensualmente durante dos años consecutivos. Resultados: La riqueza de lluvia de semillas fue mayor en el fragmento urbano durante la estación lluviosa en los dos años, mientras que fue similar entre los fragmentos en la estación seca. La densidad de semillas en el fragmento rural fue mayor que en el urbano durante la estación lluviosa; no varió en urbano entre años o entre estaciones; y fue mayor en el fragmento rural en la estación lluviosa del primer año. Hubo una diferencia en la composición florística de la lluvia de semillas entre los fragmentos a lo largo del tiempo. Las variaciones en los atributos funcionales de hábito, síndrome de dispersión y categoría sucesional, fueron explicadas por las variables fragmento, estación y año. Conclusiones: Las diferencias en las características de la lluvia de semillas entre los fragmentos podrían reflejar la heterogeneidad espacial y temporal, debido a los diversos usos del suelo y presiones externas (acciones antropogénicas) presentes en el entorno de los fragmentos de bosque y variación temporal de la precipitación.

Abstract Introduction: The type of land use surrounding the remnants of tropical forest may generate changes in the characteristics of plant populations and communities. Consequently, there may be a significant reduction in processes of pollination and diasporas dispersion. Therefore, causing changes in some parameters of seed rain. Objective: To characterize and compare seed density, species richness, floristic composition, habit, dispersal syndrome, and successional category of seed rain between urban and rural fragments of Atlantic Forest, in the 2015 and 2016 weather seasons. Methods: The study areas were defined after mapping and quantification of urban and rural occupations around the remnants, based on satellite images. In each fragment, were installed 36 collectors of 0.25 m2. The material was collected monthly during two consecutive years. Results: Seed rain richness was higher in the urban fragment during the rainy season in the two years, whereas it was similar between the fragments in the dry season. The seed density in the rural fragment was higher than in the urban during the rainy season; did not vary in urban between years or between seasons; and it was higher in the rural fragment in the rainy season of one year. There was a difference in the floristic composition of the seed rain between the fragments along time. The variations in the functional attributes of habit, dispersal syndrome, and successional category, were explained by the variables fragment, season, and year. Conclusions: Differences in the characteristics of the seed rain between the fragments might reflect the spatial and temporal heterogeneity, due to the diverse uses of the soil and external pressures (anthropogenic actions) present in the surroundings of the forest fragments and temporal variation in precipitation.

RESUMO Sabe-se que a massa corporal afeta a força muscular e o resultado de alguns testes funcionais, de modo que pessoas mais pesadas e altas serão mais fortes que as mais leves e menores. A razão-padrão (RP) tem sido largamente utilizada para remover o efeito da massa corporal, apesar de críticas conhecidas há muito tempo devido sua inadequação. Alometria (ALO), do contrário, tem sido aplicada como um método eficiente para normalizar a força muscular. Como o supino é um exercício de força e condicionamento bem reconhecido para idosos, o objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a influência da massa corporal sobre a avaliação do desempenho de um grupo de idosos no supino, comparando as abordagens absoluta (AB), RP e ALO. Dezesseis idosos saudáveis (65,5±5,13 anos de idade; 75,42±9,78Kg; 1,73±5,98m; 25,11±2,71 kg/m2; 24,76±4,10 %gordura) se voluntariaram para participar no estudo. A máxima carga dinâmica foi verificada pelos testes de 1 repetição máxima (1RM). Na comparação das médias, a diferença significante do 1RM entre os participantes leves (54,9±8,85Kg) e pesados (66,2±8,86Kg) foi identificada apenas na abordagem ABS (p<0,05; ES=0,57). A RP falhou em remover completamente o efeito da massa corporal, permitindo correlação entre a força muscular e a massa corporal normalizadas (r=0,23), ao contrário da ALO (r=0,23 e 0,06). O coeficiente de Kendall revelou ausência de concordância entre as abordagens quando comparadas as suas respectivas classificações ordinais (kw=0,003; p>0,05). Em linha com pesquisas anteriores, ALO tem se mostrado como o único método viável para remover adequadamente o efeito da MC e para oferecer escores de desempenho mais apropriados para homens idosos, como os avaliados por este estudo. ABSTRACT Body mass is known to affect muscle strength and the outcome of some functional tests, so that heavier and taller people will be stronger than lighter and smaller ones. Ratio standard (RS) has been widely used to remove the body mass effect, despite long date criticism due to its inadequacy. Allometry (ALLO), in turn, has been applied as an efficient method for normalizing muscular strength. As the bench press (BP) is a well-recognized strength and conditioning exercise for older adults, the aim of the present study was to verify the influence of body mass on the performance assessment of a group of older men in the BP, by comparing the absolute, RS and ALLO approaches. Sixteen healthy old men (65.5±5.13 years old; 75.42±9.78Kg; 1.73±5.98m; 25.11±2.71 kg/m2; 24.76±4.10 %fat) volunteered to participate in the study. Maximum dynamic load was verified by individual one-repetition maximum (1-RM) tests. Comparisons of means revealed that significant 1-RM difference between lighter (54.9±8.85Kg) and heavier (66.2±8.86Kg) participants was identified only in absolute approach (p<0.05; ES=0.57). RS failed in completely remove the body mass effect, allowing correlation between normalized muscular strength and BM (r=0.23), in contraire of ALLO (r=0.03 and 0.06). Kendall's concordance coefficient revealed an absolute lack of agreement between approaches when compared their respective ordinal classifications (kw=0.003; p>0.05). Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the contribution of oral and maxillofacial pathology laboratories (OMPLs) in Brazilian public universities to the diagnosis of lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). A cross-sectional study was performed using biopsy records from a consortium of sixteen public OMPLs from all regions of Brazil (North, Northeast, Central-West, Southeast, and South). Clinical and demographic data of patients diagnosed with lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal SCC between 2010 and 2019 were collected from the patients’ histopathological records. Of the 120,010 oral and maxillofacial biopsies (2010-2019), 6.9% (8,321 cases) were diagnosed as lip (0.8%, 951 cases), oral cavity (4.9%, 5,971 cases), and oropharyngeal (1.2%, 1,399 cases) SCCs. Most cases were from Brazil’s Southeast (64.5%), where six of the OMPLs analyzed are located. The predominant profile of patients with lip and oral cavity SCC was Caucasian men, with a mean age over 60 years, low schooling level, and a previous history of heavy tobacco consumption. In the oropharyngeal group, the majority were non-Caucasian men, with a mean age under 60 years, had a low education level, and were former/current tobacco and alcohol users. According to data from the Brazilian National Cancer Institute, approximately 9.9% of the total lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal SCCs reported over the last decade in Brazil may have been diagnosed at the OMPLs included in the current study. Therefore, this data confirms the contribution of public OMPLs with respect to the important diagnostic support they provide to the oral healthcare services extended by the Brazilian Public Health System. ABSTRACT Purpose: To evaluate the viability of the porcine vas deferens as a realistic microsurgical training model for vasectomy reversal Methods: The model uses swine testicles (vas deferent), which are usually discarded in large street markets since they are not part of Brazilian cuisine. The spermatic cord was carefully dissected, and the vas deferens were isolated, measuring 10 cm in length. A paper quadrilateral with 5 cm2 was built to delimit the surgical training field. The objective of the model is to simulate only the microsurgical step when the vas deferens are already isolated. The parameters analyzed were: feasibility for reproducing the technique, patency before and after performing the vasovasostomy, cost of the model, ease of acquisition, ease of handling, execution time, and model reproducibility. Results: The simulator presented low cost. All models made were viable with a texture similar to human, with positive patency obtained in 100% of the procedures. The internal and external diameters of the vas deferens varied between 0.2-0.4 mm and 2-3 mm, respectively, with a mean length of 9 ± 1.2 cm. The total procedure time was 43.28 ± 3.22 minutes. Conclusions: The realistic model presented proved to be viable for carrying out vasectomy reversal training, due to its low cost, easy acquisition, and easy handling, and providing similar tissue characteristics to humans. RESUMO: Descreve-se um caso de infarto cerebral e meningoencefalite trombótica devido a candidíase em um bezerro de sete meses de idade. A morte ocorreu três dias após o início de apatia, febre e desvio lateral da cabeça para a esquerda. As alterações macroscópicas no cérebro consistiam em assimetria dos hemisférios telencefálicos; o hemisfério direito estava aumentado, causando herniação cerebelar. Uma extensa área vermelha focal foi observada na superfície do lobo occipital direito. Nos cortes transversais do encéfalo fixado, as lesões revelaram áreas extensas, marrom-avermelhadas, moles ou cavitadas, afetando a substância branca e cinzenta desde o nível do tálamo até o cerebelo e comprimindo as estruturas subjacentes. Histologicamente, havia meningoencefalite necrossupurativa multifocal aguda, coalescente, associada a vasculite, congestão, trombose, edema, infarto e hifas fúngicas intralesionais. O diagnóstico de infarto cerebral e meningoencefalite trombótica devido a candidíase foi feito pelas alterações patológicas, coloração e características morfológicas do agente e imuno-histoquímica. O infarto cerebral e meningoencefalite trombótica em bovinos pode resultar de lesões vasculares devido à infecção por Candida sp.; embora incomum, este caso demonstra que a candidíase deve fazer parte de uma lista de diagnósticos diferenciais de lesões cerebrais graves em bovinos. ABSTRACT: We described a case of cerebral infarction and thrombotic meningoencephalitis due to candidiasis in a seven-month-old calf. The death occurred three days after the onset of apathy, fever, and the head’s lateral deviation to the left. Macroscopic changes in the brain consisted of asymmetry of telencephalic hemispheres; the right hemisphere was enlarged, causing cerebellar herniation. A focally extensive red area was observed on the surface of the right occipital lobe. At cross-sections of the fixed brain, the lesions revealed to be extensive, red-brown, soft or cavitated areas affecting the white and grey matter from the level of the thalamus to the cerebellum and compressing subjacent structures. Histologically, there was acute, coalescent, multifocal necrosupurative meningoencephalitis, associated with vasculitis, congestion, thrombosis, edema, infarction, and intralesional fungal hyphae. The diagnosis of cerebral infarction and thrombotic meningoencephalitis due to candidiasis was made by the pathological changes, the staining and morphological characteristics of the agent, and immunohistochemistry. The cerebral infarction and thrombotic meningoencephalitis in cattle can result from vascular lesions due to infection by Candida sp.; although uncommon, this case demonstrated that candidiasis should be part of a list of differential diagnoses of severe brain injuries in cattle. ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to test two low-level laser therapy protocols by evaluating pain control, swelling and trismus in the postoperative period of lower third molar surgeries. This was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover trial. Patients presenting two symmetrically impacted mandibular third molars were included. One side was randomly assigned for LLLT applied immediately after surgery (T1) and then after 24 (T2) and 48 hours (T3) (Protocol A). The other side received LLLT applied immediately after surgery and placebo after 24 and 48 hours (Protocol B). LLLT was given by intraoral application (660nm, 5 J/cm2, 10 s, 20 mW, 4 points) followed by extraoral application (789 nm, 30 J/cm2, 20 s, 60 mW, 8 points). The placebo application was similar to that of the experimental side but with laser simulation. The primary outcomes were pain control, swelling and trismus intensity at T1, T2, T3 and 7 days after surgery (T4). Data were analyzed by ANOVA repeated measures and Wilcoxon test (p<.05). The final sample consisted of 21 patients (42 teeth). There were no statistical differences for pain level between protocols A and B over time (p= .909), although the amount of analgesic medication was lower with protocol A at T2 (p=.022). There were no differences in swelling (p=.958) or trismus (p=.837) between the protocols used over time. Both protocols performed similarly for pain control, swelling and trismus. Therefore, for practical reasons, a single laser application in the immediate postoperative period could be indicated for the management of postoperative discomfort in lower third molar surgery.

RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi testar dois protocolos de terapia com laser de baixa intensidade (LBI) para controle da dor, edema e trismo no período pós-operatório de cirurgias de terceiro molar inferior. Neste estudo randomizado, duplo-cego, controlado, de boca dividida foram incluídos pacientes que apresentavam os terceiros molares inferiores simetricamente. Um lado foi aleatoriamente designado para receber LBI aplicada imediatamente após a cirurgia (T1) e após 24 (T2) e 48 (T3) horas (Protocolo A). O lado oposto recebeu LBI imediatamente após a cirurgia e placebo após 24 e 48 horas (Protocolo B). A aplicação de LBI foi realizada intraoralmente (660nm, 5 J/cm2, 10 s, 20 mW, 4 pontos), seguida pela aplicação extraoral (789 nm, 30 J/cm2, 20 s, 60 mW, 8 pontos). O efeito do placebo foi similar ao experimental. Os desfechos primários eram dor, edema e intensidade do trismo nos tempos T1, T2, T3 e 7 após a cirurgia (T4). Os dados foram analisados por ANOVA e teste de Wilcoxon (p<.05). A amostra final consistiu de 21 pacientes (43 dentes). Não houve diferença estatística para o nível de dor entre os protocolos A e B ao longo do tempo (p=.909), embora a quantidade de medicação analgésica tenha sido menor com o protocolo A em T2 (p= .022). Não houve diferença para edema (p=.958) ou trismo (p=.837) entre os protocolos ao longo do tempo. Em conclusão, a aplicação de LBI imediatamente após a cirurgia e após 24 e 48 horas (Protocolo A) apresenta melhor resultado para controle da dor. Ambos os protocolos foram similares para dor, edema e trismo. Portanto, por razões de praticidade, uma aplicação única de laser imediatamente após a cirurgia pode estar indicada para o manejo do desconforto pós-operatório em cirurgias de terceiros molares inferiores.

ABSTRACT Purpose: To describe the technique of sublay correction of incisional hernia in Wistar rats under videomagnification system. Methods: Five male rats of the species Rattus norvegicus, of the Wistar lineage, with body weight between 250–350 g and 60 days old were used. Incisional hernia was inducted in all animals. After that, the incisional hernia was immediately corrected by the sublay method. Results: There were no cases of recurrence of the incisional hernia after placement of the polypropylene mesh using the sublay technique. No postoperative complications were observed. Conclusions: The technique is suitable for execution in Wistar rats.

Considerando que para o ensino de física no Ensino Médio adota-se, geralmente, nas escolas públicas o livro didático aprovado pelo Programa Nacional do Livro e Material Didático (PNLD) e que esse pode ser o único referencial para professores e estudantes, ocorreu-nos a seguinte questão: o livro didático pode efetivamente assumir esse protagonismo quando se trata do ensino da Física de Partículas Elementares? Para respondê-la, analisamos as resenhas contidas no Guia dos Livros Didáticos do PNLD de 2018 e 2021 utilizando a técnica de análise de conteúdo. Complementar a isso, identificamos quais conceitos são apresentados nos livros que são objetos de conhecimento para a Física de Partículas Elementares (ou Modelo Padrão), porque a depender da experiência/interesse do professor e do livro didático esse tema poderá ser negligenciado em sala de aula. Os resultados da análise de conteúdo evidenciam características que permeiam um livro na condição de material instrucional didático, tais como: metodologia de ensino e conhecimento didático-pedagógico. Os objetos de conhecimento relacionados a Física de Partículas Elementares foram identificados nos livros a partir de um rol de perguntas de caráter dicotômico.

Considering that in Brazilian public high school the teaching physics adopt the textbook of the Nacional Program of the Textbook (NPT) and that can be the single teaching material is available to teacher and student we inquire: the textbook can assume the role when teaching and learning of the Elementary Particles Physics? Therefore, to solved that question examined general comments contained in the Textbooks Guide of the NPT the years 2018 and 2021 using content analysis technique. Furthermore, we identify which are concepts covered of the Elementary Particles Physics (or Standard Model), particularly since depending on the teacher’s experience/interest and the textbook this topic can be neglected. The results of content analysis indicated features that pervade a book in the condition didatic material, such as: teaching methodology and pedagogical aspects. The contents relating to Elementary Particles Physics were identify in the textbooks as of a list of dichotomous quetions.

ABSTRACT New management practices applied to coffee crops may influence the soil’s capacity to tolerate vertical stresses. This paper aimed to evaluate the influence of two coffee crop management systems on the soil load-bearing capacity and critical soil water content to agricultural machinery traffic. This study was performed in the experimental area of the Federal Institute of the Southeast of Minas Gerais - Rio Pomba college, in Rio Pomba city, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Dystrophic Red-Yellow Oxisol (Latossolo Vermelho-Amarelo distrófico) (LVA7) with clayed texture predominating in the experimental unit. Undisturbed soil samples were collected from layers of 0.00-0.03, 0.12-0.15 and 0.27-0.30 m, randomly, in the center of the interrows of coffee plants (Coffea arabica L.) in monoculture plots under traditional management (in full sun) and in the plots of coffee plants intercropped with gliricidia (Gliricidia sepium) (shaded) to estimate pre-consolidation pressures, through uniaxial compression tests and adjustment of soil load-bearing capacity models. The average and maximum normal stresses applied to the soil and the vertical stress distribution of three agricultural tractors used in mechanized farming operations were estimated, and the critical soil water content to the traffic of these tractors was determined for both treatments, aiding in the decision-making process regarding additional compaction risks in the area. Cultivation of gliricidia in consortium with coffee did not influence the soil load-bearing capacity. The soil layer of 0.12-0.15 m was the most vulnerable to vertical stresses in both treatments. Agricultural tractors Agrale 4100, MF 265 and MF 275 presented values of vertical stresses of 335.76, 200.24 and 245.55 kPa, respectively, and the soil water content for the traffic of agricultural machines without plastic deformation was higher in the coffee plants in full sun for all studied depths.
