RESUMO: O vírus da diarreia viral bovina (BVDV) é um vírus que afeta a produção e reprodução com alto impacto econômico global nos sistemas de produção de leite. Nosso objetivo foi investigar a prevalência do BVDV em rebanhos e indivíduos na região de maior produção de leite do Brasil. A frequência do BVDV nos rebanhos foi investigada usando reação em cadeia da polimerase com transcrição reversa quantitativa (RT-qPCR) em tanques de leite em 289 fazendas leiteiras, monitoradas entre agosto de 2020 e janeiro de 2022. Dentre esses rebanhos, 68 sistemas de produção foram selecionados para investigar a prevalência de animais persistentemente infectados (PI) usando dois testes imunoenzimáticos para a detecção do antígeno (Ag-ELISAs), em intervalos de 21 dias, a partir de amostras de tecido auricular. No total, foram realizados 2.902 RT-qPCR e 23.466 Ag-ELISAs. Na investigação dos rebanhos, 23,9% (69/289) das propriedades leiteiras foram consideradas infectadas, apresentando pelo menos um teste qPCR positivo. Na pesquisa de animais Pis, 41,2% (28/68) das fazendas selecionadas tiveram pelo menos um animal positivo no teste Ag-ELISA. A associação entre os testes permitiu classificar as propriedades em quatro categorias: nível 0, negativo para ambos os testes (41,2%, 28/68); nível 1, RT-qPCR positivo e Ag-ELISA negativo (17,6%, 12/68); nível 2, RT-qPCR negativo e Ag-ELISA positivo (13,23%, 9/68); e nível 3, positivo para ambos os testes (27,9%, 19/68). A análise de correspondência múltipla (MCA) sugeriu associação entre positividade para BVDV e grandes propriedades, produção média diária de leite do rebanho, raça e contagem de células somáticas. O confinamento e a intensificação de animais de diferentes categorias e o uso de camas artificiais estão associados à infecção pelo BVDV. O uso de leite residual ou a granel também foi um fator de risco para positividade para BVDV em RT-qPCR e Ag-ELISA. Apesar da utilização de vacinas reprodutivas pela maioria dos produtores, a sua utilização parece estar associada a explorações positivas para BVDV. Este estudo apresenta as frequências epidemiológicas do BVDV nos rebanhos e indivíduos de rebanhos da região dos Campos Gerais Paranaense. A região está entre as principais áreas produtoras de leite do Brasil. Além disso, a associação entre os testes de BVDV e as características da fazenda indica o risco da fazenda para o BVDV e orienta programas de controle específicos. ABSTRACT: Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is a productive and reproductive virus with a high global economic impact on dairy production systems. We investigated the prevalence of BVDV at the herd and individual levels in most dairy-producing regions of Brazil. The frequency of BVDV at the herd level was investigated using quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) in bulk milk tanks monitored at 289 dairy farms between August 2020 and January 2022. Among these farms, 68 production systems were selected to investigate the prevalence of persistently infected (PI) animals using two antigen-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (Ag-ELISAs), at 21-d intervals, from ear-notch samples. In total, 2,902 RT-qPCR and 23,466 Ag-ELISAs were performed. At the herd level, 23.87% (69/289) of dairy farms were considered infected, presenting at least one qPCR test positive. At the individual level, 41.2% (28/68) of the subgroup of selected farms had at least one animal positive in the Ag-ELISA test. Association between tests allowed the classification of farms into the following four categories: level 0, negative for both tests (41.2%, 28/68); level 1, RT-qPCR positive and Ag-ELISA negative (17.6%, 12/68); level 2, RT-qPCR negative and Ag-ELISA positive (13.2%, 9/68); and level 3, positive for both tests (27.9%, 19/68). Multiple correspondence analysis (MCA) suggested a possible association between BVDV positivity and large farms, average daily milk production (herd), breed, and somatic cell counts. The confinement and intensification of animals from different categories, and use of artificial bedding are associated with BVDV infection. Using waste or bulk tank milk to fed calves was also a risk factor for BVDV positivity in RT-qPCR and Ag-ELISA. Despite the use of reproductive vaccines by most producers, their use seems to be associated with BVDV-positive farms. This study presented the epidemiological frequencies of BVDV at the individual and herd levels in the Campos Gerais Paranaense region. The region ranks among the top milk-producing areas in Brazil. Additionally, the association between BVDV tests and farm characteristics indicated the farm risk for BVDV and guides specific control programs. This research aims to develop new 3D (three-dimensional) printable resins made from methacrylate salts of imidazole, 2-methyl-imidazole, and 1-methyl-imidazole, with glycerol trimethacrylate serving as a crosslinking agent. With their backbone structure, these resins are easy and rapid to prepare, offering an alternative to conventional ones. Reinforced with terpene-based additives such as α-pinene, (R)-limonene, trans-ethyl cinnamate, and safrole, they present a diverse range of fifteen resin formulations. Each resin underwent printability tests, including printing tests, which revealed accuracy, precision, and dimensional stability compared to a commercial resin and its respective digital 3D models. Mechanical tests further demonstrated that adding alpha-pinene and (R)-limonene enhanced hardness, while safrole had the opposite effect. Resins containing α-pinene and (R)-limonene as additives showcased an elasticity modulus comparable to the commercial resin. According to mechanical tests, a cytocompatibility assay was conducted for the best resin, showing that this resin holds potential for developing drug delivery systems and other biomedical devices. RESUMO O objetivo da pesquisa foi avaliar a secagem da polpa de trapiá com a adição de aditivos de secagem, determinando a cinética de secagem e as propriedades termodinâmicas das amostras. Foram elaboradas formulações a partir da polpa e os aditivos monoglicerídeos, carboximetilcelulose - CMC e goma guar em diferentes combinações e concentrações (F1 - 0,5% de CMC e 0,5% de Monoglicerídeos; F2 - 0,5% de Goma Guar e 0,5% de Monoglicerídeos; e F3 - 0,25% de Goma Guar, 0,5% de CMC e 0,5% de Monoglicerídeos). ABSTRACT The objective of the research was to study the drying of trapiá pulp with the addition of drying aids, determining the drying kinetics and thermodynamic properties of the samples. Formulations of the pulp was treated with the additives monoglycerides, carboxymethylcellulose - CMC and guar gum in different combinations and concentrations (F1 - 0.5% CMC and 0.5% Monoglycerides; F2 - 0.5% Guar Gum and 0.5% Monoglycerides; and F3 - 0.25% Guar Gum, 0.5% CMC and 0.5% Monoglycerides) trapiá. We investigated the timely initiation of antenatal care among Brazilian adolescents to support the national discussion on the gestational age limit for legal abortion. Using data from the Live Births Information System (SINASC) from 2020 to 2022, we correlated timely prenatal care (in the first trimester of pregnancy) with the adolescent's age, region, race/color, and education level. Considering the estimated age at conception, we estimate that 11,607 annual births result from vulnerable rape. Timely initiation increased with age, being 70.2% for all adolescents (<20 years), but only 55.6% for those under 13; 14.1% of adolescents started antenatal care at 22 weeks or more of gestation (28.3% among those <13 years). Timely initiation was lower in the North Region, among Indigenous girls, and among those with low educational attainment. The results challenge the recent legislative proposal to limit legal abortion for victims of vulnerable rape to up to 22 weeks of gestational age. Delays in recognizing pregnancy and communicating with the family contribute to the late initiation of antenatal care and the decision to abort. The proposed deadline for legal abortions will primarily affect the most socioeconomically and racially vulnerable adolescents.

Investigamos o início oportuno do pré-natal em adolescentes brasileiras para subsidiar a discussão nacional sobre o limite de idade gestacional para o aborto legal. Com dados do Sistema de Informação sobre Nascidos Vivos (SINASC) 2020-2022 correlacionamos o início oportuno do pré-natal (primeiro trimestre da gestação) com a idade da adolescente, região, raça/cor e escolaridade. Considerando a idade estimada na concepção, estimamos que 11.607 partos anuais resultam de estupro de vulnerável. O início oportuno aumentou com a idade, sendo de 70,2% para todas as adolescentes (<20 anos), mas de apenas 55,6% para aquelas abaixo de 13 anos; 14,1% das adolescentes iniciaram o pré-natal com 22 semanas ou mais de gestação (28,3% entre <13 anos). O início oportuno foi menor na Região Norte, entre meninas indígenas e entre aquelas com baixa escolaridade. Os resultados questionam o recente projeto de lei de limitar o aborto legal para vítimas de estupro de vulnerável até 22 de semanas de idade gestacional. Demoras no reconhecimento da gestação e na comunicação para a família contribuem para o início tardio do pré-natal e para a decisão de abortar. A proposta de limite do prazo para abortos legais irá atingir principalmente as adolescentes mais vulneráveis em termos socioeconômicos e raciais.

Abstract Introduction Spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs) are a heterogeneous group of neurodegenerative diseases. Objective To evaluate the living standard of patients with SCA, by applying the Vestibular Disorders Activities of Daily Living Scale (VADL) and Activitiesspecific Balance Confidence Scale (ABC) questionnaires. Methods An uncontrolled clinical trial study was conducted with 28 patients who underwent anamnesis, ENT evaluation, and vestibular assessment and the application of questionnaires VADL and ABC before and after rehabilitation with virtual reality. Results The vestibular exam was altered in 64.3% of the cases. The result between the correlation of the VADL and ABC questionnaires showed significant results in all cases (p < 0.005). The correlation between the ages and disease length with the VADL and ABC questionnaires was significant in the T3 assessment (p = 0.015). The correlation between the disease length and the VADL questionnaire was significant in all cases (p < 0.005). The comparison of the vestibular rehabilitation result (T1 to T2) showed a significant difference for all the applied games, except for the ski slalom. Resumo O desenvolvimento humano é influenciado pela interação entre fatores biológicos e sociais. Este estudo teve como objetivo verificar o efeito moderador do risco social na relação entre risco biológico e desenvolvimento infantil. Os dados foram coletados em 201 crianças, com idades entre 6 e 72 meses. A variável independente foi medida pelo índice de risco biológico, e a variável moderadora pelo índice de risco social. O desenvolvimento infantil foi avaliado por meio do teste Denver II. Regressão linear, tamanho do efeito e análise de moderação foram utilizados para verificar a relação entre IRB e o desenvolvimento infantil (Denver II) e o efeito moderador do IRS. O IRB associou-se negativamente ao desenvolvimento infantil, a interação entre o IRB e o IRS aumentou a variância explicada no resultado do Denver II para 14%. O IRS também foi um moderador significativo dos domínios Linguagem e Motor Grosso. Abstract Human development is influenced by the interaction between biological and social factors. This study aimed to verify the moderating effect of social risk on the relationship between biological risk and child development. Data were collected on 201 children, aged 6 to 72 months. The independent variable was measured by the biological risk index, and the moderator variable by the social risk index was assessed by the Denver II test. Linear regression, effect size, and analysis of moderation were used to verify the relationship between BRI and the child development (Denver II), and the moderating effect of the SRI. BRI was negatively associated with child development, the interaction between the BRI and SRI increased the explained variance in the Denver II result to 14%. The SRI was also a significant moderator of the Language and Gross Motor domains. This research evidence that social risk moderates the relationship between biological risk and child development, the more social risk factors, the stronger this relationship becomes. RESUMEN Este artículo presenta los resultados de una investigación empírica cuyo objetivo fue identificar factores críticos que contribuyeron para la culminación exitosa de los itinerarios formativos de un grupo de graduados de Educación de Jóvenes y Adultos Integrada con la Formación Profesional en el nivel secundario brasileño. Se aplicó un análisis de contenido a los datos obtenidos a través de entrevistas semidirigidas a diez graduados. Exploramos la noción de posicionamiento, como fenómeno social que circunscribe la posición que ocupa un individuo o grupo en un sistema social determinado (Bernstein, 1996) en línea con las disposiciones socioafectivas y cognitivas relacionadas con los procesos de placer/displacer presentes en el contexto escolar y con las representaciones y concepciones de los contenidos, respectivamente (Bourgeois, 1999). Los resultados apuntan a la elevación del posicionamiento en estructuras jerárquicas circunscritas por la escolaridad, el aprendizaje, el conocimiento, las relaciones sociocognitivas y la perspectiva profesional, que se correlacionan con el desarrollo de disposiciones socioafectivas y cognitivas en las dimensiones motivaciones, aspiraciones, valores apropiados y características curriculares, concretamente aprendizaje colaborativo y metodología de enseñanza.

RESUMO Este artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa empírica cujo objetivo foi identificar fatores críticos que contribuíram para o sucesso na conclusão dos percursos formativos de um grupo de egressos da Educação de Jovens e Adultos Integrada à Formação Profissional no nível secundário brasileiro. Foi aplicada a análise de conteúdo dos dados obtidos através de entrevistas semi-dirigidas com dez egressos. Exploramos a noção de posicionamento, enquanto fenômeno social que circunscreve a posição que um indivíduo ou grupo ocupa num dado sistema social (Bernstein, 1996) em consonância com as disposições socioafetivas e cognitivas relacionadas com os processos de prazer/desprazer presentes no contexto escolar e com as representações e conceções do conteúdo, respetivamente (Bourgeois, 1999). Os resultados apontam para a elevação do posicionamento em estruturas hierárquicas circunscritas pela escolaridade, aprendizagem, conhecimento, relações sociocognitivas e perspectiva profissional, as quais estão correlacionadas com o desenvolvimento de disposições socioafetivas e cognitivas nas dimensões motivações, aspirações, valores adequados e características curriculares, nomeadamente aprendizagem colaborativas e metodologia de ensino.

Abstract This article presents the results of an empirical study whose aim was to identify critical factors that contributed to the successful completion of the educational trajectories of a group of former students of a Brazilian secondary level course integrating Youth and Adult Education with Vocational Education. Content analysis was applied to the data obtained through semi-directive interviews with ten former students. We explored the notion of positioning, as a social phenomenon that circumscribes the position that an individual or group occupies in a given social system (Bernstein, 1996) in line with the socio-affective and cognitive dispositions related to the processes of pleasure/displeasure present in the school context and with the representations and conceptions of the content, respectively (Bourgeois, 1999). The results point to higher positioning in hierarchical structures circumscribed by schooling, learning, knowledge, socio-cognitive relations, and professional outlook, which are correlated with the development of socio-affective and cognitive dispositions in the dimensions of motivations, aspirations, appropriate values and curricular characteristics, namely collaborative learning, and teaching methodology.

Resumo A produção de marula na África tem uma importância social, econômica e medicinal significativa. A região semiárida de Minas Gerais, Brasil, apresenta grande potencial para o cultivo de marula, pois as condições edafoclimáticas se assemelham às de seu habitat nativo. Portanto, estudos relacionados à propagação desta espécie no semiárido são essenciais para avanços em diversas áreas relacionadas à produção de marula. As sementes de marula apresentam uma dormência ainda indefinida e os métodos para superar esta dormência não estão bem estabelecidos. Além disso, não foi estabelecido um protocolo para propagação vegetativa. Consequentemente, existem obstáculos a serem superados e viabilizar a produção comercial de mudas de marula. Constatou-se que há poucas pesquisas sobre esta cultura no Brasil, apesar do potencial para estabelecer o cultivo de marula na região semiárida do país, proporcionando mais uma opção alimentar para a população brasileira. Além das suas propriedades medicinais e do potencial de criação de emprego e geração de rendimentos em zonas áridas, o cultivo desempenha um papel na redução da pobreza e no fortalecimento da agricultura na região semiárida.

Abstract The production of marula in Africa holds significant social, economic, and medicinal importance. The semi-arid region of Minas Gerais, Brazil, has great potential for marula cultivation, as the soil and climatic conditions resemble those of its native habitat. Therefore, studies related to the propagation of this species in the semi-arid conditions are essential for advancements in various areas related to marula production. Marula seeds exhibit an as yet undefined dormancy, and methods for overcoming this dormancy have not been well-established. Additionally, a protocol for vegetative propagation has not been established. Consequently, there are obstacles to overcome and enable the commercial production of marula seedlings. Furthermore, there is limited research on this crop in Brazil, despite the potential to establish marula cultivation in the semi-arid region of the country, providing another food option for the Brazilian population. In addition to its medicinal properties and the potential for job creation and income generation in dryland areas, the cultivation play a role in poverty reduction and strengthening agriculture in the semi-arid region.

ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE To describe the methodological challenges and strategies of a web survey on the working conditions and health among delivery workers. METHODS The study population consisted of Brazilian delivery workers operating in the national territory. Procedures include building solid and ongoing collaboration with worker representatives and conducting a four-month data collection from February to May 2022, sharing the link to the online questionnaire on social media such as social networks (Facebook, Instagram) and messaging apps (WhatsApp, Telegram). RESULTS The recruitment of 41 leaders or influencers of delivery workers increased the dissemination of the study, some of whom participated in the consensual validation of the questionnaire; the production of content for social media for the dissemination of the questionnaire link on social networks and applications, and the in-person dissemination of the study at the delivery workers’ meeting points during the workday played a fundamental role, totaling around 132 hours in 45 shifts. The strategies adopted for data collection with a hybrid approach to dissemination made it possible to carry out the web survey. After four months of the web survey, 564 delivery workers, 543 men and 18 women, responded to the online questionnaire. CONCLUSION The web survey presented methodological strategies to overcome the challenge of reaching workers, including hybrid work, to increase the participation of workers, on whom epidemiological research is still scarce.

However, these workers operate informally, without a formal employment relationship, leading to labor precariousness and a lack of workers’ rights. RESUMEN El trabajo a través de aplicaciones móviles surgió como una alternativa para muchos hombres brasileños durante la crisis económica y el aumento del desempleo. Sin embargo, estos trabajadores operan de manera informal, sin relación laboral, lo que genera precariedad laboral y falta de derechos laborales. Desde un abordaje teórico-reflexivo, este artículo analiza la intersección entre la salud ocupacional, la plataformización del trabajo y los desafíos específicos que enfrentan los hombres repartidores de aplicaciones, especialmente durante la pandemia de covid-19. Las categorías reflexivas se dividieron en dos secciones temáticas: “La inserción laboral a través de aplicaciones móviles en Brasil y el modelo de trabajo mediante algoritmos” y “hombres, salud y motocicletas: la salud ocupacional y el comportamiento masculino en el trabajo a través de aplicaciones de entrega”. Abstract Large quantities of residual cooking oil are being increasingly generated in various sectors, as it is often improperly disposed of and causes serious environmental problems. A commonly used alternative is the use of lipases in enzymatic hydrolysis, since it is rather attractive to several sectors, in addition to allowing the use of products generated thereof, such as: free fatty acids, diacylglycerols, monoacylglycerols and free glycerol, moreover, it is capable of operating in mild temperature and pressure conditions. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate alternatives for the hydrolysis of residual frying oil by evaluating the efficiency of different types of supports and heating systems using free and immobilized forms of lipase from Burkholderia cepacia (BCL) and Porcine pancreas (PPL) as biocatalyst. Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB), niobium oxide (Nb2O5) and chitosan (CHIT) were evaluated as support for immobilizing BCL and PPL lipases, and superior results were found regarding the hydrolytic activity of immobilization derivatives using PHB and Nb2O5. Among the heating systems under evaluation, the highest percentage of residual oil hydrolysis was found using the ultrasound system for both free and immobilized lipases, reaching 57.91% hydrolysis for lipases immobilized on Nb2O5 and 61.11% hydrolysis for the derivative immobilized on PHB. The operational stability of both biocatalysts was evaluated using similar half-life time values for both. Resumo O desenvolvimento humano é influenciado pela interação entre fatores biológicos e sociais. Este estudo teve como objetivo verificar o efeito moderador do risco social na relação entre risco biológico e desenvolvimento infantil. Os dados foram coletados em 201 crianças, com idades entre 6 e 72 meses. A variável independente foi medida pelo índice de risco biológico, e a variável moderadora pelo índice de risco social. O desenvolvimento infantil foi avaliado por meio do teste Denver II. Regressão linear, tamanho do efeito e análise de moderação foram utilizados para verificar a relação entre IRB e o desenvolvimento infantil (Denver II) e o efeito moderador do IRS. O IRB associou-se negativamente ao desenvolvimento infantil, a interação entre o IRB e o IRS aumentou a variância explicada no resultado do Denver II para 14%. O IRS também foi um moderador significativo dos domínios Linguagem e Motor Grosso. Esta pesquisa evidenciou que o risco social é um moderador da relação entre risco biológico e desenvolvimento infantil; quanto mais fatores de risco social, mais forte essa relação se torna. Abstract Human development is influenced by the interaction between biological and social factors. This study aimed to verify the moderating effect of social risk on the relationship between biological risk and child development. Data were collected on 201 children, aged 6 to 72 months. The independent variable was measured by the biological risk index, and the moderator variable by the social risk index was assessed by the Denver II test. Linear regression, effect size, and analysis of moderation were used to verify the relationship between BRI and the child development (Denver II), and the moderating effect of the SRI. BRI was negatively associated with child development, the interaction between the BRI and SRI increased the explained variance in the Denver II result to 14%. The SRI was also a significant moderator of the Language and Gross Motor domains. This research evidence that social risk moderates the relationship between biological risk and child development, the more social risk factors, the stronger this relationship becomes. On the other hand, it can be said that some social factors favor child development, even in the presence of biological risk factors.

Resumo A seca é um fenômeno natural, que causa impactos severos em diferentes setores da sociedade. Para avaliar a seca, são utilizados índices que permitem comparar eventos em diferentes regiões e escalas temporais. O SPEIbase é uma base de dados em grade que fornece estimativas do SPEI em escala global, com ampla abrangência temporal (1901 a 2022), resolução espacial de 0,5° x 0,5° e segue em processo de atualização. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o SPEIbase v2.9 na representação dos padrões espaço-temporal da seca na Região Sudeste Brasileira. Para isso, foram comparados os valores da SPEIbase via dados de oito estações meteorológicas convencionais (EMC), para o período de 1961 a 2010. A SPEIbase apresentou resultados satisfatórios para a Região Sudeste Brasileira. Os dados em grade apresentaram tendência linear positiva para todas as oito EMC, com correlação forte (0,70 < r < 0,90) para mais de 50% das estações. Além disso, a SPEIbase apresentou desempenho satisfatório na identificação da frequência e intensidade das secas. Abstract Drought is a natural phenomenon that cause severely impacts on different sectors of society. To assess drought, indices are used that allow comparing events in different regions and time scales. SPEIbase is a gridded database that provides global-scale SPEI estimates with an extensive temporal coverage (1901 to 2022), 0.5° x 0.5° spatial resolution, and is currently being updated. This study aimed to evaluate SPEIbase v2.9 in representing the spatio-temporal patterns of drought in the Southeastern Brazil Region. For this, SPEIbase values were compared to values calculated from data from eight conventional meteorological stations (CMS), for the period from 1961 to 2010. SPEIbase showed satisfactory results for the Southeastern Brazil Region. The gridded data presented a positive linear trend for all eight CMS in the study, with a strong correlation (0.70 < r < 0.90) for more than 50% of the stations. Additionally, SPEIbase performed satisfactorily in identifying the frequency and intensity of droughts. ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE To describe the methodological challenges and strategies of a web survey on the working conditions and health among delivery workers. METHODS The study population consisted of Brazilian delivery workers operating in the national territory. Procedures include building solid and ongoing collaboration with worker representatives and conducting a four-month data collection from February to May 2022, sharing the link to the online questionnaire on social media such as social networks (Facebook, Instagram) and messaging apps (WhatsApp, Telegram). RESULTS The recruitment of 41 leaders or influencers of delivery workers increased the dissemination of the study, some of whom participated in the consensual validation of the questionnaire; the production of content for social media for the dissemination of the questionnaire link on social networks and applications, and the in-person dissemination of the study at the delivery workers’ meeting points during the workday played a fundamental role, totaling around 132 hours in 45 shifts. The strategies adopted for data collection with a hybrid approach to dissemination made it possible to carry out the web survey. After four months of the web survey, 564 delivery workers, 543 men and 18 women, responded to the online questionnaire.
