Abstract The prevalence of openly trans and non-binary people has been increasing, and, in today's world, it is estimated that they represent 0.39% and 1.19% of the global population, respectively. Thus, it becomes increasingly imperative that primary health care physicians are prepared to receive and guide this population, in their general and specific health needs. In this sense, this work intends to study the knowledge of health professionals and their approach to trans and non-binary people in the primary care facilities associated with Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Porto, via an online questionnaire that was sent to the population under study. It was found that, although there is significant contact between residents and specialists in general and family medicine with trans and non-binary people in clinical practice, the perceived degree of knowledge and training about the specific needs of this population seems to be extremely small. It is, therefore, crucial to invest in pre-graduate training, as well as post-graduate training.

ABSTRACT The hairy-tailed bolo mouse, Necromys lasiurus (Lund, 1841), which is typical of the Cerrado (CE), has been recorded in some open areas within the Atlantic Forest (AF) domain of the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro (RJ). In the CE, N. lasiurus is a known reservoir of zoonotic agents, and is the reservoir of an orthohantavirus genotype, Araraquara virus (ARAV), the etiological agent of Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS). Given this, the presence of N. lasiurus has potentially negative implications for public health in the state, and therefore it is important to elucidate the origin of its populations in RJ and their connections with populations outside the AF known to carry the ARAV. In the present study we combined phylogenetic and phylogeographic approaches to elucidate the evolutionary history of N. lasiurus populations in RJ, and to test if their dispersal into the AF domain is recent or ancient. These analyses were based on sequences of the mitochondrial Cytochrome b gene, obtained from N. lasiurus specimens from the Atlantic Forest of Rio de Janeiro (AF-RJ), together with all the sequences of this gene available for N. lasiurus in GenBank. In addition to the phylogenetic and phylogeographic analyses, the sequences were used to test among five hypothetical demographic scenarios, proposed to explain the evolutionary history of the hairy-tailed bolo mouse in the state of RJ. The results of all the analyses indicated that populations from AF and the Arid Diagonal (AD) of South America, which includes the CE, diverged in the Late Pleistocene but reconnected in the Holocene. The RJ population (AF-RJ) resulted from this recent genetic admixture among diverging populations from AF and AD. Despite the recent reconnection, no evidence has been found that the AF-RJ N. lasiurus population acts as a reservoir of ARAV, although the continued genetic connectivity with those from AD highlight the need to reinforce the public health monitoring of orthohantavirus in this rodent, especially given the potential spillover of other genotypes. Overall, then, the results of the present study provide important new insights into the evolutionary history of N. lasiurus, which should contribute to the surveillance of orthohantaviruses, and the development of more effective measures for the prevention and control of this zoonosis. hairytailed hairy tailed Lund, Lund (Lund 1841, 1841 , 1841) CE (CE) (AF . ABSTRACT The limited temporal completeness and taxonomic accuracy of species lists, made available in a traditional manner in scientific publications, has always represented a problem. These lists are invariably limited to a few taxonomic groups and do not represent up-to-date knowledge of all species and classifications. In this context, the Brazilian megadiverse fauna is no exception, and the Catálogo Taxonômico da Fauna do Brasil (CTFB) (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/), made public in 2015, represents a database on biodiversity anchored on a list of valid and expertly recognized scientific names of animals in Brazil. The CTFB is updated in near real time by a team of more than 800 specialists. By January 1, 2024, the CTFB compiled 133,691 nominal species, with 125,138 that were considered valid. Most of the valid species were arthropods (82.3%, with more than 102,000 species) and chordates (7.69%, with over 11,000 species). These taxa were followed by a cluster composed of Mollusca (3,567 species), Platyhelminthes (2,292 species), Annelida (1,833 species), and Nematoda (1,447 species). All remaining groups had less than 1,000 species reported in Brazil, with Cnidaria (831 species), Porifera (628 species), Rotifera (606 species), and Bryozoa (520 species) representing those with more than 500 species. Analysis of the CTFB database can facilitate and direct efforts towards the discovery of new species in Brazil, but it is also fundamental in providing the best available list of valid nominal species to users, including those in science, health, conservation efforts, and any initiative involving animals. The importance of the CTFB is evidenced by the elevated number of citations in the scientific literature in diverse areas of biology, law, anthropology, education, forensic science, and veterinary science, among others. publications problem uptodate up date classifications context exception (CTFB http//fauna.jbrj.gov.br/, httpfaunajbrjgovbr http //fauna.jbrj.gov.br/ , jbrj gov br (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/) 2015 Brazil 80 specialists 1 2024 133691 133 691 133,69 125138 125 138 125,13 82.3%, 823 82 3 (82.3% 102000 102 000 102,00 7.69%, 769 7 69 (7.69% 11000 11 11,00 . 3,567 3567 567 (3,56 2,292 2292 2 292 (2,29 1,833 1833 833 (1,83 1,447 1447 447 (1,44 1000 1,00 831 (83 628 (62 606 (60 520 (52 50 users science health biology law anthropology education others http//fauna.jbrj.gov.br/ faunajbrjgovbr //fauna.jbrj.gov.br (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/ 201 8 202 13369 13 133,6 12513 12 125,1 82.3% (82.3 10200 10 00 102,0 7.69% 76 6 (7.69 1100 11,0 3,56 356 56 (3,5 2,29 229 29 (2,2 1,83 183 83 (1,8 1,44 144 44 (1,4 100 1,0 (8 62 (6 60 52 (5 5 http//fauna.jbrj.gov.br (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br 20 1336 133, 1251 125, 82.3 (82. 1020 0 102, 7.69 (7.6 110 11, 3,5 35 (3, 2,2 22 (2, 1,8 18 (1, 1,4 14 4 ( 82. Abstract Objectives: to evaluate the associated factors in the participation of educational activities and the indication of maternity reference of the birth given for the women during prenatal. Methods: A multicenter longitudinal study was conducted in three maternity hospitals. The interview was carried out soon after the childbirth and the outcomes evaluated were the participation of educational activities during the prenatal and the indication of birth maternity reference. The Poisson regression was used in the analysis of the proposed hierarchical model. Results: Of the 3438 women, 23.2% participated in the educative activities and 61.2% had the childbirth linked to a reference maternity. The women with higher household income (PR= 1.36; CI95%= 1.04–1.77), increase in age by one year (PR= 1.02; CI95%= 1.01–1.04), first pregnancy (PR= 1.84; CI95%= 1.56–2.17), and who practiced physical activity (PR= 1.28; CI95%= 1.09–1.50) had higher prevalence in the participation on the educational activities. The indication of maternity reference was more frequent between the women with higher household income (PR= 1.15; CI95%= 1.01–1.30), education (PR= 1.01; CI95%= 1.00–1.02), non-smoker (PR= 1.31; CI95%= 1.07–1.61), and drug user (PR= 1.44; CI95%= 1.17–1.77). Conclusions despite the wide coverage, the prenatal still has flaws in the actions of education and in the indication of the reference maternity hospital. SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: Intraoperative complications of hysteroscopy, such as the creation of a false passage, cervix dilatation failure, and uterine perforation, may require suspension of the procedure. Some patients refuse a new procedure, which delays the diagnosis of a possible serious uterine pathology. For this reason, it is essential to develop strategies to increase the success rate of hysteroscopy. Some authors suggest preoperative use of topical estrogen for postmenopausal patients. This strategy is common in clinical practice, but studies demonstrating its effectiveness are scarce. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of cervical preparation with promestriene on the incidence of complications in postmenopausal women undergoing surgical hysteroscopy. METHODS: This is a double-blind clinical trial involving 37 postmenopausal patients undergoing surgical hysteroscopy. Participants used promestriene or placebo vaginally daily for 2 weeks and then twice a week for another 2 weeks until surgery. RESULTS: There were 2 out of 14 (14.3%) participants with complications in the promestriene group and 4 out of 23 (17.4%) participants in the placebo group (p=0.593). The complications were difficult cervical dilation, cervical laceration, and vaginal laceration. CONCLUSION: Cervical preparation with promestriene did not reduce intraoperative complications in postmenopausal patients undergoing surgical hysteroscopy. ABSTRACT: Different types of supplied roughage may cause losses in the chemical composition and digestibility of gliricidia (Gliricidia sepium [Jacq.] Kunth ex Walp.) depending on their making and fed-out management. This study has summarized data from scientific studies on gliricidia and compared its nutritional value in various fed forms using a systematic review approach and principal component analysis (PCA). A robust survey of scientific papers was realized on web indexes of periodicals and databases from 1990 to 2023. Data from 100 scientific researches has been compiled and analyzed. In 40% of the trials, the gliricidia nutritional value was determined as fresh leaves, while 30% was in the form of ‘leaves + thin stems’. Gliricidia was evaluated as silage in 11% of the opportunities, followed by 10% as leaf meal and 9% as hay. Non-fiber carbohydrates, crude protein (CP), and organic matter digestibility (OM) had negative correlations with neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), and lignin. Only NDF, ADF, and CP contents could explain 71% of the total data variation (PC1 and PC2). There was no discrimination among fed forms, so they showed similar nutrient compositions. Eventual nutrient losses reported in the scientific researches owing to ensilage, haymaking, and leaf meal-making processes do not mischaracterize the gliricidia nutritional value. The assorted manners of roughage making, and fed-out management traditionally performed by farmers can conserve the excellent nutritional quality of gliricidia. ABSTRACT Jacq. Jacq [Jacq. Walp. ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate intraocular lens power calculation and postoperative refractive errors in patients with high myopia undergoing cataract surgery, comparing predicted target refraction and actual postoperative refraction measured 30 days after surgery with SRK/T formula. Methods This retrospective analysis comprised 39 eyes of 31 patients undergoing cataract surgery through phacoemulsification with in-the-bag IOL implantation. Axial length was measured by partial coherence interferometry or immersion ultrasound biometry, with measurements greater than 26 mm and preoperative myopia greater than -6.0 D Manifest refraction was performed at the 1-month postoperative visit, and the spherical equivalent was analyzed. Results After analysis of 39 eyes of 31 patients undergoing cataract surgery with a mean axial length of 30.4 (standard deviation of 2.2) mm, the mean preoperative refractive spherical equivalent was -15.6 (standard deviation of 7.6) D, ranging from -24.0 to -13.4 D. At 30 days postoperatively, the mean spherical equivalent was -0.35 (standard deviation of 1.1) D, ranging from -2.4 to 2.50 D. Conclusion We encountered a correlation between the absolute refractive error and the dioptric power of the intraocular lens. Against expectations, in our study, ultrasound biometry yielded better results than the optical biometer device, probably due to the small number of patients undergoing optical biometry, suggesting that well-performed immersion biometry can still produce satisfactory results. 3 SRKT SRK T formula inthebag bag implantation 2 6.0 60 6 0 -6. 1month month 1 visit analyzed 304 4 30. standard 2.2 22 15.6 156 15 -15. 7.6 76 7 24.0 240 24 -24. 13.4 134 13 -13. postoperatively 0.35 035 35 -0.3 1.1 11 2.4 -2. 250 50 2.5 expectations study device wellperformed well 6. -6 2. 15. -15 7. 24. -24 13. -13 0.3 03 -0. 1. -2 25 5 - -1 0. -0
Abstract Concentrated supplementation of ewes is a strategy to increase productivity. The objective was to evaluate the effects of supplementation in the diet of ewes before, during and in the final third of pregnancy and lactation on, the performance and production and composition of colostrum and milk. Forty animals were distributed in a completely randomized design, into the following treatments: CONT = control treatment with mineral salt supplementation only, SSREPRO = supplementation started 20 days before the estrus synchronization (ES) protocol, SSPREG = suplementação a partir da confirmação da gestação (60 days after ES), and SEPREG = supplementation in the third end of pregnancy (90 days after ES). Supplementation adoption changed (P < 0.05) the intake of organic matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber, the percentage of total digestible nutrients, and digestibility of dry matter, acid detergent fiber, non-fiber carbohydrates, and ether extract with their respective intake, in addition to colostrum and milk production and composition and animal performance. No difference (P > 0.05) was observed for organic matter, crude protein, and neutral detergent fiber digestibility and total digestible nutrient intake. Thus, supplementation in the final third of pregnancy may result in heavier lambs at weaning, reduction in slaughter time. productivity on design treatments only 2 ES (ES protocol 60 (6 ES, , ES) 90 (9 ES. . ABSTRACT: Several techniques are used to evaluate seed quality; however, most of them are destructive and require considerable execution time. The X-ray test has proven to be an efficient nondestructive technique for evaluating the quality of seeds. This study aimed to evaluate internal damage in ipê-roxo (Handroanthus impetiginosus) seeds through X-ray tests and to investigate how it affects seed germination. Samples from four lots of ipê-roxo seeds were exposed to radiation and, subsequently, the radiographs were analyzed using ImageJ software and the seeds divided into four classes based on their internal morphology: 1) seeds with an embryonic cavity filled with more than 50%; 2) an embryonic cavity filled up to 50%; 3) an embryonic cavity attacked by insects; and 4) an empty embryonic cavity. After that, the seeds were subjected to a germination test and, after 21 days, scored as germinated, nongerminated, dead, and normal and abnormal seedlings. The X-ray test proved to be effective in evaluating the internal morphology of ipê-roxo seeds and their relationship with physiological quality. Radiographic analysis enabled the precise identification of damage, such as embryonic malformation and damage by insects. Abstract The physical and chemical protection of steel reinforcement afforded by the cover is a consequence of the quality of the concrete and its thickness, with a long-term impact on durability and service life. This study proposed variations in cover based on environmental aggressivity class (EAC) of exposure considering concretes of prescribed compressive strength classes (C20/C25/C30/C40). To this end, concrete mixtures were subjected to accelerated testing in salt spray chambers or carbonation. Accelerated testing was kept for periods long enough to reach each EAC cover level. Thus, the effect of each EAC, from mild to severe, was determined on the physical and mechanical characteristics of each mixture. It was determined that the required reinforcement cover varied linearly with compressive strength. This denoted the possibility of using more than one class of concrete and cover for each EAC. It should be noted that the difference in required cover became greater when using concrete with a strength class higher than C30. Still, it was noticed that the chloride ions attack s was more severe than carbonation and was, for most of the test cases, the determinant factor in minimum cover thickness to ensure the desired durability. longterm term life (EAC C20/C25/C30/C40.

Abstract The impact of GnRH treatment on the day of TAI in beef cows has received limited investigation, especially concerning its association with estrus expression. Consequently, two experiments were conducted to assess the potential of GnRH treatment on the day of TAI to enhance fertility according to the expression or not of estrus in beef cows. Experiment 1 aimed to determine ovulation rate and luteal function, while Experiment 2 aimed to determine the effect of the two GnRH treatment approaches on pregnancy rate. In Experiment 1, multiparous Brangus suckling cows (n = 17) were submitted to an 8-day TAI protocol. Estrus occurrence was evaluated based on chalk removal on D10 (TAI) and cows were assigned to receive GnRH (25µg lecirelin; im) according to the group: GnRH (n = 7), regardless of estrus expression; or selectGnRH (n = 10), only cows not detected in estrus. Ovulation rate occurring until 77h after IVD removal did not differ (p = 0.17) between GnRH (85.7%; 6/7) and selectGnRH (100%; 10/10). Also, corpus luteum size and serum progesterone concentration were not affected (p>0.05) by treatments. In Experiment 2, crossbred taurine suckled cows (n = 384) were submitted to the same protocol as described in Experiment 1 and were randomly allocated to GnRH or selectGnRH groups. There was no difference in P/AI between groups (selectGnRH = 55.6%; GnRH = 54.3%; p = 0.7) 30 days after TAI. As expected, there was a pronounced effect (p<0.0001) of estrus expression on P/AI (Estrus = 61.5%; No estrus = 33.0%), regardless of group. In summary, ovulation timing and rate and luteal function did not differ between groups. Also, GnRH administration only in cows that do not show estrus is recommended, considering hormone savings and similar conception rate. investigation Consequently n 17 8day 8 D D1 (TAI 25µg µg lecirelin im group 7, 7 , 7) 10, 10 10) h 0.17 017 0 85.7% 857 85 (85.7% 6/7 67 6 100% 100 (100% 10/10. 1010 10/10 . 10/10) Also p>0.05 p005 05 (p>0.05 treatments 384 PAI P AI 55.6% 556 55 54.3% 543 54 3 0.7 07 expected p<0.0001 p00001 0001 (p<0.0001 61.5% 615 61 5 33.0%, 330 33.0% 33 33.0%) summary recommended 0.1 01 85.7 (85.7 6/ (100 101 10/1 p>0.0 p00 (p>0.0 38 55.6 54.3 0. p<0.000 p0000 000 (p<0.000 61.5 33.0 85. ABSTRACT To correct errors in previous catalogs and update the Brazilian fauna, thirty-five species of Darwin wasps erroneously reported for Brazil are removed from the Taxonomic Catalog of the Brazilian Fauna, belonging to the following subfamilies: Anomaloninae (2 species), Banchinae (1), Campopleginae (8), Cremastinae (2), Cryptinae (8), Phygadeuontinae (3), Pimplinae (8), Tersilochinae (2), and Tryphoninae (1). Most species were incorrectly cataloged due to an incorrect interpretation of the species list created by Costa Lima in 1962, which mentions species occurring in neighboring countries but does not confirm their presence in Brazil. Thus, the Brazilian fauna of Ichneumonidae currently corresponds to 234 genera and 1,038 species. thirtyfive thirty five Fauna subfamilies 2 ( species, , species) 1, 1 (1) 8, 8 (8) 2, (2) 3, 3 (3) 1. . 1962 Thus 23 1038 038 1,03 (1 (8 (3 196 103 03 1,0 19 10 0
