ABSTRACT Over-the-counter medications (OTC), also known as non-prescription drugs can be dispensed without a prescription. This study aimed to analyze the pharmacological profile, risk, and quality of evidence of OTC medications registered in Brazil. The databases of ANVISA and Micromedex synthesis were consulted. The indications for use were classified according to CIAP, the medications according to ATC, and the quality of evidence according to the GRADE method. A total of 188 OTC medications were identified, comprising 376 presentations. The groups related to the digestive tract and respiratory system had the highest number of drugs, each accounting for 19%. Overall, 61% of the drugs were classified as having high or moderate evidence, and 39% as low, very low, or lacking evidence. Despite the prevalence of higher-quality evidence, restrictions need to be highlighted, as approximately 55% of the drugs have a weak recommendation, 67% may not be used by children under the age of 6, 95% lack reliable safety information during pregnancy, and 87% lack clear information regarding use during lactation. Further research on the topic, supported self-care policies, and monitoring seem essential to better understand the risks and benefits associated with OTC medications, thus ensuring a safer and evidence-based clinical practice.

ABSTRACT The present study aimed to investigate the communication/training strategies and technological tools used by fitness coaches from Brazilian football teams during home-based training according to age categories (professional and youth), competitive level (1st, 2nd and 3rd/4th divisions) and sex (male and female). An online questionnaire was applied to collect data. Eighty-two fitness coaches from sixty-seven male and female football teams (professional and youth teams) answered the questionnaire. Message apps were the main communication route between fitness coaches and players during home-based training. Online spreadsheets were frequently used to control the training. Regarding equipment provided to players for training, 70.7% of male professional players used some equipment. In contrast, most female professional and youth players (both sexes) did not receive any equipment, respectively (p< 0.01). Male players who compete in the 1st and 2nd divisions received more equipment for training than those who compete in the 3rd and 4th divisions (p< 0.01). The main physical fitness variables trained by all players during home-based training were muscle strength, strength-endurance, and aerobic capacity. Training load and training response were applied through series/repetitions/time and effort perception scales, respectively. In conclusion, the financial differences between professional and youth teams and between males and females and competitive levels can induce different home-based training conditions in Brazilian football teams during lockdown-like situations, especially related to equipment available for training targeted physical qualities. Thus, players should be monitored closely during lockdown-like situations and provided appropriate support to facilitate their training.

RESUMO Este artigo tem por objetivo analisar o processo de intercompreensão sob a ótica da Neurolinguística Discursiva. Como metodologia, foi realizado um estudo de caso de uma criança com perfil linguístico de restrição verbal, que diz respeito à dimensão dos enunciados que envolve as palavras e a sua morfologia. A interpretação dos dados ocorreu com base na perspectiva bakhtiniana, que aborda a “compreensão” como um processo ativo responsivo e a significação como emergente na relação entre enunciados. Os resultados evidenciaram que o conhecimento compartilhado entre as interlocutoras permitiu a construção conjunta da significação mesmo diante da restrição verbal, e aspectos como os elementos não verbais e o reconhecimento do papel ativo-responsivo da criança também favoreceram a intercompreensão. ABSTRACT This article aims to analyze the process of mutual understanding from the perspective of Discursive Neurolinguistics. As a methodology, a case study was carried out on a child with a linguistic profile of verbal restriction, which concerns the dimension of utterances involving words and their morphology. Data interpretation was based on the Bakhtinian perspective, which addresses ‘understanding’ as an active-responsive process and meaning as emerging from the relationship between utterances. RESUMO: Um cavalo macho não castrado, Sela Holandesa, de 20 anos de idade apresentou histórico de dificuldade de movimentação e não flexão do membro pélvico direito, seguido por inchaço subcutâneo e decúbito lateral permanente. Apesar das tentativas de cuidados paliativos, o cavalo foi eutanasiado após piora clínica e falta de resposta ao tratamento. O principal achado macroscópico foi uma massa macia, vermelha a preta e lobulada envolvendo os músculos semitendinoso, semimembranoso e bíceps femoral direito. Nódulos macios e vermelhos também foram observados nos lobos pulmonares e adrenais. ABSTRACT: A 20-year-old, sexually intact male Dutch Warmblood horse was presented with a 5-day history of difficulty moving and non-flexion of the right pelvic limb, followed by subcutaneous swelling and permanent lateral decubitus. Despite attempts at palliative care, the horse was euthanized after clinical worsening and lack of treatment response. The main gross finding was a soft, red-to-black, lobulated mass involving the right semitendinosus, semimembranosus, and biceps femoris muscles. Soft, red nodules were also seen in all pulmonary lobes and adrenal glands. Histology revealed neoplastic proliferation of malignant polygonal cells, occasionally arranged in irregular anastomosing vascular channels filled with erythrocytes. Neoplastic cells were immunoreactive for factor VIII-related antigen, confirming the blood vascular origin. A final diagnosis of epithelioid hemangiosarcoma was made. These findings reinforced the inclusion of hemangiosarcoma as a differential diagnosis of equine muscular lesions and highlighted the histological features of the epithelioid hemangiosarcoma subtype. En las últimas décadas, se produjo un robusto corpus de investigaciones sobre el aborto en Brasil, con diferentes diseños, objetos y metodologías. Sin embargo, debido a la diversidad de situaciones en las que las mujeres brasileñas vivencian el abortamiento, la complejidad del tema y sus modulaciones en diferentes contextos políticos y socioculturales, el tema continúa desafiando a la academia, el campo de la salud y los derechos reproductivos. En este artículo, presentamos aspectos metodológicos de un estudio cualitativo sobre los itinerarios de cuidados de la salud de mujeres en situación de abortamiento, componente de la encuesta Nacer en Brasil II, que tiene como objetivo discutir los efectos de las desigualdades de género, raza/etnia, clase social, generacionales, regionales y territoriales en esos recorridos. Discutimos el desarrollo del diseño del estudio, la construcción del marco teórico y los recortes analíticos específicos, la elaboración del instrumento de entrevista, los criterios de selección de las mujeres, las estrategias de abordaje y realización de las entrevistas, el manejo del flujo del campo y de los materiales producidos, los procedimientos analíticos y los problemas éticos. Para abarcar una diversidad de mujeres y profundizar los resultados del componente cuantitativo de Nacer en Brasil II, se realizarán 120 entrevistas narrativas. El contexto de criminalización del aborto impacta la producción de conocimiento sobre el tema, imponiendo desafíos, tales como conseguir acceso a las mujeres, asegurar su anonimato y privacidad y la confidencialidad de la información, generar condiciones objetivas y subjetivas para que puedan narrar en profundidad sus experiencias. Con este artículo buscamos contribuir al debate sobre estos desafíos de las investigaciones sobre el aborto en Brasil.

Contudo, pela diversidade de situações em que as mulheres brasileiras vivenciam o abortamento, pela complexidade do tema e por suas modulações em contextos políticos e socioculturais distintos, o assunto não cessa de desafiar a academia, o campo da saúde e dos direitos reprodutivos. Neste artigo, apresentamos aspectos metodológicos de um estudo qualitativo sobre itinerários de cuidado à saúde de mulheres em situações de abortamento, componente da pesquisa Nascer no Brasil II, que objetiva discutir efeitos das desigualdades de gênero, de raça/etnia, de classe social, geracionais, regionais e territoriais nesses percursos. Discutimos o desenvolvimento do desenho do estudo; a construção do arcabouço teórico e recortes analíticos específicos; a elaboração do instrumento de entrevista; os critérios de seleção das mulheres; as estratégias de abordagem e condução das entrevistas; a gestão do fluxo do campo e dos materiais produzidos; os procedimentos analíticos; e os problemas éticos. Para incluir uma diversidade de mulheres e aprofundar resultados do componente quantitativo do Nascer no Brasil II, serão realizadas 120 entrevistas narrativas. O contexto de criminalização do aborto impacta a produção de conhecimento sobre o tema, impondo desafios como conseguir acesso às mulheres, assegurar o anonimato e sua privacidade, além do sigilo das informações, gerar condições objetivas e subjetivas para que possam narrar em profundidade as suas experiências. In recent decades, several academic studies on abortion have been produced in Brazil, with different designs, objectives, and methodologies. However, due to the diversity of situations in which Brazilian women experience abortion, the complexity of this topic, and its modulations in different political and sociocultural contexts, it still challenges academicians and the fields of health and reproductive rights. In this article, we present methodological aspects of a qualitative study on health care itineraries of women in situations of abortion, a component of the Birth in Brazil II survey, whose objective is to discuss the effects of gender; race/ethnicity; social class; generational, regional, and territorial inequalities on care itineraries. We discuss the study design development, the construction of the theoretical framework and specific analytical axes, the development of interview instrument, definition of participant selection criteria, strategies to contact participants and conduct the interviews, management of field work and materials produced, analytical procedures, and ethical issues. In total, 120 narrative interviews were conducted in order to include a diversity of women and obtain detailed results from the quantitative analysis under Birth in Brazil II survey. The context of criminalization of abortion has an impact on the production of knowledge on this subject, creating challenges such as difficult access to women, women’s anonymity, privacy and data confidentiality, creation of objective and subjective conditions so that they can narrate their experiences in depth. With this article, we seek to contribute to the debate about these challenges in abortion research in Brazil.

Resumo Este artigo objetivou analisar recomendações para educação em saúde de gestantes e puérperas em tempos de pandemia de Covid-19. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa que ocorreu no período setembro de 2021 a fevereiro de 2022, nas bases de dados MEDLINE via PubMed, Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde, Scientific Electronic Library Online e na Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde. Utilizou-se o software online Endnote Web para armazenar as referências obtidas na busca e retirar duplicações. A amostra final foi composta por 17 estudos. Após análise, os achados foram distribuídos em duas categorias: educação em saúde para assistência pré-natal de gestantes e educação em saúde para bem-estar físico e mental de gestantes e puérperas. O estudo mostrou que as recomendações para gestantes e puérperas, no cenário pandêmico, tem ênfase na educação em saúde associada a ferramentas tecnológicas durante todo o processo gravídico-puerperal, baseadas em informações e estratégias que favoreçam a promoção da saúde e a prevenção de agravos.

Abstract This article aimed to analyze recommendations for health education for pregnant and postpartum women in times of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is an integrative review that took place from September 2021 to February 2022, in the MEDLINE databases via PubMed, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, Scientific Electronic Library Online and the Virtual Health Library. The online software Endnote Web was used to store the references obtained in the search and to remove duplications. The final sample consisted of 17 studies. After analysis, the findings were divided into two categories: health education for prenatal care of pregnant women and health education for the physical and mental well-being of pregnant and postpartum women. The study showed that the recommendations for pregnant and puerperal women, in the pandemic scenario, emphasize health education associated with technological tools throughout the pregnancy-puerperal process, based on information and strategies that favor health promotion and disease prevention.

La Atención Primaria de la Salud (APS) se considera la puerta de entrada preferencial para el cuidado en el sistema de salud, destinándose los servicios de emergencia para situaciones que exigen atención inmediata. El objetivo de este artículo fue intentar identificar motivaciones para el uso de servicios de urgencias por problemas de salud no urgentes en usuarios de este servicio. Estudio cualitativo con base en 29 entrevistas semiestructuradas realizadas en 2019 con usuarios de un servicio de urgencias del municipio de Vitória-ES. Los entrevistados perciben los servicios de urgencias y emergencias como aquellos en los que obtendrán cuidados inmediatos con mayor facilidad y resolución, puesto que el acceso a la APS de una forma inmediata, rápida y con resolución se presenta difícil. La utilización de urgencias por motivos no urgentes se mostró compleja y envuelve no solo la dificultad de acceso a la APS, sino la propia comprensión individual y colectiva del papel de cada equipo del sistema.

Primary health care is the point of entry to the health system, providing emergency services for situations that require immediate treatment. The aim of this study was to identify the reasons patients use emergency services for non-urgent medical problems. We carried out a qualitative study based on 29 semi-structured interviews with patients of an urgent care center in Vitória, Brazil, conducted in 2019. According to the interviewees, it was easier to get immediate resolutive care in urgent and emergency care services, while obtaining immediate, rapid access to resolutive care in primary care services was difficult. The findings show that the utilization or urgent care centers for non-urgent problems was complex and involved not only difficulty accessing primary care services, but also individual and public understanding of the role of each type of health facility in the health system.

A Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS) é considerada a porta de entrada preferencial para o cuidado no sistema de saúde; já os serviços de emergência são destinados para situações que exigem atendimento imediato. Este artigo buscou identificar motivações para o uso de pronto atendimentos por problemas de saúde não urgentes em usuários deste serviço. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo baseado em 29 entrevistas semiestruturadas realizadas em 2019 com usuários de um pronto atendimento do município de Vitória, ES. Os entrevistados percebem os serviços de urgência e emergência como aqueles nos quais obterão cuidados imediatos com maior facilidade e resolubilidade, já que acessar a APS de uma maneira imediata, rápida e resolutiva se apresentou difícil. A utilização de prontoatendimentos por motivos não urgentes mostrou-se complexa e envolve não apenas a dificuldade de acesso à APS, mas a própria compreensão individual e coletiva do papel de cada equipamento do sistema.

RESUMO A Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS) é a base do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Fortalecê-la exige permanente avaliação de seus processos e resultados. A Rede de Pesquisa em APS (Rede APS) promove intenso debate sobre o fortalecimento do modelo de APS de base territorial, comunitária e ordenadora da Rede de Atenção à Saúde no SUS. Este ensaio tem o objetivo de apresentar um histórico das iniciativas de monitoramento e avaliação da APS brasileira e a proposição de uma agenda de pesquisa implicada com a consolidação do SUS e o fortalecimento da Estratégia Saúde da Família (ESF). É resultante da reflexão crítica acerca da produção de conhecimento sobre APS no Brasil, fruto do debate em torno da agenda política e estratégica da Rede APS com participação de atores setoriais. A agenda está estruturada em oito eixos centrais, considerando o modelo de APS a ser integrado às redes de atenção, gestão e financiamento, gestão do trabalho, saúde digital, infraestrutura, atenção integral à saúde, e monitoramento e avaliação. A Rede APS defende a universalização da cobertura por uma ESF qualificada e a construção de uma Política Nacional de Monitoramento e Avaliação para orientar a gestão e o cuidado da APS no SUS.

ABSTRACT Primary Health Care (PHC) is the base of the Unified Health System (SUS). Strengthening it requires constant evaluation of its processes and outcomes. The PHC Research Network (Rede APS) is promoting an intense debate on strengthening the PHC model, which is territorialized, community-based, and organizes the Health Care Network in the SUS. This essay aims to present a history of initiatives to monitor and evaluate Brazilian PHC and to propose a research agenda involved in consolidating the SUS and strengthening the Family Health Strategy (ESF). It is the result of a critical reflection on the production of knowledge on PHC in Brazil, the fruit of a debate on the political and strategic agenda of the PHC Network with the participation of sectoral actors. The agenda is structured around eight central axes, considering the PHC model to be integrated into care networks, management and financing, work management, digital health, infrastructure, comprehensive health care, and monitoring and evaluation. The PHC Research Network advocates universal coverage by a qualified ESF and the construction of a National Monitoring and Evaluation Policy to guide PHC management and care in the SUS.

El objetivo de este ensayo es presentar un panorama histórico de las iniciativas de monitoreo y evaluación de la APS brasileña y proponer una agenda de investigación comprometida con la consolidación del SUS y con el fortalecimiento de la Estrategia Salud de la Familia (ESF). Esto como resultado de la reflexión crítica acerca de la producción de conocimiento sobre APS en Brasil, fruto del debate en relación con la agenda política y estratégica de la Rede APS con la participación de actores sectoriales. La agenda está construida en ocho ejes centrales, teniendo en cuenta el modelo de APS integrado en las redes de atención, la gestión y financiamiento, la gestión del trabajo, la salud digital, la infraestructura, la atención integral en salud y el monitoreo y evaluación. La Rede APS defiende la universalización de la cobertura por una ESF cualificada y la construcción de una Política Nacional de Monitoreo y Evaluación para orientar la gestión y el cuidado en la APS en el SUS.

Abstract Roadkill is one of the most direct impacts on fauna, leading to numerous direct and indirect impacts. Road-killed animals could serve as a resource for research and teaching purposes, but first, they need to have their tissues preserved by some technique. Plastination is one of the most modern techniques for the conservation of biological tissues, its principle is the replacement of body fluids by a curable polymer, resulting in a non-toxic, odorless, and manipulable material. So the main aim of this work was to compose a collection of plastinated roadkill victims from the Biological Reserve Sooretama region, adapting the standard protocol to the different taxa worked here (Avialae, Reptilia, Amphibia, and Mammalia). For this, 42 animals were used, previously frozen and stored in the Sooretama Biological Reserve and Vale Natural Reserve until they were sent for processing. Upon arriving at the Plastination laboratory at the Federal University of Espírito Santo, the animals underwent the 4 stages of plastination: fixation, dehydration, forced impregnation, and chemical cure; some adaptations were made to improve the final specimens. The results proved that the plastination of these animals is extremely viable in generating satisfactory results. Given the results obtained, it becomes clear how plastination can become an alternative to implement in the composition of biological collections using roadkill animals. Abstract Background: Arboviral diseases are a group of infectious diseases caused by viruses transmitted by arthropods, mainly mosquitoes. These diseases, such as those caused by the dengue (DENV), Zika (ZIKV), chikungunya (CHIKV), and yellow fever (YFV) viruses, have a significant impact worldwide. In this context, entomological surveillance plays a crucial role in the control and prevention of arboviruses by providing essential information on the presence, distribution, and activity of vector mosquitoes. Based on entomological surveillance, transovarian transmission provides information regarding the maintenance and dissemination of arboviruses. The objective of this study was to detect these arboviruses in Goiânia, Goiás, and analyze the occurrence of transovarian transmission. Methods: Aedes aegypti eggs were collected from different regions of Goiânia and cultivated under controlled laboratory conditions until the emergence of adult mosquitoes. Adult females were grouped into pools containing their heads and thoraxes. These pools were subsequently evaluated using reverse-transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) assay. Results: A total of 157 pools (N=1570) were analyzed, with two pools testing positive for CHIKV and one pool testing positive for ZIKV, indicating that the offspring resulting from transovarian transmission are potentially infectious. Conclusions: In summary, the demonstration of the vertical transmission mechanisms of CHIKV and ZIKV in A. aegypti serves as an alert to health authorities, as these diseases are still underreported, and their primary urban vector has likely acquired this capacity, contributing to the dissemination of these infections. ABSTRACT Resistant genotypes are a valuable tool in integrated pest management programs of insect pests of stored grains. Here, we screened 90 Brazilian common bean genotypes to select promising sources of resistance to Acanthoscelides obtectus. Resumo Este artigo objetivou analisar recomendações para educação em saúde de gestantes e puérperas em tempos de pandemia de Covid-19. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa que ocorreu no período setembro de 2021 a fevereiro de 2022, nas bases de dados MEDLINE via PubMed, Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde, Scientific Electronic Library Online e na Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde. Utilizou-se o software online Endnote Web para armazenar as referências obtidas na busca e retirar duplicações. A amostra final foi composta por 17 estudos. Após análise, os achados foram distribuídos em duas categorias: educação em saúde para assistência pré-natal de gestantes e educação em saúde para bem-estar físico e mental de gestantes e puérperas. Abstract This article aimed to analyze recommendations for health education for pregnant and postpartum women in times of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is an integrative review that took place from September 2021 to February 2022, in the MEDLINE databases via PubMed, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, Scientific Electronic Library Online and the Virtual Health Library. The online software Endnote Web was used to store the references obtained in the search and to remove duplications. The final sample consisted of 17 studies. After analysis, the findings were divided into two categories: health education for prenatal care of pregnant women and health education for the physical and mental well-being of pregnant and postpartum women. The study showed that the recommendations for pregnant and puerperal women, in the pandemic scenario, emphasize health education associated with technological tools throughout the pregnancy-puerperal process, based on information and strategies that favor health promotion and disease prevention. RESUMO Objetivo: Verificar o efeito da Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS) na associação entre multimorbidade e utilização dos serviços de emergência em adultos do Brasil. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo transversal, de base domiciliar em âmbito nacional, sendo utilizados dados da Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde (PNS) de 2019. A regressão de Poisson foi aplicada para avaliar a utilização do serviço de emergência entre pessoas com multimorbidade. Também foi avaliada a interação das variáveis cobertura de Saúde da Família e orientação para a APS nessas associações. Resultados: A prevalência de multimorbidade foi de 31,2% (IC95% 30,9–31,5), a cobertura de Saúde da Família foi de 71,8% (IC95% 71,4–72,0) e a baixa orientação dos serviços para a APS foi de 70% (IC95% 69,1–70,9). O uso do serviço de emergência apresentou uma prevalência de 2,0% (IC 95% 1,9–2,0), sendo duas vezes maior entre indivíduos com multimorbidade (3,1; IC95% 2,9–3,3) em comparação com aqueles sem essa condição (1,4; IC95% 1,3–1,5). No entanto, pessoas com multimorbidade e cobertura de Saúde da Família apresentaram prevalência de utilização de serviços de emergência 20% menor do que aquelas sem cobertura de Saúde da Família (RP 0,8; IC95% 0,6–0,9). A associação entre o uso do serviço de emergência e a multimorbidade não foi modificada pela avaliação do serviço, como altamente orientado para a APS (p=0,956). Conclusão: O estudo evidenciou que a cobertura de Saúde da Família exerceu um efeito positivo na associação entre multimorbidade e utilização dos serviços de emergência.

ABSTRACT Objective: To examine the effect of Primary Health Care (PHC) on the association between multimorbidity and emergency service utilization among adults in Brazil. Methods: This is a cross-sectional, nationwide household-based study using data from the 2019 National Health Survey. Poisson regression was used to assess emergency service utilization among individuals with multimorbidity. The interaction of variables such as Family Health coverage and orientation to PHC in these associations was also evaluated. Results: The prevalence of multimorbidity was 31.2% (95%CI 30.9–31.5), Family Health coverage was 71.8% (95%CI 71.4–72.0), and low orientation of services toward PHC was 70% (95%CI 69.1–70.9). Emergency service utilization had a prevalence of 2.0% (95%CI 1.9–2.0), being twice as high among individuals with multimorbidity (3.1; 95%CI 2.9–3.3) compared to those without this condition (1.4; 95%CI 1.3–1.5). However, individuals with multimorbidity and Family Health coverage had a 20% lower prevalence of emergency service utilization than those without Family Health coverage (PR 0.8; 95%CI 0.6–0.9). The association between emergency service utilization and multimorbidity was not modified by the evaluation of the service as highly oriented toward PHC (p=0.956). Conclusion: The study showed that Family Health coverage exerted a positive effect on the association between multimorbidity and emergency service utilization.

Abstract Repositioning guides are commonly employed in clinical studies to ensure consistent tooth color measurements. Yet, their influence on measured color remains uncertain. Objective This study evaluated the impact of repositioning guides’ color and usage on tooth color measurement using a clinical spectrophotometer. Methodology In total, 18 volunteers participated in this study, in which the color of their upper left central incisor and upper left canine was measured with or without repositioning guides (control). The guides were made from pink, blue, or translucent silicone, as well as an acetate-based bleaching tray. Tooth color was measured in triplicates using a clinical spectrophotometer based on the CIELAB system. The standard deviations of these readings were used to estimate reproducibility, and color differences (ΔE00) between the measurements with guides and the control were calculated. Results Repositioning guides had a minimal effect on L* values and no effect on b* values. The use of pink silicone increased a* values, whereas blue or translucent silicone reduced them. Irrespective of the evaluated tooth, the lowest ΔE00 values were observed for the translucent silicone and bleaching tray. The usage of guides only affected data variability for the L* color coordinate.
