The objective of this work was to evaluate the total concentration and bioaccessible fractions of Ba, Ca, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Pb, V and Zn in berry fruits and analyze the influence of different cultivars and growing conditions on the obtained results. The variations in bioaccessible concentrations were from 7.7-30, 17-29, 22-50, 1.8-96, 22-33 and 20-51% of the total concentration, for Ba, Cu, Fe, Mn, Pb and Zn, respectively. Copper showed greater bioaccessibility in blackberry and blueberry. For Fe, bioaccessibility was observed in all strawberries and blueberries and in some blackberries. Zinc presented higher bioaccessible fractions in strawberries. For V, only the sample Blackberry 124 showed bioaccessible concentration, (11% of the total concentration). Regarding the different forms of cultivation, the strawberries that received radiation from the red and white lamps presented a higher production of fruit compared to the other systems, however, in relation to the absorption of nutrients, a small variation was observed between the fruits. Abstract Vineyards are characteristic of Mediterranean Europe, holding a large and diverse number of plants that frequently need to be controlled due to the competition with the vines. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the weed-controlling potential of two organic mulches 0.25 cm rice straw (RS), 0.15 cm eucalyptus leaves (EL), for which chemical analysis was carried out. The experimental trial took place at two vineyards of the School of Agriculture, Lisbon (ISA) and two vineyards in Quinta do Pinto, Torres Vedras (QDP), in 'Alvarinho' and 'Syrah' varieties in both locations, with three replicates. The usual soil management of ISA/QDP was used as Control (C). Floristic surveys (n=216) from March to September 2022 led to indices of abundance, frequency, and diversity, which were compared by descriptive statistics and ANOVA between locations, monthly observations, and treatments. Fifty-nine plant taxa were found. Convovulus arvensis prevailed in the floristic surveys. RS was significantly different from EL and C with lower species richness, diversity and abundance indicators. RS had higher dominance values due to C. arvensis prevalence. There were differences in flora between locations and seasons, but the difference between RS and EL/C was always maintained. RS followed by EL had much higher costs than C, however, costs were not optimized, and the beneficial effects of weeds must be considered. Therefore, EL was considered the most sustainable soil management option. Future research should include biological soil analysis, tests for the longevity and the benefits of mulching in the field.

Resumo As vinhas são características da Europa mediterrânica e suportam uma grande diversidade de plantas que frequentemente necessitam de controlo, devido à competição com a cultura. O objetivo deste estudo é a avaliação do potencial de duas coberturas orgânicas 0,25 cm de palha de arroz (PA); 0,15 cm de folhas de eucalipto (FE), nas quais foram realizadas análises químicas. O ensaio experimental teve lugar em duas vinhas do Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA), Lisboa e duas vinhas na Quinta do Pinto, Torres Vedras (QDP), nas castas 'Alvarinho' e 'Syrah' em ambos os locais e com três repetições. A gestão usual do solo no ISA/QDP foi usada como Testemunha (T). Foram realizados 216 inventários florísticos de março a setembro de 2022 que permitiram calcular e comparar a frequência, abundância e diversidade por estatística descritiva e ANOVA entre locais, observações mensais e modalidades. Encontraram-se 59 taxa, com ocorrência de Convovulus arvensis na maioria dos inventários. PA foi significativamente diferente de FE e T, com menor riqueza específica, diversidade e abundância. PA teve valores dominância superiores a FE/T devido à presença de C. arvensis. Houve alterações na flora entre locais e meses, mas mantiveram-se as diferenças entre PA e FE/T. PA teve maiores custos, seguido de FE e T, mas estes encargos não foram otimizados e não foram incluídos os aspetos positivos da biodiversidade. Assim, FE foi considerada a alternativa de gestão do solo mais sustentável. Investigação futura deverá incluir análises biológicas do solo, testes de longevidade e os benefícios das coberturas no campo.

Introduction Treatment of hemophilia A in Brazil is offered to all patients at no cost. However, several unmet medical needs exist. Method In this study, we applied the Delphi method to discuss with seven hemophilia A specialists the challenges that patients and the health system face regarding hemophilia A treatment and opportunities for improvement. Results A consensus was obtained regarding the number of weekly infusions and patient adherence to treatment. The bleeding profile, unfavourable pharmacokinetics (PKs), low adherence and high daily activity were patient profiles that would benefit from using the extended half-life (EHL) recombinant factor VIII (rFVIII). The advantages of treatment with the EHL rFVIII were the lower number of infusions per week, which could increase patient adherence and decrease the risk of bleeds, due to a more constant plasma level, a lower value. Additionally, the EHL rFVIII could improve quality of life, especially in patients with high daily activity, such as adolescents and young adults. The panelists mentioned that EHL rFVIII, if available, could be offered first to the priority group (adolescents between 12 and 19 years old), followed by adults (20 to 64 years old) and elderly people (over 65 years old). ABSTRACT This study structures objectives and sustainable-development alternatives for the Amazon Forest, based on the Amazônia 4.0 project. Value-Focused Thinking and Value-Focused Brainstorming were adopted. Amazônia 4.0 presents a new paradigm for the rainforest development, emphasizing the sustainable use of the biodiversity with innovative technologies. The project’s strategic objective is to promote the standing-forest’s value, through four fundamental objectives: adding value to products, creating means for industrialization, developing local economy and empowering communities. Alternatives include local mobile bio-industries, certified products, and educational partnerships. Challenges identified involve reevaluating the traditional credit system, creating new public policies, engaging numerous stakeholders, and addressing the lack of infrastructure. Abstract Food processing allows a wide variation in the final quality of the product, which directly depends on the quality of the raw material used, the processing conditions, storage and commercialization. Salting, for example, is one of the oldest methods used to preserve meat. In the meat industry, the incorporation of salts into products is commonly used to improve dietary functionality and ensure food safety. Thus, the objective of this review was to understand that the discarded matrix meat can be used to make jerky meat, adding value to the final product. The processing of jerked beef is based on the osmotic dehydration process in counter flow, promoted by the penetration of salt with consequent exit of water from the inter and extra fibrillar compartments to the surface, with subsequent drying. At the same time, myosin denaturation occurs as a result of high temperatures, as well as myoglobin oxidation, promoted by salt, increasing the susceptibility to protein oxidation. The use of discarded animal meat to make jerky adds value to the by-product, improving sensory quality.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate inactivated CoronaVac prime vaccination, antibody decay, booster dose, and safety in ANCA-Associated Vasculitis (AAV) patients. Methods: Fifty-three AAV patients and 106 Controls (CG) received CoronaVac on days: D0 (first dose), D28(second dose), and D210 (booster dose, 32 AAV: 32 CG). The primary outcome was immunogenicity after the second vaccine dose (day 69) assessed by Seroconversion Rates (SC) of anti-SARS-CoV-2 S1/S2 IgG and Neutralizing Antibodies (NAb). Secondary outcomes were safety, immunogenicity (D28/D240), 6-months antibody decay (D210) and the booster dose response (D240). Results: At D69 SC (65.1% vs. 96.8%, p = 0.0001), GMT (21.3 UA/mL vs. 67.7 UA/mL, p < 0.001) and NAb- positivity (53.7% vs. 80.6%, p = 0.001) were moderate but lower in naïve-AAV patients than CG. Patients without SC used more often IS (93.3% vs. 53.3%, p = 0.015), mycophenolate mofetil (20% vs. 0%, p = 0.037) and prednisone (60.0% vs. 28.6%, p = 0.057) than seroconverted. NAb negativity in AAV patients was associated with prednisone treatment (57.9% vs. 18.2%, p = 0.015) and IS (84.2% vs. 55.0%, p = 0.046). Logistic regression analysis models showed that only prednisone was associated with lower seroconversion (OR = 0.2, 0,95% CI 0.05–0.86, p = 0.030) and with lower NAb positivity (OR = 0.2, 0,95% CI 0.05–0.88, p = 0.034). After six months (D69–D210) a decrease in IgG positivity occurred in 32 AAV patients (15.7%, p = 0.074) and 32 CG (18.7%, p = 0.041). For the NAb positivity, the 6-month decrease was not significant (p = 0.114) whereas a major reduction occurred for CG (p < 0.001). A booster dose (D240) resulted in an increment in IgG-positivity (21.9%, p = 0.023) and NAb-positivity (34.4%, p = 0.006) in AAV patients. No moderate/severe adverse events attributable to the vaccine were observed. Conclusion: This study provides novel data on the excellent safety and moderate immunogenicity of CoronaVac in AAV patients. RESUMO Pessoas vivendo com HIV (PVH), que utilizam a terapia antirretroviral (TARV), são mais suscetíveis a alterações no perfil inflamatório e estresse oxidativo, sendo que as mulheres possuem maior acesso à TARV. Embora o exercício físico seja uma estratégia complementar ao tratamento devido aos seus efeitos antioxidantes e anti-inflamatórios, não está claro se as respostas agudas ao exercício podem ser prejudiciais às PVH. O objetivo do estudo foi investigar o efeito agudo de exercícios com pesos (EP) sobre marcadores inflamatórios e de estresse oxidativo em PVH. Dez mulheres, em uso da TARV, realizaram uma sessão de EP constituída por sete exercícios para o corpo todo. Para avaliação bioquímica, amostras de sangue foram coletadas antes (pré), 1 hora (1h) e 2 horas (2h) após a sessão de EP. A ANOVA one-way seguida do teste post hoc de Bonferroni foi utilizada para comparação dos resultados entre os momentos. ABSTRACT People living with HIV (PLH), who use antiretroviral therapy (ART), are more susceptible to changes in the inflammatory profile and oxidative stress, and women have greater access to ART. Although physical exercise is a complementary strategy to treatment due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, it is not clear whether acute responses to exercise can be harmful to PLH. The aim of the study was to investigate the acute effect of resistance exercise (RE) on inflammatory and oxidative stress markers in PLH. Ten women, using ART, performed RE session consisting of seven exercises for the whole body. For biochemical evaluation, blood samples were collected before (pre), 1 hour (1h) and 2 hours (2h) after the RE session. One-way ANOVA followed by Bonferroni's post hoc test was used to compare results between time points. There was an increase only in markers, GSSG of 160% (pre: 0.40 ± 0.11; 1h: 1.18 ± 0.36; 2h: 1.04 ± 0.25 mmol/g), TNF-α of 98 % (pre: 4.60 ± 0.55; 1h: 6.95 ± 0.77; 2h: 9.10 ± 1.03 pg/ml) and 52% IL-6 (pre: 2.47 ± 0 .67; 1h: 3.63 ± 1.26; 2h: 5.38 ± 2.15 pg/ml). Abstract The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of replacing corn by double-distilled glycerin, a co-product of the biodiesel industry, on goat curd cheese in terms of physical-chemical, microbiological and sensory aspects. Twelve multiparas Saanen goats weighing 47.07 ± 2.41 kg and at 90 ± 5 days of lactation. The experimental design was completely randomized with two treatments (0 and 15% inclusion of glycerin). The physicochemical parameters analyzed were: fat (%), non-fat solids (%), protein (%), lactose (%), salts (%), relative density at 15/15 °C (gmL-1), index cryoscopic (°C), electrical conductivity (mScm-1), pH and acidity. The milk from each treatment was used to make the rennet cheese. The fat had a significant effect (P < 0.05) with inclusion of glycerin in the diet. The physicochemical characteristics of the cheese were influenced (P < 0.05) by feeding up to 15% of glycerin. Regarding sensory attributes, only firmness was influenced (P < 0.05) by the inclusion of glycerin in the diet of dairy goats. Bidistilled glycerin, when inserted in the diet of dairy goats at a level of 15%, causes a reduction in the lipid content of milk and cheese, consequently affecting the cheese yield, and the parameter of firmness in the sensory of the evaluated cheeses.

Resumo No presente estudo é apresentada uma análise específica e abrangente da flora arbórea da Ilha Grande, localizada no município de Angra dos Reis, litoral Sul do estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Informações inéditas e contribuições dos estudos já conduzidos no local que investigaram questões relacionadas à composição e riqueza de espécies arbóreas, grau de ameaça, endemismos e histórico de ocupação e/ou alterações de uso da terra foram reunidas e analisadas. Este estudo é parte do Programa de Pesquisa em Biodiversidade (PPBio) Mata Atlântica que, através de inventários fitossociológicos do componente arbóreo, vêm contribuindo, desde 2010, para o incremento do conhecimento florístico da Ilha Grande. O inventário identificou 509 espécies arbóreas, pertencentes a 220 gêneros e 74 famílias. Dessas, 34 espécies foram categorizadas como ameaçadas de extinção, sendo duas criticamente em perigo, 18 em perigo e 14 vulneráveis. Foram indicadas 53 espécies arbóreas exóticas. Os resultados aqui apresentados reforçam a importância desses inventários como ferramentas indispensáveis para a construção de estratégias e ações de conservação, restauração e manejo da diversidade no contexto da Mata Atlântica.

Abstract In the present study a specific and comprehensive analysis of the arboreal flora of Ilha Grande, located in the municipality of Angra dos Reis, on the southern coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is presented. Unpublished data and contributions from studies already carried out at the site that investigated issues related to the composition and richness of tree species, the degree of threat, endemism and the history of occupation and/or changes in land use were gathered and analyzed. This study is part of the PPBio Mata Atlântica – Programa de Pesquisa em Biodiversidade (Biodiversity Research Program) which, through phytosociological inventories of the tree component, has been contributing, since 2010, to the increase in the floristic knowledge of Ilha Grande. The inventory identified 509 tree species, belonging to 220 genera and 74 families. Of these, 34 species were categorized as threatened, two of which are critically endangered, 18 are endangered and 14 are vulnerable. 53 exotic tree species were indicated. The results presented here reinforce the importance of these inventories as indispensable tools for the construction of strategies and actions for conservation, restoration and management of diversity in the context of the Atlantic Forest.

RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi relatar a experiência dos alunos do mestrado profissional em gestão de serviços de saúde acerca da utilização de conceitos da Análise Institucional, para analisar as resistências ao trabalho interprofissional e interdisciplinar na saúde, localizando-as como um analisador do processo e das relações de trabalho. O estudo foi elaborado a partir da vivência e da análise dos diários institucionais, escritos pelos alunos e analisados com base no referencial teórico da Análise Institucional. Observou-se que a resistência ao trabalho interprofissional e interdisciplinar, principalmente por parte dos médicos, atravessa as organizações de saúde, as relações de trabalho e a assistência aos usuários. Entretanto, essa resistência também é exercida por outros profissionais e pelos usuários, o que limita a interdisciplinaridade e a integralidade da assistência à saúde. Todavia, se, por um lado, ainda, há certa predominância do modelo biomédico, por outro, também se observam resistências a esse modelo nas organizações de saúde, necessitando ampliar os espaços de análise coletiva capazes de enunciar o reducionismo desse paradigma. ABSTRACT This study aimed to report the experience of the students of the professional master’s degree in health services management, regarding the use of concepts of Institutional Analysis, to analyze the resistances to interprofessional and interdisciplinary work in health, locating them as an analyzer of the process and of work relationships. The study was prepared from the experience and analysis of institutional journals, written by students, and analyzed based on the theoretical framework of Institutional Analysis. It was observed that resistance to interprofessional and interdisciplinary work, especially on the part of physicians, crosses health organizations, work relationships, and assistance to users. However, this resistance is also exercised by other professionals and users, which limits the interdisciplinarity and comprehensiveness of health care. But if, on the one hand, there is still a certain predominance of the biomedical model, on the other hand, resistance to this model is also observed in health organizations, needing to expand the spaces of collective analysis capable of enunciating the reductionism of this paradigm. RESUMO Objetivos: analisar a atuação de enfermeiros na assistência a pacientes em cuidados paliativos, com destaque para a dimensão espiritual, à luz da Teoria do Cuidado Humano. Métodos: estudo exploratório, qualitativo, realizado em um hospital localizado em João Pessoa, Paraíba, entre agosto e dezembro de 2019, com 10 enfermeiros. Para coleta de dados, utilizou-se a entrevista semiestruturada. Para análise, optou-se pela técnica de análise de conteúdo. Resultados: a dimensão espiritual do cuidado é contemplada por diversas práticas religiosas e espirituais. Essas são respeitadas e incentivadas pelos enfermeiros, embora exista dificuldade para realizar o atendimento da dimensão espiritual. Considerações Finais: os enfermeiros possuem atitudes congruentes com a Teoria de Jean Watson e aplicam os elementos do Processo Caritas durante a assistência à dimensão espiritual do paciente em cuidados paliativos.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to analyze nurses’ role in assisting patients in palliative care, with emphasis on the spiritual dimension, in the light of Theory of Human Caring. Methods: this is an exploratory, qualitative study, carried out in a hospital in João Pessoa, Paraíba, between August and December 2019, with 10 nurses. For data collection, semi-structured interviews were used. For analysis, we opted for content analysis. Results: the spiritual dimension of care is contemplated by several religious and spiritual practices. These are respected and encouraged by nurses, although there is difficulty in providing care for the spiritual dimension. Final Considerations: nurses have attitudes consistent with Jean Watson’s Theory and apply the Caritas Process elements during assistance to patients’ spiritual dimension in palliative care.

Métodos: estudio exploratorio, cualitativo, realizado en un hospital ubicado en João Pessoa, Paraíba, entre agosto y diciembre de 2019, con 10 enfermeras. Para la recolección de datos se utilizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas. Para el análisis, optamos por la técnica de análisis de contenido. Resultados la dimensión espiritual del cuidado es contemplada por diversas prácticas religiosas y espirituales. Estos son respetados y alentados por las enfermeras, aunque existe dificultad para atender la dimensión espiritual. Consideraciones Finales: las enfermeras tienen actitudes congruentes con la Teoría de Jean Watson y aplican los elementos del Proceso Caritas durante la asistencia a la dimensión espiritual del paciente en cuidados paliativos.

Abstract The objective of this study was carried out to evaluating the productive performance, the physical-chemical quality of the milk, the physical-chemical and sensorial quality of rennet cheeses obtained from the milk of goats submitted to diets with diferente levels of guava agroindustrial waste (GAW). The goats were randomly distributed in a Latin square (4x4) according to the substitution levels (0, 14, 28, and 42%) of inclusion GAW in the diet. The consumption of natural and dry matter increased with the increase in hay substitution. However, the physical-chemical requirements of milk and cheese were not altered.

Abstract The study aimed to evaluate the influence of Crotonblanchetianus Baill essential oil on the sensory parameters of fermented milk drinks with yellow mombin pulp. The milk drinks analyzed contained milk and whey from goat origin, water-soluble soy extract, yellow mombin pulp, and Crotonblanchetianus Baill essential oil (CBEO) in the following proportions: 0.0, 0.0035; 0.0070, and 0.0105 g/L according to the Artemia salina toxicity test. The extraction of essential oil from the Crotonblanchetianus Baill leaves was carried out using hydrodistillation by steam. The sensory profile of the fermented milk drink was obtained through Quantitative Descriptive Analysis. The CBEO influenced the color of yellow mombin, brightness, viscosity, woody flavor, appearance, and flavor attributes. The samples were also approved in the acceptance test, with no statistical difference between treatments. Therefore, it was concluded that the addition of CBEO promoted changes in the sensory characteristics of the fermented milk drink with yellow mombin pulp for the appearance and flavor attributes. However, it did not negatively influence the acceptance of the analyzed product.

Abstract This study's objective was to evaluate the physical-chemical, microbiological, and sensory aspects of pork meat with different levels of salting. Pork from the Duroc and Landrace breeds, with an average live weight of 281 ± 15.72 kg, were used. The physicochemical data were analyzed following a completely randomized design with four salt addition levels (30, 50, 70, and 90%). Sensory analysis was performed through a completely randomized design, observing the influence of salt levels in meat. The physical-chemical and sensory variables did not significantly affect (P>0.05) salt addition, except for cooking loss and water retention capacity. It was concluded that the salt introduction levels of 30 and 50% are the most appreciated by consumers. The addition of salt levels in the pork meat does not modify the physical-chemical characteristics and the meat's sensory analysis.

Abstract The objective of this research was to evaluate the physicochemical quality of milk and cheese from goats-fed diets containing different concentrations of flaxseed oil in replacement of corn. Eight multiparous Saanen goats weighing 51.0 ± 8.0 kg and 67.0 ± 18.0 days of lactation were used. According to the concentrations of linseed oil inclusion in the diet, the goats were randomly distributed in a latin square (4 x 4), according to the concentrations of linseed oil inclusion in the diet (0, 1, 2, and 3%). Milk samples from each animal were collected twice a day, at regular times, during the three days of data collection in each period, for subsequent physicochemical and fatty acid profile analysis employing gas chromatography. The non-fat solids (P = 0.0302) and density (P = 0.0327) variables sgnificantly affected linseed oil in the goats' feed. Regressive effects (linear and quadratic) were not observed for other variables studied, except for lactose and density. Thus, 20 fatty acids have been identified in goat milk, which gives us an essential source of information about animal diet and milk quality concerning human health benefits. Furthermore, there were changes in the lipid profile of milk, decreasing saturated fatty acids and increasing unsaturated fatty acids, resulting in health-promoting effects.
