RESUMO Objetivo: Determinar se existe relação entre polimorfismos dos genes IL10 e IL17 e controle da asma grave e reversibilidade com broncodilatador em crianças e adolescentes com asma grave. Métodos: Estudo transversal, aninhado em um estudo prospectivo de coorte com pacientes com asma grave. Foram avaliados dois desfechos: controle da asma e reversibilidade com broncodilatador. Extraímos DNA do sangue periférico e genotipamos três polimorfismos de nucleotídeo único: rs3819024 e rs2275913 no gene IL17A e rs3024498 no gene IL10. Para as análises de associação, realizamos regressão logística em três modelos genéticos (alélico, aditivo e dominante). Resultados: O alelo C do polimorfismo rs3024498 do gene IL10 apresentou relação com asma que permaneceu descontrolada mesmo com tratamento regular (p = 0,02). No entanto, o alelo G do polimorfismo rs3819024 do gene IL17A apresentou relação com ausência de resposta ao estímulo com b2-agonista. O polimorfismo rs2275913 do gene IL17A não apresentou relação com controle da asma ou reversibilidade com broncodilatador. Conclusões: Em pacientes pediátricos com asma grave, o polimorfismo do gene IL10 parece estar relacionado com ausência de controle clínico, ao passo que o polimorfismo do gene IL17A parece estar relacionado com pior resposta ao broncodilatador. O conhecimento a respeito do envolvimento desses polimorfismos abre perspectivas futuras para estudos farmacogenéticos e para a implantação de manejo terapêutico individualizado da asma grave em pacientes pediátricos. ABSTRACT Objective: To determine whether polymorphisms of the IL10 and IL17 genes are associated with severe asthma control and bronchodilator reversibility in children and adolescents with severe asthma. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study, nested within a prospective cohort study of patients with severe asthma. Two outcomes were evaluated: asthma control and bronchodilator reversibility. We extracted DNA from peripheral blood and genotyped three single nucleotide polymorphisms: rs3819024 and rs2275913 in the IL17A gene; and rs3024498 in the IL10 gene. For the association analyses, we performed logistic regression in three genetic models (allelic, additive, and dominant). Results: The rs3024498 C allele in the IL10 gene was associated with failure to achieve asthma control despite regular treatment (p = 0.02). However, the G allele of the IL17A rs3819024 polymorphism was associated with failure to respond to stimulation with a b2 agonist. The rs2275913 polymorphism of the IL17A gene showed no relationship with asthma control or bronchodilator reversibility. Conclusions: In pediatric patients with severe asthma, the IL10 polymorphism appears to be associated with failure to achieve clinical control, whereas the IL17A polymorphism appears to be associated with a worse bronchodilator response. Knowledge of the involvement of these polymorphisms opens future directions for pharmacogenetic studies and for the implementation of individualized therapeutic management of severe asthma in pediatric patients. Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a solubilização de fósforo de rocha fosfática por Aspergillus niger, em cultivo em estado sólido (CES) em bagaço de cana-de-açúcar (Saccharum officinarum), por meio da maximização da eficiência de produção de ácido cítrico. A rocha fosfática (IPR) escolhida para o estudo é um tipo de rocha ígnea com solubilização de fósforo muito baixa, obtida da empresa Itafós, em Arraias, no estado do Tocantins. Utilizou-se o delineamento composto central rotacional (DCCR) como ferramenta estatística para avaliar o efeito das concentrações da fonte de carbono (sacarose) e da IPR no meio para CES como estratégia para melhorar a solubilização de P. Para o processo sem a IPR, houve produção de ácido cítrico de até 300 g por quilograma de substrato. Os experimentos em DCCR mostraram que a adição da IPR afetou a produção de ácido cítrico, com valores de P solubilizado de 1,44 a 2,72 g por quilograma de substrato e rendimento de P solubilizado de 12,96 a 48,94%. Além disso, a análise da razão P solubilizado/sacarose mostrou condições favoráveis para solubilização de P e produção de ácido cítrico. Os valores de P solubilizado são promissores, ao se considerar que a IPR apresenta baixa solubilização, com apenas 8,6% de P2O5. No geral, esses resultados podem contribuir para o desenvolvimento de processos biotecnológicos, para a produção de fertilizantes fosfatados ambientalmente favoráveis, como alternativa para uma agricultura mais sustentável.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the solubilization of phosphorus from a phosphate rock by Aspergillus niger, under solid-state cultivation (SSC) in sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum) bagasse, by maximizing the efficiency of citric acid production. The phosphate rock (IPR) chosen for the study is a type of igneous rock with a very low phosphorus solubility, obtained from the Itafós company, in Arraias, in the state of Tocantins, Brazil. The rotatable central composite design (RCCD) was used as a statistical tool to evaluate the effect of the concentrations of the carbon source (sucrose) and of the IPR on the SSC medium as a strategy to improve P solubilization. In the process without the IPR, there was a citric acid production of up to 300 g per kilogram of substrate. The experiments in the RCCD showed that the addition of the IPR affected citric acid production, with values of solubilized P ranging from 1.44 to 2.72 g per kilogram of substrate and of solubilized P yield from 12.96 to 48.94%. The analysis of the solubilized P/sucrose ratio showed favorable conditions for P solubilization and citric acid production. The obtained solubilized P values are promising considering that the IPR has a very low solubilization, with only 8.6% P2O5. Overall, these findings could contribute to the development of biotechnological processes for producing eco-friendly phosphate fertilizers, as an alternative for a more sustainable agriculture.

Resumo Objetivou-se investigar a capacidade adsortiva dos elementos Cromo (Cr), Manganês (Mn) e Zinco (Zn) à alga marinha Lithothamnium calcareum por meio de ensaios de cinética de adsorção e adsorção em batelada, tendo em vista o desenvolvimento de uma técnica simples para o tratamento de efluentes que apresentam elevada concentração de íons metálicos. A alga foi peneirada, lavada e submetida a tratamento. Na cinética de adsorção, pesou-se 0,2 g de alga, quantidade transferida para frascos Erlenmeyer de 125 mL, aos quais adicionou-se 15 mL de solução em concentração de 5 mg L-1 do íon metálico. Os frascos foram agitados a 60 rpm, por 240 minutos. Na adsorção em batelada, pesou-se 0,2 g de alga, quantidade transferida para frascos Erlenmeyer de 125 mL, aos quais adicionou-se 15 mL de solução em concentrações de 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 250 e 500 mg L-1 do íon metálico. Os frascos foram agitados a 60 rpm, por 24 horas. Nos dois ensaios, as soluções sobrenadantes coletadas foram centrifugadas a 2000 rpm, por 5 minutos, e as concentrações de equilíbrio dos íons metálicos foram determinadas por espectrometria de absorção atômica. Verificou-se que, em 240 minutos de contato, a Lithothamnium calcareum removeu 15,5% do Cr, 33,0% do Mn e 8,0% do Zn em solução, e que, em 24 horas de contato, em concentração de 5 mg L-1, removeu 0,4% de Cr, 52,5% de Mn e 92,6% de Zn, e, em concentração de 500 mg L-1, removeu 20,0% de Cr, 22,6% de Mn e 40,8% de Zn. Os resultados mostraram que a Lithothamnium calcareum submetida ao tratamento termoquímico apresentou potencial de uso na adsorção de Cr, Mn e Zn.

Abstract This study investigated the adsorption capacity of the elements Chromium (Cr), Manganese (Mn) and Zinc (Zn) to marine algae Lithothamnium calcareum by means of adsorption kinetics and batch adsorption tests, with a view to the development of a simple technique for the treatment of effluents that have a high concentration of metal ions. The algae was sieved, washed and subjected to treatment. In the adsorption kinetics, 0.2 g of algae was weighed, an amount transferred to 125 mL Erlenmeyer flasks, to which was added 15 mL of solution with a concentration of 5 mg L-1 of the metal ion. The flasks were stirred at 60 rpm for 240 minutes. In batch adsorption, 0.2 g of algae was weighed, amount transferred to 125 mL Erlenmeyer flasks, to which was added 15 mL of solution with concentrations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 250 e 500 mg L-1 of the metal ion. The flasks were stirred at 60 rpm for 24 hours. In the two tests, the supernatant solutions collected were centrifuged at 2000 rpm for 5 minutes and the equilibrium concentrations of metal ions were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. It was found that, in 240 minutes of contact, the Lithothamnium calcareum removed 15.5% of Cr, 33.0% of Mn and 8.0% of Zn in solution; and that in 24 hours of contact, at a concentration of 5 mg L-1, it removed 0.4% of Cr, 52.5% of Mn and 92.6% of Zn; and, at a concentration of 500 mg L-1, it removed 20.0% of Cr, 22.6% of Mn and 40.8% of Zn. The results showed that the Lithothamnium calcareum submitted to thermochemical treatment presented potential for use in the adsorption of Cr, Mn and Zn.

RESUMO O longo período residual dos herbicidas pré-emergentes pode interferir em culturas sucessoras, ocasionando o fenômeno denominado de efeito residual (carryover). O trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito residual dos herbicidas imazapir + imazapic na cultura de algodão em sucessão à soja. O experimento foi conduzido entre setembro de 2016 a março de 2017, no delineamento em blocos, com quatro repetições, sendo os tratamentos quatro doses de imazapir + imazapic, 75, 150, 225 e 300 g i.a. ha-1 e a testemunha. As variáveis analisadas foram fluorescência da clorofila a, altura da planta, comprimento e volume da raiz, massa seca da parte aérea e massa seca da raiz. Os dados gerados foram submetidos à análise da variância e ao teste de Tukey, a p ≤ 0,05 de probabilidade. A diminuição nos índices de desempenho fotossintético no algodão nos tratamentos com doses de 150, 225 e 300 g i.a. ha-1 aos 15 dias após emergência (DAE), e com dose de 75 g i.a. ha-1 aos 60 DAE, indica o efeito fotoinibitório destes herbicidas sobre as plantas, entretanto, as variáveis altura da planta, comprimento, volume e massa seca da raiz não foram afetados nos tratamentos testados. Portanto, a persistência do herbicida no solo não foi suficiente para caracterizar o efeito residual (carryover) em algodão 135 dias após a aplicação (DAA).

ABSTRACT The long residual period of pre-emergent herbicides can interfere with successor crops, causing a phenomenon named carryover. This study evaluated the residual effect of imazapyr + imazapic herbicides on cotton crop grown in succession to soybean. The experiment was conducted between September 2016 and March 2017, in a randomized block design with 4 replicates, where the treatments were four doses of imazapyr + imazapic, 75, 150, 225 and 300 g a.i. ha-1, and the control. The analyzed variables were chlorophyll a fluorescence, shoot height, root length and volume, dry shoot mass and root dry mass. The data were submitted to analysis of variance and Tukey’s test, at p ≤ 0.05. The reduction in photosynthetic performance indexes for treatments of 150, 225 and 300 g a.i. ha-1 at 15 days after emergence (DAE) and of 75 g a.i ha-1 at 60 DAE indicated a photoinhibitory effect of these herbicides on plants. However, shoot height, length, volume and root dry mass were not affected in the treatments tested. Therefore, the persistence of the herbicide in the soil was not enough to characterize a carryover effect in cotton 135 days after application (DAA).

Abstract Aim: To evaluate the effects of whole-body vibration in the sciatic nerve of oophorectomized Wistar rats, on nociceptive and morphological parameters, such as fiber, axon, and myelin sheath diameters, G ratio, number of nerve fiber and nuclei of Schwann cells, and percentage of connective tissue. Method: Sixty-four rats were used in the groups sham-operate and oophorectomy (n = 32/group); after surgical procedures, each group was subdivided into four: euthanized in the 12th week, untreated and treated for four weeks; and euthanized in the 16th week, untreated and treated for eight weeks. The treatment with vibration was performed with a 60 Hz frequencies, for 10 minutes, three days a week, with duration of 4 or 8 weeks. Nociception was evaluated later, in the right paw, by means of a digital analgesimeter, prior to surgery, at the beginning and at the end of the protocol. After the trial period, the sciatic nerve was dissected for examination of the general morphology of the tissue and morphometric analysis; later, the animals were euthanized. Results: Regarding nociception and the morphometry of the sciatic nerve, independent of oophorectomy and treatment time, there was no statistically significant difference within and between groups. Also, the general morphology of the tissue in all groups had characteristics that were preserved. Conclusion: The mechanical vibration did not alter the nociceptive threshold and the morphological aspects of nerve fibers in oophorectomized Wistar rats.

ABSTRACT Objects To compare insulin resistance (IR) and metabolic aspects of patients with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) and individuals without the disease. Subjects and methods Forty patients with NF1 were matched by sex, age, and body mass index (BMI) to 40 controls from the community. Blood samples were collected for biochemical assessment. Homeostasis model assessment adiponectin (HOMA-AD), Homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), and adiponectin/leptin ratio (ALR) were used to identify IR. Results The median HOMA-IR values were similar between the groups. However, the HOMA-AD value was significantly lower and the ALR significantly higher in the NF1 group. Fasting blood glucose (FBG), leptin, and visfatin levels of patients with NF1 were significantly lower, although adiponectin levels were significantly higher than those in the controls. Fasting insulin and blood glucose levels 2 hours after administration of 75 g of dextrose, glycated hemoglobin, and resistin showed no significant differences between groups. The HOMA-AD correlated with BMI, FBG, blood glucose levels 2 hours after administration of 75 g of dextrose, fasting insulin, glycated hemoglobin, adiponectin, leptin, visfatin, ALR, and HOMA-IR. The ALR correlated with BMI leptin, visfatin, and adiponectin. Conclusions Lower levels of FBG, leptin, visfatin, and HOMA-AD, and higher adiponectin levels and ALR may be related to increased insulin sensitivity and lower occurrence of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients with NF1

MÉTODOS Estudo transversal com amostra representativa de 1.451 idosos residentes na zona urbana de Pelotas, RS, em 2014. Foi realizada análise descritiva dos dados e apresentada a prevalência de quedas no último ano. A análise de fatores demográficos, socioeconômicos, comportamentais e de saúde associados ao desfecho foi realizada por meio de regressão de Poisson com ajuste para variância robusta conforme modelo hierárquico. As variáveis foram ajustadas entre si dentro de cada nível e para as de nível superior. Aquelas com p ≤ 0,20 foram mantidas no modelo para controle de confusão e aquelas com p < 0,05 foram consideradas associadas ao desfecho. RESULTADOS A prevalência de quedas em idosos no último ano foi de 28,1% (IC95% 25,9–30,5), e a maioria ocorreu na própria residência do idoso. Entre os idosos que sofreram queda, 51,5% (IC95% 46,6–56,4) tiveram uma única queda e 12,1% (IC95% 8,9–15,3) tiveram fratura como consequência, sendo a de membros inferiores a mais relatada. A prevalência de quedas foi maior em mulheres, idosos com idade avançada, de menor renda e escolaridade, com incapacidade funcional para atividades instrumentais e portadores de enfermidades como diabetes, doença cardíaca e artrite. CONCLUSÕES A ocorrência de quedas atingiu quase um terço dos idosos, e a prevalência foi mais elevada em segmentos específicos da população em questão. Cerca de 12% dos idosos que caíram, fraturaram algum osso. Os fatores associados à ocorrência de quedas identificados neste estudo poderão nortear medidas que visem sua prevenção na população de idosos.

The prevalence of falls was higher in women, adults of advanced age, with lower income and schooling level, with functional incapacity for instrumental activities, and patients with diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and arthritis. CONCLUSIONS The occurrence of falls reached almost a third of the older adults, and the prevalence was higher in specific segments of the population in question. About 12% of the older adults who fell fractured some bone. The factors associated with the occurrence of falls identified in this study may guide measures aimed at prevention in the older adult population.

RESUMO: Objetivou-se avaliar a eficácia do firocoxib no controle da quebra da barreira hematoaquosa experimentalmente induzida em gatos saudáveis e com sorologia positiva para toxoplasmose. Para tanto, utilizaram-se trinta e dois gatos sem alterações oculares, alocados em grupos (n=8/cada) compostos por gatos saudáveis que receberam tratamento prévio com 5mg g-1 de firocoxib oral (HF) ou sem nenhum tratamento (CH) no dia 0, e por gatos com sorologia positiva para toxoplasmose tratados de maneira similar (FT e CT). No dia 1, os gatos de todos os grupos receberam o mesmo protocolo de tratamento do dia anterior e, 1h depois, foram submetidos à paracentese da câmara anterior sob anestesia geral (M0). Após 1h, realizou-se nova paracentese (M1). Mediante a colheita de humor aquoso (M0 e M1), quantificaram-se os valores de proteína total e prostaglandina E2 (PGE2) das amostras. As amostras dos gatos com sorologia positiva para toxoplasmose foram também testadas para anticorpos anti- T. gondii IgG específicos. Em M0, as amostras de humor aquoso de CT apresentaram concentração de PGE2 significativamente superior aos demais grupos (P<0,05). Em todos os grupos, a concentração de PGE2 aumentou significativamente de M0 para M1 (P=0,001), no entanto, não houve diferença significativa entre os grupos em M1 (P=0,17). Anticorpos anti -T. gondii IgG específicos foram encontrados somente em amostras de M1, e os títulos não diferiram significativamente entre FT e CT (P=0,11). Valores de PGE2 significativamente superiores no CT durante M0 não foram capazes de induzir a quebra da barreira hematoaquosa e causar uveíte anterior nos gatos deste estudo. O firocoxib, por sua vez, não foi capaz de prevenir a quebra da barreira hematoaquosa após realização de paracente na câmara anterior em gatos saudáveis e com sorologia positiva para toxoplasmose.

ABSTRACT: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of firocoxib for controlling experimentally-induced breakdown of the blood-aqueous barrier in healthy and Toxoplasma gondii -seropositive cats. Thirty two cats with no ocular abnormalities were used. Groups (n=8/each) were formed with healthy cats that received 5mg g-1 of oral firocoxib (FH) or no treatment (CH) on day 0; seropositive cats for anti -T. gondii specific immunoglobulin G (IgG) were grouped (n=8/each) and treated in a similar fashion (FT and CT). On day 1, cats of all groups received the same treatment protocol, and 1h later, aqueocentesis was performed under general anesthesia (M0). Following 1h, the same procedure was repeated (M1). Quantitation of aqueous humor total protein and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) were determined. Aqueous samples of seropositive cats were tested for anti- T. gondii specific IgG. In M0, aqueous samples of CT showed a significantly higher concentration of PGE2 in comparison with other groups (P<0.05). In all groups, PGE2 concentration increased significantly from M0 to M1 (P=0.001). PGE2 values did not change significantly between groups in M1 (P=0.17). Anti- T. gondii specific IgG were reported only in samples of M1, and aqueous titers did not change significantly between FT and CT (P=0.11). Although we have observed that aqueous humor PGE2 levels were significantly higher in cats of CT group during M0, such increase was not able to break the blood-aqueous barrier and cause anterior uveitis. Firocoxib did not prevent intraocular inflammation after aqueocentesis, in healthy and toxoplasmosis-seropositive cats.

ResumoUm importante índice para a indústria sucroalcooleira é a produtividade de sacarose em cana-de-açúcar, que pode ser relacionada à capacidade da planta em acumular sacarose durante a maturação. Apesar de se conhecer a eficiência de tratamentos como a restrição hídrica e a aplicação de reguladores para estimular o acúmulo de sacarose nos colmos, pouco se conhece sobre as respostas fisiológicas da planta que levam à maturação. Nesse contexto, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar as respostas fisiológicas da cana-de-açúcar a diferentes tratamentos indutores de maturação e, assim, compreender melhor a fisiologia desse processo. Duas variedades, a IACSP95-5000, de alta produtividade, e a IACSP94-2094, de produtividade moderada, foram submetidas ao déficit hídrico, à aplicação de regulador químico (etefom 480 g ha–1) e aos dois tratamentos associados. Foram medidos o crescimento, a concentração de carboidratos em folhas e colmos e as trocas gasosas. Concluiu-se que o efeito do etefom em cana-de-açúcar é genótipo-dependente, estimulando o acúmulo de sacarose no colmo e o suprimento de fotoassimilados pela fonte na variedade responsiva (IACSP95-5000). Tais efeitos não são associados à restrição do crescimento. Em relação à aplicação dos tratamentos de déficit hídrico e etefom associados, a variedade responsiva apresenta aumento no teor de sacarose no colmo nos mesmos níveis apresentados quando apenas etefom é aplicado, de modo que os tratamentos não apresentam efeitos aditivos na maturação da cana-de-açúcar.

AbstractAn important index for the ethanol industry is the sucrose yield in sugarcane, which is affected by plant ability to accumulate sucrose during ripening. Despite the known efficiency of treatments such as water restriction and the application of regulators to stimulate the sucrose storage in culms, little is known about the physiological responses of the plant that lead to ripening. In this context, the aim of this study was to evaluate the physiological responses of sugarcane to different ripening treatments. Two varieties, IACSP95-5000, with high yield, and IACSP94-2094, with moderate yield were subjected to water deficit or application of chemical regulator (ethephon 480 g ha–1) and both treatments associated. Growth, accumulation of carbohydrates in leaves and culms were measured. It can be concluded that the effects of ethephon on sugarcane are genotype-dependent. Ethephon stimulates sucrose accumulation in the culm and the photosynthate supply by the source in the responsive variety (IACSP95-5000). Such effects are not associated with growth restriction. In relation to the drought combined with the application of ethephon, the responsive variety shows increased sucrose content in culm at the same level as when ethephon is applied alone, hence treatments have no additive effects on sugarcane ripening.

Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito de níveis crescentes de concentrado sobre a produção dos componentes carcaça e não-carcaça de borregas confinadas. Vinte e quatro borregas mestiças foram aleatoriamente distribuídas em quatro tratamentos: dieta com 20%; 40%; 60%; 80% de concentrado. Os animais foram abatidos quando aqueles que recebiam a dieta 80% de concentrado atingiram o peso adulto (50 kg PV). Os dados foram analisados por meio de análise de variância e regressão. Os pesos da paleta e da perna cresceram linearmente com o aumento dos níveis de concentrado, porém, o rendimento da paleta não foi influenciado com média de 16%, e o rendimento da perna reduziu linearmente (28g para cada 1% de concentrado adicionado). O valor percentual das vísceras reduziu linearmente, assim como da cabeça e patas. Os componentes não-carcaça representaram valores de 34,64; 38,60; 38,55 e 39,88% do PV para os níveis de 20, 40, 60 e 80% de concentrado, respectivamente. Conclui-se que os pesos dos cortes são influenciados positivamente pelo aumento dos níveis de concentrado. O aumento dos níveis de concentrado proporciona menor percentual de vísceras e aumento na deposição de gordura subcutânea dos cortes cárneos comerciais.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of increasing levels of concentrate on the production of carcass and non-carcass components of feedlot ewes. Twenty-four crossbred ewes were randomly distributed in four treatments: diet with 20%; 40%; 60%; and 80% concentrate. Animals were slaughtered when those receiving the diet with 80% concentrate reached adult live weight (50 kg LW). The data were analyzed by variance and regression analyses. The weights of the shoulder and leg rise linearly with the increase in the levels of concentrate, but shoulder yield was not affected, with an average of 16%, and the leg yield reduced linearly (28 g for each 1% concentrate added). The percentage value of the viscera reduced linearly, as well as those of head and paws. The non-carcass components represented values of 34.64; 38.60; 38.55; and 39.88% of the LW for the levels of 20, 40, 60 and 80% of concentrate, respectively. The weight of the cuts is affected positively by the increase in the levels of concentrate. The increase in the levels of concentrate promotes lower percentage of viscera and increase in the deposition of back fat of the commercial meat cuts.

The objective of this paper is to assess the effects of the inclusion of different levels of green propolis extract in the diet of lambs in feedlot on ingestive behavior, nutrients digestibility, physiological parameters and performance. Eight lambs were distributed in double Latin Square with four treatments, corresponding to the inclusion levels (4, 8, 12, 16 mL) of green propolis ethanolic extract (30 g of ground crude propolis was infused in a 100-mL hydroalcoholic solution, 700 mL/L). The diets were composed of Brachiaria brizantha cv. MG5 hay and a commercial concentrate (roughage:concentrate ratio was 50:50) in a dry matter basis. No effect was observed on dry matter (31.2 g/kg of BW), crude protein, ether extract, neutral detergent fiber, non-fibrous carbohydrates and total digestible nutrients content (TDN) intakes. No significant effect was seen on the digestibility coefficients, presenting an average of 65.94% of TDN. The green propolis extract levels do not have a significant effect on behavior or physiologic parameters. Seeking to maximize feeding efficiency, the inclusion of 7.60 mL/day (2.1189 mg of dry matter and 0.1123 mg of flavonoids) of green propolis extract in the diet of lambs in feedlot is recommended.
