Resumen Introducción: el dengue es una enfermedad endémica en el municipio de San José del Guaviare. En el 2010, el 2014, el 2018 y el 2022 se registraron epidemias. Sin embargo, a pesar de ser endémico, este no cuenta con una focalización que permita priorizar acciones. Objetivo: estratificar el riesgo de dengue en el municipio de San José del Guaviare en 2022, mediante el uso de variables epidemiológicas, entomológicas, socioeconómicas y ambientales para la planificación de acciones de prevención y control. Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal. Se categorizó el nivel de riesgo para dengue de los barrios del municipio, integrando la persistencia e incidencia acumulada de dengue, índice pupal de Aedes aegypti, estrato socioeconómico y acceso de agua potable. La categorización de cada una de las variables se realizó por terciles, se calcularon medidas de tendencia central (promedio, mediana). Para su análisis la información fue procesada y organizadas en tablas y cartografía de riesgo. Resultados: en la variable entomológica, el 43,5% (10/23) de los barrios presentaron un alto índice de pupas Aedes aegypti. En la variable epidemiológica, el 52,3% (23/44) de los barrios se categorizaron en alta transmisión. En la variable ambiental, el 76,2% (32/42) de los barrios se categorizaron en nivel de riesgo medio. Según la variable socioeconómica, el 83,3% (35/42) de los barrios se categorizaron en riesgo alto. Al integrar las variables analizadas, los barrios se categorizaron para la transmisión de dengue en: riesgo muy alto 23,4% (11/47), riesgo alto 31,9% (15/47), riesgo medio 8,5% (4/47) y riesgo bajo 34,0% (16/47). Conclusiones: en la integración final de riesgo aquellos barrios que se clasificaron en muy alto y alto riesgo para la transmisión de dengue, se deben focalizar las acciones de control, promoción y prevención del municipio. Igualmente, se debe continuar con la estratificación en períodos estacionales por cambios en las condiciones ecológicas del vector y dinámicas de transmisión.

Background Dengue is an endemic disease in this municipality, epidemics were recorded in 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022. Despite being endemic, it does not have a focus that allows prioritizing actions. The objective of this research was to stratify the risk of dengue in the municipality of San José del Guaviare in 2022, through the use of epidemiological, entomological, socioeconomic and environmental variables for the planning of prevention and control actions. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out. The level of risk for dengue in the neighborhoods of the municipality was categorized, integrating the persistence and cumulative incidence of dengue, Aedes aegypti pupal index, socioeconomic stratum, and access to drinking water. The categorization of each of the variables was carried out by tertiles, measures of central tendency (mean, median) were calculated. For its analysis, the information was processed and organized into tables and risk cartography. Results: In the entomological variable, 43.5% (10/23) of the neighborhoods had a high rate of Aedes aegypti pupae. In the epidemiological variable, 52.3% (23/44) of the neighborhoods were categorized as having high transmission. In the environmental variable, 76.2% (32/42) of the neighborhoods were categorized as a medium risk level. According to the socioeconomic variable, 83.3% (35/42) of the neighborhoods were categorized as high risk. By integrating the variables analyzed, the neighborhoods were categorized for dengue transmission as: very high risk 23.4% (11/47), high risk 31.9% (15/47), medium risk 8.5% (4 /47) and low risk 34.0% (16/47). Conclusions: In the final integration of risk, those neighborhoods that were classified as very high and high risk for dengue transmission should focus on the control, promotion and prevention actions of the municipality. Continue with the stratification in seasonal periods due to changes in the ecological conditions of the vector and transmission dynamics.

Summary: In different trials have shown that the use of both vermicompost (VC) and plastic mulch has favored the yield and productivity of a large number of crops. The purpose of our study was to compare synthetic fertilization vs the incorporation of VC on the development of triploid watermelon with plastic mulch in the spring-summer 2019 agricultural cycle at the experimental field of the Universidad Autónoma Agraria Antonio Narro. The treatments evaluated, each with three repetitions, were: exploratory application of VC, at a rate of 30 and 60 Mg ha-1, and as a control, the regional recommendation 240-120-00 ha-1 (N-P-K). The sowing was carried out in planting beds of 2 × 8 m (width and length, respectively) covered with black plastic. The sowing of the triploid watermelon seeds of the Crunchy Red variety, was carried out in Styrofoam trays with 200 cavities filled with Peat Moss. When the seedlings had two to three true leaves, they were transplanted 1.0 m apart on planting beds of 2 × 8 m (width and length, respectively) covered with black plastic. For the supply of water, drip irrigation was used. To evaluate the effect of the treatments, a completely randomized experimental design was used, the DMS0.05 test was applied for comparisons of the means. Due to the effect of the treatments evaluated, five of the variables studied: equatorial and polar diameters, pulp thickness, soluble solids and fruit weight presented highly significant differences, while yield registered a significant difference. The highest yield of 29 932 Mg ha-1 was recorded with the incorporation of 60 Mg ha-1 of VC confirming that this natural fertilizer was able to satisfy the nutritional needs of triploid watermelon without synthetic fertilization.

Resumen: En diferentes ensayos se ha evidenciado que el empleo, tanto del vermicompost (VC) como del acolchado plástico ha favorecido el rendimiento y la productividad de una gran cantidad de cultivos. El propósito del estudio fue equiparar la fertilización sintética vs la incorporación del VC sobre el desarrollo de la sandía triploide con acolchado plástico en el ciclo agrícola primavera-verano 2019, en el campo experimental de la Universidad Autónoma Agraria Antonio Narro. Los tratamientos evaluados, cada uno con tres repeticiones, fueron: aplicación exploratoria de VC, a razón de 30 y 60 Mg ha-1, y como testigo, la recomendación regional 240-120-00 ha-1 (N-P-K). La siembra de semillas de sandía triploide, variedad Crunchy Red, se realizó en bandejas de unicel de 200 cavidades, rellenas con Peat Moss, cuando las plántulas tuvieron de dos a tres hojas verdaderas se realizó el trasplante, colocándolas a 1.0 m, entre éstas, sobre camas de siembra, de 2 × 8 m (ancho y largo, respectivamente) cubiertas con plástico negro. Para el suministro de agua se utilizó riego por cintilla. Para evaluar el efecto de los tratamientos se utilizó un diseño experimental completamente al azar, mientras que para las comparaciones de las medias se aplicó la prueba DMS0.05. Debido al efecto de los tratamientos evaluados cinco de las variables estudiadas: diámetros polar y ecuatorial, espesor de pulpa, sólidos solubles y peso del fruto registraron diferencias altamente significativas, mientras que el rendimiento presentó diferencia significativa. El mayor rendimiento de 29 932 Mg ha-1 se registró con la aplicación de 60 Mg ha-1 de VC, confirmándose que este producto logró cubrir la demanda nutritiva de la sandía triploide sin fertilización sintética.

Summary: Chitosan as a natural biostimulant promotes the growth and development of crops, development and yield of crops. Several studies have proven the efficacy of chitosan to improve cucumber production, the study of the response to different doses of chitosan is necessary, therefore the objective of the present study was determine the effect of six concentrations of chitosan on the growth and production of the cucumber crop. Six treatments: T1= Control; T2= QuitoMax® 100 mg L-1; T3= QuitoMax® 200 mg L-1; T4= QuitoMax® 300 mg L-1; T5= 400 mg L-1 and T6= 500 mg L-1, were applied by manual spraying at 15, 30 and 45 days after transplanting the hybrid cucumber Diamante F1, using a randomized block experimental design with three repetitions and five plants per experimental unit. The variables length of the guide, number of fruits per plant, length, diameter and weight of the fruit, and yield in kg ha-1 were recorded. The length of the guide was measured at 15, 30 and 45 days, so for this variable a model of repeated measurements in time and comparison of means by least squares, for the rest of the variables an orthogonal polynomial analysis was used to determine the response of the variables to the different concentrations of chitosan. All variables presented a positive linear response to the application of chitosan. It is concluded that chitosan influences the growth and development of the cucumber plant. Increasing its yield as the dose of chitosan increases. The dose of 500 mg L-1 in this study was the one that had the best results. The need to study higher doses of chitosan is suggested.

Resumen: El quitosano como bioestimulante natural, promueve el crecimiento, desarrollo y rendimiento de los cultivos. Diversos estudios han probado la eficacia del quitosano para mejorar la producción de pepino, el estudio de la respuesta a diferentes dosis de quitosano se hace necesario, por ello el objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar el efecto de seis concentraciones de quitosano sobre el crecimiento y producción del cultivo de pepino. Seis tratamientos: T1 = Testigo; T2 = QuitoMax® 100 mg L-1 ; T3 = QuitoMax® 200 mg L-1 ; T4 = QuitoMax® 300 mg L-1 ; T5 = QuitoMax® 400 mg L-1 y T6 = QuitoMax® 500 mg L-1, fueron aplicados mediante aspersión manual a los 15, 30 y 45 días después del trasplante del hibrido de pepino Diamante F1, utilizando un diseño experimental de bloques al azar con tres repeticiones y cinco plantas por unidad experimental. Se registraron las variables longitud de la guía (cm), número de frutos por planta, longitud (cm), diámetro (cm) y peso del fruto (g), y el rendimiento en kg ha-1. La longitud de la guía se midió a los 15, 30 y 45 días, por lo que para esta variable se utilizó un modelo de mediciones repetidas en el tiempo y comparación de medias por mínimos cuadrados, para el resto de las variables se utilizó un análisis de polinomios ortogonales para determinar la respuesta de las variables a las diferentes concentraciones de quitosano. Todas las variables presentaron una respuesta lineal positiva a la aplicación de quitosano. Se concluye que el quitosano influye en el crecimiento y desarrollo de la planta del pepino, incrementando su rendimiento conforme se incrementa la dosis de quitosano. La respuesta lineal positiva sugiere que dosis de 500 mg L-1 o mayores de quitosano son recomendables para mejorar el rendimiento del cultivo de pepino.

Summary: Bioestimulants such as chitosan in traditional agriculture have proven effective in promoting plant growth and development, as well as protecting them from diseases. However, in aquaponic production systems its effect is not documented, therefore the objective of the present work was to determine the effect of chitosan concentration (0, 500 and 1000 mg L-1) in three varieties (Great Lakes, Regina 500 and Red Rock) of lettuce (Latuca sativa L.), on production parameters in a circular aquaponics system. Using a completely randomized design with a 3×3 factorial arrangement, chitosan was applied by spraying at 10 and 45 days after transplantation. After the analysis of variance, the differences due to the variety were determined using the Tukey test and the effect of chitosan concentration through orthogonal polynomials, in addition to a correlation analysis and simple linear regression between the yield, height, number and length of the leaves. The results showed that the variables number of leaves, length of leaves and root, plant weight, plant height and yield increased as the dose of chitosan increased. The Red Rock variety outperformed the Regina 500 and Great Lakes varieties. No presence of insects or diseases was detected. It is concluded that chitosan favors the growth, development and yield of the lettuce plant in a circular aquaponic system, especially with doses of 1000 mg L-1 of chitosan, and that with respect to these same variables, the Red Rock variety surpasses to the Regina 500 and Great Lakes varieties.

Resumen: Los bioestimulantes como el quitosano en la agricultura tradicional han demostrado su eficacia para promover el crecimiento y desarrollo de las plantas, así como protegerlas de enfermedades. Sin embargo, en sistemas de producción acuapónicos su efecto no está documentado, por ello el objetivo del presente trabajo fue determinar el efecto de la concentración de quitosano (0, 500 y 1000 mg L-1) en tres variedades (Grandes Lagos, Regina 500 y Red Rock) de lechuga (Latuca sativa L.), sobre los parámetros de producción en un sistema circular de acuaponía. Utilizando un diseño completamente al azar con un arreglo factorial 3×3 el quitosano se aplicó mediante aspersión a los 10 y 45 días después del trasplante. Posterior al análisis de varianza, las diferencias debido a la variedad se determinaron utilizando la prueba de Tukey y, el efecto de la concentración de quitosano mediante polinomios ortogonales, además de un análisis de correlación y regresión lineal simple entre el rendimiento, altura, número y longitud de las hojas. Los resultados demostraron que las variables número de hojas, longitud de hojas y raíz, peso de planta, altura de planta y rendimiento, se incrementó conforme se aumentó la dosis de quitosano. La variedad Red Rock superó a las variedades Regina 500 y Grandes Lagos. No se detectó la presencia de insectos ni enfermedades. Se concluye que el quitosano favorece el crecimiento, desarrollo y rendimiento de la planta de lechuga en un sistema circular de acuaponía, sobre todo con dosis de 1000 mg L-1 de quitosano, y que respecto a estas mismas variables, la variedad Red Rock supera a las variedades Regina 500 y Grandes Lagos.

Summary: The cocoa crop is very susceptible to nutritional deficiencies and moniliasis caused by the phytopathogen Moniliophthora roreri. One of the alternatives to synthetic chemicals are compounds based on silicon (Si). In the present investigation, the ef fect of silicon as a biostimulant in cocoa cultivation and as a biological control agent for M. roreri was evaluated. In the experiment, five Si treatments were used: T1 (4.00 kg ha-1), T2 (3.00 kg ha-1), T3 (2.00 kg ha-1) and T4 (1.5 kg ha-1) and a control treatment (without application). Production indicators, ear number, fresh and dry weight of almonds, dry weight of 100 almonds and crop yield were determined. In addition, the incidence and severity of the disease at 60, 120 and 180 days af ter the application of Si and the ef ficiency of the treatments. The significantly higher results for the variables: Production, ear number, fresh and dry weight of almond and dry weight of 100 almonds, were obtained by applying 4 kg ha-1 of Si, all doses of Si exceeded the control (P ≤ 0.05) in the variables related to production. In the control of the phytopathogen (M. roreri), the dose of 4 kg ha-1 Si decreased the incidence and severity of the disease by more than 50%. The application of Si can be an option in cocoa cultivation as a biostimulant and biological control agent for M. roreri.

Resumen: El cultivo del cacao es muy susceptible a deficiencias nutrimentales y a la moniliasis ocasionada por el fitopatógeno Moniliophthora roreri. Una de las alternativas a los productos químicos sintéticos son los compuestos a base de silicio (Si). En la presente investigación se evaluó el efecto del silicio como bioestimulante en el cultivo de cacao y agente de control biológico de M. roreri. En el experimento se utilizaron cincos tratamientos de Si: T1 (4.00 kg ha-1), T2 (3.00 kg ha-1), T3 (2.00 kg ha-1) y T4 (1.5 kg ha-1) y un tratamiento control (sin aplicación). Se determinaron los indicadores de producción, número de mazorca, peso fresco y seco de almendras, peso seco de 100 almendras y el rendimiento del cultivo. Además, de la incidencia y severidad de la enfermedad a los 60, 120 y 180 días después de la aplicación del Si y la eficiencia de los tratamientos. Los resultados significativamente superiores para las variables: Producción, número mazorca, peso fresco y seco de almendra y peso seco de 100 almendra, se obtuvieron mediante la aplicación de 4 kg ha-1 de Si, todas las dosis de Si superaron al control (P ≤ 0.05) en las variables relacionas a la producción. En el control del fitopatógeno (M. roreri), la dosis de 4 kg ha-1 Si disminuyó la incidencia y la severidad de la enfermedad en más del 50%. La aplicación de Si puede ser una opción en el cultivo de cacao como bioestimulante y agente de control biológico de M. roreri.

Abstract Child Sexual Abuse (CDA), an uncomfortable reality for humanity whose numbers rise every year. Given the demands established by international organizations, this research represents a first approach to the phenomenon through a documentary and comparative review to identify CSA prevention programs developed in Mexico and other countries in search of granting Children and Adolescents (C&A) a dignified life and promote their rights to integrity. A qualitative study was implemented through a review of materials using documentary review as an analysis technique. Once the pertinent literature was located, the documentary record was carried out under a methodological process and the corresponding analysis was elaborated through a comparative technique. Within the results of the research, sexual education is insufficient at the basic level even though the SEP has provided material for its prevention without sufficient coverage and the school has become responsible for implementing programs that meet the needs of the context. In the present work, programs aimed at students, parents, teachers and civil organizations whose objectives are to inform, detect risk situations, promote health and provide self-care tools are identified.

Resumen El Abuso Sexual Infantil (ASI), una realidad incómoda para la humanidad cuyas cifras se elevan cada año. Ante las demandas establecidas por las organizaciones internacionales, esta investigación representa una primera aproximación al fenómeno a través de una revisión documental y comparativa para identificar los programas de prevención de ASI desarrollados en México y otros países en busca de otorgar a Niños, Niñas y Adolescentes (NNA) una vida digna y se promuevan sus derechos a la integridad. Se implementó un estudio cualitativo por medio de una revisión de materiales utilizando como técnica de análisis la revisión documental. Una vez localizada la literatura pertinente se procedió el registro documental bajo proceso metodológico y mediante una técnica comparativa se elaboró el análisis correspondiente. Dentro de los resultados de la investigación, la educación sexual resulta insuficiente en el nivel básico a pesar de que la SEP ha dotado de material para su prevención sin cobertura suficiente y la escuela se ha convertido en responsable de implementar programas que atiendan las necesidades del contexto. En el presente trabajo, se identifican programas dirigidos a alumnos, padres, maestros y organizaciones civiles cuyos objetivos son informar, detectar situaciones de riesgo, promover la salud y otorgar herramientas de autocuidado.

Abstract The symbiosis between arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and plants represents an important alternative to increase yields in agricultural crops. The objective of the study was to evaluate the propagation of AMF isolated from soils with different management, and inoculated in Cucurbita pepo var. “Grey Zucchini.” A trap culture was established as a means of AMF propagation and a block design was used (five treatments x 15 repetitions). The native AMF came from three systems (T1 = secondary vegetation; T2 = multipurpose system; T3 = agricultural system). A positive (CP = GLUMIX®MICORRIZAS) and negative (CN = no inoculation) control were used. Mycorrhizal inoculation began in the seedbed, using Peat Moss-sterile soil (50:50 v/v). The substrate method with 12.5 g of native inoculant (T1 = 46 spores; T2 = 32 spores and T3 = 22 spores) was used as the inoculation method. In CP, 5 g of product = 100 spores were used. The results indicate that the greatest mycorrhizal propagation occurred in CP and T1, with a spore multiplication of 135.20 ± 26.24 and 74.67 ± 5.56 spores in 10 g of soil, and identifying a native consortium made up of AMF spores from the Glomaceae and Gigasporacea families. In conclusion, C. pepo represents a promising host for the trapping and multiplication of AMF.

Resumen La simbiosis entre los hongos micorrízícos arbusculares (HMA) y las plantas, representa una alternativa importante para incrementar los rendimientos en los cultivos agrícolas. El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar la propagación de HMA aislados de suelos con diferente manejo e inoculado en Cucurbita pepo var. “Grey Zucchini”. Se estableció un cultivo trampa como medio de propagación de HMA. Se empleó un diseño en bloques (cinco tratamientos x15 repeticiones). Los HMA nativos fueron provenientes de tres sistemas (T1 = vegetación secundaria; T2 = sistema multipropósito; T3 = sistema agrícola). Se usó un control positivo (CP = GLUMIX®MICORRIZAS) y control negativo (CN = sin inoculación). La inoculación micorrízica inició en semillero, empleando Peat Moss-suelo estéril (50:50 v/v). Se empleó como método de inoculación el método por sustrato con 12.5 g de inoculante nativo (T1 = 46 esporas; T2 = 32 esporas y T3 = 22 esporas). En CP empleó 5 g de producto 100 esporas. Los resultados indican que la mayor propagación micorrízica se presentó en el CP y T1, con una multiplicación de esporas de 135.20 ± 26.24 y 74.67 ± 5.56 esporas en 10 g de suelo. Identificando un consorcio nativo conformado de esporas de HMA de las familias Glomaceae y Gigasporacea. En conclusión, C. pepo representa un prometedor hospedero para el trampeo y multiplicación de los HMA.

ABSTRACT Introduction: The cancer colorrectal constitutes cause of death in the world population. The objective of the work is to expose the results of the project of investigation Intervention psicosocial for the prevention, handling and treatment of the cancer colorrectal in Camagüey. Method: The study is of the type Investigación+Desarrollo. It was negotiated in the Center of Development of the Social and Humanistic Sciences in Health, of the University of Medical Sciences of Camagüey and from the provincial Consultation of attention to the patients with cancer colorrectal extended at the primary level, between April of 2020 and April of 2023. The sample constituted by 50 patients diagnosed in the provincial consultation of Coloproctología of the University Hospital Manuel Ascunce Domenech and their relatives; and 60 members of the Basic Group of Work of the Educational Policlínico José Martí Pérez. Results: It contributed to the knowledge in the way in that it impacts the cancer colorrectal in the population of the county and envelope the relationships among the primary and secondary attentions. Actions were implemented with focus psicosocial, relationships interinstitucional settled down among the participant entities. He/she rose the patient's culture and their relatives and the formation posgraduate of professionals. The investigation generated the system of strategies. Discussion: The correspondence of the results was verified with those of investigators of the world and of Cuba, in that which highlights the work with the community and the professional overcoming to achieve the prevention.

RESUMEN Introducción: El cáncer colorrectal constituye causa de muerte en la población mundial. El objetivo del trabajo es exponer los resultados del proyecto de investigación Intervención psicosocial para la prevención, manejo y tratamiento del cáncer colorrectal en Camagüey. Método: El estudio es del tipo Investigación+Desarrollo. Se gestionó en el Centro de Desarrollo de las Ciencias Sociales y Humanísticas en Salud, de la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Camagüey y desde la Consulta provincial de atención a los pacientes con cáncer colorrectal se extendió al nivel primario, entre abril de 2020 y abril de 2023. La muestra constituida por 50 pacientes diagnosticados en la consulta provincial de Coloproctología del Hospital Universitario Manuel Ascunce Domenech y sus familiares y 60 integrantes del Grupo Básico de Trabajo del Policlínico Docente José Martí Pérez. Resultados: Contribuyó al conocimiento del modo en que incide el cáncer colorrectal en la población de la provincia y sobre las relaciones entre las atenciones primaria y secundaria. Se implementaron acciones con enfoque psicosocial, se establecieron relaciones interinstitucionales entre las entidades participantes. Se elevó la cultura del paciente y sus familiares y la formación posgraduada de profesionales. La investigación generó el sistema de estrategias. Discusión: Se constató la correspondencia de los resultados con los de investigadores del mundo y de Cuba, en lo cual destaca el trabajo con la comunidad y la superación profesional para lograr la prevención.

Resumen Se ha demostrado que los tratamientos con Ca2+ y Si2+ confieren resistencia al estrés biótico y abiótico en muchas frutas. En cerezas dulces, el Ca2+ mejora la extensión de la vida útil durante el almacenamiento, pero solo se ha utilizado CaCl2. Por otro lado, existe escasa información sobre el CaCO3 como fuente de Ca2+, que ha mostrado un aumento de la firmeza en bayas. En este estudio, se evaluaron diferentes tratamientos a base de Ca2+ (CaCl2 y CaCO3) + Si2+ (SiO2) solos y combinados por inmersión en hidro-enfriamiento (0°C) sobre características fisicoquímicas en cerezas dulces ʹBingʹ (Prunus avium L.) durante el almacenamiento a baja temperatura (4°C). Los resultados demuestran que los tratamientos solos o combinados (Ca2+ y Si2+) en hidro-enfriamiento afectaron significativamente al color de la piel y pulpa de las cerezas dulces. Se aumentó la cromaticidad (C*) en los frutos tratados, indicando un color rojo intenso, especialmente en aquellas cerezas tratadas con CaCl2. Además, la firmeza aumentó durante el almacenamiento en los tratamientos con Ca2+, mientras que el tratamiento con SiO2 incrementó la acumulación de sólidos solubles totales (SST). Por lo tanto, los tratamientos combinados de Ca2+ y Si2+ con hidro-enfriamiento podrían ser una estrategia poscosecha prometedora para mantener las características fisi coquímicas deseables en cerezas dulces durante el almacenamiento a baja temperatura.

Abstract Ca2+ and Si2+ treatments confer resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses in many fruits. In sweet cherries, Ca2+ improves shelf life extension during storage, but only CaCl2 is used. On the other hand, there is scarce information on CaCO3 as a source of Ca2+, which has shown increased firmness in berries. This study evaluated different treatments based on Ca2+ (CaCl2 and CaCO3) + Si2+ (SiO2) alone and combined with immersion in hydro-cooling (0°C) on physicochemical characteristics of ʹBingʹ sweet cherries (Prunus avium L.) during storage at low temperature (4°C). Results demonstrate that alone or combined treatments (Ca2+ and Si2+) with hydro-cooling significantly affected skin and flesh color of sweet cherries. Chromaticity (C*) was increased in treated fruits, indicating an intense red color, especially in those cherries treated with CaCl2. Furthermore, firmness was increased during storage in treatments with Ca2+, while SiO2 treatment increased total soluble solids (TSS). Therefore, combined treatments of Ca2+ and Si2+ with hydro-cooling might be a promising postharvest strategy to maintain desirable physicochemical characteristics in sweet cherries during low-temperature storage.

Resumen: Se comentan el contenido y los alcances del libro Muerte y ritos funerarios en el islam. Estudio sobre las creencias religiosas y las prácticas sociales, de Manuel Enrique López Brenes y Roberto Marín Guzmán, publicado en 2021. Además, a partir de otras referencias sobre el tema, se critica la obra en alusión al islam clásico y contemporáneo, a los movimientos populares en el Egipto contemporáneo (2011-2014) y a aspectos relacionados con la muerte procedentes del Egipto antiguo.

Abstract Distichlis spicata is a gramineous halophyte species that grow around the coastal areas. The objective of the study was to identify the modifications in the anatomical structure of stomates of the D. spicata leaf epidermis, cultivated with irrigation and without irrigation conditions. Two populations were selected, 1) plants of D. spicata with irrigation and 2) plants of D. spicata without irrigation. Ten plants per replication were selected from each population, and from each selected plant, the fourth leaf was taken. Each leaf was cut longitudinally into four segments which were dried and analyzed using an Electronic Scanning Microscope. The variables measured were the stomatal density, length, and width of stomates and pores, the stomatal area, the proportion of the pore area concerning the size of the stomata, and the stomata proportion per surface. The results showed that D. spicata populations with irrigation and without irrigation showed anatomical modifications in the structure of stomates in the adaxial epidermis but not in the abaxial epidermis. In the adaxial epidermis, the plants with irrigation showed higher values of stoma length, stoma width, stoma area and pore length, while plants without irrigation showed higher values of proportion pore/stoma and stomatal density. The D. spicata plants without irrigation showed small stomates than plants with irrigation, also, the plants without irrigation, increased the accumulation of salt crystals in the abaxial epidermis.

Resumen Distichlis spicata es una especie de gramínea halófita que crece en las zonas costeras. El objetivo del estudio fue identificar las modificaciones en la estructura anatómica de estomas de la epidermis foliar de D. spicata, cultivadas con riego y sin riego. Se seleccionaron dos poblaciones, 1) plantas de D. spicata con riego y 2) plantas de D. spicata sin riego. De cada población se seleccionaron 10 plantas por repetición y de cada planta seleccionada se tomó la cuarta hoja. Cada hoja se cortó longitudinalmente en cuatro segmentos que se secaron y analizaron utilizando un microscopio electrónico de barrido. Las variables medidas fueron la densidad estomática, largo y ancho de estomas y poros, el área estomática, la proporción del área de poros con respecto al tamaño de los estomas y la proporción de estomas por superficie. Los resultados mostraron que la población de D. spicata con riego y sin riego mostraron modificaciones anatómicas en la estructura de los estomas en la epidermis adaxial pero no en la epidermis abaxial. En la epidermis adaxial, las plantas con riego presentaron valores más altos de longitud de estoma, ancho de estoma, área de estoma y longitud de poro, mientras que las plantas sin riego mostraron valores más altos de proporción poro/estoma y densidad estomática. Las plantas de D. spicata sin riego presentaron estomas más pequeños respecto a las plantas con riego; además, las plantas sin riego incrementaron la acumulación de cristales de sal en la epidermis abaxial.

Abstract Mexico has great traditional knowledge of the use of medicinal plants, threatened by globalization and the standardization of educational systems. In Aguascalientes, the semiarid areas of the east are little studied on the ethnobotanical topic. The objective was to evaluate and update ethnobotanical knowledge of eastern Aguascalientes. Interviews, field trips, and collections of the mentioned medicinal plants were carried out. The Knowledge Wealth Index (KWI) and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were calculated by the age and sex of the interviewees. 52 medicinal species were identified, with main uses in the treatment of digestive, respiratory, renal, and traumatic diseases. Low KWI was obtained with a mean of 0.13 (limited knowledge), and without significant differences in knowledge between men and women, and age. The importance of documenting and preserving traditional knowledge and the use of medicinal plants in eastern Aguascalientes is highlighted.

Resumen México posee gran conocimiento tradicional en el uso de plantas medicinales, amenazado por la globalización y la estandarización de los sistemas educativos. En Aguascalientes, la región semiárida del oriente es un área poco estudiada en el ámbito etnoflorístico. El objetivo fue evaluar y actualizar el conocimiento etnoflorístico del oriente de Aguascalientes. Se hicieron entrevistas, recorridos en campo y colectas de las plantas medicinales mencionadas. Se calculó el índice de riqueza de conocimiento (IRC) y análisis de varianza (ANOVA) por edad y sexo de los entrevistados. Se identificaron 52 especies medicinales, con usos principales en el tratamiento de enfermedades digestivas, respiratorias, renales, y traumatismos. Se obtuvo bajo IRC con media de 0.13 (conocimiento limitado), y sin diferencias significativas en el conocimiento entre hombres y mujeres, ni por edad. Se destaca la importancia de documentar y preservar el conocimiento tradicional y el uso de plantas medicinales en el oriente de Aguascalientes.

Abstract Considering that currently in Mexico there is a trend toward greater consumption of natural products that benefit health and that, in the long term, do not produce adverse effects, the objective of this research is to evaluate if the main extracts and by-products derived from the roselle flower can be considered strategic, based on its properties, impact on health, value chain and that Mexico is one of the 10 main producers worldwide. For this, the following method was used: a) research on the roselle flower and its benefits to humans were compiled and analyzed; b) the information was analyzed with the Delphi tool; c) a dendrogram was developed to categorize the relevance in its use, and, d) the value chain of the processes that make up its supply chain was analyzed to determine its conditions and potential. The results show that it does not present toxic or mutagenic activity and that it has a great impact in 3 aspects: alternative medicine, as a disinfectant and food supplement. It was found that its value chain is incipient, but with potential in: planting regions, research centers and links with the industrial sector for its use, marketing and sales coverage.

Resumen Actualmente, en México existe la tendencia hacia un mayor consumo de productos naturales que beneficien la salud y a largo plazo no produzcan efectos negativos, por lo cual, el objetivo de esta investigación es evaluar si los principales extractos y subproductos de la flor de jamaica se pueden considerar estratégicos, en función de sus propiedades, impacto en la salud, cadena de valor, pues México es uno de los 10 principales productores a nivel mundial. Para esto, se utilizó el siguiente método: a) se recopilaron y analizaron investigaciones sobre la flor de jamaica y beneficios al ser humano; b) se analizó la información con la herramienta Delphi; c) se desarrolló un dendrograma para categorizar la relevancia en su uso, y, d) se determinaron las condiciones y potencial de la cadena de valor de los procesos que integran su cadena de suministro. Los resultados muestran que no presenta actividad tóxica o mutagénica y que tiene un gran impacto en 3 vertientes: medicina alternativa, como desinfectante y complemento alimenticio. Se encontró que su cadena de valor es incipiente, pero con potencial en: regiones de siembra, centros de investigación y vinculación con el sector industrial para su aprovechamiento, cobertura de comercialización y venta.

RESUMEN Introducción: La presencia del miedo a una enfermedad infecciosa desencadena factores psicológicos asociados con el control conductual percibido sobre la aceptación de la vacunación, normas subjetivas de aceptación de la vacunación, actitudes hacia la aceptación de la vacunación y la percepción de la infectividad de la enfermedad. Objetivo: El estudio evaluó cómo los síntomas del miedo a la viruela del mono se relacionan específicamente con la intención de ser vacunado contra la viruela del mono en una muestra de 506 individuos peruanos con una edad promedio de 27,11 años (DE = 9,77). Métodos: Los participantes respondieron a la Escala de Miedo a la Viruela del Mono (MFS) y a un solo ítem de Intención de ser vacunado contra la viruela del mono. Utilizando análisis de redes, se identificaron los síntomas centrales del miedo y las asociaciones entre los síntomas y la intención de vacunarse. Resultados: Los resultados sugieren que el nodo con mayor centralidad fue el ítem 5 de la MFS. En cuanto a la conexión entre la intención de ser vacunado y los ítems de la MFS, se observó una relación directa con el ítem 1 y una relación inversa con el ítem 6. Además, la relación entre estos ítems de la MFS y la intención de vacunarse es mayor en hombres en comparación con mujeres. Si bien se esperaría que una mayor presencia de síntomas de miedo a la viruela del mono llevara a las personas a tener una mayor intención de ser vacunadas contra la enfermedad, los resultados podrían llevar a otros investigadores a generar evidencia para explicar esta relación en otros países de América Latina. Discusión: La evidencia es útil para desarrollar políticas que favorezcan la vacunación contra la viruela del mono en Perú y otros países de América Latina.

ABSTRACT Introduction: The presence of fear of an infectious disease triggers psychological factors associated with perceived behavioral control over vaccination acceptance, subjective norms of vaccination acceptance, attitudes toward vaccination acceptance, and perceived infectiousness from disease. Objective: The study evaluated how symptoms of fear of Monkeypox specifically relate to intention to be vaccinated against Monkeypox in a sample of 506 Peruvian individuals with a mean age of 27.11 years (SD = 9.77). Methods: Participants responded to the Monkeypox Fear Scale (MFS) and a single item of Intention to be vaccinated against Monkeypox. Using network analysis, central fear symptoms and associations between symptoms and intention to vaccinate were identified. Results: The results suggest that the node with the highest centrality was item 5 of the MFS. Regarding the connection between the intention to be vaccinated and the MFS items, a direct relationship was observed with item 1 and an inverse relationship with item 6. In addition, the relationship between these MFS items and intention to vaccinate is higher in men compared to women. While it would be expected that a greater presence of symptoms of fear of Monkeypox could lead people to have a greater intention to be vaccinated against the disease, the results could lead other researchers to generate evidence to explain this relationship in other Latin American countries. Discussion: The evidence is useful for developing policies that favor vaccination against Monkeypox in Peru and other Latin American countries.

ABSTRACT An eight-week feeding trial investigated the effects of fishmeal (FM) replacement by soybean meal (SBM) and poultry by-product meal (PBM) in diets supplemented with two methionine sources (DL-Met and AQUAVI®) and their combinations with ECOBIOL® (Bacillus amyloliquefaciens CECT 5940) on growth performance, body composition, and nutrient metabolism of Penaeus vannamei. Four hundred shrimp (0.30 ± 0.04 g) randomly distributed into 20 tanks (20 shrimp tank-1) were fed with five experimental diets (four repetitions per diet). A control diet (CD; 20% FM) and four diets with 50% FM replacement supplemented with different methionine sources and ECOBIOL® combinations: D1 (0.13% DL-MET), D2 (0.06% AQUAVI®), D3 (0.13% DL-MET plus 0.10% ECOBIOL®), and D4 (0.06% AQUAVI® plus 0.10% ECOBIOL®). Shrimp fed D2 and D4 had better growth performance, nutrient utilization, and body composition. Shrimp fed D3 also had good growth performance but higher lipid body composition. Shrimp fed D1 had the worst growth performance, nutrient utilization, and body composition values. Nutrient metabolism-related genes were affected by dietary treatments. Protein synthesis-related genes decreased mostly in shrimp fed D1 and D2 while increased mostly in shrimp fed D3 and D4, lipolysis-related genes had a better transcriptional response in shrimp fed D4 and lipogenesis-related genes were mostly downregulated in shrimp fed D2 while were mostly upregulated in shrimp fed D3 and D4. Results suggested that FM could be partially replaced with SBM and PBM in shrimp feeds supplemented with 0.06% AQUAVI® alone or combined with 0.10% ECOBIOL® without adversely affecting the growth and nutrient metabolism of P. vannamei.
