RESUMEN Theobroma cacao (cacao) en República Dominicana es uno de los principales rubros de exportación, registrando un crecimiento sostenido en los últimos cinco años. Son más de 36.000 productores en el país, beneficiando indirectamente a más de 300 mil personas. El país tiene un gran potencial para la producción de cacao, pero debido a la falta de fertilización de las plantaciones combinado con la falta de información sobre el aporte de nutrientes provenientes de la mineralización de biomasa en los sistemas de producción, se presentan bajos rendimientos. El estudio se desarrolló en la provincia Duarte en el período de julio 2016 a junio 2017, con el objetivo de cuantificar la producción de biomasa en cuatros sistemas agroforestales: cacao en monocultivo (C), cacao más Erythrina spp. (C+ Am), cacao más Persea americana (C+Ag), y cacaos más cítricos (C+Ci). Se usó un diseño experimental en arreglo multifactorial 4x15x12: con cuatro sistemas agroforestales, en quince localidades y doce fechas de muestreo, donde se consideró a cada finca como una repetición. Se instalaron cuatro trampas de tubo y maya de saco por finca, con un área de 1 m2. La biomasa promedio por ubicación y fecha se analizó mediante análisis de varianza y prueba de Duncan (P=0,05 %). La mayor producción promedio de biomasa se obtuvo en C+Am con 49,3 T ha-1año-1 (41,08 % del total). Le siguió el sistema C con 27,02 T ha-1año-1, C+Ag con 22,2 T ha-1año-1 y C+Ci con 17,2 T ha-1año-1. La producción neta anual fue de 120 T ha-1año-1, siendo 115,2 T ha-1año-1 atribuible a la especie en estudio, y 4,2 T ha-1año-1 a otras especies. Los valores demuestran una alta producción de biomasa en los sistemas agroforestales asociados al cacao.

São mais de 36 mil produtores no país, beneficiando indiretamente mais de 300 mil pessoas. O país tem grande potencial para a produção de cacau, mas devido à falta de fertilização das plantações aliada à falta de informações sobre a contribuição dos nutrientes provenientes da mineralização da biomassa nos sistemas de produção, ocorrem baixos rendimentos. O estudo foi desenvolvido na província Duarte no período de julho de 2016 a junho de 2017, com o objetivo de quantificar a produção de biomassa em quatro sistemas agroflorestais: cacau em monocultura (C), cacau mais papoula (Erythrina spp. Walp.) (C+ Am ), cacau mais abacate (Persea Americana Mill.) (C+Ag) e cacau mais cítricos (C+Ci). Foi utilizado um delineamento experimental em arranjo multifatorial 4x15x12: com quatro sistemas agroflorestais, em quinze localidades e doze datas de amostragem, onde cada fazenda foi considerada uma repetição. Foram instaladas quatro armadilhas com tubo de PVC e tela de saco por fazenda, com área de 1 m2. A biomassa média por local e data foi analisada por análise de variância e teste de Duncan (p=0,05 %). A maior produção média de biomassa foi obtida em C+Am com 49,3 T/ha/ano (41,08 % do total). Seguiu-se o sistema C com 27,02 T/ha/ano, C+Ag com 22,2 T/ha/ano e C+Ci com 17,2 T/ha/ano. A produção líquida anual foi de 120 T/ha/ano, sendo 115,2 T/ha/ano atribuíveis às espécies em estudo e 4,2 T/ha/ano às demais espécies. Os valores demonstram uma elevada produção de biomassa nos sistemas agroflorestais associados ao cacau.

ABSTRACT Theobroma cacao (cocoa) in the Dominican Republic is one of the main export items, registering a sustained growth in the last five years. There are more than 36,000 producers in the country, indirectly benefiting more than 300 thousand people. The country has great potential for cocoa production, but due to the lack of fertilization of the plantations combined with the lack of information on the contribution of nutrients from the mineralization of biomass in the production systems, low yields are presented. The study was carried out in the Duarte province in the period from July 2016 to June 2017, with the objective of quantifying the biomass production in four agroforestry systems: cocoa in monoculture (C), cocoa plus Erythrina spp (C+ Am), cocoa plus Persea americana (C+Ag ), and cocoa plus citrus (C+Ci). Four pipe and sack mesh traps were installed per farm, with an area of 1 m2. The average biomass by location and date was analyzed by analysis of variance and Duncan test (P = 0.05 %). The highest average biomass production was obtained in C + Am with 49.3 T ha-1 year-1 (41.08% of the total). It was followed by system C with 27.02 T ha-1 year-1, C + Ag with 22.2 T ha-1 year-1 and C + Ci with 17.2 T ha-1 year-1. The annual net production was 120 T ha-1 year-1, of which 115.2 T ha-1 year-1 was attributable to the species under study, and 4.2 T ha-1 year-1 to other species. The values demonstrate a high biomass production in agroforestry systems associated with cocoa.

ABSTRACT The ovary of sexually mature females involves oogenetic process for follicular development, ovulation, and luteinization (gametogenic function), which in turn relate to stages of the estrous cycle (EC), as well as the production and biotransformation (steroidogenic function) of sexual steroid hormones (SSH) during EC, pregnancy, and lactation. Depending on their concentrations, SSH play different functions to elicit such reproductive events, but little is known about this in free-living wild species. Here we used ELISA to assess intraovarian concentrations of progesterone, androstenedione, testosterone, and estradiol, during EC, pregnancy, and lactation in wild adult females of Peromyscus melanotis J.A. Allen & Chapman, 1897 and Peromyscus difficilis (J.A. Allen, 1891), immediately after their capture. Results of intraspecific ANOVA showed statistical differences between concentrations of different SSH in the same reproductive stage or event and between the stages or events for each SSH, according to the steroidogenic Δ 4 pathway. Although ANOVA analyses showed no interspecific differences of the same SSH in the same event, except for more testosterone in P. melanotis during heat, profiles of production curves suggest intraspecific peculiarities and interspecific differences that need to be further investigated. RESUMEN Introducción: La neumonía constituye una de las consecuencias negativas más frecuentes de la COVID-19. Existe una estrecha relación, poco estudiada en Cuba, entre sus complicaciones y determinados biomarcadores. En Villa Clara no existían investigaciones previas al respecto. El presente estudio se propone aportar conocimientos en este sentido. Objetivo: Determinar los niveles de antitrombina III en pacientes con neumonía por COVID-19, ingresados en la Sala de Terapia Intensiva del Hospital Universitario Clínico-Quirúrgico «Arnaldo Milián Castro». Métodos: Se realizó un estudio transversal, entre marzo del 2021-diciembre del 2022, a 156 pacientes de ambos sexos, con 20 años y más; conformaron la muestra 52. Se utilizó un muestreo intencional no probabilístico con consentimiento informado. Se obtuvo la siguiente información: edad, sexo, fecha de diagnóstico de la neumonía, antecedentes de salud y factores de riesgo (hábitos tóxicos). Entre los exámenes realizados estuvieron la antitrombina III, proteína C reactiva, ferritina y dímero-D. Resultados: Predominó el rango de edad entre 60-79 años (57,69 %) y el sexo masculino (61,53 %). El 94,23 % de los pacientes presentó como antecedentes de salud y factores de riesgo (hipertensión arterial, diabetes mellitus, tabaquismo y alcoholismo). Los valores de antitrombina III fueron normales bajos en el 65,38 %; un 13,4 % mostró valores patológicos. Conclusiones: Más de la mitad de los resultados de antitrombina III se mostraron dentro de valores normales bajos. La proteína C reactiva, la ferritina y el dímero D mostraron valores patológicos en la mayoría de los enfermos.

ABSTRAC Introduction: pneumonia is one of the most common negative consequences of COVID-19. There is a close relationship between its complications and certain biomarkers, which has been little studied in Cuba. There were no previous investigations in this regard in Villa Clara. The present study aims to provide knowledge in this sense. Objective: to determine the levels of antithrombin III in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia who were admitted to the intensive care room at “Arnaldo Milián Castro” Clinical and Surgical University Hospital. Methods: a cross-sectional study on 156 male and female patients aged 20 years and older was carried out between March 2021 and December 2022; 52 of them made up the sample. Non-probabilistic intentional sampling with informed consent was used. Age, gender, date of pneumonia diagnosis, health history and risk factors (toxic habits) were the obtained information. Antithrombin III, C-reactive protein, ferritin and D-dimer were among the performed tests. Results: the age range between 60-79 years (57.69%) and male gender (61.53%) predominated. The 94.23% of the patients had as a health history and risk factors (high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, smoking and alcoholism). Antithrombin III values were low normal in 65.38%; the 13.4% showed pathological values. Conclusions: more than half of the antithrombin III results were within low normal values. C-reactive protein, ferritin and D-dimer showed pathological values in most of the patients.

Resumen Objetivo: Evaluar un dispositivo automatizado para la asistencia ventilatoria basado en un AMBU manufacturado en Marzo del 2020. Métodos: El ESSI-1 INC fue evaluado por medio de parámetros fisiológicos y mecánica pulmonar a través de pruebas de espirómetro compensatorios (TISSOT); pulmón artificial (Modelo 5600i Dual Adult PNEU VIEW SYSTEM); así como su desempeño comparado a la máquina de anestesia (AEONMED 7500) en modelos porcinos, midiendo criterios ventilatorios, hemodinámicos y gasométricos. Resultados: Este equipo (ESSI-1 INC) fue exitosamente probado por modelos mecánicos y biológicos, tales como cerdos donde su desempeño fue evaluado en términos de la variabilidad del volumen tidal, frecuencia ventilatoria, y relación I/E versus el desempeño manual de dos médicos. Todos los resultados finalizaron como se esperaba de forma satisfactoria. Conclusiones: Es un equipo seguro y efectivo, el cual debería ser probado y usado en distintas condiciones clínicas para estandarizar la seguridad ventilatoria y cuidado de pacientes que lo requieran.

Abstract Objective: The objectives of this study were to evaluate an automated device for ventilatory support based on AMBU manufactured in March 2020. Methods: The ESSI-1 INC was evaluated through pulmonary mechanics and physiology parameters through compensatory spirometer tests (TISSOTs), and an artificial lung Model5600i Dual Adult PNEU VIEW SYSTEM; it was also compared to the anesthetic ventilatory support equipment (AEONMED 7500) in porcine models, measuring ventilatory, hemodynamic and gasometric parameters. Results: This equipment (ESSI-1 INC) was successfully tested by mechanical and biological models, such as pigs in which its performance was evaluated in terms of variability of tidal volume, ventilation frequency, and I/E relationship versus the manual performance of two medical interns. All the results turned out as expected and were satisfactory. Conclusions: It is safe and effective equipment and should be tested and used in diverse clinical conditions to standardize the ventilatory safety and care of patients who require it.

Resumen: El uso de tableros multicelulares de Polímero Reforzado con Fibra de Vidrio (GFRP por sus siglas en inglés) en la rehabilitación y construcción de puentes ha aumentado en los últimos 30 años por varios motivos, como: el bajo costo de mantenimiento, rápida instalación, resistencia a la corrosión, y alta relación resistencia-peso. Debido a la naturaleza ortotrópa de los tableros de GFRP y la compleja geometría de su sección transversal, el análisis dinámico de puentes que incluyan este tipo de elementos puede representar un problema computacional costoso. Por lo tanto, este artículo estudia la respuesta dinámica de un puente carretero de GFRP-acero cuando se modela el tablero multicelular de GFRP como una placa ortótropa. Para ello, se desarrolla un modelo de elementos finitos del puente híbrido, y se realiza un análisis de sensibilidad para investigar la influencia de las propiedades mecánicas del elemento ortótropo en el comportamiento del puente. La rugosidad del pavimento, el grado de acción compuesta entre el tablero y los largueros, el modelo dinámico multicuerpo de un camión, y la interacción vehículo-puente se tienen en cuenta en el análisis. Los resultados indican que las propiedades más relevantes de la placa ortótropa en la respuesta de la estructura son el módulo de elasticidad en la dirección longitudinal, el módulo de elasticidad en la dirección transversal, y el módulo de cortante. De igual manera, se determina que lograr una acción compuesta total y evitar el deterioro de la vía son aspectos importantes para reducir la respuesta del puente híbrido.

Abstract: The use of multicellular Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) deck panels in the rehabilitation and construction of bridges has increased over the last 30 years due to several benefits, such as: low maintenance cost, fast installation, corrosion resistance, and high strength-to-weight ratio. Due to the orthotropic nature of GFRP decks and their complex cross-section geometry, expensive computational problems may be obtained when bridges that include these elements are analyzed under traffic loads. Therefore, this paper studies the dynamic response of a GFRP-steel road bridge modelling the multicellular GFRP deck as an orthotropic plate. For this purpose, a finite element model of the hybrid structure is developed, and a sensitivity analysis is carried out to investigate the influence of the mechanical properties of the orthotropic element on the bridge behavior. The roughness of the pavement, the degree of composite action between the deck and the stringers, the multibody dynamic model of a truck, and the vehicle-bridge interaction phenomenon are included in the analyses. Results indicate that the most relevant properties of the orthotropic plate on the response of the structure are the modulus of elasticity in the longitudinal direction, the modulus of elasticity in the transverse direction, and the shear modulus. Also, achieving a full composite action and avoiding deterioration of road are identified as key aspects to reduce the vibration levels on the hybrid bridge.

Resumen Algunas especies del género Trichoderma poseen la capacidad de parasitar hongos patógenos de plantas. Esta característica propicia un alto potencial de uso en el control de las enfermedades (antracnosis) causadas por hongos en el fruto de aguacate postcosecha. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de esta investigación fue el aislamiento e identificación de cepas nativas de Trichoderma de cultivos de aguacate con potencial antagonista in vivo e in vitro contra patógenos de este fruto. Las cepas fueron aisladas de raíz y suelo del huerto de aguacate en la localidad de Tanaxuri, Michoacán. Se obtuvieron seis cepas y se caracterizaron como TSONM1 (Trichoderma spp.), TRONM2 (Trichoderma spp.), TSONM3 (Trichoderma spp.), TSONM4 (Trichoderma spp.), TSONM5 (Trichoderma spp.) y TSONM6 (Trichoderma harzianum). Posteriormente, las cepas aisladas fueron confrontadas con Neofusicoccum parvum, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, Diaporthe sp. y Phomopsis perseae observándose inhibiciones in vitro mayores al 80 %. Mientras que en la evaluación in vivo, la cepa TSONM6 (Trichoderma harzianum) presentó mayor actividad antagónica contra C. gloeosporioides, Diaporthe sp. y P. persea. Adicionalmente, los frutos de aguacate tratados con TSONM6, presentaron mínimos porcentajes (< 2 %) de pudrición de la pulpa y pedúnculo. Por lo tanto, Thichoderma harzianun podría ser una buena alternativa para el control biológico del aguacate en postcosecha.

Abstract Some species of the genus Trichoderma have the ability to parasitize fungal plant pathogens. This characteristic provides a high potential for use in the control of diseases (anthracnose) caused by fungi in post-harvest avocado fruit. Therefore, the objective of this research was the isolation and identification of native Trichoderma strains from avocado cultures with antagonistic potential in vivo and in vitro against pathogens of this fruit. The strains were isolated from the root and soil of the avocado in the town of Tanaxuri, Michoacán. Six strains were obtained and characterized as TSONM1 (Trichoderma spp.), TRONM2 (Trichoderma spp.), TSONM3 (Trichoderma spp.), TSONM4 (Trichoderma spp.), TSONM5 (Trichoderma spp.) and TSONM6 (Trichoderma harzianum). Subsequently, the isolated strains were confronted with Neofusicoccum parvum, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, Diaporthe sp. and Phomopsis perseae, observing in vitro inhibitions greater than 80 %. In the in vivo evaluation, the TSONM6 strain (Trichoderma harzianum) showed greater antagonistic activity against C. gloeosporioides, Diaporthe sp. and P. persea. Additionally, the avocado fruits treated with TSONM6, presented minimum percentages (< 2 %) of pulp and peduncle rotting. Therefore, Thichoderma harzianun could be a good alternative for postharvest biological control of avocado.

Introducción. Desde hace unos años, tanto en grupos grandes como pequeños, y principalmente en clases en línea, se ha puesto en práctica la metodología 'SLIDE-4-U' o 'una diapositiva para ti' (2020PID-UB/023), con el objetivo de implicar al estudiante en su propio proceso de aprendizaje y en el de sus compañeros. Se consiguió mediante la participación del alumnado en la explicación en clase de diapositivas específicamente diseñadas para este fin. métodos. La experiencia se llevó a cabo en el primer semestre del curso 2021-22 en la asignatura Nutrición Molecular del grado de Nutrición Humana y Dietética (Universitat de Barcelona). Se preparó una sesión de seminario presencial centrada en inmunonutrición. El profesor dirigió la sesión seleccionando de forma aleatoria al estudiante, que debía explicar la diapositiva sin preparación previa. Las explicaciones del alumnado fueron complementadas o corregidas por el profesor durante el desarrollo de la actividad. Al final del seminario se realizó una encuesta de opinión en la que se constató la buena aceptación de esta iniciativa (puntuaciones medias superiores a 4,2 sobre 5). Resultados. El alumnado consideró que era un reto explicar una diapositiva sin prepararla previamente y que este hecho, asociado a no saber quién haría la explicación, había provocado un cierto clima de nerviosismo. Ahora bien, la mayoría estaba de acuerdo en que los esquemas/imágenes aportados fueron suficientes para poder desarrollar la actividad y que las explicaciones hechas por los compañeros eran suficientemente correctas. Asimismo, también valoraban positivamente la participación del profesor a la hora de completar las explicaciones de sus compañeros. En general, la metodología utilizada hizo que el alumnado fuera más consciente de que las diapositivas tienen una estructura y un objetivo, y de la dificultad de comunicar correctamente. Conclusiones. La aplicación de esta metodología en el aula (seminario/clase) fomenta la implicación activa del estudiante en el proceso de aprendizaje tanto a nivel individual como colectivo.

Introduction. Lately, both in large and small groups and mainly in online classes, the 'SLIDE-4-U' or 'one slide for you' methodology (2020PID-UB/023) has been put into practice, with the aim of involving the student in their own learning process and that of their classmates. It is achieved through the participation of the students in the explanation of slides in class, specially designed for this purpose. Methods. The experience was carried out in the first semester of the 2021-22 academic year in the subject Molecular Nutrition of the Human Nutrition and Dietetics degree (Universitat de Barcelona). A face-to-face seminar session focused on immunonutrition was prepared with this type of material. The teacher led the session by randomly selecting the student, who had to explain the slide without prior preparation. The explanations of the students were complemented and/or corrected by the teacher, during the development of the activity. At the end of the seminar, an opinion survey was carried out in which the good acceptance of this initiative was verified (average scores higher than 4.2 out of 5). Results. The students considered that it was a challenge to explain a slide without previously preparing it, and that this fact, associated with not knowing who would do the explanation, had caused a certain climate of nervousness. However, the majority agreed that the diagrams/images provided were sufficient to be able to carry out the activity and that the explanations made by the classmates were correct enough. Likewise, they also positively valued the teacher's participation when completing the explanations of their classmates. In general, the methodology used made the students more aware that the slides have a structure and an objective, and of the difficulty of communicating correctly. Conclusions. The application of this methodology in the classroom (seminar/class) encourages the active involvement of the student in the learning process, both individually and collectively.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Maytenus macrocarpa (MM) "Chuchuhuasi" is a native plant from the Amazon region of South America, widely used in traditional medicine due its anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-tumor properties. However, its effects on reproductive physiology and male fertility have not been elucidated. Methods: Preclinical experimental study of cases and controls. Male mice with eight weeks from birth were administered orally for 70 days (two spermatogenic cycles) an aqueous extract MM: GC (n = 8) 0 mg / kg body weight (bw) control group and treated group GT (n = 8) 1000 mg / kg bw. Later the animals were euthanized, the reproductive organs were weighted, also motility and sperm count were recorded. During the days 60 or 65 of treatment, males were mated and pregnant females were sacrificed in the fourth day of pregnancy for evaluating development, quality and degree of blastulation. Results: The weights of reproductive organs did not differ significantly between the two groups (p> 0.05). However, progressive motility (32.81 vs. 15.27 ± 4.17% ± 2.08%) and sperm count (7.75 ± 0.34 x 106 / ml vs. 2.56 ± 0.42 x 106 / ml) decreased significantly between GC and GT, respectively. 87.5% (7/8) of the pregnant mice produced 15 litters (GC) and only 50% (4/8) of the pregnant GT yields 4 litters. However, no significant differences were found in the percentage of blastocyst stage embryos, good quality embryos, or embryos with greater than 50% the size of the embryo between the two groups (p> 0.05) blastoceles. Conclusion: the aqueous extract of Maytenus macrocarpa (1000 mg/kl) could have possesses anti-reproductive action in male mice.

RESUMEN Introduccion: Maytenus macrocarpa (MM) "Chuchuhuasi", es una planta nativa de la región Amazónica de Sudamérica ampliamente usada en la medicina tradicional por sus propiedades antiinflamatoria, analgésica y antitumoral. Sin embargo, sus efectos sobre la fisiología reproductiva y la fertilidad masculina aún no han sido elucidados. Metodos: Estudio experimental preclinico de caso y controles. A ratones machos de ocho semanas se les administró oralmente por 70 días (dos ciclos espermatogénicos) el extracto acuoso de MM: grupo control GC (n=8) 0 mg/kg peso corporal (pc) y al grupo tratado GT (n=8) 1000 mg/kg pc. Posteriormente los animales fueron eutanizados, se registraron el peso de los órganos reproductivos, la movilidad y concentración espermática. Durante los días 60 a 65 del tratamiento los machos se aparearon y las hembras preñadas se sacrificaron al cuarto de día de preñez para la evaluación del desarrollo, calidad y grado de blastulación de los embriones. Resultados: Los pesos de los órganos reproductivos no variaron significativamente entre ambos grupos (p>0.05). Sin embargo, la movilidad progresiva (32,81 ± 4,17 % vs. 15,27 % ± 2,08) y concentración espermática (7,75 ± 0,34 x 106/ml vs. 2,56 ± 0,42 x 106/ml) disminuyeron significativamente entre GC y GT, respectivamente. El 87,5% (7/8) de ratones del GC preñaron produciendo 15 camadas y del GT sólo el 50% (4/8) preñaron produciendo 4 camadas. Sin embargo, no se encontraron diferencias significativas en el porcentaje de embriones en estadío de blastocisto, embriones de buena calidad, ni en embriones con blastocele mayor al 50% del tamaño del embrión entre ambos grupos (p>0.05). Conclusión: el extracto acuoso de Maytenus macrocarpa (1000 mg/kl) podría poseer acciónes anti-reproductiva en ratones machos.

Abstract Objective: To assess the coverage rates of Influenza vaccination in pregnant women, to identify the reasons for non-immunization and to compare with the Bordetella pertussis vaccination rate in pregnancy. Methods: Observational prospective study performed between January and February of 2020. In the postnatal ward, a self-administered questionnaire about flu vaccination and the reasons for non-vaccination was delivered. Chi squared and Fisher’s exact tests were performed. Results: In the postnatal ward 117 women answered the questionnaires - 49% were vaccinated against influenza. The main cause for the non-vaccination was the lack of recommendation (61%), followed by the fear of adverse effects (20%). Vaccination during pregnancy was more frequent when the antenatal care was provided at public hospital versus primary care or private care (respectively 68%, 31% e 47%, p=0.023), when the pertussis vaccine was performed (96% vs 79%, p=0.005) and when women had adequate information on flu severity in pregnancy and to the neonate (65% vs 41%, p=0.013) and knew the potential benefits of influenza vaccination during pregnancy in preventing flu in the first months of life of the neonate (76% vs 29%, p<0.001). Conclusion: In our population, the reduced vaccination coverage (49%) was essentially linked to lack of recommendation about influenza vaccination during pregnancy by healthcare providers.

Resumo Objetivo: Avaliar a taxa de cobertura vacinal da gripe na gravidez, as razões para a não vacinação e comparar com a taxa de vacinação contra a Bordetella pertussis nas grávidas. Métodos: Estudo observacional prospetivo que decorreu entre janeiro e fevereiro de 2020. No internamento de puerpério, foi aplicado um inquérito de autopreenchimento sobre a vacinação contra a gripe, incluindo os motivos da não vacinação. Aplicaram-se os testes Qui-quadrado ou o teste exato de Fisher. Resultados: No internamento de puerpério obtivemos 117 respostas aos inquéritos - 49% referiram estar vacinadas contra a gripe. O principal motivo para a não vacinação foi a ausência de recomendação (61%), seguido do receio de efeitos adversos (20%). A vacinação foi mais frequente em grávidas vigiadas em consulta hospitalar do SNS comparativamente com as grávidas vigiadas nos cuidados primários e no setor privado (respetivamente 68%, 31% e 47%, p=0,023), em mulheres vacinadas contra a tosse convulsa (96% vs 79%, p=0,005) e em grávidas informadas sobre a gravidade da gripe (na grávida e no recém-nascido) (65% vs 41%, p=0,013) e sobre a possibilidade da vacina prevenir a doença nos primeiros meses de vida do filho (76% vs 29%, p<0,001). Conclusão: Na nossa amostra, a baixa cobertura vacinal (49%) associou-se essencialmente à falta de recomendação da vacinação contra a gripe por parte dos profissionais de saúde que acompanham a gravidez.

Abstract The municipality of Nuevo Ideal is one of the most important regions for apple production in the state of Durango, Mexico. There are scattered Malus domestica trees from extinct orchards that were part of a production system and that today are abandoned without agronomic management, but that have shown an efficient adaptability to the conditions and continue to produce good quality fruit. The objective of this study was to develop an in vitro propagation protocol of M. domestica using seeds of feral trees from this region. Germination and production of adventitious shoots were evaluated using Murashige & Skoog (MS) medium and woody plant medium (WPM) supplemented with phytohormones 6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP) and indole butyric acid (IBA) at different doses. For rooting, indole acetic acid (IAA), naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) and kinetin (KIN) were also used in combination with the previous ones. Germination and shoot formation obtained better results with the concentration of 0.5 mg L-1 of BAP in MS medium at 60 days. In the leaf development, the treatment with 1.5 mg L-1 of BAP in MS medium stood out, with 21.07 leaves on average. The plants of all the treatments had roots, however, the best development was shown by the treatment with 1.5 mg L-1 of NAA and 0.15 mg L-1 of BAP in WPM medium. Through the protocol generated in this research, it is possible to massively propagate the M. domestica species for purposes of germplasm conservation and subsequent exploitation of the crop.

Resumen El municipio de Nuevo Ideal es una de las regiones más importantes para la producción de manzana en el estado de Durango, México. Existen árboles dispersos de Malus domestica de huertos extintos que fueron parte de un sistema de producción y que hoy están abandonados sin manejo agronómico, pero que han mostrado una adaptabilidad eficiente a las condiciones y continúan produciendo fruto de buena calidad. El objetivo del presente estudio fue desarrollar un protocolo de propagación in vitro de M. domestica utilizando semillas de árboles asilvestrados de esta región. Se evaluó la germinación y producción de brotes adventicios usando medios de cultivo murashige & skoog (MS) y woody plant medium (WPM) complementados con fitohormonas 6-Bencilaminopurina (BAP) y ácido indol butírico (IBA) en diferentes dosis. Para el enraizamiento se utilizó también ácido indol acético (AIA), ácido naftalenacético (ANA) y kinetina (KIN) en combinación con las anteriores. La germinación y formación de brotes obtuvo mejor resultado con la concentración de 0.5 mg L-1 de BAP en el medio MS a los 60 días. En el desarrollo foliar destacó el tratamiento con 1.5 mg L-1 BAP en medio MS con 21.07 hojas en promedio. Las plantas de todos los tratamientos presentaron raíz, sin embargo, el mejor desarrollo lo presentó el tratamiento con 1.5 mg L-1 de ANA y 0.15 mg L-1 de BAP en medio WPM. Mediante el protocolo generado en esta investigación, es posible propagar masivamente la especie M. domestica con propósitos de conservación de germoplasma y posterior explotación del cultivo.

Abstract: This study aimed to identify the relationship between school adjustment and victimization in high school students; as well as check the existence of differences by gender in both variables. The sample was made up of 3,198 students, of which 1,851 were women and 1,347 were men. The variables studied were measured with the Brief Scale of School Adjustment (EBAE-10) and the Scale of Victimization in School. The results show low and negative relationships in all the tests and in most of their factors; In addition, significant differences by sex were detected, where women show better school adjustment and fewer victimization problems. It is concluded that to the extent that students face fewer victimization problems, they will achieve a better school adjustment, so it is advisable to establish actions to prevent victimization and promote an adequate school adjustment.

Resumen: El presente trabajo tuvo el objetivo de identificar la relación entre el ajuste escolar y la victimización en estudiantes de bachillerato; así como comprobar la existencia de diferencias por género en ambas variables. La muestra se conformó de 3,198 estudiantes, de los cuales 1,851 son mujeres y 1,347 hombres. Las variables estudiadas se midieron con la Escala Breve de Ajuste Escolar (EBAE-10) y la Escala de Victimización en la Escuela. Los resultados muestran relaciones bajas y de carácter negativo en el total de las pruebas y en la mayoría de sus factores; además, se detectaron diferencias significativas por sexo, donde las mujeres muestran un mejor ajuste escolar y menores problemas de victimización. Se concluye que en la medida que los estudiantes enfrenten menos problemas de victimización lograrán un mejor ajuste escolar, por lo que es recomendable el establecimiento de acciones para prevenir la victimización y fomentar un adecuado ajuste escolar.

Resumen La leucosis enzoótica bovina (LEB) es una infección económicamente importante del ganado lechero, causada por el virus de la leucemia enzoótica bovina (VLEB). El método habitual de propagación de la infección por VLEB es la transmisión horizontal, a través de la exposición directa e indirecta de animales susceptibles a los linfocitos infectados de la sangre o de la leche. Tras la infección los animales aparentan estar clínicamente sanos durante los primeros años postinfección, pero entre el 30 y 70 % de los animales pueden desarrollar linfocitosis persistente y del 0.1 a 10 % de los bovinos sufren de linfosarcoma. Esta infección se detecta mediante pruebas serológicas, generalmente por el ensayo por inmunoabsorción ligado a enzimas (ELISA). El objetivo de la presente investigación fue determinar la seroprevalencia de VLEB en hembras bovinas del municipio de Paipa (Boyacá). El estudio epidemiológico fue observacional descriptivo de corte (transversal) con muestreo aleatorio simple, en donde se recolectaron 1000 muestras de suero las cuales fueron procesadas mediante la técnica de ELISA indirecta implementando el kit comercial SERELISA® BLV Ab Mono Blocking. Se determinó una seroprevalencia de 31.1 % (311/1000) encontrando asociación estadística significativa entre la raza, la edad y la seropositividad al virus.

Abstract Enzootic Bovine Leukosis (EBL) is an economically important infection of dairy cattle, caused by the Enzootic Bovine Leukemia Virus (EBLV). The usual method of spread of EBLV infection is horizontal transmission, through direct and indirect exposure of susceptible animals to infected lymphocytes from blood or milk. After infection, animals appear to be clinically healthy during the first years after infection, but between 30 and 70 % of animals may develop persistent lymphocytosis and 0.1 to 10 % of cattle suffer from lymphosarcoma. This infection is detected by serological tests, usually by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The objective of this research was to determine the seroprevalence of EBLV in bovine females from the municipality of Paipa (Boyacá). The epidemiological study was Descriptive Observational (Cross-sectional) with simple random sampling, where 1000 serum samples were collected, which were processed using the indirect ELISA technique implementing the commercial kit SERELISA® BLV Ab Mono Blocking. A seroprevalence of 31.1 % (311/1000) was determined, finding a statistically significant association between breed, age and seropositivity for the virus.

ABSTRACT Queuing theory is a set of mathematical models that explain systems where customers wait in a row to receive service under specific selection criteria. The models allow analyzing the system's behavior and finding a "solid-state" that achieves an optimal use of resources. However, there are no models developed for each type of behavior of the distribution of customer arrival times or customer service times in the system in many real situations. In these cases, it is recommended to work the queuing systems through simulation by discrete events. This paper proposed applying the queue system principles in a container loading and unloading process in the port of Barranquilla (Colombia). For this, the entry and exit elements of the import and export processes of goods were identified. Each process's actual loading and unloading times were consolidated and analyzed to identify the most adjusted probability distributions for these times. The simulation process included the random generation of the times between arrivals and the service times to 30 simulations made in each process to study the evolution of the queuing system over time. The results demonstrated the utility of the proposed approach to obtain and analyze the performance measures of the processes.

RESUMEN La teoría de colas es un conjunto de modelos matemáticos que explican sistemas en donde los clientes esperan en una fila para recibir un servicio bajo ciertos criterios de selección. Los modelos permiten analizar el comportamiento del sistema y encontrar un "estado sólido" que genere un empleo óptimo de recursos. Sin embargo, en muchas situaciones reales no existen modelos desarrollados para cada tipo de comportamiento de la distribución de los tiempos de llegada del cliente al sistema o los tiempos de servicio al cliente en el sistema. En estos casos, se recomienda trabajar los sistemas de colas a través de la simulación por eventos discretos. En el presente documento, se propone aplicar los principios de la simulación por eventos discretos en un sistema de líneas de espera de una empresa de cargue y descargue de contenedores en el puerto de Barranquilla (Colombia). Para ello, se identificaron los elementos de entrada y salida de los procesos de exportación e importación de mercancía y se consolidaron y analizaron los tiempos reales de cargue y descargue de contenedores. El proceso de simulación incluyo la generación aleatoria de los tiempos entre llegadas y los tiempos de servicio a 30 simulaciones hechas en cada proceso para estudiar la evolución del sistema de colas en el tiempo. Los resultados demostraron la utilidad del enfoque propuesto para obtener y analizar las medidas de rendimiento de los procesos.
