Abstract from the 1940s to 2000, reflecting on the conceptual transformations in the field and their relationship with technological advancements. Initially, the UN provided the definition of Cartography, but from 1965 onwards, the ICA assumed this responsibility. Over the span of 40 years, these definitions evolved considerably. In 1992, Fraser Taylor, as the president of the ICA, introduced a significant update by incorporating the term "geoinformation" into the definition. This modification broadened the scope of Cartography to include other forms of spatial representation. However, in the late 1990s, there was a regression when the ICA simplified the definition of Cartography, restricting it to the study of maps. This dynamic illustrates that the evolution of scientific debates does not always follow a linear trajectory, often oscillating between advancements and regressions. Resumo Este artigo analisa as definições de Cartografia propostas pela ONU (Organização das Nações Unidas) e pela ICA (International Cartographic Association) entre os anos 1940 e 2000, refletindo sobre as transformações conceituais no campo e sua relação com os avanços tecnológicos na área. Inicialmente, a definição de Cartografia era determinada pela ONU, mas a partir de 1965, a ICA assumiu essa responsabilidade. Ao longo de 40 anos, as definições evoluíram consideravelmente. Em 1992, Fraser Taylor, como presidente da ICA, apresentou uma atualização significativa ao incluir o termo "geoinformação" em sua definição. Essa modificação ampliou o escopo da Cartografia para abranger outras formas de representação espacial. No entanto, no final da década de 1990, houve um retrocesso quando a ICA simplificou a definição de Cartografia, restringindo-a ao estudo de mapas. Essa dinâmica mostra que a evolução dos debates científicos nem sempre segue uma trajetória linear, podendo oscilar entre avanços e retrocessos. Inicialmente, la definición de Cartografía era determinada por la ONU, pero a partir de 1965, la ICA asumió esa responsabilidad. A lo largo de 40 años, las definiciones evolucionaron considerablemente. En 1992, Fraser Taylor, como presidente de la ICA, presentó una actualización significativa al incluir el término "geoinformación" en su definición. Esta modificación amplió el alcance de la Cartografía para abarcar otras formas de representación espacial. Sin embargo, a finales de la década de 1990, hubo un retroceso cuando la ICA simplificó la definición de Cartografía, restringiéndola al estudio de mapas. Esta dinámica muestra que la evolución de los debates científicos no siempre sigue una trayectoria lineal, pudiendo oscilar entre avances y retrocesos. Resumo Qualidade da água é um dos temas de maior preocupação mundial, pois se trata de um recurso fundamental a vida, cujo monitoramento constante se faz necessário. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar o monitoramento sazonal da qualidade água no córrego Urutu-MS, ocupada em mais de 50% com florestas de silvicultura de eucalipto. As amostras de água foram coletadas de cinco pontos sazonalmente entre o outono de 2019 e o verão de 2020. Sendo vinte e três parâmetros inclusos como temperatura, pH, Oxigênio dissolvido, Condutividade, Alcalinidade, Matéria Orgânica, Cloreto, Sulfato, Ferro total, Cor, Turbidez, Sólidos dissolvidos totais, Sólidos suspensos totais, Demanda Química de Oxigênio, Fósforo total, Dureza, Alumínio, Manganês, Magnésio, Sódio, Cálcio, Cobre e Ferro Dissolvido. Os resultados mostraram que há diferença na qualidade da água entre as estações do ano em função das diferentes concentrações dos parâmetros físico-químicos. A primavera apresentou-se na classe II, enquanto as demais na classe I mostrando a influência do início das chuvas após o inverno seco. Interações entre os parâmetros obedeceram às associações convencionais como Alcalinidade e Condutividade, SDT e Condutividade, Cor e Turbidez, SST e Turbidez, Condutividade e Cálcio, Condutividade e Magnésio. Résumé La qualité de l’eau est l’un des sujets les plus préoccupants à l’échelle mondiale, car il s’agit d’une ressource fondamentale pour la vie, nécessitant une surveillance constante. L'objectif de ce travail était de réaliser un suivi saisonnier de la qualité de l'eau du ruisseau Urutu-MS, occupé à plus de 50% par des forêts sylvicoles d'eucalyptus. Des échantillons d'eau ont été collectés en cinq points de manière saisonnière entre l'automne 2019 et l'été 2020. Vingt-trois paramètres ont été inclus, tels que la température, le pH, l'oxygène dissous, la conductivité, l'alcalinité, la matière organique, le chlorure, le sulfate, le fer total, la couleur, la turbidité, les solides dissous totaux, les matières en suspension totales, la demande chimique en oxygène, le phosphore total, la dureté, l'aluminium, le manganèse, le magnésium, le sodium, le calcium, le cuivre et le fer dissous. Les résultats ont montré qu’il existe une différence de qualité de l’eau entre les saisons en raison des différentes concentrations de paramètres physico-chimiques. Le printemps a été classé en Classe II, tandis que les autres saisons étaient classées en Classe I, montrant l'influence de l'arrivée des pluies après l'hiver sec. Les interactions entre les paramètres suivaient des associations conventionnelles, telles qu'entre l'alcalinité et la conductivité, les SDT et la conductivité, la couleur et la turbidité, les SST et la turbidité, la conductivité et le calcium, et la conductivité et le magnésium. Abstract Water quality is one of the topics of greatest concern worldwide, as it is a fundamental resource for life, whose constant monitoring is necessary. The objective of this work was to carry out seasonal monitoring of water quality in the Urutu-MS stream, occupied by more than 50% of eucalyptus silviculture forests. Water samples were collected from five points seasonally between autumn 2019 and summer 2020. Twenty-three parameters included such as temperature, pH, Dissolved oxygen, Conductivity, Alkalinity, Organic matter, Chloride, Sulfate, Total iron, Color, Turbidity, Total dissolved solids, Total suspended solids, Chemical Oxygen Demand, Total phosphorus, Hardness, Aluminum, Manganese, Magnesium, Sodium, Calcium, Copper and Dissolved Iron. The results showed that there is a difference in water quality between the seasons due to the different concentrations of physicochemical parameters. Spring was in class II, while the others were in class I, showing the influence of the onset of rain after the dry winter. Interactions between parameters followed conventional associations such as Alkalinity and Conductivity, SDT and Conductivity, Color and Turbidity, SST and Turbidity, Conductivity and Calcium, Conductivity and Magnesium. This study aimed to evaluate the chemical composition, fractionation of nitrogen compounds and carbohydrates, digestibility parameters, gas production kinetics and ruminal fermentation of fruit seed cakes. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with three fruit seed cakes (treatments) and four replications. The cakes were made of seeds of custard apple (Annona squamosa), soursop (Annona muricata) and passion fruit (Passiflora edulis), which were collected in a biodiesel plant. The passion fruit seed cake presented the highest content of dry matter, neutral detergent fibre crude protein (NDFcp), acid detergent fibre (ADF), lignin and total carbohydrates (P<0.05). The custard apple seed cake presented high proportions of crude protein, condensed tannins and digestible energy (P<0.05). The soursop seed cake presented higher values for ether extract and total digestible nutrients (P<0.05). For potential degradability, the authors detected a difference between the custard apple, soursop and passion fruit seed cakes. The total volume of gases was higher for custard apple and soursop seed cakes. Custard apple seed cake presented higher proportions of in vitro degradation parameters (P<0.05). Thus this cake could provide greater nutrient levels when supplied in ruminant diets, followed by soursop seed cake and passion fruit seed cake.

RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar os efeitos da solução poli-iônica intravenosa contendo 84mEq/L de lactato (L84) sobre os equilíbrios hidroeletrolítico e ácido-base de equinos, quando administrada de forma rápida ou lenta. Cinco equinos sadios adultos receberam a infusão contínua intravenosa da L84, em volume correspondente a 10% do peso corporal, em duas ocasiões: a) infusão rápida (16,66mL/kg/h) durante seis horas; b) infusão lenta (8,33mL/kg/h) durante 12 horas. Amostras de sangue venoso foram colhidas ao início da infusão (hora zero) e três, seis, nove, 12 e 24 horas após, e amostras de urina nas horas zero, seis, 12 e 24. Determinaram-se pH (sanguíneo e urinário), pCO2, HCO3 -, BE, PPT, lactato L, Na+, K+, Cl-, AG, SID, Atot, VVP, densidade urinária e excreções fracionadas urinárias de lactato L, Na+, K+ e Cl-. A L84 provoca efeito alcalinizante iatrogênico de menor magnitude quando administrada de forma lenta, porque os mecanismos renais, atuantes durante o período de infusão, promovem a correção gradativa do desequilíbrio. Pode-se concluir que a infusão de forma lenta da solução L84 em equinos é recomendável nos casos em que se suspeite de acidose metabólica e não seja possível quantificar o grau do desequilíbrio.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of an intravenous polyionic solution containing 84mEq/L of lactate (L84) on the hydroelectrolyte and acid-base balances when administered quickly or slowly in horses. Five healthy adult horses received the L84 solution, in a volume corresponding to 10% of BW, by continuous intravenous infusion, in two instants: a) rapid infusion (16.66mL/kg/h) during 6 hours; b) slow infusion (8.33mL/kg/h) during 12 hours. Venous blood samples were taken at the beginning of the infusion (hour 0) and 3, 6, 9, 12, and 24 hours after. Urine samples were taken at 0, 6, 12, and 24h. pH (blood and urine), pCO2, HCO3-, BE, TPP, L-lactate, Na+, K+, Cl-, AG, SID, Atot, PVV, urine specific gravity, and L-lactate, Na+, K+, and Cl- renal fractional clearance were determined. The L84 solution causes lower magnitude alkalizing effect when administered slowly, due to the gradual correction of the iatrogenic imbalance by the kidneys during the infusion period. The L84 solution infused at a low rate in horses could be recommended in cases where metabolic acidosis is suspected and it is not possible to quantify the imbalance degree.

Resumo Objetivo: Analisar as variáveis demográficas e clínicas associadas à diminuição da qualidade de vida em uma grande coorte brasileira de pacientes com espondiloartrite (EpA). Métodos: Foi aplicado um protocolo de pesquisa único a 1.465 pacientes brasileiros classificados como tendo EpA de acordo com os critérios do European Spondyloarthropaties Study Group (ESSG), atendidos em 29 centros de referência em reumatologia do Brasil. Foram registradas as variáveis clínicas e demográficas. A qualidade de vida foi analisada por meio do questionário Ankylosing Spondylitis Quality of Life (ASQoL). Resultados: A pontuação média do ASQoL foi de 7,74 (+ 5,39). Ao analisar doenças específicas no grupo de EpA, as pontuações do ASQoL não apresentaram diferença estatisticamente significativa. Os dados demográficos mostraram piores escores de ASQoL associados ao gênero feminino (p = 0,014) e etnia negra (p < 0,001). Quanto aos sintomas clínicos, a dor na região glútea (p = 0,032), a dor cervical (p < 0,001) e a dor no quadril (p = 0,001), estiveram estatisticamente associadas a piores escores no ASQoL. O uso contínuo de fármacos anti-inflamatórios não esteroides (p < 0,001) e agentes biológicos (p = 0,044) esteve associado a escores mais elevados de ASQoL, enquanto outros medicamentos não interferiram nos escores do ASQoL. Conclusão: Nesta grande série de pacientes com EpA, o sexo feminino e a etnia negra, bem como sintomas predominantemente axiais, estiveram associados a uma qualidade de vida reduzida.

Abstract Objective: To analyze quality of life and demographic and clinical variables associated to its impairment in a large Brazilian cohort of patients with spondyloarthritis (SpA). Methods: A common protocol of investigation was applied to 1465 Brazilian patients classified as SpA according to the European Spondyloarthropaties Study Group (ESSG) criteria, attended at 29 reference centers for Rheumatology in Brazil. Clinical and demographic variables were recorded. Quality of life was analyzed through the Ankylosing Spondylitis Quality of Life (ASQoL) questionnaire. Results: The mean ASQoL score was 7.74 (± 5.39). When analyzing the specific diseases in the SpA group, the ASQoL scores did not present statistical significance. Demographic data showed worse scores of ASQoL associated with female gender (p = 0.014) and African-Brazilian ethnicity (p < 0.001). Regarding clinical symptoms, buttock pain (p = 0.032), cervical pain (p < 0.001) and hip pain (p = 0.001), were statistically associated with worse scores of ASQoL. Continuous use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (p < 0.001) and biologic agents (p = 0.044) were associated with higher scores of ASQoL, while the other medications did not interfere with the ASQoL scores. Conclusion: In this large series of patients with SpA, female gender and African-Brazilian ethnicity, as well as predominant axial symptoms, were associated with impaired quality of life.

Objetivo Avaliar os resultados da aplicação do Índice de Atividade de Doença da Espondilite Anquilosante de Bath (BASDAI) numa série de pacientes brasileiros com EpA e estabelecer suas correlações com as variáveis específicas do grupo. Métodos Um protocolo comum de investigação foi prospectivamente aplicado em 1.492 pacientes brasileiros classificados como EpA pelos critérios do Grupo Europeu de Estudo das Espondiloartropatias (ESSG), acompanhados em 29 centros de referência em reumatologia no Brasil. Variáveis clínicas, demográficas e índices de doença foram colhidos. Os valores totais do BASDAI foram comparados com a presença das diferentes variáveis. Resultados O valor médio do BASDAI foi de 4,20 ± 2,38. Os escores médios do BASDAI foram mais elevados nos pacientes com forma clínica combinada, comparado às formas axiais e periféricas isoladas, nos pacientes do sexo feminino e nos sedentários. Com relação ao componente axial, valores mais altos do BASDAI estiveram significativamente associados à lombalgia inflamatória, à dor alternante em nádegas, à dor cervical e ao acometimento de coxofemorais. Houve associação estatística entre os valores do BASDAI e o comprometimento periférico, relacionado ao número de articulações inflamadas, tanto dos membros inferiores quanto dos membros superiores, e às entesites. A positividade do HLA-B27 e a presença de manifestações extra-articulares não estiveram correlacionadas com os valores médios do BASDAI. Valores mais baixos do BASDAI estiveram associados ao uso de agentes biológicos (p < 0,001). Conclusão Nesta série heterogênea de pacientes brasileiros com EpA, o BASDAI conseguiu demonstrar “atividade de doença” tanto nos pacientes com acometimento axial quanto naqueles com envolvimento periférico.

Objective To analyze the results of the application of the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) in a large series of Brazilian patients with the diagnosis of SpA and establish its correlations with specific variables into the group. Methods A common protocol of investigation was prospectively applied to 1492 Brazilian patients classified as SpA according to the European Spondyoarthropathies Study Group (ESSG), attended at 29 referral centers of Rheumatology in Brazil. Clinical and demographic variables, and disease indices (BASDAI, Basfi, Basri, Mases, ASQol) were applied. The total values of BASDAI were compared to the presence of the different variables. Results The mean score of BASDAI was 4.20 ± 2.38. The mean scores of BASDAI were higher in patients with the combined (axial + peripheral + entheseal) (4.54 ± 2.38) clinical presentation, compared to the pure axial (3.78 ± 2.27) or pure peripheral (4.00 ± 2.38) clinical presentations (P < 0.001). BASDAI also presented higher scores associated with the female gender (P < 0.001) and patients who did not practice exercises (P < 0.001). Regarding the axial component, higher values of BASDAI were significantly associated with inflammatory low back pain (P < 0.049), alternating buttock pain (P < 0.001), cervical pain (P < 0.001) and hip involvement (P < 0.001). There was also statistical association between BASDAI scores and the peripheral involvement, related to the lower (P = 0.004) and upper limbs (P = 0.025). The presence of enthesitis was also associated to higher scores of BASDAI (P = 0.040). Positive HLA-B27 and the presence of cutaneous psoriasis, inflammatory bowel disease, uveitis and urethritis were not correlated with the mean scores of BASDAI. Lower scores of BASDAI were associated with the use of biologic agents (P < 0.001). Conclusion In this heterogeneous Brazilian series of SpA patients, BASDAI was able to demonstrate “disease activity” in patients with axial as well as peripheral disease.

Introdução: Poucos estudos avaliaram o perfil do uso de drogas modificadoras de doença (DMD) em pacientes brasileiros com diagnóstico de espondiloartrite (EpA). Métodos: Um protocolo comum de investigação foi prospectivamente aplicado em 1505 pacientes classificados como EpA pelos critérios do Grupo Europeu de Estudo das Espondiloartrites (ESSG), acompanhados em 29 centros de referência em Reumatologia no Brasil. Variáveis clínicas e demográficas foram obtidas e avaliadas, analisando-se suas correlações com o uso das DMD metotrexato (MTX) e sulfasalazina (SSZ). Resultados: Pelo menos uma DMD foi utilizada por 73,6% dos pacientes, sendo MTX por 29,2% e SSZ por 21,7%, enquanto 22,7% utilizaram ambas as drogas. O uso do MTX foi significativamente associado ao acometimento periférico, e a SSZ foi associada ao comprometimento axial, sendo que as duas drogas foram mais utilizadas, isoladas ou combinadas, no comprometimento misto (p < 0,001). O uso de uma DMD esteve significativamente associado à etnia branca (MTX; p = 0,014), lombalgia inflamatória (SSZ; p = 0,002), dor em nádegas (SSZ; p = 0,030), cervicalgia (MTX; p = 0,042), artrite de membros inferiores (MTX; p < 0,001), artrite de membros superiores (MTX; p < 0,001), entesite (p = 0,007), dactilite (MTX; p < 0,001), doença inflamatória intestinal (SSZ; p < 0,001) e acometimento ungueal (MTX; p < 0,001). Conclusão: O uso de pelo menos uma DMD foi referido por mais de 70% dos pacientes numa grande coorte brasileira de pacientes com EpA, sendo o uso do MTX mais associado ao acometimento periférico e o uso da SSZ mais associado ao acometimento axial.

Introduction: Few studies have evaluated the profile of use of disease modifying drugs (DMD) in Brazilian patients with spondyloarthritis (SpA). Methods: A common research protocol was applied prospectively in 1505 patients classified as SpA by criteria of the European Spondyloarthropathies Study Group (ESSG), followed at 29 referral centers in Rheumatology in Brazil. Demographic and clinical variables were obtained and evaluated, by analyzing their correlation with the use of DMDs methotrexate (MTX) and sulfasalazine (SSZ). Results: At least one DMD was used by 73.6 % of patients: MTX by 29.2 % and SSZ by 21.7%, while 22.7 % used both drugs. The use of MTX was significantly associated with peripheral involvement, and SSZ was associated with axial involvement, and the two drugs were more administered, separately or in combination, in the mixed involvement (p < 0.001). The use of a DMD was significantly associated with Caucasian ethnicity (MTX , p = 0.014), inflammatory back pain (SSZ, p = 0.002) , buttock pain (SSZ, p = 0.030), neck pain (MTX, p = 0.042), arthritis of the lower limbs (MTX, p < 0.001), arthritis of the upper limbs (MTX, p < 0.001), enthesitis (p = 0.007), dactylitis (MTX, p < 0.001), inflammatory bowel disease (SSZ, p < 0.001) and nail involvement (MTX, p < 0.001). Conclusion: The use of at least one DMD was reported by more than 70% of patients in a large cohort of Brazilian patients with SpA, with MTX use more associated with peripheral involvement and the use of SSZ more associated with axial involvement.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the influence of (CA)n repeats in the insulin-like growth factor 1 gene and a variable number of tandem repeats of the insulin gene on birth size in children who are small or adequate-sized for gestational age and to correlate these polymorphisms with serum insulin-like growth factor 1 levels and insulin sensitivity in children who are small for gestational age, with and without catch-up growth. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We evaluated 439 infants: 297 that were adequate-sized for gestational age and 142 that were small for gestational age (66 with and 76 without catch-up). The number of (CA)n repeat in the insulin-like growth factor 1 gene and a variable number of tandem repeats in the insulin gene were analyzed using GENESCAN software and polymerase chain reaction followed by enzymatic digestion, respectively. Clinical and laboratory data were obtained from all patients. RESULTS: The height, body mass index, paternal height, target height and insulin-like growth factor 1 serum levels were higher in children who were small for gestational age with catch-up. There was no difference in the allelic and genotypic distributions of both polymorphisms between the adequate-sized and small infants or among small infants with and without catch-up. Similarly, the polymorphisms were not associated with clinical or laboratory variables. CONCLUSION: Polymorphisms of the (CA)n repeats of the insulin-like growth factor 1 gene and a variable number of tandem repeats of the insulin gene, separately or in combination, did not influence pre- or postnatal growth, insulin-like growth factor 1 serum levels or insulin resistance.

Foram avaliados os efeitos da radiação gama nas doses de 1,5 e 3,0kGy, em peitos de frango embalados em embalagem convencional e a vácuo. As amostras embaladas foram submetidas à irradiação e estocadas sob refrigeração (4ºC) por 30 dias. A radiação mostrou-se eficiente na redução de mesófilos aeróbios estritos e facultativos viáveis, coliformes totais e termotolerantes, com destaque para Salmonella spp. Os bolores e leveduras mostraram-se bastante resistentes à radiação. Os resultados sugerem que a dose de 3,0kGy pode ser utilizada no controle da microbiota do peito de frango armazenado sob refrigeração, sendo uma alternativa para o aumento da vida de prateleira por até 10 dias, ao garantir a segurança do consumidor pela eliminação de possíveis patógenos.

The effects of gamma radiation doses of 1.5 and 3.0kGy on chicken breasts packed under conventional or vacuum atmosphere were evaluated. The packed samples were subjected to irradiation and stored under refrigeration (4°C) for 30 days. The radiation was efficient in reducing strict and facultative aerobic mesophiles, total and fecal coliforms, and mainly Salmonella spp. The molds and yeasts were very resistant to radiation. The results suggest that gamma radiation at 3.0kGy can be used to control the microbiota in chicken breast stored under refrigeration, as an alternative to extend the shelf-life for more than ten days and ensure the food safety by eliminating potential pathogens.

Objetivou-se neste trabalho avaliar a suscetibilidade dos cultivares de arroz irrigado IRGA 417, BR-IRGA 410, BRS Pelota e Qualimax 1 à simulação de deriva do herbicida imazethapyr + imazapic em função da época de início da irrigação por inundação. Para isso, foi conduzido experimento em casa de vegetação do Departamento de Fitossanidade da FAEM/UFPel, na estação de crescimento 2003/04. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições. A deriva foi simulada pela aplicação de doses crescentes do herbicida imazethapyr + imazapic, correspondendo a 0; 3,125; 6,25; 12,5; 25; 50; e 100% da dose comercial (100 g ha-1), acrescido de Dash a 0,5% v/v, pulverizados sobre as plantas de arroz em estádios fenológicos V3 - V4, com inundação três dias antes ou após a aplicação dos tratamentos. A aplicação foi realizada com pulverizador costal, pressurizado a CO2, munido de barra com bicos 110.015 do tipo leque a uma pressão constante de 210 kPa, que proporcionou a aplicação de 150 L ha-1 de calda herbicida. A fitotoxicidade ocasionada pelo herbicida foi avaliada de forma visual aos 10, 15 e 20 dias após a aplicação dos tratamentos (DAT), utilizando-se escala percentual. Aos 25 DAT foi determinada a massa seca aérea e radical. O herbicida imazethapyr + imazapic causou fitotoxicidade aos cultivares de arroz IRGA 417, BR-IRGA 410, BRS Pelota e Qualimax 1, em deriva ocorrida em solo seco ou inundado. A massa seca da parte aérea e radical foi reduzida com o aumento da dose aplicada, independentemente da condição de aplicação. O cultivar IRGA 417 foi mais sensível à simulação de deriva de imazethapyr + imazapic.

The susceptibility of rice cultivars IRGA 417, BR-IRGA 410, BRS Pelota and Qualimax 1 was evaluated using a simulated drift of the herbicide imazethapyr + imazapic as a function of timing of flooding. The experiment was conducted under greenhouse conditions during the 2003/2004 growing season. The experimental design was arranged in randomized blocks with four replications. Treatments consisted of drift simulation by applying increasing herbicide doses at the following rates: 0%, 3.125%; 6.25%; 12.5%; 25%; 50% or 100% of the commercial dose (amended with Dash at 0.5% v/v), on rice plants at the V3 to V4 growth stages. Flooding was applied either three days prior or after treatment application. Herbicide was applied using a CO2 pressurized costal sprayer (flat fan nozzles 110.015 on the boom) at 150 L ha-1 with a constant pressure of 210 kPa. Phytotoxicity, expressed in percentage, was evaluated visually at 10, 15 and 20 days after treatment (DAT). Plant and root dry mass were evaluated at 25 DAT. Results showed that herbicide drift promoted toxic effects to rice plant under both dry and flooding conditions. Plant dry mass was significantly reduced with increasing herbicide dosage, regardless of timing of flooding. Cultivar IRGA 417 was the most sensitive to imazethapyr + imazapic simulated drift.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi quantificar os efeitos causados pela deriva simulada do herbicida imazethapyr + imazapic nos componentes da produtividade de grãos de arroz irrigado, em função da época de início da irrigação por inundação. Para isso, foi conduzido experimento no ano agrícola 2003/04, em condições de campo, no Centro Agropecuário da Palma (CAP/UFPel). O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições. A deriva foi simulada pela aplicação de doses crescentes do herbicida imazethapyr + imazapic, correspondendo a 0; 3,125; 6,25; 12,5; 25; 50; e 100% da dose comercial, acrescido de Dash a 0,5% v/v, sobre as plantas de arroz, cultivar BRS Pelota, em estádios fenológicos V3 - V4, com inundação três dias antes ou após a aplicação dos tratamentos. A aplicação foi feita com pulverizador costal, pressurizado a CO2, munido de barra com bicos 110.015 do tipo leque a uma pressão constante de 210 kPa, que proporcionou a aplicação de 150 L ha-1 de calda herbicida. As variáveis avaliadas foram: número de colmos, em estádio R3, número de grãos por panícula, número de espiguetas estéreis, peso de mil grãos e produtividade de grãos, determinados por ocasião da colheita. O herbicida imazethapyr + imazapic reduziu o número de colmos de arroz, o número de grãos e de espiguetas estéreis por panícula, o peso de mil grãos e a produtividade de grãos com o aumento da dose aplicada, quando esta ocorreu em cultura mantida no seco. A antecipação do início da irrigação por inundação, em lavouras semeadas com cultivar suscetível, evita possíveis prejuízos ocasionados por deriva de imazethapyr + imazapic no número de colmos, número de grãos e espiguetas estéreis por panícula, peso de mil grãos e produtividade de grãos.

This work aimed to quantify effects on yield components of rice, cultivar Pelota, caused by a simulated spray drift of imazethapyr + imazapic herbicide in function of the start of flooding timing. The experiment was carried out at Palma Agriculture Center (CAP/UFPel) during the 2003/04 growing season. A randomized complete block design with four replications was used. Treatments consisted of simulating drift by applying increasing dosages of the herbicide at the following rates: 0%, 3.125%; 6.25%; 12.5%; 25%; 50% or 100% of the commercial dosage (amended with Dash at 0.5% v/v), on rice plants at V2 to V4 growth stages. Flooding was applied either three days prior or after treatment application. The herbicide was applied using a CO2 pressurized costal sprayer (flat fan nozzles 110.015 on the boom) at 150 L ha-1 with a constant pressure of 210 kPa. The yield parameters evaluated by the time of harvest were: number of culms at R3 stage, number of grains per panicle, number of sterile spikelets, thousand-grain weight and grain yield. The results showed that yield components were negatively affected with increasing herbicide dosage, when the crop was kept under drier conditions. However, flooding before herbicide application reduced herbicide drift losses on rice plants.
