Abstract Sjogren’s disease (SjD) is an autoimmune disease that is characterized not only by the sicca symptoms it causes but also by its systemic nature, which is capable of several and not yet fully understood extraglandular manifestations. To gain a clearer understanding of these manifestations as well as a better practical approach, a panel of experts from the Brazilian Society of Rheumatology conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis on the identification of epidemiologic and clinical features of the extraglandular manifestations present in ESSDAI (EULAR Sjogren´s syndrome disease activity index), followed by a voting panel with recommendations for clinical practice. This publication is complementary to others already published and covers cutaneous and hematological manifestations, with prevalence data generated by a meta-analysis of 13 clinical or laboratory manifestations and 6 clinical management recommendations. RESUMO Fundamento: As evidências acerca das sequelas a longo prazo após internação por síndrome do desconforto respiratório agudo por COVID-19 ainda são escassas. Objetivo: Avaliar alterações nas funções pulmonar, cardíaca e renal e na qualidade de vida após internação por síndrome do desconforto respiratório agudo secundária à COVID-19. Métodos: Trata-se de estudo multicêntrico, caso-controle, incluindo 220 participantes. Os casos serão definidos como pacientes hospitalizados por síndrome do desconforto respiratório agudo devido à COVID-19. No Grupo Controle, serão selecionados indivíduos sem histórico de hospitalização nos últimos 12 meses ou sintomas a longo prazo de COVID-19. Todos os indivíduos serão submetidos à espirometria pulmonar com teste de difusão pelo monóxido de carbono, tomografia de tórax, ressonância magnética cardíaca e renal com gadolínio, ergoespirometria, creatinina sérica e urinária, proteínas totais e microalbuminúria urinária, além de questionários de qualidade de vida. Os casos serão avaliados 12 meses após a alta hospitalar e os controles, 90 dias após a inclusão no estudo. Para todas as análises estatísticas, será assumido como significativo o valor p < 0,05. Resultados: O desfecho primário do estudo foi definido com a capacidade de difusão pulmonar aferida para o monóxido de carbono a partir de 12 meses. Os demais parâmetros das funções pulmonar, cardíacas e renal e da qualidade de vida foram definidos como desfechos secundários. Conclusão: Este estudo visa determinar as sequelas a longo prazo nas funções pulmonar, cardíaca e renal e na qualidade de vida de pacientes internados por síndrome do desconforto respiratório agudo devido à COVID-19 na população brasileira. ABSTRACT Rationale: Evidence about long-term sequelae after hospitalization for acute respiratory distress syndrome due to COVID-19 is still scarce. Purpose: To evaluate changes in pulmonary, cardiac, and renal function and in quality of life after hospitalization for acute respiratory distress syndrome secondary to COVID-19. Methods: This will be a multicenter case–control study of 220 participants. Eligible are patients who are hospitalized for acute respiratory distress syndrome due to COVID-19. In the control group, individuals with no history of hospitalization in the last 12 months or long-term symptoms of COVID-19 will be selected. All individuals will be subjected to pulmonary spirometry with a carbon monoxide diffusion test, chest tomography, cardiac and renal magnetic resonance imaging with gadolinium, ergospirometry, serum and urinary creatinine, total protein, and urinary microalbuminuria, in addition to quality-of-life questionnaires. Patients will be evaluated 12 months after hospital discharge, and controls will be evaluated within 90 days of inclusion in the study. For all the statistical analyses, p < 0.05 is the threshold for significance. Results: The primary outcome of the study will be the pulmonary diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide measured after 12 months. ABSTRACT Objective Currently programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) inhibitors in combination with other therapies are being evaluated to determine their efficacy in cancer treatment. However, the effect of PD-ligand (L) 1 expression on disease outcomes in stage III (EC III) non-small cell lung cancer is not completely understood. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the influence of PD-L1 expression on the outcomes of EC III non-small cell lung cancer. Methods This study was conducted on patients diagnosed with EC III non-small cell lung cancer who underwent treatment at a tertiary care hospital. PD-L1 expression was determined using immunohistochemical staining, all patients expressed PD-L1. Survival was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Relationships between variables were assessed using Cox proportional regression models. Results A total of 49 patients (median age=69 years) with EC III non-small cell lung cancer and PD-L1 expression were evaluated. More than half of the patients were men, and most were regular smokers. The patients were treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy, surgery, or sequential or combined chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The median progression-free survival of the entire cohort was 14.2 months, and the median overall survival was 20 months. There was no significant association between PD-L1 expression and disease progression, clinical characteristics, or overall survival. Conclusions PD-L1 expression was not correlated with EC III non-small cell lung cancer outcomes. Whether these findings differ from the association with immune checkpoint inhibitors remains to be addressed in future studies. Resumo Neospora caninum é uma das principais causas de perda reprodutiva em bovinos em todo o mundo, pois leva ao aborto e ao reposicionamento animal. Embora o Toxoplasma gondii não cause problemas reprodutivos em bovinos, o consumo de carne bovina crua ou não cozida apresenta risco de transmissão. Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a ocorrência de anticorpos anti-N. caninum e anti-T. gondii em bovinos leiteiros nas regiões Oeste e Noroeste do Estado de São Paulo, Brasil. Um total de 653 amostras de soro de bovinos leiteiros, foi analisado utilizando-se o ensaio de imunofluorescência indireta (IFI). Os dados epidemiológicos das propriedades foram associados aos resultados sorológicos dos animais por meio de regressão logística. As frequências dos anticorpos contra N. caninum e T. gondii foram 41,6% (272/653) e 11,5% (75/653), respectivamente. Foi observada associação estatisticamente significativa entre: soropositividade para N. caninum e raça, histórico de suplementação alimentar para bezerros, introdução de animais externos que, posteriormente, apresentaram problemas reprodutivos e histórico de problemas reprodutivos no segundo trimestre de gestação. Abstract Neospora caninum is a major cause of reproductive loss in cattle worldwide as it leads to abortion and animal repositioning. Although Toxoplasma gondii does not cause a reproductive problem in cattle, consuming raw or uncooked beef poses the risk of transmission. This study aimed to evaluate the occurrence of anti-N. caninum and anti-T. gondii antibodies in dairy cattle in the West and Northwest regions of São Paulo State, Brazil. A total of 653 serum samples from dairy cows were analyzed using an indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA). Epidemiological data from the farms were associated with the serological results of the animals by logistic regression based on the presence of antibodies. The frequencies of the antibodies against N. caninum and T. gondii were 41.6% (272/653) and 11.5% (75/653), respectively. A statistically significant association was observed between: the serum anti-N. caninum antibodies and breed, history of food supplementation for calves, introduction of outside animals that later presented reproductive problems, and history of reproductive problems by the trimester of gestation. ABSTRACT Objective: This study investigated the acute effects of cocoa flavanol (CF) supplementation on glucose homeostasis, aerobic performance, and lactate concentration in rats with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and normoglycemia (NORM). Materials and methods: The study included 28 male Wistar rats (220-290 g). Induction of T1DM (n = 8) was achieved through intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin, while T2DM (n = 10) was induced using an ad libitum high-fat diet combined with a fructose-rich beverage. The rats in the NORM group (n = 10) received a standard diet for 30 days. Two experiments were conducted: (1) T1DM rats performed two successive 30-minute treadmill runs below the anaerobic threshold and (2) T2DM and NORM rats underwent two incremental maximal treadmill running tests, both after CF or placebo supplementation. Blood glucose concentrations were measured from pre-exercise to 60 minutes post-exercise. Results: Glycemic reduction at 60 minutes post-exercise was significantly potentiated by CF compared with placebo supplementation in T1DM, T2DM, and normoglycemic rats (p < 0.05 for all). In T2DM rats, CF induced a glycemic response comparable to the NORM placebo-supplemented condition. These effects of CF persisted despite variations in aerobic performance or lactate concentration after incremental exercise. Conclusion: Supplementation with CF prior to physical exercise elicited a pronounced post-aerobic exercise glycemic reduction. AIM: to describe the methodology used in the study, the sample and the prevalence of symptoms in the acute phase of the infection according to socioeconomic variables. METHODS: cross-sectional study carried out in Rio Grande with individuals infected with covid-19 from December 2020 to March 2021. Nineteen symptoms present during the acute phase of the infection were investigated and analyzed, separately and in categories of “0-4”, “5-9” and “10 or more”, according to gender, age and economic class. RESULTS: 2,919 people were part of the sample. The most prevalent symptoms were fatigue (73.7%), headache (67.2%), loss of taste (65.9%), loss of smell (63.9%) and muscle pain (62.3% ). Regarding the occurrence of symptoms stratified by gender, all symptoms, except productive cough, were statistically higher in females. Regarding age, it was found that headache, pain/discomfort to breathe, loss of taste, loss of smell, fatigue, sore throat, nasal congestion, diarrhea, joint pain and muscle pain were statistically higher among adults (18 -59 years). As for economic class, the prevalence of symptoms of shortness of breath, pain/discomfort in breathing, alteration in sensitivity and joint pain showed a linear increase with the reduction in economic class. CONCLUSION: the results of this study made it possible to identify the most frequent symptoms in the acute phase of covid-19 and their distribution in groups, providing data for the implementation of public policies by managers and support for health professionals in assisting this population.

OBJETIVO: descrever a metodologia utilizada no estudo, a amostra e a prevalência dos sintomas da fase aguda da infecção de acordo com variáveis socioeconômicas. MÉTODOS: estudo transversal realizado em Rio Grande com indivíduos infectados pela covid-19 no período de dezembro de 2020 a março de 2021. Foram investigados 19 sintomas presentes durante a fase aguda da infecção e analisados, em separado e em categorias de “0-4”, “5-9” e “10 ou mais”, de acordo com sexo, idade e classe econômica. RESULTADOS: 2.919 pessoas fizeram parte da amostra. Os sintomas mais prevalentes foram fadiga (73,7%), dor de cabeça (67,2%), perda de paladar (65,9%), perda de olfato (63,9%) e dores musculares (62,3%). Com relação a ocorrência de sintomas estratificado por sexo, todos os sintomas, exceto tosse produtiva, foram estatisticamente maiores no sexo feminino. Referente à idade, verificou-se que dor de cabeça, dor/desconforto para respirar, perda de paladar, perda de olfato, fadiga, dor de garganta, congestão nasal, diarreia, dores articulares e dores musculares foram estatisticamente maiores entre os adultos (18-59 anos). Quanto a classe econômica, a prevalência dos sintomas falta de ar, dor/desconforto para respirar, alteração de sensibilidade e dores articulares apresentaram aumento linear conforme a redução da classe econômica. CONCLUSÃO: os resultados deste estudo permitiram identificar os sintomas mais frequentes na fase aguda da covid-19 e sua distribuição nos grupos, fornecendo dados para implementação de políticas públicas pelos gestores e respaldo para os profissionais de saúde na assistência a essa população.

RESUMO Os incêndios florestais, independentemente de suas causas, representam uma das maiores ameaças à biodiversidade nas unidades de conservação brasileiras. A coleta de dados sobre as causas, períodos e locais com maior ocorrência de incêndios possibilita a adoção de estratégias de prevenção mais eficazes. O objetivo deste estudo foi caracterizar os incêndios florestais nas unidades de conservação federais brasileiras de 2006 a 2012, contribuindo assim para aprimorar o conhecimento da dinâmica dos incêndios nessas áreas. Os dados foram obtidos a partir dos Registros de Ocorrência de Incêndio (ROIs) disponíveis no banco de dados do Sistema Nacional de Informações sobre Fogo (SISFOGO). O número total de registros encontrados foi de 2.259, dos quais 88,2% indicavam a causa do incêndio. Entre os registros com a causa indicada, 42,2% corresponderam à categoria “causa desconhecida”, 26,7% à queima para limpeza e 18,5% à incendiários, o que evidencia que a maioria dos incêndios com causa conhecida decorre da ação humana acidental ou intencional. Os incêndios florestais foram mais frequentes de julho a outubro, com uma média de 50,6 ocorrências por ano, influenciados pela distribuição anual da precipitação. Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro e Ceará foram os estados com maior número de registros, com 19,8%, 15,5% e 12,0%, respectivamente. ABSTRACT Forest fires, regardless of their causes, represent one of the greatest threats to biodiversity in Brazilian protected areas. Collecting data on the causes, periods, and sites with the highest occurrence of fires allows for the adoption of more effective prevention strategies. The aim of this study was to characterize forest fires in Brazilian federal protected areas from 2006 to 2012, thus contributing to improving the knowledge of the dynamics of fires in these areas. Data were obtained from Fire Occurrence Records (ROIs, in Portuguese) available in the National Fire Information System (SISFOGO, in Portuguese) database. The total number of records found was 2,259, of which 88.2% had reported causes. Among the records with a reported cause, 42.2% correspond to unknown causes, 26.7% to debris burning, and 18.5% to arson events, which shows that the majority of fires with a known cause are the result of accidental or intentional human action. Forest fires were more frequent from July to October, with a mean of 50.6 occurrences per year, influenced by the annual precipitation distribution. Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and Ceará were the states with the highest number of records, with 19.8%, 15.5%, and 12.0%, respectively. RESUMO Objetivo: Identificar as consequências do uso excessivo da tecnologia na infância. Fontes de dados: Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática nas bases de dados eletrônicas PubMed (National Library of Medicine — National Institutes of Health) e Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) com artigos publicados de 2015 a 2020, em inglês, português e espanhol, utilizando os termos internet, child e growth and development. Síntese dos dados: Foram localizados 554 artigos, resultando em oito artigos incluídos nesta pesquisa. Os estudos foram avaliados quanto à sua qualidade metodológica pelos critérios Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (Strobe) e Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (Consort) e receberam pontuações que variaram de 17 a 22 pontos. Os artigos evidenciaram que há fatores positivos e negativos associados ao uso de tecnologias na infância, embora a maioria dos textos ressalte seu aspecto prejudicial. O uso excessivo de internet, jogos e exposição à televisão ocasionaram alterações intelectuais e da saúde mental, porém também possibilitaram o desenvolvimento psicossocial. Conclusões: Impedir o uso da internet é uma medida utópica, visto que a sociedade faz uso de tecnologias. Considerando que a internet pode trazer benefícios, mas também malefícios, são importantes a otimização do uso e a redução dos riscos, como a participação dos pais e responsáveis como moderadores dessa utilização, além da atualização dos profissionais da saúde para melhor orientá-los.

Abstract Objective: To identify the consequences of technology overuse in childhood. Data source: A systematic review was carried out in the electronic databases PubMed (National Library of Medicine of the National Institutes of Health) and BVS (Virtual Health Library), considering articles published from 2015 to 2020, in English, Portuguese and Spanish using the terms “Internet”, “Child” and “Growth and Development”. Data synthesis: 554 articles were found and 8 were included in the analysis. The studies’ methodological quality was assessed by the Strobe and Consort criteria, being scored from 17 to 22 points. The articles showed positive and negative factors associated with the use of technology in childhood, although most texts emphasize the harmful aspects. Excessive use of internet, games and exposure to television are associated with intellectual deficits and mental health issues, but can also enable psychosocial development. Conclusions: Preventing the use of the internet is a utopic measure ever since society makes use of technologies. The internet is associated with benefits as well as with harms. It is important to optimize the use of internet and reduce risks with the participation of parents and caregivers as moderators, and training of health professionals to better guide them.

Resumo Antecedentes A depressão é um sintoma não motor importante da doença de Parkinson (DP) e tem sido associada aos sintomas motores nesses indivíduos. Objetivos Determinar se existem relações entre sintomas depressivos e anormalidades no alinhamento postural axial e déficits motores axiais, especialmente instabilidade postural e rigidez de tronco na DP. Métodos Neste estudo transversal, 65 indivíduos foram avaliados pelo BDI-II para análise de sintomas depressivos e submetidos à avaliação postural do alinhamento sagital de cabeça, tronco e quadril por meio de fotogrametria computadorizada. A MDS-UPDRS avaliou os aspectos clínicos, TMS avaliou rigidez axial e o MiniBESTest equilíbrio. Para determinar a relação entre sintomas depressivos e alinhamento postural, realizou-se uma análise de regressão linear múltipla. Resultados Os participantes com sintomas depressivos apresentaram déficits motores mais graves, bem como maior rigidez de tronco e pior instabilidade postural (p < 0,05). Quando comparados os ângulos posturais entre homens e mulheres pelo teste t de Student, verificou-se que os homens apresentaram maiores graus de flexão da cabeça (p = 0,003) e do tronco (p = 0,017). Por meio da análise de regressão linear múltipla corrigida para a idade e sexo dos participantes, verificamos que a inclinação anterior do tronco foi significativamente maior nos indivíduos com DP com sintomas depressivos do que sem sintomas depressivos (R2 = 0,453, β = 0,116 e p = 0,045) Conclusão Indivíduos com DP com sintomas depressivos apresentam postura de tronco flexionado mais severa, principalmente em homens mais idosos. Abstract Background Depression is an important nonmotor symptom of Parkinson's disease (PD) and has been associated with the motor symptoms in these individuals. Objectives To determine whether there are relationships between depressive symptoms and abnormalities in axial postural alignment and axial motor deficits, especially postural instability, and trunk rigidity in PD. Methods In this cross-sectional study, 65 individuals were evaluated using the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) for the analysis of depressive symptoms and underwent a postural assessment of head, trunk, and hip sagittal alignment through computerized photogrammetry. The MDS-UPDRS was used to assess clinical aspects of PD, the Trunk Mobility Scale was used to assess axial rigidity, and the MiniBESTest to assess balance. To determine the relationship between depressive symptoms and postural alignment, multiple linear regression analysis was performed. Results The participants with depressive symptoms had more severe motor deficits as well as greater trunk rigidity and worse postural instability (p < 0.05). When the postural angles were compared between men and women using Student's t-test, it was found that men had greater flexion angles of the head (p = 0.003) and trunk (p = 0.017). Using multiple linear regression analysis corrected for the age and sex of the participants, we verified that the anterior trunk inclination was significantly larger in the PD population with depressive symptoms (R2 = 0.453, β = 0.116, and p = 0.045). Conclusion PD individuals with depressive symptoms have more severe flexed trunk posture, mainly in older men. Additionally, more severe depressive symptoms are associated with worsening postural instability, trunk rigidity and motor deficits in this population. RESUMO A doença de Parkinson (DP) é uma desordem neurodegenerativa na qual ocorre a perda dopaminérgica na região dos núcleos da base. Uma das principais queixas associadas à DP são os déficits motores dos membros superiores (MMSS) frequentemente relatados em dificuldades para realizar as atividades de vida diária (AVDs), podendo interferir negativamente na qualidade de vida. Nos últimos anos novas tecnologias surgiram para auxiliar no processo de reabilitação dos MMSS na DP, sendo a realidade virtual uma delas. Portanto, este estudo teve como objetivo verificar os efeitos de uma intervenção nos MMSS com equipamento de realidade virtual semi-imersiva nas AVDs e na qualidade de vida de indivíduos com DP. Foram selecionados seis indivíduos com DP para intervenção, avaliados por meio do miniexame do estado mental, da escala de Hoehn e Yahr, da escala unificada de avaliação para a DP (UPDRS), do questionário sobre a doença de Parkinson (PDQ-39) e do test d’évaluation des membres supérieurs de personnes âgées (Tempa). Seis sujeitos foram submetidos à intervenção com duração de 27 minutos por sessão, duas vezes na semana, por cinco semanas, utilizando o Leap Motion Controller. Obteve-se melhora na força muscular, na resistência muscular, nas AVDs e na qualidade de vida, todos com significância estatística. Dessa forma, verificou-se que o protocolo baseado em realidade virtual aplicada nos MMSS foi eficaz para melhorar as AVDs e a qualidade de vida dos indivíduos com DP deste estudo.

ABSTRACT Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder in which dopaminergic loss occurs in the basal nuclei region. One major complaint associated with PD is upper extremity motor deficits (UE), frequently reported in difficulties to perform activities of daily living (ADL), which may negatively affect quality of life. In recent years new technologies have emerged to assist the UE rehabilitation process in PD, such as virtual reality. Therefore, this study sought to verify the effects of an intervention in the UE with semi-immersive virtual reality equipment on ADLs and quality of life of individuals with PD. Six individuals with PD were selected for intervention, and evaluated by the Mini Mental State Examination, the Hoehn & Yahr Scale, the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS), the Parkinson’s Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39) and the test d’évaluation des membres supérieurs de personnes âgées (TEMPA). The interventions lasted 27 minutes per session, twice per week, for 5 weeks, using the Leap Motion Controller. Individuals showed improvement in muscle strength, muscle endurance, ADLs, and quality of life, all statistically significant. In conclusion, the protocol based on virtual reality applied to the upper limbs effectively improved the activities of daily living and quality of life in individuals with PD.

RESUMEN La enfermedad de Parkinson (EP) es un trastorno neurodegenerativo con pérdidas dopaminenérgicas en la región de núcleos basales. Una de las principales quejas asociadas a la EP son los déficits motores de los miembros superiores (MMSS), que muchas veces resultan en dificultades de realizar las actividades de la vida diaria (AVD), lo que impacta negativamente la calidad de vida. En los últimos años surgieron nuevas tecnologías para ayudar en el proceso de rehabilitación de los MMSS en la EP, y una de ellas es la realidad virtual. Por lo tanto, este estudio tuvo como objetivo comprobar los efectos de una intervención en los MMSS utilizando un equipo de realidad virtual semiinmersivo en las AVD y en la calidad de vida de individuos con EP. Se seleccionaron a seis individuos con EP para la intervención, que fueron sometidos a evaluación por el Miniexamen del Estado Mental, la Escala de Hoehn y Yahr, la Escala Unificada de Evaluación de la Enfermedad de Parkinson (UPDRS), el Cuestionario de la Enfermedad de Parkinson (PDQ-39) y el test d’évaluation des membres supérieurs de personnes âgées (Tempa). Seis sujetos se sometieron a una intervención de 27 minutos por sesión, dos veces por semana, durante cinco semanas, utilizando el Leap Motion Controller. Hubo una mejora en la fuerza muscular, en la resistencia muscular, en las AVD y en la calidad de vida, todos con significación estadística. Así se constató que el protocolo basado en realidad virtual aplicado a los MMSS fue eficaz en la mejora de las AVD y en la calidad de vida de los individuos con EP de este estudio.

Objective: to identify the evidence related to the risks of SARS-CoV-2 exposure in healthcare workers and the interventions adopted. Method: systematic literature review in eight scientific databases and three gray literature repositories. Results: 26 studies identified as risk factors: scarcity, inadequate use or reuse of personal equipment; low adherence to precautionary measures; working in intensive care and COVID-19 sectors; long stay in a closed work environment; sharing eating areas without the use of masks and distance; low knowledge and unpreparedness for disease management. 12 studies identified as interventions: health surveillance programs with early detection, diagnosis and early withdrawal; organization of care flows; double triage; telemedicine; limitation of visits; creation of exclusive sectors for care to COVID-19; qualification and training with virtual tools and simulation. Conclusion: besides the risk of infection, individual, psychosocial and organizational factors made the healthcare work environment unsafe. Interventions should be adopted to mitigate the risks and decrease the professionals' morbidity and mortality.

Objetivo: identificar as evidências relacionadas aos riscos de exposição ao SARS-CoV-2 em profissionais de saúde e as intervenções adotadas. Método: revisão sistemática de literatura em oito bases de dados científicas e três repositórios de literatura cinzenta. Resultados: 26 estudos identificaram como fator de risco: escassez, uso inadequado ou reuso de equipamentos individuais; baixa adesão às medidas de precaução; atuação em terapia intensiva e setores COVID-19; longa permanência em ambiente de trabalho fechado; compartilhamento de espaços para alimentação sem uso de máscara e distanciamento; baixo conhecimento e despreparo para atendimento à doença. 12 estudos identificaram como intervenções: programas de vigilância em saúde com detecção precoce, diagnóstico e afastamento precoce; organização de fluxos de atendimento; triagem dupla; telemedicina; limitação de visitas; criação de setores exclusivos para atendimento à COVID-19; capacitações e treinamentos com ferramentas virtuais e simulação. Conclusão: além do risco de infecção, fatores individuais, psicossociais e organizacionais tornaram o ambiente de trabalho em saúde inseguro. Intervenções devem ser adotadas para mitigar os riscos e diminuir a morbimortalidade dos profissionais.

Resumo O objetivo deste estudo é analisar os impactos socioambientais e sanitários decorrentes do monocultivo da cana-de-açúcar em um município da Zona da Mata pernambucana. Foi realizado um mapeamento coletivo, com uso da cartografia social. Os problemas investigados foram representados graficamente em mapas, cujas versões finais foram elaboradas pelo Software ArcGIS 10.2. O estudo foi realizado no distrito de Tejucupapo, situado em Goiana, selecionado por sua proximidade dos canaviais. No ambiente observou-se aumento do desmatamento, degradação do mangue, assoreamento dos rios, diminuição do pescado e contaminação das águas e de outras culturas por agrotóxicos e esgoto. Para a saúde, foram apontados problemas respiratórios pela queima da cana, intoxicações por agrotóxicos e precariedade da rede assistencial. Na dimensão sociocultural foram identificados conflitos relacionados ao uso e à ocupação das terras, com perda, expropriação e destruição de objetos e símbolos históricos da comunidade, tendo como reflexos a perda da identidade cultural. Os problemas relacionados ao cultivo da cana afetam severamente a saúde e destroem o território tanto em seus aspectos ambientais como na própria construção identitária da comunidade, ameaçando os modos de vida tradicionais.

Abstract This study aims to analyze the socio-environmental and health effects of sugarcane crops in a county in the Zona da Mata of the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. A collective mapping was carried out with use of social cartography. The issues investigated were plotted on maps, whose final versions were elaborated by means of the ArcGIS 10.2 software. The study was carried out in the district of Tejucupapo, located in the municipality of Goiana, selected due to its proximity to the sugarcane fields. In the environment there was an increase in deforestation, mangrove degradation, silting of rivers, reduction of fish and contamination of water and other crops by pesticides and sewage. For health, respiratory problems were pointed out by sugarcane burning, pesticide poisoning and the precariousness of the governmental health care. In the socio-cultural dimension, conflicts related to land use and occupation were identified, with loss, expropriation and destruction of historical objects and symbols of the community, reflecting the loss of cultural identity. The problems related to sugarcane production severely affect human health and destroy the territory both in its environmental aspects and the very identity construction of the community, threatening traditional livelihoods.

BACKGROUND In Brazil, the yellow fever virus (YFV) is maintained in a sylvatic cycle involving wild mosquitoes and non-human primates (NHPs). The virus is endemic to the Amazon region; however, waves of epidemic expansion reaching other Brazilian states sporadically occur, eventually causing spillovers to humans. OBJECTIVES To report a surveillance effort that led to the first confirmation of YFV in NHPs in the state of Minas Gerais (MG), Southeast region, in 2021. METHODS A surveillance network was created, encompassing the technology of smartphone applications and coordinated actions of several research institutions and health services to monitor and investigate NHP epizootics. FINDINGS When alerts were spread through the network, samples from NHPs were collected and YFV infection confirmed by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and genome sequencing at an interval of only 10 days. Near-complete genomes were generated using the Nanopore MinION sequencer. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that viral genomes were related to the South American genotype I, clustering with a genome detected in the Amazon region (state of Pará) in 2017, named YFVPA/MG sub-lineage. Fast YFV confirmation potentialised vaccination campaigns. MAIN CONCLUSIONS A new YFV introduction was detected in MG 6 years after the beginning of the major outbreak reported in the state (2015-2018). The YFV strain was not related to the sub-lineages previously reported in MG. No human cases have been reported, suggesting the importance of coordinated surveillance of NHPs using available technologies and supporting laboratories to ensure a quick response and implementation of contingency measures to avoid YFV spillover to humans.

Resumo: Com o crescimento da produção de forrageiras, a demanda por sementes de alta qualidade aumenta. O condicionamento fisiológico vem como técnica para produzir sementes de alta qualidade e tolerância à estresses. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de agentes condicionantes sobre a germinação de sementes e crescimento de plântulas de Urochloa ruziziensis em condições de estresse hídrico e salino. Foi estabelecido um experimento em delineamento inteiramente casualizado testando o efeito de seisagentes condicionantes e três condições de germinação. Foram avaliados conteúdo de água, porcentagem e velocidade de germinação, viabilidade das sementes remanescentes do teste de germinação, comprimento da plântula, atividade do sistema antioxidante e a quantidade do malonaldeído. Melhor performance foi observada em sementes condicionadas submetidas ao déficit hídrico e salino do que aquelas não condicionadas. Um aumento significante foi observado na percentagem e velocidade de germinação de sementes, bem como no tamanho de raízes e caule. O nitroprussiato de sódio tem maior potencial para uso no condicionamento fisiológico de sementes de U. ruziziensis.

Abstract: As forage production increase, high-quality seeds demand follows. Priming have been reported as a technique for improve seed quality and stress tolerance. The aim of this study was to evaluate the priming agents effect on Urochloa ruziziensis seed germination and seedling establishment under water deficit and salt stress. A completely randomized experiment assessing six priming agents and three germination conditions were established. We evaluated: seed water content; germination percentage and speed index; viability of seeds remaining from the germination test; seedling length; antioxidant enzymatic activity; and malondialdehyde quantity. Seeds primed under water deficit and salt stress showed better physiological performance than dry seeds. There was a significant increase in seed germination percentage and speed and in seedling roots and shoots length. Sodium Nitroprusside shows significant potential for use in the physiological priming of U. ruziziensis seeds.
