RESUMO Objetivo Avaliar a prevalência de consumo de alimentos ultraprocessados e fatores associados em crianças matriculadas na rede pública do município de Barbacena, Minas Gerais, Brasil. Métodos Trata-se de um estudo transversal realizado com escolares de 7 a 9 anos de ambos os sexos, matriculados na rede pública estadual de ensino. O consumo alimentar foi avaliado utilizando o Questionário Alimentar do Dia Anterior e o nível de atividade física pelo Questionário de Atividade Física do Dia Anterior. Os alimentos listados foram classificados segundo a extensão e propósito do processamento industrial, conforme proposto pela classificação NOVA. Na análise estatística foram utilizados os testes χ2 de Pearson, Exato de Fisher, χ2 com correção de Yates e regressão de Poisson, estimando-se a razão de prevalência bruta e ajustada, com intervalos de confiança de 95%. Resultados A prevalência de consumo de alimentos ultraprocessados foi de 69,6%. Após análises ajustadas, o consumo de alimentos ultraprocessados foi associado à omissão do café da manhã, lanche da tarde e ceia, baixo nível de atividade física e ao consumo de alimentos de risco. Por outro lado, o consumo de alimentos in natura ou minimamente processados foi associado à maior idade, consumo de almoço, lanche da tarde, jantar e alimentos protetivos. Conclusões Verificamos uma alta prevalência no consumo de alimentos ultraprocessados, associada a hábitos alimentares não saudáveis, em crianças escolares. Abstract Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of ultra-processed food consumption and associated factors among children enrolled in the public school system of the city of Barbacena, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study conducted with schoolchildren aged 7–9 years, of both sexes, enrolled in state public schools. Food intake was assessed using the Previous Day Food Questionnaire and the level of physical activity by the Previous Day Physical Activity Questionnaire. The listed foods were classified according to the extent and purpose of industrial processing, using the NOVA classification. Pearson’s χ2 test, Fisher’s exact test, χ2 with Yates correction, and Poisson regression were used in the statistical analysis, estimating the crude and adjusted prevalence ratio, with 95% confidence intervals. Results: The prevalence of daily ultra-processed food consumption was 69.6%. After adjusted analyses, the consumption of ultra-processed food was associated with the omission of breakfast, mid-afternoon snack, supper, low physical activity, and consumption of risk foods. Abstract The objective of this manuscript was to investigate the influence of different Babassu Mesocarp Flour (BMF) contents (3, 5, 8, and 10% by weight) on the physical and surface properties of the Poly(Lactic Acid) (PLA) matrix. For this purpose, composite films were produced through flat-die extrusion processing. Visual analysis showed that the films were successfully produced by this processing method and exhibited good handling. The physical properties of the films varied as follows: width (16.41‒20.38 cm), thickness (0.14‒0.24 mm), apparent density (0.78‒1.07 g/cm3), and grammage (168.34‒255.31 g/m2). Through optical microscopy, good distribution and dispersion of the particles were observed despite the presence of some agglomerates. The film surface became rough due to the incorporated flour content, which influenced the contact angle result. The combination of PLA/BMF for producing composite films has technological potential, enabling the valorization of an industrial by-product and preserving the environment. Abstract This manuscript explored film production for food packaging using Ecovio® and natural additives (Babassu, Castor, and Cotton Vegetable Oil), emphasizing the oil’s maleinization to optimize compatibility with the polymer. The thermogravimetric analysis revealed variations in the maximum thermal decomposition temperature of maleinized vegetable oils (Thermal event II; natural oil to maleinized oil): from 402 to 338 °C (Babassu), 441 to 446 °C (Castor), and 413 to 430 °C (Cotton). The films were produced by casting, resulting in average thicknesses varying between 0.047 and 0.065 mm, and presented low surface defects. Optical micrographs showed that films with maleinized vegetable oil were more homogeneous due to maleic anhydride. Infrared spectroscopy showed that unsaturated fatty acid bonds affected the matrix and oil interaction. The presence of oils impacted the thermal stability, moisture content, and mechanical properties. This research promotes the use of renewable resources, contributing to the development of sustainable packaging. ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of dental caries in children from 18 months to 5 years of age in eastern (near urban centers) and western (far from urban centers) Parakanã, verify the influence of proximity to non-indigenous cultures, and compare with other ethnicities and non-indigenous. Material and Methods: The universe of children was examined by one researcher in a cross-sectional study. Descriptive analysis and the Mann-Whitney test (p<0.05) were performed. Results: It was observed that 68.8% (N = 53) of children from 18 to 36 months of age presented dmft = 0 (without caries), while 12.5% (N = 6) of children of five years of age presented this condition. For children between 18 and 36 months, the average dmft values were 0.74 (SD=1.91) for eastern children and 1.25 (SD=1.65) for western children. At five years of age, the average dmft values were 4.35 (SD=3.29) and 3.75 (SD=2.05) for eastern and western, respectively. Mann-Whitney test (p<0.05) showed no difference between East and Western children. When compared with non-indigenous Brazilian children, the values behaved similarly. Abstract Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of romiplostim (thrombopoietin-receptor agonist) in the treatment of pediatric immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). Methods Searches were conducted in MEDLINE, EMBASE, LILACS, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials and ClinicalTrials.gov (from January 2011 to August 2021). Randomized controlled trials (RCTs), double-blind, comparing romiplostim with a placebo in pediatric persistent or chronic ITP were included. The primary outcome was the overall response rate (platelets ≥ 50 × 109/L) in the absence of rescue therapy for at least two consecutive weeks. The secondary endpoints were the minimization of clinically significant bleeding and the necessity for rescue treatments and the maximization of safety (incidence of overall adverse events) and durable response (maintaining platelet counts for at least twelve weeks). Results Two double-blind randomized placebo-controlled trials (84 participants) were included in this systematic review. Our data showed that, compared to the placebo group, the proportion of patients achieving durable platelet response was significantly higher in the romiplostim group (p= 0.003, RR = 6.34, 95%CI = 1.89 - 21.23), as was the overall response in the romiplostim group (p= 0.002, RR = 3.62, 95%CI = 1.63 - 8.03). Significant bleeding incidents (p= 0.49), overall adverse events (p= 0.71) and the need for rescue treatment (p= 0.13) were not statistically different between the romiplostim and placebo groups. ABSTRACT In this study, we evaluated how guanidinoacetic acid (GAA) addition in diets with various metabolizable energy (ME) contents affects the performance of broiler chickens. We also estimated the equivalence of GAA in ME. We distributed 1,280 one-day-old broilers in a completely randomized design with eight treatments, eight replicates, and twenty birds per experimental unit. Treatments were based on ME levels (2,775-2,875-2,975 kcal/kg; 2,850-2,950-3,050 kcal/kg; 2,925-3,025-3,125 kcal/kg; or 3,000-3,100-3,200 kcal/kg, from 1 to 7, 8 to 21, and 22 to 42 days of age) and the inclusion of GAA (0 or 600 mg/kg). Supplementation of GAA increased weight gain in broilers at an energy level of 2,908 kcal/kg and improved feed conversion ratio (FCR) at energy levels of 2,908 and 2,983 kcal/kg. There was a linear reduction in feed intake and an improvement in FCR of broilers with increasing levels of energy in diets, with and without GAA addition. RESUMEN Objetivos: describir la experiencia de la familia en relación con la vida diaria de un miembro familiar que experimenta sufrimiento mental. Métodos: se realizó un estudio cualitativo, descriptivo y fenomenológico basado en la ontología de la experiencia de Merleau-Ponty en diez hogares de una ciudad en el estado de Bahía, Brasil, donde residen 24 participantes de los Círculos de Intersubjetividad. Las descripciones producidas fueron sometidas a la técnica de Análisis de Ambigüedad. Resultados: las descripciones se clasificaron en: la ausencia como un poder creativo del sentido de “ser” y “no ser una familia”; y la exclusión y aceptación como expresiones del sufrimiento mental en el contexto familiar. ABSTRACT Objectives: to describe the family’s experience in relation to daily life with a family member experiencing mental suffering. Methods: a qualitative, descriptive, phenomenological study grounded in Merleau-Ponty’s ontology of experience was conducted in ten households in a city in the state of Bahia, Brazil, where 24 participants of the Intersubjectivity Wheels reside. RESUMO Introdução: A etapa de polimento é uma fase decisiva no planejamento da preparação de um jovem nadador para a competição. Durante esse período, não somente as cargas de treinamento, mas também a recuperação, que inclui a qualidade do sono, devem ser constantemente monitoradas. Objetivos: Este estudo objetiva investigar o comportamento do sono como variável diretamente influenciada pela carga de treinamento durante a fase de polimento do treinamento de jovens nadadores. Métodos: O exame de polissonografia foi realizado no início da fase de polimento, como base para as variáveis do sono. Em cada sessão diária de treinamento foram medidas as variáveis de sobrecarga e de recuperação. A carga interna de treinamento foi avaliada pela sessão de PSE e a carga externa, pela quantificação do treinamento. As variáveis de recuperação foram divididas em variável de recuperação, com o questionário QTR e variáveis de sono, que incluíram sonolência pela escala de Karolinska e comportamento do sono com actígrafo e diário de sono. Conclusões: Conclui-se que não há influência significativa entre as cargas de treinamento e as variáveis do sono. Entretanto, foi observada forte associação entre TTS e CE no grupo sono irregular. ABSTRACT Introduction: Tapering is a decisive phase in planning a young swimmer's preparation for competition. During this period, not only training loads, but also recovery, which includes sleep quality, must be constantly monitored. Objective: This study aims to investigate sleep behavior as a variable directly influenced by training load during the tapering phase of training for young swimmers. Methods: A polysomnography test was performed at the beginning of the tapering phase, as a baseline for sleep variables. In each daily training session, the overload and recovery variables were measured. The internal training load was evaluated in the PSE session and the external load by quantifying the training. The recovery variables were divided into the recovery variable, assessed using the TQR questionnaire, and sleep variables, which included sleepiness, scored using the Karolinska scale, and sleep behavior, using an actigraph and a sleep diary. Conclusion: It is concluded that there is no significant influence between training loads and sleep variables. Durante este período, deben monitorearse constantemente no sólo las cargas de entrenamiento, sino también la recuperación, que incluye la calidad del sueño. Objetivo: Este estudio tiene como objetivo investigar el comportamiento del sueño como variable directamente influenciada por la carga de entrenamiento durante la fase de tapering del entrenamiento de jóvenes nadadores. Métodos: Se realizó una polisomnografía al inicio de la fase de tapering como base de las variables del sueño. En cada sesión diaria de entrenamiento se midieron las variables de sobrecarga y recuperación. RESUMO Objetivo: Aborda compreensões de cientistas da informação acerca do conceito de informação. Especificamente, discute inscrições desses especialistas à luz da epistemologia política de Bruno Latour. Método: Sob abordagem metodológica da semiótica material, utiliza a noção de “inscrição” e o procedimento de “tradução” para fins de descrição e análise bibliográficas das inscrições de especialistas estrangeiros e brasileiros via questionário. Resultado: Constata diferentes redes semiótico-materiais que compreendem o conceito de informação. Dentre outras, compreende-o como multifacetado e polissêmico, partilham conceituações próprias e outras que utilizam a própria literatura para tal conceituação. Conclusões: A construção dessas redes semiótico-materiais que compreendem o conceito de informação por meio de Bruno Latour permite apreender as relações entre saberes e interesses contraditórios do conhecimento científico, enquanto processos de identificação e diferenciação político-epistemológicos, para além de qualquer purificação disciplinar objetivista via epistemologia informacional ou epistemologia ciência da informação. ABSTRACT Objective: It addresses understandings of information scientists about the concept of information. Specifically, it discusses the inscriptions of these specialists in the light of Bruno Latour's political epistemology. Methods: Under a methodological approach of material semiotics, it uses the notion of “inscription” and the procedure of “translation” for the purpose of description and bibliographic analysis of the inscriptions of foreign and Brazilian specialists via questionnaire. Results: It notes different semiotic-material networks that comprise the concept of information. Among others, they understand it as multifaceted and polysemic, they share their own conceptualizations and others that use the literature itself for such conceptualization. Conclusions: The construction of these semiotic-material networks that comprise the concept of information through Bruno Latour allows apprehending the relationships between knowledge and contradictory interests of scientific knowledge, as processes of political-epistemological identification and differentiation, beyond any objectivist disciplinary purification via epistemology informational or information science epistemology. ABSTRACT Growth analysis (GA) is used to quantify plant development based on morphophysiological changes. GA is a practical tool to evaluate nursery techniques to make them more efficient. The objective of this essay was to quantity measure morphophysiological growth variables of Eucalyptus grandis x Eucalyptus urophylla and Hymenaea courbaril (jatoba) container seedlings to characterize growth stages. The essay was conducted in a shade house located in the western state of Paraná. GA analyses were performed at 10-day intervals on seedlings of both species. When evaluating Hymenaea courbaril seedlings results indicated increased values of height, diameter, root and shoot dry biomass up to 130 days after emergence (DAE). Seedling growth stage-based GA were 70, 100 and 130 DAE for the Eucalyptus hybrid and 50, 80, and 110 DAE for jatoba which presented accelerated, intermediate and reduced seedling growth.

The discussion about what is the quality of Early Childhood Education (ECE) becomes increasingly essential in societies where the education of children is not a state priority and where the guarantee of the right to education and adequate working conditions for the female teachers are not guaranteed. The objective is to analyze the quality of ECE, which emerges from teaching practices in contexts of collective life, considering data from a qualitative research with female teachers who teach in day care centers and preschools, in a Brazilian municipality, as well as national and international standards on the quality of ECE. It is concluded that the quality of ECE that emerges from the analyzed teaching practices explains dimensions with different levels of quality. Initiatives were observed that seek to promote quality through actions undertaken by women teachers in terms of their training, adaptation of physical spaces and the gathering of materials necessary for the development of pedagogical work with children, but which are not yet available. at the level required by the quality parameters established in national guidelines and guidelines for ECE. It is reiterated that the achievement of quality is intrinsically linked to the participation and political-pedagogical decisions of various subjects in the school and society, as well as the principles, foundations and instruments of intersectoral public policies formulated in dialogue with historically produced knowledge about of which the indicators for a quality ECE say.

La discusión sobre que es la calidad de la Educación Infantil (EI) se vuelve cada vez más imprescindible en sociedades donde no es prioridad del estado la educación de los niños y tampoco están asegurados el derecho a la educación y las condiciones laborales adecuadas para los docentes. El objetivo es analizar la calidad de la EI, que emerge de las prácticas docentes en contextos de vida colectiva, considerando datos de una investigación cualitativa con maestras actuantes en la educación inicial, en un municipio brasileño, además de estudios nacionales e internacionales sobre la calidad de la EI. Se concluye que la calidad que emerge de las prácticas docentes analizadas evidencia dimensiones con diferentes niveles. Han sido vistas iniciativas que buscan promover la calidad a través de acciones emprendidas por las maestras en cuanto a su formación, la adecuación de los espacios físicos y la elección de los materiales necesarios para el desarrollo del trabajo pedagógico con los niños, pero que aún no se encuentran en el nivel requerido en los parámetros de calidad establecidos por las directrices nacionales para EI. Se reitera que la calidad deseada está intrínsecamente relacionada a la participación y a las decisiones políticopedagógicas de los diversos sujetos de la escuela y de la sociedad, así como a los principios, fundamentos e instrumentos de las políticas públicas intersectoriales formuladas en diálogo con los saberes producidos históricamente sobre cuales son los indicadores para una EI de calidad.

Abstract Objective: Lysosomal acid lipase deficiency (LAL-D) is an underdiagnosed autosomal recessive disease with onset between the first years of life and adulthood. Early diagnosis is crucial for effective therapy and long-term survival. The objective of this article is to recognize warning signs among the clinical and laboratory characteristics of LAL-D in pediatric patients through a scope review. Sources: Electronic searches in the Embase, PubMed, Livivo, LILACS, Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar, Open Gray, and ProQuest Dissertations and Theses databases. The dataset included observational studies with clinical and laboratory characteristics of infants, children and adolescents diagnosed with lysosomal acid lipase deficiency by enzyme activity testing or analysis of mutations in the lysosomal acid lipase gene (LIPA). The reference selection process was performed in two stages. The references were selected by two authors, and the data were extracted in June 2020. Summary of the findings: The initial search returned 1593 studies, and the final selection included 108 studies from 30 countries encompassing 206 patients, including individuals with Wolman disease and cholesteryl ester storage disease (CESD). The most prevalent manifestations in both spectra of the disease were hepatomegaly, splenomegaly, anemia, dyslipidemia, and elevated transaminases. Conclusions: Vomiting, diarrhea, jaundice, and splenomegaly may be correlated, and may serve as a starting point for investigating LAL-D. Familial lymphohistiocytosis should be part of the differential diagnosis with LAL-D, and all patients undergoing upper gastrointestinal endoscopy should be submitted to intestinal biopsy.

Abstract We present this manuscript as a methodological approach and general guidelines for geochemical mapping and background/baseline projects for environmental assessment in tropical areas. A case study was carried out in the Itacaiúnas River watershed (IRW), Eastern Amazon, to fill in a gap in knowledge on the distribution of chemical elements, particularly those potentially toxic, in the near-surface environment of the area. The high-impact results of this research project revealed the need for similar scientific investigation across the globe with the implementation of a systematic methodology. The study shows, for example, the importance of well-planned field activities, multi-medium sampling, analytical methods, laboratory procedures, database construction, and general aspects of data processing and statistical treatment. The importance of this contribution is that it can be used as a reference in support of geospatial analysis in research within the scope of geochemical mapping and background-baseline projects. Abstract Exogenous application of stress inductors can facilitate and accelerate some biological responses that promote plant defense. The objective of the experiment was to quantify some compounds linked to nitrogen metabolism as a function of the application of salicylic acid in Schinus terebinthifolius seedlings submitted to water deficit. The experiment was constituted of four doses of salicylic acid and three periods of water deficit. Quantifications included levels of nitrate, free ammonium, total soluble amino acids, proteins, proline, glycine-betaine and relative water content. When evaluating the relative water content in seedlings of Schinus terebinthifolius at 8 days, it was observed that the dose of 200 mg L-1. Seedlings showed physiological responses when subjected to doses of salicylic acid of 200 and 300 mg L-1. The increase in concentration of proline and glycine are advantageous, because these substances act as osmoregulators and cell protectors against deficit hydrical.
