Resumen Este estudio investiga la influencia de los grupos minoritarios -la presencia de mujeres en juntas directivas- en la divulgación de información sobre Responsabilidad Social Corporativa (RSC) relacionada con el género. Se recopilaron datos de 1.863 empresas de 52 países para el período 2010-2022. Utilizando las regresiones agrupadas de OLS, se encontró que la presencia de mujeres en porcentajes satisfactorios, i.e., grupos equilibrados e inclinados, afecta positivamente la divulgación de la RSC relacionada con el género; sin embargo, en grupos con un porcentaje bajo, i.e., grupos uniformes y sesgados, influye negativamente. Este estudio contribuye al tema discutiendo la importancia de la presencia de grupos minoritarios en las juntas directivas basado en el tokenismo; además, apoya la mejora de las políticas públicas que promuevan la igualdad de género en dichas juntas.

Abstract This study investigates the influence of minority groups -the presence of women on corporate boards- on the disclosure of gender-related Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) information. Data from 1,863 companies from 52 countries were collected for the period 2010-2022. Using the Pooled OLS regressions, it was found that the presence of women in satisfactory percentages, i.e., balanced and inclined groups, positively affects the disclosure of gender-related CSR; however, in groups with a low percentage, i.e., uniform and skewed groups, it negatively influences such disclosure. This study contributes to the topic by discussing the importance of minority group's presence on corporate boards, drawing on Tokenism. Additionally, it supports the improvement of public policies that promote gender equality on boards.

Resumo O estudo investiga a influência dos grupos minoritários, relacionados à presença feminina no Conselho de Administração, sobre a divulgação de informações de Responsabilidade Social Corporativa (RSC) relacionadas ao gênero. Coletaram-se dados de 1.863 empresas de 52 países no período 2010-2022. Por meio de regressões Pooled OLS, verificou-se que a presença feminina em percentual satisfatório, em grupos "equilibrado" e "inclinado", afeta positivamente a divulgação de RSC relativa ao gênero. Porém, nos grupos com baixo percentual, "uniformes" e "enviesados", influencia negativamente a divulgação. O estudo contribui ao discutir a importância da presença dos grupos minoritários no Conselho de Administração, apoiando-se na Teoria do Tokenismo. Ademais, dá suporte ao aperfeiçoamento de políticas públicas que promovam a igualdade de gênero nos conselhos.

RESUMO Objetivo Descrever o perfil dos casos de mpox na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, entre junho e novembro de 2022. Métodos Estudo descritivo de dados secundários das fichas de notificação de mpox. Foram analisados dados socioeconômicos, clínicos e espaciais. Resultados Dos 928 casos, 93,7% foram do sexo masculino, 85,0% homem cisgênero, 65,6% homossexual, 41,8% entre 30 e 39 anos e 41,0% brancos. Apresentavam imunodepressão por doença 34,5%, e 41,9% informaram sorologia positiva prévia para vírus da imunodeficiência humana. Os sinais e sintomas mais prevalentes foram: lesões cutâneas (96,6%), especialmente com manifestações múltiplas (67,8%) e em região genital (46,1%), além de febre (58,3%), adenomegalia (43,3%) e cefaleia (38,7%). A maioria das notificações ocorreu na rede pública (81,3%) e na atenção hospitalar (51,3%). Conclusão O estudo revelou maior incidência de mpox entre homens cisgênero, autodeclarados de cor branca e homossexual. A maioria dos casos teve apresentação leve evoluindo para cura sem hospitalização.

ABSTRACT Objective To describe the profile of cases of mpox in the city of Rio de Janeiro between June and November 2022. Methods This was a descriptive study of secondary data obtained from mpox notification forms. Socioeconomic, clinical and spatial data were analyzed. Results Of the 928 cases, 93.7% were male, 85.0% cisgender male, 65.6% homosexual, 41.8% between 30 and 39 years old, and 41.0% were of White race/skin color. A total of 34.5% had immunosuppression due to illness, and 41.9% reported their HIV status as being positive. The most prevalent signs and symptoms were: skin lesions (96.6%), especially with multiple manifestations (67.8%) in the genital region (46.1%), in addition to fever (58.3%), adenomegaly (43.3%) and headache (38.7%). Most notifications occurred in public services (81.3%) and in hospital care (51.3%). Conclusion The study revealed high incidence of mpox, especially among young, cisgender and homosexual men. Most cases were mild, with genital lesions, progressing to cure without hospitalization. Person-to-person transmission was predominant.

RESUMO A pandemia de covid-19 gerou um numeroso volume de produções científicas com diferentes níveis de qualidade. A velocidade com que o conhecimento era produzido e compartilhado a nível mundial impôs à gestão em saúde o desafio de buscar meios de identificar as melhores evidências disponíveis para subsidiar suas decisões. Em resposta a este desafio, o Departamento de Ciência e Tecnologia do Ministério da Saúde do Brasil estabeleceu um serviço para elaborar e disponibilizar conhecimento científico abordando questões prioritárias de saúde pública no cenário da pandemia. Entre os temas abordados estão tratamentos medicamentosos, medidas não farmacológicas, testagem, reinfecção e resposta imunológica, imunização, fisiopatologia, síndrome pós-covid e eventos adversos. Neste artigo, discute-se os pontos fortes e lições aprendidas, bem como os desafios e perspectivas que fornecem um exemplo real sobre como disponibilizar as melhores evidências científicas, em tempo hábil e de forma oportuna, para auxiliar o processo decisório durante uma emergência em saúde pública.

ABSTRACT The COVID-19 pandemic generated a large volume of scientific productions with different quality levels. The speed with which knowledge was produced and shared worldwide imposed on health management the challenge of seeking ways to identify the best available evidence to support its decisions. In response to this challenge, the Department of Science and Technology of the Brazilian Ministry of Health started offering a service to produce and provide scientific knowledge addressing priority public health issues in the pandemic scenario. Drug treatments, non-pharmacological measures, testing, reinfection and immunological response, immunization, pathophysiology, post-COVID syndrome and adverse events are among the topics covered. In this article, we discuss the strengths and lessons learned, as well as the challenges and perspectives that present a real example of how to offer the best scientific evidence in a timely manner in order to assist the decision-making process during a public health emergency.

Resumo A fração lignoide (LF) de Ocotea fasciculata, rica em yangambina e seu epímero, epi-yangambina, apresentou atividade promissora contra Leishmania sp. Posteriormente, a LF foi incorporada a uma nanopartícula lipídica sólida (SLN), visando aumentar a eficácia farmacológica e diminuir a toxicidade. Nesse sentido, o presente estudo foi realizado para avaliar o potencial citotóxico e toxicogenético de LF e LF-SLN em células de mamíferos in vitro e in vivo. A atividade citotóxica foi avaliada em linhagem celular humana não-tumoral (GM07492A) e o potencial toxicogenético in vitro foi avaliado em linhagem celular de fibroblastos pulmonares de hamster chinês (V79) e em camundongos Swiss. LF-SLN não apresentou efeito citotóxico na maior concentração testada, 5.000 µg/mL, enquanto LF apresentou IC50 equivalente a 1.047 ± 4,50 µg/mL. As frequências de micronúcleos observadas in vitro em células de mamíferos e in vivo tratadas com diferentes concentrações de LF e LF-SLN não diferiram significativamente do grupo controle negativo. Abstract The lignoid fraction (LF) of Ocotea fasciculata, which is rich in yangambin and its epimer, epi-yangambin, showed promising activity against Leishmania sp. Subsequently, LF was incorporated into a solid lipid nanoparticle (SLN) in order to increase its pharmacological efficacy and decrease toxicity. In this regard, the present study was carried out to evaluate the cytotoxic and toxicogenetic potential of LF and LF-SLN in mammalian cells in vitro and in vivo. The cytotoxic activity was evaluated in a non-tumor human cell line (GM07492A) and the toxicogenetic potential was assessed in vitro in a Chinese hamster lung fibroblast cell line (V79) and in Swiss mice. LF-SLN showed no cytotoxic effect at the highest concentration tested (5,000 µg/mL), while LF exhibited an IC50 equivalent to 1,047 ± 4.50 µg/mL. RESUMO: Descrevem-se os achados clínicos, epidemiológicos e anatomopatológicos das intoxicações por anti-helmínticos em pequenos ruminantes diagnosticadas no Hospital Veterinário da Universidade Federal de Campina Grande, Patos, Paraíba, durante o período de janeiro de 2000 a dezembro de 2022. Foram realizadas 1.928 necropsias de pequenos ruminantes, sendo 1.032 caprinos e 896 ovinos. Destes, foram identificados quatro surtos de intoxicação por anti-helmínticos nessas espécies: um surto de intoxicação por ivermectina em ovino, um surto de disofenol em caprinos e ovinos e dois surtos por nitroxinil em caprinos. Essas intoxicações representaram 0,78% e 0,23% das doenças de caprinos e ovinos diagnosticadas na rotina, respectivamente. Na intoxicação por ivermectina o animal apresentava sinais clínicos neurológicos e não foram observadas alterações macroscópicas e histopatológicas. Nos surtos de disofenol e nitroxinil, os animais demonstravam anorexia, hipertermia, taquicardia, tremores, dispneia, incoordenação e rigidez de membros. Macroscopicamente observou-se lesões hepáticas e renais associadas a alterações circulatórias como hemorragias e edemas. Microscopicamente observou-se necrose e degeneração de hepatócitos e das células epiteliais tubulares associadas a hemorragia e congestão. ABSTRACT: The clinical, epidemiological and anatomopathological findings of anthelmintic poisoning in small ruminants diagnosed at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Campina Grande, Patos, Paraíba, from January 2000 to December 2022 are described. A total of 1,928 necropsies were carried out on small ruminants, of which 1,032 were goats and 896 sheep. Four outbreaks of anthelmintic poisoning were identified in these species: one outbreak of ivermectin in sheep, one outbreak of disophenol in goats and sheep and two outbreaks of nitroxinil in goats. These intoxications accounted for 0.78% and 0.23% of goat and sheep diseases diagnosed routinely. In the case of ivermectin poisoning, the animal had neurological clinical signs, and no macroscopic or histopathological alterations were observed. In the outbreaks of disophenol and nitroxinil, the animals showed anorexia, hyperthermia, tachycardia, tremors, dyspnea, incoordination and limb rigidity. Macroscopically, there were liver and kidney lesions associated with circulatory alterations, such as hemorrhages and edema. Microscopically, necrosis and degeneration of hepatocytes and tubular epithelial cells associated with hemorrhage and congestion were observed. The prevalence of these intoxications in small ruminants is considered low in the Semi-arid Northeast, but outbreaks can occur with high lethality in herds. Resumo O objetivo deste estudo consistiu em refletir sobre os desafios que se impuseram frente à atuação dos Agentes Comunitários de Saúde (ACS) durante a pandemia do Covid-19 no cenário de comunidades ribeirinhas amazônidas. Objetivou-se, ainda, verificar quais ações foram realizadas pelos ACS, visando dirimir a propagação do vírus. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva qualitativa, em que os dados foram coletados a partir de um questionário fechado semiestruturado. Para análise dos dados, utilizamos o software Iramuteq, com análises de Classificação Hierárquica Descendente e árvore de similitude, obtivemos sete classes que foram analisadas e agrupadas em: (1) providências tomadas e falta de testes; (2) descrença na pandemia, o medo e falta de valorização; (3) falta de materiais de apoio; e (4) orientações da covid-19 e não cumprimento das medidas de segurança, por parte dos comunitários. Verificou-se ainda que as Políticas Públicas, visando a melhoria do trabalho dos ACS dentro do território amazônico, são de fundamental importância, visto que os desafios diários no território ficaram ainda mais evidentes durante a pandemia. Dessa maneira, é notável a necessidade da revisão e reformulação das políticas públicas existentes na atenção básica, para que sejam contempladas as especificidades espaciais das áreas amazônicas.

Abstract This study aimed to reflect on the challenges community health workers (CHW) faced during the COVID-19 pandemic regarding Amazonian riverside communities. It aimed to find what actions CHW took to prevent the spread of the virus. This qualitative descriptive study collected its data by a semi-structured closed questionnaire that was applied to CHW. To analyze the data, this study used Iramuteq, with descending hierarchical classification and similarity tree analyses, which obtained seven classes that were analyzed and grouped into: (1) Taken measures and lack of testing, (2) Disbelief in the pandemic, fear, and lack of appreciation, (3) Lack of support materials, and (4) Guidance from COVID-19 and non-compliance with safety measures by community members. This study found that public policies to improve the work of CHW in the Amazon are of fundamental importance since the pandemic further evinced the daily local challenges, thus notably necessitating the review and reformulation of existing public policies in primary care so they consider the spatial specificities of Amazonian areas.

RESUMO Objetivo: Identificar como o estresse mensurado por cortisol salivar durante a educação baseada em simulação clínica ou simulação e outro método de ensino, tem impacto no desempenho. Método: Revisão sistemática da associação do cortisol com o desempenho em simulações. Foram utilizadas as seguintes bases de dados: PubMed, LIVIVO, Scopus, EMBASE, Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS) e Web of Science. Pesquisa adicional de literatura cinzenta foi realizada no Google Scholar e no Proquest. As buscas ocorreram em 20 de março de 2023. O risco de viés dos ensaios clínicos randomizados, foi avaliado pela ferramenta Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias Tool (RoB 2). Foram critérios de inclusão: estudos de simulação com coleta de cortisol salivar e avaliação de desempenho, publicados em qualquer período em português, inglês e espanhol. ABSTRACT Objective: To identify how stress measured by salivary cortisol during clinical simulation-based education, or simulation and another teaching method, impacts performance. Method: Systematic review of the association between cortisol and performance in simulations. The following databases were used: PubMed, LIVIVO, Scopus, EMBASE, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS) and Web of Science. Additional searches of gray literature were carried out on Google Scholar and Proquest. The searches took place on March 20, 2023. The risk of bias of randomized clinical trials was assessed using the Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias Tool (RoB 2). Inclusion criteria were: simulation studies with salivary cortisol collection and performance evaluation, published in any period in Portuguese, English and Spanish. ABSTRACT Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.), a globally significant species, faces substantial economic losses due to pest insects. However, exploiting dwarf germplasm for pest resistance, particularly the UFU MC TOM1 lineage, remains underexplored. The objectives of this study were to select backcross populations from dwarf tomato plants through direct and indirect selection and to elucidate whether there are consequences in resistance level as backcross generations progress aiming at a genetic background of interest. Backcross populations 1, 2, and 3 of dwarf tomato plants were obtained. In the conducted experiment, featuring 20 treatments and four repetitions in a randomized block design, we assessed foliar injuries and herbivory through image analysis. Additionally, we quantified the content of acylsugars, conducted chromatographic analysis, and analyzed the metabolomic profile in the leaflets. Promisingly, the UFU 13_1 dwarf plant population showed potential for enhancing genetic improvement programs targeting pest insect resistance. Moreover, the progression of backcross generations yielded varied resistance levels, likely influenced by inheritance patterns and acylsugar content. The UFU MC TOM1 line, distinguished by its high acylsugar content, exhibited robust resistance against both the tomato leafminer (Tuta absoluta Meyrick 1917) and the leafminer (Liriomyza huidobrensis Blanchard). RESUMO A pandemia de covid-19 gerou um numeroso volume de produções científicas com diferentes níveis de qualidade. A velocidade com que o conhecimento era produzido e compartilhado a nível mundial impôs à gestão em saúde o desafio de buscar meios de identificar as melhores evidências disponíveis para subsidiar suas decisões. ABSTRACT The COVID-19 pandemic generated a large volume of scientific productions with different quality levels. The speed with which knowledge was produced and shared worldwide imposed on health management the challenge of seeking ways to identify the best available evidence to support its decisions. In response to this challenge, the Department of Science and Technology of the Brazilian Ministry of Health started offering a service to produce and provide scientific knowledge addressing priority public health issues in the pandemic scenario. RESUMO Objetivos: analisar a tendência e os fatores associados à recusa familiar de doação de pele para transplante. Métodos: estudo transversal desenvolvido no Estado de São Paulo com os termos de autorização familiar firmados entre 2001 e 2020. As variáveis analisadas foram: ano, idade, sexo, causa do óbito e tipo da instituição. Os dados foram analisados por meio de regressão linear e logística múltipla, com o Odds Ratio estimado, adotando-se p<0,05 como significância estatística. Resultados: 1.355 indivíduos recusaram a doação de pele. A tendência de recusas foi decrescente (2001-2009) nas faixas etárias de 0-11 anos e de 12-19 anos e crescente na faixa de ≥60 anos. A tendência permaneceu decrescente (2010-2020) na faixa etária de 0-11 anos e crescente na de 20-40 anos. ABSTRACT Objectives: to analyze the trends and factors associated with family refusal of skin donation for transplantation. Methods: this cross-sectional study was conducted in the State of São Paulo, with family authorization terms collected from 2001 to 2020. The variables analyzed included year, age, gender, cause of death, and type of institution. Data were analyzed using linear and multiple logistic regression, with the Odds Ratio estimated at p<0.05 for statistical significance. Results: 1,355 individuals refused skin donation. The trend of refusals decreased between 2001 and 2009 in the age groups of 0-11 years and 12-19 years, but increased in the group aged ≥60 years. This trend continued to decrease in the 0-11 years group from 2010 to 2020, and increased in the 20-40 years group. Males and the age groups of 20-40 years, 41-59 years, and ≥60 years exhibited 27%, 34%, 47%, and 53% lower chances of refusal, respectively. Métodos: estudio transversal desarrollado en el Estado de São Paulo con los términos de autorización familiar firmados entre 2001 y 2020. Las variables analizadas fueron: año, edad, sexo, causa del deceso y tipo de institución. Los datos fueron analizados mediante regresión lineal y logística múltiple, con la estimación del Odds Ratio, adoptando p<0,05 como significancia estadística. RESUMO Objetivos: compreender a perspectiva de enfermeiros acerca da acessibilidade de gestantes em situação de rua ao cuidado pré-natal. Métodos: estudo qualitativo, com análise baseada no conceito de acessibilidade. Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas, com 11 enfermeiros que trabalham no Consultório na Rua na região Norte do Brasil. Resultados: enfermeiros se deparam com barreiras geográficas e situações de perigo nas regiões de fronteira, reconhecendo que há um contexto de violência física, sexual, psicológica que envolve gestantes em situação de rua que procuram atendimento no Consultório na Rua. A atuação dos enfermeiros do Consultório na Rua ocorre articulada a outros serviços da Rede de Atenção à Saúde. A implementação de medidas educativas é uma estratégia potente, assim como o estabelecimento de vínculos com mulheres. ABSTRACT Objectives: to understand nurse perspectives regarding homeless pregnant women’s accessibility to prenatal care. Methods: a qualitative study, with analysis based on the concept of accessibility. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with 11 nurses who work at the Street Outreach Office in northern Brazil. Results: nurses are faced with geographic barriers and dangerous situations in border regions, recognizing that there is a context of physical, sexual and psychological violence that involves homeless pregnant women who seek care at the Street Outreach Office. Métodos: estudio cualitativo, con análisis basado en el concepto de accesibilidad. Se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas con 11 enfermeros que trabajan en Consultorio en la Calle en el Norte de Brasil. Resultados: los enfermeros enfrentan barreras geográficas y situaciones peligrosas en regiones fronterizas, reconociendo que existe un contexto de violencia física, sexual y psicológica que involucra a mujeres embarazadas en situación de calle que acuden a atención en Consultorio en la Calle. Resumo O objetivo deste estudo consistiu em refletir sobre os desafios que se impuseram frente à atuação dos Agentes Comunitários de Saúde (ACS) durante a pandemia do Covid-19 no cenário de comunidades ribeirinhas amazônidas. Objetivou-se, ainda, verificar quais ações foram realizadas pelos ACS, visando dirimir a propagação do vírus. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva qualitativa, em que os dados foram coletados a partir de um questionário fechado semiestruturado. Para análise dos dados, utilizamos o software Iramuteq, com análises de Classificação Hierárquica Descendente e árvore de similitude, obtivemos sete classes que foram analisadas e agrupadas em: (1) providências tomadas e falta de testes; (2) descrença na pandemia, o medo e falta de valorização; (3) falta de materiais de apoio; e (4) orientações da covid-19 e não cumprimento das medidas de segurança, por parte dos comunitários. Verificou-se ainda que as Políticas Públicas, visando a melhoria do trabalho dos ACS dentro do território amazônico, são de fundamental importância, visto que os desafios diários no território ficaram ainda mais evidentes durante a pandemia. Abstract This study aimed to reflect on the challenges community health workers (CHW) faced during the COVID-19 pandemic regarding Amazonian riverside communities. It aimed to find what actions CHW took to prevent the spread of the virus. This qualitative descriptive study collected its data by a semi-structured closed questionnaire that was applied to CHW. To analyze the data, this study used Iramuteq, with descending hierarchical classification and similarity tree analyses, which obtained seven classes that were analyzed and grouped into: (1) Taken measures and lack of testing, (2) Disbelief in the pandemic, fear, and lack of appreciation, (3) Lack of support materials, and (4) Guidance from COVID-19 and non-compliance with safety measures by community members. ABSTRACT Objective Determining the etiology of hyperprolactinemia is fundamental for selecting the most appropriate treatment strategy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness and accuracy of prolactin levels in predicting the etiology of nonphysiological hyperprolactinemia. Subjects and methods In this retrospective study, we reviewed medical records of patients with nonphysiological hyperprolactinemia seen at two neuroendocrine reference centers located in Recife, Brazil, from January 2000 to December 2019. Results The study included 770 patients aged 12-73 years (65% female). The three most frequent etiologies of hyperprolactinemia were prolactinomas (n = 263; 34.2%), drug-induced hyperprolactinemia (n = 160; 20.8%), and macroprolactinemia (n = 120; 15.6%). The highest mean prolactin levels were observed in cases of prolactinomas and idiopathic hyperprolactinemia. Most patients with hyperprolactinemia due to other etiologies had prolactin levels < 100 ng/mL, but these levels were also found in 16.5% of patients with microproplactinomas and in 20% of those with idiopathic hyperprolactinemia. Likewise, prolactin levels largely overlapped among patients with microprolactinomas, macroprolactinemia, and drug-induced hyperprolactinemia. Notably, prolactin levels > 250 ng/mL enabled a clear distinction between the etiologies of macroprolactinoma and nonfunctioning pituitary adenoma. Moreover, prolactin levels > 500 ng/mL were highly suggestive of macroprolactinomas, although they were also found in very few patients (<2%) with microprolactinomas or drug-induced hyperprolactinemia. RESUMO Microrganismos endofíticos em plantas de alface têm recebido pouca atenção pelo seu potencial controle biológico de fitopatógenos. Este estudo teve como objetivo isolar, identificar e selecionar bactérias endofíticas de plântulas de alface cv. Brava e Creta, antagonistas do fungo fitopatogênico Alternaria sp. (ALT23) em meio de cultura através de interação direta. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 11 x 2, com 11 tratamentos [Controle - ALT23 e 10 isolados bacterianos previamente selecionados] e dois períodos de avaliação (5º e 8º dia após a inoculação) com quatro repetições. As sequências do gene 16S rDNA dos isolados revelaram uma alta similaridade com Bacillus tequilensis KCTC 13622, B. subtilis NCIB 3610, B. velezenzis CR-502, B. siamensis KCTC 13613 e Paenibacillus polymyxa ATCC 842. ABSTRACT Endophytic microorganisms in lettuce plants have received little attention for their potential biological control of phytopathogens. This study aimed to isolate, identify, and select endophytic bacteria from lettuce seedlings cv. Brava and Creta, antagonistic to the phytopathogenic fungus Alternaria sp. (ALT23) in culture media through direct interaction. The experimental design was completely randomized in an 11 x 2 factorial scheme, with 11 treatments [Control - ALT23 and 10 previously selected bacterial isolates] and two evaluation periods (the 5th and 8th day after inoculation) with four replications each. The 16S rDNA gene sequences of the isolates revealed a high similarity with Bacillus tequilensis KCTC 13622, B. subtilis NCIB 3610, B. velezenzis CR-502, B. siamensis KCTC 13613, and Paenibacillus polymyxa ATCC 842.
