RESUMO Devido às importantes funções do cálcio na fisiologia vegetal, a suplementação deste nutriente pode ser uma estratégia viável para aumentar a tolerância das plantas à salinidade. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar as trocas gasosas e o crescimento de cultivares de rúcula de folhas largas cultivadas em fibra de coco submetidas ao estresse salino. Quatro soluções nutritivas [(S1-solução nutritiva padrão (condutividade elétrica da água - CEa de 0,5 dS m-1; S2- solução nutritiva utilizando água salina com NaCl a 3,5 dS m-1; S3-S2 enriquecida com Ca(NO3)2 a 50%; S4-S2 enriquecido com Ca(NO3)2 a 100%, obtendo valores de 2,3, 5,1, 5,5 e 5,9 dS m-1, para S1, S2, S3 e S4, respectivamente], e duas cultivares de rúcula. (Donatella e Gigante Folha Larga), dispostas em esquema fatorial 2 × 4, com três repetições, foram estudadas. As plantas foram colhidas 40 dias após a semeadura e avaliadas quanto às seguintes variáveis: altura de planta, número de folhas, área foliar, massa fresca total, massa seca total, área foliar específica, suculência foliar, índice relativo de clorofila, condutância estomática, taxa de assimilação de CO2, taxa de transpiração, concentração interna de CO2 e eficiência instantânea do uso da água e eficiência intrínseca de carboxilação. A cultivar Gigante Folha Larga foi mais tolerante à salinidade da solução nutritiva. ABSTRACT Due to the important functions of calcium in plant physiology, supplementation of this nutrient may be a viable strategy to increase the tolerance of plants to salinity. Thus, the objective in this study was to evaluate the gas exchange and growth of broad-leaf arugula cultivars cultivated in coconut fiber subjected to salt stress. RESUMO O potássio é um nutriente com potencial para aumentar a tolerância das plantas ao estresse salino. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a produção e a qualidade da couve submetida ao estresse salino e às concentrações de potássio em ambiente protegido. O delineamento experimental adotado foi em parcela subdivididas, sendo as parcelas compostas por cinco soluções nutritivas (tratamento controle, S1 - solução nutritiva padrão usando água de baixa salinidade, 0,5 dS m-1 (500 mg L-1 de KNO3), e quatro soluções nutritivas preparadas em águas salobras (3,5 dS m-1) contendo quatro concentrações de KNO3 (S2 - 500 mg L-1, S3 - 625 mg L-1, S4 - 750 mg L-1, S5 - 1.000 mg L-1). As subparcelas foram representadas por duas cultivares de couve folha (Manteiga e Manteiga da Geórgia). Foram avaliadas as variáveis de produção de folhas e qualidades físicas e químicas pós-colheita. A solução nutritiva salinizada com adição de NaCl (S2) reduziu a produção, mas não reduziu a qualidade pós-colheita da couve folha. ABSTRACT Potassium is a nutrient with the potential to increase plant tolerance to salt stress. The aim of this study was to evaluate the production and quality of kale subjected to salt stress and potassium concentrations in a protected environment. The experimental design was in split plots, with plots composed of five nutrient solutions (control treatment, S1 - standard nutrient solution prepared in low-salinity water, 0.5 dS m-1 (500 mg L-1 of KNO3), and four nutrient solutions prepared in brackish waters (3.5 dS m-1) containing four concentrations of KNO3 (S2 - 500 mg L-1, S3 - 625 mg L-1, S4 - 750 mg L-1, S5 - 1,000 mg L-1), and subplots represented by two leaf kale cultivars (Manteiga and Manteiga da Geórgia). Abstract The objective of this study was to examine the impact of a high-fat finishing diet on the in vivo performance, anatomical and carcass characteristics, and meat quality of adult culled goats. Over a period of 28 days leading up to slaughter, eighteen adult culled goats were subjected to a finishing diet provided in quantities sufficient to meet 3.0 times the nutritional requirements of adult non-dairy maintenance goats. The female goats were divided into two groups: one fed with the baseline diet without fat supplementation (n = 9) and the other fed a diet concentrated supplemented with whole full-fat linseed (n = 9). The diets varied in fat content (2.8% vs. 8.4% DM). The high-fat group exhibited a higher dry matter intake compared to the control group (+37%), along with elevated plasma cholesterol and triglyceride levels. The control group experienced a significant decrease in daily weight gain between the second and final week of the finishing period (-70%), in contrast to the increase observed in the high-fat group (+59%). At slaughter, no differences were noted between the groups in anatomical and carcass characteristics. Additionally, no differences were found between the diets regarding proximate composition, pH, yellow color component, and lightness of loin. The high-fat group exhibited a higher redness of loin. The inclusion of high-fat levels in finishing diets for culled adult goats allows for increased feed intake and performance but does not appear to affect carcass or meat quality.

RESUMO Técnicas alternativas de cultivo sem solo são difundidas; no entanto, estudos comparando os sistemas hidropônicos ainda precisam ser estudados, principalmente em regiões semiáridas. O presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a efeito de sistemas hidropônicos na produtividade e qualidade de cultivares de alface submetidas a diferentes condutividades elétricas da solução nutritiva. A pesquisa foi conduzida em casa de vegetação, adotando delineamento inteiramente casualizado. em esquema fatorial 2 × 2 × 3, sendo duas cultivares de alface (Cinderela e Rubinela), duas condutividades elétricas (2,90 e 1,6 dS m-1), e três sistemas hidropônicos (NFT, semi-hidropônico e floating), com três repetições. ABSTRACT Alternative techniques for cultivation without soil are widespread; however, studies comparing hydroponic systems still need to be studied, mainly in semi-arid regions. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of hydroponic systems on the yield and quality of lettuce cultivars subjected to different electrical conductivities of the nutrient solution. The research was conducted in a greenhouse, adopting a completely randomized design in a 2 × 2 × 3 factorial scheme, being two lettuce cultivars (Cinderela and Rubinela), two electrical conductivities (2.90 and 1.6 dS m-1), and three hydroponics systems (NFT, semi-hydroponic, and floating), with three replications. RESUMO A pinheira (Annona squamosa L.) é uma frutífera sensível à salinidade. Uma das alternativas para minimizar os efeitos deletérios do estresse salino é a adoção de práticas de manejo da fertilização mineral, promovendo o aumento da tolerância da cultura aos sais. Portanto, o objetivo foi avaliar as doses de NPK para mitigar o estresse salino em mudas de pinheira irrigadas com água residual salina. O experimento foi realizado em casa de vegetação, em delineamento de blocos casualizados, em esquema fatorial 3 × 5, correspondendo a três águas de irrigação (água de abastecimento local de 0,53 dS m-1 de condutividade elétrica (controle); rejeito salino da dessalinização de 3,50 dS m-1; efluente de piscicultura de 3,50 dS m-1) e cinco proporções da recomendação de NPK (25, 50, 75, 100 e 125% da recomendação de fertilização), com quatro repetições. O crescimento, acúmulo de biomassa e nutrientes foram avaliados. A irrigação com rejeito salino e efluente de piscicultura restringe o crescimento das mudas de pinha, independentemente da dose de NPK utilizada. A homeostase iônica das mudas irrigadas com rejeito salino e efluente de piscicultura é otimizada pela fertilização com 50% da recomendação de NPK correspondente a 50, 150 e 75 mg de N, P2O5 e K2O dm-3, respectivamente. ABSTRACT Custard apple (Annona squamosa L.) is a sensitive fruit crop to salinity. One of the alternatives to minimize the deleterious effects of salt stress is adopting mineral fertilization management practices, promoting increased crop tolerance to salts. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to evaluate NPK doses to mitigate salt stress in custard apple seedlings irrigated with saline wastewater. The experiment was performed in a greenhouse, adopting a randomized block design in a 3 × 5 factorial scheme, corresponding to three irrigation waters (local-supply water of 0.53 dS m-1 electrical conductivity (control); desalination reject of 3.5 dS m-1; fish farming effluent of 3.5 dS m-1) and five proportions of the NPK recommendation (25, 50, 75, 100, and 125% of the fertilization recommendation), with four replicates. RESUMO O amendoim (Arachis hypogaea) é uma importante cultura agrícola no Brasil, considerada uma das mais importantes oleaginosas cultivadas. O uso de bactérias solubilizadoras de fertilizantes pode mitigar o estresse salino. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar as trocas gasosas, o crescimento e a eficiência do uso da água da cultura do amendoim irrigado com água salobra sob adubação fosfatada e inoculada com bactérias do gênero Bacillus sp. O delineamento experimental utilizado neste estudo foi inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 4 × 2 × 2, com 5 repetições, referente às formas de adubação (F1 - 0% fósforo, F2 - 50% fósforo, F3 - 100% fósforo e F4 - bovino biofertilizante), presença e ausência do inoculante e dois níveis de condutividade elétrica da água de irrigação (CEa - 0.3 e 4.0 dS m-1). As adubações com fertilizante orgânico (100% de biofertilizante) e mineral (50 e 100% de fósforo) associada a Bacillus sp. mitigou os danos causados pelo estresse salino e proporcionou maior eficiência no uso da água, índice de clorofila, concentração interna de CO2 e diâmetro do caule. O tratamento controle (sem adubação fosfatada e sem estresse salino) e a aplicação de Bacillus sp., promoveu maior desempenho na fotossíntese líquida, taxa de transpiração, condutância estomática e altura das plantas em plantas de amendoim. ABSTRACT Peanut (Arachis hypogaea) is an important agricultural crop in Brazil, considered one of the most important oilseed crops cultivated. The use of fertilizer-solubilizing bacteria can mitigate salt stress. The objective of this study was to evaluate the gas exchange, growth, and water use efficiency of the peanut crop irrigated with brackish water under phosphate fertilization and inoculated with bacteria of the genus Bacillus sp. The experimental design used in this study was completely randomized, in a 4 × 2 × 2 factorial scheme, with 5 replicates, referring to the forms of fertilization (F1 - 0% phosphorus, F2 - 50% phosphorus, F3 - 100% phosphorus, and F4 - bovine biofertilizer), presence and absence of the inoculant and two levels of electrical conductivity of the irrigation water (ECw - 0.3 and 4.0 dS m-1). Fertilization with organic fertilizer (100% biofertilizer) and mineral fertilizer (50 and 100% phosphorus) associated with Bacillus sp. mitigated the damage caused by salt stress and promoted greater water use efficiency, chlorophyll index, internal CO2 concentration and stem diameter. RESUMO O manejo dos níveis de condutividade elétrica é um dos fundamentos necessários para se obter maior produção e melhor qualidade de hortaliças. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da condutividade elétrica da solução nutritiva na cultura da couve-rábano cultivada em sistema semi-hidropônico. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados com cinco tratamentos associados à condutividade elétrica da solução nutritiva (1,31; 1,71; 2,37; 2,98 e 3,75 dS m-1) e quatro repetições. As plantas foram colhidas 78 dias após o transplante e avaliadas quanto ao crescimento, produção e qualidade pós-colheita. Solução nutritiva com condutividade elétrica (CE) de 1,31 dS m-1 proporciona maior produção de couve-rábano roxa. O aumento da CE reduziu linearmente a maioria das variáveis analisadas (área foliar, massa fresca de folhas, bulbos e parte aérea, massa seca de folhas e totais, volume e firmeza de bulbos), com perdas mais expressivas para as variáveis massa fresca de bulbos (50,54%) e volume de bulbos (57,37%). ABSTRACT Managing electrical conductivity levels is one of the fundamentals required to obtain greater production and better quality of vegetables. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of electrical conductivity of the nutrient solution on the kohlrabi crop cultivated in semi-hydroponic system. A randomized block design was used with five treatments associated with the electrical conductivity of the nutrient solution (1.31, 1.71, 2.37, 2.98, and 3.75 dS m-1) and four replications. The plants were harvested 78 days after transplanting and evaluated for growth, production, and postharvest quality. Nutrient solution with electrical conductivity (EC) of 1.31 dS m-1 promotes greater production of purple kohlrabi. The increase in EC reduced linearly most of the analyzed variables (leaf area, fresh mass of leaves, bulb and shoot, dry mass of leaves and total, bulb volume and firmness), with more significant losses for the bulb fresh mass (50.54%) and bulb volume (57.37%) variables. Stemodin (1) is a diterpene produced by Stemodia maritima L. (Scrophulariaceae) and shows antiviral and tumor cell proliferation inhibitory activities. Chemical modifications of 1 were performed to produce the known stemodinone (2), two new stemodinone oximes, Z (3) and E (4), and seven new oxime esters derivatives (5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11). All derivatives were evaluated for their cytotoxic activity in HL60 (promyelocytic leukemia), SNB-19 (astrocytoma), HCT-116 (colon carcinoma), and PC3 (prostate) human cancer cell lines, and L929 (healthy murine cells). Oximes 3 and 4 showed lower cytotoxic values than 1 against all cancer cell lines tested. However, esters 9 and 10 exhibited cell growth inhibition percentages higher than 1 against PC3, SNB-19, and HCT-116 cancer cell lines, ranging from 62.96 to 94.27%. Many of these values exceed that presented by doxorubicin (66.05-86.87%). All compounds showed no cytotoxic effect on healthy cells at the tested concentration of 25 µg mL-1. RESUMO O uso de reguladores de crescimento do grupo das citocininas e auxinas tem demonstrado aumentar a produtividade de algumas culturas, pois podem estar envolvidos na expressão do sexo da planta, embora pouco se saiba sobre a ação da auxina IBA e da citocinina CPPU na frutificação da abóbora, bem como a interação entre ambas, o que torna este campo de estudo promissor. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi induzir a frutificação em abóbora Atlas, por meio de diferentes formas de aplicação e proporções de citocinina e auxina e avaliar seus efeitos nas características físico-químicas dos frutos. Os tratamentos foram compostos por seis proporções associadas a reguladores de crescimento e duas formas de aplicação. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados com quatro repetições. Aos 72 dias após o transplante, foram realizadas análises de crescimento e qualidade dos frutos. O comportamento dos hormônios é modulado por sua concentração e local de aplicação, podendo o efeito ser benéfico ou não. As proporções 50/50% via folha e 75/25% via ovário foram as que aumentaram o crescimento e os parâmetros de qualidade dos frutos. ABSTRACT The use growth regulators from the cytokinins and auxins group has been shown to increase the productivity of certain crops, as they may be involved in the expression of plant sex, although little is known about the action of auxin IBA and cytokinin CPPU on the fruiting of squash, as well as the interaction between both, which makes this field of study promising. Thus, the objective of this study was to induce the fruiting in Atlas squash, by means of different forms of application and proportions of cytokinin and auxin and to evaluate their effects on the physical-chemical characteristics of the fruits. The treatments were composed of six proportions associated with growth regulators and of two forms of application. The experimental design was a randomized block design with four replicates. At 72 days after transplanting, growth and fruit quality analyses were performed. The behavior of the hormones is modulated by their concentration and place of application, and the effect may be beneficial or not. The proportions 50/50% via leaf and 75/25% via ovary were the ones that increased the growth and parameters of fruit quality. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic affected several business segments due to the lockdown period, including the illicit drug market. As Brazil usually imports new psychoactive substances (NPS), it was expected that their traffic would change during the pandemic. This study aimed to characterize NPS infused in pieces of paper seized inside prisons in the State of Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Brazil, during the COVID-19 pandemic by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry, attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and high-resolution mass spectrometry. All samples were identified as synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists, with indole-indazole structures. It was the first record of methyl (2S)-3,3-dimethyl-2-(1-(pent-4-en-1-yl)-1H-indazole-3-carboxamido) butanoate (MDMB-4en-PINACA), N-[(2S)-1-amino-3,3-dimethyl-1-oxobutan-2-yl]-1-butylindazole-3-carboxamide (ADB-BUTINACA), and N-(1-adamantyl)-1-(4-fluorobutyl)indazole-3-carboxamide (4F-ABUTINACA) in RJ, demonstrating that new NPS still arrived despite the lockdown. The integration of the data obtained via this study enabled the unequivocal identification of NPS even in the absence of standard reference materials, which is a common drawback faced by forensic laboratories in the analysis of NPS. In this study, we examine the effects of solvent media on the structural and optical behaviors of two isomers of thiazine derivatives: rac-2-(4-nitrophenyl)-3-phenyl-2,3,5,6-tetrahydro-4H 1,3 thiazin-4-one and (2S)-2-(3-nitrophenyl)-3-phenyl-2,3,5,6-tetrahydro-4H-1,3-thiazin-4 one. The solvent effects were modeled using the polarizable continuum model through density functional theory. Electrical parameters for rac-2-(4-nitrophenyl)-3-phenyl-2,3,5,6-tetrahydro-4H 1,3-thiazin-4-one and (2S)-2-(3-nitrophenyl)-3-phenyl-2,3,5,6-tetrahydro-4H-1,3-thiazin-4 one were determined using the density functional theory at the CAM-B3LYP/6-311+G(d) level. We studied the influence of isomer structures in various solvent media on the Hyper-Rayleigh-Scattering first hyperpolarizability, considering both static and dynamic scenarios. This research particularly emphasizes the implications of relocating the NO2 group from the meta-position (2S)-2-(3-nitrophenyl)-3-phenyl-2,3,5,6-tetrahydro-4H-1,3-thiazin-4-one to the para-position rac-2-(4-nitrophenyl)-3-phenyl-2,3,5,6-tetrahydro-4H-1,3-thiazin-4-one on molecular geometries, linear and nonlinear optical parameters, and gap energies across different solvent media. Bond dissociation energy calculations for hydrogen atoms and all other single acyclic bonds were performed for both derivatives to assess degradation and autoxidation properties. Resumo Uma lista de peixes recentes e fósseis da Ordem Characiformes é apresentada e acredita-se que a lista esteja completa até 2022. Ao todo, 47 colaboradores verificaram e forneceram informações sobre táxons de sua especialidade. A lista está organizada em ordem alfabética por família e em seguida gênero e inclui todos os sinônimos disponíveis. De um total de 3.087 nomes de grupos de espécies e 527 nomes de grupos de gêneros, 2.334 espécies são atualmente tratadas como válidas e atribuídas a 301 gêneros e 24 famílias. Este total inclui 25 espécies fósseis, das quais 21 são incluídas em oito famílias recentes e quatro são Incertae sedis em Characiformes, mas não inclui cinco espécies baseadas em fósseis que foram incorretamente consideradas como Characiformes. O status de 79 espécies nominais permanece não resolvido. Quando há duas hipóteses concorrentes sobre a validade de um nome, uma delas é escolhida e a interpretação alternativa é fornecida na seção de comentários do nome em questão. Dados sobre distribuição geográfica são apresentados através de números que correspondem a regiões para as quais há registro de ocorrência da espécie. Abstract A checklist of recent and fossil fishes of the Order Characiformes is presented herein and believed to be complete through 2022. A total of 47 collaborators checked and provided information about their taxa of expertise. The list is arranged in alphabetical order by family and then genus and includes all available synonyms. From a total of 3,087 species group names and 527 genus group names, 2,334 species are currently treated as valid, and assigned to 301 genera and 24 families. This total includes 25 species known only from the fossil record, of which 21 are assigned to eight extant families and four are Incertae sedis in Characiformes, but does not include five species based on fossil which were wrongly treated in Characiformes. The status of 79 nominal species remains unresolved. When there are two competing hypotheses about the validity of a name, one of them is chosen and the alternate interpretation is provided in the remark section of that name. Distributional summaries are presented as numbers that correspond to areas for which there is a record of occurrence of the species. RESUMO A escassez hídrica é um grande desafio enfrentado nas regiões semiáridas, especialmente, no que diz respeito à agricultura. Assim, alternativas para o uso de águas disponíveis que têm qualidade inferior, bem como a adição de matéria orgânica no solo, são estratégias fundamentais para enfrentar esse desafio. Diante disso, objetivou-se investigar o uso de efluente da piscicultura e esterco bovino na produção de mudas de meloeiro da variedade Cantaloupe, cultivar Hales Best Jumbo. Realizou-se o experimento em casa de vegetação, com delineamento inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 5 x 5, cujos tratamentos foram compostos de cinco proporções de esterco bovino - E (0%; 5%; 10%; 15% e 20%) e cinco diluições do efluente de piscicultura (EP) em água de abastecimento público (AA): D1 - 0% EP; D2 - 15% EP e 85% AA; D3 - 30% EP e 70% AA; D4 - 45% EP e 55% AA; D5 - 60% EP e 40% AA, com 6 repetições, totalizando 150 unidades experimentais. Os resultados indicam que a utilização do substrato contendo 20% de esterco bovino, irrigado com a diluição D3 (30% de efluente de piscicultura e 70% de água de abastecimento) proporcionou benefícios no desempenho das variáveis de crescimento e fitomassa do meloeiro. ABSTRACT Water scarcity is a significant challenge faced in semi -arid regions, especially concerning agriculture. Therefore, alternatives for utilizing available water resources of inferior quality and adding organic matter to the soil are fundamental strategies to address this challenge. Considering this, the objective was to investigate the use of fish farming effluent and cattle manure in the production of melon seedlings of the Cantaloupe variety, specifically the Hales Best Jumbo cultivar. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, using a completely randomized design with a 5 x 5 factorial scheme. The treatments consisted of five proportions of cattle manure (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%) combined with five dilutions of fish farming effluent (FFE) in public-supply water (PSW): D1 - 0% FFE; D2 - 15% FFE and 85% PSW; D3 - 30% FFE and 70% PSW; D4 - 45% FFE and 55% PSW; D5 - 60% FFE and 40% PSW, with six repetitions, totaling 150 experimental units. The results indicate that using substrate containing 20% cattle manure, irrigated with the D3 dilution (30% fish farming effluent and 70% public-supply water), promoted benefits for morphological variables of melon. The use of fluorescent nanomaterials in various fields of study has become increasingly common. In this work, the use of carbon quantum dots as a corrosion marker in carbon steel is proposed. To produce the sensor, carbon quantum dots based on ethylenediamine and citric acid were used, dissolved in a polymeric matrix. The quantum dot used showed a quantum yield of 42.34%. The nanomodified coatings emitted blue light under ultraviolet radiation lamp. However, it was observed that there is a loss of photoluminescence in the coating on the carbon steel substrate compared to the coating on the polymeric substrate, which maintained photoluminescence activity after natural exposure. RESUMO A água é um recurso essencial na agricultura e a sua utilização eficiente é fundamental para garantir a sustentabilidade do sector. A utilização de tecnologias mais racionais e sustentáveis é uma estratégia importante para otimizar o uso da água na agricultura. Diante do exposto, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o efeito de diferentes lâminas de irrigação nas variáveis químicas e físicas de melão, e produtividade, em plantas cultivadas com ou sem aplicação de hidrogel. O experimento foi conduzido em delineamento de blocos casualizados com dez tratamentos e quatro blocos. Os tratamentos foram dispostos em esquema fatorial 5 × 2, referente a cinco lâminas de irrigação (50, 75, 100, 125 e 150% da evapotranspiração da cultura - ETc), e com ou sem aplicação de hidrogel (4 g L-1). O sistema de irrigação utilizado foi o gotejamento. As lâminas de irrigação influenciaram positivamente as variáveis avaliadas, sendo a maior produtividade (39.075,69 kg ha-1) obtida com a maior lâmina de água de 394 mm (150% ETc), enquanto o uso de hidrogel reduziu a cavidade interna do fruto. As características físicas dos frutos (espessura da polpa e cavidade interna) apresentaram incrementos lineares positivos dentro do intervalo de lâminas de irrigação avaliadas. A condutividade elétrica dos frutos apresentou diminuição linear com o aumento das lâminas de irrigação, enquanto o pH se comportou como equação polinomial quadrática. O uso de hidrogel não foi suficiente para mitigar os efeitos negativos das lâminas deficitárias. ABSTRACT Water is an essential resource in agriculture, and its efficient use is fundamental to ensuring the sustainability of the sector. The use of more rational and sustainable technologies is an important strategy for optimizing the use of water in agriculture. In view of the above, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different irrigation depths on both chemical and physical variables of melon fruits, and yield, in plants grown with or without hydrogel application. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design with ten treatments and four blocks. The treatments were arranged in a 5 × 2 factorial scheme, referring to five irrigation depths (50, 75, 100, 125, and 150% of crop evapotranspiration - ETc), and with or without hydrogel application (4 g L-1). The irrigation system used was drip irrigation. Irrigation depths positively influenced the variables evaluated, with the highest yield (39,075.69 kg ha-1) obtained with the highest water depth of 394 mm (150% ETc), while the use of hydrogel reduced the internal cavity of the fruit. The fruit physical characteristics (pulp thickness and internal cavity) showed positive linear increments within the interval of irrigation depth evaluated. Fruit electrical conductivity showed a linear decrease as the irrigation depths increased, while the pH was described by a quadratic polynomial equation. The use of hydrogel was not enough to mitigate the negative effects of deficit irrigation.
