Jaboticaba peel powder (JPP) is a residue that contains phenolic compounds, such as anthocyanins and gallic acid. An adsorbent-bioactive complex (ABC) was synthesized using an extract rich in compounds with antioxidant properties obtained from JPP immobilized on microcrystalline cellulose from sweet sorghum bagasse. In this work, the result of thermal degradation of anthocyanins from JPP and ABC, activation energy (Ea), half-life time (t1/2), decimal reduction time (D), temperature variation (Z), thermodynamic parameters (enthalpy (ΔH), Gibbs free energy (ΔG) and entropy (ΔS)) and degradation of antioxidant activities were investigated. Anthocyanin degradation of 35, 60 and 85% was observed for JPP and 10, 30 and 65% for ABC at temperatures of 90-130 °C. Ea of JPP and ABC were 110 and 91 kJ mol-1, respectively. ABC was able to increase from 143-690% the half-life time when compared to JPP. The Z parameter indicated that a greater temperature variation is necessary to degrade ABC anthocyanins (31 °C) when compared to JPP (25 °C). The thermodynamic parameters showed that the energy needed to be broken down to reach the transition state is higher for JPP than ABC, in addition ABC is closer to its thermodynamic equilibrium state. We report a facile hydrothermal method for the synthesis of niobium pentoxide (Nb2O5) under two different temperatures, 120 °C (Nb2O5-120) and 150 °C (Nb2O5-150). The obtained materials were characterized by structural, optical and morphological techniques. Also, the photocatalytic properties of the Nb2O5 samples were evaluated in two reactions under ultraviolet (UVC) irradiation: degradation of methylene blue (MB) and indigo carmine (IC) dyes; and esterification of free fatty acids (FFA) present in waste cooking oil (WCO). The Nb2O5 was formed at different temperatures of synthesis, and the increase in temperature did not cause significant changes in the structural and optical characteristics, but resulted in an increased surface area of the synthesized materials. Both synthesized materials showed excellent efficiency for dye photodegradation. The sample Nb2O5-150 presented the best performance for the MB photodegradation, with almost 85% of the removal efficiency. In this case, the adsorption of MB molecules on the surface of the material was high due to the favorable electrostatic interaction and also because of its high surface area. For the IC photodegradation, the adsorption was insignificant, and both samples presented approximately 100% of the removal efficiency. Métodos Trata-se de pesquisa descritiva e exploratória de cunho documental, com abordagem quantitativa. Abstract Objective To identify care actions of continuity in federal university hospitals in Brazil. Methods This is descriptive and exploratory research of a documentary nature, with a quantitative approach. The data was collected in January 2023 directly from the Brazilian Hospital Services Company website. Data analysis occurred using simple descriptive statistics. Results The sample consisted of 41 news items, the majority (22%) published in 2021, by hospitals in the Northeast region (34.1%) and with women and children as the main target audience. Nursing participation was specified in 41.5% of the actions. The main actions identified were the implementation of home care/assistance services, continuing education and health education actions and the implementation of systems, protocols and case management tools aimed at hospital discharge. ABSTRACT Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the total macular thickness as well as the thickness of the inner and outer retinal layers in patients with Parkinson’s disease. It also aimed to verify the correlation of these parameters with motor symptoms and cognitive function. Methods: A total of 46 eyes of 23 patients with Parkinson’s disease and 40 eyes of 20 healthy controls were included in the study. The patients’ cognitive, functional, and nonmotor symptoms were evaluated using the Katz Index of Independence and Pfeffer’s Activities of Daily Living, Mini-Mental State Examination, Frontal Assessment Battery, Schwab and England Staging Scales, and Movement Disorders Society Nonmotor Symptoms Scale. The macular thickness measurements obtained via total, inner, and outer optical coherence tomography were recorded. Furthermore, the correlation of the parameters of optical coherence tomography with cognitive, functional, and nonmotor symptoms was assessed. Results: The scores of the Katz Index of Independence and Pfeffer’s Activities of Daily Living as well as the Movement Disorders Society Nonmotor Symptoms Scale were significantly lower in patients with Parkinson’s disease than in healthy controls. Moreover, the former had greater total macular thickness. The temporal and inferior outer sectors were significantly greater for the ganglion cell complex thickness in patients. A significant correlation was observed between the total macular thickness and the Movement Disorder Society-Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale, Parte III (MDS-UPDRS-III) values. Contrarily, there was a negative correlation between the outer macular thickness and the MDS-UPDRS-III values. Meanwhile, the total macular thickness and ganglion cell complex thickness were significantly correlated with the scores of the Mini-Mental State Examination, Schwab and England Staging Scale, Frontal Assessment Battery, and Katz Index of Independence and Pfeffer’s Activities of Daily Living. In addition, the Schwab and England scale was correlated with the outer macular thickness. Conclusion: The total and inner macular thicknesses at the temporal and inferior outer sectors were greater in patients with Parkinson’s disease than in the control group. These findings indicate that macular thickness may be greater in those with Parkinson’s disease, particularly when associated with mild motor symptoms. Palygoskite pellets were synthesized with lignin and WAX® and subjected to technological characterization for application in the remediation of Pb ions contained in aqueous effluents. X-ray diffraction (XRD) characterization of the palygorskite:lignin:WAX® material in a proportion of 70:15:15 revealed that the heat treatment of the pellets did not compromise the crystalline structure of the palygoskite. Texture analyses demonstrated that the surface area increased after synthesis and heat treatment, thus increasing the adsorption capacity. Regarding porosity, X-ray microtomography revealed that the pellets exhibit an irregular and porous spherical morphology with interconnected pores. Adsorption tests showed a removal of 73% of PbII contained in aqueous effluents after 15 min, with equilibrium reached in 60 min (88.36%). ABSTRACT There is great interest in varieties with greater competitive ability against weeds. This can be facilitated by path analysis, which involves the statistical evaluation and interpretation of the relationship between yield and its components. In this analysis, the occurrence of multicollinearity results in inconsistent estimates of the coefficients, and overestimates of the direct effects of the explanatory variables on the response variable. The aim of this study was to identify the characteristics with the greatest direct effect on pod yield and green and dry bean yields in traditional cowpea varieties, evaluated in competition with weeds in two experiments. In addition, the presence of multicollinearity was investigated in the analyses. In Experiment-1, twelve varieties with the highest bean yields in a preliminary evaluation were assessed in a randomized block design with five replications. In Experiment-2, six varieties, selected in the preliminary evaluation, were assessed using two methods of weed management: three of the most productive and three of the least productive. Resumo Objetivo Investigar as evidências de validade da Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21) para análise da prevalência de sintomas de depressão, ansiedade e estresse em uma amostra de trabalhadores de enfermagem brasileiros. Métodos Estudo transversal, com amostragem não-probabilística. Participaram do estudo 4053 trabalhadores de enfermagem brasileiros. As propriedades psicométricas da DASS-21 foram avaliadas por meio de análise da validade baseada na estrutura interna (validade de construto fatorial, convergente e discriminante; invariância do modelo fatorial; confiabilidade); validade baseada nas relações com medidas externas (validade convergente positiva e negativa dos fatores depressão, ansiedade e estresse com os construtos prejuízo emocional, satisfação no trabalho e variáveis individuais e ocupacionais); validade baseada no padrão de resposta aos itens do instrumento (análise da função diferencial dos itens em subgrupos distintos). Abstract Objectives To investigate the validity evidence of the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS-21) and to analyze the prevalence of depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms in a sample of Brazilian nursing workers. Methods This was a cross-sectional study with non-probability convenience sampling. A total of 4053 Brazilian nursing workers participated in the study. The psychometric properties of DASS-21 were assessed by analysis of the validity based on the internal structure (factorial, convergent, and discriminant construct validity, invariance of the factorial model, and reliability); relationships with external measures (positive and negative convergent validity of the depression, anxiety, and stress factors with the emotional impairment, job satisfaction, and individual and occupational variables); and response process of the items (analysis of the differential item functioning in distinct subgroups). Data reliability was certified by estimating the ordinal alpha coefficient and the composite reliability. The prevalence of depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms was estimated based on recommendations from the original authors of DASS-21. Results During validation of the internal structure, the confirmatory factor analysis showed that the fit of the sample to the original DASS-21 model was adequate and the strong measurement invariance of the model was confirmed in different groups. Analysis based on external measures showed that the depression, anxiety, and stress factors had positive and moderate-strong correlations with the emotional impairment domain and negative and moderate correlations with the job satisfaction construct. Analysis of the pattern of response to items confirmed the uniformity and stability of the instrument for the sample. Regarding symptoms, the high prevalence of extremely severe levels of depression, anxiety, and stress was highlighted among participants. RESUMO: O objetivo foi avaliar parâmetros hematológicos e bioquímicos após teste em novo ambiente, e o desempenho zootécnico de Oreochromis niloticus classificado como proativo ou reativo. No experimento 1, machos de tilápia do Nilo com peso médio de 128,33 ± 34,17 g foram mantidos em sistema de recirculação de água (RAS). Imediatamente após a classificação, foram coletadas amostras de sangue de 20 animais reativos e 20 proativos. No experimento 2 foram classificados 60 machos proativos e 60 reativos, com peso médio de 88,23 ± 21,59 g, os quais foram divididos nos seguintes tratamentos: PT (40 animais proativos), RT (40 reativos) MT (20 proativos + 20 reativos). Os animais foram alimentados duas vezes ao dia durante 90 dias. No experimento 1, os animais reativos apresentaram maior hemoglobina e cortisol e menor quantidade de leucócitos. No experimento 2, o ganho em peso foi maior nos animais proativos (PT) e nos animais reativos (RT); porém, a melhor conversão alimentar foi obtida nos animais reativos. A taxa de sobrevivência foi menor no grupo de animais do tratamento MT. ABSTRACT: To evaluate hematological and biochemical parameters after testing in a new environment, and the zootechnical performance of Oreochromis niloticus classified as proactive or reactive. In experiment 1, male Nile tilapia with an average weight of 128.33 ± 34.17 g were kept in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). Immediately after classification, blood samples were collected from 20 reactive and 20 proactive animals. In experiment 2, 60 proactive and 60 reactive males were classified, with an average weight of 88.23 ± 21.59 g, which were divided into the following treatments: PT (40 proactive animals), RT (40 reactive) MT (20 proactive + 20 reactive ). ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the factors associated with the fear of dental students infecting their relatives with COVID-19 as a result of clinical practice. Material and Methods: Online questionnaires were sent by e-mail and social media to dental students from a Brazilian School of Dentistry. The outcome was "fear of infecting the family." The independent variables were sociodemographic data, personal protective equipment use, adoption of infection control measures, and knowledge and feelings about the pandemic and the future of Dentistry. Data analysis used Pearson's Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests (p≤0.05). Results: With 65 participants, the prevalence of fear was 61.5%. Measures to prevent COVID-19, such as frequent hand cleansing (p=0.028) and avoiding the use of aerosol-generating instruments (p=0.027), not having or not knowing if they have been infected by the disease (p=0.038), and feelings of more significant anxiety during the pandemic period (p=0.047), and that Dentistry will undergo major post-pandemic changes (p=0.020) were associated with fear. Resumo Enquadramento: O acolhimento é uma estratégia de cuidado às crianças em situação de maus-tratos, pois compreende a organização de um espaço físico, equipa qualificada, fluxo de notificação e atendimento sensível pelos profissionais de saúde. Objetivo: Descrever o conhecimento e a prática dos profissionais de saúde no atendimento de crianças em situação de maus-tratos sob a ótica do acolhimento. Metodologia: Pesquisa qualitativa, descritiva, de caráter exploratório. A colheita foi realizada por entrevista não diretiva individual no ambiente hospitalar. Utilizou-se análise temática. Resultados: Participaram 23 profissionais de saúde. O sexo feminino foi o predominante e 17 participantes não possuíam curso de capacitação. O acolhimento foi apontado no modo de falar, agir e na rotina de cuidado. Conclusão: O conhecimento dos profissionais de saúde foi desenvolvido na prática profissional pelo tempo de formação e pelo cuidado sensível. A capacitação deficiente interfere na identificação de crianças e adolescentes em situação maus-tratos. Crianças menores são mais vulneráveis e podem sofrer negligência. O acolhimento precisa ser articulado com outras esferas com fluxo de atendimento conhecido.

Abstract Background: Welcoming child victims of maltreatment is a care strategy that requires a physical space, a qualified team, and a reporting system as well as the adoption of a more sensitive approach by health professionals. Objective: To describe the knowledge and practice of health professionals who provide care for maltreated children focusing on patient welcoming. Methodology: This is a qualitative, descriptive, exploratory study that used individual non-directive interviews in a hospital setting for data collection. A thematic analysis was conducted on the data collected. Results: A total of 23 health professionals participated in the study. Most participants were women and 17 had no formal qualifications. The welcoming practices were identified through the analysis of the statements, behaviors, and care practices of the participants. Conclusion: Health professionals have developed their knowledge through professional practice, training, and sensitivity. Inadequate training hinders the identification of child and adolescent victims of maltreatment. Younger children are more vulnerable and may suffer from neglect. Welcoming practices must be articulated with other professional sectors using a common line of care model.

Resumen Marco contextual: La acogida familiar es una estrategia para cuidar a los niños en situaciones de maltrato, ya que incluye la organización de un espacio físico, personal cualificado, flujo de notificaciones y atención sensible por parte de los profesionales sanitarios. Objetivo: Describir los conocimientos y la práctica de los profesionales sanitarios en la atención a niños en situación de maltrato desde la perspectiva de la acogida familiar. Metodología: Investigación cualitativa, descriptiva y exploratoria. Los datos se recogieron mediante entrevistas individuales no directivas en el entorno hospitalario. Se utilizó el análisis temático. Resultados: Participaron 23 profesionales sanitarios. Predominaron las mujeres y 17 participantes no tenían formación. La acogida destacó en su forma de hablar, de actuar y en su rutina asistencial. Conclusión: Los conocimientos de los profesionales sanitarios se desarrollaron en la práctica profesional mediante el tiempo de formación y el cuidado sensible. Una formación deficiente interfiere en la identificación de niños y adolescentes en situación de maltrato. Los niños más pequeños son más vulnerables y pueden sufrir desatención. La acogida familiar debe articularse con otras esferas con un flujo de cuidados conocido.

Este estudo quantifica a pegada de CO2 da madeira nativa serrada bruta, proveniente de três tipos de exploração florestal: manejo sustentável, manejo convencional e extração seletiva convencional (desmatamento). Analisaram-se as emissões de CO2 da exploração florestal até o término do beneficiamento da madeira, com dados da literatura e do Sistema de Informação do Desempenho Ambiental da Construção. Abstract The use of wood is often indicated as a decarbonization strategy for the construction sector. However, the CO 2 footprint of native wood, that is, the emissions during wood harvesting, transportation, and processing, depends on the type of forest management practiced. This study quantifies the CO 2 footprint of native rough sawn lumber from forests with three types of harvesting: sustainable management, conventional management, and conventional selective extraction (deforestation). Resumo As embalagens do tipo “longa-vida” estão sendo utilizadas, informalmente, como alternativa para melhorar o isolamento térmico em edificações residenciais unifamiliares de madeira. Sua utilização é justificada por questões ambientais, a fim de reaproveitar estes resíduos sólidos urbanos, e por sua caraterística como barreira radiante na transmissão de calor. Porém, alguns estudos publicados analisaram apenas sua eficiência no isolamento térmico, sem considerar o comportamento do material em situações de incêndio. Abstract Long-life packaging is being used informally as an alternative to improve thermal insulation in single-family wooden houses. Its usage is backed by environmental concerns to reuse these solid residues as a radiant barrier for heat transmission. However, some published studies have only analyzed its thermal insulation efficiency, without considering the material performance in fire situations. Given this scenario, the objective of this research is to present the analysis and classification to a fire reaction of long-life packaging. In addition to the non-combustibility test, ignitability, radiant wall panel, optical smoke density and single burn item (SBI) tests were carried out. The results showed that the material is combustible and is classified as fire reaction class VI, according to the criteria for special materials. RESUMEN Este estudio tiene como objetivo verificar cómo ha sido la implementación de conceptos básicos sobre las metas establecidas al 2030 y cómo los estudiantes de barrios de la periferia de Río de Janeiro están construyendo su propia percepción sobre los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS). El artículo es necesario dado que la responsabilidad social y la ética empresarial se basan en una educación alineada con la sostenibilidad. Este estudio es de naturaleza exploratoria y cualitativa. El estudio mostró un alineamiento respecto a la necesidad de repensar las estrategias de enseñanza para trabajar el tema en el aula. Al comparar el desarrollo de los estudiantes de barrios dentro de una misma ciudad, queda claro que los de esta región están menos afectados, dada esta descontextualización de los ODS con la vida de los estudiantes. Es necesario monitorear la construcción de la ciencia sobre este tema urgente. ABSTRACT This study aims to verify how the implementation of basic concepts about the goals established by 2030 has been and how students from neighborhoods on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro are building their own perception of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The article is necessary given that social responsibility and business ethics are based on education aligned with sustainability. This study is exploratory and qualitative in nature. The study showed an alignment regarding the need to rethink teaching strategies to work on the topic in the classroom. When comparing the development of students from neighborhoods within the same city, it is clear that those from this region are less touched, given this decontextualization of the SDGs with the lives of students. It is necessary to monitor the construction of science on this urgent topic. It is concluded that the SDGs must be debated more regularly in schools to improve and even encourage teachers to get involved with the goals, in addition to being included in the school curriculum in an integrated way with other social agents, preferably with the support of committed programs in achieving the goals of the 2030 agenda.

RESUMO Este estudo tem como objetivo verificar como tem sido a implementação de conceitos básicos sobre as metas estabelecidas até 2030 e como os alunos de um bairro da periferia do Rio de Janeiro estão construindo sua própria percepção dos Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS). O artigo se faz necessário dado que a responsabilidade social e ética empresarial estão alicerçadas por uma educação alinhada ao olhar da sustentabilidade. Esse estudo é exploratório e de natureza qualitativa. O estudo evidenciou um alinhamento quanto à necessidade de repensar estratégias didáticas para trabalhar a temática na sala de aula. Ao comparar o conhecimento acerca dos ODS dos alunos de diferentes bairros dentro da mesma cidade, percebe-se que os mais afastados do centro estão menos emergentes, dada essa descontextualização dos ODS com a vida dos discentes. É necessário um maior debate dentro e fora das salas de aula, para uma construção da ciência acerca dos ODS, cuja temática é urgente. Conclui-se que os ODS devem ser debatidos com mais regularidade nas escolas para sanar e até incentivar os docentes a se envolverem com as metas, além de inseridos no currículo escolar de forma integrada a outros agentes sociais, de preferência com o apoio de programas compromissados em atingir as metas da agenda 2030.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the association between inflammatory markers and abdominal fat assessed by ultrasound in prepubertal children with and without excess weight. Methods A cross-sectional study involving 241 prepubertal children, 156 with obesity, 37 with overweight, and 48 with normal weight, aged five to ten years, who were followed at a research unit on Childhood Obesity from a teaching hospital belonging to a public health system. The concentration of interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor-α and C-reactive protein were assessed and regression analyses, considering outcome variables such as abdominal wall and intra-abdominal fat thickness measured by ultrasound, were performed. Results The findings highlighted an association between abdominal fat and inflammatory markers, even in children at this young age group. Subcutaneous fat showed a stronger association with inflammatory biomarkers compared to intra-abdominal fat when performing logistic regression, with a positive association between tumor necrosis factor-α and abdominal wall thickness equal to or greater than the 75th percentile in adjusted logistic regression (OR: 18.12; CI 95 %: 1.57: 209.55). Esta revisão de escopo buscou investigar se e como a história das facções criminais oriundas do estado do Rio de Janeiro tem sido abordada na literatura científica. A pergunta de pesquisa foi: “como a história, percursos e desdobramentos da atuação das facções criminais oriundas do estado do Rio de Janeiro são descritos pela literatura científica?”. Para respondê-la, buscou publicações nas bases da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), SciELO, Scopus e Web Of Science. Foi adotado o procedimento duplo-cego para a seleção de publicações e o Guia PRISMA-ScR para sumarização dos resultados. Verificou-se que a história destas facções não foi objeto principal dos estudos, sendo abordada por eles de maneira breve e pontual. As formas de conceituá-las variavam desde as que enfatizavam sua atuação no tráfico; que destacavam seu caráter cultural; seu caráter de governança; seu caráter de resistência política. Quanto à história das facções, alguns trabalhos trouxeram dados sobre sua origem; outros sobre sua trajetória no mercado do tráfico; sobre o surgimento de uma “cultura de facção”; sobre a relação entre facções e Estado. As diferentes formas de conceituá-las e o destaque de certos aspectos de sua história em detrimento de outros seguem a tendência da literatura mais abrangente sobre o tema.

This scoping review aimed to investigate whether and how the history of criminal factions originating from the state of Rio de Janeiro has been addressed in the scientific literature. The research question was: “How are the history, pathways, and developments of the activities of criminal factions from the state of Rio de Janeiro described in the scientific literature?” To answer this, publications were searched in the Virtual Health Library (BVS), SciELO, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. A double-blind procedure was adopted for the selection of publications, and the PRISMA-ScR guidelines were used to summarize the results. It was found that the history of these factions was not the main focus of the studies, being briefly and sporadically addressed. The ways of conceptualizing them varied, ranging from those that emphasized their involvement in drug trafficking, their cultural nature, their governance structure, or their role in political resistance. Regarding the history of the factions, some studies provided data on their origins, others on their trajectory in the drug market, the emergence of a “faction culture” or the relationship between factions and the state. The different ways of conceptualizing these factions and the emphasis on certain aspects of their history over others reflect trends in the broader literature on the subject.
