Resumo Uma lista de peixes recentes e fósseis da Ordem Characiformes é apresentada e acredita-se que a lista esteja completa até 2022. Ao todo, 47 colaboradores verificaram e forneceram informações sobre táxons de sua especialidade. A lista está organizada em ordem alfabética por família e em seguida gênero e inclui todos os sinônimos disponíveis. De um total de 3.087 nomes de grupos de espécies e 527 nomes de grupos de gêneros, 2.334 espécies são atualmente tratadas como válidas e atribuídas a 301 gêneros e 24 famílias. Este total inclui 25 espécies fósseis, das quais 21 são incluídas em oito famílias recentes e quatro são Incertae sedis em Characiformes, mas não inclui cinco espécies baseadas em fósseis que foram incorretamente consideradas como Characiformes. O status de 79 espécies nominais permanece não resolvido. Quando há duas hipóteses concorrentes sobre a validade de um nome, uma delas é escolhida e a interpretação alternativa é fornecida na seção de comentários do nome em questão. Dados sobre distribuição geográfica são apresentados através de números que correspondem a regiões para as quais há registro de ocorrência da espécie. Abstract A checklist of recent and fossil fishes of the Order Characiformes is presented herein and believed to be complete through 2022. A total of 47 collaborators checked and provided information about their taxa of expertise. The list is arranged in alphabetical order by family and then genus and includes all available synonyms. From a total of 3,087 species group names and 527 genus group names, 2,334 species are currently treated as valid, and assigned to 301 genera and 24 families. This total includes 25 species known only from the fossil record, of which 21 are assigned to eight extant families and four are Incertae sedis in Characiformes, but does not include five species based on fossil which were wrongly treated in Characiformes. The status of 79 nominal species remains unresolved. When there are two competing hypotheses about the validity of a name, one of them is chosen and the alternate interpretation is provided in the remark section of that name. Distributional summaries are presented as numbers that correspond to areas for which there is a record of occurrence of the species. ABSTRACT Introduction: Voiding diary (VD) is an important tool in the evaluation of children with voiding symptoms. Voiding frequency, maximal voided volume (MVV), average voided volume (AVV) and nocturnal volume (NV) can be extracted and are valuable in diagnosing and monitoring these disorders. Recently, ICCS has reduced the period of data recording on VD from 3 to 2 days. We hypothesized that one day voiding diary would be enough for guiding treatment. Materials and Methods: Children with overactive bladder (OAB) and primary monosymptomatic enuresis (PMNE) were oriented to fulfill a 3-day VD. Data obtained from VD were evaluated for the first day (1dVD), the first two days (2dVD), and all 3 days (3dVD) and compared according to the MVV, AVV, frequency, NV and expected bladder capacity (EBC). The Friedman, Student's t test and the Fisher's exact was used. ANOVA was used for multiple comparisons. We also used Pearson correlation test. Results: Ninety-eight children were included, 59 had PMNE and 30 OAB. Frequency, AVV and VN were similar regardless how many days the voiding episodes were recorded. Only MVV was higher by a mean of only 32 mL on 3dVD compared to 1dVD. A 1dVD has a sensitivity of 93,9% and a positive likelihood ratio of 2.2. As for the correlation of MVV and EBC it was observed that in 83% of children, MVV was lower than EBC. MVV corresponds to 67% and 69% of EBC in children with PMNE and OAB, respectively. Conclusion: We believe that 1dVD is sufficient to assess these children. It has a high sensitivity and good correlation to 3dVD in evaluating these children. Bladder capacity in this population, evaluated by maximum voided volume, was close to 68% of that obtained by the EBC. Resumo O estudo consistiu no levantamento florístico-taxônomico da subtribo Gonolobinae no estado do Ceará, como parte do projeto “Flora do Ceará: conhecer para conservar”. O trabalho foi baseado na análise comparativa dos caracteres morfológicos, bibliografias especializadas e imagens de coleções-tipo. Para o Ceará, seis espécies pertencentes a dois gêneros foram registradas: Gonolobus rostratus, Matelea denticulata, M. endressiae, M. ganglinosa, M. harleyi e M. nigra. Matelea ganglinosa apresentou ampla distribuição no estado, enquanto G. rostratus, M. denticulata e M. endressiae são restritas. As espécies de Matelea foram registradas em seis Unidades de Conservação e ocorrem, preferencialmente, em ambientes secos (Savana Estépica, Floresta Estacional Decidual e Floresta Estacional Semidecidual das Terras Baixas).

Abstract We performed the taxonomic-floristic survey of subtribe Gonolobinae for the state of Ceará, as part of the “Flora do Ceará: knowing to conserve” project. The study was based on the comparative analysis of morphological characters, specialized bibliography, as well as photos of type-collections. In Ceará, six species of two genera were registered: Gonolobus rostratus, Matelea denticulata, M. endressiae, M. ganglinosa, M. harleyi, and M. nigra. Matelea ganglinosa has a broad distribution in the state, while G. rostratus, M. denticulata and M. endressiae are restricted. Matelea species were recorded in six Conservation Units and preferably dry environments (Stepic Savanna, Seasonal Deciduous Forest, and Lowland Semideciduous Forest).

OBJECTIVE: In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic brought a work and stress overload to healthcare workers, increasing their vulnerability to mental health impairments. In response, the authors created the COMVC-19 program. The program offered preventive actions and mental health treatment for the 22,000 workers of The Hospital das Clinicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (HCFMUSP). This paper aims to describe its implementation and share what we have learned from this experience. METHODS: Workers were able to easily access the program through a 24/7 hotline. Additionally, a mobile phone app that screened for signs and symptoms of emotional distress and offered psychoeducation and/or referral to treatment was made available. Data from both these sources as well as any subsequent psychiatric evaluations were collected. RESULTS: The first 20 weeks of our project revealed that most participants were female, and part of the nursing staff working directly with COVID-19 patients. The most frequently reported symptoms were: anxiety, depression and sleep disturbances. The most common diagnoses were Adjustment, Anxiety, and Mood disorders. CONCLUSIONS: Implementing a mental health program in a multimodal intervention was feasible in a major quaternary public hospital. Our data also suggests that preventive actions should primarily be aimed at anxiety and depression symptoms, with a particular focus on the nursing staff.

RESUMO O Sistema de Drenagens do Norte do Pará abrange os afluentes da margem esquerda do Rio Amazonas, na região sul do Escudo das Guianas no estado do Pará, Brasil. Cinco das áreas estaduais protegidas da região são consideradas estratégicas para a conservação da biodiversidade. No presente estudo, nós acessamos a ictiofauna das cinco áreas de proteção estadual do Sistema de Drenagens do Norte do Pará. Sete expedições foram realizadas entre os meses de janeiro de 2008 e janeiro de 2009, amostrando trechos das bacias dos rios Cuminá, Cuminapanema, Curuá, Jari, Mapuera, Nhamundá e Paru. As expedições resultaram em 286 espécies pertencentes a 38 famílias e oito ordens, incluindo sete novos registros de peixes para o Brasil, seis deles também representando novos registros para a bacia Amazônica. Nossos resultados fornecem uma base sólida para futuros programas de pesquisa e conservação nas áreas de proteção da região.

ABSTRACT The Northern Pará Drainage System encompasses the left-bank tributaries of the Amazonas River in the southern Guiana Shield region of Pará state, Brazil. Five of the region’s state protected areas are considered strategic for the conservation of its biodiversity. In the present study, we assessed the ichthyofauna of the five state protected areas of the Northern Pará Drainage System. Seven expeditions were conducted between January 2008 and January 2009, which surveyed stretches of the Cuminá, Cuminapanema, Curuá, Jari, Mapuera, Nhamundá, and Paru rivers. These surveys yielded 286 species belonging to 38 families and eight orders, including seven new records of fish species for Brazil, six of which are also new records for the Amazon basin. Our results provide a valuable database for future research and conservation programs in the protected areas of the region.

RESUMO Uma nova espécie de um caracídeo do gênero Knodus é descrita do rio Aripuanã (bacia do rio Madeira). Esta espécie se distingue de suas congeneres por possuir o corpo muito estreito, a presença de dentes tri- a pentacúspides na série externa do pré-maxilar, com a cúspide mediana ligeiramente maior que as cúspides laterais, dentes da série interna pentacúspide, distintamente maiores que os da série externa, dentes do maxilar tri- a pentacúspides com a cúspode central discretamente maior que as laterais, os quatro dentes mais anteriores do dentário pentacuspidados, os dentes mais posteriores tricuspidados a pentacuspidados, a linha lateral complete com 36-38 escamas, 3 séries longitudinais de escamas entre a origem da nadadeira pélvica e a linha lateral, e 11-12 séries longitudinais de escamas circumpedunculares. A nova espécie é comparada com espécies incertae sedis de ‘Bryconamericus’ do norte da América do Sul uma vez que estudos filogenéticos sugerem a próxima relação daquelas espécies com Knodus.

ABSTRACT A new species of the characid genus Knodus is described from the rio Aripuanã (rio Madeira basin). It can be distinguished from its congeners by its very low body depth, the presence of tri- to pentacuspid teeth on the outer premaxillary series, with the median cuspid larger than the lateral ones, the teeth of the inner premaxillary series pentacuspid, distinctly larger than those of the outer series, the maxillary teeth tri- to pentacuspid, with the median cusp slightly larger than the lateral ones, the four anteriormost dentary teeth pentacuspid, the smaller posterior teeth tri- to pentacuspid, a complete lateral line with 36-38 scales, 3 longitudinal scale series from pelvic fin origin to lateral line, and 11-12 circumpeduncular scales. The new species is also compared to incertae sedis species of ‘Bryconamericus’ from northern South America since phylogenetic studies suggest a closer relationship of those species with Knodus.

ABSTRACT Vinasse is a byproduct of the process of distillation of sugarcane juice for the manufacture of sugar and alcohol. Because it is rich in nutrients, mainly potassium (K), is used as fertilizer and applied via fertigation, without concerning for the fate of this compound in the soil. Thus, the objective of the study was to evaluate the interactions of the potassium ion (K+), applied via vinasse in a soil representative of the sugarcane zone of the State of Pernambuco using adsorption isotherms. The methodology was based on physical, chemical and soil mineralogical characterization, as well as equilibrium batch tests, where the experimental curves were fitted by Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. The results allowed to infer that the Freundlich model showed better fit of the curve in both forms: linear and non-linear (direct fit); the non-linear model was selected due to the values of coefficient of determination (R²). The interaction between potassium and soil occurred mainly with organic matter and the presence of soil kaolinite, because they showed negative ions on the external surface, thereby promoting potassium adsorption. Soil potassium adsorption capacity was higher for the first layer (0-20 cm) and decreased along the depth profile.

Resumo Objetivos Avaliar incidência de tuberculose e triagem para tuberculose latente em brasileiros com artrite reumatoide em uso de agentes biológicos na prática clinica. Pacientes e métodos Estudo de coorte com dados do Registro Brasileiro de Monitoração de Terapias Biológicas (BiobadaBrasil), de 01/2009 a 05/2013, abrangeu 1.552 tratamentos, 415 somente com drogas modificadoras do curso da doença (MMCDs) sintéticas, 942 MMCDs sintéticas em associação com anti-TNF (etanercepte, infliximabe, adalimumabe) e 195 MMCDs sintéticas em associação com outros biológicos (abatacepte, rituximabe e tocilizumabe). Avaliaram-se ocorrência de tuberculose, tempo de exposição às drogas e triagem para TB. Análise estatística: teste t não pareado e teste de Fisher bicaudal; p < 0,05. Resultados O tempo de exposição dos controles foi de 981 pacientes-ano, do grupo de anti-TNF foi de 1.744 pacientes-ano (adalimumabe = 676, infliximabe = 547 e etanercepte = 521 pacientes-ano) e o de outros biológicos de 336 pacientes-ano. A incidência de TB foi de 1,01/1.000 pacientes-ano nos controles e de 2,87 pacientes-ano nos usuários de anti-TNF (adalimumabe = 4,43/1.000 pacientes-ano; etanercepte = 1,92/1.000 pacientes-ano e infliximabe = 1,82/1.000 pacientes-ano). Não houve casos de tuberculose no grupo de outros biológicos. O tempo médio de exposição até a ocorrência de tuberculose foi de 27(11) meses para o grupo anti-TNF. Conclusões A incidência de tuberculose foi maior nos usuários de MMCDs sintéticas e anti-TNF do que nos usuários de MMCDs sintéticas e de MMCDs sintéticas e biológicos não anti-TNF, e também mais tardia, sugerindo infecção durante o tratamento, e não falha na triagem.

Abstract Objectives To assess the incidence of tuberculosis and to screen for latent tuberculosis infection among Brazilians with rheumatoid arthritis using biologics in clinical practice. Patients and methods This cohort study used data from the Brazilian Registry of Biological Therapies in Rheumatic Diseases (Registro Brasileiro de Monitoração de Terapias Biológicas - BiobadaBrasil), from 01/2009 to 05/2013, encompassing 1552 treatments, including 415 with only synthetic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs, 942 synthetic DMARDs combined with anti-tumor necrosis factor (etanercept, infliximab, adalimumab) and 195 synthetic DMARDs combined with other biologics (abatacept, rituximab and tocilizumab). The occurrence of tuberculosis and the drug exposure time were assessed, and screening for tuberculosis was performed. Statistical analysis: Unpaired t-test and Fisher's two-tailed test; p < 0.05. Results The exposure times were 981 patient-years in the controls, 1744 patient-years in the anti-TNF group (adalimumab = 676, infliximab = 547 and etanercept = 521 patient-years) and 336 patient-years in the other biologics group. The incidence rates of tuberculosis were 1.01/1000 patient-years in the controls and 2.87 patient-years among anti-TNF users (adalimumab = 4.43/1000 patient-years; etanercept = 1.92/1000 patient-years and infliximab = 1.82/1000 patient-years). No cases of tuberculosis occurred in the other biologics group. The mean drug exposure time until the occurrence of tuberculosis was 27(11) months for the anti-TNF group. Conclusions The incidence of tuberculosis was higher among users of synthetic DMARDs and anti-TNF than among users of synthetic DMARDs and synthetic DMARDs and non-anti-TNF biologics and also occurred later, suggesting infection during treatment and no screening failure.

BACKGROUND: The human retroviruses HIV-1 and HTLV-1 share the routes of infection with hepatitis viruses B and C. Co-infection by these agents are a common event, but we have scarce knowledge on co-infection by two or more of these agents. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the characteristics and risk factors for co-infections by HBV and HCV in patients infected by HIV-1 or/and HTLV-1, in Salvador, Brazil. METHODS: In a case-control study we evaluated patients followed in the AIDS and HTLV clinics of Federal University of Bahia Hospital. Clinical and epidemiological characteristics were reviewed, and patients were tested for the presence of serological markers of HBV and HCV infections. HCV-infected patients were tested by PCR to evaluate the presence of viremia. RESULTS: A total of 200 HIV-1, 213 HTLV-1-infected, and 38 HIV-HTLV-co-infected individuals were included. HIV-infected patients were more likely to have had more sexual partners in the lifetime than other patients' groups. HIV-HTLV-co-infected subjects were predominantly male. Patients infected by HTLV or co-infected had a significantly higher frequency of previous syphilis or gonorrhea, while HIV infection was mainly associated with HPV infection. Co-infection was significantly associated to intravenous drug use (IVDU). HBV and/or HCV markers were more frequently found among co-infected patients. HBV markers were more frequently detected among HIV-infected patients, while HCV was clearly associated with IVDU across all groups. AgHBs was strongly associated with co-infection by HIV-HTLV (OR = 22.03, 95% CI: 2.69-469.7), as well as confirmed HCV infection (p = 0.001). Concomitant HCV and HBV infection was also associated with retroviral co-infection. Patients infected by HTLV-1 had a lower chance of detectable HCV viremia (OR = 0.04, 95% CI: 0.002-0.85). CONCLUSIONS: Infection by HCV and/or HBV is frequent among patients presenting retroviral infection, but risk factors and prevalence for each infection are distinct for each agent. Retroviral co-infection increases the risk of a positive AgHBs, but HTLV-1 infection seems to increase the likelihood of HCV spontaneous clearance.

Para modelar o fluxo de água e o transporte de soluto em solos são necessários parâmetros hidrodinâmicos e hidrodispersivos como dados de entrada nos modelos numéricos. O experimento de infiltração axissimétrica utilizando um infiltrômetro de anel simples com um traçador conservativo (KCl) é um método simples e eficiente para determinar esses parâmetros no campo. O objetivo deste trabalho consistiu na caracterização hidrodinâmica e hidrodispersiva de um Latossolo Amarelo situado na microrregião do brejo paraibano, no município de Areia, PB, em nível de campo, por meio da infiltrometria de anel simples. Os experimentos foram realizados em uma área cultivada com feijão em uma malha de 50 x 50 m. A condutividade hidráulica saturada, Ks, e a sorvidade, S, foram estimadas pelas análises de infiltração tridimensional axissimétrica para tempos curto e longo. O soluto inerte (Cl-) foi utilizado para o cálculo da fração de água móvel, Φ, por meio da medição da concentração de soluto na camada do solo (0-15 cm) ao final do experimento de infiltração. Um modelo numérico de transferência de soluto com base no conceito de convecção-dispersão (CD) foi utilizado para definir os parâmetros (D e R) de transporte. A infiltrometria de anel simples demonstrou ser um método simples e eficiente para obtenção dos parâmetros hidrodinâmicos e hidrodispersivos. Observou-se boa concordância entre os valores medidos e calculados (v, D e R) com o modelo CD observado pelos coeficientes de determinação (r²).

To model the water flow and solute transport in soils, hydrodynamic and hydrodispersive parameters are required as input data in the mathematical models. The axisymmetric infiltration experiment using a single-ring infiltrometer with a conservative tracer (KCl) is a simple and efficient method for the determination of these parameters in the field. The objective of this study was to characterize hydrodynamic and hydrodispersive parameters of some soils in a marshy region, in Areia-PB, in the field, based on single-ring infiltration tests. The experiments were conducted in an area with common bean, in a 50 x 50 m grid. Saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks) and sorptivity (S) were estimated by analysis of three- dimensional axisymmetric infiltration for short and long periods. The inert solute (Cl-) was used to calculate the mobile water fraction Φ, by measuring solute concentration in the 0-15 cm layer at the end of the infiltration experiment. A numerical model of solute transfer based on the concept of convection-dispersion (CD) was used to determine the transport parameters (D and R). Single-ring infiltrometry proved to be a simple and efficient method to obtain the hydrodynamic and hydrodispersive parameters. A good agreement was observed between measured and calculated values (v, D and R) with the model CD, based on the coefficients of determination (r²).

A caracterização hidrodispersiva de um Latossolo e de um Neossolo Quartzarênico, ambos da região do Vale do São Francisco, foi realizada em laboratório por meio de ensaios de deslocamento de líquidos miscíveis em colunas de solo deformado. Os ensaios compreenderam o deslocamento de um pulso de 1,0 volume de poros da solução de KBr nas vazões de 2,4.10-5; 4,8.10-5; 7,2.10-5; 9,6.10-5 e 1,2-10-4 m³ h-1 e nas concentrações de 11,89; 59,49 e 118,99 g L-1, e três repetições para cada ensaio, sob condições de saturação e fluxo em regime estacionário. Por meio do programa CXTFIT 2.0, que ajusta a solução analítica da equação do modelo convectivo-dispersivo (CDE) aos pontos da curva experimental de eluição, foi possível obter os parâmetros hidrodispersivos do fator de retardamento (R) e o coeficiente de dispersão hidrodinâmica (D). O modelo CDE realizou um bom ajuste aos pontos das curvas de eluição, com valores dos coeficientes de determinação variando de 98 a 99% para ambos os solos; os valores de R ficaram próximos a 1,0 nos dois solos, indicando que o KBr não interage com os mesmos e a dispersividade do Neossolo é maior que a do Latossolo devido a distribuição do tamanho dos poros ser maior no Neossolo.

The hydrodispersive characterization of a Latosol and a Quartzarenic Neosol, both in the irrigated region of São Francisco Valley, was carried out in laboratory by means of assays of displacement of miscible liquids in columns of deformed soil. The assays consisted of the displacement of a pulse of 1.0 volume of pores of the solution of KBr in the outflows of 2.4.10-5, 4.8.10-5, 7.2.10-5, 9.6.10-5 and 1.2.10-4 m³ h-1 and in concentrations of 11.89, 59.49 and 118.99 g L-1, and three repetitions for each assay, under conditions of saturation and flow in stationary condition. By means of program CXTFIT 2.0 that adjusts the analytical solution of the equation of the convection-dispersion (CDE) to the points of the experimental breakthrough curve, it was possible to obtain the hydrodispersive parameters of the retardation factor (R) and coefficient of hydrodynamic dispersion (D). The model CDE carried out a good adjustment to the points of the experimental breakthrough curve, with the values of determination coefficients varying from 98 to 99% for both soils. The values of R are near 1.0 for both the soils, indicating that the KBr does not interact with the soil and the dispersivity of the Neosol is greater than that of the Latosol due to distribution of the size of the pores being greater in the Neosol.

Duas espécies novas de Moenkhausia, uma da bacia do rio Tapajós e outra da bacia do rio Xingu, são descritas como aparentemente endêmicas da Serra do Cachimbo. Ambas, juntamente com M. petymbuaba, compartilham um padrão de colorido exclusivo de grandes manchas escuras conspícuas na base das escamas do corpo. Moenkhausia chlorophthalma, do rio Treze de Maio, um afluente do rio Curuá (bacia do rio Xingu), é facilmente reconhecida pela presença de uma área preta bem delimitada na região anterior da nadadeira adiposa e possuir olhos verdes em vida. Moenkhausia plumbea ocorre nas cabeceiras dos afluentes do rio Braço Norte, bacia do rio Tapajós, e pode ser diagnosticada pela presença de uma faixa longitudinal escura no olho e seis raios ramificados na nadadeira pélvica (vs. sete). As relações entre as novas espécies com as demais Moenkhausia são discutidas.

Two new species of Moenkhausia, one from the rio Tapajós and the other from the rio Xingu basins are described as apparently endemics of the Serra do Cachimbo. Both species, along with M. petymbuaba, share a distinct color pattern composed of large conspicuous dark blotches on the base of the body scales. Moenkhausia chlorophthalma, from rio Treze de Maio, a tributary to rio Curuá (rio Xingu basin), is distinguished by the presence of a proximal well delimited black area on the adipose fin and a green eye in life. Moenkhausia plumbea of the headwaters of tributaries of the rio Braço Norte, rio Tapajós basin is diagnosed by the presence of a dark longitudinal stripe across the eye and six branched pelvic-fin rays (vs. seven). Relationships of the new species with other Moenkhausia are discussed.

Uma segunda espécie inseminadora do gênero Bryconadenos, possuindo células "club" organizadas em uma glândula na nadadeira anal de machos sexualmente ativos, foi recentemente descoberta na bacia do rio Xingu, é descrita como nova. Distingue-se da outra espécie do gênero, B. tanaothoros, pela presença de uma conspícua mancha umeral e menor número de escamas entre a origem da nadadeira dorsal e a origem da nadadeira anal. Machos de B. weitzmani têm nadadeiras pélvicas mais longas a partir de 30 mm SL. Bryconadenos weitzmani distingue-se ainda de B. tanaothoros por apresentar a glândula da nadadeira anal em forma de taça, com a porção ventral muito mais desenvolvida que a dorsal, enquanto que em B. tanaothoros as duas porções apresentam-se quase igualmente desenvolvidas e separadas por uma fenda.

A second inseminating species bearing club cells organized into an anal-fin gland in sexually active males belonging to the genus Bryconadenos was recently discovered in the rio Xingu drainage and is described as new. It is distinguished from B. tanaothoros by the presence of a conspicuous dark blotch at the humeral region, and fewer scale rows between dorsal-fin origin and anal-fin origin. Males of B. weitzmani have longer pelvic fins at sizes beyond 30 mm SL. Bryconadenos weitzmani is further distinguished from B. tanaothoros by the cup shape of the anal-fin gland, its lower part much more developed than the upper, whereas in B. tanaothoros there is just a slit separating the almost equally developed upper and lower parts.

Uma nova espécie de Jupiaba é descrita do rio Curuá, afluente do rio Iriri, bacia do rio Xingu, Estado do Pará, Brasil. A nova espécie difere de seus congêneres pela combinação única de dentes com cúspides aproximadamente de mesmo tamanho e dentes do dentário gradualmente menores posteriormente, pelo colorido que consiste em manchas escuras na base da maioria das escamas laterais do corpo, mancha umeral alongada e inconspícua e mancha caudal redonda e conspícua , e 21 a 24 raios ramificados na nadadeira anal. A nova espécie é similar e possivelmente táxon irmão de J. meunieri. Comentários sobre o endemismo da fauna de peixes do alto rio Curuá são fornecidos.

A new species of Jupiaba is described from rio Curuá, a tributary of the rio Iriri, rio Xingu basin, Pará State, Brazil. The new species is distinguished from its congeners by the unique combination of teeth cusps of similar size, dentary teeth gradually decreasing in size towards posterior portion, color pattern consisting of dark markings on the base of the majority of lateral body scales, inconspicuous dark elongate humeral blotch and conspicuous dark round blotch on the caudal peduncle, and 21 to 24 branched anal-fin rays. The new species is very similar, and possibly sister taxon to J. meunieri. Comments on the endemism of the fish fauna of the upper rio Curuá are given.
