Resumo O processo de soldagem por fricção mostra-se como alternativa eficaz frente aos métodos convencionais de união de materiais, em especial a soldagem por fricção com pino consumível (Friction Hydro Pillar Processing). Com uso de equipamentos automatizados são produzidas juntas com qualidade e repetibilidade confiável, tornando possível acompanhar em tempo real o processo de soldagem. O estudo da aplicação desse processo em diferentes materiais comprova a sua utilização em sistemas produtivos. O desenvolvimento de diversas linhas de pesquisas mostra que mesmo variando materiais e geometria o tempo de processamento de juntas soldadas com no mínimo 20 mm de profundidade em chapas espessas se mantem inferior a 6 (seis) minutos. Além disso, têm-se como resultado juntas com propriedades metal/mecânica adequadas, com custo de produção reduzido e alta produtividade, mesmo para materiais com baixa soldabilidade e com características dissimilares. Neste trabalho serão apresentados diversos materiais unidos por FHPP, bem como sua aplicabilidade e vantagens.

Abstract The friction welding process is shown as an effective alternative compared to the conventional methods of joining materials, in particular Friction Hydro Pillar Processing (FHPP). With the use of automated equipment joints are produced with reliable quality and repeatability, making it possible to follow in real time the welding process. The study of the application of this process in different materials proves its use in production systems. The development of several lines of research shows that even varying materials and geometry of joints with at least 20 mm deep in thick plates, the processing time remains less than 6 (six) minutes. Furthermore, as a result joints with suitable metal/mechanical properties are made with low production cost and high productivity, even for materials with low weldability and with different characteristics. In this work will be presented various materials joined by FHPP, as well as its advantages and applicability.

INTRODUCTION: The current external monitoring strategies used to detect atrial fibrillation (AF) and atrial tachycardia (AT) episodes are based either on transient periods of short-term ECG recordings or on infrequent period of long-term continuous monitoring. The aim of this study was to investigate the ability of short-term daily ECG monitoring strategies for the detection of AF events. METHODS AND MATERIALS: The investigation was based on simulations performed on data extracted from Burden II study (patients implanted with pacemaker for brady-tachy syndrome), reporting date, time and duration of each episodes. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: We found that a short-term daily temporally-optimized ECG monitoring allows to detect a higher percentage of episodes than 1-day Holter monitoring and to be at least as effective as a 7-days monitoring.

The aim of this study was to assess the effect of filtering techniques on the time-domain analysis of the ECG. Multi-lead ECG recordings obtained from chronic atrial fibrillation (AF) patients after successful external cardioversion have been acquired. Several high-pass filtering techniques and three cut-off frequency values were used: Bessel and Butterworth four-pole and two-pole bidirectional and unidirectional filters, at 0.01, 0.05 and 0.5 Hz low cut-off frequency. As a reference, a beat-by-beat linear piecewise interpolation was used to remove baseline wander, on each P-wave. Results show that ECG filtering affects the estimation of P-wave duration in a manner that depends upon the type of filter used: particularly, the bidirectional filters caused negligible variation of P-wave duration, while unidirectional ones provoked an increase higher than 8%.

Scopo di questo studio è di valutare l'effetto delle tecniche di filtraggio del segnale ECG sull'analisi dell'onda P nel dominio del tempo. L'analisi è stata svolta su registrazioni ECG multi-derivazione ottenute da pazienti sottoposti a cardioversione per fibrillazione atriale cronica. Sono state analizzate diverse tecniche di filtraggio passa-alto e 3 valori di frequenze di taglio: filtri Bessel e Butterworth a 4 e 2 poli, bidirezionali e unidirezionali, a 0.01, 0.05 e 0.5 Hz. Un'interpolazione lineare battito-battito effettuata su ciascuna onda P è stata usata come tecnica di riferimento per la rimozione delle oscillazioni della linea di base. I risultati mostrano che il filtraggio dell'ECG incide sulla stima della durata dell'onda P in modo dipendente dal tipo di filtro usato: in particolare, i filtri bidirezionali provocano una variazione trascurabile della durata dell'onda P, mentre quelli unidirezionali causano un aumento dello stesso parametro anche maggiore dell'8%.
