Resumo Objetivo O questionário BIDQ-S para escoliose se originou a partir do Body Image Disturbance Questionnaire (BIDQ) e representa a versão adaptada e validada especificamente em pacientes com escoliose. Este instrumento, a despeito da sua aplicabilidade e importância, ainda não tem versão para uso no Brasil. O presente estudo teve como objetivo traduzir, adaptar transcuturalmente e validar o BIDQ-S para o português brasileiro. Método Foi realizado estudo de tradução adaptação transcultural e validação do instrumento Body Image Disturbance Questionnaire-Scoliosis version (BIDQ-S) para o português brasileiro, utilizando os critérios recomendados pela American Association of Orthopedic Surgeon (AAOS). A validação do instrumento foi realizada por meio de consistência interna e confrontando-se com ângulo de Cobb, Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) e Scoliosis Research Society (SRS-22). O BR-BIDQ-S (versão brasileira) foi validado em um grupo de 35 adolescentes portadores de escoliose idiopática do adolescente que se encontravam na fila de espera para tratamento. Resultados A consistência interna do Br-BIDQ-S foi de 0,899 medido pelo coeficiente Alfa de Cronbach (considerada quase perfeita). Não houve correlação com o ângulo de Cobb, contudo o Br-BIDQ-S teve correlação com os domínios Dimensão Física, Dimensão Emocional e Dimensão Social do PedsQL e também com a Dimensão Função/Atividade do SRS-22. Conclusão O Br-BIDQ-S mostrou-se confiável para avaliar a imagem corporal de adolescentes com escoliose, com validade interna de 0,899 (considerada quase perfeita), similar àquela do instrumento original, havendo correlação com o PedsQL e com o SRS-22. Abstract Objective The Body Image Disturbance Questionnaire for Scoliosis (BIDQ-S) for scoliosis derives from the Body Image Disturbance Questionnaire (BIDQ) with specific adaptation for scoliosis patients. Despite its significance and applicability, this instrument has never been translated into Brazilian Portuguese. The current study aimed to translate, transculturally adapt, and validate the BIDQ-S into Brazilian Portuguese. Methods BIDQ-S was translated and culturally adapted into Brazilian Portuguese using the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) criteria. The questionnaire validation relied on internal consistency and comparison with the Cobb angle, Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL), and Scoliosis Research Society (SRS-22). The Brazilian version (BR-)BIDQ-S validation occurred in a sample of 35 adolescents with scoliosis waiting for specialized treatment. SUMMARY INTRODUCTION: The term second victim arises when a healthcare professional experiences an adverse event that has an emotional impact and/or physical suffering for the healthcare professional. The experiences of the second victim can be measured using the Second Victim Experience and Support Tool, originally developed in English, translated and validated internationally in several languages. A revised version of the tool (Second Victim Experience and Support Tool-Revised) has been published since 2020. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to translate and gather evidence of the validity of the Second Victim Experience and Support Tool-Revised Version into Brazilian Portuguese. METHODS: This is a methodological study that involved the necessary procedures for the translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the instrument, carefully following the stages of translation, back-translation, pre-testing, evaluation by a panel of experts, and a test on a large population for validity and reliability. RESULTS: A total of 146 health professionals took part in the study, with a greater predominance of doctors (38.4%) and physiotherapists (30.8%). Seven items were excluded, all with factor loadings of less than 0.50. The "institutional support" dimension had to be excluded due to its low factor loadings. The fit indices of the re-specified model were χ2/df=1.60, CFI=0.90, TLI=0.88, and RMSEA=0.07 (CI 0.06–0.08). CONCLUSION: The adapted version of the instrument showed satisfactory psychometric properties when composed of 28 items distributed in eight dimensions, making it a valid and reliable instrument for assessing second victim experiences in different professions, suitable for dissemination in Brazil. Resumo Objetivo O presente estudo teve como objetivo fazer uma análise histomorfométrica do reparo de um defeito ósseo não crítico após a implantação de microesferas de hidroxiapatita (HA) com substituição por magnésio (Mg). Métodos Trinta ratos foram distribuídos em 3 grupos experimentais, avaliados aos 15 e 45 dias após a cirurgia: GHA (defeito ósseo preenchido com microesferas de HA); GHAMg (defeito ósseo preenchido com microesferas de HA com substituição por 1 mol% de Mg) e GC (defeito ósseo sem implantação de biomateriais). Resultados Aos 15 dias, evidenciou-se que os biomateriais preencheram toda a extensão do defeito, com neoformação de matriz osteoide de permeio às microesferas. No GC, essa neoformação ficou restrita às bordas, com deposição de tecido conjuntivo frouxo de espessura reduzida. Aos 45 dias, a neoformação óssea preencheu quase toda a extensão do defeito ósseo nos 3 grupos, com deposição osteoide estatisticamente significativa no GC, apesar da espessura reduzida em comparação ao GHA e o GHAMg. Abstract Objective The present study aims to analyze histomorphometrically the repair of a non-critical bone defect after implantation of hydroxyapatite (HA) microspheres substituted by magnesium (Mg). Methods Thirty rats were distributed into 3 experimental groups, evaluated at 15 and 45 days postoperatively: HAG (bone defect filled with HA microspheres); HAMgG (bone defect filled with HA microspheres replaced with 1 mol% Mg), and CG (bone defect without implantation of biomaterials). Results After 15 days, the biomaterials filled the entire defect extent, forming a new osteoid matrix between the microspheres. In the CG, this neoformation was restricted to the edges with the deposition of loose connective tissue with reduced thickness. At 45 days, new bone formation filled almost the entire extension of the bone defect in the 3 groups, with statistically significant osteoid deposition in the CG despite the reduced thickness compared with the HAG and HAMgG. Resumo Objetivo: Analisar associação entre osteólise nas interfaces protéticas por ressonância magnética com sequências MAVRIC-SL e a gravidade clínica dos pacientes submetidos a artroplastias de joelho ou quadril. Determinar concordância intraobservador e interobservador na reabsorção óssea peri-implante. Materiais e Métodos: Foi realizado estudo transversal entre março de 2019 e agosto de 2020, com 47 pacientes (49 articulações) em seguimento pós-operatório de artroplastias de joelho ou quadril, com dor crônica, que responderam ao questionário WOMAC. As interfaces dos componentes foram avaliadas e definiram dois grupos: osteointegrado e osteólise. Testes não paramétricos foram usados. Abstract Objective: To analyze the association between osteolysis at the prosthesis interfaces, as determined by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with multiacquisition variable-resonance image combination selective (MAVRIC-SL) sequences, and clinical severity after knee or hip arthroplasty, as well as to assess interobserver and intraobserver agreement on periprosthetic bone resorption. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of 47 patients (49 joints) under postoperative follow-up after knee or hip arthroplasty, with chronic pain, between March 2019 and August 2020. All of the patients completed the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) questionnaire. The component interfaces were evaluated and ordered into two groups: osseointegrated and osteolytic. Nonparametric tests were used. Results: There were significant differences between the two groups in terms of the mean WOMAC scores: total (p = 0.010); stiffness domain (p = 0.047); and function (p = 0.011) domains. There was substantial interobserver and intraobserver agreement for most analyses of the components. Conclusion: Periprosthetic osteolysis appears to be associated with clinical complaints of pain in the post-arthroplasty scenario, and MAVRIC-SL provides reproducible assessments. RESUMO O artigo propõe examinar dois dos principais mitos pano relacionados à ayahuasca como transformações de uma série de outros mitos. Estabelecendo assim um conjunto de transformação, procura-se demonstrar que esses mitos estão intimamente ligados aos mitos que versam sobre a relação dos humanos com bandos de queixadas. Essa ligação pode ser compreendida à luz de uma hipótese bastante influente acerca da história da difusão da ayahuasca, expandindo-a para a região dos altos rios Juruá e Purus. Em particular, trata-se de indicar algumas ideias para pensar como os mitos se transformaram para acomodar em seu seio o uso da ayahuasca, e o que essa mudança significa do ponto de vista das cosmologias que produziram aqueles mitos.

ABSTRACT This article proposes to examine two of the main panoan myths related to ayahuasca as transformations of a series of other myths. By establishing a set of transformations, it seeks to demonstrate that these myths are closely linked to the myths about the relationship between humans and herds of peccaries. This connection can be understood in light of a very influential hypothesis about the history of ayahuasca diffusion, expanding it to the region of the upper rivers Juruá and Purus. In particular, we want to suggest some ideas to think about how the myths were transformed to accommodate the use of ayahuasca in their midst, and what this change means from the point of view of the cosmologies that produced those myths.

RESUMO Objetivo: Testar a hipótese de que o colágeno não hidrolisado tipo II (UC-II) melhora a dor, qualidade de vida e função articular de indivíduos entre 60 e 80 anos com osteoartrite (OA) de joelho. Métodos: Cinquenta e três pacientes do grupo tratamento com UC-II (por 90 dias) e 52 do grupo controle (GC - sem UC-II) foram avaliados no tempo 0, 30 e 90 dias quanto à qualidade de vida em saúde, dor e função com os questionários, além de dados antropométricos, alinhamento, amplitude de movimento e análise radiográfica. Resultados: A qualidade de vida aumentou significantemente no domínio PCS no grupo tratamento versus controle. Houve ainda diferença entre a primeira e última avaliação na dor pela escala visual analógica (−3.8 ± 1.8 versus −1.3 ± 2.0) e no escore WOMAC (−9.5 ± 11.9 versus −1.3 ± 11.1). Não houve variação na evolução temporal do domínio MCS. Conclusão: Dor, rigidez articular e qualidade de vida (domínio físico) melhoram com a inclusão do UC-II por 90 dias ao arsenal terapêutico na OA do joelho em indivíduos de 60 a 80 anos. ABSTRACT Objective: To test the hypothesis that undenatured type II collagen (UC-II) relieves pain, quality of life, and joint function in women aged from 60 to 80 years with knee osteoarthritis. Methods: 53 patients in the UC-II treatment group (for 90 days) and 52 in the control group (without UC-II) were evaluated at 1, 30, and 90 days regarding health-related quality of life, pain, and function with questionnaires, anthropometric data, alignment, range of motion, and radiographic analysis. Results: Quality of life increased significantly in the Physical domain in the treatment vs control group. Also, there was a difference between the first and the last evaluation on the pain visual analog scale (−3.8 ± 1.8 versus −1.3 ± 2.0) and on the WOMAC score (−9.5 ± 11.9 versus −1.3 ± 11.1). No variation in the temporal evolution of the Mental domain was found. Conclusion: Pain, joint stiffness, and quality of life (Physical domain) improved with the inclusion of UC-II for 90 days to the therapeutic toolbox for knee osteoarthritis in individuals aged 60 to 80 years. Resumo Objetivo: Estabelecer, de modo sistemático, se existe associação entre polimorfismos e a necrose avascular em pacientes com doença falciforme. Fontes de dados: A revisão, conduzida segundo as diretrizes Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) e registrada no International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO), foi baseada na busca de estudos nas bases de dados PubMed, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) e na literatura cinza (Google Scholar e Open Gray) até junho de 2020. A análise da qualidade dos artigos foi baseada nos critérios do Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE). Síntese dos dados: Dez artigos foram selecionados nas bases de dados e dois incluídos por meio da busca manual, totalizando 12 estudos elencados. As amostras resultaram em 2.362 pacientes incluídos. Com base na iniciativa STROBE, sete estudos atenderam total e/ou parcialmente mais de 70% dos itens essenciais e dois atingiram menos que 60% deles, com variação geral de 86,4–54,5%. Os resultados mostram que os polimorfismos nos genes da proteína morfogenética óssea 6 (BMP6), da Klotho (KL) e da Anexina A2 (ANXA2) podem ter associação com osteonecrose no contexto da doença falciforme. Seis artigos estudaram o polimorfismo no gene da enzima MTHFR, mas apenas um obteve associação positiva. Abstract Objective: To systematically establish whether there is an association between polymorphisms and avascular necrosis in patients with sickle cell disease. Data source: The review, conducted according to PRISMA guidelines and registered with PROSPERO, was based on research of studies in PubMed, SciELO, LILACS, BVS databases and in the gray literature (Google Scholar and Open Gray) published until June 2020. The STROBE initiative was used to analyze the articles’ quality. Data synthesis: Ten articles were selected from the databases and two were included through manual search, totaling 12 studies. All samples gathered 2,362 patients. According to STROBE, seven studies fully and/or partially covered more than 70% of the essential items and two studies reached less than 60%, with an overall variation of 86.4–54.5%. The results indicate that polymorphisms in the genes of the bone morphogenetic protein 6 (BMP6), Klotho (KL) and Annexin A2 (ANXA2) may be associated with osteonecrosis in the context of sickle cell disease. Six articles addressed the polymorphism in the MTHFR enzyme gene, but only one found a positive association. Polymorphisms associated with the DARC receptor, the ITGA4 gene, CD36 and thrombophilia protein genes were not associated in any of the studies. Conclusions: The results indicate that the polymorphisms in BMP6, Klotho and ANXA2 genes may be associated with avascular necrosis in patients with sickle cell disease. However, in order to confirm these genetic changes as risk factors, further studies with greater statistical power and methodological rigor are needed. RESUMO JUSTIFICATIVA E OBJETIVOS: Dor crônica acarreta incapacidade funcional e social, impactando emocionalmente os indivíduos. O objetivo deste estudo foi descrever os principais comprometimentos das atividades de vida diária, sintomas ansiosos e depressivos e qualidade de vida em pacientes com dor crônica. MÉTODOS: Estudo transversal com pacientes de ambulatório de dor crônica. Análise das variáveis clínicas e sociodemográficas, assim como das atividades de vida diária. Avaliação de dor, de sintomas ansiosos e depressivos pela Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, de qualidade de vida pelo questionário Medical Outcomes Study 36 - Item Short Form Health Survey e a análise dos dados no programa estatístico SPSS. RESULTADOS: Foi evidenciada limitação para o trabalho, movimento, lazer e atividade domiciliar, qualidade de vida abaixo da mediana e pior para os domínios aspectos físicos e emocionais. O sono foi muito comprometido, seguido de dificuldade parcial para apetite e atividade sexual. Embora apresentassem sintomas ansiosos e depressivos, a maioria dos participantes estavam moderadamente satisfeitos com o tratamento. CONCLUSÃO: A dor crônica impacta de forma muito significativa na qualidade de vida, comprometendo e limitando as atividades diárias de modo mais intenso nos portadores de sintomas ansiosos e depressivos.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Chronic pain causes functional and social disability, resulting in emotional impact. This study’s objective was to describe the main impairments of activities of daily living, anxious and depressive symptoms, and quality of life in patients with chronic pain. METHODS: Cross-sectional study with chronic pain outpatients. Analysis of clinical and sociodemographic variables, as well as activities of daily living. Assessment of pain, anxious and depressive symptoms by the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, quality of life by the Medical Outcomes Study 36 - Item Short Form Health Survey questionnaire and data analysis by the SPSS statistical software. RESULTS: The study observed limitations in work, movement, leisure and home activities, quality of life below the median and worse for the physical and emotional domains. Sleep was very impaired, followed by partial difficulty with appetite and sexual activity. Although they had anxious and depressive symptoms, most participants were moderately satisfied with their treatment. CONCLUSION: Chronic pain has a very significant impact on quality of life, impairing and limiting daily activities more intensely in individuals with anxious and depressive symptoms.

Resumen Objetivo: Evaluar la independencia funcional de un grupo de pacientes con mucopolisacaridosis utilizando la Medida de Independencia Funcional como herramienta para lograr este propósito. La edad promedio fue de 10.8 (8.67-13.03) años, el peso promedio fue de 23.6 (19.91-27.37) kg y la altura promedio fue de 1 m (0.83-1.17). El tipo de mucopolisacaridosis más prevalente en el estudio fue el tipo VI (n= 14). El puntaje promedio de la medida de independencia funcional total fue 104.4 (97.61-111.19), el promedio para el dominio de movilidad fue 73.50 (68.22-78.78) y el promedio para el dominio de función cognitiva fue 30.90 (28.68-33.13). La consistencia interna de todo el cuestionario fue de 0.859, con valores de 0.966 para el dominio de movilidad y 0.624 para el dominio de función cognitiva. Conclusión: Las puntuaciones más bajas de la medida de independencia funcional se obtuvieron en los siguientes subdominios: autocuidado, locomoción y función cognitiva. El cuestionario de medida de independencia funcional demostró consistencia interna para la evaluación de la independencia funcional en pacientes con mucopolisacaridosis, pudiendo valorar todos los subdominios afectados por separado.

Abstract Objective: To assess the functional independence of a group of patients with mucopolysaccharidosis using the Functional Independence Measure as a tool that accomplishes this purpose. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study of patients with mucopolysaccharidosis. Our data was collected between June 2015 and July 2016. In addition to history of present illness and physical examination each study participant was asked to answer a questionnaire to specifically evaluate their functional independence using the functional independence measure. the internal consistency of the functional independence measure was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. Results: We collected data on 20 patients with mucopolysaccharidosis. The average age was 10.8 (8.67-13.03) years, the average weight was 23.6 (19.91-27.37) kg and the average height was 1 (0.83-1.17) m. The most prevalent type of mucopolysaccharidosis in the study was type VI (n= 14). The average total functional independence measure score was 104.4 (97.61-111.19), the average for the mobility domain was 73.50 (68.22-78.78) and the average for the cognitive function domain was 30.90 (28.68-33.13). The internal consistency of the entire questionnaire was 0.859, with values of 0.966 for the mobility domain and 0.624 for the cognitive function domain. Conclusion: The lowest functional independence measure scores were obtained in the following sub-domains: self-care, locomotion and cognitive function. The functional independence measure questionnaire demonstrated internal consistency for the evaluation of functional independence in patients with mucopolysaccharidosis, being able to value all the affected sub-domains separately.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Comprender la percepción sobre la vulnerabilidad a las IST/VIH/SIDA entre las adolescentes que viven en un asentamiento urbano en una capital del centro de Brasil. Material y Método: Estudio descriptivo y exploratorio, de abordaje cualitativo, realizado en un asentamiento urbano de la periferia de una capital de Brasil central. De un total de 407 adolescentes de la única institución del asentamiento, 107 fueron considerados para el estudio, de ellos, 20 acudieron a consulta hebiátrica y hasta que se alcanzó la saturación de datos, la muestra final quedó constituida por 16 adolescentes. Los datos se obtuvieron a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas. El análisis de contenido se utilizó para tratar los datos, bajo el óptimo de la Teoría de las representaciones sociales. Resultados: Surgieron las siguientes categorías temáticas: sensación de invulnerabilidad a las IST/VIH/ SIDA; Relación de género y vulnerabilidad a las IST/VIH/SIDA y Sexualidad, red social y vulnerabilidad a las IST/VIH/SIDA. Conclusión: Las adolescentes asentadas están marcadas por la subordinación de género, que a menudo es negada y naturalizada por los ideales de legitimar la desigualdad entre los sexos.

ABSTRACT Objective: To understand the perception about the vulnerability to STI/HIV/AIDS among female adolescents living in an urban settlement in a city of Central Brazil. Materials and Methods: Descriptive and exploratory study, with qualitative approach, carried out in an urban settlement on the outskirts of a capital city in central Brazil. From a population of 407 adolescents from the only educational institution in the settlement, 107 were considered for the study. Of these, 20 went for hebiatric consultation and, until data saturation was reached, the final sample consisted of 16 adolescents. Data were obtained through semi-structured interviews. Content analysis was used to treat the data from the perspective of the Theory of Social Representations. Results: The following thematic categories emerged: feeling of invulnerability to STI/HIV/AIDS; gender relationship and vulnerability to STI/HIV/AIDS and sexuality, social network and vulnerability to STI/HIV/AIDS. Conclusion: Adolescent girls from the settlement are marked by gender subordination, which is often denied by them and naturalized by the ideals of legitimizing gender inequality.

RESUMO Objetivo: Compreender a percepção acerca da vulnerabilidade às IST/HIV/AIDS entre as adolescentes residentes em assentamento urbano de uma capital do Brasil Central. Material e Método: Estudo descritivo e exploratório, com abordagem qualitativo, realizado em assentamento da periferia de uma capital do Brasil Central. De um total de 407 adolescentes da única instituição do assentamento, 107 foram considerados para o estúdio, 20 deles assistiram à consulta hebiátrica até atingir a saturação dos dados, a amostra final foi constituída por 16 adolescentes. Os dados foram obtidos por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas. A análise de conteúdo foi utilizada para tratar os dados, sob a ótima da Teoria das Representações Sociais. Resultados: Emergiram as seguintes categorias temáticas: sentimento de invulnerabilidade às IST/HIV/AIDS; relação de gênero e vulnerabilidade às IST/HIV/AIDS e sexualidade, rede social e vulnerabilidade às IST/HIV/AIDS. Conclusão: As adolescentes assentadas são marcadas pela subalternidade de gênero, que muitas vezes é negada e naturalizada pelos ideais de legitimação de desigualdade entre os sexos.

Resumo No Brasil, a malacocultura é desenvolvida principalmente no estado de Santa Catarina, seguida por São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro. No curso do desenvolvimento das atividades da maricultura brasileira, a legislação se adaptou aos requisitos sanitários necessários à comercialização de bivalves. No entanto, o monitoramento de ficotoxinas é um desafio, devido a métodos de referência frequentemente caros. Nesse contexto, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o uso de métodos ecotoxicológicos e bioanalíticos alternativos usando a Artemia franciscana (artemia). Os resultados confirmam que, embora as correlações entre o ensaio de referência em camundongos e os ensaios com artemia não sejam altas, o ensaio alternativo com artemia pode ser incorporado aos programas de monitoramento de ficotoxinas, pois os extratos metanólicos do hepatopâncreas de mexilhões (Perna perna) contendo DSP resultaram em altas taxas de letalidade. Portanto, estudos adicionais de ajustes metodológicos e a inclusão de outros modelos enzimáticos e toxicológicos são necessários para avaliar essas diferenças, e são encorajadas associações entre métodos ecotoxicológicos como métodos de alarme precoce.

Abstract In Brazil, malacoculture is developed mainly in the state of Santa Catarina, followed by São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. In the course of the development of Brazilian mariculture, legislation has addressed the sanitary requirements necessary for bivalve commercialization. However, monitoring phycotoxins is a challenge, due to often costly reference methods. In this context, this study evaluated the use of alternative ecotoxicological and bioanalytical methods using Artemia franciscana (brine shrimp) lethality assessments. The results confirm that, although correlations between the reference mouse assay and the brine shrimp assays were not high, the alternative brine shrimp assay may be incorporated into phycotoxin monitoring programs, as hepatopancreas methanolic extracts of mussel (Perna perna) containing DSP resulted in high lethality rates. Therefore, further methodological adjustment studies and the inclusion of other enzymatic and toxicological models are required to further assess these differences, and associations between ecotoxicological methods as early-alarm methods are encouraged.

Abstract Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) are inborn errors of metabolism caused by deficient lysosomal enzymes, leading to organomegaly, hip osteonecrosis, coarse facial features, bone deformities, joint stiffness, cardiac and pulmonary symptoms (MPS VI) or hypermobility (MPS IVA). Some patients may present with non-classical forms of the disease in which osteoarticular abnormalities are the initial symptoms of non-classical forms. As orthopedists and surgeons are the specialists most frequently consulted before the diagnosis, it is critical that MPS may be considered as a differential diagnosis for patients with bone dysplasia. Experts in Latin America reviewed medical records focusing on disease onset, first symptoms and the follow-up clinical and surgical outcomes of non-classical MPS VI and IVA patients. All patients displayed orthopedic issues, which worsened over time, followed by cardiac and ophthalmological abnormalities. Our findings enlighten the necessity of including non-classical MPS as possible diagnosis for patients who report osteoarticular abnormalities in absence of inflammation.
