Abstract A 23-year-old male patient who sought emergency care with odynophagia, total dysphagia, and 7 days of fever, treated with oral amoxicillin and clavulanic acid without improvement. The physical examination and CT scan showed tonsillitis with multiple tonsilar abscesses. Due to total dysphagia even after intravenous analgesia, hospitalization was decided for supportive fluid therapy and analgesia. During hospitalization, vesiculopustular skin lesions appeared on the upper and lower limbs and trunk. PCR and culture of the pustule and oropharyngeal exudates, and pustule skin biopsy came positive for Monkeypox virus (MPXV). He remained in isolation measures and was discharged after tolerating oral diet.

Resumo Um doente do sexo masculino, com 23 anos, recorreu ao serviço de urgência com um quaro de 7 dias de evolução de odinofagia, disfagia total e febre, sem melhoria com tratamento com amoxicilina e ácido clavulânico por via oral. O exame físico e a tomografia computadorizada revelaram amigdalite com múltiplos abscessos intra-amigdalinos. Pela disfagia total mesmo após analgesia intravenosa, optou-se por internamento para tratamento de suporte. Durante a hospitalização, surgiram lesões cutâneas vesiculopustulosas nos membros superiores e inferiores e tronco. Foram realizados testes de PCR e cultura dos exsudados das pústulas e orofaringe e biópsia da pele da pústula que foram positivos para MPXV. Manteve medidas de isolamento e teve alta após tolerar dieta oral.

Abstract This paper presents an approach to the profile of the general auditors of war during the last decades of the viceroyalty of New Spain. On the basis of a socio-professional study that delves into those who held the post, focusing on elements referring to their judicial practice and their respective particular and family strategies for promotion, the objective is to reconstruct some procedures within the dynamics of the high viceregal administration. We will start by collating information gathered from the preceding bibliography and, mainly, from documentation found in Spanish and Mexican archives. In doing so, we seek to contribute to the study of the functioning of Bourbon military justice and its operatives in overseas environments within the Spanish monarchy, appreciating the effects that reformist processes, the establishment of permanent armies or different wartime situations exerted on these ministers.

Resumen Este artículo presenta una aproximación al perfil de los auditores generales de guerra durante las últimas décadas del virreinato de Nueva España. A partir de un estudio socio-profesional que ahonda en quienes desempeñaron el cargo, centrado en elementos referentes a su ejercicio judicial y sus respectivas estrategias particulares y familiares de promoción, el objetivo consiste en reconstruir algunos procedimientos dentro de las dinámicas propias de la alta administración virreinal. Se parte del cotejo de informaciones recabadas en la bibliografía precedente y, principalmente, de documentación localizada en archivos españoles y mexicanos. Con ello, se trata de contribuir al estudio del funcionamiento de la justicia militar borbónica y sus operarios en entornos ultramarinos dentro de la Monarquía española, y apreciar los efectos que los procesos reformistas, la implantación de ejércitos permanentes o diferentes tesituras bélicas ejercieron en estos ministros.

RESUMEN Introducción: La rápida transmisión y los síntomas graves asociados con la infección aguda por el virus de la chikungunya (CHIKV) en niños lo convierten en un problema de salud altamente preocupante. Objetivo: Este estudio tuvo como objetivo describir las características de la infección aguda por el virus de la chikungunya en niños del Departamento de Caaguazú, Paraguay. Materiales y métodos: Un estudio retrospectivo fue realizado en el Departamento de Caaguazú, Paraguay, en 2023, con todos los pacientes que acudieron al Hospital Regional dentro de los 5 días posteriores al desarrollo de síntomas característicos de la infección aguda por CHIKV y que dieron positivo para el virus mediante RT-PCR. Pacientes con infecciones por Dengue o Zika fueron excluidos. Se recogieron datos sobre las características clínicas mediante un formulario normalizado de registro de casos y se creó un conjunto de datos electrónicos para su análisis. Resultados: Se incluyeron en el estudio un total de 461 niños. 51,6% eran mujeres. Los casos se dividieron en grupos según la edad pediátrica: lactantes (0-23 meses, n=88, 19,1 %), preescolares (2-5 años, n=115, 24,9%), escolares (6-11 años, n=163, 35.4%), and adolescentes (12-17 años and 11 meses, n=95, 20.6 %). La mialgia (64,6%) y la artralgia (63.7%) fueron más prevalentes en escolares y adolescentes. El vómito (89%), la cefalea (89,4%) y el dolor retroorbitario (95%) fueron más comunes en preescolares, escolares y adolescentes, mientras que la erupción cutánea (39,5%) y las petequias (18,5%) fueron más prevalentes en lactantes. Cuatro niños fallecieron durante el período de estudio. Conclusión: La epidemia de virus de la CHIKV de 2023 en Paraguay tuvo diferentes presentaciones clínicas dependiendo de la edad de los niños afectados, con resultados fatales ocurriendo en un pequeño porcentaje de casos.

ABSTRACT Introduction: The rapid transmission and severe symptoms associated with acute chikungunya virus (CHIKV) infection in children make it a highly concerning health issue. Objective: This study aimed to describe the characteristics of acute chikungunya virus infection in children from the Department of Caaguazú, Paraguay. Material and Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted in the Department of Caaguazú, Paraguay, in 2023, with all patients who came to the Regional Hospital within 5 days of developing characteristic symptoms of acute CHIKV infection and tested positive for the virus by RT-PCR. Patients with Dengue or Zika infections were excluded. We collected data on clinical characteristics using a standardized case record form and created an electronic dataset for analysis. Results: A total of 461 children were included in the study. 51.6% were women. Cases were divided into groups based on pediatric age: infants (0-23 months, n=88, 19.1%), preschoolers (2-5 years, n=115, 24.9%), schoolchildren (6-11 years, n=163, 35.4%), and adolescents (12-17 years and 11 months, n=95, 20.6%). Schoolchildren and adolescents experienced a higher prevalence of myalgia (64.6%) and arthralgia (63.7%). Vomiting (89%), headache (89.4%), and retro-orbital pain (95%) were more common in preschoolers, schoolchildren, and adolescents, while rash (39.5%) and petechiae (18.5%) were more prevalent in infants. Four children died during the study period. Conclusion: The 2023 CHIKV virus epidemic in Paraguay had different clinical presentations depending on the age of the affected children, with fatal outcomes occurring in a small percentage of cases.

Abstract: The word Iñikuk gives its name to the participants of the famous ceremony in northern Peru in which the Iñikuk Muchik is elected. Taking this into account, the main objectives of this research have been to explain its formation and possible meaning through the dictionaries consulted and the opinion of expert linguists, and to elaborate some possible approximations to an alternative meaning according to the analysis of a new list of words in Mochica. In addition, we have sought to explain the meaning that the word has taken in the current context of the media and social networks. With the purpose of performing this task, an interesting field work was carried out in the district of Morrope (Lambayeque), where we worked together with the Iñikuk Muchik, local teachers, intellectuals, Mochica culture managers, municipal officials and the people in general.

Resumen: El vocablo Iñikuk da nombre a las participantes de la famosa ceremonia del norte peruano en la que se elige a las Iñikuk Muchik. Teniendo en cuenta ello, la presente investigación ha tenido como principales objetivos explicar su formación y posible significado a través de los diccionarios consultados y la opinión de lingüistas expertos, y elaborar algunas posibles aproximaciones a un significado alterno de acuerdo al análisis de una nueva lista de palabras en mochica. Además, se ha buscado explicar el significado que ha tomado el vocablo en el contexto actual de los medios de comunicación y las redes sociales. Para la realización de esta tarea, se llevó a cabo un interesante trabajo de campo en el distrito de Mórrope (Lambayeque), en donde se trabajó junto a las Iñikuk Muchik, docentes locales, intelectuales, gestores culturales mochicas, funcionarios municipales y la población en general.

Tenant compte de ce fait, les principaux objectifs de notre recherche ont été d’expliquer la formation du terme et son possible sens au moyen des dictionnaires consultés et de l’opinion de linguistes experts, et de proposer des approximations possibles a un sens alternatif, selon l’analyse d’une nouvelle liste de mots en mochica. Nous avons aussi voulu expliquer le sens qu’a pris ce mot dans le contexte actuel de médias et des réseaux sociaux. Pour ce faire, nous avons mené un intéressant travail sur le terrain, dans la commune (distrito) de Mórrope (département de Lambayeque), où nous avons travaillé avec les Iñikuk Muchik, des professeurs locaux, des intellectuels, des animateurs culturels mochicas, des fonctionnaires de la mairie et la population en général.

ABSTRACT The aim of this article is to establish the difference between two currents of thought which, although they come from the same liberal tradition, have given rise to different political trends in the present day, intervening on the democratisation of the contemporary school. Hermeneutic pedagogy is used as a working method to analyse the historical, political and educational path of liberalism, as well as its implications. In this way, two liberal traditions are identified, each of which has advocated a different pedagogical model, reconstructing a political microcosm in schools in order to reproduce itself. RESUMEN El objetivo de este artículo es establecer la diferencia entre dos corrientes de pensamiento que, aunque proceden de una misma tradición liberal, han dado lugar a sendas corrientes políticas en la actualidad, interviniendo sobre la democratización de la escuela contemporánea. ABSTRACT Objective: After initial treatment, up to 30% of patients with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) have incomplete response, mainly cervical lymph node (LN) disease. Previous studies have suggested that active surveillance (AS) is a possible option for these patients. Our aim was to report the results of AS in patients with PTC and cervical LN disease. Materials and methods: In this retrospective observational study, we included adult patients treated and followed for PTC, who presented with cervical LN disease and were managed with AS. Growth was defined as an increase ≥ 3mm in either diameter. Results: We included 32 patients: 27 (84.4%) women, age of 39 ± 14 years, all initially treated with total thyroidectomy, and 22 (69%) with therapeutic neck dissection. Cervical LN disease was diagnosed 1 year (0.3-12.6) after initial management, with a diameter of 9.0 mm (6.0-19.0). After a median AS of 4.3 years (0.6-14.1), 4 (12.5%) patients had LN growth: 2 (50%) of whom were surgically removed, 1 (25%) was effectively treated with radiotherapy, and 1 (25%) had a scheduled surgery. Tg increase was the only predictive factor of LN growth evaluated as both the delta Tg (p < 0.0366) and percentage of Tg change (p < 0.0140). None of the included patients died, had local complications due to LN growth or salvage therapy, or developed distant metastases during follow-up. Conclusions: In selected patients with PTC and suspicious cervical LNs diagnosed after initial treatment, AS is a feasible and safe strategy as it allows effective identification and treatment of the minority of patients who progress. ABSTRACT Introduction. Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) infection typically presents as an acute febrile illness that is self-limiting and predominantly characterized by severe polyarthralgia and myalgia. Objective. The purpose of this study was to describe the clinical characteristics of acute chikungunya virus infection in an adult population. Materials and Methods. This was a descriptive, cross-sectional, observational study. The study population included adults from a specific region of Paraguay during the CHIKV epidemic in 2022-2023. Inclusion criteria encompassed all patients who presented to the hospital within five days after developing typical symptoms of acute CHIKV infection, confirmed by RT-PCR, and after excluding the presence of dengue and Zika. Results. A total of 803 adults were included, with an average age of 45.13 ± 18.63 years and a male/female ratio of 1:1.79. At epidemiological weeks 8, 10, 11, 78, 120, and 132 cases were documented, respectively. The most common clinical manifestations were fever in 97% of the cases (n=583), arthralgia and arthritis in 86.03% (n=653), myalgias in 77.08% (n=585), and headache in 73.91% (n=561). There were 6 deaths (0.75% of the total cases). Conclusion. The clinical presentation of CHIKV during the 2023 epidemic in Paraguay is consistent with previous descriptions in other regions. The disease generated a significant number of medical consultations and led to saturation of the public health system, which was fatal in a small percentage of cases.

La infección por el virus del Chikunguña (CHIKV) se presenta típicamente como una enfermedad febril aguda que es autolimitada y se caracteriza predominantemente por poliartralgia y mialgias graves. Objetivo. el propósito de este estudio fue describir las características clínicas de la infección aguda por el virus del Chikunguña en una población adulta. Materiales y Método. Este fue un estudio observacional, descriptivo y transversal. La población de estudio incluyó adultos de una región específica de Paraguay durante la epidemia de CHIKV en 2022-2023. Los criterios de inclusión abarcaron a todos los pacientes que se presentaron el Hospital Regional dentro de los cinco días posteriores al desarrollo de síntomas típicos de CHIKV, confirmados por RT-PCR, y tras excluir dengue y Zika. Resultados. Se incluyeron un total de 803 adultos, con una edad media de 45,13 ± 18.63 años y una proporción de género masculino/femenino de 1:1.79. En las semanas epidemiológicas 8, 10 y 11 se documentaron 78, 120 y 132 casos, respectivamente. Las manifestaciones clínicas más comunes fueron fiebre en el 97% de los casos (n=583), artralgia y artritis en el 86,03% (n=653), mialgias en el 77,08% (n=585) y cefalea en el 73,91% (n=561). Hubo 6 muertes (0,75% del total de casos). Conclusión. La presentación clínica de CHIKV durante la epidemia 2023 en Paraguay es consistente con descripciones previas en otras regiones. ABSTRACT Introduction: Brachial plexus neuropathy is a rare complication of therapeutic pronation at the intensive care unit. Few studies explore the association between ICU-managed COVID-19 and the development of plexopathies of the upper limbs. Objective: Synthesize the medical literature on the relationship between COVID-19 requiring prone ventilation and brachial plexus neuropathy. Methods: A scoping review including observational studies in PubMed and Scopus. Results were summarized based on the general characteristics of each included article. Results: Eleven full-text articles were included, identifying case series (n = 4), case reports (n = 3), retrospective (n = 2) and prospective (n = 2) cohort studies, with a total sample of 361 patients. The brachial plexus injury is a rare complication of prone ventilation in the ICU. Males with a history of high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus and obesity are more likely to develop this injury. The main clinical manifestations were weakness, paresthesia, and neuropathic pain with an onset time from one to four weeks after the end of pronation. Conclusion: Prone ventilation in the treatment of patients with severe COVID-19 has been increasing along with neurological complications such as brachial plexus neuropathy.

RESUMEN Introducción: La neuropatía del plexo braquial es una complicación rara de la pronación terapéutica en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos. Pocos estudios exploran la asociación entre la COVID-19 manejada en la UCI y el desarrollo de plexopatías de las extremidades superiores. Objetivo: Sintetizar la literatura médica sobre la relación entre el COVID-19 que requiere ventilación en decúbito prono y la neuropatía del plexo braquial. Métodos: Una revisión de alcance que incluye estudios observacionales en PubMed y Scopus. Los resultados se resumieron en función de las características generales de cada artículo incluido. Resultados: Se incluyeron 11 artículos a texto completo; se identificaron series de casos (n = 4), reportes de casos (n = 3), estudios de cohortes retrospectivos (n = 2) y prospectivos (n = 2) con muestra total de 361 pacientes. La lesión del plexo braquial es una complicación rara de la ventilación en decúbito prono en la UCI. Los varones con antecedentes de hipertensión arterial, diabetes mellitus y obesidad son más propensos a desarrollar esta lesión. Las principales manifestaciones clínicas fueron debilidad, parestesia y dolor neuropático con un tiempo de aparición de una a cuatro semanas después del final de la pronación. Conclusión: La ventilación de prono en el tratamiento de pacientes con COVID-19 grave ha ido en aumento junto con complicaciones neurológicas como la neuropatía del plexo braquial.

Abstract Background The LYP tyrosine phosphatase presents a SNP (1858C >T) that increases the risk of developing autoimmune diseases such as type I diabetes and arthritis. It remains unclear how this SNP affects LYP function and promotes the development of these diseases. The scarce information about LYP substrates is in part responsible for the poor understanding of LYP function. Results In this study, we identify in T lymphocytes several adaptor proteins as potential substrates targeted by LYP, including FYB, SLP-76, HS-1, Vav, SKAP1 and SKAP2. We also show that LYP co-localizes with SLP76 in microclusters, upon TCR engagement. Conclusions These data indicate that LYP may modulate T cell activation by dephosphorylating several adaptor proteins, such as FYB, SLP-76, HS-1, Vav, SKAP1 and SKAP2 upon TCR engagement.

Abstract In Cuban Higher Education, postgraduate studies constitute an area of continuous training of extraordinary importance. The evaluation of its quality has been a permanent imperative, which is carried out by the National Accreditation Board of the Republic of Cuba (JAN), both for its undergraduate careers and institutions and for academic training programs. These processes are systematically carried out in periods determined based on the category obtained in each evaluation process previously carried out by JAN. The objective of this article is to present the main results obtained as an experience in the evaluation and accreditation of the Master's program "Technologies in Educational Processes" developed at the Reference Center for Advanced Education (CREA) of the Cujae. To achieve this, theoretical level methods were used such as: Analytical-synthetic, Documentary study, Modeling and Functional structural systemic. The evaluation and accreditation were carried out under the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, virtually and remotely integrating Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The final result was obtaining the category of "Program of Excellence.

Resumen En la Educación Superior cubana, el postgrado constituye un área de formación continua de extraordinaria importancia. La evaluación de su calidad ha constituido un imperante permanente, lo cual es ejecutado por la Junta de Acreditación Nacional de la República de Cuba (JAN), tanto para sus carreras de pregrado e instituciones, como para programas de formación académica. Estos procesos se realizan sistemáticamente en períodos que se determinan a partir de la categoría obtenida en cada proceso de evaluación anteriormente realizado por la JAN. El artículo que se presenta tiene como objetivo exponer las principales experiencias y resultados obtenidos en la evaluación y acreditación del programa de maestría “Las Tecnologías en los Procesos Educativos” que se desarrolla en el Centro de Referencia para la Educación de Avanzada (CREA) de la Cujae. Para alcanzarlo se utilizaron métodos del nivel teórico como: el Analítico-sintético, el Estudio documental, la Modelación y el Sistémico estructural funcional. La evaluación y acreditación se realizó en condiciones de la pandemia de la COVID-19, de forma virtual y a distancia integrando las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC). El resultado final fue la obtención de la categoría de “Programa de Excelencia”.

Resumen Antecedentes: Las poblaciones de Magnolia pugana están disminuyendo, asimismo la precipitación disminuirá 10 % y la temperatura aumentará (2-4 °C) en su área de distribución, de acuerdo al escenario de cambio climático más severo, lo que puede comprometer su germinación. Hipótesis: La interacción del aumento de temperatura y disminución del potencial hídrico reduce y retrasa la germinación de Magnolia pugana. Especie de estudio: Magnolia pugana, endémica del occidente de México, en peligro de extinción. Sitio y año de estudio: Sur de Zacatecas y centro de Jalisco, México. Abril, 2019. Materiales y métodos: Se evaluó la viabilidad de semillas con la prueba de tetrazolio. Se analizó el efecto de temperatura (24, 28 y 37 °C), potencial hídrico (con PEG 8000) (0, -0.3, -0.6, -0.9, -1.2 MPa) y su interacción sobre porcentaje y tiempo medio de germinación, con ANOVA factoriales. Resultados: La viabilidad fue 80 %. Las interacciones entre temperatura y potencial hídrico sobre porcentaje y tiempo medio de germinación fueron significativas. No hubo germinación a 37 °C. El porcentaje de germinación más alto (78 %) se produjo a 24 °C y -0.3 MPa, el menor (3 %) a 28 °C y -0.6 MPa. A 24 °C y 0 MPa germinaron en menor tiempo (23.9 ± 1.5 días), a 28 °C y -0.9 MPa se retrasó 1.5 veces. Conclusiones: La interacción entre bajo potencial hídrico y aumento de temperatura redujo la germinabilidad de Magnolia pugana, condiciones previstas por futuros escenarios de cambio climático, con esto su vulnerabilidad a la extinción podría aumentar.

Abstract Background: Magnolia pugana populations are declining, in addition, it is estimated that precipitation will decrease by up to 10 % and temperatures will increase (2-4 °C) under the most severe climate change scenario, which may affect germination. Hypotheses: The interaction of increased temperature and decreased water potential reduces and delays the germination of Magnolia pugana seeds. Studied species: Magnolia pugana, an endangered species endemic to western Mexico. Study site and dates: Southern Zacatecas and central Jalisco, Mexico. April 2019. Materials and methods: Seed viability was evaluated with tetrazolium test. In addition, the effects of temperature (24, 28, and 37 °C), water potential with PEG 8000 (0, -0.3, -0.6, -0.9, -1.2 MPa) and its interaction on the percentage and mean germination time were analyzed with factorial ANOVA tests. Results: Viability was 80 %. The interactions between temperature and water potential on germination percentage and mean germination time were significant. There was no germination at 37 °C. The highest germination (78 %) was at 24 °C and -0.3 MPa, while the lowest (3 %) was at 28 °C and -0.6 MPa. The control treatment (24 °C and 0 MPa) facilitated germination in a shorter time (23.9 ± 1.5 days). At 28 °C and -0.9 MPa, the mean germination time was slowed by 1.5 times. Conclusions: Magnolia pugana germinability was reduced by the interaction between low water potentials and increased temperature, conditions predicted by future climate change scenarios, therefore its vulnerability to extinction could increase.

RESUMEN El tratamiento no operatorio (TNO) de lesiones abdominales en traumatismo cerrado de abdomen (TCA) se basa en pilares clínicos y radiológicos. Presentamos el de caso de paciente masculino de 16 años que ingresa en el Servicio de Emergencias por dolor abdominal en hipocondrio izquierdo y antecedente de traumatismo cerrado de abdomen reciente. Se establece protocolo de TNO basado en cuadro clínico e imágenes pero, en forma posterior, ante la evolución desfavorable, se cambia la conducta y se realiza tratamiento laparoscópico conservador de órgano.

ABSTRACT Nonoperative management (NOM) of organ injuries in abdominal blunt trauma (ABT) is based on clinical and imaging test findings. We herein present a 16-year-old male patient with a history of recent blunt abdominal trauma was admitted to the emergency department for abdominal pain in the left hypochondrium. A protocol for NOM was established based on the clinical picture and imaging findings, but afterwards, in view of the unfavorable progression, the approach was modified to laparoscopic organ-preserving surgery.

RESUMEN Las turberas son humedales caracterizados como pantanos de lugares fríos y húmedos, muy extremos. En Chile existen varios tipos de ellas: Turberas esfagnosas (minerotróficas), pulvinadas (ombrotróficas), turberas graminosas, Turberas turberas arbustivas y turberas boscosas. Se trabajó en las turberas del límite norte del área de ellas, en el Parque Nacional Nahuelbuta, ubicado en la Cordillera de la Costa aproximadamente 1200 a 2300 m de altitud entre las Regiones de Bío-Bío y la Araucanía, Chile. La flora se estudió con métodos tradicionales y la vegetación con metodología fitosociológica y los resultados fueron confirmados con estadística multivariada de clasificación y de ordenación. La flora vascular, muscícola y líquénica presentó escasa riqueza florística, sólo 38 especies. Todas las especies de flora son nativas e incluso, seis de ellas, endémicas. Esta flora da origen a cuatro nuevas asociaciones vegetales turbosas para Chile: dos pulvinadas (Myrteolo-Donatietum fasciculariae y Gaultherio-Oreoboletum obtusangulae), una esfagnosa (Carici-Sphagnetum magellanicii) y una graminosa (Bacharido-Festucetum scabriusculae). Al comparar las turberas estudiadas con aquellas más australes, las pulvinadas de donatia aparecen como más homogéneas, que aquellas esfagnosas, de hecho, las primeras comparten cinco especies y las segundas, sólo dos. En general se encontró una mayor variación de las turberas pulvinadas en la Región de Aysén y de las esfagnosas en la Región de Chiloé, estas últimas salen del conglomerado que forman los otros cuatro lugares. Se confirmó que en ambos extremos latitudinales las turberas son más pobres en especies y la mayor riqueza se presenta en las regiones intermedias.

ABSTRACT Peat bogs are wetlands characterized as swamps of very extreme cold and wet places. In Chile there are several types of them: sphagnum bogs (minerotrophic), pulvinated bogs (ombrotrophic), grassy bogs, shrubby bogs and wooded bogs. This work was carried out in the peat bogs of the northern limit of them areal, in Nahuelbuta National Park, located in the Cordillera de la Costa approximately 1200 to 2300 m above sea level between the Regions of Bío-Bío and Araucanía, Chile. The flora was studied with traditional methods and the vegetation with phytosociological methodology and the results were confirmed with multivariate classification and ordination statistics. The vascular, moss and lichenic flora showed little floristic richness, only 38 species. All the flora species are native and six of them are endemic. This flora gives rise to four new peaty plant associations for Chile: two pulvinate-bogs (Myrteolo-Donatietum fasciculariae and Gaultherio-Oreoboletum obtusangulae), one sphagnum-bogs (Carici- Sphagnetum magellanicii) and one grassy-bogs (Bacharido-Festucetum scabriusculae). When comparing the peat bogs studied with those further south, the donatia pulvinate-bogs appear to be more homogeneous than the sphagnum peat bogs, in fact, the former share five species and the latter, only two. In general, a greater variation of the pulvinated peat bogs was found in the Aysén Region and of the sphagnum bogs in the Chiloé Region, the latter coming out of the conglomerate formed by the other four places. It was confirmed that in both latitudinal extremes the peat bogs are poorer in species and the greatest richness occurs in the intermediate regions.
