ABSTRACT This article demonstrate how indigenous culture has long been absent from Brazilian visual thinking and evaluates the possibilities of thinking about its history from indigenous artists point of view. It presents a theoretical and documentary review of the ways in which art history and visual thinking developed in Brazil deal with the artistic aesthetic production of the indigenous peoples. It proposes the possibility of revising the history of art, incorporating the thought of indigenous artists, given the need for an epistemological turn in the History of Art to account for the differences that exist in Brazil and Latin America.

Abstract Root growth is crucial in crop production and is influenced by soil attributes, but also affects soil chemical, physical and biological quality, along with management and conservation practices. In this paper, soybean root growth data from a field study at Guarapuava, Paraná State, Brazil are examined. In 2019, at a farm with over 35 years of no-tillage system (NT) adoption, three management sets were established in 1,1 ha macroplots: 1) farmer's NT standard (FNT), without terraces, with downhill farming and with autumn fallow; 2) autumn cover crops and contour farming added to FNT, as best management practices (BMP); 3) terraces and contour farming (TC) added to FNT. Soybean was sowed in November 2020 and 2021, and minirhizotron tubes (1 m long, 7 cm wide) were installed into the soil just after soybean emerged in 2020. Root length, area, volume, and diameter were evaluated with the help of a root scanner. Data were submitted to descriptive statistics. The added conservation practices improved root length, area and volume, significantly for BMP in the subsoil (40-60 cm) compared to FNT standard. Minirhizotron enabled the study of roots in the field, but data variability was high, so that for annual crops with pivoting roots like soybean, root observation points (6 per plot) must be increased, and crop stand close to the observation points is a critical font of error. attributes chemical quality paper Guarapuava State examined 2019 3 notillage no tillage (NT adoption 11 1 1, macroplots farmers farmer s , (FNT) fallow 2 (BMP) TC (TC 202 2021 ( long wide length volume scanner statistics 4060 40 60 (40-6 high 6 plot increased error 201 (FNT (BMP 20 406 4 (40- (40 (4

Abstract We present a checklist of Odonata (Insecta) species occurring in streams in the municipality of Araquari, northeastern state of Santa Catarina (SC), southern Brazil. Five stream reaches were surveyed bi-annually from March 2016 to March 2018. Overall, we recorded 18 taxa (16 species) from 12 genera and four families. Coenagrionidae and Libellulidae were the most species-rich families (seven species each; 43% of the total number of species recorded each). Idioneura ancilla Selys, 1860, Telagrion longum Selys, 1876 (Coenagrionidae) and Erythrodiplax umbrata (Linnaeus, 1758) (Libellulidae) are recorded for the first time in the state of Santa Catarina. Species occurrence patterns were remarkably seasonal in the studied streams, with 70% of the species recorded in the summer only, and only 25% of the species occurring in both seasons at the same stream. Our findings revealed odonate communities with marked space-time interactions in species occurrence and contribute to understand odonate biology in subtropical streams in a human-dominated landscape, and also contribute to improve the knowledge on odonate distribution in South America. SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: To compare the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) tests for the identification of cognitive deficit (CD) in elderly patients with heart failure (HF). METHODS: This was a cross-sectional study with an observational design involving 43 elderly patients with HF of both sexes, treated by the Unified Health System, who were able to understand and follow the study instructions. A sociodemographic and clinical questionnaire and the MMSE and MoCA neurocognitive tests were applied. RESULTS: The mean age of the patients was 67 years; 67.44% were male; 53.49% were white; 58.14% had 1–4 years of schooling; 58.14% had an income of half to one minimum wage; 55.81% were married; 53.49% had a family history of HF; 90.7% denied smoking; 83.72% denied alcohol intake; 65.12% did not practice physical activity; 83.72% were hypertensive; 30.23% were diabetic; 57.89% had LVEF ≥ 50%; 39.53% have NYHA II; and 88.37% did not have a pacemaker. In the identification of CD, the MMSE test detected it in 25.58% of the patients, while the MoCA test identified it in 23.26% (p=0.043). CONCLUSION: It was concluded that the MMSE test performed better than the MoCA test in the identification of CD in elderly patients with HF. OBJECTIVE MiniMental Mini Mental (MMSE (MoCA (CD . Abstract As it flows through the city of São Paulo, the Tietê River receives heavy discharges of industrial effluents and domestic sewage, resulting from the city’s continuous urban expansion and the inadequacy of its sanitary sewage system. This study focused on an analysis of the efficiency of PGα21Ca and quaternary ammonium tannate, water purification products, based on coagulation-flocculation and sedimentation tests, followed by treatment with a hydrodynamic cavitation reactor associated with ozonation in the treatment of Tietê River water. The removal of turbidity, apparent color, and chemical oxygen demand (COD) were evaluated. Jar testing assays were conducted, and the best turbidity removal rates were obtained with a concentration of 300 mg L-1 for PGα21Ca and 150 mg L-1 for quaternary ammonium tannate. The coagulation-flocculation treatment removed approximately 93% of turbidity for both coagulants. After combining coagulation-flocculation with hydrodynamic cavitation with ozonation, the final COD removal rate applying PGα21Ca was 47.63% in 1 hour of reaction, while that of quaternary ammonium tannate was 40.13% in 2 hours of reaction. Although the results appear to indicate the superior performance of PGα21Ca, it should be noted that the treatment with quaternary ammonium tannate also provided good results in reducing turbidity, COD, and apparent color, using a smaller dose of this coagulant and that its use may be more advantageous from an environmental point of view, due to its natural composition. Generalized anxiety disorder is a highly prevalent mental disorder. Previous data indicate that more than 18 million Brazilians suffer from this condition. Traditionally, generalized anxiety disorder has been considered a mild mental health disorder, despite its links to lower life expectancy, cardiovascular disease, and suicide. The aim of this article is to combine elements of systematic and critical reviews to produce a synthesis of the best evidence about generalized anxiety disorder treatment. Systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and randomized controlled trials were included. The descriptor used in the search was “generalized anxiety disorder,” which resulted in 4,860 articles and seven other studies, of which 59 were selected. Antidepressants and benzodiazepines were indicated, as was pregabalin, and atypical antipsychotics, such as quetiapine, have been studied. Individual cognitive behavior therapy (third wave) has proven effective. There is extensive literature on many effective treatments for generalized anxiety disorder. The present review summarizes the therapeutic possibilities, emphasizing those available in Brazil. Further studies are needed to compare other available medications, assess psychotherapies and new treatments in greater depth, as well as to assess the ideal duration of therapy. ABSTRACT The limited temporal completeness and taxonomic accuracy of species lists, made available in a traditional manner in scientific publications, has always represented a problem. These lists are invariably limited to a few taxonomic groups and do not represent up-to-date knowledge of all species and classifications. In this context, the Brazilian megadiverse fauna is no exception, and the Catálogo Taxonômico da Fauna do Brasil (CTFB) (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/), made public in 2015, represents a database on biodiversity anchored on a list of valid and expertly recognized scientific names of animals in Brazil. The CTFB is updated in near real time by a team of more than 800 specialists. By January 1, 2024, the CTFB compiled 133,691 nominal species, with 125,138 that were considered valid. Most of the valid species were arthropods (82.3%, with more than 102,000 species) and chordates (7.69%, with over 11,000 species). These taxa were followed by a cluster composed of Mollusca (3,567 species), Platyhelminthes (2,292 species), Annelida (1,833 species), and Nematoda (1,447 species). All remaining groups had less than 1,000 species reported in Brazil, with Cnidaria (831 species), Porifera (628 species), Rotifera (606 species), and Bryozoa (520 species) representing those with more than 500 species. Analysis of the CTFB database can facilitate and direct efforts towards the discovery of new species in Brazil, but it is also fundamental in providing the best available list of valid nominal species to users, including those in science, health, conservation efforts, and any initiative involving animals. The importance of the CTFB is evidenced by the elevated number of citations in the scientific literature in diverse areas of biology, law, anthropology, education, forensic science, and veterinary science, among others. publications problem uptodate up date classifications context exception (CTFB http//fauna.jbrj.gov.br/, httpfaunajbrjgovbr http //fauna.jbrj.gov.br/ , jbrj gov br (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/) 2015 Brazil 80 specialists 1 2024 133691 133 691 133,69 125138 125 138 125,13 82.3%, 823 82 3 (82.3% 102000 102 000 102,00 7.69%, 769 7 69 (7.69% 11000 11 11,00 . 3,567 3567 567 (3,56 2,292 2292 2 292 (2,29 1,833 1833 833 (1,83 1,447 1447 447 (1,44 1000 1,00 831 (83 628 (62 606 (60 520 (52 50 users science health biology law anthropology education others http//fauna.jbrj.gov.br/ faunajbrjgovbr //fauna.jbrj.gov.br (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/ 201 8 202 13369 13 133,6 12513 12 125,1 82.3% (82.3 10200 10 00 102,0 7.69% 76 6 (7.69 1100 11,0 3,56 356 56 (3,5 2,29 229 29 (2,2 1,83 183 83 (1,8 1,44 144 44 (1,4 100 1,0 (8 62 (6 60 52 (5 5 http//fauna.jbrj.gov.br (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br 20 1336 133, 1251 125, 82.3 (82. 1020 0 102, 7.69 (7.6 110 11, 3,5 35 (3, 2,2 22 (2, 1,8 18 (1, 1,4 14 4 ( 82.
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to compare the effects of velocity-oriented (VOTF) and strength-oriented (SOTF) functional training (TF) on different parameters of running change of direction (COD), jumping ability and linear velocity in under-20 soccer players. For this, 22 players were randomly assigned to VOFT and SOFT groups. The participants were evaluated at the pre- and post-intervention moment in the L-running test to the right side (CODLD) and to the left side (CODLE) to evaluate the fast COD (≤ 90°) and in the zigzag test to evaluate the strength COD (> 90°). Jump height was measured by countermovement jump (CMJ) and squat jump (SJ). Maximum speed was assessed by the 20-meter sprint test. The change of direction deficit index (COD deficit) was calculated for all COD tests. Both groups showed significant improvement over time in CODLD, zigzag test, COD-deficit CODLD, and COD zigzag deficit. The 20-meter sprint test, CODLE, and COD-deficit CODLE did not differ significantly for either group at any time point. Despite not showing a statistically significant difference over time, CMJ had a small effect size for VOFT and SOFT. At the same time, the SJ showed a moderate effect size for VOFT and a small effect size for SOFT. Furthermore, there was no significant difference between groups for any variable. Therefore, it is concluded that the application of FT protocols oriented towards speed or strength as a complement to tactical technical training, over four weeks, promotes significant changes in different COD running parameters in under-20 soccer players.

Abstract Sheep production systems face numerous challenges, which make decision-making a process fraught with risks and uncertainties. Modelling is a helpful tool in this respect, as it allows decision-makers to evaluate the behaviour of variables and their interrelationships, in addition to using previous or related information to predict results and simulate different scenarios. The advent of prediction models has made it possible to monitor the weight of an animal and determine the best time for its sale. Additionally, it allows producers to estimate the weights of the carcass and major marketable cuts before slaughter. All this information is directly associated with the profitability and success of the production activity. Therefore, in view of the different applications of mathematical models in production systems, this literature review examines concepts in modelling studies and the importance of using prediction models in meat sheep production. Furthermore, it addresses the practical application of modelling studies in predicting dry matter intake and carcass traits of meat sheep through correlated variables.

abstract: Experimental investigations have been commonly used to improve the existing knowledge about structural design, presenting accurate conclusions regarding structure behavior. However, considering the limitations of experimental studies, such as restricted amount of strain gauges, unexpected pathologies, difficulties to foresee the correct position of cracks, or simply saving in costs, the use of numerical analysis can present some innovative approaches to understand the process of failure in concrete elements, presenting easier results where experimental programs can hardly report. This study presents the numerical analysis of eight beams experimented by Sherwood [26], with two different sizes and variable aggregate sizes, seeking to understand the influence of coarse aggregate size in shear strength of beams without stirrups. The numerical approach was used to derive the influence of each internal shear mechanism and to identify the specific amount of dowel force, shear transfer by uncracked compression zone and aggregate interlock portion. The results showed that fair results can be obtained by 2D smeared crack approaches, enabling the identification of major aggregate interlock portion in beams with bigger coarse aggregate sizes. Comparing the size effect in beams allowed us to conclude that a higher contribution of aggregate interlock contribution can be obtained in large beams, with almost 64% of the total contribution, whereas smaller beams had only 43%. To evaluate the accuracy of the studied mechanisms, the results of Sherwood [26] were compared with the standards Model Code [23], CSA-A.23.3 [24], NBR 6118 [38], and ACI 318 [39]. Regarding the prediction of element rupture by concrete internal mechanisms, the normative instructions Model Code [23] and CSA A.23.3 [24] were the closest to the experimental results.

ABSTRACT No-tillage system (NTS) plays a prominent role in conservation agriculture, however, its benefits can be further improved by adopting complementary soil management and conservation practices, such as using autumnal cover crops, contour seeding, and terraces. This study aimed to evaluate how soil biological activity responds to soil management and conservation systems. The treatments consisted of three macroplots with an area of 11.000 m2 each, as follows: a) Non-Terraced catchment (NTC), cultivated in NTS similar to most farmers of the region, in which the agricultural operations are carried out in the direction of the slope and without terraces used; b) Best Management Practices (BMPs) were adopted in NTS with additional autumnal cultivation of cover crops, and also the direction of machine traffic was transverse to the slope direction; and c) Terraced catchment (TC), cultivated in NTS was associated to mechanical practices to erosion control, using wide base terrace on level. Soil microbial properties sampled in the 0.00-0.10 m layer were evaluated during 2019, 2020, and 2021, all shortly after the summer crop harvest. Natural inoculum potential of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), respirometry, metabolic coefficient, acid phosphatase activity, and organic carbon and nitrogen in the microbial biomass were assessed. Averages of each microbiological properties were compared through the confidence intervals (p<0.05). The results showed a greater potential for AMF inoculum in BMPs and TC systems. The NTC showed the highest values of respirometry and metabolic quotient, releasing 31.7 and 27.3 % more CO2 compared to BMPs and TC, respectively. The BMPs and TC were able to retain 13.8 and 16.5 % more carbon in the microbial biomass and 8.0 and 8.8 % more nitrogen in the biomass than NTC, respectively. Adopting soil management and conservation practices such as autumn cover crops, level seeding, and wide base terrace on level improved the soil microbial properties, with an increase in AMF inoculum potential, higher levels of acid phosphatase activity, and increment of carbon and nitrogen in microbial biomass.
ABSTRACT Turbulent flow is responsible for a significant portion of damages and failures in dams. This paper sought to introduce novel approaches to the estimation of typical parameters used in the design of stilling basins. The standard deviations of pressure samples of 24 hydraulic jumps were analysed throughout the stilling basin longitudinal centreline, and the positions of maximum pressure fluctuation were identified. Next, mean and extreme pressures occurring at this position were calculated. Finally, these parameters were plotted against the inflow Froude number and curves were adjusted to the data. The position where maximum turbulence of undular, weak and oscillating jumps occurs varies according to the Froude number. Steady and strong jumps are more likely to induce negative pressures on the stilling basin. The findings of this paper broaden the knowledge on which regions of the stilling basin must receive special attention, and on how to minimize the chances of damages. dams basins 2 centreline identified Next calculated Finally data undular attention

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: COVID-19 has brought emerging public health emergency and new challenges. It configures a complex panorama that has been requiring a set of coordinated actions and has innovation as one of its pillars. In particular, the use of digital tools plays an important role. In this context, this study presents a screening algorithm that uses a machine learning model to assess the probability of a diagnosis of COVID-19 based on clinical data. METHODS: This algorithm was made available for free on an online platform. The project was developed in three phases. First, an machine learning risk model was developed. Second, a system was developed that would allow the user to enter patient data. Finally, this platform was used in teleconsultations carried out during the pandemic period. RESULTS: The number of accesses during the period was 4,722. A total of 126 assistances were carried out from March 23, 2020, to June 16, 2020, and 107 satisfaction survey returns were received. The response rate to the questionnaires was 84.92%, and the ratings obtained regarding the satisfaction level were higher than 4.8 (on a 0–5 scale). The Net Promoter Score was 94.4. CONCLUSION: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first online application of its kind that presents a probabilistic assessment of COVID-19 using machine learning models exclusively based on the symptoms and clinical characteristics of users. The level of satisfaction was high. The integration of machine learning tools in telemedicine practice has great potential.
