RESUMO: Descrevemos os achados patológicos de um aborto causado por infecção por Yersinia enterocolitica em uma ovelha. Um feto ovino abortado, em estágio tardio de gestação, e a placenta correspondente foram submetidos à avaliação patológica. As alterações patológicas estavam restritas ao corioalantoide. Macroscopicamente, os cotilédones e as regiões intercotiledonárias estavam avermelhadas e os cotilédones estavam cobertos por pequena quantidade de fibrina. As lesões histológicas consistiam em placentite fibrinosupurativa necrosante multifocal severa, com vasculite fibrinoide e mineralização. A cultura bacteriana de amostras de pulmão, abomaso e placenta revelou crescimento puro de Y. enterocolitica. Este relato descreve o primeiro caso de infecção por Y. enterocolitica causando aborto em ovino no Brasil. ABSTRACT: We described the pathological findings of an abortion associated with Yersinia enterocolitica infection in an ewe. A late-gestation aborted ovine fetus and placenta were submitted for necropsy. Pathologic changes were restricted to the chorioallantois. Grossly, cotyledons and intercodilenary regions had areas of mild red discoloration, and cotyledons were covered with a small amount of fibrin. Histological lesions consisted of multifocal, severe necrotizing and fibrinosuppurative placentitis with fibrinoid vasculitis and mineralization. Bacterial culture of lung, abomasum, and placenta samples yielded pure growth of Y. enterocolitica. Abstract Climate change (CC) is the greatest evidence of the "metamorphosis of the world" and is changing the temperature and rainfall patterns, but also the social, cultural and health systems on planet Earth. The unpredictability of climactic phenomena and their multidimensional impacts on human and environmental health contribute to making our understanding of the world increasingly difficult. Moreover, history has proven that technoscience alone is not enough to deal with these problems. A global appeal is now emerging for the humanities and social sciences to also deal with the human and non-human issues raised by CC, notably through their integration with the areas of health and sustainability. The aim of this article is to present and discuss some of the first results of the Composing Worlds: Humanities, Well-Being and Health transdisciplinary network, which consists of a network of experts in the humanities, social sciences and health who think about issues of well-being and health in contemporary technological societies. The methodology used in the first phase of the project consisted of an interview with open questions, made by the network of 12 researchers. This was an exploratory study that used thematic analysis to identify the original key ideas of each author and corresponding main themes. The themes were then organised into semantic groups or thematic clusters. It is hoped that some of these clusters will contribute to discussing how CC has already altered our ways of being, living and thinking about the world, and will also contribute to dealing with the challenges related to the risks of CC on health and well-being throughout the 21st century.

Resumo As alterações climáticas (AC) são a maior evidência da “metamorfose do mundo” e estão a mudar os regimes de temperatura e de pluviosidade, mas também os sistemas sociais, culturais e de saúde no planeta Terra. A imprevisibilidade dos fenómenos climáticos e os seus impactes multidimensionais na saúde humana e ambiental contribuem para tornar a nossa compreensão do mundo cada vez mais difícil. Além disso, a história provou que a tecnociência, sozinha, não é suficiente para lidar com estes problemas. Um apelo global está agora a despertar para que as humanidades e as ciências sociais também lidem com as questões humanas e não humanas levantadas pelas AC, nomeadamente através da sua integração com as áreas da saúde e da sustentabilidade. Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar e discutir alguns dos primeiros resultados da rede transdisciplinar Compor Mundos: Humanidades, Bem-Estar e Saúde, que consiste numa rede de especialistas em humanidades, ciências sociais e da saúde que pensam sobre as questões do bem-estar e da saúde nas sociedades tecnológicas contemporâneas. A metodologia usada na primeira fase do projeto consistiu numa entrevista com perguntas abertas, construída de forma participativa pela rede de 12 investigadores. Tratou-se de uma pesquisa exploratória que utilizou a análise temática para identificar as ideias-chave originais de cada autor e a indução dos temas principais correspondentes. Os temas foram então organizados em grupos de correspondência semântica, ou clusters temáticos. Espera-se que alguns destes clusters contribuam para discutir como as AC já alteraram as nossas maneiras de ser, viver e pensar sobre o mundo, e contribuam também para lidar com os desafios relacionados com os riscos das AC na saúde e no bem-estar ao longo do século XXI.

RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar o foco do olhar do pediatra durante a punção do calcanhar de neonatos. Métodos: Estudo prospectivo no qual pediatras, utilizando óculos de rastreamento visual, avaliaram a dor neonatal antes/depois de uma punção de calcanhar. Os pediatras pontuaram a dor de acordo com a sua percepção por meio de uma escala analógica verbal (0=sem dor; 10=dor máxima). Os desfechos analisados foram o número e o tempo das fixações visuais na face superior, face inferior e mãos, em dois períodos de 10 segundos, antes (PRÉ) e depois da punção (PÓS). Os resultados foram comparados entre os períodos e segundo a percepção da dor do pediatra: ausente/leve (escore: 0–5) e moderada/grave (escore: 6–10). Resultados: Vinte e quatro pediatras (31 anos, 92% sexo feminino) avaliaram 24 neonatos. A mediana do escore atribuído à dor do recém-nascido durante a punção do calcanhar foi 7,0 (intervalo interquartil: 5–8). Comparado ao período PRÉ, no período PÓS, o maior número de pediatras fixou o olhar na face inferior (63 vs. 92%; p=0,036) e o número de fixações visuais foi maior na face inferior (2,0 vs. 5,0; p=0,018). ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the focus of pediatricians’ gaze during the heel prick of neonates. Methods: Prospective study in which pediatricians wearing eye tracker glasses evaluated neonatal pain before/after a heel prtick. Pediatricians scored the pain they perceived in the neonate in a verbal analogue numerical scale (0=no pain; 10=maximum pain). The outcomes measured were number and time of visual fixations in upper face, lower face, and hands, in two 10-second periods, before (pre) and after the puncture (post). These outcomes were compared between the periods, and according to pediatricians’ pain perception: absent/mild (score: 0–5) and moderate/intense (score: 6–10). Results: 24 pediatricians (31 years old, 92% female) evaluated 24 neonates. The median score attributed to neonatal pain during the heel prick was 7.0 (Interquartile range: 5–8). RESUMO Objetivo Desenvolver guia para elaboração de relatórios fonoaudiológicos de crianças implantadas para serem compartilhados entre fonoaudiólogos dos serviços de implante coclear (IC) e reabilitadores. Método O método Delphi foi utilizado para selecionar os itens relevantes e fundamentais que deveriam constar nas duas versões propostas para compor o guia: Guia 1 - Relatórios fonoaudiológicos fornecidos pelo serviço de IC aos reabilitadores, e Guia 2 - Relatórios fonoaudiológicos fornecidos pelos reabilitadores aos serviços de IC. Vinte e um fonoaudiólogos especialistas e com experiência na área de implante coclear e de reabilitação auditiva participaram da discussão e do julgamento dos itens durante as rodadas de seleção. Considerou-se consenso quando o item obteve a concordância igual ou superior a 80% entre os participantes, sendo selecionados para comporem os dois guias. Resultados Após as duas rodadas, 21 itens do Guia 1 obtiveram consenso entre os terapeutas, ou seja, mais de 80% deles concordaram que estes itens deveriam estar presentes no relatório enviado pelo serviço de IC. Para o Guia 2, 22 itens analisados pelos fonoaudiólogos atuantes em serviços de IC setor pós-operatório, foram selecionados na segunda rodada. ABSTRACT Purpose To develop a guide for the preparation of speech-language reports of implanted children to be shared among speech-language pathologists of cochlear implant (CI) services and rehabilitation professionals. Methods The Delphi method was used to select the relevant and fundamental items that should be included in the two versions proposed for the guide: Guide 1 - Speech-language reports provided by the CI services to rehabilitators, and Guide 2 - Speech-language reports provided by the rehabilitators to CI services. Twenty-one speech therapists specialized and with experience in cochlear implants and auditory rehabilitation participated in the discussion and judgment of the items during the selection rounds. Consensus was considered when the item reached agreement equal to or greater than 80% among participants, being selected to compose the two guides. Results After the two rounds, 21 items from Guide 1 reached consensus among therapists, that is, more than 80% of them agreed that these items should be present in the report sent by the CI service. For Guide 2, 22 items analyzed by speech therapists working in CI services in the postoperative sector were selected in the second round. Conclusion Based on the analysis of the two rounds, the “Guide for the preparation of speech-language pathology reports: intersection between CI service and rehabilitators” was developed. RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar a influência de fatores maternos e perinatais na composição nutricional do leite humano. Métodos: Estudo transversal, realizado entre novembro de 2018 e janeiro de 2020, com 181 doadoras selecionadas em Unidades Terciárias de Saúde do Sistema Único de Saúde de um Posto de Coleta e cinco Bancos de Leite Humano. Foram coletados dados das variáveis maternas e dos recém-nascidos por meio de questionário padronizado. Estar apta para ser doadora em um Banco de Leite Humano e produzir leite maduro foram os critérios de elegibilidade para participar do estudo. As amostras de leite com acidez Dornic acima de 8° D foram excluídas. Os macronutrientes do leite humano, variáveis dependentes (carboidratos, proteínas, lipídeos, energia total) foram analisados pela técnica de espectroscopia de transmissão no infravermelho médio com o Miris Human Milk Analyzer™. Os fatores maternos e perinatais foram as variáveis independentes. Resultados: Mulheres com obesidade pré-gestacional e ganho de peso gestacional acima do recomendado apresentaram menor concentração proteica em relação às eutróficas (mediana=0,8, intervalo interquartil [IQR]: 0,7–0,9 vs. mediana=0,8, IQR: 0,8–1,0) e aquelas com ganho de peso gestacional adequado (mediana=0,8, IQR: 0,7–0,9 vs. mediana=0,9, IQR: 0,8–1,0), respectivamente. ABSTRACT Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of maternal and perinatal factors on the nutritional composition of human milk. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between November 2018 and January 2020, with 181 donors selected in Tertiary Health Units of the Unified Health System — from one collection station and five Human Milk Banks. Data were collected through a standardized questionnaire. To be fit to be a donor in a Human Milk Banks and produce mature milk were the eligibility criteria to participate in the study. We excluded milk samples with Dornic acidity above 8° D. The dependent variables were the macronutrients of human milk (i.e., carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and total energy), that were analyzed using spectroscopy with the Miris Human Milk Analyzer™. The maternal and perinatal factors were the independent variables. Results: Women with pre-gestational obesity and gestational weight gain above the recommendation showed a lower protein concentration compared to eutrophic women (median=0.8, interquartile range (IQR): 0.7–0.9 vs. median=0.8, and IQR: 0.8–1.0) and those with adequate gestational weight gain (median=0.8, IQR: 0.7–0.9 vs. median=0.9, and IQR: 0.8–1.0), respectively. The other analyzed factors (i.e., maternal habits, comorbidities, and perinatal factors) were not associated with the nutritional composition of human milk. Conclusions: The assessment of factors associated with the nutritional composition of human milk is extremely important to assist postpartum care. RESUMO Objetivo Analisar a hiperbilirrubinemia como indicador para a realização do protocolo de risco na triagem auditiva neonatal (TAN) e no monitoramento auditivo em neonatos a termo e prematuros. Método Trata-se de um estudo observacional, transversal e retrospectivo. Foram incluídas 554 crianças nascidas em uma maternidade pública, subdivididas em dois grupos: (G1) com 373 recém-nascidos a termo; (G2) com 181 neonatos prematuros. Os dados foram coletados nos prontuários dos participantes, a fim de se obter informações referentes ao resultado da TAN realizada por meio do registro do Potencial Evocado Auditivo de Tronco Encefálico, às condições de nascimento, características clínicas, intervenções realizadas, resultados do primeiro exame de bilirrubina total (BT) e bilirrubina indireta (BI) e do pico de BT e BI. Realizou-se análise estatística descritiva e inferencial dos dados, com adoção do nível de significância de 5%. Resultados No teste da TAN, foram observadas taxas de encaminhamento para reteste inferiores no G1 em relação ao G2. Não houve diferença entre os grupos quanto à ocorrência do tipo de parto, sexo, presença de incompatibilidade sanguínea Rh e ABO, deficiência de enzima G6PD e realização de fototerapia. ABSTRACT Purpose To analyze hyperbilirubinemia as an indicator for the definition of risk protocol in newborn hearing screening (NHS) and in auditory monitoring in full-term and preterm neonates. Methods This is an observational, cross-sectional and retrospective study. A total of 554 children born in a public maternity hospital were included and divided into two groups: (G1) with 373 full-terms neonates; (G2) with 181 preterm neonates. Data were collected from the participant’s medical records to obtain information regarding the result of the NHS, performed by recording the automated auditory brainstem response (AABR), birth conditions, clinical characteristics, interventions performed, and results of the first test of total bilirubin (TB) and indirect bilirubin (IB) as well as the peak of TB and IB. A descriptive statistical analysis of the results was performed, and the level of significance adopted was 5%. Results On the NHS test, quotes of retest referral rates were smaller in G1 when compared to G2. There was no significant difference between the groups regarding type of delivery, gender, presence of Rh and ABO incompatibility, G6PD enzyme deficiency, and performance of phototherapy. TB and IB levels at the first exam and at peak time did not differ between neonates with “pass” and “fail” results on the NHS test in both groups. Resumo Este estudo objetivou analisar o tempo de uso de telas por crianças e adolescentes nos contextos domiciliar e hospitalar sob a percepção de seus cuidadores. Foi realizada pesquisa exploratória e transversal com abordagem quantitativa em um hospital público e universitário de uma capital brasileira. Para coleta de dados, foram aplicados dois questionários aos cuidadores: com questões socioeconômicas e da internação e questões sobre o tempo de uso de telas em casa e no hospital e a percepção deles a esse respeito. Foi utilizada estatística descritiva e inferencial para análise de dados. Participaram do estudo 40 cuidadores de crianças e adolescentes hospitalizados, a maioria do sexo feminino (90%, n=36). Quanto à caracterização das crianças e adolescentes, a maioria era do sexo masculino (55%, n=22), com idade entre 8 meses e 17 anos. Sobre o motivo das internações, identificou-se que 40% (n=16) delas foram ocasionadas por doenças da pele e tecido subcutâneo, e o tempo de internação variou de 1 a 37 dias, com média de 11 dias. Os resultados obtidos indicaram tempo de uso de telas superior ao recomendado, embora não tenha sido constatada diferença significativa entre o tempo de uso em casa e no hospital, entre os dias da semana e/ou entre os tipos de tela. Abstract This study aimed to analyze screen time usage among children and adolescents in both home and hospital settings from their caregivers’ perception. An exploratory and cross-sectional research with a quantitative approach was conducted at a public university hospital in a Brazilian capital. Data collection involved administering two questionnaires to caregivers: one on socioeconomic and hospitalization factors, and another on screen time usage at home and in the hospital and their perceptions thereof. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analysis. The study included 40 caregivers of hospitalized children and adolescents, the majority of whom were female (90%, n=36). Regarding the children and adolescents’ characteristics, the majority were male (55%, n=22), aged between 8 months and 17 years. As for the reasons for hospitalization, it was identified that 40% (n=16) were due to diseases of the skin and subcutaneous tissue, and the length of hospital stay ranged from 1 to 37 days, with an average of 11 days. ABSTRACT Hemangiomas are benign congenital vascular tumors that commonly arise in the head and neck regions. Although they present with indolent growth and involution in most cases, they can cause facial deformities. Hemangiomas have three subtypes: capillary, cavernous, and mixed. The cavernous type is most commonly observed on the lateral wall of the nose or the inferior turbinate. This report describes a case of cavernous hemangioma diagnosed in a rare location in the left retromaxillary masticatory space in a 67-year-old woman. In this study, we evaluated the activity of curcumin and three of its synthetic analogues (DMAD, DMAM, and RI75) on the viability and differentiation of a pre-osteoblastic cell line (MC3T3-E1). We also assessed the expression of key genes involved in tissue regeneration: vascular endothelial growth factor (vegf), stromal-derived growth factor 1 (SDF-1/CXCL12), and runt-related transcription factor 2 (runx2). The cells were treated with curcumin and the three analogues at concentrations of 10, 30, or 50 μM. All tested analogues and curcumin exhibited moderate to no cell toxicity compared to the cells treated under standard conditions across all concentrations after 24, 48, and 72 hours. Only the RI75 analogue showed upregulation of SDF-1, a crucial factor in tissue regeneration. Compared to curcumin, the DMAM and RI75 analogues also upregulated runx2 and vegf, both associated with osteodifferentiation. The RI75 analogue demonstrated greater mineralization than curcumin, and both promoted more nodule formation than the untreated control. Our data suggest that the curcumin analogue RI75 at 50 μM presents similar toxicity but enhanced biological activity compared to natural curcumin, making it a promising substance for material biomodifications. Resumo Introdução A adolescência constitui-se como um período fértil para o desenvolvimento de ações de promoção da saúde. Reflexões sobre como os adolescentes se envolvem em ocupações cotidianas e como estas se relacionam com a percepção de saúde fornecem subsídios importantes para o desenvolvimento de ações de educação em saúde. Objetivo Compreender as inter-relações entre o envolvimento ocupacional e a percepção de saúde na perspectiva de adolescentes. Método Estudo qualitativo alicerçado na investigação temática de Paulo Freire. A pesquisa foi realizada em escola pública municipal, com 33 adolescentes de 13 a 16 anos, em quatro etapas: aproximação com o campo, leitura da realidade, seminários de codificações e problematização. Os dados foram coletados através de grupo focal e observação participante e submetidos à análise de conteúdo temática. Resultados O envolvimento ocupacional se inter-relaciona de diferentes formas com a percepção de saúde no cotidiano. Entre as diversas ocupações, a fragilidade das vivências familiares se destaca por suas conexões com a percepção de sofrimento mental. O envolvimento em ocupações como uso do celular, dormir, atividades escolares, cuidados domésticos, lazer, amizades e atividades físicas também foi discutido. Objective To understand the interrelationships between occupational involvement and health perception from the perspective of adolescents. Method Qualitative study based on Paulo Freire’s thematic investigation. The research was conducted in a municipal public school, with 33 adolescents aged 13 to 16 years, in four stages: familiarization with the field, reality reading, coding seminars, and problematization. Data were collected through focus groups and participant observation and subjected to thematic content analysis. Abstract Introduction Treatment-free remission (TFR) is successful in half of the patients with chronic myeloid leukemia who discontinue Imatinib (IM) after sustained molecular response. Methods In a prospective trial, we used pioglitazone for 3 months before stopping IM in 30 patients. Percentages of peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets were assessed before and after treatment. The relation of these data with duration of IM treatment and TRF were examined. Results The median time of IM treatment was 117.6 months. After discontinuation, 11 patients had molecular recurrence after 5.2 months (2.4 - 30). The observation time for those remaining in TFR was 46 (26 - 56) months. The independent factors for the maintenance of TFR were the duration of IM treatment and the percentage of double-positive T cells at IM stop. Conclusion A longer treatment with imatinib was associated with a longer TFR after discontinuation. Pioglitazone could act as an immunomodulator, increasing DP T cells which may contribute to prevent relapse. ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate, characterize and search for trends in the underreporting of diabetes mellitus (DM) as the cause of death in Bauru, São Paulo, Brazil, over 40 years. Subjects and methods This was a documental study. Clinical and mortality data were collected from individuals known to have type 1 (DM1) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2), residing in Bauru, State of São Paulo, followed at a local endocrinology clinic from 1982 to 2021, who deceased during this period. Results A significant underreporting of DM as the cause of death (64.41%) was found, mostly associated with male gender (OR = 1.59 [95% CI: 1.18; 2.15]; p < 0.01), DM2 (OR = 2.64 [95% CI: 1.32; 5.26]; p < 0.01), dying in the first decade of the study (OR = 4.07 [95% CI: 1.54; 10.71]; p < 0.001) and shorter DM duration (OR = 1.02 [95% CI: 1.01; 1.04]; p < 0.01). Age, type of treatment, body mass index, marital status and ethnicity, did not show a significant association with DM underreporting. There was a decreasing trend in DM1 underreporting (Decade Percentual Change = -7.10 [95% CI: -11.35; -3.40]), but a stationary trend for DM and DM2. The main primary cause of death was cardiovascular-related complications. Conclusion The underreporting of DM as the cause of death was very frequently found, and was associated with male gender, decade of death, shorter DM duration and DM2. If our data could be applied to the whole country, DM would possibly emerge as a more prominent cause of death in Brazil. Resumo Estresses abióticos, como a salinidade, interferem no crescimento e no desenvolvimento das plantas e podem reduzir, retardar ou, até mesmo, inibir a germinação das sementes. O conhecimento sobre a tolerância das plantas ornamentais a estes fatores e a busca por alternativas que amenizem estes efeitos, como o uso ácido salicílico, indicam caminhos para o melhor desenvolvimento das plantas nestes ambientes afetados por estresses. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a germinação de sementes de jacarandá-caroba e aroeira-pimenteira em diferentes concentrações salinas de cloreto de sódio (NaCl), utilizando ácido salicílico como possível atenuador do estresse salino. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado; os tratamentos foram arranjados em esquema fatorial 4 x 2, sendo quatro concentrações salinas (0, 30, 60 e 90 mM de NaCl) combinadas com ausência (imersão em água destilada) ou presença de ácido salicílico (imersão em solução contendo ácido salicílico a 1,0mM). Conclui-se que jacarandá-caroba mostrou tolerância moderada à salinidade promovida por NaCl durante o processo de germinação de sementes. Abstract Abiotic stresses, such as salinity, interfere with the growth and development of plants and can reduce, delay, or even inhibit the germination of the seeds. The knowledge about ornamental plants tolerance to those factors and the search for alternatives that reduce those effects, as is the use of salicylic acid, indicate paths to better development of the plants in environments affected by those stresses. This work aimed to evaluate the germination of Caroba-tree seeds and Brazilian peppertree seeds in different saline concentrations of sodium chloride (NaCl), using salicylic acid, as a possible saline stress attenuator. The experimental design utilized was completely randomized, with treatments arranged in factorial scheme 4 x 2 being four saline concentrations (0, 30, 60, and 90 mM of NaCl) combined with the absence (immersion in distilled water) or presence of salicylic acid (immersion in a solution containing salicylic acid at 1.0 mM). It was concluded that Caroba-tree showed moderate tolerance to salinity promoted by NaCl during seed germination. The average germination percentage was 83.91%. However, the seeds germinated at slower paces with the increasing saline solutions. Resumo A pandemia de CoVID-19 agravou muitas problemáticas não suficientemente enfrentadas pelas políticas públicas sociais do Brasil. A evasão escolar é uma delas e afeta desproporcionalmente jovens das classes populares, em especial aqueles que são pobres, negros e periféricos, demandando corresponsabilidade de diferentes setores e atores sociais. A experiência da pesquisa/intervenção da qual decorre este texto voltou-se para as matrizes explicativas que incidiram e permanecem incidindo na ocorrência da evasão e/ou desistência escolar, além da compreensão e busca da superação dos motivos impeditivos do retorno ou da permanência do jovem à/na escola. Uma equipe interinstitucional formada por pesquisadores vinculados à Rede Metuia – Terapia Ocupacional Social, composta também por jovens universitários e jovens estudantes do Ensino Médio, vem desenvolvendo esta pesquisa/intervenção nas cidades de São Carlos e Santos (SP), João Pessoa (PB), Petrolina (PE), Brasília/Ceilândia (DF) e Simão Dias (SE). Abstract The CoVID-19 pandemic exacerbated many issues insufficiently addressed by Brazil’s social public policies. School dropout is one such issue, disproportionately affecting young people from working-class backgrounds, especially those who are the poor, Black, and peripheral populations, requiring the shared responsibility of various sectors and social actors. The research/intervention experience focused on the explanatory frameworks contributing to the occurrence and persistence of school dropout and/or withdrawal, as well as understanding and seeking to overcome the obstacles preventing young people from returning to or staying in school. An interinstitutional team, comprising researchers affiliated with the Metuia Network – Social Occupational Therapy, along with young university and high-school students, has been conducting this research/intervention in the cities of São Carlos and Santos (SP), João Pessoa (PB), Petrolina (PE), Brasília/Ceilândia (DF), and Simão Dias (SE). Based on participatory action research and social occupational therapy, young university students and young researchers in their schools and/or communities have been individually and territorially following up other young people who are out of school. RESUMO Objetivo: analisar dados sociodemográficos e clínicos de pacientes com estomias temporárias, submetidos à reconstrução de trânsito intestinal. Método: trata-se de um estudo transversal a partir dos prontuários de todos os pacientes de um hospital terciário, em Teresina-Piauí, entre setembro de 2021 e junho de 2023. Os dados foram tabulados no Microsoft Excel e analisados no programa IBM SPSS (versão 20.0), utilizando frequências absolutas (n) e relativas (%), média, desvio padrão, teste Shapiro-Wilk, teste U de Mann-Whitney, teste qui-quadrado e correlação de Spearman. O nível de significância adotado foi de 5%. Resultados: dentre os 90 pacientes analisados, predominaram homens (71,1%), negros (84,4%), solteiros (54,4%) e sem ensino médio completo (54,4%). A média de idade foi de 45,7 anos. As estomias mais prevalentes foram colostomia em alça (27,8%) e Hartmann (24,4%), que, majoritariamente, estavam nos quadrantes direito inferior (48,9%) e esquerdo inferior (44,4%) do abdômen e tinham como motivações apendicite (17,8%), perfuração por arma de fogo (14,4%) e câncer colorretal (12,2%). A maioria não tinha comorbidades (58,9%) e não apresentou complicações pós-operatórias (74,4%). Dentre os 23 (25,6%) com complicações, sete (7,8%) tiveram cirurgia reconfeccionada e oito (8,9%) necessitaram de terapia intensiva, havendo dois (2,2%) óbitos. ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the sociodemographic and clinical data of patients with temporary stomas who underwent intestinal transit reconstruction. Method: this is a cross-sectional study based on the medical records of all patients at a tertiary hospital in Teresina-Piauí, between September/2021 and June/2023. The data was tabulated in Microsoft Excel and analyzed in IBM SPSS (version 20.0), using absolute (n) and relative (%) frequencies, mean, standard deviation, Shapiro-Wilk test, Mann-Whitney U test, chi-square test and Spearman's correlation. The significance level adopted was 5%. Results: among the 90 patients analyzed, the majority were men (71.1%), black (84.4%), single (54.4%) and without a high school education (54.4%). The mean age was 45.7 years. The most prevalent stomas were loop colostomies (27.8%) and Hartmann stomas (24.4%), most of which were in the lower right (48.9%) and lower left (44.4%) quadrants of the abdomen and were caused by appendicitis (17.8%), firearm perforation (14.4%) and colorectal cancer (12.2%). The majority had no comorbidities (58.9%) and no post-operative complications (74.4%). Among the 23 (25.6%) with complications, seven (7.8%) had their surgery redone and eight (8.9%) required intensive care, with two (2.2%) deaths. Post-surgical complications were associated with a longer post-operative stay (p<0.001). Conclusion: there was a predominance of black men, with no high school education and a mean age of 45.7 years old. The most frequent stomas were of the loop colostomy and Hartmann's type. RESUMEN Objetivo: analizar datos sociodemográficos y clínicos de pacientes con ostomías temporales sometidos a reonstrucción del tránsito intestinal. Método: estudio transversal, basado en las historias clínicas de todos los pacientes de un hospital de tercer nivel, en Teresina-Piauí, entre septiembre de 2021 y junio de 2023. Los datos fueron tabulados en Microsoft Excel y analizados en el programa IBM SPSS (versión 20.0), utilizando frecuencias absolutas (n) y relativas (%), media, desviación estándar, prueba de Shapiro-Wilk, prueba U de Mann-Whitney, chi-cuadrado y Correlación de Spearman. El nivel de significancia adoptado fue del 5%. Resultados: entre los 90 pacientes analizados predominaron los hombres (71,1%), negros (84,4%), solteros (54,4%) y sin educación secundaria completa (54,4%). La edad promedio fue de 45,7 años. Las ostomías más prevalentes fueron colostomía en asa (27,8%) y Hartmann (24,4%), que se realizaron principalmente en los cuadrantes inferior derecho (48,9%) e inferior izquierdo (44,4%) del abdomen y los motivos fueron apendicitis (17,8%), herida de bala (14,4%) y cáncer colorrectal (12,2%). La mayoría no presentó comorbilidades (58,9%) ni complicaciones postoperatorias (74,4%). Entre los 23 (25,6%) que tuvieron complicaciones, siete (7,8%) tuvieron cirugía reconstruida y ocho (8,9%) requirieron cuidados intensivos, con dos (2,2%) muertes. Las complicaciones posquirúrgicas se asociaron con estancias postoperatorias más prolongadas (p<0,001). Conclusión: predominaron los hombres de raza negra, sin educación secundaria completa y con una edad promedio de 45,7 años. Las ostomías más frecuentes fueron la colostomía en asa y tipo Hartmann. Los principales motivos fueron apendicitis, cáncer colorrectal y heridas de bala. Las complicaciones posquirúrgicas se asociaron significativamente con estancias posoperatorias más prolongadas.
