RESUMO Este artigo tem como objetivo estudar a representação de quatro candidatos (dois homens e duas mulheres) nas últimas eleições presidenciais brasileiras em um corpus de comentários publicados online. Os comentários foram postados como parte da recepção de uma série de entrevistas veiculadas e transmitidas pelo canal oficial do YouTube por um programa de entrevistas entre aqueles com a melhor classificação em uma televisão pública brasileira. O referencial teórico é a gramática sistêmico-funcional. O software de raspagem de dados on-line coletou dados anonimamente. Todos os comentários foram processados usando o software para gerenciamento de corpora, e os resultados quantitativos foram plotados utilizando aplicativos específicos. Os resultados mostram que todos candidatos tendem a ser julgados por suas opções políticas (direita ou esquerda) e origem (região). Todavia as mulheres também são julgadas por sua aparência física, sendo submetidas a comentários sexistas e sexualizados.

ABSTRACT This article aims at studying the representation of four candidates (two male and two female) in the last Brazilian Presidential elections in a corpus of comments posted online. The comments were posted as part of the reception of a series of interviews aired and broadcasted through official YouTube Channel by a top-rated talk show in a Brazilian Public Television. The theoretical framework lays on Systemic-Functional Grammar. Online Data scraping software collected data anonymously. All comments were processed using software for corpora management, and quantitative results were plotted using Gephi. The results show that male candidates tend to be judged by their political options and social-political origin. They represent political saviours or possible political menaces. Likewise, women are judged for their political and ideological affiliations. However, their physical appearance is continuously evaluated as they are subjected to sexist and sexualised comments.

Abstract Given the recognition of the Open Education Resources (OER) movement in the global scenario, this paper provides an overview of the OER implementation efforts, based on two documents: OER Global Report 2017 and Ljubljana OER Action Plan 2017. The first analyses the OER progress from 2012 to 2017. The second presents recommended actions and strategies to harness the potential of open-licensed resources. We argue that these documents helped to compose the actions and strategies for the 2019 UNESCO OER Recommendation, which, in turn, motivated UNESCO and partnerships to produce an OER Guide under the Pandemic COVID-19 in 2020. Aligned with the OER experiences brought by the Guide, we underscore the importance of openly creating and sharing teaching and learning materials to support educational practices during Covid-19.

RESUMO Este artigo busca compreender o momento atual, dando um passo atrás, para mostrar que em uma situação anterior à campanha eleitoral de 2018, já havia indícios do populismo digital (CESARINO, 2018): o aparato digital e a mobilização (produção e compartilhamentos de hashtags no Twitter), bem como a tática política de estabelecer um eixo sintagmático amigo-inimigo. Mais especificamente, o intuito aqui é analisar discussões políticas, dentro do quadro linchamento virtual (MACEDO, 2018), de duas maneiras: (i) por suas conexões, utilizando modelos de redes aplicados às redes sociais online, conforme descritos nos trabalhos de Recuero (2005, 2014) e Lima-Lopes (2017, 2018) e; (ii) pelo discurso contido nas postagens, segundo o Sistema de Avaliatividade (MARTIN e WHITE, 2005) e suas aplicações em Língua Portuguesa (VIAN JR et. al, 2010). Foi considerada para esta pesquisa a utilização no Twitter da hashtag #Dia28EuVouTrabalhar, criada e disseminada com o intuito de contrariar a Greve Geral marcada para o dia 28 de abril de 2017, cujo objetivo era protestar contra as reformas trabalhista e da previdência. A raspagem de dados e os grafos de conexão foram feitos com o auxílio dos softwares NodeXL e Gephi, respectivamente. Ao final, observou-se que os principais influenciadores na rede tinham grande importância na disseminação do discurso de ódio, pois o grande número de seguidores possibilitou o espalhamento em larga escala. Vale ressaltar que o nó central da rede estudada era um deputado estadual do Rio de Janeiro e filho de um político com pretensão à presidência da República. A principal avaliação expressa nas postagens, em relação aos sentimentos, foi a insatisfação com o partido político que se manteve na presidência do Brasil por catorze anos e que fora interrompido por um impeachment, no ano anterior a esta greve. Já em relação ao Julgamento, as postagens revelaram uma descrença quanto à ética e confiabilidade tanto em relação aos grevistas quanto aos organizadores. Com isso, pode-se observar que a repetição e padronização de discursos estigmatizados, bem como sua pulverização em mídia social, foram - e ainda são - utilizadas como instrumento para conseguir o apoio popular.

ABSTRACT This article takes a step backwards and tries to understand our current moment by analyzing social media context in a 2017 social hashtag movement. Our data show that prior to the 2018 presidential campaign, there was already evidence of digital populism (CESARINO, 2018). The digital apparatus for mobilization (production and sharing of Twitter hashtags), as well as the political strategy of establishing a friend-enemy syntagmatic axis. More specifically, the aim here is to analyze political discussions, within the framework of virtual lynching (MACEDO, 2018), in two ways: (i) by means of network models applied to online social networks, as described in Recuero’s works (2005, 2014) and Lima-Lopes’ works (2017, 2018) and; (ii) by an analysis of the appraisal discourse (MARTIN and WHITE, 2005) present in some Twitter posts and its applications to Portuguese (VIAN JR et. al, 2010). Our analysis relies on the Twitter hashtag #Dia28EuVouTrabalhar. It was created and disseminated aiming at countering the General Strike scheduled for April 28, 2017, in order to protest against labor and social security reforms. Data scraping and connection graphs were performed with the aid of NodeXL and Gephi software, respectively. As a result, we could observe that the main influencers in the network were of great importance in the dissemination of hate discourse, because the large number of followers allowed such discourse to spread on a large scale. It is worth mentioning that the central node of the studied network was a state deputy from Rio de Janeiro and the son of a politician, who later got elected as the presidency of the Republic. Feelings regarding dissatisfaction were the more common. They were projected towards the political party that was in office in Brazil for fourteen years. Such a party had its last term interrupted by an impeachment in the year previous to this strike. Regarding the Judgment, the posts revealed a disbelief concerning ethics and reliability both in relation to the strikers and the movement organizers. We could observe that the repetition dispersion and standardization of stigmatized discourses were very common tools in the 2017 context. It is also relevant to keep in mind that such strategies still are an important instrument to obtain popular support in social media.

RESUMO O coletivo Ni una menos iniciou sua formação em março de 2015 e tem atuado fortemente junto à sociedade argentina, reivindicando a promoção de políticas públicas (leis, projetos, destino de verbas públicas) que promovam uma maior igualdade de gênero e de preservação do bem-estar das mulheres argentinas. Neste artigo, pretendemos analisar os comentários realizados na página oficial do movimento no Facebook postados dois dias antes e dois dias depois da grande e primeira manifestação do movimento, que aconteceu no dia 3 de junho de 2015. Para tanto, utilizamos a Linguística do Corpus (SINCLAIR, 1991) e a Linguística Sistêmico-Funcional (HALLIDAY, 1991) como método e teoria que nos permitem vislumbrar aspectos linguísticos que denotam posicionamentos ideológicos, sociais e políticos. Nesse sentido, pela análise do corpus coletado, pode-se perceber como se deu a construção das principais bandeiras do coletivo e as escolhas realizadas como um reflexo da ação dos diversos agentes sociais envolvidos e ativos no processo. O espaço aberto para manifestações e ideias no ambiente de mídias sociais de Ni una menos configurou tal coletivo como um lugar para discussão plural sobre políticas sociais da Argentina.

ABSTRACT The collective Ni Una Menos started in March 2015, and since then it has been actively demanding for public policies (laws, projects, public funds) that promote better gender equality and the preservation of the well-being of Argentinian women. In this article, we seek to study the comments posted on the official page of the movement on Facebook. Our investigation will span across comments posted two days before and two afterwards the first rally promoted by Ni Una a Menos on June 3rd, 2015. We use Corpus Linguistics (SINCLAIR, 1991) and Systemic-Functional Linguistics (HALLIDAY, 1991) as the main theoretical and methodological approaches in order to analyse linguistic aspects that express ideological, social and political positions. The results show how different political positions are represented within the movement and which choices reflect the action of the various active social agents. The open space for the expression of different ideas within the social media environment of Ni Una Menos has established this collective as a place for plural discussion on social policies in Argentina.

RESUMO Este trabalho tem por objetivo discutir as escolhas de transitividade, comparando o conto “Amor”, publicado pela escritora Clarice Lispector no livro “Laços de Família” em português, e sua tradução para o inglês. A análise contou com a utilização do software “UAM CorpusTool”, de caráter quanti/qualitativo que possibilita mapeamento de sistemas linguísticos em uma perspectiva funcional (O’Donnell 2016) e de uma ferramenta online de alinhamento de corpora (YouAlign 2016). Os resultados apontam para algumas diferenças quanto ao uso e frequência de processos, havendo equivalência de escolhas na maioria dos casos. Os exemplos que destoam parecem servir à construção de sistemas textuais específicos, motivados por questões culturais da língua de chegada.

ABSTRACT This paper aims to discuss the transitivity choices, comparing the short story “Love”, published by Clarice Lispector in the book “Family Ties” in Brazilian Portuguese, and its translation into English. The analysis was based on the use of a “quantitative/qualitative software “UAM CorpusTool”, which allows the mapping of linguistic systems in a functional perspective (O’Donnell 2016) and an online alignment tool for corpora (YouAlign 2016). The results show some variation in the processes, with equivalence of choices in most cases. The examples that seem to be out of tune serve to construct specific textual systems, motivated by cultural aspects of the target language.

RESUMO Este artigo discute metáforas multimodais em um corpus de vídeos publicitários. O objetivo é discutir como essas metáforas constroem o discurso de sedução do espectador por meio da facilitação e explicação de conteúdos da área técnica de informática. Essas metáforas constituem-se por um complexo sistema: além do verbal, há diversos outros modos: como gestos, vestimenta, olhar e posição no quadro; todos encapsulados na imagem do vídeo. Resultados parecem indicar que tais metáforas servem para caracterizar produtos de uma determinada marca de computadores como superior em qualidade e facilidade de operação.

ABSTRACT This article discusses multimodal metaphors in a corpus of video advertisements. It aims at discussing how these metaphors create a discourse of seduction by making computer technical issues easier to end-user. These metaphors constitute a complex system: in addition to verbal, there are several other language modes such as gestures, dressing, gaze and position; all encapsulated in the video image. Results seem to indicate that such metaphors characterise products of a particular brand of computers as superior in quality and ease of operation.

Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar as escolhas de transitividade em 21 boletins eletrônicos do Greenpeace escritos em Português do Brasil. O referencial teórico está na Gramática Sistêmico-Funcional (HALLIDAY, 1994; HALLIDAY & MATTHIESSEN, 1999; HALLIDAY & MATTHIESSEN, 2004). A Linguística de Corpus foi utilizada como ferramenta metodológica principal, o que inclui um concordanciador e um sistema de etiquetagem. Como os resultados mostraram, estes textos desenham uma representação textual em que cada uma das entidades representadas possui um papel específico. Afiliados ao Greenpeace, por exemplo, são geralmente retratados como defensores da causa do verde, ao passo que empresas são comumente classificadas como vilões que não se importam com o meio ambiente. Cada uma dessas representações é acompanhada por um padrão gramatical.

This article aims to analyse transitivity choices in 21 Greenpeace electronic bulletins written in Brazilian Portuguese. The theoretical framework is based on Systemic-Functional Grammar (HALLIDAY, 1994; HALLIDAY & MATTHIESSEN, 1999, 2004). Corpus Linguistics was the main methodological tool, in which concordancers and a tag system were applied. As results indicated, these texts draw a textual representation in which each of the text entities plays a specific role. People affiliated with Greenpeace, for example, are commonly portrayed as advocates of green causes, while companies are commonly represented as villains who care nothing about the environment. Each of these representations is accompanied by specific grammatical patterns.

Este artigo analisa a instanciação de processos relacionais em um corpus de 104 cartas de mala direta, de forma a observar como os participantes da interação (empresa remetente, produto e destinatário) são caracterizados. A metodologia utilizada contou com um sistema de etiquetagem, com ferramentas computacionais de análise (Manson, 1999; Scott, 1999) e com a comparação entre o corpus de pesquisa e uma fração do Banco de dados de Português, mantido pelo LAEL - PUC-SP. Resultados mostram um conjunto de funções específico para cada participante.

This paper aims at analysing the instantiation of relational processes in a corpus of 104 direct sales letters, in order to study which are the roles ascribed to each interactant (the company, the addressee and the product). Corpus Linguistics was the main methodological tool: two softwares for lexical analysis (Manson, 1999; Scott, 1999) were used and a tagging system was developed. The outcomes were compared with part of the Bank of Brazilian Portuguese, maintained by LAEL - PUC-SP. Results show a set of functions that seems to be specific to each interactant.

Partindo do conceito de gênero (Swales, 1990, 1991, 1992; Halliday e Hasan, 1989), e de algumas pesquisas sobre cartas comerciais (Santos, 1996; Cheung, 1993, e Bhatia, 1993a, b), discuto a estrutura retórica de 104 cartas de venda de produtos e de serviços (malas diretas) e a questão da obrigatoriedade dos movimentos. A estrutura retórica resultante é composta por 6 movimentos, sendo 4 obrigatórios (estabelecimento de relações, oferta, demanda de ações e finalização) e 2 opcionais (credenciais da empresa e documentos anexos). Esses movimentos e passos foram ainda observados quanto à freqüência, mostrando que alguns dos considerados obrigatórios não ocorrem em todas as cartas, o que levou à discussão do conceito de obrigatoriedade, bem como dos critérios para essa classificação. Isso motivou a introdução de alguns conceitos como é o caso da essencialidade versus não-essencialidade, utilizado para determinar quais movimentos são imprescindíveis para a realização do gênero, e da hierarquia, usado para avaliar a importância de um passo para a realização de um movimento.

In this paper I discuss the rhetorical structure of 104 direct sales letters based on the notion of genre (Swales, 1990, 1991, 1992; Halliday e Hasan, 1989) and on some studies on business letters (Santos, 1996; Cheung, 1993, e Bhatia, 1993a, b). The rhetorical structure is constituted by six moves: four obligatory (stablishing contact, offer, demanding actions and closing) and two optional (companies' credentials and enclosing documents). This moves had their frequencies observed, so I could find that not all obligatory moves happened to be present in all instances of the corpus, what brought about some discussions on the criteria we use to perform such classification. As a result, I propose two concepts: 1st essentiality vs non- essentiality which help to spot which movements are essential to the instantiation of the genre; and 2nd hierarchy, which is a means to evaluate how important a given step is to the instantiation of a move.
