Objectives: To describe the most prevalent disorders in 1753 patients referred to home rehabilitation and home physiotherapy units. Method: We carried out a cross-sectional descriptive study. The variables analyzed were age, gender, main diagnosis, functional capacity (Barthel Index), physiotherapeutic objectives, the treatment applied and the number of sessions. Results: The main diagnoses were immobilization effects (29%), hip fracture (16.5%), stroke (13.7%), knee replacement (11.9%), hip replacement (4.7%), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (2.6%), and Alzheimer's disease (2.4%). The lowest Barthel Index was obtained in Alzheimer's disease, stroke and immobilization effects and the highest in patients with knee replacement. The process requiring the highest number of sessions for complete recovery was stroke. Conclusions: Significant improvements were confirmed in pre- and post- Barthel Index scores for each of the above-mentioned diagnoses, demonstrating greater functional independence among patients.

Objetivos: Describir las patologías de mayor prevalencia en 1753 pacientes derivados a las Unidades Móviles de Rehabilitación y Fisioterapia. Método: Estudio descriptivo transversal. Las variables analizadas fueron la edad, el sexo, el diagnóstico principal, la capacidad funcional (Índice de Barthel), los objetivos fisioterapéuticos, las técnicas de tratamiento y el número de sesiones realizadas. Resultados: Los diagnósticos principales fueron secuelas por inmovilización (29%), fracturas de cadera (16,5%), accidente vascular cerebral (13,7%), prótesis de rodilla (11,9%) y cadera (4,7%), enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica (2,6%) y enfermedad de Alzheimer (2,4%). Los Índices de Barthel iniciales más bajos se obtuvieron en Alzheimer, accidente vascular cerebral y secuelas por inmovilización; el más alto se obtuvo en los pacientes intervenidos de prótesis de rodilla. El proceso que necesitó mayor número de sesiones para su recuperación fue el accidente vascular cerebral. Conclusiones: Se confirman ganancias positivas entre el Índice de Barthel inicial y el final tras el tratamiento rehabilitador para cada proceso descrito, con una mayor independencia funcional del paciente.

In those circumstances in which a person is coming at the end of his life, the target of the physiotherapist is of skeletal and nervous muscle delays the physical deterioration of the functions of the system and on the other hand, across the exercise, to transmit a desire of life and healing in the patient, who will contribute a better frame of mind and well-being. We have carried out a program of physical therapy with terminal patients in the Residencia Comarcal de Personas Mayores, Vélez-Rubio (Almería), obtaining big benefits both from the physical point of view and from the psycho-logical one and hence emphasizing the importance of this professional, who accompanies the patient at the end of his life on a caress.

En aquellas circunstancias en las que una persona está llegando al final de su vida, el objetivo del fisioterapeuta es, por un lado, retrasar el deterioro físico de las funciones delsistema músculo-esquelético y nervioso y, por otro, a través del ejercicio, transmitir un deseo de vida y curación en el paciente, que le aportará un mejor estado de ánimo y bienestar. Se ha llevado a cabo un programa de fisioterapia con pacientes terminales en la Residencia Comarcal de Personas Mayores de Vélez-Rubio (Almería), obteniendo grandes beneficios, tanto desde el punto de vista físico como desde el psicológico. De ahí el deseo de destacar la importancia de este profesional que acompaña al enfermo al final de su vida con una caricia.

The collaboration between several public institutions as the town hall of Vélez-Rubio, the Junta de Andalucía, Aprovélez and the Residencia Comarcal de Personas Mayores has developed a project in the municipality of Vélez- Rubio (Almería) so called "Park for major persons " or "Geriatric park ". This one consists of a set of devices that develop such an important branch of the Physical therapy as it is the mecanotherapy. Across explanatory panels, the elders understand the functioning and the targets of the same one. This way, the physical therapy as way makes come to the elders to support or to improve his physical state, as well as to make aware the population that carries out a routine of exercise.

La colaboración entre varias instituciones públicas como el ayuntamiento de Vélez-Rubio, la Junta de Andalucía, Aprovélez y la Residencia Comarcal de Personas Mayores ha dado lugar al desarrollo de un proyecto en el municipio de Vélez-Rubio (Almería) denominado "Parque para personas mayores" o "Parque geriátrico". Éste consta de un conjunto de aparatos que desarrollan una rama tan importante de la fisioterapia como es la mecanoterapia. A través de paneles explicativos, la persona mayor comprende el funcionamiento y los objetivos del mismo. Así, se hace llegar a los ancianos la fisioterapia como medio para mantener o mejorar su estado físico, así como para concienciar a la población de que lleve a cabo una rutina de ejercicio.
