RESUMO Este estudo apresenta uma nova espécie de orquídea do gênero Catasetum, do grupo de espécies cujas antenas são simétricas e paralelas. Foi encontrada em florestas de terra-firme e igapó nos estados do Amazonas e Pará, Brasil. Fornecemos uma descrição formal da nova espécie, imagens e comentários referentes à distribuição, habitat, fenologia, visitantes florais e estatus de conservação. A comparamos com C. cristatum e C. barbatum, que ocorrem em simpatria e são morfologicamente mais semelhantes à nova espécie. Ela foi preliminarmente classificada na categoria Em Perigo (EN) segundo os critérios da UICN, com base na extensão de ocorrência, área de ocupação, número de localidades de ocorrência e os riscos a que as populações conhecidas estão expostas (desmatamento e coleta predatória). ABSTRACT This study presents a new orchid species of the genus Catasetum belonging to the group of species with symmetrical and parallel antennae. It was found in terra-firme and floodplain forests in the Brazilian states of Amazonas and Pará. We provide a formal description of the new species, images, and notes on distribution, habitat, phenology, flower visitors and preliminary conservation status. We compare it with C. cristatum and C. barbatum, both sympatric and morphologically most similar to the new species. Abstract A new Catasetum species from Brazilian Amazon, more specifically from the “Floresta Nacional de Saracá-Taquera” (State of Pará), is proposed, described and illustrated. This new taxon belongs to the subgenus Catasetum, section Isoceras, subsection Isoceras, characterized by the symmetrical and parallel antennae. It is compared with C. nhamundaense, C. garnettianum and C. barbatum, all with the same antennae characteristics and belonging to the “C. cristatum alliance”. Among related species, C. tavaresii differs mainly in the lip structure. Additionally, we provide data on geographical distribution, habitat, phenology, flower visitors, and preliminary conservation status.

RESUMO É apresentado o primeiro registro de Vanilla labellopapillata para o Estado do Amazonas, Brasil, na região de Manaus, sendo este o limite oeste da espécie, anteriormente só conhecida da localidade tipo no estado do Pará. É apresentada uma breve descrição da espécie e comentários taxonômicos e ecológicos da espécie no contexto da nova localidade.

ABSTRACT The first record of Vanilla labellopapillata is presented for the state of Amazonas, Brazil, in the region of Manaus, now the western limit of the species, which was previously known only from the type locality in the state of Pará. A brief description is provided and taxonomic and ecological aspects of the species are discussed in the light of this new finding.

Resumo Foram realizadas observações a respeito da biologia reprodutiva de uma espécie de Rapateaceae recentemente descrita (Saxofridericia brasiliensis) em uma área de Campina Fechada periodicamente alagada. Durante o período de floração, as inflorescências foram ensacadas com o intuito de identificar se a espécie forma frutos por meio de autopolinização espontânea. A espécie apresenta tricomas na base das pétalas que se coraram com o uso de Vermelho Neutro e possui como principais agentes polinizadores fêmeas de nove espécies de Euglossa, que realizam a coleta de pólen por meio da vibração das anteras. Contudo novos estudos são necessários para entender por completo as estratégias reprodutivas para a família, em virtude de relatos da existência de polinização por beija-flores na tribo Schoenocephalieae dada a presença de nectários.

Abstract The reproductive biology of Saxofridericia brasiliensis species a recently described species, was observed in an area of periodically flooded (“Campina”) in the Amazon region. During the flowering period, inflorescences were bagged to identify if the species could form fruits through spontaneous self-pollination. The flowers presents trichomes at the base of the petals that stained by neutral red. The main pollinators were females of nine species of Euglossa, which collect pollen by vibrating the anthers. However, new studies are needed to fully understand the reproductive strategies in the family, as the pollination by hummingbirds was reported in the tribe Schoenocephalieae, due to the presence of nectaries.

Dichaea é o maior gênero da subtribo Zygopetalinae e possui sua maior diversidade de espécies na América do Sul. Diante disto, este trabalho teve o objetivo de descrever uma nova espécie de Dichaea ocorrente na região norte do Brasil, Dichaea bragae Valsko, Krahl & Holanda. A nova espécie foi coleta ao norte de Manaus em área de floresta ombrófila e floresceu em cultivo. O epíteto é em homenagem ao Dr. Pedro Ivo Soares Braga (in memorian), orquidólogo que realizou vários estudos na Amazônia brasileira. A nova espécie possui afinidade com espécies de Dichaea seção Dichaeopsis, contudo são diferenciadas vegetativamente e na morfologia do labelo.

Dichaea is the largest genus of the subtribe Zygopetalinae and holds it's the highest species diversity in South America. Therefore, this study aims to describe a new species of Dichaea, which occurs in northern Brazil, Dichaea bragae Valsko, Krahl & Holanda. The new species was collected in the north of Manaus in an area of ombrophilous forest and flowered when cultivated. The epithet honors Dr. Pedro Ivo Soares Braga (in memoriam), orchidologist who conducted several studies in the Brazilian Amazon. This new species show a affinity with Dichaea tenuis C. Schweinf., however it is differentiated both vegetatively and on labellum morphology.

O presente trabalho teve como objetivo inventariar e elaborar descrições e ilustrações para as espécies de Orchidaceae encontradas em um fragmento de Floresta Semidecídua localizado no sul do Estado do Espírito Santo, região de poucos estudos, caracterizando uma flora ainda pouco conhecida. Durante o estudo, 25 espécies distribuídas em 21 gêneros, foram registradas. A forma de vida predominante foi a epifítica, caracterizada por 16 espécies, seguida pela rupícola, terrícola e micoheterotrófica. A maior parte das espécies floresceu no período quente e úmido. Além disso, o estudo revelou a presença de uma espécie endêmica e três novas ocorrências para o Estado.

The present study aimed to inventory and elaborate descriptions and illustrations for the species of Orchidaceae found in a forest located in the southern Espírito Santo State, a region of few botanical studies, featuring a poorly known flora. During the study, 25 species were found and distributed into 21 genera. The majority of the species were epiphytic, represented by 16 species, followed by rupiculous, terrestrial, and mycoheterotrofic species. Most species flourished during the hot and humid period. Furthermore, the study revealed the presence of an endemic species and three new records for the State.
