ABSTRACT Purpose: The epithelial–mesenchymal transition of human lens epithelial cells plays a role in posterior capsule opacification, a fibrotic process that leads to a common type of cataract. Hyaluronic acid has been implicated in this fibrosis. Studies have investigated the role of transforming growth factor (TGF)-β2 in epithelial–mesenchymal transition. However, the role of TGF-β2 in hyaluronic acid-mediated fibrosis of lens epithelial cell remains unknown. We here examined the role of TGF-β2 in the hyaluronic acid-mediated epithelial–mesenchymal transition of lens epithelial cells. Methods: Cultured human lens epithelial cells (HLEB3) were infected with CD44-siRNA by using the Lipofectamine 3000 transfection reagent. The CCK-8 kit was used to measure cell viability, and the scratch assay was used to determine cell migration. Cell oxidative stress was analyzed in a dichloro-dihydro-fluorescein diacetate assay and by using a flow cytometer. The TGF-β2 level in HLEB3 cells was examined through immunohistochemical staining. The TGF-β2 protein level was determined through western blotting. mRNA expression levels were determined through quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Results: Treatment with hyaluronic acid (1.0 μM, 24 h) increased the epithelial–mesenchymal transition of HLEB3 cells. The increase in TGF-β2 levels corresponded to an increase in CD44 levels in the culture medium. However, blocking the CD44 function significantly reduced the TGF-β2-mediated epithelial–mesenchymal transition response of HLEB3 cells. Conclusions: Our study showed that both CD44 and TGF-β2 are critical contributors to the hyaluronic acid-mediated epithelial-mesenchymal transition of lens epithelial cells, and that TGF-β2 in epithelial-mesenchymal transition is regulated by CD44. These results suggest that CD44 could be used as a target for preventing hyaluronic acid-induced posterior capsule opacification. Abstract This paper examines a collection of 42 funerary emblems, or jeroglíficos in Spanish, crafted in honour of the Spanish Abbess Mother Jerónima de la Asunción (1555-1630), the foundress of the first female monastery in the Philippines in 1621. While the original copies of these emblems, comprising images, biblical references, and Spanish verses, have yet been discovered, detailed descriptions of each emblem provide valuable insights into the production of imagery in relation to local veneration of a potential saint. By situating these emblems within the broader context of emblematics in early modern Asia, this paper reveals their significance in various cultural events in the Spanish Philippines, including the celebrations of canonizations, royal exequies, literary competitions and other festivities. Moreover, this paper emphasizes the role of emblems as an efficient medium for cultivating devotion to Mother Jerónima not only among the Spanish devotees but potentially among non-Spanish-speaking Christians as well. In summary, this paper underscores the potential of emblematic studies in the Spanish Philippines, contrasting with their widespread use in early modern Iberian America primarily at noble exequies and as aids for catechism.

Resumen Este artículo examina una colección de 42 emblemas funerarios o jeroglíficos elaborados en honor a la abadesa española madre Jerónima de la Asunción (1555-1630), fundadora del primer monasterio femenino en Filipinas, en 1621. Aunque aún no se han descubierto las copias originales de estos emblemas, que comprenden imágenes, referencias bíblicas y versos, las descripciones detalladas de cada uno proporcionan valiosas ideas sobre la producción de imágenes en relación con la veneración local de una potencial santa. Al situar estos emblemas dentro del contexto más amplio de la emblemática en Asia, este artículo revela su importancia en varios acontecimientos culturales en las Filipinas, incluyendo las celebraciones de canonizaciones, exequias reales, certámenes literarios y otras festividades. Además, se enfatiza el papel de los emblemas como un medio eficiente para cultivar la devoción hacia la madre Jerónima no sólo entre los devotos españoles, sino también potencialmente entre los cristianos que no hablan español. Abstract Objective Platelet to albumin ratio (PAR) and prognostic nutritional index (PNI) are potential indicators for evaluating nutritional and inflammatory status. This study aimed to examine the relationship between PAR and PNI and the acute complicated course of acute hematogenous osteomyelitis (AHO). Methods AHO patients were divided into the simple course group and the acute complicated course group. The patient's gender, age, site of infection, body temperature, laboratory results, and pathogen culture results were collected and compared. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to determine the independent risk factors of the acute complicated course group. The receiver operating characteristic curve was applied to determine the optimal cut-off value. Results In total, 101 AHO patients with a median age of 7.58 years were included. There were 63 cases (62.4 %) in the simple course group and 38 cases (37.6 %) in the complicated course group. Binary logistic regression analysis revealed that PAR and PNI were independent risk factors for predicting the acute complicated course of AHO (p = 0.004 and p < 0.001, respectively). Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis demonstrated that the combination of PAR and PNI had an area under the curve of 0.777 (95 % CI: 0.680-0.873, p < 0.001) with a cut-off value of 0.51. Conclusions The incidence of acute complicated courses was significantly higher in patients with high PAR and low PNI. A combined factor greater than 0.51, derived from PAR and PNI measurements within 24 h of admission, may be useful for predicting AHO patients who are likely to develop severe disease. Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the implementation effect of serious illness medical insurance in Guang Xi Zhuang Autonomous Region of western China. Study design: Through the collection of 2017-2021 Guang Xi serious illness medical insurance specific policy making such as fund usage, serious illness compensation, medical expenses data, and data analysis of a serious illness medical insurance effect. Method: Literature research, Policy text analysis, quantitative data collection method, using Excel and SPSS 19.0 data descriptive statistical analysis and comparative analysis. Results: Serious illness medical insurance has had some effect, e.g., from 2017 to 2021, the utilization rate of serious illness medical insurance fund in Guang Xi was 109.49% and 103.87% respectively, the fund balance rate was -9.45% and -8.54% respectively, and the accumulated balance was -2.3871 million CNY and -70.7955 million CNY. Conclusion: The serious illness medical insurance has reduced the burden of large medical expenses of patients to a certain extent, but the fund is under too much pressure, and there is a payment deficit. The coverage and security of serious illness medical insurance need to be expanded and strengthened, and the cooperation mechanism with commercial insurance institutions should be gradually explored to improve the serious illness medical insurance.

Desenho do Estudo: Através da coleta de políticas específicas de seguro médico para doenças graves de Guang Xi 2017-2021, uso de fundos, compensação por doenças graves, dados de despesas médicas e análise de dados de um efeito de seguro médico para doenças graves. Método: Pesquisa na literatura, análise do texto da política, método de coleta de dados quantitativos usando Excel e SPSS 19.0, análise estatística descritiva de dados e análise comparativa. Resultados: Seguro médico de doenças graves teve um certo efeito. Em 2017 e 2021, a taxa de utilização do fundo de seguro médico para doenças graves em Guang Xi foi 109,49% e 103,87% respectivamente, a taxa de saldo do fundo foi -9,45% e -8,54% respectivamente e o saldo acumulado foi -2,3871 milhões de yuans e -70,7955 milhões de yuans. Conclusão: O seguro médico para doenças graves reduziu o ônus de grandes despesas médicas dos pacientes até certo ponto mas o fundo está sob demasiada pressão e há um déficit de pagamentos. Resultados: el seguro médico para enfermedades graves ha demostrado tener efectos, tales como: entre 2017 y 2021, la tasa de utilización de fondos de seguros médicos para enfermedades graves en Guang Xi fue de 109,49 % y 103,87 % respectivamente, las tasas de saldo del fondo fue de -9,45 % y -8,54 % respectivamente y el saldo acumulado fue de -2,3871 millones de CNY y -70,7955 millones de CNY. Conclusión: El seguro médico para enfermedades graves ha reducido en cierta medida la carga de los grandes gastos médicos de los pacientes, pero al existir un déficit de pagos está bajo demasiada presión. ABSTRACT With the dissemination and development of the concept of Ideological and Political Teaching in all Courses in many specialties of Chinese universities, a new trend of teaching strategy reform emerged. However, the limited EIPC reform in the Hispanic philology major at LinYi University limits the development of the educational level. The purpose of this article is to socialize the current situation of the EIPC in the PEA of the audiovisual course at LinYi University. In this research, research methods and techniques are adopted that recognize documentary review and survey, carrying out an analysis of a quantitative and qualitative nature. The results demonstrate the current situation of the EIPC, in this context, highlighting the limitations in the knowledge and management of the EIPC of teachers in the audiovisual PEA, corresponding with other results at an international level and in China. This reality expresses the need to transform the current state from a scientific perspective, for which it will be necessary to conceive alternatives in the future.

RESUMO Com a disseminação e desenvolvimento do conceito de Ensino Ideológico e Político em todos os Cursos de muitas especialidades das universidades chinesas, surgiu uma nova tendência de reforma da estratégia de ensino. No entanto, a reforma limitada do EIPC na especialização em filologia hispânica da Universidade LinYi limita o desenvolvimento do nível educacional. O objetivo deste artigo é socializar a situação atual do EIPC no PEA do curso de audiovisual da Universidade LinYi. Nesta pesquisa são adotados métodos e técnicas de pesquisa que reconhecem a revisão e levantamento documental, realizando uma análise de natureza quantitativa e qualitativa. Os resultados demonstram a situação atual do EIPC, neste contexto, destacando as limitações no conhecimento e gestão do EIPC dos professores do PEA audiovisual, correspondendo a outros resultados a nível internacional e na China. Esta realidade expressa a necessidade de transformar o estado atual a partir de uma visão científica, a partir de alternativas no futuro.

Sin embargo, la escasa reforma de EIPC en la carrera de filología hispánica en la Universidad de LinYi limita el desarrollo del nivel educativo. El propósito de este artículo es socializar la situación actual de la EIPC en el PEA del curso audiovisual en la Universidad de LinYi. En esta investigación se adoptan métodos y técnicas de investigación que reconoce la revisión documental y encuesta, realizando un análisis de naturaleza cuantitativa y cualitativa. Los resultados demuestran la situación actual de la EIPC, en este contexto, singularizando las limitaciones en el conocimiento y la dirección de la EIPC de los profesores en el PEA audiovisual, haciéndose corresponder con otros resultados a nivel internacional y en China. Esta realidad expresa la necesidad de transformación del estado actual desde una visión científica, desde alternativas en el futuro.

Abstract Objectives: The aim of the study was to investigate the clinical effect of stainless-steel wire fixation on the early mouth-opening movement of an intracapsular fracture involving the condylar process. Materials and methods: In this study, patients who underwent mandibular condylar intracapsular fracture surgery in our hospital from 2012 to 2020 were selected as research subjects. A total of 44 patients received steel wire internal fixation treatment, 32 patients received titanium plate-and-nail rigid internal fixation, and 28 patients underwent conservative non-surgical treatment. Results: For the patients in the stainless-steel wire group, the degree of mouth opening reached normal levels of 3.7 cm approximately 10 days after surgery. The recovery time for the patients in the titanium plate-and-nail rigid internal-fixation group was 21 days, while the patients in the conservative treatment group needed 60 days to recover. Conclusion: The treatment of fixation with a stainless-steel wire for intracapsular condylar fracture reduced the time taken to perform mouth-opening exercises and improved the recovery rate of patients.

Resumen Objetivo: Explorar el efecto clínico de la fijación de alambre de acero inoxidable en el movimiento temprano de apertura de la boca en la fractura interna del cóndilo. Método: Este estudio seleccionó a pacientes que se sometieron a cirugía de fractura intracapsular de cóndilo en nuestro hospital de 2012 a 2020 como sujetos de investigación. Un total de 44 pacientes recibieron tratamiento de fijación interna de alambre de acero, 32 recibieron placa de titanio y fijación interna con clavos, y 28 recibieron tratamiento conservador no quirúrgico. Resultados: En los pacientes del grupo de alambre de acero inoxidable, alrededor de 10 días después de la cirugía el grado de apertura de la boca alcanzó un valor normal de 3.7 cm. El tiempo de recuperación de los pacientes en el grupo de fijación interna con clavos y placa de titanio fue de 21 días, mientras que los pacientes en el grupo de tratamiento conservador tardaron 60 días en recuperarse. Conclusiones: La fijación con alambre de acero inoxidable para el tratamiento de la fractura intracapsular del cóndilo acorta el tiempo hasta la apertura de la boca y mejora la tasa de recuperación de los pacientes.

ABSTRACT Background: Adriamycin (ADM) resistance remains an obstacle to gastric cancer chemotherapy treatment. Objective: The objective of this study was to study the role and mechanism of transcription factor E2F7 in sensitivity to ADM chemotherapeutic agents in gastric cancer. Methods: Cell viability and cell sensitivity were assessed by CCK-8 and IC50 values of ADM were calculated. The impact of ADM on cellular proliferative capacity was assessed through colony formation assay. The binding relationship between E2F7 and PKMYT1 was then verified by dual luciferase assay and chromatin immunoprecipitation assay. ERK1/ERK2 and p-ERK1/p-ERK2 protein expression levels were detected by western blot. Results: In both gastric cancer tissue and ADM-resistant cells, a conspicuous upregulation of E2F7 and PKMYT1 was observed. Upregulated PKMYT1 was notably enriched in the MAPK signaling pathway. Enhanced levels of E2F7 were shown to not only drive gastric cancer cell proliferation but also engender a reduction in the sensitivity of these cells to ADM. Furthermore, PKMYT1 emerged as a downstream target of E2F7. Activation of E2F7 culminated in the transcriptional upregulation of PKMYT1, and silencing E2F7 reversed the inhibitory impact of PKMYT1 overexpression on ADM sensitivity in gastric cancer cells. Conclusion: E2F7/PKMYT1 axis might promote the proliferation and partially inhibit ADM sensitivity of gastric cancer cells by activating the MAPK pathway.

ABSTRACT Against the background of a sharp decline in soybean planting, rising imports, and natural disasters in China, finding appropriate distribution areas for soybean has become a matter of urgency so that soybean planting policies can be formulated and soybean food security ensured. Among the numerous ecological niche models, the most suitable one for predicting potential distribution areas of soybean in the frigid region must be identified. Based on 65 soybean occurrence points and nine environmental variables, three ecological niche models, MaxEnt, BIOCLIM, and DOMAIN, were applied to the prediction of potential distribution areas for soybean. According to the analytical comparison, the three models predicted the potential distribution of soybean and, specifically, MaxEnt, stood out above the other two models as regards predicting the soybean distribution (Receiver Operating Characteristic curve, AUC = 0.916, Kappa = 0.685). The potential distribution areas (from low suitability to high suitability) predicted by MaxEnt was the largest and accounted for 59.5 % of the total area. The potential suitable distribution area of soybean was mainly concentrated in relatively flat terrain. The Sanjiang Plain and the Northeast Plain accounted for 9.4 % of the total area in the frigid region and are highly suitability for soybean. At the same time, annual mean temperature, elevation and Apr solar radiation were the key determinants affecting soybeans’ habitat. The widespread use of antibiotics in poultry breeding has led to drug resistance of pathogenic microorganisms. With long-term dependence on antibiotics, immunity in poultry has decreased, increased susceptibility and seriously affecting the quality of poultry protein products and consumer health. Chinese medicinal herbs come mainly from nature and are natural products, so are called green feed additives. It has become an important substitute for antibiotics in high-quality livestock products. In this study, Wanxi White Geese were used as the research object to explore the effects of Chinese medicinal herb feed additives on intestinal microorganisms. Semen Cassiae and Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua increased the number of operational taxonomic units (OTUs) in intestinal microorganisms of geese, and the number of OTUs increased with dosage. Semen Cassiae or Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua has great influence on the abundance of intestinal microbes. The relative abundance of Clostridiales was higher than the control (feeding only the basal diet) after treated with Semen Cassiae or Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua feed additives. Chinese medicinal herb feed additives inhibited Erysipelotrichales and the relative abundance of Erysipelotrichales in all treated samples was lower than the control group. Alpha diversity analysis also showed that Chinese medicinal herb feed additives promoted the diversity of intestinal microorganisms. ABSTRACT Purpose: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease which is categorized via destruction of joint cartilage and it also affects the various joints, especially knees and hips. Sinomenine active phytoconstituents isolated from the stem of Sinomenium acutum and already proof anti-inflammatory effect against the arthritis model of rodent. In this experimental protocol, we scrutinized the anti-osteoarthritis effect of sinomenine against monosodium iodoacetate (MIA) induced OA in rats. Methods: MIA (3 mg/50 μL) was used for inducing the OA in the rats, and rats received the oral administration of sinomenine (2.5, 5 and 7.5 mg/kg body weight) up to the end of the experimental study (four weeks). The body and organs weight were estimated. Aggrecan, C-terminal cross-linked telopeptide of type II collagen (CTX-II), glycosaminoglycans (GCGs), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), Interferon gamma (IFN-γ), antioxidant, inflammatory cytokines, inflammatory mediators and matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) were analyzed. Results: Sinomenine significantly (P < 0.001) boosted the body weight and reduced the heart weight, but the weight of spleen and kidney remain unchanged. RESUMO Descreveu-se o diagnóstico anatômico e ultrassonográfico de abscessos testiculares (n = 2) e microlitíase testicular (n = 3) em carneiros do Cazaquistão. No caso de abscessos testiculares, os sintomas localizados incluem aumento do testículo e diminuição da elasticidade, acompanhados de vários graus de dor e febre. Observou-se comportamento anormal, com o animal andando ou urinando com as pernas abertas, acompanhado de gemidos dolorosos. ABSTRACT Anatomical and ultrasonographic diagnostic work-up of testicular abscesses (n = 2) and testicular microlithiasis (n = 3) in Kazakh rams is described. For testicular abscesses, the localized symptoms include enlargement of the testicle and decreased elasticity, accompanied by varying degrees of pain and fever, abnormal behavior, walking or urinating with legs spread apart and accompanied by painful moans. ABSTRACT This study aimed to prepare Ganoderma-based activated carbons for chemical adsorption and catalyzing N-(phosphonomethyl)iminodiacetic acid to glyphosate. The activated carbons were prepared by applying different activation conditions. These carbon samples were applied to catalyze N-(phosphonomethyl)iminodiacetic acid to glyphosate. The results showed that the black Ganoderma char activated at 800 °C for 90 min using 40% phosphoric acid had the highest methylene blue adsorption capacity and DPPH scavenging activities, but the methylene blue adsorption capacity of the black Ganoderma sample activated at 800 °C for 90 min using 40% acid-base solution was lower than the red AC sample. These carbon samples had high thermal stability. Chemical modifications of these chars with the carbon modifiers at an optimized activation condition increased the Langmuir-specific surface areas of these carbon samples up to 2055.09 m2/g. The carbon sample of black Ganoderma activated using the 40% acid-base solution at 800 °C for 90 min and coupled with the addition of hydrogen peroxide during ultrasonication and microwave-assisted reactions had the highest glyphosate catalyzing rate. The glyphosate yield obtained from the catalyzing at atmospheric pressure was 58.78 ± 0.28%. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of seven different types of additives on the production performance and economic benefits of piglets at the nursery stage. A total of 2806 piglets, at ~21 days of age, were selected and divided into a high-bodyweight (H) group (> 6.5 kg) and a low-bodyweight (L) group (<6.0 kg) based on the weaned bodyweight (BW). Each group was further subdivided into seven additive groups and a control group. The control group was provided with basal diet, while the additive groups received the corresponding functional additives for either 15 or 30 d. Data collection continued until the end of the nursery stage (on the 45th day of the trial, at 70 d of age). Any single additive did not substantially improve the gained BW in nursery piglets. Overall, sex did not result in any BW differences at any time points. Supplementing feed with additives for 30 d led to better results in terms of production performance and economics for both H and L groups compared to 15 d, particularly with the fermented traditional Chinese medicine (additive VI). In comparison to the control group, the beneficial differences in the H group was more than double that observed in the L group. In summary, supplementing with functional additives for 30 d has potential to improve the production performance and economic benefits of nursery piglets, especially high-bodyweight piglets.

ABSTRACT To address the poor fitness and low accuracy of multiobjective parameter optimization, the BP neural network-based constrained multiobjective optimization method was applied to optimize a seed-metering device. Taking the 2BQ-15 type Panax notoginseng seed-metering device as the research object, the picking hole column diameter, forward velocity, and dropping seed point-to-picking hole roll distance were selected as the experimental factors, and the quality index, missing index and multiple index were selected as the performance indicators. The experimental scheme was designed by the quadratic orthogonal rotation combination, and the BP neural network of the precision seed-metering device was built from the experimental data. The seed-metering device was optimized by the proposed method, and the optimal parameter combinations were obtained as follows: the picking hole column diameter was 27 mm, the forward velocity was 0.50 m/s, and the dropping seed point-to-picking hole roll distance was 330 mm. Under such parameter combinations, the quality index is 93.4%, the missing index is 3.15%, and the multiple index is 3.35%. ABSTRACT Objective: To investigate the relationship between fasting blood glucose (FBG) and carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) in premenopausal and postmenopausal women. Subjects and methods: The study enrolled 2,959 women seen at the Maanshan People's Hospital of Anhui Province from December 2013 to December 2018. Carotid IMT was measured using Doppler ultrasound. Linear regression and R smoothing curves were used to analyze the relationship between blood glucose level and carotid IMT in the premenopausal and postmenopausal groups. Results: Postmenopausal compared with premenopausal women had higher mean IMT (mIMT; 0.81 ± 0.23 mm versus 0.70 ± 0.14 mm, respectively, p < 0.001) and maximum IMT (maxIMT; 0.86 ± 0.35 mm versus 0.74 ± 0.16 mm, respectively, p < 0.001) values. On linear regression analysis, mIMT values increased with increasing FBG values when FBG level was ≤ 7 mmol/L, but no significance was found between FBG and maxIMT. After stratification by menopausal status, mIMT and maxIMT increased with increasing FBG when FBG was ≤ 7 mmol/L in the premenopausal group. In the postmenopausal group, mIMT and maxIMT increased with increasing FBG. After adjustment for covariate factors, the relationship between FBG and mIMT remained the same as before the adjustment, but when FBG was ≤ 11 mmol/L, the maxIMT increased with increasing FBG. In the stratification analysis, maxIMT increased with increasing FBG when FBG was ≤ 7 mmol/L in the premenopausal group, while both mIMT and maxIMT increased with increasing FBG when FBG was > 10 mmol/L in the postmenopausal group. Conclusion: Levels of FBG contributed more to increased IMT in postmenopausal than premenopausal women. The influence of FBG was greater on maxIMT than mIMT.
