RESUMO: Este trabalho avaliou diferentes genótipos de arroz quanto a parâmetros físico-químicos e instrumentais de qualidade do grão e associou os dados à análise sensorial para subsidiar a criação de regras de classificação da qualidade culinária do arroz (textura), com base em parâmetros isolados ou combinados. A combinação do teor de amilose e temperatura de gelatinização foi capaz de predizer a qualidade do arroz. De acordo com o painel sensorial, a pegajosidade instrumental foi capaz de segregar arroz com baixo teor de amilose ou ceroso dos demais. Em relação às propriedades de pasta, o arroz que apresentou alta viscosidade final (310-480RVU), retrogradação (165-245RVU) e temperatura de pasta (78-88 °C) e baixos valores de quebra pasta (15-120RVU), associados a uma alta pegajosidade (> -5N) será desejável pelos consumidores brasileiros. ABSTRACT: This research evaluated different rice genotypes regarding physicochemical and instrumental parameters of grain quality and associated the data with sensory analysis to support the creation of rules for classification of the culinary quality of rice (texture), based on isolated or combined parameters. The combination of amylose content and gelatinization temperature was able to predict the rice quality. According to the sensorial panel, the instrumental stickiness was able to segregate rice with very low amylose content or waxy to the other ones. The aim of this study was to analyze visual communication media displayed in the reception areas of Primary Care Centers (PCCs). We conducted a qualitative study of 16 PCCs in Içara, Santa Catarina, Brazil. We took photographs of the media and conducted a semiotic analysis involving the following stages: selection of images, denotative inventory, analysis of levels of meaning, cessation decision and reporting. The data were organized using ATLAS.ti 22. The results indicated five categories of media: health care support materials (38.5%); information on PCCs (26.7%); PCC structural problems (15.7%); health team patient recommendations (15.7%); and decorative objects (3.4%). PCCs should display few support materials and notices in the reception area; furniture needs to be in good condition; bright colors, exposed electric cables, damaged floors and religious symbols should be avoided.

El objetivo del estudio es analizar comunicaciones visuales dispuestas en la recepción de Unidades Básicas de Salud (UBS). Se trata de un estudio cualitativo, realizado en 16 UBS del municipio de Içara, estado de Santa Catarina, Brasil. Se realizó un registro fotográfico, conforme análisis semiótico, a saber: elección de las imágenes, inventario denotativo, niveles de significación, decisión de cese e informe. Para la organización de los datos se utilizó el Atlas.ti 22. Los resultados indicaron 5 categorías: materiales de apoyo al proceso de trabajo en salud (38,5%); informaciones sobre las UBS (26,7%); dificultades estructurales de las UBS (15,7%); recomendaciones del equipo de salud a los usuarios (15,7%); y objetos decorativos de las recepciones en UBS (3,4%). Las UBS deben tener sus recepciones con pocos materiales de apoyo e informes; el mobiliario precisa estar en condiciones adecuadas; deben evitarse colores muy fuertes, cables eléctricos expuestos, pisos dañados y simbología religiosa.

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate in vitro the effect protocols and anticaries agents containing casein amorphous calcium fluoride phosphopeptide-phosphate (CPP-ACPF, MI Paste Plus), sodium trimetaphosphate (TMP) and fluoride (F), in remineralization of caries lesions. Bovine enamel blocks with initial caries lesions were divided into groups (n = 12): 1) Toothpaste without F-TMP-MI Plus (Placebo); 2) Toothpaste 1100 ppm F (1100F), 3) 1100F + MI Paste Plus (1100F-MI Paste Plus), 4) Toothpaste with 1100F + Neutral gel with 4,500 ppm F + 5%TMP (1100F + Gel TMP) and 5) Toothpaste with 1100F + Neutral gel with 9,000 ppm F (1100F + Gel F). For the 4 and 5 groups the gel was applied only once for 1 minute, initially to the study. For the 3 group, after treatment with 1100F, MI Paste Plus was applied 2x/day for 3 minute. After pH cycling, the percentage of surface hardness recovery (%SHR); integrated loss of subsurface hardness (ΔKHN); profile and depth of the subsuperficial lesion (PLM); concentrations of F, calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) in enamel was determined. The data were analyzed by ANOVA (1-criterion) and Student-Newman-Keuls test (p < 0.001). Treatment with 1100F alone led to ~ 28% higher remineralization when compared to treatment with 1100F associated with MI Paste Plus (p < 0.001). The 1100F and 1100F + Gel F groups showed similar values for %SHR (p = 0.150). 1100F + Gel TMP treatment also remineralized the enamel surface by ~ 30% and 20% when compared to the 1100F + Gel F and 1100F groups (p < 0.001). The lower lesion depth (ΔKHN) was observed for the 1100F + Gel TMP group (p < 0.001), where it was 54% and 44% lower in comparison to the 1100F and 1100F + Gel F groups (p < 0.001). Polarized light microscopy photomicrographs showed subsurface lesions in all groups, but these lesions were present to a lower extent in the 1100F + Gel TMP group (p < 0.001). Treatment with 1100F + Gel TMP promoted an increase in the concentration of Ca in the enamel by ~ 57% and ~ 26% when compared to the 1100F and 1100F + MI Paste Plus groups (p < 0.001), respectively. There were no significant differences between the 1100F, 1100F + MI Paste Plus and 1100F + Gel F groups (p > 0.001). Similar values of P in the enamel were observed in the 1100F, 1100F + MI Paste Plus and 1100F + Gel F groups (p > 0.001), except for the 1100F + Gel TMP group, which presented a high concentration (p < 0.001). Método: pesquisa qualitativa com estudo de casos múltiplos, desenvolvida em três hospitais do sul do Brasil, envolvendo 58 participantes. ABSTRACT Objective: To identify environmental factors that favor monitoring care effectiveness indicators in the dimensions of safety and patient-centered care in hospitals. Method: Qualitative research with multiple cases study, carried out in three hospitals in south Brazil, involving 58 participants. Data was collected between June 2020 and December 2021 through questionnaires, interviews, focus groups, and institutional documents subjected to categorical content analysis. Results: The following categories were identified: internal and external environmental factors; and subcategories: convergent and non-convergent, namely: internal convergent - strategic planning and management support for quality management, information systems, and institutional strategies, methods and procedures; internal non-convergent: public teaching hospital; and external convergent - public policies and epidemiological factors; and non-convergent - accrediting agency and hospital network. ABSTRACT In conjunction with experimental studies, computational tools based on the Finite Element Method (FEA) have made it possible to analyze the phenomenon of punching and the influence of prestressing on the ultimate strength of flat slabs and thus understand this phenomenon through numerical simulations. In this study, experimental tests were simulated through three-dimensional analyses, using the constitutive models implemented in the ATENA 3D computer program, it was possible to validate the numerical results through the load-displacement and load-strain curves being compared with the experimental curves. The numerical results showed a difference in load capacity of less than 2% for the experimental models. After adequate calibration, a parametric study with eight models of prestressed slabs was implemented by varying the spacing and eccentricity of the prestressing tendons, punching resistance being evaluated with the new parameters. ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: The risk of death due to tuberculosis (TB) in Brazil is high and strongly related to living conditions (LC). However, epidemiological studies investigating changes in LC and their impact on TB are lacking. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the impact of LC on TB mortality in Brazil. DESIGN AND SETTING: This ecological study, using panel data on spatial and temporal aggregates, was conducted in 1,614 municipalities between 2002 and 2015. METHODS: Data were collected from the Mortality Information System and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. The proxy variable used for LC was the Urban Health Index (UHI). Negative binomial regression models were used to estimate the effect of the UHI on TB mortality rate. Attributable risk (AR) was used as an impact measure. RESULTS: From 2002 to 2015, TB mortality rate decreased by 23.5%, and LC improved. The continuous model analysis resulted in an RR = 0.89 (95%CI = 0.82–0.96), so the AR was −12.3%. The categorized model showed an effect of 0.92 (95%CI = 0.83–0.95) in municipalities with intermediate LC and of 0.83 (95%CI = 0.82–0.91) in those with low LC, representing an AR for TB mortality of −8.7% and −20.5%, respectively. Abstract Introduction Turner syndrome (TS) affects ~ 1 in 2,500 live births. The presence of hearing alterations is one of the comorbidities found in this syndrome. Objective The present study aimed to evaluate the central auditory abilities in TS and to associate the alterations found with the cytogenetic pattern of the syndrome. Methods We included children and adults aged 9 to 39 years old, diagnosed with TS, with numerical or structural alterations of sex chromosomes in their karyotype. A battery of behavioral tests of central auditory processing (CAP) was performed, including a test within the modalities: monoaural low-redundancy, dichotic listening, binaural interaction, and temporal processing (resolution and ordering). We studied auditory skills in the total sample and in the sample stratified by age, divided into groups: G1 (9 to 13 years old), G2 (14 to 19 years old), and G3 (20 to 31 years old). For the association of the cytogenetic pattern, the division was T1 (chromosome monosomy X), and T2 (other TS cytogenetic patterns). Statistical analysis presented data expressed as median and interquartile range for numerical data and as frequency and percentage for categorical data. Results We found alterations in four auditory skills in the three age groups, but there was a statistically significant difference between the age groups only in the Gaps in Noise Test (GIN) (p-value = 0.009). ABSTRACT Objective: to understand the physiological aspects involved in pre-absorptive thirst satiety based on advances in neurophysiology and their applicability to healthcare. Method: this is a reflective study that compiles physiological phenomena related to the form of satiety, describing the neurophysiological pathway for pre-absorptive thirst satiety. Results: the anticipatory mechanisms involved in thirst inhibition are related to thermoreceptors, osmoreceptors, mechanoreceptors, gastric and cognitive mechanisms. The use of cold temperature is key to pre-absorptive satiety, as its stimuli are transmitted to the cortical and limbic regions, providing a sensation of pleasantness, gratification and pleasure. In this way, individuals reach pre-absorptive thirst satiety in a few minutes. Conclusion: liquid or solid contents at a cold temperature help to achieve pre-absorptive thirst satiety, as they activate mechanisms that anticipate intake inhibition. Método: estudio reflexivo, que recopila los fenómenos fisiológicos relacionados con la forma de saciar la sed, describiendo el camino neurofisiológico hacia la saciedad preabsortiva de la sed. Resultados: los mecanismos anticipatorios implicados en la inhibición de la sed están relacionados con termorreceptores, osmorreceptores, mecanorreceptores, mecanismos gástricos y cognitivos. El uso de la temperatura fría es la clave para la saciedad preabsortiva, ya que sus estímulos se transmiten a las regiones corticales y límbicas, confiriendo una sensación de agrado, gratificación y placer. El objetivo del estudio es analizar comunicaciones visuales dispuestas en la recepción de Unidades Básicas de Salud (UBS). Se trata de un estudio cualitativo, realizado en 16 UBS del municipio de Içara, estado de Santa Catarina, Brasil. Se realizó un registro fotográfico, conforme análisis semiótico, a saber: elección de las imágenes, inventario denotativo, niveles de significación, decisión de cese e informe. Para la organización de los datos se utilizó el Atlas.ti 22. Los resultados indicaron 5 categorías: materiales de apoyo al proceso de trabajo en salud (38,5%); informaciones sobre las UBS (26,7%); dificultades estructurales de las UBS (15,7%); recomendaciones del equipo de salud a los usuarios (15,7%); y objetos decorativos de las recepciones en UBS (3,4%). resumo: Investigações experimentais têm sido comumente usadas para melhorar o conhecimento existente sobre o projeto estrutural, apresentando conclusões precisas sobre o comportamento da estrutura. No entanto, considerando as limitações dos estudos experimentais, como quantidade restrita de extensômetros, patologias inesperadas, dificuldades de previsão do correto posicionamento das fissuras ou simples economia de custos, o uso da análise numérica pode apresentar algumas abordagens inovadoras para a compreensão do processo de falha em elementos de concreto, apresentando resultados mais fáceis onde programas experimentais dificilmente podem relatar. Este estudo apresenta a análise numérica de oito vigas experimentadas por Sherwood [26], com dois tamanhos diferentes e agregados de tamanhos variados, buscando-se entender a influência do tamanho do agregado na resistência ao cisalhamento de vigas sem estribos. A abordagem numérica foi usada para avaliar a influência de cada mecanismo de cisalhamento interno e para identificar a quantidade específica de força de pino, transferência de cisalhamento na zona de compressão não fissurada e a parcela de intertravamento de agregados. Os resultados mostraram que resultados razoáveis podem ser obtidos por abordagens de fissuras distribuídas 2D, permitindo a identificação da maior porção de intertravamento do agregado em vigas com maiores tamanhos de agregado graúdo. A comparação do efeito de escala em vigas permitiu concluir que uma maior contribuição do intertravamento de agregados pode ser obtida em vigas grandes, com quase 64% da contribuição total, enquanto as vigas menores tiveram apenas 43%. Os resultados de Sherwood [26] foram comparados com as normas Model Code [23], CSA-A.23.3 [24], NBR 6118 [38] e ACI 318 [39] para avaliar a precisão das normas estudadas. abstract: Experimental investigations have been commonly used to improve the existing knowledge about structural design, presenting accurate conclusions regarding structure behavior. However, considering the limitations of experimental studies, such as restricted amount of strain gauges, unexpected pathologies, difficulties to foresee the correct position of cracks, or simply saving in costs, the use of numerical analysis can present some innovative approaches to understand the process of failure in concrete elements, presenting easier results where experimental programs can hardly report. This study presents the numerical analysis of eight beams experimented by Sherwood [26], with two different sizes and variable aggregate sizes, seeking to understand the influence of coarse aggregate size in shear strength of beams without stirrups. The numerical approach was used to derive the influence of each internal shear mechanism and to identify the specific amount of dowel force, shear transfer by uncracked compression zone and aggregate interlock portion. The results showed that fair results can be obtained by 2D smeared crack approaches, enabling the identification of major aggregate interlock portion in beams with bigger coarse aggregate sizes. Comparing the size effect in beams allowed us to conclude that a higher contribution of aggregate interlock contribution can be obtained in large beams, with almost 64% of the total contribution, whereas smaller beams had only 43%. To evaluate the accuracy of the studied mechanisms, the results of Sherwood [26] were compared with the standards Model Code [23], CSA-A.23.3 [24], NBR 6118 [38], and ACI 318 [39]. ABSTRACT Background: Malaria is a parasitosis conditioned by several factors. This study sought to analyze the spatial distribution of malaria considering environmental, socioeconomic, and political variables in São Félix do Xingu, Pará, Brazil, from 2014 to 2020. Methods: Epidemiological, cartographic, and environmental data were obtained from the Ministry of Health, Brazilian Geographical and Statistical Institute, and National Space Research Institute. Statistical and spatial distribution analyses were performed using chi-squared tests of expected equal proportions and the kernel and bivariate global Moran’s techniques with Bioestat 5.0 and ArcGIS 10.5.1. Results: The highest percentage of cases occurred in adult males with brown skin color, mainly placer miners, with a primary education level, living in rural areas, who were infected with Plasmodium vivax and with parasitemia of two or three crosses as diagnosed by the thick drop/smear test. The disease had a non-homogeneous distribution, with distinct annual parasite indices associated with administrative districts and clusters of cases in locations with deforestation, mining, and pastures close to Conservation Units and Indigenous Lands. Thus, a direct relationship between areas with cases and environmental degradation associated with land use was demonstrated, along with the precarious availability of health services. Pressure on protected areas and epidemiological silence in Indigenous Lands were also noted. Conclusions: Environmental and socioeconomic circuits were identified for development of diseases associated with precarious health services in the municipality. These findings highlight the need to intensify malaria surveillance and contribute to the systematic knowledge of malaria’s epidemiology by considering the complexity of its conditioning factors. Resumo Não há registros de casos autóctones de leishmaniose visceral canina (LVC) no município de Curitiba, Paraná, Brasil. Em 2020, um "bulldog" francês macho (CW01), com aproximadamente 2 anos de idade, foi levado por seus donos a uma clínica veterinária particular. A suspeita de LVC foi confirmada por meio de teste sorológico (reagente ELISA/IFAT), imunoensaio cromatográfico rápido (DPP®) (ELISA - Biomanguinhos®), cultura parasitológica e reação quantitativa em cadeia da polimerase (qPCR). O animal frequentava, rotineiramente, parques de Curitiba e foi levado em diversas viagens para Bombinhas e Balneário Camboriú (Santa Catarina) e para Matinhos (Paraná), onde a LVC não havia sido relatada anteriormente. O tratamento foi iniciado por via oral com Milteforan™ (Virbac) o que resultou em redução significativa da carga parasitária. A suspeita de autóctone foi investigada por meio de pesquisa entomológica. Foram instaladas 10 armadilhas, uma na casa do animal, sete em quarteirões adjacentes e duas na borda da mata. Abstract There are no records of autochthonous cases of canine visceral leishmaniasis in the city of Curitiba, Paraná state, Brazil. In 2020, a male French bulldog (CW01), approximately 2 years old was taken by its owners to a private veterinarian clinic. The suspicion of CVL was confirmed by means of a serology test (ELISA/IFAT reagent), rapid chromatographic immunoassay (DPP®) (ELISA - Biomanguinhos®), parasitological culture and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). The animal routinely frequented parks in Curitiba and was taken on several trips to the municipalities of Bombinhas and Balneário Camboriú (Santa Catarina) and to Matinhos (Paraná) where CVL had not previously been reported. Treatment was initiated orally with Milteforan™ which resulted in a significant reduction in the parasitic load. The suspicion of autochthony was investigated through entomological research. A total of 10 traps were installed, one at the animal’s home, seven in adjacent city blocks and two in a forest edge. No sandflies were trapped in the dog’s home and adjacent houses. The traps in the forest edge caught one Migonemyia migonei female and five Brumptomyia spp. females. Abstract Objective To verify the influence of low birth weight and rapid postnatal weight gain and associated factors on blood pressure in adolescence in a population of low socioeconomic status, considering that injuries occur in the perinatal period can be predictors of future metabolic changes and are still poorly explored. Methods A cohort study was carried out with 208 adolescents, 78 born with low weight and 130 born with appropriate weight. The infants were followed up during the first six postnatal months and reassessed at 8 and 18 years of age. The independent variables were birthweight and postnatal weight gain. Rapid postnatal weight gain was defined when above 0.67 z score. The co-variables were sex, maternal height and family income at birth, nutritional status at eight years old, socioeconomic conditions, nutritional status, fat mass index, and physical activity level at 18 years. The outcome variable was blood pressure at 18 years old. The bivariate and multivariable logistic regression analysis were realized and p < 0,05 was considered significant. Results The proportion of adolescents with elevated blood pressure was 37.5%. The multivariable logistic regression analysis showed the variables independently associated with a higher chance of elevated blood pressure in adolescence were rapid postnatal weight gain (OR = 2.74; 95% CI 1.22-6.14; p= 0.014), male sex (OR = 4.15; 95% CI 1.66-10.38; p= 0.002) and being physically active (OR = 2.70; 95% CI 1.08-6.74; p= 0.034). Abstract Twenty six sweet cassava clones were evaluated in two agricultural years, in randomized block design, with 3 replications and plots with 25 plants. The harvests were at 12 months after planting, in both years. The traits evaluated were root yield (RY), dry matter content (DMC), total carotenoids content (TC), β-carotene content (BC), trans-β-carotene content (TrBC) and total cyanide content (TCy). Genotype was significant (P<0.05) in all traits. Broad-sense heritability estimates at the plot level ( h m g 2 ) ranged from 77% (RY) to 93% (TC and TrBC), while the accuracy ranged from 0.88 (RY) to 0.96 (BC and TrBC). The genetic correlations among TC, BC and TrBC were high (0.96 to 0.99) and significant, and the genetic correlations involving these traits and TCy were negative. RESUMO Objetivo – Este estudo busca compreender como os gestores da construção civil percebem a gestão de riscos em seus projetos e negócios a partir de um estudo de caso na cidade de Volta Redonda-RJ. Método – Os dados foram coletados por meio de questionários e entrevistas. Os dados quantitativos primários foram analisados pela Lógica Paraconsistente e apresentados por meio de estatística descritiva. Resultados – Constatou-se que 87% da amostra não passou por nenhuma etapa do processo de gestão de riscos. Para aqueles que o fizeram, as etapas foram essencialmente intuitivas e informais. Além disso, observou-se uma distorção por parte dos gestores quanto ao entendimento do que é gestão de risco, para que serve e a diferença entre seus projetos e o próprio negócio. Implicações práticas – Apesar de não generalizáveis, os resultados da pesquisa mostram um alto apetite ao risco por parte dos construtores, mas baixa disponibilidade de absorção de seus efeitos. ABSTRACT Purpose: This study seeks to understand how the managers of the civil construction industry perceive risk management in their projects and businesses based on a case study in the region of Volta Redonda-RJ. Design/methodology/approach: Primary data was collected through questionnaires and interviews. The primary quantitative data were analyzed using Paraconsistent Logic and presented with descriptive statistics. Findings: It was found that 87% of the sample did not go through any steps of the risk management process. For those that did, the steps were essentially intuitive and informal. Further, a distortion was observed on behalf of the managers regarding the understanding of what risk management is, what it is helpful for, and the difference between their projects and the business itself. Practical implications: Although not generalizable, the research results show a high appetite for risk on the part of contractors but a low willingness to absorb its effects. Originality/value: Studies that apply paraconsistent logic to understand builders’ perceptions of the importance of risk management are scarce in the literature.
