Abstract The “International Group for Lean Construction” aims to adopt a new management philosophy for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. Abstract Objective To evaluate the growth trajectory of head circumference and neurodevelopment, and to correlate head circumference with cognitive, language, and motor outcomes during the first two years. Method Prospective cohort study in a tertiary hospital including 95 newborns under 32 weeks or 1500 g. Neonates who developed major neonatal morbidities were excluded. The head circumference was measured at birth, at discharge, and at term-equivalent age, 1, 3, 5, 12, 18, and 24 months of corrected age, and the Bayley Scales (Bayley-III) were applied at 12, 18 and 24 months of corrected age to assess cognitive, language and, motor domains. Scores below 85 were classified as mild/moderate deficits and scores below 70 as severe deficits. The association between head circumference Z score and Bayley scores was assessed using Pearson's correlation. The study considered a significance level of 0.05. Results There was a decrease of -0.18 in the head circumference Z score between birth and discharge and the catch-up occurred between discharge and 1 month (an increase of 0.81 in the Z score). There was a positive correlation between head circumference and Bayley scores at 18 months. There was also a positive correlation between head circumference at discharge and at 5 months with the three domains of the Bayley. Conclusion Serial measurements of head circumference provide knowledge of the trajectory of growth, with early catch-up between discharge and 1 month, as well as its association with neurodevelopment. Introdução: O ensino em cirurgia deve acompanhar a evolução das técnicas, procedimentos e tecnologia. Desde a década de 90 a videocirurgia vem se desenvolvendo e hoje é a primeira escolha para muitos procedimentos em cirugia geral. Com características diferentes da cirurgia convencional, os residentes treinaram em simuladores para adaptação. A literatura médica mundial já apresenta programas consagrados para treinamento entre eles os Fundamentos da Cirurgia Laparoscópica (FLS). A avaliação das habilidades técnicas cirúrgicas é uma ferramenta importante em programas de residência médica. Objetivo: Avaliar o impacto do treinamento através de aquisição de habilidades dos médicos residentes em cirurgia geral antes e após treinamento teórico-prático em videocirurgia utilizando um simulador de baixa fidelidade baseado em exercícios do FLS. Método: Estudar de modo prospectivo a aquisição de habilidades de médicos residentes em cirurgia geral de primeiro e segundo ano (R1 e R2), antes e após realização de treinamento teórico-prático pré-definido. Conclusão: Houve melhora significativa com o treinamento atingindo níveis de conhecimento e aprimoramento semelhantes aos trabalhos da literatura mundial. A melhoria no desempenho dos residentes foi evidente em ambos os grupos da amostra. Aqueles do primeiro ano atingiram a concentração de conhecimento após o treinamento semelhante ao desempenho dos residentes de segundo ano na avaliação inicial, destacando que o treinamento sequenciado realizado equivale a um ano de prática no programa de residência geral de cirurgia

Introduction: Teaching in surgery must follow the evolution of medical techniques, procedures and technology. Since the 90s videosurgery has been developing and nowadays is the gold standard for many procedures in general surgery. As there are different characteristics from conventional surgery, residents need to practice in order to adapt to simulators. The world medical literature has established many training programs among them the Fundaments of laparoscopic Surgery (FLS). Evaluation of surgical technical abilities is a major tool for the residency programs. Objectives: To assess the effect of training acquiring skills of residents at first and second postgraduated level year (PGY1 and PGY2) before and after practice using low fidelity simulator based on tasks from FLS. Methods: A prospective study was conducted to determinate skills acquisition of residents at first and second postgraduated level year l (PGY1 and PGY2) before and after standardized practice using low fidelity simulator. Conclusions: There was a significant improve of the technical abilities reaching levels of improvement. Resident’s performance was evident in the sample groups. First year residents (PGY1) achieved knowledge retention after training similar to the performance of second in the initial assessment, suggesting that the sequenced training carried out is equivalent to one year of practice in the general surgery residency program

Introduction: Surgical procedures were systematized and scientifically based at the end of the 19th century by William Stewart Halsted. Through scientific studies, anatomical principles, knowledge of physiology and pathology, strict aseptic techniques, gentle tissue manipulation, among others, were systematized. This lasted for centuries. But the modern technological era invented videosurgery and complicated the previously used teaching method. Objective: Review previously published teaching methods using simulators. Method: This is a narrative review carried out in the PubMed and Scielo databases. The search used the following keywords: videosurgery, teaching, simulators, training. The inclusion criteria comprised review articles and experimental studies, written in Portuguese and English and available in full text. The selected articles were analyzed based on the technologies covered, future perspectives and challenges mentioned. Result: 28 articles were included. Conclusion: As the results of this review on simulators show, once trained residents begin learning videolaparoscopic operations much more easily and safely.

Introdução: Os procedimentos cirúrgicos foram sistematizados e embasados cientificamente no final do século XIX por William Stewart Halsted. Por meio de estudos científicos, princípios anatômicos, conhecimento de fisiologia e patologia que permitiram sistematizar técnica asséptica estrita, manipulação tecidual gentil, dentro de outros. Isto perdurou por séculos. Mas a moderna era tecnológica inventou a videocirurgia e complicou o método de ensino anteriormente usado. Objetivo: Revisar os métodos de ensino feito por simuladores já publicados. Método: Trata-se de revisão narrativa realizada nas bases de dados PubMed e Scielo. A busca utilizou as seguintes palavras-chave: videocirurgia, ensino, simuladores, treinamento. Os critérios de inclusão compreenderam artigos de revisão e estudos experimentais, escritos em português e inglês e disponíveis em texto completo. Os trabalhos selecionados foram analisados com base nas tecnologias abordadas, perspectivas futuras e desafios mencionados. Resultado: Foram incluídos 28 artigos. Conclusão: Conforme mostram os resultados desta revisão sobre simuladores, os residentes depois de treinados, iniciariam o aprendizado de operações videolaparoscópicas com muito mais facilidade e segurança.

Objetivo: Desenvolver modelo para ensino e treinamento em videocirurgia com plataforma de baixo custo, fácil execução e baixa fidelidade com tarefas que utilizam materiais sintéticos. Método: Construiu-se com materiais de baixo custo plataforma utilizando apenas placa de madeira, poucos materiais de ferragem (parafuso simples, parafuso com porca tipo borboleta, gancho com rosca), folha de EVA (etileno acetato de vinila), tinta branca para artesanato e caneta hidrográfica. A amostra-teste foi composta por 15 cirurgiões gerais com mais de 10 anos de experiência em videolaparoscopia. Iniciou-se a avaliação com um vídeo explicativo com duração de 20 min. A seguir, cada cirurgião executou 5 tarefas gravadas para posterior análise e pontuação. Mediu-se as habilidades de acordo com a pontuação. Resultados: A plataforma foi útil e eficaz em reproduzir as atividades utilizadas para replicação do programa comparativo do Fundaments of Laparoscopic Surgery. A amostra de cirurgiões atingiu o tempo alvo definido como padrão pelo programa. Conclusão: A plataforma elaborada com materiais de baixo custo é de fácil aquisição, mostrou-se modelo eficaz para treinamento em videocirurgia, de fácil replicabilidade e construção, adaptável a vários modelos de tarefas, e feita com materiais sintéticos.

Introduction: Teaching in conventional surgery has traditionally been based on the Halstedian model of “see one, do one, and teach one”. However, with the widespread success of videolaparoscopic surgery, the teaching method needed to be adapted to a novel “Do many, always mentored” model. The modern era of surgery demands sequential training with progressively increasing complexity and supervised repetition, in order to acquire specific skills prior to the first surgical procedure. Objective: To develop a new experimental teaching and training with low cost and low fidelity platform for laparoscopic surgery using synthetic materials, and simple manufacturing. Method: A platform was built using low-cost materials easily found in hardware stores, consisting of a wooden board and a few hardware materials (threaded bolt, wing nut and bolt, threaded hooks), EVA sheet (ethylene vinylacetat), white crafting paint, and felt-tip pen. The sample consisted of 15 general surgeons with more than 10 years of experience in videolaparoscopy. The evaluation began with an explanatory video lasting 20 min. Next, each surgeon performed 5 recorded tasks for later analysis and scoring. Skills were measured according to the stablished score. Results: The developed platform was useful and capable of reproducing the tasks performed based on the program of Fundaments of Laparoscopic Surgery. All the surgeons of the sample group achieved the target time proposed for the program. Conclusion: Was shown that the proposed platform can be built using easily obtainable and low-cost materials, and it proved to be an effective model for training in laparoscopic surgery, being easy to replicate and construct. Additionally, this platform can be easily adapted to various models of tasks using materials similar to those found in other training programs, that are widely practiced and have been globally validated.

Abstract Background: Methotrexate (MTX) is an alternative treatment for patients with moderate/severe atopic dermatitis (AD). Objective: The authors evaluated the effect of MTX on the cutaneous expression of cytokines and chemokines that are involved in the inflammatory response in adult AD patients who received treatment with methotrexate for 24 weeks. Methods: The authors conducted a prospective single-institution cohort study with 12 adults with moderate/severe AD who received oral MTX (15 mg/wk for 24 wks) and 10 non-atopic matched controls. The comparison was made of skin biopsies of lesional and non-lesional skin, pre- and post MTX treatment. The authors analyzed mean epidermal thickness and expression of IL-31, IL-31RA, OSMR, TSLP, Ki67, IL-4 mRNA, IL-6, IL-10, TNF-α, IFN-γ, TARC, and CCL-22. Results: There was a reduction in mean epidermal thickness (p = 0.021), an increase in IL-31RA expression (immunohistochemistry) in the epidermis (p = 0.016) and a decrease in IL-31 gene expression (p = 0.019) on lesional AD skin post-MTX treatment. No significant changes in the cutaneous expression of the other evaluated markers were identified. Study limitations: Small sample size and limited length of follow-up. Resumo O estudo objetiva pesquisar o uso da cinza da casca do murumuru (CCM), um resíduo agroindustrial gerado especificamente na região amazônica como substituição parcial do cimento no concreto estrutural e avaliar as características físicas, químicas e mineralógicas da cinza para atuação como filler no concreto, além de suas propriedades no estado fresco e endurecido no concreto. Abstract This research paper focuses on the use of murumuru husk ash (MHA), an agro-industrial waste generated specifically in the Amazon region, as partial replacement of cement in structural concrete. It also evaluates the physical, chemical and mineralogical characteristics of the ash to act as filler in concrete and its properties in the fresh and hardened states in concrete. To this end, the MHA performed physical-mechanical characterization tests, such as specific mass, pozzolanic activity with Portland cement, pozzolanic activity with lime, and BET test, also performing the mineralogical and chemical analysis of the ash. The results showed that there is technical feasibility with partial replacement of 6% of MHA in cement using plasticizer additive to improve workability, thus showing an improvement in the physical-mechanical and durability properties of the concrete. ABSTRACT Objective To describe the prevalence, characteristics, and factors associated with sexual violence in transgender women and travestis (TGW) in Brazil. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted in five Brazilian cities (Campo Grande, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Salvador, and São Paulo) between 2019 and 2021. Participants were recruited using the respondent-driven sampling (RDS) technique. The outcome of interest is the self-reported experience of sexual violence throughout the respondents’ lifetime. We evaluated the actions taken by victims of sexual violence and how they dealt with the experience. Logistic regression analysis was employed to examine the associations between sociodemographic and behavioral factors (such as race, income, drug use, sex work, and access to healthcare) and the outcome. Results A total of 1,317 TGW were interviewed. Among them, 53% (n=698) reported experiencing sexual violence. For 64.4% (n=419) of the respondents, sexual violence occurred on more than one occasion. The majority of TGW did not seek health services (93.2%, n=648), disclose the violence (93.9%, n=653), nor seek support from family or friends (86.5%, n=601). A higher prevalence of sexual violence was associated with homelessness (adjusted prevalence ratio — aPR=1.69, 95% confidence interval — 95%CI 1.01–2.84), a history of engaging in sex work (aPR=2.04, 95%CI 1.46–2.85), self-reporting regular, bad, or very bad emotional health (aPR=1.67, 95%CI 1.28–2.19), and experiencing difficulties accessing health services in the previous year (aPR=2.78, 95%CI 1.74–4.43). Conclusion The high prevalence of sexual violence, analyzed together with the actions of the victims, indicates a context of high vulnerability and low institutional support. In this scenario, violence can be exacerbated, resulting in severe health consequences.

RESUMO Objetivo Descrever a prevalência, características e fatores associados à violência sexual em mulheres trans e travestis (MTT) no Brasil. Métodos Estudo transversal conduzido em cinco cidades brasileiras (Campo Grande, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Salvador e São Paulo) entre 2019 e 2021. As ações tomadas pelas vítimas e como elas lidaram com a experiência foram avaliadas. Análise de regressão logística foi empregada para examinar as associações entre fatores sociodemográficos e comportamentais (como raça, renda, trabalho sexual e acesso aos serviços de saúde) e o desfecho. Resultados Um total de 1.317 MTT foram entrevistadas. Entre elas, 53% (n=698) relataram violência sexual. Para 64,4% (n=419) destas, a violência sexual ocorreu em mais de uma ocasião. A maioria das MTT não procurou serviços de saúde (93,2%, n=648), não denunciou (93,9%, n=653) nem buscou apoio de familiares ou amigos (86,5%, n=601). A maior prevalência de violência sexual foi associada à falta de moradia (razão de prevalência ajustada — RPa=1,69, IC 95% 1,01-2,84), histórico de envolvimento em trabalho sexual (RPa=2,04, IC 95% 1,46-2,85), relato de saúde emocional regular, ruim ou muito ruim (RPa=1,67, IC 95% 1,28-2,19) e experiência de dificuldades de acesso aos serviços de saúde (RPa=2,78, IC 95% 1,74-4,43). ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE The transgender population in Brazil faces marginalization and difficulties in accessing education and health, leading many individuals to self-medicate. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of the implementation of Specialized Centers in the Transsexualizing Process (SCTP) on the use of cross-sex hormone therapy (CSHT) without medical prescription, as well as the level of education and mental health profile of these individuals. METHODS This is a cross-sectional study with data from physical and electronic medical records between September 2017 and February 2023 regarding the use of CSHT before and after the implementation of two SCTP in the state of Bahia, Brazil, in addition to data on education level, previous diagnosis of anxiety and depression of patients. RESULTS A total of 219 participants, 127 transgender men (TM) and 92 transgender women and travestis (TrTW), were assessed. A significant reduction in the prevalence of self-medication was observed in both TrTW (92.98% before and 51.43% after, p<0.001), and TM (47.17% before and 25.67% after, p = 0.010) with the implementation of SCTP. Transgender individuals who used CSHT before accessing the service were found to have a lower prevalence of depression. Self-medication was not significantly associated with education or anxiety in our sample. CONCLUSION The results indicate the need for the expansion of SCTP, as they were associated with lower rates of self-medication in the transgender population.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: The prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) has increased in the recent decades, along with the number of patients in the terminal stages of this disease, requiring transplantation. Some skin disorders are more frequent in patients with CKD and in renal transplant recipients (RTR). OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the frequency of skin diseases in RTR and patients with CKD receiving conservative treatment. DESIGN AND SETTING: This observational cross-sectional study recruited consecutive patients with CKD and RTR from a nephrology clinic at a teaching hospital in Brazil between 2015 and 2020. METHODS: Quantitative, descriptive, and analytical approaches were used. The sample was selected based on convenience sampling. Data were collected from dermatological visits and participants’ medical records. RESULTS: Overall, 308 participants were included: 206 RTR (66.9%, median age: 48 years, interquartile range [IQR] 38.0–56.0, 63.6% men) and 102 patients with CKD (33.1%, median age: 61.0 years, IQR 50.0–71.2, 48% men). The frequency of infectious skin diseases (39.3% vs. 21.6% P = 0.002) were higher in RTR than in patients with CKD. Neoplastic skin lesions were present in nine (4.4%) RTR and in only one (1.0%) patient with CKD. Among the RTR, the ratio of basal cell carcinoma to squamous cell carcinoma was 2:1. CONCLUSIONS: This study revealed that an increased frequency of infectious skin diseases may be expected in patients who have undergone kidney transplantation. Objetivo: identificar os fatores associados à adesão da vacina contra a covid-19 no período gestacional. Método: estudo transversal e analítico com 348 puérperas em alojamentos conjuntos das Maternidades Municipais de Recife-PE. Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas durante os meses de junho a setembro de 2022. Aplicou-se para a análise estatística o teste Qui-Quadrado de Pearson ou Exato de Fisher e o modelo de regressão de Poisson. Resultados: 17,2% das gestantes aderiram ao esquema completo de vacinação, e a adesão estava associada ao acesso à internet/TV/rádio (p-valor = 0,011), à vacinação de rotina no pré-natal (p-valor = 0,019), à segurança da eficácia da vacina contra a covid-19 e ao apoio do companheiro/parceria (p-valor = 0,020). As puérperas sem acesso à internet/TV/rádio, e que se sentem seguras com relação à eficácia da vacina, apresentaram maiores prevalências para adesão à vacinação da COVID-19, com RP de 2,56 e 3,25, respectivamente. Conclusão: evidenciou-se uma baixa adesão ao esquema vacinal contra a covid-19 no período gestacional, considerando-se o número de doses recomendadas e o intervalo entre as mesmas. Objective: to identify factors associated with adherence to the COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy. Method: cross-sectional and analytical study with 348 postpartum women in shared accommodation at the Municipal Maternities of Recife-PE. Data was collected through interviews during the months of June to September 2022. Pearson’s Chi-Square or Fisher’s Exact tests and the Poisson regression model were applied for statistical analysis. Results: 17.2% of pregnant women adhered to the complete vaccination schedule, and adherence was associated with access to the internet/TV/radio (p-value = 0.011), routine prenatal vaccination (p-value = 0.019), safety of the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine and partner support (p-value = 0.020). Postpartum women without access to the internet/TV/radio, and who feel confident about the effectiveness of the vaccine, had higher prevalence rates for adhering to COVID-19 vaccination, with PRs of 2.56 and 3.25, respectively. Conclusion: there was evidence of low adherence to the vaccination schedule against COVID-19 during the gestational period, considering the number of recommended doses and the interval between them. Therefore, professionals in their clinical practice must make pregnant women aware of the importance of immunization and compliance with the vaccination schedule. Objetivo: identificar factores asociados con la adherencia a la vacuna contra la COVID-19 durante el embarazo. Método: estudio transversal y analítico con 348 puérperas en alojamiento compartido en Maternidades Municipales de Recife-PE. Los datos fueron recolectados por medio de entrevistas durante los meses de junio a septiembre de 2022. Para el análisis estadístico se aplicaron las pruebas Chi-Cuadrado de Pearson o Exacta de Fisher y el modelo de regresión de Poisson. Resultados: el 17,2% de las gestantes cumplió con el esquema completo de vacunación, y la adherencia se asoció con el acceso a internet/televisión/radio (p-valor = 0,011), la vacunación prenatal de rutina (p-valor = 0,019), la seguridad con relación a la eficacia de la vacuna contra la COVID-19 y el apoyo de la pareja (p-valor = 0,020). Las mujeres puérperas sin acceso a internet/televisión/radio, y que se sienten seguras de la eficacia de la vacuna, tuvieron tasas de prevalencia más altas de adherencia a la vacunación contra la COVID-19, con RP de 2,56 y 3,25, respectivamente. Resumo: A imposição do déficit hídrico na cultura da mangueira, combinada com a maturação dos ramos, permite acumular reservas essenciais à floração. Entretanto,estresses abióticos simultâneos, como temperaturas elevadas e baixa umidade, prejudicam processos fisiológicos cruciais. Alternativas têm sido buscadas para mitigartais efeitos adversos em plantas expostas a condições desfavoráveis. Nesse contexto, avaliou-se odesempenho fisiológico de mangueiras ‘Kent’ no semiárido brasileiro, tratadas comtriacontanol.O experimento foi realizado em duas safras consecutivas (2018 e 2019), emdelineamento de blocos casualisados, com cinco tratamentos e quatro repetições, sendoavaliadas quatro plantas por parcela. Abstract: Abstract: The imposition of water deficit in mango cultivation, combined with branch maturation, favors the accumulation of essential reserves for flowering. However, simultaneous abiotic stresses such as high temperatures and low humidity, disrupt crucial physiological processes. Alternatives have been sought to mitigate these adverse effects in plants exposed to unfavorable conditions. In this scenario, this study evaluated the physiological performance of ‘Kent’ mango trees in the Brazilian semiarid region treated with triacontanol. The experiment was conducted over two consecutive crop years (2018 and 2019), using a randomized block design with five treatments and four replications, by evaluating four plants per plot. The treatments consisted of five concentrations of triacontanol: 0.00 (Control), 3.75, 7.50, 11.25, and 15.0 ppb. The product containing the active ingredient triacontanol was Revigor® at a concentration of 0.05 g L-1 (50 ppm). The application of Triacontanol affects photosynthetic pigments, increases the level of total soluble carbohydrates in leaves and branches, positively influences the number of panicles and leads to productivity increases in irrigated ‘Kent’ mango trees grown in the semiarid conditions of Pernambuco, with oscillations between factors and between harvests. ABSTRACT. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of longer cutting intervals on morphogenetic and structural traits, herbage production, nutritional value, and in vitro digestibility of Guinea grass cv. Mombaça (Mombaça grass). Four cutting intervals (49, 63, 77, and 91 days) were evaluated in two crop years (2015-2016 and 2016-2017) during the rainy season, in two replicates. Cutting intervals influenced structural and morphogenetic traits, except for number of live leaves (4.35 leaves tiller-1) and final leaf length (72.94 cm) in the 2015-2016 crop year. As the cutting intervals increased, dry matter yield and stem percentage increased, whereas leaf percentage and leaf-to-stem ratio declined. Regardless of the evaluated crop year, the dry matter, acid detergent fiber, and lignin contents increased linearly; however, the neutral detergent fiber content was unaffected. Cutting intervals affected the crude protein content and in vitro digestibility. Considering leaf appearance rate, stem appearance rate, and leaf-to-stem ratio, the recommended harvest age for Mombaça grass for optimum yield and nutritional value is 77 days. Resumo Introdução: O Team-Based Learning (TBL) é uma metodologia ativa que tem se mostrado efetiva para a formação de profissionais de saúde. Em 2020, devido à pandemia da Covid-19, a aplicação do TBL migrou da modalidade presencial para online síncrona. Objetivos: Este estudo objetivou avaliar a percepção de graduandos de saúde sobre o TBL online e analisar se existe diferença de percepção dessa modalidade entre os grupos de estudantes com níveis distintos de exposição anterior às sessões presenciais e online do método, além de verificar se tal percepção pode ser afetada pelo perfil comportamental do estudante. Método: Trata-se de um estudo observacional, transversal de caráter descritivo-exploratório, comparativo, relacional, de abordagem quantitativa, realizado nos cursos de graduação em Medicina e Enfermagem, entre setembro e dezembro de 2021. Aplicou-se, virtualmente, um questionário sobre os dados sociodemográficos, além dos instrumentos Avaliação da Percepção do Aluno-Team-Based Learning (APA-TBL) e Teste de Perfil Comportamental DISC. Resultados: Dos 241 estudantes participantes, houve predominância do sexo feminino (81%), na faixa etária de 20,8 a 24,4 anos, que já tinham frequentado mais de 10 sessões de TBL presencial (90%) e TBL online (53%). Das 24 questões do APA-TBL, 17 obtiveram índice igual ou superior a 75% na soma das respostas “concordo totalmente”/“concordo”, valores considerados como percepção positiva neste estudo. Os alunos com exposição a mais de 10 sessões do TBL online apresentaram uma percepção significativamente mais negativa em três das quatro dimensões do APA-TBL, quando comparados aos menos expostos. O grupo que havia participado de mais de 10 sessões de TBL presencial apresentou uma percepção significativamente mais negativa em apenas uma dimensão do instrumento, quando comparados aos menos expostos. O principal fator DISC encontrado entre os perfis comportamentais dos participantes foi a estabilidade (“S”). Não houve correlação entre o perfil comportamental do aluno e sua percepção sobre o método na versão online. Conclusões: Observou-se uma percepção favorável dos graduandos de saúde sobre o TBL online. A exposição anterior prolongada ao método, tanto no modo online, quanto presencial, impactou negativamente a percepção dos estudantes sobre o TBL online. Abstract Introduction: Team-Based Learning (TBL) is an active methodology that has shown to be effective for the training of health professionals. In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, TBL utilization migrated from the in-person to the synchronous online mode. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the perception of health undergraduate students about online TBL and to analyze whether there is a difference regarding this perception between groups of students with different levels of exposure prior to in-person and online sessions of the teaching method, in addition to verifying whether such perception can be affected by the student’s behavioral profile. Method: This is an observational, cross-sectional, descriptive-exploratory level II comparative study with a quantitative approach, carried out in undergraduate Nursing and Medicine courses between September and December 2021. A questionnaire on sociodemographic data was applied virtually, in addition to the Assessment of Student Perception-Team-Based Learning (ASP-TBL) and the DISC Personality Test instruments. Results: Of the 241 participating students, most were females (81%), aged between 20.8 and 24.4 years, who had already attended more than 10 sessions of in-person TBL (90%) and online TBL (53%). Of the 24 ASP-TBL questions, 17 obtained an index equal to or greater than 75% in the sum of the answers “I totally agree”/“I agree”, values considered as a positive perception in this study. Students exposed to more than 10 online TBL sessions had a significantly more negative perception in three of the four dimensions of the ASP-TBL, when compared to less exposed students. The group that had participated in more than 10 in-person TBL sessions had a significantly more negative perception in only one dimension of the instrument, when compared to the less exposed ones. The main DISC Personality test factor found among the participants’ behavioral profiles was submission (“S”). There was no correlation between the student’s behavioral profile and their perception of the method in the online version. Conclusions: There was a favorable perception of health undergraduate students regarding online TBL. Previous prolonged exposure to the method, both online and in-person, represented a significant difference in the students’ perception of online TBL. There was no evidence of the influence of the student’s behavioral profile on their perception of the teaching method.
