Abstract To date, hydroxyurea is the only effective and safe drug that significantly reduces morbidity and mortality of individuals with Sickle cell disease. Twenty years of real-life experience has demonstrated that hydroxyurea reduces pain attacks, vaso-occlusive events, including acute chest syndrome, the number and duration of hospitalizations and the need for transfusion. The therapeutic success of hydroxyurea is directly linked to access to the drug, the dose used and adherence to treatment which, in part, is correlated to the availability of hydroxyurea. Resumo Introdução A partir da Residência Multiprofissional em Saúde (RMS) ocorre uma capacitação profissional mais direcionada para o Sistema Único de Saúde, visando a reorientação das lógicas tecnoassistenciais e contribuindo de forma significativa para a inserção e consolidação da fisioterapia na Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS). Objetivo Compreender a percepção dos profissionais e gestores de saúde sobre as contribuições da RMS para a inserção da fisioterapia na APS. Métodos Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo fundamentado na hermenêutica, desenvolvido no município de Aracati, Ceará, Brasil, com 15 profissionais por conveniência. A elegibilidade dos participantes centrou-se em profissionais de nível superior da APS em área urbana. A coleta de dados aconteceu de março a junho de 2023, através de uma entrevista semiestruturada elaborada pelos pesquisadores. A análise de dados ocorreu com base na leitura do material, organização em temáticas e interpretação por profundidade. Resultados O primeiro contato com a fisioterapia acontece em cenários que envolvem desde a consulta individual e compartilhada a programas de saúde na escola, cujas ações são otimizadas pela APS a partir da residência. As estratégias de cuidado da fisioterapia são inúmeras, principalmente ações centradas nos aspectos biopsicossociais. A inserção da fisioterapia na promoção da saúde é revelada pela inclusão do profissional em grupos de promoção da saúde. Abstract Introduction Multiprofessional residency in health (MHS) is a professional training program focussed on Brazil’s Unified Health System that aims to reorient techno-assistance logics and significantly contributes to the insertion and consolidation of physical therapy into primary health care (PHC). Objective To understand the perceptions of health professionals and managers about the contributions of the MRH to the insertion of physical therapy into PHC. Methods This qualitative study was based on hermeneutics and was conducted in the municipality of Aracati, Ceará, Brazil, with 15 professionals making up a convenience sample. Eligible were PHC professionals with higher education working in urban areas. The data were collected from March to June 2023 through semistructured interviews with the researchers. The data analysis was based on reading the material, organizing it into themes, and interpreting these in depth. Results The first contact with physical therapy occurs in scenarios that range from individual and shared consultations to health programs at school, whose actions are optimized by PHC from the MHS. There are numerous physical therapy care strategies, especially actions focussed on biopsychosocial aspects. The involvement of physical therapists in health promotion is revealed by the inclusion of professionals in health promotion groups. RESUMO Objetivo: realizar a adaptação linguística, cultural e validação da Scale for the Environment Evaluation of Professional Nursing Practice (SEE - Nursing Practice) para o Brasil. Método: estudo metodológico utilizando uma amostra de 291 enfermeiros, atuantes em oito hospitais brasileiros. A coleta de dados ocorreu no período de julho a outubro de 2021. A consistência interna do instrumento foi avaliada pelo coeficiente alfa de Cronbach e a validade da estruturação da escala por domínios foi avaliada pela Análise Factorial Exploratória com extração por componentes principais e rotação Varimax e medidas de adequação e de esfericidade. Resultados: na subescala da dimensão Estrutura uma solução de 6 fatores explicou 63,1% da variância total, ficando constituída por 40 itens, distribuídos em seis fatores. Na subescala da dimensão Processo, a análise factorial exploratória de cinco fatores, explicou 62% da variância total e ficou constituída por 33 itens. ABSTRACT Objective: to perform the linguistic, cultural and validation adaptation of Scale for the Environment Evaluation of Professional Nursing Practice (SEE - Nursing Practice) for Brazil. Method: a methodological study with a sample of 291 nurses working in eight Brazilian hospitals. Data collection occurred from July to October 2021. Internal consistency of the instrument was evaluated by means of the Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and validity of the structure of the scale by domains was evaluated via exploratory factor analysis with extraction by principal components and Varimax rotation, as well as adequacy and measureability measures. Results: in the subscale of the Structure dimension, a 6-factor solution explained 63.1% of the total variance, consisting of 40 items, distributed in six factors. In the subscale of the Process dimension, the exploratory five-factor analysis explained 62% of the total variance and consisted of 33 items. The exploratory factor analysis of the Outcome dimension subscale indicated a two-factor solution that explained 67.7% of the total variance and consisted of 13 items. RESUMO Objetivo: As cidades inteligentes estão emergindo como um tópico de pesquisa científica em rápido crescimento; grande parte do conhecimento gerado é principalmente de natureza tecnológica O objetivo desta pesquisa foi identificar como os artigos científicos que abordam o tema cidades inteligentes sob a ótica da inovação e tecnologia. Desenho/metodologia/abordagem: O procedimento metodológico consistiu em uma revisão sistemática da literatura; o processo foi realizado em três etapas principais: planejamento, revisão e relatório/divulgação. O período temporal estabelecido para as buscas foi de 2006 a 2021, utilizando as bases de dados: Emerald Insight, Scielo, Scopus e Web of Science, sendo utilizada a ferramenta Mendeley para filtrar os artigos dentro do tema. Resultados: Após criteriosa seleção, foram encontrados 349 estudos, com base no objetivo e relevância desta pesquisa. Em relação às bases de dados Emerald Insight apresentam 91 artigos, Web of Science 83 artigos, Scopus 101 artigos e Scielo 74 artigos. ABSTRACT Purpose: Smart cities are emerging as a fast-growing scientific research topic; much of the knowledge generated is particularly of a technological nature. The objective of this research was to identify how the articles approach the theme of smart cities from the perspective of innovation and technology. Design/methodology/approach: The methodological procedure consisted of a systematic review of the literature; the process was carried out in three main stages: planning, reviewing, and reporting/disclosure. The period established for searches was from 2006 to 2021, using the databases: Emerald Insight, Scielo, Scopus, and Web of Science, and the Mendeley tool was used to filter articles within the theme. Findings: After careful selection, 349 studies were found, based on the objective and relevance of this research. Regarding the databases, Emerald Insight presents 91 articles, Web of Science 83 articles, Scopus 101 articles, and Scielo 74 articles. SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: The objective was to analyze the implementation and use of the electronic patient record in the health services of the Brazilian Air Force. METHODS: This is a cross-sectional study carried out with 234 physicians, between March and May 2021. The data collection instrument was sent by email. The electronic patient record was implemented in the Air Force approximately 3 years ago (64.5%), and about 81% of the physicians received training to operate it. RESULTS: The most common records involve data related to consultations (90.1%) and interviews with physical examination (67.1%). Physicians cited that information storage (75.6%), agility, and feasibility of recording (55.1%) were the main advantages of the electronic patient record. As disadvantages, problems in electronic equipment (69.7%) and system errors (65%) were reported. Most participants considered that the implementation had a positive impact on work dynamics (75.6%) and productivity (66.7%), mainly regarding the components "Work processes" (57.3%) and "Amount of carried out activities" (21.4%). Keeping records was significantly associated with the job position (p<0.001), type of unit (p=0.008), time of implementation (p<0.001), and participation in training (p=0.028). CONCLUSION: The implementation of the electronic patient record in the Air Force was recently done, and just over half of the physicians were trained prior to the implementation. The tool is considered compatible with work processes and has a positive effect on productivity. RESUMO Este é um artigo analítico que se enquadra em uma disputa específica e controversa enfrentada pelos estudiosos do Inglês como Língua Franca (ILF) que ainda reverbera em estudos no campo da Linguística Aplicada. O ILF, como área, foi questionado durante seu desenvolvimento e suas maiores críticas parecem derivar de uma postura marxista. Nesse cenário, a partir de quatro artigos que retratam os ataques e defesas publicados na revista Applied Linguistics entre os anos de 2014 e 2015, este trabalho objetiva analisar essas publicações, elucidando alguns de seus pontos de divergência para, posteriormente, apresentar uma compreensão sobre ILF superada por uma postura epistemológica marxista, com potencial de responder algumas das críticas que O’Regan dirige ao campo. ABSTRACT This is an analytical paper that fits within a specific and controversial dispute faced by English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) scholars, which still reverberates in studies, within the field of Applied Linguistics. The ELF field has been questioned during its development; the fiercest criticisms seem to have derived from a Marxist stance. In this scenario, departing from four significant articles depicting the ‘attacks and defenses’ published in the Applied Linguistics journal between the years of 2014 and 2015, this paper aims to analyze these publications elucidating some of the points of disagreement that the authors present to subsequently put forward a different understanding on ELF, one sublated by a Marxist epistemological stance, capable of answering to some of O’Regan’s criticisms addressed towards this field. Abstract Phenolic compounds are frequently found in the specific tissues in the leaves and stems of Baccharis species. However, only a few species of the genus have been studied in recent years, including B. erioclada. This study evaluates the in vitro antioxidant potential of B. erioclada crude extract and its fractions. Phytochemical studies, including quantification of total phenolics and flavonoids have also been carried out. Crude extract presented higher antioxidant capacity since it showed lower values of IC50 or greater reductive capacity compared to the fractions. The total phenolic compounds and flavonoids in the crude extract were quantified as 160.66 mg/g and 47.98 mg/g, respectively. Hispidulin showed 27,2296 g/100 g of dried extract. Abstract The chemically complex essential oils of Baccharis species are associated with several biological activities, such as antimicrobial and antiulcerous properties. However, few studies have investigated Baccharis erioclada DC. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to characterize the essential oil of B. erioclada and evaluate its antioxidant, antimicrobial, and hemolytic potential. The essential oil was extracted by hydrodistillation using a Clevenger apparatus and analyzed via gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Phosphomolybdenum complex formation, reducing antioxidant power, and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) methods were used to determine antioxidant potential. To evaluate the essential oil’s antimicrobial activity, minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) in Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Candida albicans were calculated. Hemolytic activity was determined in sheep red blood cells. Thirty-one compounds were identified via GC-MS analysis, representing 81.60% of the total essential oil. These compounds included: turmerone (27.97%), fokienol (13.47%), ledol (9.78%), and santalol (5.35%). The class of compounds identified was the oxygenated sesquiterpenes (62.52%). Antioxidant activity was confirmed via phosphomolybdenum complex formation and TBARS methods. Moderate antimicrobial activity and low hemolysis rates were displayed at concentrations of 250 and 500 μg/mL.

Método Estudo observacional, descritivo e transversal, realizado com 189 profissionais de enfermagem de uma maternidade de referência, em Fortaleza-Ceará. A coleta de dados ocorreu durante três meses − de agosto a outubro de 2020 −, e utilizou-se Formulário Sociodemográfico e Clínico e Escala Hospitalar de Ansiedade e Depressão. Os fatores relacionados para depressão ou ansiedade foram determinados pela análise bivariada, por meio do teste qui-quadrado (nominais) e Wilcoxon (numéricas), com significância de p<0,05. Resultados Estimou-se a prevalência de sintomatologia ansiosa e depressiva em 58,3% e 29,6% dos participantes, respectivamente. Cerca de 53,5% foram afastados por suspeita de COVID-19 e 58%, infectados pelo vírus. Observou-se que os profissionais que atuavam na emergência, clínica obstétrica e Unidade de Terapia Intensiva materna foram os mais expostos ao risco de ter depressão (p=0,01055). Conclusão e implicações para a prática Alta prevalência de sintomas de ansiedade e depressão entre os participantes, independentemente de estarem na linha de frente da pandemia ou não. A situação requer acolhimento às demandas da saúde mental.

ABSTRACT Objective To estimate the prevalence of anxiety and depression symptoms and their related factors among nursing professionals in a maternity hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method Observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study carried out with 189 nursing professionals from a reference maternity hospital in Fortaleza-Ceará. Data collection took place over three months, from August to October 2020, using the Sociodemographic and Clinical Form and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. Factors related to depression or anxiety were determined by bivariate analysis using the chi-square (nominal) and Wilcoxon (numerical) tests, with a significance of p<0.05. Results The prevalence of anxious and depressive symptoms was estimated in 58.3% and 29.6% of the participants, respectively. About 53.5% were removed due to suspected COVID-19 and 58% were infected with the virus. It was observed that professionals who worked in the emergency, obstetric clinic and maternal Intensive Care Unit were the most exposed to the risk of having depression (p=0.01055). Conclusion and implications for practice High prevalence of anxiety and depression symptoms among participants, regardless of whether they are on the front lines of the pandemic or not. The situation requires meeting the demands of mental health.

La situación requiere atender las demandas de salud mental.

Resumo Constatou-se a necessidade de conhecer as espécies que foram selecionadas e classificadas da sociobiodiversidade com valor alimentício listadas na Portaria Interministerial n° 284/2018. Objetivou-se com esse estudo detectar as alterações em relação à portaria anteriormente publicada, bem como analisar a atual lista de espécies da sociobiodiversidade quanto ao número de espécies, origem, distribuição, ao risco de extinção e às partes da planta usadas. Para isso teve-se como ponto de partida as informações que constam na lista das espécies publicada pelas Portarias Interministerial n° 163/2016 e n° 284/2018 e consulta a documentos técnicos, bibliografias e ao Herbário Virtual da Flora e Funga do Brasil. Em relação à lista anterior, ocorreu a exclusão de seis espécies e um acréscimo de 25 espécies. A atual lista contém 101 espécies. Embora a maioria das espécies listadas são nativas, há também sete exóticas: uma cultivada e seis naturalizadas. A diversidade está bem representada nos domínios fitogeográficos brasileiros, principalmente no Cerrado, na Mata Atlântica e na Floresta Amazônica, entretanto cinco espécies se enquadraram em alguma das categorias de ameaçadas de extinção. Verificou-se que doze partes da planta utilizadas para consumo foram citadas para fins alimentícios, contudo houve um predomínio sobre os frutos.

Abstract It is necessary understanding the species selected and classified based on sociobiodiversity with food value listed in Interministerial Ordinance n. 284/2018. The aim of the study is to investigate changes in the previously published ordinance and to analyze the current list of sociobiodiversity species based on aspects such as number of species, origin, distribution, species endangerment and plant parts used for consumption. Information available in the list of species published through Interministerial Ordinances n. 163/2016 and n. 284/2018, in technical documents, bibliographies and in the Virtual Herbarium of Flora e Funga do Brasil, were used as the starting point for the present research. It was possible observing that the current list has excluded six species and added 25 species in comparison to the previous one. Thus, the current list comprises 101 species. Although most of the listed species are native to Brazil, seven of them are exotic: one is cultivated for dietary purposes and six are naturalized. Diversity is well represented in Brazilian phytogeographic domains, mainly in Cerrado, Atlantic Rainforest and Amazon Rainforest biomes; however, five species fall into one of the endangered categories. Twelve plant parts used for consumption were reported to be used for dietary purposes, with emphasis of fruit.

Objective: to analyze the evidence available in the literature about the lowest necessary dose of heparin to maintain the patency of the totally implanted central venous catheter in adult cancer patients. Method: an integrative literature review, carried out in the following databases: Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências de Saúde, Sciverse Scopus, Web of Science, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, including thirteen studies. Results: the evidence showed that the dose of heparin (300 IU/ml) is the most used in maintaining the patency of the totally implanted central venous catheter. Conclusion: according to the selected studies, the lowest dose of heparin found in maintaining the patency of the totally implanted central venous catheter in cancer patients was 10 UN/ml with a volume of 5 ml of the heparin solution.

Método: revisión integradora de la literatura realizada en las siguientes bases de datos: Literatura Latinoamericana y del Caribe en Ciencias de la Salud, Sciverse Scopus, Web of Science, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, con la inclusión de trece estudios. Resultados: las pruebas demostraron que la dosis de heparina (300 UI/ml) es la más utilizada para mantener la permeabilidad del catéter venoso central totalmente implantado. Conclusión: según los estudios seleccionados, la dosis más baja de heparina encontrada en el mantenimiento de la permeabilidad del catéter venoso central totalmente implantado en pacientes oncológicos fue de 10 UN/ml con un volumen de 5 ml de solución de heparina.

Abstract This study aimed to investigate the anatomy and histochemistry of Mollinedia clavigera leaves and stems through photonic microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Noteworthy features of leaves were: presence of paracytic stomata on both surfaces; simple as well as bifurcate non-glandular trichomes; prismatic calcium oxalate crystals; flat-convex midrib with a central and two dorsal bundles; concave-convex petiole with a single vascular bundle in open archh. Stems were cylindrical and showed prismatic and styloid crystals in the pith. Histochemical analysis detected lipophilic and phenolic compounds, starch grains and lignified elements such as brachysclereids and fibers. These features may assist in future identifications and quality control of M. clavigera, avoid misidentification between other genus members, once species and genus studies are scarce.

Resumo Objetivo: Estimar a prevalência de diagnóstico médico de câncer em idosos, descrever os tipos de câncer, as limitações em atividades cotidianas, autopercepção da saúde e a relação com doenças/condições crônicas. Métodos: Estudo transversal de base populacional com dados de idosos (n=11.177) que participaram da Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde (PNS/2013). Estimaram-se as prevalências e os respectivos intervalos de confiança de 95%. Resultados: A média de idade foi de 69,8 anos (IC95%:69,5-70,1) e 56,4% (IC95%:54,8-58,0) eram mulheres. O diagnóstico de câncer foi referido por 5,6% (IC95%:5,0-6,4) dos idosos, sendo maior entre homens (7,1%) que em mulheres (4,7%; p<0,001). Os três principais tipos de câncer foram, nos homens: próstata (52,4%;IC95%:43,5-61,2), pele (13,9%;IC95%:9,1-20,6) e intestino (10,6%;IC95%:4,9-21,5); nas mulheres: mama (46,9%;IC95%:40,6-53,3), pele (17,3%;IC95%:14,2-20,8) e intestino (9,8%;IC95%:6,5-14,5). Cerca de 67% foram diagnosticados após os 60 anos, 33,0% referiram limitação decorrente da doença e 16,8% (IC95%:12,4-22,4) autoavaliaram sua saúde como ruim/muito ruim. A presença de limitação foi cerca de 31% maior naqueles com diagnóstico mais recente e a autopercepção da saúde foi pior naqueles com diagnóstico inferior a 5 anos. Nos idosos com câncer, observaram-se maiores prevalências de hipertensão arterial, doenças do coração, depressão e doenças respiratórias crônicas (p<0,05). Conclusão: Os achados mostram a prevalência de câncer nos idosos brasileiros, com diferenças entre os sexos, bem como a distribuição dos principais tipos e a idade do primeiro diagnóstico. Destaca-se a importância da hipertensão arterial, doenças do coração, depressão e doenças respiratórias, além de outras condições de vida e saúde dos idosos no cuidado oncogeriátrico.

Abstract Objective: Estimate the prevalence of medical diagnosis of cancer in the elderly, describe the types of cancer, limitations in daily activities, health self-assessment, and the relationship between cancer and chronic diseases/conditions. Methods: Cross-sectional population-based study using data from the elderly (n=11,177) who participated in the National Health Survey (PNS/2013). Prevalence and 95% confidence intervals were estimated. Results: The mean age was 69.8 years (CI95%:69.5-70.1) and 56.4% (CI95%:54.8-58.0) were women. The diagnosis of cancer was mentioned by 5.6% (CI95%:5.0-6.4) of the elderly, is higher for men (7.1%) than in woman (4.7%; p<0.001). The three main types of cancer were, in men: prostate (52.4%; CI95%:43.5-61.2), skin (13.9%; CI95%:9.1-20.6) and intestine (10.6%; CI95%:4.9-21.5); in women: breast (46.9%; CI95%:40.6-53.3), skin (17.3%; CI95%:14.2-20.8) and intestine (9.8%; CI95%:6.5-14.5). About 67% were diagnosed after age 60, 33.0% reported some limitations due to the disease and 16.8% (CI95%:12.4-22.4) rated their health as bad/very bad. The presence of limitation was about 31% higher in those with a more recent diagnosis and self-perceived health was worse in those with a diagnosis of fewer than 5 years. In the elderly with cancer, there was a higher prevalence of hypertension, heart disease, depression, and chronic respiratory diseases (p<0.05). Conclusion: The findings show the prevalence of cancer in the Brazilian elderly, with differences between genders, and the distribution of the main types and the age of the first diagnosis. The importance of hypertension, heart disease, depression, and respiratory diseases is highlighted, as well as other living and health conditions of the elderly in oncogeriatric care.
