RESUMEN Objetivo Analizar la asociación entre discapacidad visual, auditiva, mental/intelectual, física y discapacidad múltiple con condiciones y conductas de riesgo para la salud en Brasil. Métodos Estudio transversal utilizando datos de la Encuesta Nacional de Salud de 2019; se estimaron, mediante regresión logística, las asociaciones entre discapacidad con la presencia de enfermedades cardiovasculares (ECV), hipertensión, diabetes, colesterol alto, consumo de alcohol y tabaquismo, obtención del odds ratio (OR). Resultados De los 90.846 participantes, el 7,6% refirió discapacidad. Tener una discapacidad se asoció con una mayor probabilidad de reportar enfermedades crónicas, especialmente ECV (OR = 2,11; IC95% 1,76;2,54) y diabetes (OR = 1,78; IC95% 1,56;2,02); la discapacidad visual se asoció con una mayor probabilidad de fumar (OR = 1,52; IC95% 1,28;1,81); la discapacidad mental/intelectual mostró una relación inversa con el tabaquismo (OR = 0,45; IC95% 0,30;0,67) y el consumo de alcohol (OR = 0,13; IC95% 0,06;0,26). Conclusión Se observó que tener alguna de las discapacidades estudiadas puede estar asociado con mayores posibilidades de tener condiciones crónicas de salud.

RESUMO Objetivo Analisar a associação de deficiências visual, auditiva, mental/intelectual, física e deficiência múltipla com as condições e comportamentos de risco à saúde no Brasil. Métodos Estudo transversal, utilizando-se dados da Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde de 2019; associações entre deficiências e presença de doença cardiovascular (DCV), hipertensão arterial, diabetes mellitus (DM), colesterol alto, consumo abusivo de álcool e tabagismo foram estimados por regressão logística, obtendo-se a razão de chances (RC). Resultados Dos 90.846 participantes, 7,6% reportaram deficiência. Ter deficiência associou-se a maiores chances de relatar condições crônicas, especialmente DCV (RC = 2,11; IC95% 1,76;2,54) e DM (RC = 1,78; IC95% 1,56;2,02); deficiência visual associou-se a maior chance de tabagismo (RC = 1,52; IC95% 1,28;1,81); deficiência mental/intelectual apresentou relação inversa com tabagismo (RC = 0,45; IC95% 0,30;0,67) e consumo abusivo de álcool (RC = 0,13; IC95% 0,06;0,26). Conclusão Apresentar alguma das deficiências estudadas pode-se associar a maiores chances de ter condições crônicas de saúde.

ABSTRACT Objective To analyze association of visual, hearing, mental/intellectual, physical and multiple impairments with health conditions and health risk behaviors in Brazil. Methods This was a cross-sectional study, using data from the 2019 National Health Survey; associations between impairments and presence of cardiovascular disease (CVD), hypertension, diabetes mellitus (DM), high cholesterol, alcohol abuse and smoking were estimated using logistic regression, thus obtaining the odds ratios (OR). Results Impairment was reported by 7.6% of the 90,846 participants. Having a impairment was associated with greater odds of reporting chronic conditions, especially CVD (OR = 2.11; 95%CI 1.76;2.54) and DM (OR = 1.78; 95%CI 1.56;2.02 ); visual impairment was associated with greater odds of smoking (OR = 1.52; 95%CI 1.28;1.81); mental/intellectual impairment was inversely related to smoking (OR = 0.45; 95%CI 0.30;0.67) and alcohol abuse (OR = 0.13; 95%CI 0.06;0.26). Conclusion Having any of the impairments studied may be associated with greater odds of having chronic health conditions.

Abstract INTRODUCTION: Newborn who had Zika vírus but did not show microcephaly at birth may have neuropsychomotor development problems. We aimed to evaluate the developmental and anthropometric milestones of asymptomatic children whose mothers had Zika during pregnancy in Northeastern Brazil in 2015 and 2016. METHODS: We conducted a descriptive cross-sectional case series study of children in Fortaleza born without microcephaly whose mothers had Zika during pregnancy. Home visits were undertaken to evaluate the developmental milestones and gather anthropometric data of the children and to conduct semi-structured interviews with the mothers to identify their socioeconomic and gestational profiles and assess the newborns after birth. RESULTS: In total, 30 cases were identified. Of these, 17 children and their mothers participated in the study. The median age of the mothers at the time of delivery was 26 years. All were symptomatic, and TORCH was negative. At the time of the home visit, all had growth profiles suitable for their age. However, nearly all children (15/17, 88.2%) presented at least one developmental delay, considering their age group. CONCLUSIONS: There were late changes in the neuropsychomotor development of children born to mothers who had Zika during pregnancy, suggesting the need for specialized medical follow-ups.

RESUMO Introdução Há um aumento no consumo de drogas entre os jovens no Brasil. Esse consumo se destaca entre os estudantes universitários, acarretando uma preocupação adicional quando associado aos estudantes da área da saúde. Objetivo Identificar os fatores associados à manutenção do vício de fumar e do consumo de álcool entre acadêmicos de Medicina. Métodos Trata-se de um estudo analítico, de prevalência, envolvendo estudantes de Medicina das quatro escolas médicas da cidade de Fortaleza, Nordeste do Brasil. Foi aplicado um questionário semiestruturado, contendo 46 perguntas objetivas, aos estudantes que cursavam o primeiro ano (S1/S2) durante o ano de 2012 e novamente em 2016, quando esses mesmos estudantes se encontravam no internato (I3/I4). A amostra foi calculada considerando como população do estudo o número máximo de alunos nos dois períodos avaliados.O projeto foi aprovado pelo CEP, por meio do Parecer nº020/2012. Resultados Foram entrevistados 360 estudantes no primeiro momento da pesquisa e 354 estudantes no segundo momento. O consumo de tabaco passou de 17,4% durante o primeiro ano do curso para 28,2% durante o internato (p<0,001). O mesmo ocorreu com o consumo de álcool, que já era elevado no início do curso (84,6%) e aumentou para 92,6% (p<0,001). No primeiro ano do curso, 40,5% dos estudantes referiram já ter se embriagado pelo menos uma vez. Durante a faculdade, esse percentual subiu para 59,5% (RP=1,66; p<0,001). Conclusão O consumo de álcool e tabaco aumentou de forma importante durante o curso de Medicina. Há necessidade de intervenções nos hábitos dos acadêmicos de Medicina com o objetivo de reduzir o consumo exagerado de álcool e a manutenção do tabagismo nesta população.

ABSTRACT Introduction Drug use among young people in Brazil is increasing, particularly among the university students, leading to additional health-related concerns for students. Objective To identify factors associated with continued smoking addiction and alcohol consumption among medical students. Methods An analytical, prevalence study was carried out involving medical students at the four medical schools of Fortaleza, northeastern Brazil. A semi-structured questionnaire with 46 objective questions was applied to students in their first year of the course (S1/S2) in 2012 and again in 2016, when these same students were taking their internship (I3/I4). The sample was calculated based on a study population consisting of all the students in the two periods evaluated. The project was approved by the REC, through opinion no. 020/2012. Results 360 students were interviewed in the first phase of the research, and 354 students in the second phase. Tobacco consumption increased from 17.4% during the first year of the course to 28.2% during the internship (p <0.001). The same occurred with alcohol consumption, which was already high at the beginning of the course (84.6%) and increased to 92.6% (p <0.001). In the first year of the course, 40.5% of the students reported having got drunk at least once. During their time at medical school, this percentage rose to 59.5% (PR = 1.66, p <0.001). Conclusion Alcohol and tobacco consumption increased significantly during medical school. There is a need for interventions in the habits of medical student, in order to reduce excessive alcohol consumption and smoking in this population.

RESUMO INTRODUÇÃO Apesar dos altos índices de depressão e ansiedade, os profissionais de saúde ainda têm dificuldades em lidar com essas enfermidades, principalmente quando envolvem os estudantes universitários e profissionais da área da saúde. OBJETIVO Estimar a prevalência e os fatores associados à depressão e ansiedade em estudantes universitários da área da saúde. MÉTODOS Foi realizado um estudo transversal analítico com alunos do primeiro ano dos cursos da saúde (Biomedicina, Enfermagem, Fisioterapia, Medicina e Odontologia) de um Centro Universitário no Ceará. Foram aplicados três questionários. O primeiro envolvia aspectos sociodemográficos; o segundo foi o Inventário de Depressão Beck (BDI) (adaptação e padronização brasileira); e o terceiro, o Inventário de Ansiedade Beck (BAI) (adaptação e padronização brasileira). Os dados foram digitados utilizando-se o software Epi-info, versão 3.5.1. e analisados no Stata 11.2. Análise bivariada foi realizada para as associações entre as variáveis por meio da Razão de Prevalência (RP), sendo calculados seus respectivos intervalos de confiança e considerados significativos aqueles que apresentaram um p < 0,05. O projeto foi aprovado pelo CEP, por meio do CAAE nº 1.132.140, de 30 de junho de 2015. RESULTADOS Responderam aos questionários 476 estudantes. Predominou o sexo feminino (71,6%), estudantes com menos de 20 anos de idade (69,3%) e solteiros (92,0%). As prevalências de depressão e ansiedade foram de 28,6% e 36,1%, respectivamente. Estudantes menos satisfeitos com o curso apresentaram chance quase quatro vezes maior de terem depressão (p < 0,001). Destacaram-se ainda fatores de risco como relacionamento familiar insatisfatório (p < 0,001), quantidade insuficiente de sono (p = 0,006) e relacionamento com amigos insatisfatório (p < 0,001). A prevalência de ansiedade esteve mais associada ao sexo feminino (p < 0,001) e entre os estudantes que apresentaram relacionamento insatisfatório com familiares (p < 0,001), amigos (p = 0,005) e colegas (p < 0,001). Apresentar insônia (p < 0,001), não fazer atividade física (p = 0,040) e maior preocupação com o futuro (p = 0,002) também apresentaram associação significativa com um quadro de ansiedade. CONCLUSÃO As prevalências de ansiedade e depressão entre os estudantes da área da saúde foram muito superiores às da população em geral, tendo os estudantes do curso de Fisioterapia apresentado o resultado mais alto.

ABSTRACT INTRODUCTION Despite the high levels of depression and anxiety, health professionals still have difficulties when dealing with these illnesses, particularly when they involve university students and professionals in the field of health. OBJECTIVE To estimate the prevalence and the factors associated with depression and anxiety among university students in the field of health. METHODS A transversal, analytical study involving students in the first year of a degree in health (biomedicine, nursing, physiotherapy, medicine and odontology) at a University Center in Ceará. Three questionnaires were applied. The first involved sociodemographic aspects, the second was the Beck Depression Inventory – BDI, and the third was the Beck Anxiety Inventory – BAI (both adapted and standardized for Brazil). The data were digitalized using the software Epi-info version 3.5.1, and analyzed in Stata 11.2. Bivariate analysis was performed for the associations between the variables by means of the Prevalence Ratio (PR), as well as their respective intervals of confidence, with a level of significance of p < 0.05. The project was approved by the REC, with CAAE number 1.132.140, of June 30, 2015. RESULTS 476 students answered the questionnaires. The female sex was prevalent (71.6%), with the majority of students under 20 years of age (69.3%), and single (92.0%). The prevalence rates for depression and anxiety were 28.6% and 36.1%, respectively. Students who were less satisfied with the course had a four times higher likelihood of having depression (p < 0.001). Risk factors were highlighted, such as unsatisfactory family relationships (p < 0.001), lack of sleep (p=0.006), and unsatisfactory relationships with friends (p < 0.001). The prevalence of anxiety was more closely associated with the female sex (p < 0.001), and with unsatisfactory relationships with family members (p < 0.001), friends (p = 0.005) and colleagues (p < 0.001). Having insomnia (p < 0.001), not doing much physical activity (p = 0.040), and a higher concern about the future (p = 0.002) also presented significant association with anxiety status. CONCLUSION The significant prevalence of anxiety and depression among students in the field of health were much higher than among the general population, with physiotherapy students having the highest result.

RESUMO Introdução O consumo de derivados de tabaco e álcool é apontado como importante causa de doenças e agravos no mundo. No Brasil, há um aumento no consumo dessas drogas entre os jovens, principalmente estudantes universitários. Objetivo Conhecer a prevalência e os fatores associados ao tabagismo e consumo de bebidas alcoólicas entre estudantes de Medicina, além do nível de conhecimento acerca das técnicas de cessação do hábito tabagista em diferentes momentos da vida acadêmica. Métodos Estudo analítico, de prevalência, envolvendo estudantes de Medicina de Fortaleza, Ceará, Brasil. Foram selecionadas todas as escolas médicas e os estudantes do primeiro ano (S1/S2), quarto ano (S7/S8) e aqueles do último ano do internato (I3/I4). A amostra foi calculada considerando uma frequência esperada de 10% de pessoas fumantes, com um erro de 3%, estimando 726 estudantes das quatro instituições. Foi aplicado um questionário estruturado, com 46 perguntas. Os dados foram analisados pelo software Stata 11.2. Resultados Foram entrevistados 1.035 estudantes, distribuídos proporcionalmente nos três períodos, 392 (37,9%) do primeiro ano (S1-S2), 319 (30,8%) do quarto ano (S7-S8) e 324 (31,3%) do internato (I3-I4). Quinhentos e cinquenta e três (53,4%) eram do sexo feminino, a maioria era solteira (993; 96,3%), nascidos em Fortaleza (748; 72,4%), residiam com os pais (896; 86,8%) e com renda familiar acima de dez salários mínimos (652; 61,8%). Ao todo, 533 (51,5%) eram alunos de instituições particulares. Do total, 254 (24,6%) já haviam fumado. Esse consumo foi significativamente maior entre o sexo masculino (p = 0,025), sem diferença em relação ao estado civil (p = 0,247) ou renda familiar (p = 0,191). Todos os acadêmicos que experimentaram alguma substância derivada do tabaco já haviam ingerido bebida alcoólica alguma vez na vida (p < 0,000). O consumo de álcool foi referido por mais de 80% dos estudantes, sendo maior entre aqueles cuja família apresentou renda superior a nove salários mínimos (p = 0,001). Houve relato de embriaguez em mais de 70% dos estudantes, tendo esse fato ocorrido antes dos 18 anos. Cerveja e vodca são as bebidas mais consumidas. Apenas 39,5% afirmaram estar aptos a aconselhar um paciente a não ingerir bebidas alcoólicas e apenas 28,4% receberam algum treinamento sobre o assunto em sua universidade. Conclusão A prevalência do consumo de álcool é muito elevada entre os estudantes de Medicina, principalmente entre aqueles que relataram fumar. Esses temas são abordados de forma incipiente em sua formação. É preciso reforçar esses aspectos na formação desses futuros profissionais de saúde.

ABSTRACT Introduction Tobacco and alcohol consumption is considered a major cause of diseases and disorders in the world. In Brazil, there has been increased consumption of these drugs among young people, especially university students. Objective To discover the prevalence of and factors associated to smoking and alcohol consumption among medical students, as well as their level of knowledge about techniques to stop smoking at different times of their academic life. Methods Analytical study of prevalence among medical students in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. The study sample included all the city’s medical schools and their first year (S1/S2) and fourth year (S7/S8) students and students in the final year of their internship (I3/I4). The sample was calculated considering an expected smoker frequency of 10%, with a 3% margin of error, estimating 726 students in the four institutions. A structured questionnaire containing 46 questions was applied. Data were analyzed using Stata 11.2 software. Results 1,035 students were interviewed, distributed proportionally in the three periods: 392 (37.87%) from the first year (S1 / S2), 319 (30.82%) from the fourth year (S7/S8) and 324 (31.30%) interns (I3/I4). 553 students (53.4%) were female; most of the students were single (993; 96.3%), born in Fortaleza (748; 72.4%), living with their parents (896; 86.8%) and with a household income of more than 10 minimum wages (652; 61.8%). In total, 533 (51.5%) were students at private institutions. Of the total, 254 (24.6%) had smoked. This consumption was significantly higher among males (p = 0.025), with no difference in relation to marital status (p = 0.247) or household income (p = 0.191). All the students who reported having experienced any tobacco derivative also reported using alcohol in their lifetime (p < 0.000). Alcohol consumption was reported by more than 80% of the students, and was higher among those whose family income was more than nine times the minimum wage (p = 0.001). Alcoholic intoxication was reported by over 70% of the students – where this had occurred before the age of 18 years. Beer and vodka are the most consumed beverages. Only 39.5% said they were inclined to advise a patient to avoid alcoholic beverages and only 28.4% had received training on the subject at their university. Conclusion The prevalence of alcohol consumption is very high among medical students, especially among those who reported smoking. These issues are addressed in a primitive manner in their training. We must strengthen these aspects in the training of future health professionals.
