Abstract The promises in the university have given way and been chained -like Prometheus- when their pretensions have been disrupted. In this paper, we seek to glimpse favorable situations for the university, appreciating its conditionings by neoliberalism and the market, its generalized challenges both from outside and inside, and its problems in building a common world in a globalized capitalism. Thus, it is intended to make visible the threats looming over the contemporary university that force us to enter what it should be, looking for its unconditionality and critical work. Otherwise, we are facing a university that no longer exists, but we imagine it and are trapped in a fable.

Resumen Las promesas situadas en la universidad han claudicado y han quedado encadenadas -como Prometeo- al trastocarse sus pretensiones. En este escrito se busca atisbar situaciones propicias para la universidad, apreciando sus condicionantes por el neoliberalismo y el mercado, sus retos generalizados tanto de afuera como de dentro, y sus problemáticas para construir un mundo común en un capitalismo globalizado. Así, se pretende visibilizar las amenazas que se ciernen sobre la universidad contemporánea que nos obligan a adentrarnos en lo que ella habría de ser, buscando su incondicionalidad y labor crítica, pues de otra forma, estamos frente a una universidad, que ya no existe, pero la imaginamos, y estamos atrapados en una fábula.

ABSTRACT. Body condition (BC) can affect the reproductive output and hatchling survival of nesting olive ridley turtles (Lepidochelys olivacea). However, little is known about the BC of nesting females during the arrival event at nesting sites. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the BC of females nesting in La Escobilla Beach Sanctuary (La Escobilla) during the 2021 nesting season. Nesting females were measured and weighed. The mean size for nesting L. olivacea was 60.41 ± 2.98 cm for straight carapace length, 52.69 ± 2.57 cm for straight carapace width, and 34.35 ± 3.94 kg for weight (n = 483). The mean (± standard deviation, SD) Fulton′s/Bjorndal BC index estimated for nesting females was 1.54 ± 0.15, while the mean (± SD) of body mass index was 2.18 ± 0.23. Based on these indexes, 28 individuals were classified as in bad condition, 315 in good condition, and 19 in excellent condition. This first estimation of the olive ridley turtle body condition in a nesting colony showed that BC is a good body condition for most nesting females in La Escobilla. This study is a valuable baseline for nesting L.olivacea's health condition.

Resumen: Introducción: El Síndrome de Sjögren (SS) es una enfermedad autoinmune de carácter sistémico, que afecta principalmente al sistema glandular exocrino, generando un funcionamiento anormal de las glándulas lacrimales y salivales. Objetivo: proporcionar una actualización sobre la identificación de nuevos biomarcadores y mecanismos moleculares implicados en la fisiopatogénesis del SS. Método: Revisión narrativa de la literatura en diferentes bases de datos, mediante la búsqueda de términos descritos incluidos en los tesauros MESH y DeCs, para artículos publicados a partir del año 2018. Resultados: presentamos evidencia que destaca la identificación de nuevos biomarcadores y mecanismos implicados en la fisiopatogénesis del SS, describiendo las vías de: linfocitos B, catepsina S, cistatina C, quimioquina C-X3-C modificada de ligando 1, quimiocina regulada por activación del timo, células T, proteína morfogenética ósea 6, estimulación del receptor de oxitocina, receptor de zinc, calponina-3. Conclusión: los avances en la tecnología facilita el análisis detallado de la genética y fisiopatogénesis del SS, impulsando el desarrollo de terapias específicas. La búsqueda de biomarcadores no invasivos responde a las limitaciones de los métodos existentes y la invasividad de las biopsias salivales, prometiendo mejoras diagnósticas y terapéuticas.

Abstract: Introduction: Sjögren's Syndrome (SS) is a systemic autoimmune disease that primarily affects the exocrine glandular system, leading to abnormal lacrimal and salivary gland function. Objective: To provide an update on identifying new biomarkers and molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of SS. Method: Narrative review of the literature in various databases, searching for terms included in the MESH and DeCs thesauri, for articles published since 2018. Results: We present evidence highlighting the identification of new biomarkers and mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of SS, describing pathways of B lymphocytes, cathepsin S, cystatin C, modified C-X3-C chemokine ligand 1, thymus activation-regulated chemokine, T cells, bone morphogenetic protein 6, oxytocin receptor stimulation, zinc receptor, and calponin-3. Conclusion: Advances in technology facilitate detailed analysis of the genetics and pathogenesis of SS, driving the development of specific therapies. The search for non-invasive biomarkers is driven by the limitations of existing methods and the invasiveness of salivary gland biopsies, promising diagnostic and therapeutic improvements.

ABSTRACT Foundation: aging is a fact that affects the entire world population, and considerably, the most developed countries, in which life expectancy has been increasing as reflected in the United Nations report. Objective: to describe the social context and functional capacity in gerontos of clinic # 8 of Health Area I of the Cienfuegos municipality during the year 2022. Method: a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out. A 30 % sample was randomly selected for a total of 131 elderly people. A structured interview was carried out, which included the general variables: age, sex, level of education, occupation, personal pathological history, support collaboration and to complete the social assessment, the Family Functioning Questionnaire was applied. Results: the age group of 60 to 65 years had the most prevalence, 45.5 % studied until they completed primary school, followed by those who completed secondary school with 29.0 %. Retirees were represented at 38.9 %, the main non-communicable diseases that prevailed were: high blood pressure, ischemic heart disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus, 40.4 % lived alone, 19.8 % had a caregiver, 14.5 % did not receive support and 9.9 % of the elderly who were in a probable state of social need. Conclusions: a well-nourished, loved, supported older adult, with all basic needs satisfied, as well as all associated diseases typical of this stage of life compensated, will have a better quality of life in any society.

RESUMEN Fundamento: el envejecimiento es un hecho que afecta a toda la población mundial, y de manera considerable, a los países más desarrollados, en los que la esperanza de vida ha ido aumentando tal y como se refleja en el informe de Naciones Unidas. Objetivo: describir el contexto social y capacidad funcional en gerontos del consultorio # 8 del Área de Salud I del municipio Cienfuegos durante el año 2022. Método: se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal. Se seleccionó aleatoriamente una muestra del 30 % para un total de 131 ancianos. Se realizó una entrevista estructurada, que recogió las variables generales: edad, sexo, nivel de escolaridad, ocupación, antecedentes patológicos personales, la colaboración de apoyo y para completar la valoración social se aplicó el Cuestionario de Funcionamiento Familiar. Resultados: el grupo de edad de 60 a 65 años tuvo más prevalencia, el 45,5 % estudió hasta la primaria terminada, seguidos de los de secundaria terminada con el 29,0 %. Los jubilados estuvieron representados en un 38,9 %, las principales enfermedades no transmisibles que prevalecieron fueron: la hipertensión arterial, la cardiopatía isquémica y la diabetes mellitus tipo 2, el 40,4 % vivía solo, el 19,8 % tenía cuidador, el 14,5 % no recibían apoyo y el 9,9 % de los ancianos que se encontraban en probable estado de necesidad social. Conclusiones: un adulto mayor bien nutrido, querido, apoyado, con todas las necesidades básicas satisfechas, así como todas las enfermedades asociadas propias de esta etapa de la vida compensadas, tendrá en cualquier sociedad una mejor calidad de vida.

Abstract The effective access to various financial products can be decisive to use efficiently the opportunities offered by the financial market. The purpose of this research is to determine the inclusion degree of financing in Mexico for 2021, so, a method used was through spatial econometrics to identify clusters at municipal level. The results showed that administrative units that have elevated levels of correlation in indicators such as: access roads, number of credit products and number of deposit accounts; have more financial inclusion in CDMX’s administrative units. On the other hand, zones with lowest levels of financial inclusion correspond to Oaxaca and Guerrero counties. The development of a financial inclusion strategy is proposed according to the needs of the identified clusters. This work innovates in presenting a cluster analysis at the municipal level for financial inclusion.

Resumen El contar con acceso efectivo a diversos productos financieros puede ser determinante para explotar de manera eficiente el área de oportunidades que brinda el mercado financiero para la sociedad. Esta investigación tiene como propósito determinar el grado de inclusión de los productos y servicios del sector financiero en México para el año 2021, para lo cual, se utiliza un método mediante econometría espacial para la identificación de clusters a nivel municipal. Los resultados revelan que los municipios que cuentan con niveles altos de correlación en indicadores como: vías de acceso, cantidad de productos de crédito y cantidad de cuentas de captación; cuentan con mayor inclusión financiera, tales como las alcaldías de la CDMX. Por otro lado, las zonas que cuentan con niveles más bajos de inclusión financiera corresponden a los municipios de las entidades federativas de Oaxaca y Guerrero. Se propone el desarrollo de una estrategia de inclusión financiera de acuerdo con las necesidades de los clusters identificados. Este trabajo innova en presentar un análisis cluster a nivel municipal para la inclusión financiera.

Resumo Introdução: A resistência muscular do corpo superior (UBME) e a capacidade aeróbica (AC) são componentes essenciais da aptidão física. Baixos níveis desses componentes estão relacionados a doenças cardiovasculares. Propósito: Avaliar a associação entre os níveis de UBME e AC em estudantes universitários de cultura física. Metodologia: Estudo transversal analítico realizado com 192 estudantes (169 homens, 23 mulheres; idade média 20 anos). Todos os participantes do estudo assinaram consentimento por escrito. UBME foi a variável dependente avaliada pelo teste de flexão de braço, e AC foi a principal variável independente avaliada pelo teste de corrida de vaivém de 20 m. Para analisar diferenças por sexo e semestre acadêmico, foram aplicados testes exatos de Fischer, t de Student e U de MannWhitney. Análises descritivas, bivariadas e multivariadas foram realizadas usando modelos de regressão logística. Resultados: 82,29 % dos participantes apresentaram níveis saudáveis de UBME. Respeitando o semestre acadêmico, os estudantes tiveram uma probabilidade maior de ter níveis saudáveis de UBME conforme os semestres aumentavam (OR: 1,23, IC 95 %: 1,06 a 1,44, p = 0,007). Em relação à AC, 58,33 % dos participantes registraram níveis saudáveis. Após ajuste por sexo, idade, nível socioeconômico e semestre acadêmico, o consumo máximo de oxigênio (VO2max) foi associado a níveis saudáveis de UBME (OR: 1,157, IC 95 %: 1,071 - 1,249, p <0,001). Conclusões: Os estudantes tiveram uma probabilidade maior de apresentar níveis saudáveis de UBME conforme os semestres de estudo aumentaram, e aqueles com um VO2max mais alto tiveram maior probabilidade de ter níveis saudáveis de UBME.

Abstract Introduction: Upper-body muscular endurance (UBME) and aerobic capacity (AC) are essential components of physical fitness. Low levels of these components are related to cardiovascular disease. Purpose: To assess the association between UBME and AC levels in college students of physical culture. Methodology: Analytical cross-sectional study carried out in 192 students (169 men, 23 women; median age 20 years). Every participant of the study signed written consent. UMBE was the dependent variable assessed by the push-up test, and AC was the main independent variable assessed using the 20 m shuttle run test. To analyze differences by sex, and academic semester, Fischer exact, Student's T, and U Mann-Whitney tests were applied. Descriptive, as well as bivariate and multivariate analysis, were realized using logistic regression models. Results: 82.29 % of participants had healthy levels of UBME. Respecting the academic semester, students had a higher probability of having healthy levels of UBME as semesters increased (OR: 1.23, 95 % CI: 1.06 to 1.44, p = 0.007). Concerning AC, 58.33 % of participants registered healthy levels. After adjusting by sex, age, socioeconomic level, and academic semester, maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max), was associated with healthy levels of UBME (OR: 1.157, CI 95 %: 1.O71 - 1.249, p=<0.001). Conclusions: Students had a higher probability of presenting healthy levels of UBME as semesters of study increased, and those with a higheVO2max were more likely to have healthy levels of UBME.

Resumen Introducción: La fuerza resistencia de miembros superiores (FRMS) y la capacidad aeróbica (CA) son componentes esenciales de la condición física. Bajos niveles de estos componentes están relacionados con la enfermedad cardiovascular. Propósito: El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la asociación entre los niveles de FRMS y la CA en estudiantes universitarios de cultura física. Metodología: Estudio transversal analítico realizado en 192 estudiantes (169 hombres, 23 mujeres; mediana de edad, 20 años). Cada participante firmó el consentimiento informado. FRMS fue la variable dependiente y se valoró con la prueba de flexiones de brazo, y la CA fue la variable independiente y se evaluó usando la prueba de ida y vuelta de 20 m. Para analizar las diferencias por sexo y semestre académico, fueron utilizadas las pruebas exacta de Fischer, T de Student y U de Mann-Whitney. Se realizaron análisis descriptivos, bivariados y múltiples, usando modelos de regresión logística. Resultados: El 82.29 % de los participantes registraron niveles saludables de FRMS. Respecto al semestre académico, se evidenció una probabilidad más alta de tener niveles saludables de FRMS al incrementarse los semestres de estudio (OR: 1.23, 95 % CI: 1.06 to 1.44, p = 0.007). En lo concerniente a la CA, el 58.33 % de los participantes registro niveles saludables. Después de realizar ajustes por sexo, edad, nivel socioeconómico y semestre académico, el consumo máximo de oxígeno (VO2máx), estuvo asociado con niveles saludables de FRMS (OR: 1.157, CI 95 % 1.O71 - 1.249, p=<0.001). Conclusiones: Los participantes presentaron una mayor probabilidad de tener niveles saludables de FRMS, a medida que incrementaron los semestres de estudio, y aquellos con niveles de VO2máx más alto, fueron más proclives a tener niveles saludables de FRMS.

Abstract The professionalization of teaching practices is a priority issue for society, since the quality of the educational service offered to students depends on it. There have been various proposals to advance in this area, for example, cascade training, courses, evaluation systems, etc. However, there is still much to do, according to (Coppola 2002) one way to professionalize the teacher is through his teaching philosophy where he expresses how he believes his students learn a subject, which implies a reflective exercise that requires accompaniment. But how the teacher learns to teach, in this research 19 teaching philosophies of primary school teachers enrolled in a master's program were analyzed to identify the learning theory in which their teaching practices were located. The methodological proposal consisted of a content analysis to code them, then analyze them from a methodical reading and interpret them from the learning theories of (Pozo, 2006). The results show that the methodological proposal allows to identify the learning theory where the teacher is, the finding is that teachers can find themselves in evolution migrating from one theory to another.

Resumen La profesionalización de las prácticas de enseñanza es un tema prioritario para la sociedad, pues de ello depende la calidad del servicio educativo que se ofrece a los alumnos. Diversas han sido las propuestas para avanzar en este terreno, por ejemplo, las capacitaciones en cascada, cursos, sistemas de evaluación, entre otros; sin embargo, aún hay mucho que hacer. De acuerdo con Coppola (2002), una forma de profesionalizar al profesor es a través de su filosofía docente en donde exprese cómo cree que sus alumnos aprenden algún tema, lo que implica un ejercicio reflexivo que requiere acompañamiento. Pero, ¿cómo aprende el profesor a enseñar? En esta investigación se analizaron 19 filosofías docentes de profesores de educación primaria inscritos en un programa de maestría, para identificar la teoría del aprendizaje en la que se ubicaban sus prácticas de enseñanza. La propuesta metodológica consistió en un análisis de contenido para codificarlas, posteriormente analizarlas desde una lectura crítica e interpretadas desde las teorías de aprendizaje de Pozo (2006). Los resultados muestran que la propuesta metodológica permite identificar la teoría del aprendizaje en donde se encuentra el profesor, el hallazgo es que los profesores pueden encontrarse en evolución migrando de una teoría a otra.

RESUMEN Introducción: la necesidad de contar con técnicas de laboratorio rápidas, sensibles y específicas para la detección de patógenos de difícil diagnóstico llevó a la creación del Laboratorio de Biología molecular en el Centro Provincial de Higiene, Epidemiología y Microbiología de Villa Clara. Objetivo: caracterizar la evolución y la importancia de la Microbiología molecular en el Laboratorio del Centro Provincial de Higiene, Epidemiología y Microbiología de Villa Clara de junio de 2018 a diciembre de 2023. Métodos: estudio descriptivo transversal realizado en el Laboratorio de Biología Molecular de Villa Clara en el período comprendido de junio de 2018 a diciembre de 2023 a partir del total de muestras procesadas por reacción en cadena de la polimerasa, se emplearon varias plataformas tecnológicas y diversos estuches comerciales. Resultados: en 2018 se implementó el diagnóstico molecular con dos plataformas, Rotor Gene-Q® y Gene Xpert® MTB/RIF, y en 2021, se dispuso de cuatro, al introducir el SLAN y la plataforma COBAS 4800®. El laboratorio adquirió relevancia por la llegada de la pandemia por el nuevo coronavirus de 2019: se procesaron 511 225 muestras de exudado nasofaríngeo y 14 568 determinaciones para el diagnóstico de los virus de inmunodeficiencia humana, de hepatitis C y B y del papiloma humano que se realizaron en la plataforma COBAS 4800®. En el año 2023 se fortaleció la capacidad de detección de patógenos y se identificó la cocirculación comunitaria de influenza A y B, del virus parainfluenza tipo 4, el coronavirus OC 43, el SARS-CoV-2 y el dengue. Conclusiones: el aumento progresivo de la capacidad resolutiva del Laboratorio de Biología molecular, junto a la implementación de nuevas plataformas diagnósticas, ha permitido fortalecer la detección de patógenos de interés clínico y perfeccionar la vigilancia centinela virológica.

ABSTRACT Introduction: the need to have rapid, sensitive and specific laboratory techniques for the detection of pathogens that are difficult to diagnose led to the creation of the Molecular Biology Laboratory at the Provincial Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology of Villa Clara. Objective: to characterize the evolution and importance of Molecular Microbiology in the Laboratory of the Provincial Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology of Villa Clara from June 2018 to December 2023. Methods: cross-sectional descriptive study carried out at the Villa Clara Molecular Biology Laboratory in the period from June 2018 to December 2023 based on the total samples processed by polymerase chain reaction, several technological platforms and various kits were used. commercial. Results: In 2018, molecular diagnosis was implemented with two platforms, Rotor Gene-Q® and Gene Xpert® MTB/RIF, and in 2021, four were available, when the SLAN and the COBAS 4800® platform were introduced. The laboratory became relevant due to the arrival of the 2019 new coronavirus pandemic: 511,225 nasopharyngeal exudate samples and 14,568 determinations were processed for the diagnosis of human immunodeficiency viruses, hepatitis C and B, and human papilloma carried out on the COBAS 4800® platform. In 2023, the pathogen detection capacity was strengthened and the community cocirculation of influenza A and B, parainfluenza virus type 4, the OC 43 coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2 and dengue was identified. Conclusions: the progressive increase in the resolution capacity of the Molecular Biology Laboratory, together with the implementation of new diagnostic platforms, has allowed us to strengthen the detection of pathogens of clinical interest and improve virological sentinel surveillance.

Abstract Objective: To identify the scientific evidence related to the influence of self-esteem on adolescent cannabis use. Materials and method: During the period of february-april 2022, an integrative review of the scientific literature published in the last ten years (2012-2022) was carried out. The sixstep methodology proposed by Toronto and Remington was used in the BVS, PubMed, TRIP and Dialnet search engines, as well as in the Redalyc, Cochrane, EBSCOhost, Web of Science and CUIDEN databases. A total of 1,491 articles were found, when applying inclusion and elimination criteria, a total of ten quantitative studies were considered in the final sample. Results: It was found that adolescents with low self-esteem are prone to influences that encourage the initiation of cannabis use. When considered as a positive attitude of the person towards himself, it favors the feeling of security and regulates behavior through a process of self-evaluation, so that it enables adolescents to adapt to their environment. In this sense, three main categories were observed: moderator variable in cannabis use; predictor variable of cannabis use; and intervention component. Conclusions: The protective and predictive role of self-esteem for cannabis use in adolescents was demonstrated, likewise, early detection and interventions aimed at improving skills for the regulation of emotions influenced by cognitive factors are effective in the promotion and prevention of cannabis use in adolescents.

Resumen Objetivo: Identificar la evidencia científica relacionada con la influencia que tiene la autoestima en el consumo de cannabis de los adolescentes. Materiales y método: Durante el periodo de febrero-abril de 2022 se realizó una revisión integrativa de la literatura científica publicada en los últimos diez años (2012-2022). Se utilizó la metodología de seis pasos propuesta por Toronto y Remington en los motores de búsqueda de la BVS, PubMed, TRIP y Dialnet, así como, en las bases de datos de Redalyc, Cochrane, EBSCOhost, Web of Science y CUIDEN. Se encontraron un total de 1,491 artículos, al aplicar criterios de inclusión y eliminación se contemplaron un total de diez estudios cuantitativos en la muestra final. Resultados: Se encontró que los adolescentes con baja autoestima están propensos a influencias que fomentan el inicio de consumo de cannabis. Al considerarse como una actitud positiva de la persona hacia sí misma, favorece el sentimiento de seguridad y regula la conducta mediante un proceso de autoevaluación, de modo que posibilita la adecuación de los adolescentes a su entorno. En este sentido se observaron tres categorías principales: variable moderadora en el consumo de cannabis; variable predictora del consumo de cannabis; y componente de intervención. Conclusiones: Se demostró el papel protector y predictivo de la autoestima para el consumo de cannabis en los adolescentes, asimismo, la detección temprana y las intervenciones dirigidas a mejorar las habilidades para la regulación de emociones influenciadas por factores cognitivos son efectivas en la promoción y prevención de consumo de cannabis en el adolescente.

ABSTRACT Introduction: COVID-19 represented a global health crisis and revealed the fragility of the interdependent relationship with nature; hence the need to train teachers from an environmentalist conception so that they have a positive impact on the health of students with behavioral disorders. Objective: to evaluate the effectiveness of a guidance manual for teachers related to environmental aspects, which can influence the health of students with behavioral disorders. Methods: a pedagogical study was carried out at the "Águedo Morales Reina" special school between September 2021 and June 2022, using document analysis, scientific observation, interviews and descriptive statistics, in a sample of five students with mental disorders. behavior with health problems, five specialists (speech therapist, educational psychologist, art instructors) and two teachers from special schools. Results: it is specified in a guidance manual for teachers that offers suggestions on environmental aspects to achieve a healthy education for students with behavioral disorders. It constitutes a resource to help overcome the diagnosis in the shortest possible time, by taking into account the positive and negative implications of the environment on the health of students with behavioral disorders. Conclusions: the guidance manual confirmed its theoretical, methodological and practical value, by confirming higher levels in the use of environmental aspects for the development of quality health in the selected students in the province of Pinar del Río.

RESUMEN Introducción: la COVID-19 representó una crisis mundial de salud y reveló la fragilidad de la relación de interdependencia con la naturaleza; de ahí la necesidad de formar desde una concepción medioambientalista al docente para que impacte positivamente en la salud de los educandos con trastornos de la conducta. Objetivo: evaluar la efectividad de un manual de orientación para docentes relacionado con aspectos medioambientales, que pueden influir en la salud de los educandos con trastornos de la conducta. Métodos: se realizó un estudio de corte pedagógico en la escuela especial "Águedo Morales Reina" entre septiembre de 2021 y junio de 2022, utilizando el análisis de documentos, la observación científica, entrevista y la estadística descriptiva, en una muestra de cinco educandos con trastornos de la conducta con problemas de salud, cinco especialistas (logopeda, psicopedagoga, instructores de arte) y dos maestros de las escuelas especiales. Resultados: se concreta en un manual de orientación para docentes que ofrece sugerencias de aspectos medioambientales para el logro de una educación saludable a los educandos con trastornos de la conducta. Constituye un recurso para contribuir a superar el diagnóstico en el menor tiempo posible, al tener en cuenta las implicaciones positivas y negativas del ambiente en la salud de los educandos con trastornos de la conducta. Conclusiones: el manual de orientación constató su valor teórico, metodológico y práctico, al confirmar niveles superiores en la utilización de aspectos medioambientales para el desarrollo de una salud con calidad en los educandos seleccionados en la provincia de Pinar del Río.

ABSTRACT Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic affected the entire population, including the health personnel, such as nurses. Nurses, by living through the disease, acquired valuable experiences that allowed them to redefine their existence as beings in the world. Objective: To understand the experiences of nurses with COVID-19 and isolated in the family environment. Methods: A qualitative-phenomenological study was conducted from the existentialist perspective of Heidegger. Thirteen nurses working in hospitals in Lima, Peru, participated during the months from October 2020 to June 2021. The sample was obtained by "theoretical saturation." In-depth interviews were conducted virtually, using guiding questions; and the testimonies were recorded and transcribed with prior authorization. For data processing, they were subjected to Braun and Clarke's thematic analysis. Results: After transcription, coding and phenomenological reduction of the discourses, two categories were obtained: 1. "Taking care of" and "Being with" in related to the isolation experience in the family environment, with the subcategories of reaction to the diagnosis and family contagion; and 2. "Being there" and distress when experiencing the disease by COVID-19, with the subcategories of life lessons and meaning of the pandemic. Conclusions: Nurses with COVID-19 and isolated at home experienced lessons that made them revalue life, health and family love, which has strengthened their commitment to providing humanized care; personal strength and hope stand out as elements that allow them to face fear, despair and fear of death. The more any subject knows themselves, the greater their caring attitude, so that caring represents a nurse’s essential way of being.

RESUMEN Introducción: La pandemia de COVID-19 afectó a toda la población, incluido el personal de salud, como las enfermeras. Estas, al vivenciar la enfermedad, adquirieron valiosas experiencias que les permitieron resignificar su existencia como seres en el mundo. Objetivo: Comprender las vivencias de las enfermeras con COVID-19 aisladas en el entorno familiar. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio cualitativo-fenomenológico desde la perspectiva existencialista de Heidegger, participaron 13 enfermeras que laboraban en hospitales de Lima-Perú; durante los meses de octubre 2020 a junio de 2021. La muestra fue por “saturación teórica”. Se aplicaron entrevistas en profundidad por vía virtual, se utilizaron preguntas orientadoras, los testimonios fueron grabados y transcritos previa autorización. Para el tratamiento de los datos, estos se sometieron al análisis temático de Braun y Clarke. Resultados: Luego de la transcripción, codificación y reducción fenomenológica de los discursos, se obtuvieron dos categorías: 1. El “cuidar de” y el “estar-con” experiencia del aislamiento en el entorno familiar, subcategorías: Reacción frente al diagnóstico y Contagio familiar. Categoría 2: El “ser ahí” y la angustia al vivenciar la enfermedad por COVID-19 Subcategorías: Lecciones de vida y Significado de la pandemia. Conclusiones: Las enfermeras con COVID-19, en aislamiento en su hogar, vivenciaron lecciones que las hicieron revalorar la vida, la salud y el amor de la familia, lo que ha fortalecido su compromiso de brindar un cuidado humanizado; se destacan la fortaleza personal y la esperanza como elementos que les permite enfrentar el temor, la desesperación y el miedo a la muerte. Entre más se conoce el sujeto a sí mismo más grande es su actitud de cuidado, por lo que el cuidado representa un modo de ser esencial de la enfermera.

Resumen El propósito de este estudio fue analizar la correlación del estrés crónico y sus síntomas psicofisiológicos como predictores del síndrome de intestino irritable en estudiantes de odontología de una universidad pública en México. El estudio fue transversal y analítico. Se evaluó una muestra representativa y aleatoria de 740 estudiantes en el año 2022. Se utilizó el Inventario de Síntomas de Estrés y los Criterios de ROMA III. El análisis fue mediante regresión múltiple. Los resultados mostraron que el estrés crónico y los síntomas físicos (resequedad en la boca e hipertensión) así como los síntomas psicológicos (sentirse atado y tendencia a asustarse con pequeños ruidos) estuvieron asociados y fueron predictores de la presencia del síndrome de intestino irritable. Se concluye que la identificación de los factores de estrés podría incidir en un diagnóstico oportuno y prevenir sus efectos nocivos a la salud y en el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation of chronic stress and its psychophysiological symptoms as predictors of irritable bowel syndrome in dental students from a public university in Mexico. The study was cross-sectional and analytical. A representative and random sample of 740 students was evaluated in 2022. The Stress Symptom Inventory and the ROME III Criteria were used. The analysis was done through multiple regression. Results showed that chronic stress and physical symptoms (dry mouth and hypertension) as well as psychological symptoms (feeling tied and tendency to be scared by small noises) were associated, and they were predictors of the presence of irritable bowel syndrome. It is concluded that the identification of stress factors could influence a timely diagnosis and prevent their harmful effects on health and on the academic performance of students.

ABSTRACT The urgent need to develop and produce safe and effective vaccines to guarantee the reduction of the spread of the type 2 coronavirus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome, led the Center for Molecular Immunology and the Finlay Vaccine Institute to develop two vaccines and one candidate vaccine to combat the 2019 coronavirus pandemic. As part of the establishment of the production process, experiments were carried out on the possible steps of the purification process of the receptor binding domain molecule (aa 319-541) with a view to its subsequent technological transfer on an industrial scale. This molecule is fused with a hexahistidine tag at its C-terminal end and has nine cysteine residues in its sequence that form four intramolecular disulfide bonds; leaving a free cysteine that allows two molecules to be obtained: dimeric and monomeric, which constitute the antigens of the SOBERANA®02 and SOBERANA®Plus vaccines and the SOBERANA 01 vaccine candidate. The best adsorption conditions of the chromatographic matrices of affinity for metal chelates, cationic exchange and molecular exclusion were determined. The performance of the process was evaluated on a pilot scale and the molecule was characterized according to its physical-chemical and biological properties. The results obtained showed a 60.02 ± 5.15% total recovery of the protein of interest with more than 98% purity in both molecules, an efficient removal of contaminants and an antigenicity greater than 90% referred to the control monomer of the domain receptor binding with 99% purity; which demonstrates that the established process is efficient in obtaining a product with the required quality.

RESUMEN La urgente necesidad de desarrollar y producir vacunas seguras y efectivas para garantizar la reducción de la propagación del coronavirus de tipo 2 causante del síndrome respiratorio agudo severo, hizo que el Centro de Inmunología Molecular y el Instituto Finlay de Vacunas, desarrollaran dos vacunas y un candidato vacunal contra la COVID-19, que tienen como componente la molécula del dominio de unión al receptor (aa 319-541) del virus. Para establecer el proceso productivo, se realizaron experimentos en los posibles pasos del proceso de purificación de la molécula del dominio de unión al receptor (aa 319-541), con vistas a su posterior transferencia tecnológica a escala industrial. Dicha molécula está fusionada con una etiqueta de hexahistidina en su extremo C-terminal y presenta nueve residuos de cisteína en su secuencia que forman cuatro enlaces disulfuros intramoleculares, quedando una cisteína libre que permite obtener dos moléculas: dimérica y monomérica, antígenos que forman parte de las vacunas SOBERANA®02 y SOBERANA®Plus y el candidato vacunal SOBERANA 01. Se determinaron las mejores condiciones de adsorción de las matrices cromatográficas de afinidad por quelatos metálicos, intercambio catiónico y exclusión molecular. Se evaluó el desempeño del proceso a escala piloto y se caracterizó la molécula de acuerdo a sus propiedades físico-químicas y biológicas. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron un 60,02 ± 5,15% de recuperación total de la proteína de interés, con más del 98% de pureza en ambas moléculas, una eficiente remoción de contaminantes y una antigenicidad mayor del 90% referido al monómero control del dominio de unión al receptor con 99% de pureza, lo que demuestra que el proceso establecido es eficiente en la obtención de un producto con la calidad requerida.

Abstract Background: Arterial hypertension (AH) is a chronic disease distributed worldwide, and the Angiotensin II receptor type 2 (AGTR2) gene variants are potential DNA markers to study in association with this disease. Objective: This systematic review (SR) aimed to identify single nucleotide variants in the AGTR2 gene as genetic markers associated with AH. Methods: The electronic databases MEDLINE, Web of Science, SCOPUS, Cochrane Central Register, EMBASE, SciELO, and TripDatabase were searched for research up to September 2023. Case-control studies with DNA variants in the AGTR2 gene associated with AH as the outcome were included in the review. Boolean connectors and keywords were used according to each database. Results: After diverse rounds of scrutiny, a final number of eight articles were included for 8911 participants, comprising 5451 cases and 3460 controls. A significant proportion of the selected studies were performed in Asian populations and were heterogeneous. Although 238 variants were shown in the gnomAD v2.1.1 database for September 2023, only six variants were identified in all the analyzed studies. Conclusions: The results obtained were not conclusive that a specific variant located in the AGTR2 gene has a strong association with AH. The study of this gene re-emerged last year as an essential target to investigate due to its participation in the development of agonist therapy to treat mild COVID-19 cases. Future studies with better statistical power are desirable to replicate the primary findings. Abstract Objective To evaluate the efficiency of the sepsis risk calculator and the serial clinical observation in the management of late preterm and term newborns with infectious risk factors. Method Single-center, observational, two-phase cohort study comparing the rates of neonates born ≥35 weeks' gestation, ≥2000 g birthweight, and without major congenital anomalies, who were screened and/or received antibiotics for early-onset neonatal sepsis risk at our center during two periods, before (January/2018-June/2019) and after (July/2019-December/2020) the implementation of the sepsis risk calculator. Results A total of 1796 (Period 1) and 1867 (Period 2) patients with infectious risk factors were included. During the second period, tests to rule out sepsis were reduced by 34.0 % (RR, 95 %CI): 0.66 (0.61, 0.71), blood cultures by 13.1 %: 0.87 (0.77, 0.98), hospital admissions by 13.5 %: 0.86 (0.76, 0.98) and antibiotic administration by 45.9 %: 0.54 (0.47, 0.63). Three cases of early-onset neonatal sepsis occurred in the first period and two in the second. Clinical serial evaluation would have detected all true cases. Conclusions The implementation of a sepsis risk calculator in the management of newborns ≥35 weeks GA, ≥2000 g birthweight, without major congenital anomalies, with infectious risk factors is safe and adequate to reduce laboratory tests, blood cultures, hospital admissions, and antibiotics administration. Serial clinical observation, in addition, could be instrumental to achieve or even improve this goal.
