Resumo Justicia citrina, J. minensis e J. trifoliata são espécies do sudeste brasileiro que apresentam folhas 3-verticiladas, uma característica pouco encontrada na família e no gênero. Além disso, compartilham outras similaridades morfológicas como o hábito, a inflorescência terminal densa e a corola vistosa. Em função disso, são frequentemente identificadas incorretamente nas coleções de herbários e em publicações. A análise dos tipos nomenclaturais, das descrições originais e de outras obras revelou as distinções entre essas espécies, a necessidade de uma lectotipificação e uma citação indevida de nome mal aplicado. As espécies se distinguem facilmente pela pilosidade, pelas inflorescências, pela cor da corola e pela forma das anteras. Apresentamos as atualizações nomenclaturais, certificamos a correta aplicação do nome Justicia trifoliata, e a distinção das espécies através de uma chave de identificação com base em caracteres diagnósticos de fácil observação nas coleções herborizadas. Abstract Justicia citrina, J. minensis, and J. trifoliata are species with 3-verticillate leaves in southeastern Brazil, a characteristic rarely found in the family and genus. In addition, they share other morphological similarities, such as the same habit, a dense terminal inflorescence, and a showy corolla. As a result, they are often misidentified in herbarium collections and in publications. An analysis of nomenclatural types, original descriptions, and other publications revealed distinctions between these species, the need for a lectotypification, and an improper citation of a misapplied name. The species are easily distinguished by their pilosity, inflorescences, color of the corolla, and shape of the anthers. We provide nomenclatural updates, certify the correct application of the name Justicia trifoliata, and distinguish the species with an identification key and diagnostic characters that are easy to observe in herbarium collections. ABSTRACT Nicotiana azambujae is an endemic species from Santa Catarina state, southern Brazil, that was described in 1964 and has not been seen since then. During fieldwork, we found a population in Alto Matador, about 70 km from the presumable type collection, after 73 years of its last known collection. Thus, we bring the first in vivo pictures of this species, assess its conservation status, update the morphologic description and discuss its habitat preferences. Resumo Os esporos de samambaias desempenham um papel vital na dispersão. As características únicas dos esporos, como tamanho, espessura e ornamentação, podem auxiliar nas decisões taxonômicas e na divisão dos grupos. Além disso, certas espécies de samambaias possuem esporos verdes contendo clorofila, característica rara que pode reforçar a evidência de parentesco dentro de um grupo específico. Lomaria spannagelii é uma espécie Neotropical endêmica do Brasil e, embora esporos verdes tenham sido relatados em suas espécies irmãs, Lomaria nuda e Lomaria discolor, a presença desses esporos ainda não foi investigada em L. spannagelii. Neste estudo, investigamos a morfologia dos esporos e esporos de L. spannagelii e, adicionalmente, determinamos a contagem cromossômica da espécie. Nossos resultados mostraram que a espécie analisada possui esporos verdes, característica compartilhada com L. nuda e L. discolor, e possui 2n = 64 cromossomos. Abstract Fern spores play a vital role in dispersal. The unique features of spores, such as size, thickness, and ornamentation can aid in taxonomic decisions and division of groups. Moreover, certain species of ferns possess green spores containing chlorophyll, an uncommon feature that can reinforce the evidence of relatedness within a specific group. Lomaria spannagelii is a Neotropical species endemic to Brazil, and, even though green spores have been reported in its sister species, Lomaria nuda and Lomaria discolor, the presence of these spores has not yet been investigated in L. spannagelii. In this study, we investigated the morphology of L. spannagelii spores and sporangia, and, additionally, we determined the chromosome count of the species. Our results showed that the analyzed species has green spores, a characteristic shared with L. nuda and L. discolor, and has 2n = 64 chromosomes. Resumo Baseado em um espécime de herbário coletado no estado de Santa Catarina, Brasil, descrevemos e ilustramos uma nova espécie: Oxypetalum kassneri. Além disso, com base em análises filogenéticas moleculares, propomos a revalidação de O. megapotamicum, espécie atualmente circunscrita no gênero Ditassa. O neótipo de D. megapotamica e o lectótipo de D. oxypetala são designados aqui.

Abstract Based on a specimen collected in Santa Catarina state, Brazil, the new species Oxypetalum kassneri is described and illustrated. Moreover, a molecular phylogenetic analysis allows to propose the revalidation of O. megapotamicum, a species currently placed in the genus Ditassa. The neotype of D. megapotamica and the lectotype of D. oxypetala are designated here.
