This study highlights the synthesis of innovative polyurethane materials derived from Moringa oleifera oils extracted from two distinct sources. The oils were converted into their respective polyols through the in situ generated performic acid method. Diverse material characteristics were observed due to different agroclimatic and cultivation conditions for the sources. Extraction yields were 45.21% (source 1) and 40.32% (source 2), with acid values of 28.70 and 26.00 mg KOH per g of oil, respectively. Oleic acid constituted 79.87 and 67.11% of the oils composition, respectively. Nuclear magnetic resonance and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) confirmed the hydroxylation of the oils. FTIR also identified the isocyanate structures in the synthesized polyurethane materials. Gel permeation chromatography analysis revealed a higher oligomer content in the polyol synthesized from the oil extracted from source 2. Thermogravimetric analysis demonstrated enhanced thermal stability post-oil conversion, highlighting decomposition stages for rigid and flexible segments. Differential scanning calorimetry indicated higher unsaturation in the oil extracted from source 1, resulting in an elevated crystallization temperature. Tensile testing showed increased elasticity as the [NCO]/[OH] ratio decreased in the material, emphasizing the influence of polyol and crosslinking agent concentrations on mechanical resistance of polyurethane materials. sources method 4521 45 21 45.21 1 4032 40 32 40.32 2, 2 , 2) 2870 28 70 28.7 2600 26 00 26.0 respectively 7987 79 87 79.8 6711 67 11 67.11 composition (FTIR postoil post conversion segments temperature NCO/OH NCOOH NCO / OH [NCO]/[OH 452 4 45.2 403 3 40.3 287 7 28. 260 0 26. 798 8 79. 671 6 67.1 45. 40. 67.

ABSTRACT Introduction : Access to modern contraceptive methods constitutes a key determinant in sexual and reproductive health, particularly in regions with socioeconomic inequalities. In Argentina, several public policies have sought to guarantee this access, especially in the northern regions of the country. Objective : To analyze variations in the use of contraceptive methods among women aged 15-49 years in Argentina, with emphasis on the NOA and NEA regions during 2011-2012 and 2019-2020, examining their distribution according to socioeconomic strata. Materials and methods : Quantitative, cross-sectional descriptive study. Data from the National Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) 2011-2012 (n=20844) and 2019-2020 (n=11763) were analyzed. Comparative prevalence analysis was performed with 95% confidence intervals. Results: A significant increase in the use of contraceptive methods was observed in Argentina (57.69% to 61.33%) and NOA (43.78% to 57.46%) between 2011-2012 and 2019-2020. Subdermal implants showed the greatest increase in adolescents in the NOA (0% to 35.24%) and NEA (0% to 32.59%). In the poorest quintiles, contraceptive use increased significantly, especially in the NEA (31.04% to 52.30%). Conclusion : The increase in the use of modern contraceptive methods, particularly in vulnerable populations of Northern Argentina, suggests a positive impact of the implemented public policies, especially the ENIA Plan, in improving access to contraception.

The main aim of this article is to provide a practical diagnostic approach to phenocopies of Huntington disease (HD). These are defined as conditions characterized by a phenotype similar to HD but with no pathogenic repeat expansion in the HTT gene. Their frequency ranges from 2% to 40% depending on ethnicity and geographic location. The most frequent genetic causes are Huntington Disease-like 2/JHP3, followed by spinocerebellar ataxia genes (SCA17/TBP, SCA12/PPP2R2B and SCA3/ATXN3, CACNA1A), and frontotemporal dementia genes (C9orf72, and VCP). There is current recognition that a growing number of acquired causes can mimic HD. Autoimmune causes such as primary antiphospholipid syndrome, paraneoplastic chorea, and anti-IGLON5 antibodies, as well as stroke, and diabetes mellitus type 2 complications are the leading acquired causes of HD phenocopies. Finally, we provide practical recommendations on how to approach HD phenocopies considering age at onset, ethnicity, and geographic location of individuals.

ABSTRACT The increased demand for white teeth has intensified the commercialization of new bleaching products, particularly those that can be accessed easily, do not require the direct supervision of a dentist, and are affordable. Among these new products, several dentifrices publicized as bleaching products have been developed, most recent of them being the activated charcoal toothpaste, which entered the market promising to whiten teeth. While it is portrayed as a healthy and ecological product, there is a paucity of scientific evidence supporting its alleged benefits. Therefore, this literature review aimed to evaluate activated charcoal containing oral hygiene products on their bleaching ability and effects on enamel. After analyzing several in vitro studies on the subject, it can be concluded that these products do not have a bleaching effect per se, but act by removing the extrinsic pigments from the teeth. However, most of the products containing activated charcoal could have abrasive effects on the surface of the enamel. Therefore, it is suggested caution about the indication of these dentifrices, especially for individuals predisposed to dental wear, such as gingival recession, reduced salivary flow, and high risk of caries or dental erosion. easily dentist affordable developed toothpaste product benefits Therefore enamel subject se However wear recession flow erosion

ABSTRACT Backgrounds: Fortunately, much has been studied about COVID-19 in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Evidence suggests that these patients do not appear to be at increased risk of severe COVID-19. However, there are still some uncertainties regarding the clinical manifestations of COVID-19 in patients with immune-mediated diseases. Objective: This study aimed to describe the main symptoms of COVID-19 and their frequency in IBD patients and evaluate the impact of the IBD therapeutic drugs on clinical presentation of COVID-19 and to determine factors associated with COVID-19 in this population. Methods: Adult patients with IBD from three tertiary-care public, teaching hospitals in Ceará, Northeastern Brazil, were evaluated during one scheduled appointment from March to December 2020. Patients with possible or confirmed COVID-19 were compared with patients without COVID-19. Furthermore, incidences of each symptom were evaluated based on the use of IBD therapeutic drugs. Results: A total of 515 patients with IBD were included in the study: 234 with CD, and 281 with UC. Of these, 174 patients (34%) had possible/confirmed COVID-19 of whom 156 (90%) were symptomatic. Main symptoms were fever (65%) and headache (65%); gastrointestinal symptoms occurred in one third of patients and were higher than COVID-19 in general population. The factors associated with having COVID-19 were female gender (OR 1.71, 95%CI: 1.17-2.50); contact at home (OR 5.07, 95%CI: 3.31-7.78) and outside the home (OR 3.14, 95%CI: 2.10-4.71) with a case of COVID-19; work outside of the home (OR 1.87, 95%CI: 1.26-2.78); family history of COVID-19 (OR 2.29, 95%CI 1.58-3.33) use of salicylate (OR 1.71, 95%CI: 1.17-4.28); and asthma (OR 7.10, 95%CI: 1.46-34.57). ABSTRACT The limited temporal completeness and taxonomic accuracy of species lists, made available in a traditional manner in scientific publications, has always represented a problem. These lists are invariably limited to a few taxonomic groups and do not represent up-to-date knowledge of all species and classifications. In this context, the Brazilian megadiverse fauna is no exception, and the Catálogo Taxonômico da Fauna do Brasil (CTFB) (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/), made public in 2015, represents a database on biodiversity anchored on a list of valid and expertly recognized scientific names of animals in Brazil. The CTFB is updated in near real time by a team of more than 800 specialists. By January 1, 2024, the CTFB compiled 133,691 nominal species, with 125,138 that were considered valid. Most of the valid species were arthropods (82.3%, with more than 102,000 species) and chordates (7.69%, with over 11,000 species). These taxa were followed by a cluster composed of Mollusca (3,567 species), Platyhelminthes (2,292 species), Annelida (1,833 species), and Nematoda (1,447 species). All remaining groups had less than 1,000 species reported in Brazil, with Cnidaria (831 species), Porifera (628 species), Rotifera (606 species), and Bryozoa (520 species) representing those with more than 500 species. Analysis of the CTFB database can facilitate and direct efforts towards the discovery of new species in Brazil, but it is also fundamental in providing the best available list of valid nominal species to users, including those in science, health, conservation efforts, and any initiative involving animals. The importance of the CTFB is evidenced by the elevated number of citations in the scientific literature in diverse areas of biology, law, anthropology, education, forensic science, and veterinary science, among others. publications problem uptodate up date classifications context exception (CTFB http//fauna.jbrj.gov.br/, httpfaunajbrjgovbr http //fauna.jbrj.gov.br/ , jbrj gov br (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/) 2015 Brazil 80 specialists 1 2024 133691 133 691 133,69 125138 125 138 125,13 82.3%, 823 82 3 (82.3% 102000 102 000 102,00 7.69%, 769 7 69 (7.69% 11000 11 11,00 . 3,567 3567 567 (3,56 2,292 2292 2 292 (2,29 1,833 1833 833 (1,83 1,447 1447 447 (1,44 1000 1,00 831 (83 628 (62 606 (60 520 (52 50 users science health biology law anthropology education others http//fauna.jbrj.gov.br/ faunajbrjgovbr //fauna.jbrj.gov.br (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/ 201 8 202 13369 13 133,6 12513 12 125,1 82.3% (82.3 10200 10 00 102,0 7.69% 76 6 (7.69 1100 11,0 3,56 356 56 (3,5 2,29 229 29 (2,2 1,83 183 83 (1,8 1,44 144 44 (1,4 100 1,0 (8 62 (6 60 52 (5 5 http//fauna.jbrj.gov.br (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br 20 1336 133, 1251 125, 82.3 (82. 1020 0 102, 7.69 (7.6 110 11, 3,5 35 (3, 2,2 22 (2, 1,8 18 (1, 1,4 14 4 ( 82.
Introduction: Jean Watson's theory of caring is committed to holistic care through a helping relationship between patient and caregiver. The "bedside shift report" methodology actively involves the patient in the transfer of information between health professionals, especially in hostile contexts (such as intensive care units) for communication and humanization of care. Objective: to explore the perceptions of patients who participated in the transfer of information at the bedside in an intensive care unit, from Jean Watson's theory of caring. Methodology: narrative analysis of the interviews carried out through the conceptual-theoretical-empirical system (CTES) based on Jean Watson's caring theory. The empirical-rational method was combined through an inductive approach. Results: The four patients interviewed expressed perceptions inherent to the assumptions and care factors of the caring Theory: interpersonal relationship and health promotion (they facilitate trust and empowerment); adequate environment for personal development (improve transparency and satisfaction); patient as the central axis of nursing (increases the effectiveness and safety of care). Conclusions: The importance of including the patient in the transfer of information allows him to be the central axis of her care. This allows you to grow and promote your health, thanks to the environment of trust created and/or the communicative symbiosis between the participants.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Amputation is an event that has consequences that can affect daily life, including pain, enhancing changes, whether in sleep or in quality of life. The objective of this study was to evaluate the pressure pain threshold (PPT) in people with amputations submitted to the use of different postural elevation equipment. METHODS: Experimental crossover study, carried out from September to October 2022, with people with lower limb amputation (n=15) and people without amputation (n=15). PPT in four regions (T12-L1, L5-S1, anterior tuberosity of the tibia and calcaneus) were evaluated before and after the use of different versions (A and B) of an equipment for postural elevation, gravity and pain interference. Presence of signs and symptoms of central sensitization (CS) and sleep quality. RESULTS: The groups did not present PPT alterations when compared between the different versions of the equipment (p<0.05) in the four locations analyzed. Furthermore, the groups did not show differences in relation to the evaluation days or among themselves regarding the severity and interference of pain and the presence of signs and symptoms of CS. The control group indicated poor sleep quality (p=0.0173) and remained worse than people with amputation. CONCLUSION: The versions of the equipment did not change PPT in the analyzed areas. The groups did not differ between themselves, suggesting that the equipment promoted similar responses, that is, no change in sensitivity was evidenced in the analyzed regions which have greater contact with stabilization elements and weight discharge of the equipment. Abstract The study aimed to assess the influence of excessive use of a photostimulable phosphor plate (PSP) on the density, image noise, and contrast of radiographs. For that, radiographs of an acrylic block were acquired with a PSP of the Express intraoral system to assess the density and image noise. Initially, five images were obtained and exported (first group). After 400 exposures to X-rays and scannings of PSP, other five images were obtained and exported (second group). The same procedure was done after 800 (third group), 1200 (fourth group), 1600 (fifth group), and 2000 acquisitions (sixth group), resulting in 30 images to be evaluated. The mean and standard deviation of the gray values were calculated for the images using the ImageJ software. For contrast analysis, radiographs of an aluminum step-wedge were acquired with a new PSP following the same acquisition intervals. The percentage of contrast variation was calculated. Another two unused PSP receptors were employed to evaluate the method’s reproducibility. The comparison of the results among the acquisition groups was performed with one-way Analysis of Variance (α=0.05). Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) assessed the reproducibility of the receptors. Image noise did not differ among the groups (p>0.05). There was a slight increase in density after 400 acquisitions and a slight difference in contrast for all acquisition groups without a pattern of increase or decrease (p<0.05). ICC showed excellent reliability for the methods. Therefore, excessive PSP use slightly affected the radiograph’s density and contrast. ABSTRACT In this study, pollen grains of Harleyodendron unifoliolatum, Holocalyx balansae, and Uribea tamarindoides, three monospecific genera with Neotropical distribution belonging to the clade Exostyleae, one of the basal lineages of the family Leguminosae, subfamily Papilionoideae, were analyzed. The palynological material was acetolyzed and analyzed under light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Under LM, small and medium-sized pollen grains were observed, which showed a prolate-spheroidal to prolate shape, 3-colporate, microreticulate and reticulate exine, sexine and nexine of equal thickness in Harleyodendron and Holocalyx, while the sexine was thicker than nexine in Uribea. Analysis under SEM showed finely granulate, psilate, and granulate apertural membrane, while the exine ornamentation varied from perforate-microechinate in Harleyodendron, to perforate in Holocalyx, while in Uribea showed an irregular relief and granular projections on the perforate tectum. The pollen morphology of these species is similar to each other, varying in sexine/nexine ratio, apertural membrane, and exine ornamentation. Harleyodendron has a finely granulate apertural membrane, sexine and nexine of equal thickness, and a perforate-microreticulate exine ornamentation, Holocalyx shows a psilated apertural membrane, sexine and nexine of equal thickness, and exine ornamentation perforate, and Uribea has a granulate apertural membrane, sexine thicker than nexine, and exine ornamentation with granular projections.
