Resumo Renealmia abrange aproximadamente 75 espécies de plantas herbáceas e rizomatosas, oriundas de regiões africanas e neotropicais, conhecidas por sua diversidade de metabólitos. Este estudo visou caracterizar a anatomia e histoquímica dos órgãos vegetativos de três espécies nativas do Brasil: Renealmia breviscapa e Renealmia nicolaioides, coletadas na Floresta Amazônica, no Acre, e Renealmia chrysotricha, encontrada em uma floresta Atlântica, no Rio de Janeiro. Amostras foram fixadas e processadas por técnicas convencionais de anatomia vegetal, incluindo testes histoquímicos para identificação das classes de substâncias presentes nos órgãos vegetativos. Características como idioblastos oleíferos, estrutura foliar dorsiventral, estômatos tetracíticos, tricomas unicelulares e presença de cristais prismáticos foram comuns entre as espécies de Renealmia estudadas, revelando-se significativas para a família. Foram identificados caracteres distintivos nos órgãos vegetativos das três espécies, como distribuição celular do floema radicular, cobertura do tecido dos rizomas, diferentes tipos e distribuição de idioblastos e tricomas fenólicos tanto nos rizomas quanto nas folhas, presença ou ausência de pecíolo, além da camada subepidérmica na região intercostal das folhas. Destaca-se também a importância do conteúdo mineral como característica diagnóstica do gênero Renealmia. Abstract Renealmia comprises approximately 85 herbaceous and rhizomatous plants in Africa and America known for their metabolite diversity. This study characterized the anatomy and histochemistry of the vegetative organs of three native Brazilian Renealmia species, R. breviscapa and R. nicolaioides, collected from the Amazon Forest in Acre and R. chrysotricha from the Atlantic Forest in Rio de Janeiro. Samples were fixed and processed using conventional plant anatomy and micromorphology techniques, including histochemical tests to identify classes of compounds in vegetative organs. Characteristics including oil idioblasts, dorsiventral leaf structure, tetracytic stomata, unicellular trichomes, and prismatic crystals were common among the studied species of Renealmia, and thus significant for the family. Distinctive characteristics were identified in the vegetative organs of the three species, including the cellular distribution of root phloem, covering of rhizome tissue, different types and distributions of idioblasts and phenolic trichomes in rhizomes and leaves, presence or absence of petiole, and subepidermal layer in the intercostal region of leaves. Mineral content importance as a diagnostic characteristic of the genus is also emphasized. ABSTRACT Chromium is present in the tannery sludges worldwide making it a problem for agriculture. This study aimed to evaluate whether humus functions as a chromium stabilizing agent when using tannery sludge in the substrate of conilon coffee seedlings (Coffea canephora) and to determine what effects there are on leaf development and anatomy. Treatments consisted of a fixed dose of tannery sludge (30% of volume) on substrates of conilon coffee seedlings with different proportions of humus and subsoil (T-10, T-20, T-30, T-40% of humus). Information for the evaluation of leaf anatomy and seedling development was collected at 180 days after the planting of cuttings. From the phenological point of view, the treatments that best promoted seedling quality were T-30 and T-40. However, the greater the amount of humus in the substrate the greater the absorption of chromium by plants, which directly affected the organization of epidermal cells and leaf mesophyll. In addition, intense cytoplasmic degradation, ultrastructural changes in chloroplasts and mitochondria, and an increase in autophagic vacuoles were observed. RESUMO: A variabilidade genética é a base para o progresso genético em café. Este estudo teve como objetivo, avaliar o potencial de caracteres morfoagronômicos e anatômicos foliares em estudos de variabilidade genética entre cultivares de Coffea canephora. Dez genótipos foram distribuídos em um experimento seguindo delineamento em blocos ao acaso com três repetições. Foram detectadas diferenças significativas entre os genótipos pelo teste F (P < 0,05) para 13 dos 15 caracteres avaliados. Esses resultados evidenciaram a heterogeneidade entre as cultivares estudadas, o que é essencial para a composição da base genética e avanço dos programas de melhoramento. O teste de Scott e Knott detectou as diferenças entre os genótipos, separando-os em quatro grupos. Os caracteres anatômicos foliares apresentaram as maiores variações. Cinco, dentre os sete caracteres anatômicos foliares, apresentaram estimativas de herdabilidade superiores a 80% com destaque para a densidade estomática (95,69%) e comprimento do poro estomático (92,72%). Correlações positivas foram observadas entre caracteres morfoagronômicos e anatômicos foliares. A análise de agrupamento, considerando a distância de Mahalanobis como medida de dissimilaridade (D²), apontou a distinção de dois grupos de genótipos. A inclusão de caracteres anatômicos foliares na caracterização de genótipos de C. canephora pode auxiliar os melhoristas de plantas na melhor discriminação entre genótipos e maior segurança na seleção de clones para geração de novas cultivares.

ABSTRACT: Genetic variability is the basis for coffee genetic breeding. This study evaluated the potential of leaf anatomy and morpho-agronomic traits in studies of genetic variability in C. canephoracultivars. Ten genotypes were distributed in randomized block designs with three replicates. Significant differences among genotypes were detected by F-test (P < 0.05) for 13 of 15 evaluated traits. These results evidenced the heterogeneity of the studied cultivars, which is essential in composition of genetic basis in breeding programs. The Scott-Knott test detected variability among genotypes, grouped into up to four mean groups. Leaf anatomy traits presented the largest variations. Five out of seven leaf anatomy traits presented heritability higher than 80%, with emphasis on stomatal density (95.69%) and stomatal pore length (92.72%). Positive correlations were observed among morpho-agronomic and anatomic traits. Cluster analysis used the Mahalanobis general distance (D2) as a measure of genetic dissimilarity and divided the genotypes into two distinct groups. The inclusion of leaf anatomic traits to characterize C. canephoragenotypes may assist plant breeders with better genetic discrimination and with greater security in plant selection when composing cultivars.

Abstract The present work aimed to isolate secondary metabolites from Myrcia insularis Gardner (Myrtaceae) wood and to evaluate the anti-Candida activity and further extracts obtained by partition and the respective main isolated compounds. Wood was collected in a Seasonal Semideciduous Forest remnant of the Atlantic Forest of northern Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. Chromatographic and spectrographic techniques were used to isolate and identify secondary metabolites. Methanol extract inhibited the growth of Candida buinensis and Candida tropicalis, with inhibition being approximately 82% for the latter. The main compound isolated from the ethyl acetate partitions was arjunolic acid, a triterpene. The antimicrobial activity was first observed with the wood metabolites of M. insularis adds to our understanding of the antifungal properties of this species and other species within the Myrtaceae family, including the presence of arjunolic acid, which may play a role in this activity. RESUMO Discutimos, neste artigo, as noções de conhecimento, criatividade e produtividade linguísticos tal como são concebidas na Linguística Funcional e na Gramática de Construções, fazendo também uma revisão, embora mais breve, desses conceitos na Gramática Gerativa. Nesse sentido, revisitamos a postura que diferentes linguistas adotam em relação a essas noções, confrontando-as e ressaltando suas divergências. Relacionamos cada uma das concepções aos pressupostos teóricos específicos de cada modelo de análise, apontando, ainda, o desenvolvimento que tais noções tiveram ao longo do tempo, resultado do próprio desenvolvimento da Linguística como ciência. Caracterizamos a construção e suas propriedades e, sob o enquadre de modelos construcionistas, relacionamos a criatividade e a produtividade à propriedade de esquematicidade das construções. ABSTRACT In this article, we discuss the notions of linguistic knowledge, creativity, and productivity as they are conceived in Functional Linguistics and in Construction Grammar, also reviewing, more briefly, these concepts in Generative Grammar. In this sense, we revisit the posture that different linguists adopt in relation to these notions, confronting them and highlighting their divergences. We relate each of the concepts to the specific theoretical assumptions of each model of analysis, also pointing out the evolution that such notions have gone through over time, which results from the development of Linguistics as a science. We characterize the construction and its properties, and under the framework of constructionist models, we relate creativity and productivity to the property of schematicity. Resumo Introdução o estado nutricional e seus fatores associados assume uma importante função na saúde dos idosos. Objetivo Identificar os fatores associados ao estado nutricional dos idosos da atenção primária à saúde da cidade de Maringá, Paraná. Método Estudo transversal, do qual fizeram parte 654 idosos usuários das Unidades Básicas de Saúde. Como instrumentos foram utilizados um questionário sociodemográfico, o Mini Nutritional Assessment, o Questionário Internacional de Atividade Física. A análise de dados foi conduzida por meio dos testes de Kolmogorov-Smirnov, “U” de Mann-Whitney, qui-quadrado e regressão logística binária (p < 0,05). Resultados Os resultados evidenciaram maior proporção de idosos com percepção de saúde boa, que tomam menos medicamentos, não tiveram quedas e com nível muito ativo/ativo com o estado nutricional normal. Verificou-se que idosos com estado nutricional normal apresentaram maior circunferência de panturrilha (p = 0,01). Destaca-se que idosos com melhor percepção de saúde, maior nível de atividade física e circunferência de panturrilha, nível mais alto de escolaridade e renda mensal de 2,1 a 3 salários mínimos têm mais chances de apresentar estado nutricional normal. Conclusão Concluiu-se que o estado nutricional normal em idosos está associado ao maior nível de escolaridade, maior poder aquisitivo, melhor percepção de saúde e à prática regular de atividade física.

Abstract Background nutritional status and its associated factors play an important role in the health of the elderly. Objective To identify the factors associated with the nutritional status of the elderly in primary health care at the city of Maringá, Paraná. Method A cross-sectional study was carried out with 654 Basic Health Units’ elderly patients. The research instruments included a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Mini Nutritional Assessment, and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Mann-Whitney U, Chi-square and Binary Logistic Regression tests (p <0.05). Results The results showed a higher proportion of elderly patients with good health perception, who took less medication, had no falls, and had a high/average activity level with normal nutritional status. It was verified that the elderly with normal nutritional status presented a higher calf circumference (p = 0.01). It should be emphasized that older people with better health perception, higher level of physical activity and calf circumference, higher level of education and monthly income of 2.1 to 3 minimum wages are more likely to present normal nutritional status. Conclusion It was concluded that a normal nutritional status in the elderly population is associated with a higher educational level, greater purchasing power, better health perception and regular practice of physical activity.

RESUMO Objetivos: Há diversas terapias sendo utilizadas ou propostas para a COVID-19, muitas carecendo de apropriada avaliação de efetividade e segurança. O propósito deste documento é elaborar recomendações para subsidiar decisões sobre o tratamento farmacológico de pacientes hospitalizados com COVID-19 no Brasil. Métodos: Um grupo de 27 membros, formado por especialistas, representantes do Ministério da Saúde e metodologistas, integra essa diretriz. Foi utilizado o método de elaboração de diretrizes rápidas, tomando por base a adoção e/ou a adaptação de recomendações a partir de diretrizes internacionais existentes (GRADE ADOLOPMENT), apoiadas pela plataforma e-COVID-19 RecMap. A qualidade das evidências e a elaboração das recomendações seguiram o método GRADE. Resultados: Foram geradas 16 recomendações. Entre elas, estão recomendações fortes para o uso de corticosteroides em pacientes em uso de oxigênio suplementar, para o uso de anticoagulantes em doses de profilaxia para tromboembolismo e para não uso de antibacterianos nos pacientes sem suspeita de infecção bacteriana. Não foi possível fazer uma recomendação quanto à utilização do tocilizumabe em pacientes hospitalizados com COVID-19 em uso de oxigênio, pelas incertezas na disponibilidade e de acesso ao medicamento. Foi feita recomendação para não usar azitromicina, casirivimabe + imdevimabe, cloroquina, colchicina, hidroxicloroquina, ivermectina, lopinavir/ ritonavir, plasma convalescente e rendesivir. Conclusão: Até o momento, poucas terapias se provaram efetivas no tratamento do paciente hospitalizado com COVID-19, sendo recomendados apenas corticosteroides e profilaxia para tromboembolismo. Diversos medicamentos foram considerados ineficazes, devendo ser descartados, de forma a oferecer o melhor tratamento pelos princípios da medicina baseada em evidências e promover economia de recursos não eficazes.

ABSTRACT Objective: Several therapies are being used or proposed for COVID-19, and many lack appropriate evaluations of their effectiveness and safety. The purpose of this document is to develop recommendations to support decisions regarding the pharmacological treatment of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Brazil. Methods: A group of 27 experts, including representatives of the Ministry of Health and methodologists, created this guideline. The method used for the rapid development of guidelines was based on the adoption and/or adaptation of existing international guidelines (GRADE ADOLOPMENT) and supported by the e-COVID-19 RecMap platform. The quality of the evidence and the preparation of the recommendations followed the GRADE method. Results: Sixteen recommendations were generated. They include strong recommendations for the use of corticosteroids in patients using supplemental oxygen, the use of anticoagulants at prophylactic doses to prevent thromboembolism and the nonuse of antibiotics in patients without suspected bacterial infection. It was not possible to make a recommendation regarding the use of tocilizumab in patients hospitalized with COVID-19 using oxygen due to uncertainties regarding the availability of and access to the drug. Strong recommendations against the use of hydroxychloroquine, convalescent plasma, colchicine, lopinavir + ritonavir and antibiotics in patients without suspected bacterial infection and also conditional recommendations against the use of casirivimab + imdevimab, ivermectin and rendesivir were made. Conclusion: To date, few therapies have proven effective in the treatment of hospitalized patients with COVID-19, and only corticosteroids and prophylaxis for thromboembolism are recommended. Several drugs were considered ineffective and should not be used to provide the best treatment according to the principles of evidence-based medicine and promote economical resource use.

Resumo A evolução mundial das cervejarias artesanais é notória, assim como a das rotas de bebidas e do segmento turismo cervejeiro, pois de acordo com Coelho-Costa (2015), a cerveja se caracteriza como um elemento indispensável para que um destino possa desenvolver atividades no turismo cervejeiro. No estado do Paraná, um dos maiores produtores do Brasil, levanta-se a problemática sobre a existência de atratividade de seus empreendimentos para conformar circuitos turísticos. O presente estudo buscou evidenciar o potencial do turismo cervejeiro no Paraná, a partir da caracterização de suas microcervejarias artesanais, assim como a sua atratividade para a visitação e a conformação de rotas de bebidas. Como metodologia, desenvolveu-se uma pesquisa exploratória por meio de levantamento bibliográfico e documental sobre os temas. Também, realizou-se a identificação das rotas de bebidas do Brasil, a partir da análise do Mapa do Turismo Brasileiro, de páginas eletrônicas oficiais de divulgação e do site de comercialização Tripadvisor. Para a pesquisa de campo, utilizou-se um questionário estruturado para identificar, mapear e caracterizar os 65 pequenos produtores cervejeiros do estado paranaense em uma parceria com o Sebrae/PR e a Procerva – Associação das Microcervejarias do Paraná. Como resultado, identificou-se que os empreendimentos analisados possuem atratividade por sua inovação, produção, diversidade e qualidade, constituindo potencial favorável ao desenvolvimento de novos produtos, tais como rotas de bebidas e outras atividades de visitação, aproveitando o amplo crescimento do turismo cervejeiro no Brasil, apontado pelo Ministério de Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento (MAPA, 2020), que exibe um crescimento no número de estabelecimentos cervejeiros.

Abstract The worldwide evolution of craft breweries is notorious, as well as that of the beverage routes and the craft beer tourism segment. According to Coelho-Costa (2015), beer stands out as an indispensable element for a destination to develop tourism activities in this segment. In the state of Paraná, one of the largest producers in Brazil, the problem arises concerning the existence of attractiveness of the enterprises to organize tourist circuits. The present study sought to highlight the potential of craft beer tourism in Paraná, from the characterization of its artisanal microbreweries, as well as its attractiveness for visiting and organizing beverage routes. As a methodology, an exploratory research was developed through a bibliographic and documentary survey. The beverage routes in Brazil were also identified, based on the analysis of the Brazilian Tourism Map, official publicity websites and the Tripadvisor marketing web pages. The field research was structured with a questionnaire used to identify, map and characterize the 65 small brewers in the state of Paraná in a partnership with Sebrae/PR and Procerva - Associação das Microcervejarias do Paraná. As a result, it was identified that the ventures are attractive due to their innovation, production, diversity and quality, constituting a favorable potential for the development of new products, such as beverage routes and other visitation activities, taking advantage of the wide growth of the craft beer tourism in Brazil, appointed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA, 2020), which shows an increase in the number of brewers.

Como resultado, se identificó que los emprendimientos son atractivos por su innovación, producción, diversidad y calidad, constituyendo un potencial favorable para el desarrollo de nuevos productos, como rutas de bebidas y otras actividades de visitación, aprovechando el amplio crecimiento del turismo cervecero en Brasil, designado por el Ministerio de Agricultura, Ganadería y Abastecimiento (MAPA, 2020), que muestra un crecimiento sin número de cerveceros.

ABSTRACT Tropical forests are the most diverse on the planet, and it is essential to understand how plant species adapt to the environmental differences inherent in this environment. This study describes the wood anatomy and hydraulic architecture of Bathysa cuspidata and Bathysa nicholsonii in two remnants of the Atlantic Forest through a paired analysis of the hydraulic system related to taxonomic and environmental aspects. Samples were collected non-destructively, processed following techniques of wood anatomy. Sympatric species differ taxonomically in Bathysa cuspidata showed vessels either solitary or radial multiples of 2 to 4 elements, septate fibre-tracheids with thick walls, and larger rays with sheath cells. At the same time, B. nicholsonii has a higher vessel frequency, septate fibre-tracheids with thin walls, narrower rays, vessels with smaller diameters. Although each species’ hydraulic system shows acclimatization variations to different sites of occurrence, the structural differences in wood ensure the segregation between the species in each site. Our results corroborate the relevance of the anatomical wood anatomy studies as a subsidy for a better definition of morphologically similar taxa and show structural aspects aimed at survival in the Atlantic Forest. This data combination has often been neglected in understanding biodiversity in the tropics.

ABSTRACT External factors can interfere with the structure and biological activity of plants. Nevertheless, the susceptibility of plants to specific environmental conditions varies, which raises many questions about the behavior of medicinal plants when grown in urban areas. This study aims to detect possible changes induced by exposure of Eugenia uniflora L. to an urban environment, with emphasis on variation in external and internal leaf structure and differences in the production of its main metabolites. We compared leaves of E. uniflora cultivated in forest and urban sites and analyzed them for structural plasticity and characteristics indicative of stress in the urban environment. The leaves of the urban site revealed necrosis and reddish spots, higher stomatal density, smaller stomata and more numerous crystals and secretory glands, as well as evident storage of starch, lipids, and mucilage. The presence of numerous crystals had a high plasticity index and great potential as anatomical marker for evaluating the effects of the urban environment. Visual symptoms and anatomical changes were efficient at diagnosing stress in E. uniflora, while characteristics of the urban site, such as temperature, heat and pollution, are thought to be responsible for the observed variation and may influence your medicinal characteristic.

RESUMO O artigo apresenta os primeiros resultados de pesquisa que investiga uma nova forma de gestão dos sistemas educacionais a partir da promoção de arranjos institucionais de gestão territorial da educação por meio dos Consórcios Públicos (CP) e Arranjos de Desenvolvimento da Educação (ADE) em parceria público-privada, frente às lacunas conceituais e operacionais do regime de colaboração e das formas de cooperação do federalismo brasileiro e diante do silenciamento do governo federal sobre a instituição do Sistema Nacional de Educação. A partir da análise de documentos e entrevistas semiestruturadas com sujeitos envolvidos no processo, o estudo busca investigar sob que ordenamentos jurídicos, concepções e interesses políticos tais arranjos se fundamentam, como eles vêm sendo disseminados no país, demonstrando as iniciativas em curso no estado da Bahia com os Consórcios Públicos sob a iniciativa governamental. Os resultados preliminares sinalizam o crescimento de parcerias público-privadas no âmbito dos preceitos da Nova Gestão Pública que sustentam a conformação dos arranjos, por meio de redes de governança corporativa da política educacional que apresentam resistência a pautas progressistas, com interesses na ruptura dos processos democráticos vislumbrando, na gestão da educação, por intermédio dos ADEs, uma estratégia de mercado para consolidação do alcance dos seus interesses lucrativos.

ABSTRACT The article presents the first results of a research that investigates a new way of managing educational systems through the promotion of institutional arrangements for territorial management of education through Public Consortia (CP) and Education Development Arrangements (ADE) in public-private partnership. This is to be seen the background of conceptual and operational gaps of the collaboration regime and the forms of cooperation of Brazilian federalism and the silence of the federal government over the institution of the National Education System. From the analysis of documents and semi-structured interviews with subjects involved in the process, the study seeks to investigate under which legal systems, conceptions and political interests such arrangements are based, as they have been disseminated in the country, demonstrating the ongoing initiatives in the state of Bahia with the Public Consortia under the governmental initiative. The preliminary results indicate the growth of public-private partnerships within the scope of the New Public Management principles that support the conformation of the arrangements, through corporate governance networks of educational policy that are resistant to progressive guidelines, with interests in the rupture of democratic processes in the management of education, through the ADEs, a market strategy to consolidate the reach of their profitable goals.

Abstract: This study aims to identify phenolic compounds in dichloromethane and methanolic extracts of the rhizome of Renealmia nicolaioides collected in the North Region of Brazil. Two known diarylheptanoids, 1,7-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-(1E)-1-hepten-3-one (1), and 5R-1,7-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1E-hepten-5-ol (2), and a new one (1R,2S,5S)-2-hydroxy-1,7(p-hydroxyphenyl)-centrolobine (3), as well as one flavonoid, 3-metoxi-quercetin (4) were isolated by chromatographic procedure and identified by spectroscopic techniques (1H and13C NMR, HRMS and CD). The acetyl derivative of 2 was used to confirm its structure. All four compounds are reported for the first time for this genus, and this is the first occurrence of compound 1 as a natural metabolite. The results reported here are unprecedented for the genus Renealmia.

Resumo: Vanilla é o gênero mais bem conhecido e economicamente importante de Orchidaceae no mundo. A espécie Vanilla bahiana é restrita ao Brasil e seu estado de conservação foi recentemente avaliado como “Em Perigo”. A espécie é filogeneticamente próxima de V. planifolia, cujos frutos são a principal fonte natural de vanilina. As principais características desejáveis para a produção de baunilha são o elevado número de frutos e grande resistência ao estresse abiótico. Altas temperaturas (> 32 º C) e fortes chuvas favorecem a infecção fúngica, sendo, portanto, indiretamente responsáveis pela queda de frutos de V. planifolia em cultivo. O objetivo do presente estudo foi acompanhar o processo de maturação do fruto de V. bahiana em um fragmento de restinga em uma Área de Proteção Ambiental do estado da Bahia e destacar as implicações para o melhoramento da cultura da baunilha. O trabalho de campo foi realizado de abril de 2016 a janeiro de 2017. Um total de nove autopolinizações manuais e nove polinizações cruzadas manuais foram realizadas com sucesso. O comprimento, o diâmetro e a circunferência dos frutos foram registrados a cada duas semanas. A permanência do fruto na infrutescência foi medida através de dias consecutivos a partir da polinização. Medidas estatísticas descritivas dos atributos morfométricos foram calculadas e a análise de correlação de Pearson foi realizada para verificar a associação entre os pares dos atributos por método de polinização. Também foi analisada a influência da temperatura e da precipitação pluviométrica. As medidas do fruto e a permanência do fruto na infrutescência foram maiores na polinização cruzada do que na autopolinização. O aumento dos índices pluviométricos resulta em queda de frutos. O uso de V. bahiana em esforços de melhoramento para o gênero é fortemente sugerido aqui e suportado por estudos publicados anteriormente, que nos permitiram destacar várias características desejáveis: a produção de vanilina; ampla distribuição geográfica e ocorrência em diversos domínios fitogeográficos; formação de populações substanciais; resistência às condições de seca, alta luminosidade e temperatura elevada; extenso período de floração; elevado número de flores por racemo; possível florescimento sincronizado com V. planifolia; e frutificação ao longo do ano. Essas perspectivas são promissoras e devem ser avaliadas não apenas para V. bahiana, mas também para outras espécies de Vanilla restritas ao Brasil. Estudos de ecologia de polinização podem ser usados para estabelecer diretrizes para a conservação do grupo V. planifolia e encorajar o desenvolvimento de estratégias para aumentar a produção de frutos e, consequentemente, de vanilina para usos culinários e aplicações médicas.

Abstract: Vanilla is the most well-known and economically important genus of Orchidaceae in the world. Vanilla bahiana is restricted to Brazil and its conservation status was recently assessed as ‘Endangered’. The species is phylogenetically closely related to V. planifolia, whose pods are the main natural source of vanillin. The primary desirable traits for vanilla production are high fruit set and great resistance to abiotic stress. High temperatures (> 32ºC) and heavy rain favor fungal infection, and thus are indirectly responsible for fruit drop by V. planifolia in cultivation. The aim of the present study was to follow the process of pod ripening of V. bahiana in a restinga fragment in an Environmental Protection Area of Bahia State, and to highlight implications for vanilla crop improvement. Fieldwork was carried out from April 2016 to January 2017. A total of nine manual self-pollinations and nine manual cross-pollinations were successfully carried out. Fruit length, diameter and girth were recorded every two weeks. Fruit permanence in the infrutescence was measured as consecutive days from pollination. Descriptive statistics were calculated and Pearson correlation analysis performed among all attributes per pollination method. The influence of temperature and rainfall was also analyzed. Pod measurements and fruit permanence in the infrutescence were higher for cross-pollination than self-pollination. Higher rainfall results in fruit drop. The use of V. bahiana in breeding efforts for the genus is here strongly suggested and supported by previously published studies that allowed us to highlight several desirable traits: vanillin production, its wide geographical distribution and occurrence in a variety of habitats; substantial populations; resistance to conditions of drought and high luminosity and temperature; extensive blooming period; high number of flowers per raceme; possible synchronised flowering with V. planifolia, and fruiting throughout the year. These prospects are promising and should be further evaluated, not only for V. bahiana but for other vanilla crop wild relatives. Studies of pollination ecology can be used to set guidelines for the conservation of the V. planifolia group and to encourage the development of strategies to increase the production of fruit and, consequently, vanillin for its culinary uses and medical applications.

RESUMO O vinhático (Plathymenia reticulata Benth) é uma das espécies nativas do Brasil, de interesse econômico e ambiental. Sua propagação tem sido realizada por sementes, entretanto, o difícil acesso às matrizes, os intervalos longos de frutificação e dificuldade de armazenamento destacam a importância de técnicas que permitam a propagação clonal da espécie. Estudos conduzidos com minicepas de vinhático, advindas de mudas produzidas por sementes têm demonstrado que, embora as minicepas apresentem boa brotação, o enraizamento das miniestacas é muito baixo. Com isso, objetivou-se neste trabalho, avaliar a produção de mudas de vinhático por miniestaquia, utilizando diferentes técnicas de manejo para induzir o enraizamento. Foram realizados dois experimentos em casa de vegetação, sendo que, no primeiro, as minicepas foram obtidas a partir de mudas produzidas via semente de progênies de onze matrizes, das quais se promoveu a coleta sucessiva de miniestacas, sendo estas submetidas a diferentes concentrações do regulador de crescimento AIB (0, 2.000, 4.000, 6.000 e 8.000 mg.L-1). No segundo experimento foi utilizado o manejo de luz (sombreamento na base da brotação e sombreamento total da minicepa) e de nutriente, com aplicação de nitrogênio (4 g.L-1 de ureia) nas minicepas. As miniestacas produzidas foram avaliadas quanto à capacidade de enraizamento e anatomia na base da miniestaca. No primeiro experimento verificou-se uma variação de sobrevivência e tolerância à poda apical entre as progênies das matrizes analisadas, com destaque para progênie da matriz DOM, que apresentou o maior percentual na primeira coleta (88,2%), e uma sensibilidade das progênies NELI, ZE1 e ZE2 aos efeitos do manejo e às condições ambientais no minijardim clonal. O vinhático respondeu de forma positiva à coleta sucessiva de brotações, com aumento do número de brotações produzidas a partir do quarto mês de coleta (210 dias). Não houve efeito significativo no enraizamento de mudas de vinhático quando submetido a concentrações crescentes de AIB, nem quanto ao tipo de manejo de luz e nitrogênio utilizados para estimular o enraizamento de miniestacas. Não foram observadas barreiras anatômicas ao enraizamento dos clones nos diferentes tipos de manejos avaliados.

ABSTRACT Vinatic (Plathymenia reticulata Benth.) is one of the native species of Brazil, of economic and environmental interest. Its propagation has been carried out by seeds, however, the difficult access to the matrices, long intervals of fruiting and difficulty of storage, emphasize the importance of techniques that allow the clonal propagation of the species. Studies conducted with vinatic minitumps, coming from seedlings have shown that although the ministumps show good sprouting, the minicutting rooting is very low. The aim of this study was to evaluate the production of vinatic seedlings by minicutting using different management to induce rooting. Two experiments were carried out in a greenhouse and, in the first experiment, the minitumps were obtained from seedlings produced from progenies of eleven matrices, from which the successive collection of minicuttings was promoted, these being submitted to different concentrations of the IBA growth regulator (0, 2.000, 4.000, 6.000 and 8.000 mg.L-1). In the second experiment, light management (shading at buds base and total shading of minitump) and nutrient were used, with nitrogen application (4 g.L-1 urea) in the minitumps. The minicuttings produced were evaluated for rooting capacity and anatomy at the base of the minicuttings. In the first experiment there was a variation of survival and tip pruning tolerance among the progenies of the matrices analyzed, with emphasis on progeny of the DOM matrix, which presented the highest survival percentage in the first collection (88,2%), and a sensitivity of NELI, ZE1 and ZE2 progenies to the management in the clonal minigarden. Vinatic responded positively to the successive collection of sprouts, with an increase in the number of sprouts produced from the fourth month of collection (210 days). There was no significant effect on rooting of vinatic plants when submitted to increasing concentrations of IBA, nor on the type of light and nitrogen management used to stimulate the minicuttings rooting. No anatomical barriers were observed to the rooting of the minicuttings in the different managements evaluated.
