Abstract: Asphaltenes are ultra-complex mixtures that negatively impact oil refining, production and transportation. The interest in its study ranges from its characterization to define its molecular structure, to the understanding of its interfacial behavior. Asphaltenes present a great diversity of functional groups and different types of associations such as non-covalent ones, hydrogen bonds, coordination complexes and interactions between parallel aromatic nuclei. The objective of this work was to analyze the composition present in asphaltenes extracted from heavy and extra-heavy crude oils using derivative spectroscopy. Asphaltene solutions were prepared in the concentration range of 20 mg/L to 100 mg/L and analyzed with UV-Vis spectroscopy. The selection of zero-order spectra for processing was made based on the sharpness present. The spectra were subsequently processed with OriginPro 8.5, to obtain first and second-order derived spectra. The processing of the zero order spectra was performed with the Savitsky-Golay and Fast Fourier transform (FFT) filters. The derived spectra obtained presented clear signals with the presence of little noise, which made possible the identification of aromatic functional groups, from 1 to 4 rings in the wavelength range of 200 nm to 450 nm. The use of filters improved the quality of the signals and allowed the identification of components and structures present in asphaltenes. The Savitsky-Golay filter increased the resolution of the spectra derived from asphaltenes extracted from heavy crude oils and the FFT filter increased the asphaltenes extracted from heavy crude oils. Morphological differences between asphaltenes extracted from heavy and extra-heavy crude oils were observed by SEM, which maybe related to the composition and aromatic structures present in asphaltenes.

Abstract Background: The incidence of chronic kidney disease is increasing and the native arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is the preferred access for renal replacement therapy due to its durability and low complication rate. Objective: To evaluate clinical characteristics and endovascular rescue treatment. Method: Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study, with data from patients from the Vascular Surgery Service of the Central Military Hospital who presented AVF dysfunction. Results: 70.6% of the patients suffered from type 2 diabetes and hypertension. 64.7% had a history of having two or more central venous catheters. Isolated venous stenosis was the most common etiological feature (70.59%). Primary patency was maintained at 12 and 24 months (52.94%). The most common treatment applied was simple balloon angioplasty (76.47%) with a technical and clinical success of 100%. Conclusion: Isolated venous stenosis was the main cause of AVF dysfunction. Endovascular treatments were effective for AVF rescue, allowing post-procedure patency and functionality.

Objective: To ascertain whether sociodemographic and health-related characteristics known from previous research to have a substantive impact on recovery from depression modified the effect of a digital intervention designed to improve depressive symptoms (CONEMO). Methods: The CONEMO study consisted of two randomized controlled trials, one conducted in Lima, Peru, and one in São Paulo, Brazil. As a secondary trial plan analysis, mixed logistic regression was used to explore interactions between the treatment arm and subgroups of interest defined by characteristics measured before randomization – suicidal ideation, race/color, age, gender, income, type of mobile phone, alcohol misuse, tobacco use, and diabetes/hypertension – in both trials. We estimated interaction effects between the treatment group and these subgroup factors for the secondary outcomes using linear mixed regression models. Results: Increased effects of the CONEMO intervention on the primary outcome (reduction of at least 50% in depressive symptom scores at 3-month follow-up) were observed among older and wealthier participants in the Lima trial (p = 0.030 and p = 0.001, respectively). Conclusion: There was no evidence of such differential effects in São Paulo, and no evidence of impact of any other secondary outcomes in either trial. Clinical trial registration: NCT02846662 (São Paulo, Brazil – SP), NCT03026426 (Lima, Peru – LI). Funded by the U.S. National Institute of Mental Health (grant U19MH098780). Abstract: The Annonaceae family besides its commercial value ( Annona cherimola, , A. macroprophyllata, A. muricata, A. reticulata, A. purpurea , A. squamosa, Annona x atemoya) also produces several active secondary metabolites. Among these metabolites, Annonaceous acetogenins which are exclusive in this family, are reported with insecticidal activity on various species of insects that are crop pests and disease vectors. This review systematizes what is reported in the scientific literature about them: aspects such as the plant species from which the acetogenins come, and the insecticidal potential using the comparative activity index; it also takes into account lethality, morphological, physiological, and behavioral changes, including deterrent and anti-feeding effects. Eighty-five annonaceous acetogenins are documented on thirty species of insects, as well as toxic activities at various stages of development, broad-spectrum, and differential. The studies on Aedes aegypti (Diptera) and Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera) and the activity of squamocin on fifteen species of insects stand out. Annonaceous acetogenins are toxic at low concentrations, considering evaluation standards and comparison with commercial insecticides, and are active at various stages of insect development. The low proportion of studied species of the Annonaceae means the opportunity to find molecules with this biological potential, and an argument for its conservation. Super duplex stainless steels are highly recommended for corrosive environments. However, detrimental phases tend to precipitate in the austenite-ferrite interfaces at certain temperatures. In this study, the elastic moduli of ten specimens of SAF 2507 that underwent isothermal heat treatment at 900 ºC for different amounts of time were determined using the ultrasonic non-destructive technique. These results were validated by nanoindentation, confirming the accuracy of the ultrasonic inspection. An investigation of microstructural changes, employing optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction, enabled elucidation of how these modifications influence acoustic wave attenuation and velocity, as well as the elastic modulus. As the ferrite content decreases and the sigma phase content increases, the attenuation coefficients tend to decay, while the elastic modulus increases until a treatment time of 45 min and remains stable for higher aging times. Additionally, a robust correlation between shear wave velocity and the elastic modulus was identified. environments However austeniteferrite austenite temperatures study 250 90 nondestructive non destructive technique nanoindentation inspection changes Xray X ray diffraction decay 4 times Additionally identified 25 9 2

ABSTRACT The limited temporal completeness and taxonomic accuracy of species lists, made available in a traditional manner in scientific publications, has always represented a problem. These lists are invariably limited to a few taxonomic groups and do not represent up-to-date knowledge of all species and classifications. In this context, the Brazilian megadiverse fauna is no exception, and the Catálogo Taxonômico da Fauna do Brasil (CTFB) (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/), made public in 2015, represents a database on biodiversity anchored on a list of valid and expertly recognized scientific names of animals in Brazil. The CTFB is updated in near real time by a team of more than 800 specialists. By January 1, 2024, the CTFB compiled 133,691 nominal species, with 125,138 that were considered valid. Most of the valid species were arthropods (82.3%, with more than 102,000 species) and chordates (7.69%, with over 11,000 species). These taxa were followed by a cluster composed of Mollusca (3,567 species), Platyhelminthes (2,292 species), Annelida (1,833 species), and Nematoda (1,447 species). All remaining groups had less than 1,000 species reported in Brazil, with Cnidaria (831 species), Porifera (628 species), Rotifera (606 species), and Bryozoa (520 species) representing those with more than 500 species. Analysis of the CTFB database can facilitate and direct efforts towards the discovery of new species in Brazil, but it is also fundamental in providing the best available list of valid nominal species to users, including those in science, health, conservation efforts, and any initiative involving animals. The importance of the CTFB is evidenced by the elevated number of citations in the scientific literature in diverse areas of biology, law, anthropology, education, forensic science, and veterinary science, among others. publications problem uptodate up date classifications context exception (CTFB http//fauna.jbrj.gov.br/, httpfaunajbrjgovbr http //fauna.jbrj.gov.br/ , jbrj gov br (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/) 2015 Brazil 80 specialists 1 2024 133691 133 691 133,69 125138 125 138 125,13 82.3%, 823 82 3 (82.3% 102000 102 000 102,00 7.69%, 769 7 69 (7.69% 11000 11 11,00 . 3,567 3567 567 (3,56 2,292 2292 2 292 (2,29 1,833 1833 833 (1,83 1,447 1447 447 (1,44 1000 1,00 831 (83 628 (62 606 (60 520 (52 50 users science health biology law anthropology education others http//fauna.jbrj.gov.br/ faunajbrjgovbr //fauna.jbrj.gov.br (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/ 201 8 202 13369 13 133,6 12513 12 125,1 82.3% (82.3 10200 10 00 102,0 7.69% 76 6 (7.69 1100 11,0 3,56 356 56 (3,5 2,29 229 29 (2,2 1,83 183 83 (1,8 1,44 144 44 (1,4 100 1,0 (8 62 (6 60 52 (5 5 http//fauna.jbrj.gov.br (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br 20 1336 133, 1251 125, 82.3 (82. 1020 0 102, 7.69 (7.6 110 11, 3,5 35 (3, 2,2 22 (2, 1,8 18 (1, 1,4 14 4 ( 82. ABSTRACT The prediction of traits allows the breeder to guide strategies to select and accelerate the progress of genetic improvement. The objective of this work was to determine the best prediction approach and establish a network with better predictive power for white oat using methodologies based on artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Seventy-eight white oat genotypes were evaluated. The design was randomized blocks with three replications. The models were evaluated with and without fungicide, and prediction models were established using four sets of experiments. The grain yield was used as a response trait the others as explanatory traits. The coefficient of determination was considered to evaluate the proposed methodologies. The importance of the traits was assessed through the impact of destructuring or disturbing the information of a given input on the estimation of R2. For machine learning, decision trees, bagging, random forest, and boosting were used. The traits indicated to assist in decision-making are plant height, leaf rust severity, and lodging percentage. The R2 ranged from 30.14% - 96.45% and 10.57% - 94.61% for computational intelligence and machine learning, respectively. A high estimate of the coefficient of determination, which was larger than the other estimates, was obtained using the bagging technique. improvement learning Seventyeight Seventy eight replications fungicide experiments R trees forest decisionmaking making height severity percentage 3014 30 14 30.14 9645 96 45 96.45 1057 10 57 10.57 9461 94 61 94.61 respectively estimates technique 301 3 1 30.1 964 9 4 96.4 105 5 10.5 946 6 94.6 30. 96. 10. 94.

Abstract In this papper, we analyze the working conditions of domestic workers in Mexico considering aspects associated with income, social security and tax formalization in order to assess the degree of succes of government actions aimed at improving the conditions of this group. For this, we designed an analysis model based on remuneration, job stability, social security and fiscal formalization. Likewise, its main socioeconomic characteristics are considered. For that, we used the microdata from the National Occupation and Employment Survey for the first quarter of the period between 2018 and 2021 to consider the stage prior to the implementation of the pilot test program for the incorporation of domestic workers into the Mandatory Social Security Regime, its implementation, and the two subsequent years. As the main result, it was identified that domestic workers are nowadays a vulnerable and invisible social group in the focus of government attention. They are characterized by a series of factors that aggravate their vulnerability: both due to their origin and their professional activity, which refer us to their historical precariousness.

Summary: The floodplain of the San Pedro River, a fluvial-delta formation, is one of the coastal areas affected by marine intrusion during the last glaciation. In this region, agriculture is the main economic activity; however, intensive agricultural practices, the geological past, current interactions with the marine system and the transport of salts through sediments and water make this area susceptible to soil salinization. To characterize the salinity of the agricultural area of the San Pedro River floodplain, two soil samplings were carried out at 91 sites over a period of two years. Samples were taken from depths of 0.0 to 0.3 m and from 0.0 to 0.1 m to depths of 1 m and 3 m. Fifty groundwater samples were collected. Saturation extracts were obtained (1: θsat) from the soil samples. For the soil and groundwater extracts, the pH, EC, and major cations and anions were determined, the sodium adsorption ratio was calculated in the original and adjusted formulations (SAR or and SAR adj ), and the exchangeable sodium percentage (ESP) was ascertained. The pH, EC and SAR or of the groundwater ranged from 6.94 to 8.37, 199 to 4660 µS cm-1 and 0.16 to 32.30 (mmolc L-1)1/2, while in the saturation extracts, the pH, EC and SAR or ranged from 4.81 to 8.58, 0.08 to 72.4 dS m-1 and 0.11 to 33.09 (mmolc L-1)1/2, respectively. The salinity problems in the study area are closely related to the intrusion of salts from the marine system.

Summary: The Ayuquila-Armería river basin is classified as a priority hydrographic basin in Mexico for its high diversity and for the ecosystem pressure it is subjected to. The objective of this study was to determine the concentrations of heavy metals (As, Cd, Cr, Hg, Pb and Zn) in water and aquatic macroinvertebrates, in addition to physical and chemical parameters (pH, EC and flow) in the tributary basins and the main channel. The present investigation was carried out with samplings in the rainy season in 2015, and in the dry season in 2016, at 18 sites in the basin. Determinations of heavy metals, physical and chemical parameters, collection of aquatic macroinvertebrates and estimation of the flow of the tributaries were carried out at each sampling site. In surface water, only Hg and Pb exceeded the permissible limits for natural waters (0.02 and 0.0015 mg L-1 respectively) in 60% of the sites; in terms of concentrations in macroinvertebrates, the six metals exceeded the permissible limits in the 65% of the sites with concentrations of 0.33 to 7.07 mg kg-1, of these the Hg (7.07 mg kg-1) and the metalloid As (5.19 mg kg-1) were the ones that presented the highest concentrations.

On cuachalalate: to define the vertical and horizontal population structure, to identify the dispersal pattern of the individuals, and observe the period of the phenological phases. 2. On the soil: to determinate the physical and chemical characteristics of the degraded Lithosol of San Pedro Mixtepec, Oaxaca, where cuachalalate is growing. In sites of 1000 m2 all cuachalalate individuals were registered. These were classified by growing stage (saplings, juveniles and trees). To analyze the size hierarchy, the horizontal and vertical structure of the cuachalalate populations was analyzed. The spatial dispersion of populations was estimated with the Morisita Index. Phenological events were recorded in the trees: foliation, female and male flowering, fruiting and defoliation, during one year (2017 rainy season to 2018 dry season). The cuachalalate presented lower (2.0 to 9.5 m) and upper (10.0 to 16.0 m) vertical structure; the horizontal structure showed that saplings and juveniles have diameters < 2.5 cm, and trees of 5 to 10 cm. The spatial distribution of the populations is aggregated. Flowering occurred during the rainy season, fruiting during rainy to dry season of next year, foliation from dry to rainy season of the same year and defoliation from rainy season to dry season of next year. Degraded lithosols tend to be eroded by runoff, are impermeable and hydrophobic. The piedmont soils have physical and chemical characteristics that highlight incipient accumulation processes, which anticipate a transition to an eutrophic regosol, a favorable soil for the persistence of the low deciduous forest.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Artificial intelligence is a basic component of the so-called Industry 4.0, so its introduction into technological processes constitutes a significant contribution to its approach to this paradigm. The objective of this work is to develop and validate a group of technologies based on soft computing tools applied to mechanical manufacturing processes, with the purpose of bringing them closer to the Industry 4.0 paradigm. Methods: Among the tools developed, fine-tuned, and applied, both machine learning techniques were included, such as artificial neural networks, fuzzy systems, and deep learning for modeling and pattern detection tasks, as well as metaheuristics inspired by nature. for optimization. The applications have been aimed at manufacturing processes, such as welding, machining and micromachining, solving problems such as failure detection, quality control and process optimization based on their sustainability. Results: In all the case studies considered, the applied techniques proved to be fully effective for solving the problems posed, both those focused on modeling and pattern recognition, as well as those aimed at optimizing processes. In addition to being widely validated in laboratory conditions similar to industrial ones, the technologies developed were introduced into the productive practice of liquefied gas containers, demonstrating favorable impacts both economically (decreased production costs) and environmental (lower energy consumption in the production process). Conclusions: The effectiveness shown by the artificial intelligence tools applied to the solution of practical problems of manufacturing processes, constitute a valuable set of know-how, with wide possibilities of being applied to various sectors of the industry, allowing their incorporation into solutions. of Industry 4.0, such as digital twins and cyber-physical systems.
