The antifouling booster biocides are frequently studied for toxic effects on the aquatic ecosystems. The present investigation proposes passive silicone rubber samplers as a collection method for biocides, once these methods can concentrate substances in aqueous matrices at very low levels. Through the passive sampler-water partition coefficient (Ksw) and the analyte chemical nature, we can optimize their extraction from the membrane to apply in the sample medium. We used the co-solvent method to determine the Ksw of three third-generation antifouling biocides, chlorothalonil, dichlofluanid, and dichlorooctylisothiazolinone (DCOIT), with log Ksw = 2.24, 4.01, and 2.38, respectively. Improving extraction also led to a recovery range higher than 70%, determinations were carried out by gas chromatography with an electron capture detector. RESUMO: O estudo foi realizado em um ovino, fêmea, de três anos de idade, da raça santa inês, procedente de uma propriedade localizada do município de Santo Antônio de Tauá, oeste do Pará. O animal acometido tinha histórico de exoftalmia no olho esquerdo, secreção nasal e dificuldade respiratória há mais de três meses. Ao exame físico o animal apresentava baixo escore corporal, apatia, assimetria facial unilateral, moderada exoftalmia unilateral esquerda, dispneia mista e exsudação nasal serossanguinolenta profusa unilateral. À necropsia, foi observada grande massa nasal, predominantemente branco-amarelada com áreas vermelho enegrecidas, de superfície irregular, finamente granular, úmida e friável. A massa invadia desde a junção mucocutânea do nariz esquerdo até as coanas, se infiltrava pelos seios nasais frontais, placa cribiforme e alcançava as meninges e a porção frontal do cérebro. À microscopia da superfície do epitélio nasal notou-se severa destruição dos cornetos e dos epitélios, evidenciada por extensas áreas de necrose com muitos debris celulares, ulceração e infecção bacteriana secundária. No sistema nervoso central (SNC) havia meningite piogranulomatosa com acentuada congestão de vasos, focos de necrose e inflamação granulomatosa. O diagnóstico de rinite granulomatosa de origem micótica associada ao fungo Conidiobolus lamprauges foi baseado nos achados da imuno-histoquímica. ABSTRACT: The study was conducted on a 3-year-old female Santa Inês sheep from a property located in the municipality of Santo Antônio de Tauá, west of Pará. The affected animal had a history of exophthalmos in the left eye, nasal discharge, and breathing difficulty for more than three months. On physical examination, the animal had a low body score, apathy, unilateral facial asymmetry, moderate unilateral left exophthalmos, mixed dyspnea and unilateral profuse serosanguinous nasal discharge. At necropsy, a large nasal mass was observed, predominantly yellowish-white with blackish-red areas, with an irregular, finely granular, moist, and friable surface. The mass invaded from the mucocutaneous junction of the left nostril to the choanae, infiltrated the frontal sinuses, the cribiform plate, and reached the meninges and the frontal portion of the brain. Microscopy of the surface of the nasal epithelium showed severe destruction of the turbinates and epithelia, evidenced by extensive areas of necrosis with a large amount of cellular debris, ulceration, and secondary bacterial infection. In the central nervous system there was pyogranulomatous meningitis with marked vessel congestion, as well as foci of necrosis and granulomatous inflammation. Immunohistochemistry showed intense staining of numerous intralesional hyphae for antibodies against Conidiobolus lamprauges. The diagnosis of granulomatous rhinitis of mycotic origin associated with the Conidiobolus lamprauges was based on epidemiological, clinical-pathological, and immunohistochemical data. ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the factors associated with the fear of dental students infecting their relatives with COVID-19 as a result of clinical practice. Material and Methods: Online questionnaires were sent by e-mail and social media to dental students from a Brazilian School of Dentistry. The outcome was "fear of infecting the family." The independent variables were sociodemographic data, personal protective equipment use, adoption of infection control measures, and knowledge and feelings about the pandemic and the future of Dentistry. Data analysis used Pearson's Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests (p≤0.05). Results: With 65 participants, the prevalence of fear was 61.5%. Measures to prevent COVID-19, such as frequent hand cleansing (p=0.028) and avoiding the use of aerosol-generating instruments (p=0.027), not having or not knowing if they have been infected by the disease (p=0.038), and feelings of more significant anxiety during the pandemic period (p=0.047), and that Dentistry will undergo major post-pandemic changes (p=0.020) were associated with fear. Conclusion: Changes in behavior about biosafety and feelings of anxiety and uncertainty about the disease were associated with the dental students' fear of infecting their relatives with COVID-19 as a result of clinical practice. RESUMO O aporte de resíduos vegetais ao longo dos ciclos da cana-de-açúcar favorece o incremento de matéria orgânica e atividade de microrganismos no solo, especialmente nas camadas superficiais. A textura do solo também tem um efeito importante nos processos ecológicos e na qualidade do solo. Nesse sentido, o objetivo desta pesquisa foi avaliar atributos biológicos do solo em diferentes ciclos de cultivo de cana-de-açúcar sob colheita mecanizada, em um Latossolo da região de cerrado do Brasil Central. O estudo foi realizado em áreas comerciais de cultivo de cana-de-açúcar na safra 2018/2019, consideradas homogêneas em termos de condições edafoclimáticas, tendo como fonte de variação entre as áreas os ciclos de cultivo (C1: um ciclo de cultivo; C3: três ciclos de cultivo; C7: sete ciclos de cultivo) e uma área de vegetação de cerrado selecionada como referência. Foram determinadas variáveis microbiológicas nas camadas de 0-0,10 e 0,10-0,20 m. As variáveis relacionados à biomassa microbiana e textura foram submetidos à análise de componentes principais. Áreas com ciclos de cultivo de cana-de-açúcar mais longos apresentaram maior proporção de carbono da biomassa microbiana no carbono orgânico total nas camadas subterrâneas (quociente microbiano). ABSTRACT The contribution of plant residues throughout the sugarcane cycles favors the increase of organic matter and the activity of microorganisms in the soil, especially in the surface layers. Soil texture also has an important effect on ecological processes and soil quality. In this context, the objective of this study was to evaluate soil biological attributes in different sugarcane cultivation cycles under mechanized harvesting in an Oxisol in the Savanna region of Central Brazil. The study was conducted in commercial areas under sugarcane cultivation during the 2018/2019 season, which were considered homogeneous in terms of soil and climatic conditions, with the source of variation among the areas being the cultivation cycles (C1: one cultivation cycle; C3: three cultivation cycles; C7: seven cultivation cycles) and a savanna vegetation area selected as a reference. Microbiological variables were determined in two layers, 0-0.1 and 0.1-0.2 m. The variables related to microbial biomass and texture were subjected to principal component analysis. Areas with longer sugarcane cultivation cycles show higher proportion of microbial biomass carbon in the total organic carbon in subsurface layers (microbial quotient). Abstract Adjustments in Brazilian livestock are necessary to minimize greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, since the largest source of methane comes from ruminants’ enteric fermentation, and of carbon from deforestation. Low-carbon agriculture technologies (LCAT) contribute to mitigating these emissions and this study evaluates the role of these technologies on ruminant forage production in Caatinga. A Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threats analysis was used to elucidate the main features, followed by an Analytic Hierarchical Process, ranking the LCAT, and a risk analysis. Integrated Crop-Livestock-Forest System (ICLFS) is the most recommended technology, followed by Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) and Recovery of Degraded Areas with Pastures (RDA-P). The results can aid in the choice of the LCAT to be implemented by the smallholder in Caatinga, demonstrating the need to strengthen rural technical assistance, so that there is a real benefit to the producer and the environment.

ABSTRACT Background Robotic-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) with intracorporeal urinary diversion (ICUD) is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. We present an alternative technique that preserves the complete mesenteric vascularization during the isolation of the intestinal segment used in ICUD, including distal vessels. This approach aims to minimize the risk of ischemia in both the ileal anastomosis and the isolated loop at the diversion site. Methods This cohort study included 31 patients, both male and female, who underwent RARC with ICUD from February 2018 to November 2023, performed by a single surgeon. Intraoperative and postoperative complications data were retrieved for analysis, employing our proposed mesentery-sparing technique in all cases. The primary endpoint was the incidence of intraoperative and postoperative complications directly attributable to the mesentery-sparing approach in ICUD. Secondary endpoints included other postoperative variables not directly related to mesentery preservation, such as the incidence of postoperative ileus requiring parenteral nutrition and the duration of hospitalization. Results None of the patients experienced intraoperative or postoperative complications directly related to mesentery-sparing, such as intestinal fistulae or internal hernias. The median duration of hospitalization was 6 days, and postoperative ileus necessitating total parenteral nutrition occurred in 19% of the patients. Minor complications (Clavien–Dindo grades I-II) accounted for 27.6% of the cases and major complications (grades III-V) accounted for 20.6%. Conclusion The mesentery-sparing technique outlined herein offers an alternative method for preserving the vascularization of intestinal segments and reducing the risk of intestinal complications in ICUD during RARC. Resumo Introdução/objetivo: esta pesquisa objetiva analisar as competências em tecnologias da informação e da comunicação (TIC) exigidas pelo mercado aos contadores no Brasil. Metodologia: estabeleceu-se como procedimento metodológico a análise de conteúdo, a qual envolveu a verificação de 300 ofertas de vagas para contador promovidas por empresas de todas as regiões do Brasil. Resultados: os resultados indicam que, além de competências técnicas básicas, tais como conhecimento em sistemas de gestão empresarial (ERP, em inglês) e pacotes Microsoft, são exigidos conhecimentos relacionados ao uso das TIC para aperfeiçoar a eficiência e a eficácia da comunicação, à análise de banco de dados, ao suporte das TIC nas tomadas de decisões, à gestão de riscos e à otimização de sistemas organizacionais. A ênfase dos achados acerca da comunicação ressalta o contador como elo entre a equipe contábil e as outras áreas da empresa. Os resultados também evidenciam que há diferenças significativas das competências técnicas das TIC entre os níveis hierárquicos. Conclusões: promover a discussão da atualização e do aprimoramento das competências em TIC na formação dos profissionais da contabilidade no Brasil é considerado como principal contributo do estudo. Além disso, constata-se a necessidade de os profissionais de contabilidade investirem na aquisição e no desenvolvimento dessas competências técnicas a fim de atingir posições hierárquicas estratégicas e destacáveis nas organizações.

Resumen Introducción/Objetivo: esta investigación tiene como objetivo analizar las competencias en Tecnología de la Información y Comunicación (TIC) exigidas por el mercado para los contadores en Brasil. Metodología: el procedimiento metodológico adoptado fue el análisis de contenido, que involucró la verificación de 300 ofertas de empleo para contadores, promovidas por empresas de todas las regiones de Brasil. Resultados: los resultados indican que, además de las competencias técnicas básicas como el conocimiento en sistemas de planificación de recursos empresariales (ERP, por sus siglas en inglés) y paquetes Microsoft, se requieren conocimientos relacionados con el uso de las TIC para mejorar la eficiencia y eficacia de la comunicación, el de bases de datos, el apoyo de las TIC en la toma de decisiones, la gestión de riesgos y la optimización de sistemas organizacionales. La relevancia de los hallazgos sobre la comunicación destaca al contador como el vínculo entre el equipo contable y otras áreas de la empresa. También se evidencian diferencias significativas en las competencias técnicas en TIC entre los diferentes niveles jerárquicos. Conclusiones: como principales contribuciones del estudio, se destaca la necesidad de promover la discusión sobre la actualización y el perfeccionamiento de las competencias en TIC en la formación de los profesionales de la contabilidad en Brasil. Además, se señala la importancia de que los profesionales de la contabilidad inviertan en la adquisición y desarrollo de estas competencias técnicas, con miras a alcanzar posiciones jerárquicas estratégicas y destacadas en las organizaciones.

Abstract Introduction/objective: This research aims to analyze the skills in information and communication technologies (ICT) required by the market for accountants in Brazil. Methodology: Content analysis was established as a methodological procedure, which involved checking 300 vacancies for accountants promoted by companies from all regions of Brazil. Results: The results indicate that, in addition to basic technical skills, such as knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and Microsoft packages, knowledge related to the use of ICT is required to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of communication, database analysis, the support of ICT in decision making, risk management and the optimization of organizational systems. The emphasis of the findings on communication highlights the accountant as a link between the accounting team and other areas of the company. The results also show that there are significant differences in ICT technical skills between hierarchical levels. Conclusions: Promoting the discussion of updating and improving ICT skills in the training of accounting professionals in Brazil is considered the main contribution of the study. Furthermore, there is a need for accounting professionals to invest in the acquisition and development of these technical skills in order to reach strategic and notable hierarchical positions in organizations.

Abstract Psoriatic arthritis (PA) usually presents as oligoarthritis or monoarthritis and can be a diagnostic challenge in the absence of psoriasis background. We report the case of a 57-year-old patient who presented to the Family Physician (FF) after one year of inflammatory signs and onycholysis of the 3rd finger of the right hand. Initial exams showed signs of inflammation from the periungueal tissues to the distal interphalangeal joint, and negative analytical inflammatory parameters. The condition was interpreted in an infectious context and, later, as osteoarthritis, without improvement with the instituted treatments. The disease and the diagnosis delay had significant psychological and professional impact on the patient. This case reports a rare presentation of PA, that could increase the diagnostic suspicion of this entity in Primary Health Care and highlights the role of the FF in the holistic follow-up and management of patient expectations, besides articulation with other specialties.

Relata-se o caso de um paciente de 57 anos que recorreu ao Médico de Família (MF) após um ano de evolução de sinais inflamatórios e onicólise do 3º dedo da mão direita. Os exames iniciais mostravam sinais inflamatórios dos tecidos peri-ungueais até à articulação interfalângica distal, e parâmetros inflamatórios analíticos negativos. O quadro foi interpretado em contexto infecioso e, posteriormente, como osteoartrose, não tendo existido melhoria com os tratamentos instituídos. A doença e o atraso no diagnóstico tiveram significativo impacto psicológico e profissional no paciente. Este caso relata uma apresentação rara de AP, podendo aumentar a suspeição diagnóstica desta entidade nos Cuidados de Saúde Primários, e evidencia o papel do MF no acompanhamento holístico e gestão das expectativas do paciente, além da articulação com as outras especialidades.

Abstract A continuous increase in levels of atmospheric pollution and emission restrictions has forced scientists and engineers to adopt new strategies to improve and develop internal combustion engines. One strategy is based on the development of new simulation methodologies using computational fluid dynamic (CFD) techniques, proposed in the present article. In this study,the dynamic loop methodology with ANSYS Fluent code is proposed to perform the numerical simulation ofa four-stroke spark ignition engine. The complexity of the real case was first simplified with three-dimensional CAD geometry, which was then discretized in ANSYS Meshing, whereby a hybrid mesh was created using prismatic and tetrahedral elements. Simulations for in-cylinder analyses were performed in cold flow and employing common flow parameters, such as swirl and tumble. The mesh quality results were classified as good or excellent, being higher than 0.79 for orthogonal quality criteria and lower than 0.36 for skewness criteria. Turbulent effects were introduced concerning the opening and closing of the valves. It was found that the turbulence increases during the intake stroke up to 90°, and during the power stroke, wherein the of the piston bowl, had a great contributionthat can be seen from the swirl and tumble profile for the engine cycle. In the case of the turbulence intensity, a sharp increase was registered during the admission step up to 90°, at which point the turbulence intensity was 4.0. Resumen: En diciembre de 2019, en Wuhan, China, se detectaron los primeros casos de SARS-CoV-2. En Uruguay, desde el 16 de marzo de 2020 se suspendieron las actividades de enseñanza, deportivas y espectáculos públicos. Varios países reportaron una marcada disminución de las visitas a urgencias. Algunos niños presentaron enfermedades ocasionales o descompensaciones de enfermedades crónicas, consultando en forma tardía con el riesgo que ello implica. El objetivo de este trabajo es realizar una descripción de las consultas tardías durante la pandemia. Se realizó un estudio multicéntrico y descriptivo entre el 13 de marzo y el 29 de julio de 2020. Se definió consulta tardía como los ingresos por injurias agudas con más de 6 horas de evolución, fiebre mayor a 72 horas de evolución, dificultad respiratoria con más de 12 horas de evolución, síntomas agudos, como dolor abdominal, de más de 24 horas de evolución, síntomas de más de 12 horas de evolución en niños con enfermedades crónicas que determinaron descompensación e ingreso. Se incluyeron 27 centros. Se registraron un total de 34.260 consultas en urgencia, se incluyeron 189 niños para el estudio. El promedio de edad fue de 6 años; 17 pacientes requirieron ingreso a unidad de cuidados intensivos (UCI). Predominó la apendicitis entre los diagnósticos al alta. Esta investigación puso en evidencia la existencia de consultas tardías en nuestro país. Esto contribuye a ponderar el impacto negativo de la pandemia en la población pediátrica.

Summary: In December 2019, the first cases of SARS-CoV-2 were detected in Wuhan. In Uruguay, since March 16, teaching, sports and public entertainment activities were suspended. Several countries reported a marked decrease in emergency room visits. Some children presented occasional illnesses or decompensations from chronic illnesses, consulting late with the risk that this implies. The objective of the work is to make a description of late consultations during the pandemic. A multicenter and descriptive study was carried out between March 13 and July 29, 2020. “Late consultation” was defined as admissions for: Acute injuries with more than 6 hours of evolution, fever greater than 72 hours of evolution, difficulty respiratory disease with more than 12 hours of evolution, acute symptoms such as abdominal pain of more than 24 hours of evolution, symptoms of more than 12 hours of evolution in children with chronic diseases that determined decompensation and admission. 27 centers were included. A total of 34260 emergency consultations were registered, 189 children were included for the study. The average age was 6 years. 17 patients required admission to the ICU. Appendicitis predominated among the diagnoses at discharge. This research revealed the existence of late consultations in our country. This helps to weigh the negative impact of the pandemic on the pediatric population.

Algumas crianças apresentavam doenças ocasionais ou descompensações de doenças crônicas, consultando tardiamente os riscos que isso implica. O objetivo do trabalho é fazer uma descrição das consultas tardias durante a pandemia. Um estudo multicêntrico e descritivo foi realizado entre 13 de março e 29 de julho de 2020. Um total de 34.260 consultas de emergência foram registradas, 189 crianças foram incluídas no estudo. A idade média era de 6 anos. 17 pacientes necessitaram de internação na UTI. Apendicite predominou entre os diagnósticos na alta. Esta pesquisa revelou a existência de consultas tardias em nosso país. Isso ajuda a pesar o impacto negativo da pandemia na população pediátrica.

Abstract The incidence of premature birth has increased worldwide, unequally distributed by race/ethnicity. Racism generates economic inequalities, educational disparities, and differential access to health care, which increases the risk of preterm birth. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the factors associated with preterm birth and racial and ethnic disparities in premature birth among pregnant women attending prenatal care at the Brazilian Unified Health System health units in the urban area of Santo Antônio de Jesus, Bahia, Brazil. This study used data from 938 pregnant women aged between 18 to 45 years within the NISAMI prospective cohort. Premature birth prevalence was 11.8%, with a higher prevalence among black than non-black women (12.9% versus 6.0%, respectively). Maternal age between 18 and 24 years was the only factor associated with premature birth. A higher risk of premature birth was found among black women than non-black women (RR 3.22; 95%CI 1.42-7.32). These results reveal the existence of racial and social inequalities in the occurrence of premature birth.

Resumo A incidência de parto prematuro tem aumentado em todo o mundo, distribuída de forma desigual por raça/etnia. O racismo gera desigualdades econômicas, disparidades educacionais e acesso diferenciado à saúde, o que aumenta o risco de parto prematuro. Assim, este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar os fatores associados à prematuridade e disparidades raciais e étnicas no parto prematuro entre gestantes atendidas durante o pré-natal em unidades de saúde do Sistema Único de Saúde na zona urbana de Santo Antônio de Jesus, Bahia, Brasil. Este estudo utilizou dados de 938 mulheres grávidas com idade entre 18 e 45 anos dentro da coorte prospectiva do NISAMI. A prevalência de prematuridade foi de 11,8%, sendo maior entre as negras do que entre as não negras (12,9% versus 6,0%, respectivamente). A idade materna entre 18 e 24 anos foi o único fator associado ao parto prematuro. Foi encontrado maior risco de prematuridade entre as mulheres negras do que entre as não negras (RR 3,22; IC95% 1,42-7,32). Esses resultados revelam a existência de desigualdades raciais e sociais na ocorrência do parto prematuro.

Resumo Objetivou-se identificar características indicadoras de precocidade sexual de fácil mensuração e que podem ser registradas em menor idade (idade à primeira concepção - IPC), além de estimar as correlações genéticas dessa característica com aquelas de crescimento e carcaça em bovinos Nelore. A IPC foi considerada a idade em que a fêmea apresentou o primeiro diagnóstico positivo de prenhez. A estimativa dos componentes de (co)variância e dos parâmetros genéticos foi realizada usando modelo animal linear em análises bicaracterísticas. As estimativas de herdabilidade foram moderadas, indicando viabilidade de seleção genética para características de crescimento, carcaça e precocidade sexual. As correlações genéticas obtidas entre o IPC e a idade ao primeiro parto (IPP) foram altas (0,88), indicando a viabilidade do uso de IPC como critério de seleção para parto em idade precoce de novilhas. As estimativas de correlações genéticas entre IPC e IPP com peso aos 120, 210, 365 e 450 dias de idade e características de carcaça foram moderadas e negativas (-0,33 a -0,62). Assim, a seleção genética para animais com IPC e IPP precoces aumentaria o rendimento de carcaça, a deposição de gordura e o peso corporal, embora não afete o peso ao nascer e o ganho de peso diário. Os resultados deste estudo encorajam o uso de IPC em bovinos Nelore, uma vez que esta característica apresentou variabilidade genética em bovinos Nelore, podendo ser utilizada como critério de seleção para melhorar a precocidade sexual. Abstract The aim was to identify predictive traits of relatively easy measurement and which can be recorded early in life (age at first conception - AFCo), besides estimating its genetic correlations with growth and carcass traits in Nellore cattle. Age at first conception was considered the age at which the female had the first positive diagnosis for pregnancy. The estimation of (co)variance components and genetic parameters was performed using a linear animal model in two-trait analysis. The estimates of heritability were moderate, enabling genetic selection for growth-, carcass-, and sexual precocityrelated traits. The genetic correlation obtained between AFCo and age at first calving (AFCa) was high (0.88), indicating the feasibility of using AFCo as a selection criterion for early calving heifers. Genetic correlation estimates between AFCo and AFCa with weight at 120, 210, 365, and 450 days of age and carcass traits were moderate and negative (-0.33 to -0.62). Thus, genetic selection for animals with early AFCo and AFCa would enhance carcass yield, fat deposition, and growth performance, despite not affecting birth weight or daily weight gain. The results of this study encourage the use of AFCo in Nellore cattle since this trait displayed enough genetic variability in Nellore cattle, and can be used as selection criteria to improve sexual precocity. Abstract Germ cell transplantation in fish is a promising technique for surrogate broodstock parents with broader application in aquaculture and conserving endangered and valuable genetic resources. Herein, we describe the establishment of an intrapapillary xenogeneic transplant of germ cells from sexually mature goldfish (C. auratus) males into common carp (C. carpio) males cytoablated with a thermochemical treatment (two doses of busulfan at 40 mg/kg at 35°C). To analyze the presence and development of donor germ cells in recipient testes, donor germ cells were labeled with PKH26, a fluorescent cell membrane dye, before transplantation. Our results demonstrated that thermochemical treatment caused effective spermatogenesis suppression and pronounced germ cell loss. Moreover, transplanted spermatogonial cells were able to colonize the recipients’ testes, resume spermatogenesis, and generate spermatozoa within eight weeks after germ cell transplantation. These findings suggested that recipient testes provided suitable conditions for the survival, colonization, proliferation, and differentiation of donor spermatogonia from a related species. This study indicated that recipients’ testes exhibited a high degree of plasticity to accept and support xenogeneic donor germ cells, which were able to form sperm in a short time frame. This approach has significant implications for assisted animal reproduction, biotechnology, conservation, and the production of valuable genetic resources and endangered fish species. Herein C. RESUMO: A Educação Profissional e Tecnológica brasileira, nos últimos anos, principalmente de 2000 a 2016, vem passando por transformações oriundas de políticas públicas elaboradas visando a sua expansão e reestruturação. Frente a essas transformações, as escolas profissionalizantes são desafiadas a repensarem e ressignificarem a forma como mantêm um elo com a sociedade. Vários aspectos precisam ser observados e questionados no sentido de contribuir para a permanência e o sucesso dos discentes nas escolas profissionais. A evasão discente é um dos problemas enfrentados no ensino profissional, influenciada por diversos fatores que pesam na decisão do aluno em permanecer ou não no curso. Dentre esses elementos, destacam-se as práticas pedagógicas e sua relação com a aprendizagem e a motivação dos alunos, proporcionando um maior envolvimento com a instituição de ensino. Este trabalho teve como objetivo refletir sobre as práticas pedagógicas e a evasão discente no Curso Técnico de Eletromecânica do IFCE Campus Pecém. A referida pesquisa foi classificada, metodologicamente, como aplicada, com uma abordagem qualitativa, com características exploratórias e desenvolvida por meio de levantamento bibliográfico, estudos de casos e relatos de experiência. Os resultados obtidos possibilitaram uma melhor compreensão da ocorrência da evasão no referido curso, elencando as suas possíveis motivações. Foi verificada a grande importância das práticas pedagógicas para a permanência dos discentes no curso, pois que elas contribuem de forma significativa para o processo de ensino e aprendizagem. ABSTRACT: In recent years, mainly from 2000 to 2016, Brazilian Professional and Technological Education has transformed due to public policies aiming to expand and restructure it. Therefore, vocational schools are challenged to rethink and resignify how they maintain a link with society. Several aspects need to be observed and questioned to contribute to students' permanence and success in professional schools. RESUMEN: En los últimos años, la educación profesional y tecnológica brasileña, principalmente de 2000 a 2016, ha sufrido transformaciones a partir de políticas públicas elaboradas con el fin de expandirse y reestructurarse. Frente a estas transformaciones, las escuelas profesionales tienen el reto de repensar y resignificar la forma en que mantienen un vínculo con la sociedad. Varios aspectos necesitan ser observados y cuestionados para contribuir a la permanencia y el éxito de los estudiantes en las escuelas profesionales. El abandono escolar es uno de los problemas a los que enfrenta la formación profesional, influenciado por varios factores que pesan en la decisión del estudiante de permanecer o no en el curso. Entre estos elementos, se destacan las prácticas pedagógicas y su relación con el aprendizaje y la motivación de los estudiantes, proporcionando una mayor implicación con la institución educativa. El objetivo de este trabajo fue analizar las influencias de las prácticas pedagógicas docentes en la evasión de los estudiantes en el Curso Técnico de Electromecánica del IFCE/Campus de Pecém. ABSTRACT This study aimed to identify factors associated with colonization by community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) in adult patients admitted to a Brazilian hospital. This is a cross-sectional study, in which patients underwent a nasal swab and were asked about hygiene behavior, habits, and clinical history. Among the 702 patients, 180 (25.6%) had S. aureus and 21 (2.9%) MRSA. The factors associated with MRSA colonization were attending a gym (OR 4.71; 95% CI; 1.42 – 15.06), smoking habit in the last year (OR 2.37; 95% CI; 0.88 – 6.38), previous hospitalization (OR 2.18; CI 95%; 0.89 – 5.25), and shared personal hygiene items (OR 1.99; 95% CI; 0.71 – 5.55). At the time of admission, colonization by CA-MRSA isolates was higher than that found in the general population. This can be an important public health problem, already endemic in hospitals, whose factors such as those associated with habits (smoking cigarettes) and behaviors (team sports practice and activities in gyms) have been strongly highlighted.
