This study presents a solution to solid waste problems, focusing on spent lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) and iron ore tailings (IOT) from the Mariana environmental accident in Brazil. The approach involves the production CoFe2O4 from LiBs and IOT, which serves as a catalyst for solar photo-Fenton reactions for methylene blue (MB) decolorization and as an electrochemical sensor for ascorbic acid (AA) detection. Chemical analysis showed recycling potential, with 45.22 ± 0.22% m m−1 Co from LiBs and 14.9 ± 1.5% m m−1 Fe from IOT, determined by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP OES) and flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The sol-gel synthesized CoFe2O4 exhibited a crystallite size of 51.9 ± 1.3 nm and agglomerated crystal clusters. Recycled-CoFe2O4 exhibited a 98.1% MB decolorization efficiency in 60 min under solar irradiation and remained above 92.3% in all 7 reuse cycles. The electrochemical sensor exhibited a coefficient of determination of 0.9987, a sensitivity of 3.352 ± 0.0428 μA mol L−1, and a limit of detection of 0.5511 µM in the concentration range of 1.96 to 23.08 mmol L−1 for AA detection. ABSTRACT The mobilization of reserves determines the formation of seedlings during germination, being influenced by seed vigor and adverse stress conditions. Seeds with higher vigor have greater potential for mobilization of reserves, and it can favor performance under conditions of salt stress. The objective of this study was to identify how the mobilization of reserves stored in common bean seeds contributes to the overcoming of salt stress, seeking to identify the difference in hydrolysis and mobilization of reserves among seeds with superior vigor. Seeds from two genotypes contrasting in vigor (BAF44 and BAF55) were used. Salt stress was simulated using sodium chloride, and evaluations were performed at one, three, five and seven days of germination. The variables analyzed in seedling was length, dry mass, and metabolic expenditure, while biochemical analyses of total starch, total protein, total soluble sugars, total soluble proteins, and alpha-amylase activity were evaluated in the embryonic axis and/or cotyledons. The salt stress condition negatively affected the performance of the seedlings, resulting in a decrease in length, mass accumulation, and reduced use of seed reserves, associated with a lower hydrolysis of starch and proteins. This study details the preparation, antileishmanial assay, and in silico analysis of twenty 2-hydroxy-3-(1,2,3-triazolyl)propyl vanillin derivatives. These compounds were synthesized in three steps and evaluated against Leishmania infantum, Leishmania amazonensis, and Leishmania braziliensis promastigotes. Compounds 3s and 3t were the most effective, showing good activity against all Leishmania species tested. Molecular docking indicated that all compounds bind favorably to the sterol 14α-demethylase (CYP51) enzyme from L. infantum. ADMET (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity) analysis indicated good oral bioavailability, non blood-brain barrier penetration, and high gastrointestinal absorption. Posaconazole and compounds 3e, 3s, and 3t remained stable in the CYP51 binding region during 100 ns molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Root mean square deviation (RMSD) and root mean square fluctuations (RMSF) analyses from the MD trajectory revealed significant conformational fluctuations of the CYP51 N-terminal, suggesting occasional expulsion of 3e, potentially explaining its higher IC50 (half-maximal inhibitory concentration) values. Lisdexamfetamine is a prodrug that is converted to d-amphetamine in the body, mainly used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children and adults. Its mechanism involves the enhancement of neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine and dopamine, which are critical for attention and behavioral regulation. With the upcoming patent expiration of Vyvanse®, bioanalytical methods for the quantification of lisdexamfetamine in plasma are needed for use in pharmacokinetic studies. In this work, we developed and validated a sensitive bioanalytical method using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for lisdexamfetamine quantification in human plasma. The method developed was performed for 4 min per sample and using the concentration range of 0.3-100 ng mL-1. Intra-batch, inter-batch and instrument reproducibility, the precision was lower than 10%. Abstract Introduction: Healthcare professionals often contend with significant emotional burdens in their work, including the impact of negative emotions, such as stress and anxiety, which can have profound consequences on immediate and long-term healthcare delivery. In this paper a stress estimation algorithm is proposed based on the classification of negative valence emotions in speech recordings. Methods: An end-to-end machine learning pipeline is proposed. Two distinct decision models are considered, VGG-16 and SqueezeNet, while sharing a common constant Q power spectrogram input for acoustic representation. The system is trained and evaluated using the RAVDESS and TESS emotional speech datasets. Results: The system was evaluated for individual emotion classification (multiclass problem) and also for negative and neutral or positive emotion classification (binary problem). The results achieved are comparable to previously reported systems, with the SqueezeNet model offering a significantly smaller footprint, enabling versatile applications. Further exploration of the model's parameter space holds promise for enhanced performance. Conclusion: The proposed system can constitute a feasible approach for the estimation of a low-cost non-invasive biomarker for negative emotions. This allows to raise alerts and develop mitigating actions to the burden of negative emotions, being an additional management tool for healthcare services that allows to maintain quality and maximize availability.

Resumo Introdução: Os profissionais de saúde enfrentam frequentemente cargas emocionais significativas no seu trabalho, incluindo o impacto de emoções negativas, como o stress e a ansiedade, que podem ter graves consequências no desempenho das suas funções de prestação de cuidados de saúde imediatos e também na sua própria saúde a longo prazo. Neste artigo, é proposto um algoritmo de estimativa do stress baseado na classificação de emoções de valência negativa em gravações de fala. Métodos: É proposto um pipeline de aprendizagem automática de ponta a ponta. São considerados cenários de modelos de decisão distintos, o VGG-16 e o SqueezeNet, que partilham uma entrada comum de espetrograma de potência Q constante para representação acústica. Os sistemas são treinados e avaliados utilizando os conjuntos de dados de fala emocional RAVDESS e TESS. Resultados: O sistema foi avaliado para a classificação de um conjunto de emoções (problema multiclasse) e também para a classificação de emoções negativas e neutras, distinguindo-as das positivas (problema binário). Os resultados obtidos são comparáveis aos dos sistemas anteriormente registados, com o modelo SqueezeNet a oferecer uma pegada significativamente mais pequena, permitindo aplicações versáteis. Uma exploração mais aprofundada do espaço de parâmetros do modelo não foi exaustiva e por isso é promissora para a melhoria do desempenho. Conclusão: O sistema proposto pode constituir uma abordagem viável para a estimativa de um biomarcador não-invasivo de baixo custo para emoções negativas. Isto permite ativar alertas e desenvolver ações de mitigação para a presença de emoções negativas, sendo uma ferramenta de gestão adicional para os serviços de saúde que permite manter a qualidade e maximizar a sua disponibilidade.

RESUMO A alface (Lactuca sativa) é a hortaliça folhosa de maior importância econômica no Brasil, sendo o tipo crespa a mais popular entre os produtores. Entretanto, em regiões de clima quente, a alface apresenta limitações de produção devido ao pendoamento precoce, exigindo o conhecimento do comportamento das cultivares disponíveis no mercado. Assim, o objetivo do presente estudo foi caracterizar o desempenho de cultivares de alface crespa quanto aos aspectos produtivos, fisiológicos e de qualidade pós-colheita, cultivadas em condições de cultivo hidropônico e alta temperatura. O ensaio foi conduzido em condição de casa de vegetação, sendo as plantas cultivadas em sistema hidropônico tipo DFT. A temperatura média durante o experimento foi de 30,33 °C. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado com nove tratamentos (Veneranda, Cristina, Olinda, Mônica, Cinderela, Grand Rapids, Itapuã Super, Crocantela e Simpson Black Seed) e quatro repetições. As cultivares foram analisadas quanto ao seu desempenho produtivo, fisiológico e de qualidade pós-colheita. As cultivares Olinda e Cristina apresentaram melhor desempenho nos parâmetros de crescimento, fisiológicos e pós-colheita. Entretanto, estas cultivares apresentaram características sensoriais distintas. Verificou-se que o pendoamento precoce afetou negativamente as trocas gasosas, a produção e a qualidade pós-colheita das cultivares de alface Veneranda, Mônica, Grand Rapids e Cinderela. Além disso, observou-se que o teor de pigmentos não foi determinante para a expressão do pendoamento. Portanto, este estudo recomenda o uso das cultivares Olinda e Cristina para o cultivo hidropônico em condições de alta temperatura. ABSTRACT Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) is the most economically important leafy vegetable in Brazil, with the crisp type being the most popular among producers. However, in regions with hot climates, lettuce has production limitations due to bolting, requiring knowledge on the behavior of cultivars available on the market. Thus, the objective of the present study was to characterize the performance of crisp lettuce cultivars in terms of their productive, physiological, and postharvest quality aspects when grown under hydroponic cultivation and high temperature conditions. The assay was performed in a greenhouse and the plants were grown in a hydroponic system of DFT type. The average temperature during the experiment was 30.33 °C. The experimental design used was completely randomized with nine treatments (Veneranda, Cristina, Olinda, Mônica, Cinderela, Grand Rapids, Itapuã Super, Crocantela, and Simpson Black Seed), with four replications. The cultivars were analyzed in terms of their productive, physiological, and postharvest quality performances. The Olinda and Cristina cultivars showed the best performance in growth, physiological, and postharvest variables. However, the cultivars had distinct sensory characteristics. Bolting negatively affected gas exchange, production, and postharvest quality of lettuce cultivars Veneranda, Mônica, Grand Rapids, and Cinderela. In addition, it was observed that the pigment content was not determinant for the expression of bolting. Therefore, this study recommends the use of cultivars Olinda and Cristina for the hydroponic cultivation under high temperature conditions. A cardiomiopatia hipertrófica (CMH) é uma forma de doença do músculo cardíaco de causa genética, caracterizada pela hipertrofia das paredes ventriculares. O diagnóstico requer detecção por métodos de imagem (Ecocardiograma ou Ressonância Magnética Cardíaca) de qualquer segmento da parede do ventrículo esquerdo com espessura > 15 mm, sem outra causa provável. A análise genética permite identificar mutações de genes codificantes de diferentes estruturas do sarcômero responsáveis pelo desenvolvimento da CMH em cerca de 60% dos casos, permitindo o rastreio de familiares e aconselhamento genético, como parte importante do manejo dos pacientes e familiares. Vários conceitos sobre a CMH foram recentemente revistos, incluindo sua prevalência de 1 em 250 indivíduos, não sendo, portanto, uma doença rara, mas subdiagnosticada. A vasta maioria dos pacientes é assintomática. Naqueles sintomáticos, a obstrução do trato de saída do ventrículo esquerdo (OTSVE) é o principal distúrbio responsável pelos sintomas, devendo-se investigar a sua presença em todos os casos. Naqueles em que o ecocardiograma em repouso ou com Manobra de Valsalva não detecta gradiente intraventricular significativo (> 30 mmHg), devem ser submetidos à ecocardiografia com esforço físico para detecção da OTSVE.   Pacientes com sintomas limitantes e grave OTSVE, refratários ao uso de betabloqueadores e verapamil, devem receber terapias de redução septal ou uso de novas drogas inibidoras da miosina cardíaca. Por fim, os pacientes adequadamente identificados com risco aumentado de morta súbita podem receber medida profilática com implante de cardiodesfibrilador implantável (CDI).

En los casos sintomáticos, la obstrucción del tracto de salida ventricular izquierdo (TSVI) es el trastorno principal responsable de los síntomas, y su presencia debe investigarse en todos los casos. En aquellos en los que el ecocardiograma en reposo o la maniobra de Valsalva no detecta un gradiente intraventricular significativo (> 30 mmHg), deben someterse a ecocardiografía de esfuerzo para detectar la obstrucción del TSVI. Los pacientes con síntomas limitantes y obstrucción grave del TSVI, refractarios al uso de betabloqueantes y verapamilo, deben recibir terapias de reducción septal o usar nuevos medicamentos inhibidores de la miosina cardíaca. Finalmente, los pacientes adecuadamente identificados con un riesgo aumentado de muerte súbita pueden recibir medidas profilácticas con el implante de un cardioversor-desfibrilador implantable (CDI).

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a form of genetically caused heart muscle disease, characterized by the thickening of the ventricular walls. Diagnosis requires detection through imaging methods (Echocardiogram or Cardiac Magnetic Resonance) showing any segment of the left ventricular wall with a thickness > 15 mm, without any other probable cause. Genetic analysis allows the identification of mutations in genes encoding different structures of the sarcomere responsible for the development of HCM in about 60% of cases, enabling screening of family members and genetic counseling, as an important part of patient and family management. Several concepts about HCM have recently been reviewed, including its prevalence of 1 in 250 individuals, hence not a rare but rather underdiagnosed disease. The vast majority of patients are asymptomatic. In symptomatic cases, obstruction of the left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) is the primary disorder responsible for symptoms, and its presence should be investigated in all cases. In those where resting echocardiogram or Valsalva maneuver does not detect significant intraventricular gradient (> 30 mmHg), they should undergo stress echocardiography to detect LVOT obstruction. Patients with limiting symptoms and severe LVOT obstruction, refractory to beta-blockers and verapamil, should receive septal reduction therapies or use new drugs inhibiting cardiac myosin. Finally, appropriately identified patients at increased risk of sudden death may receive prophylactic measure with implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation.

Resumo A micose fungóide foliculotrópica (MFF) representa 10% dos casos de micose fungóide e, apesar das lesões supraciliares e alopecia serem características, os achados tricoscópicos destes doentes não se encontram bem definidos. Apresentamos o caso de um homem de 50 anos com MFF estádio IB, com múltiplas manchas e placas eritematosas com escama branco-acinzentada fina, madarose e alopecia multilocular do couro cabeludo. A triscoscopia revelou uma diminuição das unidades pilossebáceas, aberturas foliculares dilatadas, pontos negros e ainda cabelos velos e cabelos distróficos. A avaliação do couro cabeludo demonstrou escama esbranquiçada difusa e áreas com vasos punctiformes e vasos semelhantes a espermatozóides. A revisão da literatura mostrou que as aberturas foliculares dilatadas, pontos negros e a escama são achados relativamente incomuns e que os cabelos distróficos são mais comuns nas formas avançadas de MFF. No futuro, a tricoscopia poderá guiar o diagnóstico diferencial e definir o limiar de biópsia destes doentes.

Abstract Folliculotropic mycosis fungoides (FMF) represents 10% of all mycosis fungoides cases and even though supraciliary lesions and alopecia are characteristic, there are few published papers documenting trichoscopic findings in these patients. We report the case of a 50-year-old man who presented to our department with FMF stage IB. Clinical findings included disseminated erythematous patches and plaques with a fine white-grayish scale, madarosis, and multifocal patchy alopecia of the scalp. Trichoscopy revealed a decreased number of pilosebaceous units, dilated follicular openings, black dots, vellus, and dystrophic hairs. Examination of the scalp presented widespread white scaling and areas with dotted and spermatozoa-like vessels. A revision of the literature showed that dilated follicular openings, black dots, and scale were less frequent findings in FMF, and dystrophic hairs were more common in advanced FMF. In the future, trichoscopic evaluation might guide differential diagnosis and define the threshold to biopsy lesions to identify early disease.

Resumo Objetivo: O herpes genital (HG) é uma das infeções sexualmente transmissíveis (IST) mais comuns. As infeções genitais pelo vírus herpes simples tipo 1 (HSV-1) têm aumentado, com uma mudança no sentido da sua predominância em muitos países desenvolvidos. O objetivo deste estudo foi caracterizar a população com HG diagnosticada no Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Lisboa Central, Lisboa, Portugal. Métodos: Foi realizada uma análise retrospetiva dos diagnósticos de HG confirmados laboratorialmente entre 2017 e 2021. O diagnóstico foi estabelecido por PCR em tempo real, em amostras colhidas por zaragatoa de lesões mucocutâneas suspeitas. Foram revistos os registos clínicos dos doentes incluídos e analisados os dados de interesse. Resultados: No período de estudo, 239 doentes foram diagnosticados com HG, dos quais 76.6% (n = 183) foram causados pelo HSV tipo 2 (HSV-2). A maioria dos doentes eram do sexo masculino (68%; n = 163), com idade média de 35.7 anos. Em comparação com o grupo diagnosticado com HSV-2, a idade média foi significativamente menor no grupo HSV-1 (28.6 anos vs. 37.9; p < 0.001) e a proporção de doentes com manifestação clínica inicial de HG foi significativamente maior neste último (67.8% vs. 30%; p < 0.001). A infeção concomitante pelo vírus da imunodeficiência humana foi detetada em 17.6% dos indivíduos, sendo significativamente mais prevalente entre homens e no grupo HSV-2 (p = 0.018). Conclusões: O HSV-2 foi a causa mais comum de HG durante todo o estudo. Ainda assim, à semelhança de outros estudos europeus, os doentes com HSV-1 eram mais jovens e a proporção de infeção inicial neste grupo foi significativamente maior.

Abstract Objective: Genital herpes (GH) is one of the most common sexual transmitted infections. Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) genital infections have been increasing, with a shift toward its predominance in many developed countries. The aim of this study was to characterize the population with GH diagnosed in Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Lisboa Central, Lisbon, Portugal. Methods: A retrospective analysis of all laboratory-confirmed diagnosis of GH between 2017 and 2021 was conducted. The diagnosis was established by real-time polymerase chain reaction, in samples collected by swabbing suspicious mucocutaneous lesions. Medical records of included patients were reviewed and data of interest analyzed. Results: During the studied period, a total of 239 patients were diagnosed with GH, from which 76.6% (n = 183) were caused by HSV type 2 (HSV-2). Most patients were men (68%; n = 163), with a mean age of 35.7 years. Compared to the group diagnosed with HSV-2, the mean age was significantly lower in the HSV-1 group (28.6 years vs. 37.9; p < 0.001) and the proportion of patients with first clinical manifestations of GH was significantly higher in the latest (67.8% vs. 30%; p < 0.001). RESUMO: A criopreservação de germoplasma vegetal em temperaturas ultrabaixas é uma alternativa para o armazenamento em longo prazo de sementes do gênero Coffea sp. Entretanto, para que essa técnica apresente sucesso, a realização de pesquisas que garantam a manutenção da integridade celular em todas as etapas do processo é de fundamental importância. O objetivo com o presente trabalho foi investigar protocolos de criopreservação validados para sementes de Coffea arabica L., avaliando separadamente, os efeitos sobre as características fisiológicas e bioquímicas das sementes, em cada etapa do processo. As sementes foram secadas em sílica gel ou em solução salina saturada, submetidas ou não ao pré-resfriamento em biocongelador, em seguida imersas no nitrogênio e reaquecidas em banho-maria. Após cada uma dessas etapas, a qualidade fisiológica e bioquímica das sementes foi determinada. O pré-resfriamento é uma etapa que pode ser dispensada na criopreservação de sementes de Coffea arabica, sendo mais indicada a imersão direta em nitrogênio líquido. Sementes de Coffea arabica L. toleram a criopreservação após secagem rápida em sílica gel até teores de água de 17 ou 20% (wb), com maior sobrevivência a 17%. ABSTRACT: The cryopreservation of plant germplasm at ultralow temperatures is an alternative technique for the long-term storage of seeds of the genus Coffea sp. However, for this technique to be successful, cell integrity must be maintained at all stages of the process on the basis of scientific research. The present study investigated validated cryopreservation protocols for Coffea arabica L. seeds and evaluate the effects on the physiological and biochemical characteristics of the seeds at each stage of the process. Seeds were dried on silica gel or with saturated saline solution, precooled or not in a biofreezer, immersed in nitrogen, and reheated in a water bath. After each of these steps, the physiological and biochemical quality of the seeds was determined. Pre-cooling is a step that can be dispensed with in the cryopreservation of Coffea arabica seeds, direct immersion in liquid nitrogen being more indicated. Coffea arabica L. seeds tolerate cryopreservation after rapid drying in silica gel up to water contents of 17 or 20% (wb), with greater survival at 17%. RESUMO: Uma das principais questões relacionadas ao manejo de leguminosas forrageiras é o fato de que essas plantas podem ser encontradas em uma ampla diversidade de morfológica, estruturais e de hábitos de crescimento. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar características morfológicas, estruturais e produtivas de leguminosas forrageiras com diferentes hábitos de crescimento [Clitoria ternatea L.; Desmanthus pernambucanus (L.) Thellung; e Stylosanthes spp. cv. Campo Grande], em resposta a duas frequências de colheita (60 e 90 dias). O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado em blocos, com esquema de parcelas subdivididas e quatro repetições (n=4). O tipo de leguminosa forrageira influenciou no número de ramos secundários, número de folhas por ramo, índice de área foliar (IAF), interceptação luminosa (IL), porcentagem de folhas e colmos (%), razão folha/colmo e produção de vagens (P<0,05). D. pernambucanus apresentou os menores IL e IAF (P<0,05). Stylosanthes spp. cv. Campo Grande e C. ternatea apresentaram maior porcentagem de folhas e relação folha/colmo (P<0,05). Houve efeito da frequência de colheita na porcentagem de produção de hastes, folhas e vagens e na produção total (P<0,05). Frequências de colheita mais longas afetaram de forma diferente as leguminosas forrageiras avaliadas, principalmente o acúmulo de caules em D. pernambucanus, que apresentou aumento intenso após 60 dias de crescimento. A escolha da melhor frequência de colheita para essas leguminosas avaliadas deve levar em consideração a sua forma de uso. ABSTRACT: One of the main issues related to the management of forage legumes is the fact that these plants can be found in a broad diversity of morphology, structures and growth habits. This study evaluated the structural and productive characteristics of forage legumes with different growth habits [Clitoria ternatea L.; Desmanthus pernambucanus (L.) Thellung; and Stylosanthes spp. cv. Campo Grande], in response to two harvesting frequencies (60 and 90 days). The experimental design was completely randomized in blocks, with a split-plot scheme and four replications (n=4). The type of forage legume influenced the number of secondary branches, the number of leaves per branch, leaf area index (LAI), light interception (LI), percentage of leaves and stems (%), leaf/stem ratio, and pod production (P<0.05). D. pernambucanus had the lowest LI and LAI (P < 0.05). Stylosanthes spp. cv. Campo Grande and C. ternatea showed a greater leaf percentage and leaf/stem ratio (P < 0.05). There was an effect of the harvesting frequency on the percentage of stems, leaves, pod production, and total production (P < 0.05). Longer harvesting frequencies affected differently these legumes, especially the accumulation of stems in D. pernambucanus, which displayed an intense increase after 60 days of growth. The choice of the best harvesting frequency for these legumes evaluated should consider the proposal of the usage. In this study, a mixed oxide (SiO2/ZnO/Fe2O3/ZnFe2O4) was prepared using the anode recycled from alkaline batteries and the silt fraction of mining tailings and applied as a photocatalyst under solar irradiation and as a pseudocapacitor. The structure and morphology of the mixed oxide revealed clusters of nanometric particles with rhombic and octahedral shapes. A 23 full factorial design was performed to determine the effect of pH, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), and photocatalyst on methylene blue (MB) decolorization. The maximum efficiency was 96%, obtained using 2.35 × 10-5 mol H2O2 and 20 mg of photocatalyst at pH 3 for 30 min under solar irradiation. This efficiency remained even after four successive decolorization cycles. Pseudocapacitive properties showed that the mixed oxide exhibited favorable characteristics for application as electrochemical pseudocapacitors due to its high capacitance (87.16 F g-1), energy density (27.24 Wh kg-1) at 524.41 W kg-1 of power density, and reversibility (93%). Resumo: Objetivou-se estimar parâmetros genéticos e selecionar genótipos superiores de mangueira, utilizando a abordagem de modelos mistos. Os 16 genótipos, variedades e seleções híbridas, foram avaliados quanto aos caracteres físicos e físico-químicos do fruto, utilizando a metodologia REML/BLUP. A massa do fruto e a massa da polpa de mangueira podem ser selecionadas indiretamente com base no comprimento e no diâmetro do fruto, que são mais facilmente avaliados. Os híbridos CPAC 26394, Lita e Rosa 46 destacam-se quanto ao tamanho do fruto. Os genótipos R12P09, CPAC 2293, Roxa, Omega, Alfa e Lita apresentam frutos de melhorqualidade do que a variedade Tommy Atkins, bastante utilizada em pomares comerciais. Avariedade Roxa apresenta polpa com pouca ou nenhuma fibra, característica muito requisitadapor consumidores e para processamento industrial. Já os genótipos Alfa, CPAC 5895, Ômega, R10P08, R12P09, R13P10, Rosa 2, Rosa 36 e Rosa 46 apresentam polpa livre de colapso interno. Abstract: The aim of this study was to estimate genetic parameters and select superior mango genotypes using the mixed-models approach. The 16 genotypes, varieties and hybrid selections, were evaluated regarding physical and physical-chemical traits of the fruit using the REML/BLUP methodology. Mango fruit weight and pulp weight can be selected indirectly based on fruit length and diameter, which are more easily evaluated. The hybrids CPAC 26394, Lita, and Rosa 46 stand out in regard to fruit size. The genotypes R12P09, CPAC 2293, Roxa, Omega, Alfa, and Lita have better quality fruit than the Tommy Atkins variety that is widely used in commercial orchards. The Roxa variety has pulp with little or no fiber, a trait that is of great importance to consumers and for industrial processing. The genotypes Alfa, CPAC 5895, Ômega, R10P08, R12P09, R13P10, Rosa 2, Rosa 36, and Rosa 46 have pulp free of internal breakdown. The varieties and hybrid selections of mango show variability regarding fruit traits, and the REML/BLUP methodology is efficient for selection of genotypes with desirable fruit traits in mango.
