Teorías subjetivas docentes sobre características personales asociadas al uso del tiempo no lectivo

Abstract: This research aims to describe and interpret teachers' subjective theories about idiosyncratic characteristics associated with the use of non-teaching time. The study is part of a larger investigation into teachers' subjective theories regarding school time. It employs a case study design within an interpretive, mixed-methods framework, conducted in Chile with 12 teachers who were interviewed using a semi-structured format and a time perspective instrument. Data analysis involved open coding and a secondary comparison of qualitative results with findings from the time perspective scale. The results highlight common challenges such as taking work home, which impacts mental health. While some teachers describe themselves as structured and efficient, others struggle to balance family and work responsibilities. Experience influences their time management, showing a variety in the perception of personal versus work time, and revealing a trend toward a future-oriented view, though some exhibit a fatalistic present attitude
Resumo: Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo descrever e interpretar as teorias subjetivas de docentes sobre características idiossincráticas dos professores associadas ao uso do tempo não letivo. O estudo está inserido em uma pesquisa maior sobre teorias subjetivas dos docentes sobre o tempo escolar. A metodologia aplicada foi de estudo de casos sob um paradigma interpretativo, misto, realizado no Chile com 12 professores, aos quais foram aplicados uma entrevista semiestruturada e um instrumento de perspectiva temporal. A análise dos dados envolveu codificação aberta e, secundariamente, a comparação dos resultados qualitativos com os achados derivados da aplicação da escala de perspectiva temporal. Os resultados destacam desafios comuns, como levar trabalho para casa, o que afeta a saúde mental. Embora alguns docentes se descrevam como estruturados e eficientes, outros lutam para equilibrar responsabilidades familiares e profissionais. A experiência influencia sua gestão do tempo, mostrando variação na percepção do tempo pessoal versus profissional e revelando uma tendência para uma visão mais orientada para o futuro, mas com uma atitude presente fatalista em alguns casos
Resumen: Esta investigación tiene como objetivo describir e interpretar las teorías subjetivas de docentes sobre características idiosincráticas de los profesores asociadas al uso del tiempo no lectivo. El estudio se enmarca en una investigación mayor sobre teorías subjetivas de docentes acerca del tiempo escolar. El diseño es un estudio de casos bajo un paradigma interpretativo, mixto, realizado en Chile con 12 profesores a los que se les aplicó una entrevista semiestructurada y un instrumento de perspectiva temporal. El análisis de los datos consistió en codificación abierta y secundariamente la contrastación de los resultados cualitativos con los hallazgos derivados de aplicar la escala de perspectiva temporal. Los resultados destacan desafíos comunes como el llevar trabajo a casa, lo que afecta la salud mental. Aunque algunos docentes se describen como estructurados y eficientes, otros luchan por equilibrar responsabilidades familiares y laborales. La experiencia influye en su manejo del tiempo, mostrando variedad en la percepción del tiempo personal frente al laboral, y revelando una tendencia hacia una visión más orientada al futuro, pero con una actitud presente fatalista en algunos casos

ABSTRACT The limited temporal completeness and taxonomic accuracy of species lists, made available in a traditional manner in scientific publications, has always represented a problem. These lists are invariably limited to a few taxonomic groups and do not represent up-to-date knowledge of all species and classifications. In this context, the Brazilian megadiverse fauna is no exception, and the Catálogo Taxonômico da Fauna do Brasil (CTFB) (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/), made public in 2015, represents a database on biodiversity anchored on a list of valid and expertly recognized scientific names of animals in Brazil. The CTFB is updated in near real time by a team of more than 800 specialists. By January 1, 2024, the CTFB compiled 133,691 nominal species, with 125,138 that were considered valid. Most of the valid species were arthropods (82.3%, with more than 102,000 species) and chordates (7.69%, with over 11,000 species). These taxa were followed by a cluster composed of Mollusca (3,567 species), Platyhelminthes (2,292 species), Annelida (1,833 species), and Nematoda (1,447 species). All remaining groups had less than 1,000 species reported in Brazil, with Cnidaria (831 species), Porifera (628 species), Rotifera (606 species), and Bryozoa (520 species) representing those with more than 500 species. Analysis of the CTFB database can facilitate and direct efforts towards the discovery of new species in Brazil, but it is also fundamental in providing the best available list of valid nominal species to users, including those in science, health, conservation efforts, and any initiative involving animals. ABSTRACT Objective: To report outcomes from the largest multicenter series of penile cancer patients undergoing video endoscopic inguinal lymphadenectomy (VEIL). Materials and Methods: Retrospective multicenter analysis. Authors of 21 centers from the Penile Cancer Collaborative Coalition-Latin America (PeC-LA) were included. All centers performed the procedure following the same previously described standardized technique. Inclusion criteria included penile cancer patients with no palpable lymph nodes and intermediate/high-risk disease and those with non-fixed palpable lymph nodes less than 4 cm in diameter. Categorical variables are shown as percentages and frequencies whereas continuous variables as mean and range. Results: From 2006 to 2020, 210 VEIL procedures were performed in 105 patients. Mean age was 58 (45-68) years old. Mean operative time was 90 minutes (60-120). Mean lymph node yield was 10 nodes (6-16). Complication rate was 15.7%, including severe complications in 1.9% of procedures. Lymphatic and skin complications were noted in 8.6 and 4.8% of patients, respectively. Histopathological analysis revealed lymph node involvement in 26.7% of patients with non-palpable nodes. Inguinal recurrence was observed in 2.8% of patients. 10y- overall survival was 74.2% and 10-y cancer specific survival was 84.8%. CSS for pN0, pN1, pN2 and pN3 were 100%, 82.4%, 72.7% and 9.1%, respectively. Conclusion: VEIL seems to offer appropriate long term oncological control with minimal morbidity. In the absence of non-invasive stratification measures such as dynamic sentinel node biopsy, VEIL emerged as the alternative for the management of non-bulky lymph nodes in penile cancer. Abstract Objectives The present study aimed to evaluate the measurement invariance of a general measure of the perception of governmental responses to COVID-|19 (COVID-SCORE-10) in the general population of 13 Latin American countries. Methods A total of 5780 individuals from 13 Latin American and Caribbean countries selected by non-probabilistic snowball sampling participated. A confirmatory factor analysis was performed and the alignment method was used to evaluate invariance. Additionally, a graded response model was used for the assessment of item characteristics. Results The results indicate that there is approximate measurement invariance of the COVID-SCORE-10 among the participating countries. Furthermore, IRT results suggest that the COVID-SCORE-10 measures with good psychometric ability a broad spectrum of the construct assessed, especially around average levels. Comparison of COVID-SCORE-10 scores indicated that participants from Cuba, Uruguay and El Salvador had the most positive perceptions of government actions to address the pandemic. Thus, the underlying construct of perception of government actions was equivalent in all countries. Conclusion The results show the importance of initially establishing the fundamental measurement properties and MI before inferring the cross-cultural universality of the construct to be measured. Resumen Introducción. El pueblo hitnü vive en condiciones sanitarias precarias, con inseguridad alimentaria y víctima de la violencia sociopolítica en Arauca (Colombia). Además, se sospecha que pueden estar afectados por la exposición a los hidrocarburos del petróleo. Objetivo. Identificar los eventos de salud del perfil de morbilidad y mortalidad de los indígenas hitnü que podrían asociarse con la exposición a petróleo crudo. Materiales y métodos. Se realizó un estudio transversal con indígenas hitnü, durante febrero y marzo de 2021, época de sequía. Se aplicó un cuestionario de hogares y uno individual para recolectar datos del ambiente peridomiciliario, ocupaciones y otras actividades, así como datos sociodemográficos, signos, síntomas y hallazgos de un examen médico. La potencial asociación con los hidrocarburos se exploró considerando tres grupos, según su localización: cabecera de Arauca, resguardo Aspejená (no expuestos) y resguardos de San José del Lipa y La Vorágine (expuestos por su cercanía al río Ele y afluentes). Con listados libres, se exploraron las causas de muerte. El estudio incorporó un riguroso manejo intercultural en todos sus componentes. Resultados. Participaron 576 indígenas de 16 asentamientos. El agua consumida pudo servir como medio de exposición a los hidrocarburos. Los problemas de salud fueron muy variados e incluían enfermedades infecciosas y crónicas, malnutrición y trauma. Las masas en el cuello se asociaron con residir en los resguardos ancestrales (RP=3,86; IC95% 1,77-8,39), territorios potencialmente expuestos al petróleo. Las causas de muerte más relevantes fueron el homicidio, los tumores y la tuberculosis. Conclusión: Por su posible asociación con los hidrocarburos, es prioritario el estudio intercultural de linfoadenopatías entre indígenas potencialmente expuestos al petróleo.
Abstract Introduction: The Hitnü indigenous people live in precarious sanitary conditions, with food insecurity and being victims of sociopolitical violence in Arauca, Colombia. In addition, it is possible that they may be affected by exposure to hydrocarbons found in oil. Objective: To identify the health outcomes of morbidity and mortality profiles of the Hitnü people that could be associated with the exposure to crude oil. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out with Hitnü indigenous people, during February and March, 2021, time of drought. A household questionnaire was applied, and one individual to collect data from the environment around the house, occupations and other activities, as well as data from sociodemographic, signs, symptoms, and findings of a medical examination. The potential association with hydrocarbons was explored considering three groups: inhabitants in Arauca city, Aspejaná reserve (not exposed), and San José del Lipa and La Vorágine reserves (exposed by the Ele river and tributaries). With free listings, causes of death were explored. The study incorporated a rigorous intercultural management in all its components. Results: A total of 576 indigenous people from 16 settlements participated. The water consumed could serve as means of exposure to hydrocarbons. Health problems were very varied, including infectious and chronic diseases, malnutrition, and trauma. The masses on the neck were associated with residing in the ancestral reserves (PR = 3.86; CI95% 1.77-8.39), territories with potential exposure to crude-oil. The most relevant causes of death were homicide, tumors, and tuberculosis. Conclusion: For its possible association with exposure to hydrocarbons, it is a priority to start the intercultural study of lymphadenopathies in indigenous communities potentially exposed to crude oil.

Abstract: This study sought to describe and interpret the subjective theories about the teacher’s professional identity that are constructed and disseminated in the news during emergency education due to the COVID 19 pandemic. A documentary analysis study, qualitative methodology and a case study design were used. The purposive and convenience sampling corresponds to 40 news items from the press written in Spanish, about the teacher in a pandemic and published in different media that were collected through Google News from March 11 2020 and March 1 2020 until November 01 2020. Based on a thematic coding, the results evidenced subjective theories associated with the demanding characteristics, roles, functions, and values with which teachers identify during the pandemic. The analysis showed the different meanings of professional practice and the skills associated with their performance in the press. In the discussion, studies relating to teaching practice were used to interpret these results.
Resumen: Este estudio buscó describir e interpretar las teorías subjetivas sobre la identidad profesional docente que se construyen y difunden noticiosamente durante la educación de emergencia por la pandemia de COVID 19. Se utilizó un estudio de análisis documental, metodología cualitativa y un diseño de estudio de casos. El muestreo intencionado y por conveniencia corresponde a 40 noticias de prensa escrita en español, sobre el profesor(a) en pandemia y publicadas en diferentes medios que fueron recolectadas a través de Google Noticias desde el 11 de marzo de 2020 y hasta el 01 de noviembre de 2020. A partir de una codificación temática, los resultados evidenciaron teorías subjetivas asociadas a las exigentes características, roles, funciones y valores con los que se identifica al profesorado durante la pandemia. El análisis mostró los distintos sentidos del ejercicio profesional y las competencias asociadas a su desempeño en la prensa. En la discusión, se utilizaron estudios relativos a la práctica docente para interpretar estos resultados.

Abstract Antimicrobial resistance is a global public health problem. Root canal microbiota associated with apical periodontitis represents a well-known reservoir of antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs). However, the effect of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in this reservoir is unknown. This study aimed to establish if root canal microbiota associated with apical periodontitis in T2DM patients is an augmented reservoir by identifying the prevalence of nine common ARGs and comparing it with the prevalence in nondiabetic patients. Methodology This cross-sectional study included two groups: A T2DM group conformed of 20 patients with at least ten years of living with T2DM and a control group of 30 nondiabetic participants. Premolar or molar teeth with pulp necrosis and apical periodontitis were included. A sample was collected from each root canal before endodontic treatment. DNA was extracted, and ARGs were identified by polymerase chain reaction. Results tetW and tetM genes were the most frequent (93.3 and 91.6%, respectively), while ermA was the least frequent (8.3%) in the total population. The distribution of the ARGs was similar in both groups, but a significant difference (p<0.005) was present in ermB, ermC, cfxA, and tetQ genes, being more frequent in the T2DM group. A total of eighty percent of the T2DM patients presented a minimum of four ARGs, while 76.6% of the control group presented a maximum of three. Resumo A pandemia da COVID-19 no mundo tem impactado a área da saúde, os setores da economia e da política e também tem gerado consequências psicossociais, repercutindo de forma significativa no campo da saúde mental. Este estudo de revisão sistemática analisou diversos documentos e pesquisas abordando saúde mental e COVID-19, bem como problematicas geradas durante a pandemia. A metodologia de pesquisa envolveu revisão narrativa e integrativa da literatura científica. Na América Latina, os estudos mais recentes apresentam os inúmeros efeitos da COVID-19 em populações vulneráveis: imigrantes, mulheres, crianças, idosos, pessoas em situação de rua, trabalhadores informais, etc. Diante desse panorama, propõe-se que a abordagem dessas questões inclua a coordenação de políticas transnacionais e a definição de uma agenda de prioridades críticas a serem consideradas. Os resultados empíricos de estudos epidemiológicos realizados em âmbito regional contribuíram para o desenho de políticas públicas em saúde mental da população latino-americana com o objetivo de reduzir os efeitos negativos e prevenir riscos futuros de uma pandemia que ainda não terminou.
Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has not only had health, economic, and political impacts, but also significant psychosocial and mental health consequences worldwide. In this article, different documentation and studies on mental health were analyzed, with the aim of identifying the various problems detected during the pandemic. Methodologically, a narrative and integrative review of the scientific literature was carried out. In Latin America, the most recent studies have documented and made patent effects on the various vulnerized populations such as migrants, women, children, the elderly, people living with significant disabilities, people experiencing marked housing and food insecurity, and temporary workers laboring in what has been referred to as the informal economy. In light of this, it is proposed that addressing these issues should involve the coordination of transnational policies and the definition of an agenda of critical priorities to focus and address. For this to come about, it is important that the empirical evidence generated by regional epidemiological studies contribute to the design of public policies on mental health of the Latin American population, so that they reduce the negative effects as well as prevent the future consequences of a pandemic that is not yet over.
Resumen La pandemia por el COVID-19 no sólo ha generado diversos impactos en materia de salud, economía y política, sino también importantes consecuencias psicosociales y de salud mental en el mundo. En este trabajo, se analizaron diferentes documentaciones y estudios sobre salud mental, con el objetivo de recuperar las diversas problemáticas detectadas durante la pandemia. Metodológicamente se realizó una revisión narrativa e integrativa de la literatura científica. En América Latina los estudios más recientes comienzan a visualizar diferentes afectaciones sobre las diversas poblaciones vulneralizadas: migrantes, mujeres, niños, los ancianos, personas quienes viven con una discapacidad significativa, personas en situación de calle, trabajadores informales, etc. Frente a este panorama, se plantea que el abordaje de estas cuestiones deberá contar con la coordinación de políticas trasnacionales y la definición de una agenda de prioridades críticas a focalizar y atender. Para esto resulta importante que la evidencia empírica generada por los estudios epidemiológicos regionales contribuya al diseño de las políticas públicas sobre salud mental de la población latinoamericana, de modo que las mismas logren reducir los efectos negativos como también puedan prevenir las consecuencias futuras de una pandemia que todavía no ha finalizado.

Resumen Objetivo. Reconstruir las teorías subjetivas de profesionales en trabajo social y psicología sobre la disciplina parental. Método. Es una investigación cualitativa con diseño descriptivo. Se realizaron entrevistas individuales a siete profesionales en trabajo social y siete en psicología de la cuarta región de Chile. El análisis de datos utilizó codificaciones mediante el software ATLAS.ti. Resultados. Se demostró que los consejos de disciplina parental se conforman por la formación profesional de pre y posgrado, la experiencia laboral en programas con familias y elementos personales relacionados con historia de vida y parentalidad. Es así que los consejos se basan principalmente en teorías subjetivas y profesionales que se relacionan con teorías formales. Se observan diferencias en los consejos que entregan ambas profesiones.
Abstract Objective. To reconstruct the subjective theories of social workers and psychologists regarding parental discipline. Method. The following research is qualitative, and it was carried out through a descriptive type of design. Individual interviews were conducted to seven social workers and seven psychologists from the fourth region of Chile. The analysis of the collected data was performed through the grounded theory using encodings from the ATLAS.ti. software. Results. It is shown that the pieces of advice regarding parental discipline are strongly influenced by the professional training, the working experience, and some personal elements and conceptions of the interviewed professionals. Some differences are observed regarding the pieces of advice provided from both professional perspectives.

Resumen El rol de las creencias en la experiencia del desastre ha sido poco investigado. En este estudio se analizó cómo personas que experimentaron un terremoto y posterior tsunami, utilizan teorías subjetivas (TS) para explicar la experiencia traumática. El propósito de este estudio fue interpretar las explicaciones que algunas personas elaboraron respecto al terremoto y tsunami vivido en la zona norte de Chile el año 2015. Se realizaron trece entrevistas episódicas, en el marco de un estudio de caso con metodología cualitativa. Como hallazgos interesantes de las teorías surgen cuatro categorías: implicancias de la personalidad en la reacción ante dificultades; existencia de relación entre personalidad y estilo de afrontamiento; poca importancia de la personalidad al momento de afrontar dificultades, y cambio en la personalidad luego de experimentar una dificultad. Estos hallazgos se discuten analizando si estas explicaciones podrían favorecer -o no- el crecimiento y bienestar psicológico posterior a la catástrofe.
Abstract The role of people's beliefs in their perception of disasters has been scarcely studied. This study, we analyzed how people who experienced an earthquake and a subsequent tsunami employ subjective theories (ST) to explain their traumatic experience. This study aimed to interpret the explanations developed by a group of people about the earthquake and tsunami that took place in Chile in 2015. Thirteen episodic interviews were conducted as part of a qualitative case study. The participants' theories were grouped into four categories: the impact of personality on one's reaction to hardships; the existence of a link between personality and coping styles; the limited influence of personality on one's way of coping with difficulties; and changes in personality after experiencing hardships. These findings are discussed analyzing whether the participants' explanations could foster personal growth and psychological well-being after the catastrophe.

Abstract: The main objective of this study is to perform a systematic review of qualitative research on the development of teacher's professional identity (PI) during their initial training. Teacher’s PI is a key variable in understanding the professional life of teachers, with initial training being an especially critical period for their development. A systematic review of the scientific literature published on WOS (Web of Science), Scopus, and Scielo databases is performed from the years 2000 to 2020. Sixty-seven articles are retrieved, of which 33 are selected for qualitative and quantitative analyses after filtering by using inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results show a set of categories that favor the development of PI. This is a developing process in which there are conflicts between subjective and objective dimensions, as well as other dimensions that comprise PI. It is concluded that teacher PI development is affected by initial training, by psychological characteristics, and by socio-cultural factors.
Resumen: El objetivo de este trabajo fue sistematizar la información de estudios cualitativos sobre el desarrollo de la identidad profesional (IP) del profesor(a) durante la formación inicial. La IP del profesor(a) es una variable clave para comprender la vida profesional de los profesores(as), siendo la formación inicial un período especialmente crítico para su desarrollo. Se realizó una revisión sistemática de la literatura científica, utilizando las bases de datos WOS (Web of Science), Scopus y Scielo desde el año 2000 al 2020. Se encontraron 67 artículos, incluyéndose 33 en el análisis cualitativo y cuantitativo, luego de filtrar según criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Se encontró un conjunto de categorías que favorecen el desarrollo de la IP, un proceso de construcción conflictuado entre las dimensiones subjetivas y objetivas de la IP, además de dimensiones que constituyen la IP. Se concluye que el desarrollo de la IP del docente se ve influenciado por la formación inicial, las características psicológicas y los factores socioculturales.

Abstract Background: We are facing a global crisis that threatens the survival of the planet. Although during the last decades a set of measures have been suggested to tackle this global crisis, results have not been auspicious. State of the art: Given the important role of professionals in modern societies, in this work it is argued that a systematic development of professional identity during the initial training is key for sustainable development. It is proposed that this professional identity could be built based on the following dimensions: (a) integration of subjective, professional, and scientific knowledge, (b) creativity to address current and future problems, (c) prosociality, and (d) ecology. The objective of this work is to support such urgency in order to respond to the global crisis and provide suggestions that guide the systematic development of professional identity during the initial training based on these dimensions. Conclusions: From the review of scientific literature, the need to systematically form the professional identity based on the aforementioned dimensions is argued, and suggestions are provided in this regard.
Resumen Antecedentes: nos encontramos ante una crisis global que amenaza la subsistencia del planeta. Aunque durante las últimas décadas se han propuesto un conjunto de medidas para enfrentar esta crisis global, los resultados no han sido auspiciosos. Estado del arte: dado el importante rol de los profesionales en la sociedad, en este trabajo se argumenta que un desarrollo sistemático de la identidad profesional en la formación inicial es clave para el desarrollo sustentable. Se propone que esta identidad profesional podría construirse en base a las dimensiones (a) integración de saberes subjetivos, profesionales y científicos, (b) creatividad para abordar los problemas actuales y futuros, (c) prosocial y (d) ecológica. El objetivo de este trabajo es sustentar la urgencia de lo mencionado para dar respuesta a la crisis global y proporcionar sugerencias que orienten el desarrollo sistemático de la identidad profesional durante la formación inicial, en base a estas dimensiones. Conclusiones: a partir de la literatura científica, se argumenta la necesidad de formar sistemáticamente la identidad profesional en base a estas dimensiones, proporcionando sugerencias al respecto.

RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho foi descrever e interpretar as teorias subjetivas (TS) da convivência escolar (CE), de um grupo de pais e mães de uma escola de educação primária chilena. Uma amostragem teórica foi utilizada e se aplicaram grupos de discussão e entrevistas episódicas em 16 pais e mães de uma escola de educação primária. Os dados foram analisados através da técnica da teoria fundamentada (Grounded Theory), encontrando: (a) teorias subjetivas simples, mas que proporcionam aos pais educar seus filhos na convivência; (b) fatores associados à CE e propostas de melhoria; (c) além de um papel educativo dos pais que se organiza em três níveis para ensinar seus filhos a conviver na escola. Na discussão é analisada a implicação das teorias subjetivas na convivência escolar e no papel parental.
ABSTRACT The aim of this work was to describe and to interpret subjective theories about school coexistence in a group of parents from a Chilean primary school. A theoretical sample was used, group discussions and episodic interviews were conducted to 16 parents from a primary school. Data was analyzed through grounded theory, finding (a) simple subjective theories lead parents to raise their children on an environment-based approach; (b) associated factors with school coexistence environment and emerging proposals to improve them; (c) as well as a schooling parental role that it organizes around three levels of climate schooling teaching. In the discussion section, we analyze implications of these subjective theories into schooling environment and parental role.
RESUMEN El objetivo de este trabajo fue describir e interpretar las TS de la convivencia escolar, de un grupo de padres y madres de una escuela de educación primaria chilena. Se utilizó un muestreo teórico y se aplicaron grupos de discusión y entrevistas episódicas a 16 padres y madres de una escuela de educación primaria. Los datos se analizaron mediante la técnica de la teoría fundamentada, encontrando (a) teorías subjetivas simples, pero que disponen a los padres a educar a sus hijos en convivencia; (b) factores asociados a la CE y propuestas para su mejora, (c) además de un rol parental educativo que se organiza en tres niveles para enseñar a sus hijos a convivir en la escuela. En la discusión se analiza la implicancia de estas teorías subjetivas en la convivencia escolar y el rol parental.

Abstract: The objective of this research study was to reconstruct the subjective theories (ST) of the classroom environment and the instructional time of 24 teachers from low-income schools. Data collection methods included a sociodemographic survey and semi-structured episodic interviews. Collected data were analyzed using grounded theory procedures. The results showed ST facilitators of time management, such as good student behavior and teacher engagement. Instructional time management obstacles included low student drive and interest in learning, teacher improvisation in the classroom, and unfavorable features found in low-income schools. Classroom environment management is perceived as an element that allows students to improve their performance and behavior. It is concluded that instructional time management can be affected by factors such as student behavior and discipline and teacher engagement and approachability.
Resumen: La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo reconstruir las teorías subjetivas (TS) del clima de aula y tiempo instruccional de 24 docentes de establecimientos de grupo socioeconómico bajo. Los datos fueron recolectados mediante encuesta sociodemográfica y entrevista episódica semiestructurada, y luego analizados utilizando procedimientos de la teoría fundamentada. Como hallazgos, se identificaron TS sobre facilitadores de la gestión del tiempo, como el buen comportamiento del estudiante, y el compromiso del docente. Por otro lado, obstaculizadores de la gestión del tiempo instruccional, como disposición desfavorable del estudiante hacia el aprendizaje, improvisación de la clase por parte del docente, y particularidades desfavorables de establecimientos de grupo socioeconómico bajo. La gestión del clima de aula se percibe como un elemento que permite mejorar el rendimiento y comportamiento de los estudiantes. Se concluye que existen distintos factores que pueden afectar la gestión del tiempo instruccional como el comportamiento adecuado y la disciplina del estudiante y el compromiso y cercanía por parte del docente.

Abstract Background: Children undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) can develop respiratory viral infections (RVI) during fever episodes. There are few data about clinical outcomes in RVI and compared to bacterial infections (BI) in this population. Aim: To determine clinical outcome of RVI, compared to BI in children with HSCT. Methods: Prospective study, patients ≤ 18 years with cancer and HSCT admitted with fever at a National Bone Marrow Transplant Center (Hospital Calvo Mackenna), Chile, (April-2016 to May-2019). Clinical assessment, laboratory tests, blood cultures, nasopharyngeal sample for multiplex-PCR (Filmarray®), viral loads by PCR and cytokine panel (Luminex®, 38 cytokines) were performed. The following outcomes were evaluated: upper/lower respiratory tract disease (RTD), admission to ICU, mechanical ventilation, mortality and antimicrobial withdrawal. Results: Of 56 febrile episodes, 35 (63%) were RVI, 12 (21%) BI and 9 (16%) with unknown etiology (UE). Median of age was 8.5 years, 62% male gender. Rhinovirus (54%) and coronavirus (15%) were the more frequent detected viruses. No significant differences in cytokine levels were observed between RVI and BI. 94% of RVI patients had symptomatic RTD, versus 33% in BI and 33% in UE group (p < 0.001), with lower-RTD in 69% of RVI group (p < 0,001). Admission to ICU was 11% in RVI, 17% in BI and 11% in UE group (p = 0.88); only 2 patients required mechanical ventilation (p = 0.37) and no mortality was reported. After an RVI was detected by PCR, antimicrobials were withdrawal in 26% of patients with RVI (p: 0.04). Conclusion: RVI are frequent etiologic agents in febrile episodes of patients with HSCT. Viral detection might help to rationalize the use of antimicrobials in this population.
Resumen Introducción: Los niños que reciben trasplante de precursores hematopoyéticos (TPH) pueden presentar infecciones respiratorias virales (IRV) durante episodios febriles. Los datos sobre su evolución clínica son escasos, así como la comparación de ellos con infecciones bacterianas (IB). Objetivo: Caracterizar la evolución clínica de pacientes con IRV, en comparación con IB en niños con TPH, cursando un episodio febril. Método: Estudio prospectivo en pacientes ≤ 18 años con cáncer y TPH ingresados por fiebre en el Hospital Luis Calvo Mackenna (2016-2019). Se realizó evaluación clínica y de laboratorio: hemocultivos, RPC para patógenos respiratorios (Filmarray®), cuantificación viral y medición de citoquinas en muestra nasal (Luminex®, 38 citoquinas). Se compararon los grupos IRV, IB y los de etiología no precisada (ENP) en relación con: infección respiratoria aguda (IRA), citoquinas nasales, ingreso a UCI, necesidad de ventilación mecánica, mortalidad y suspensión de antimicrobianos. Resultados: De 56 episodios febriles, 35 fueron IRV, 12 IB y 9 de ENP. Mediana de edad fue 8,5 años, 62% masculino. Un 94% de los casos IRV presentó IRA sintomática, versus 33% en los grupos IB y ENP (p < 0,001), con IRA baja en 69% de las IRV (p < 0,001). Rinovirus (54%) y coronavirus (15%) fueron las etiologías más frecuentemente detectadas. No hubo diferencias en citoquinas nasales entre los grupos IRV e IB. Ingreso a UCI: 11% del grupo IRV, 17% de IB y 11% de ENP (p = 0,88). Requirieron ventilación mecánica sólo 2 pacientes (p = 0,37) sin fallecimiento. Tras la detección viral respiratoria por RPC, se suspendió antimicrobianos en 26% de los casos con IRV (p = 0,04). Conclusión: Las IRV son frecuentes en niños con TPH y episodios febriles. La detección viral podría optimizar y racionalizar el uso de antimicrobianos en esta población.
