Introduction: Burns are injuries caused by various agents that promote the destruction of the skin and can lead to the exposure of deeper tissues. To make better use of this variety of treatment options, it is important to know its causes, extent and treatment methods. Objective: Update the use of nanocellulose membranes with glycerol, vascular endothelial growth factor and other complements in burn healing. Method: Review carried out with material and analysis selected from research on virtual platforms (SciELO, Google Scholar, Virtual Health Library, Pubmed and Scopus) using the descriptors: “bacterial membrane proteins; vascular endothelial growth factor; VEGFR; biological dressings; dressings” with AND or OR search, considering the title and/or abstract. Afterwards, the articles were read in full. Result: 45 articles were included. Conclusion: Although more research is needed, published studies show that the enrichment of nanocellulose membranes with some additives such as Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor VEGF) and incorporation of sensors that can monitor wound conditions will result in highly effective dressings. Considering the technological advances to produce low-cost membranes, associated with artificial intelligence and the efforts of researchers, the benefit to public health will soon be evident.

Introdução: Queimaduras são lesões causadas por diversos agentes que promovem a destruição da pele podendo chegar à exposição de tecidos mais profundos. Para melhor uso desta variedade de opções de seu tratamento é importante conhecer-se suas causas, extensão e métodos de tratamento. Objetivo: Atualizar o uso de membranas de nanocelulose, fator de crescimento do endotélio vascular e outros complementos na cicatrização de queimaduras. Método: Revisão feita com material e análise selecionados a partir de pesquisa em plataformas virtuais (SciELO, Google Scholar, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, Pubmed e Scopus) por meio dos descritores: “proteínas da membrana bacteriana; fator de crescimento do endotélio vascular; VEGFR; curativos biológicos; curativos” e seus equivalentes em inglês “bacterial outer membrane proteins; vascular endothelial growth fator; dressing; VEGFR; biological dressings” com busca AND ou OR, considerando o título e/ou resumo. Após, foi feita leitura na íntegra dos artigos. Resultado: Foram incluídos 45 artigos. Conclusão: Embora sejam necessárias mais pesquisas, estudos já publicados evidenciam que o enriquecimento das membranas de nanocelulose com alguns aditivos como o Fator de Crescimento do Endotélio Vascular VEGF) e incorporação de sensores que possam monitorar as condições das feridas resultará em curativos altamente eficazes. Considerando o avanço tecnológico para produzir membranas de baixo custo, associado à inteligência artificial e os esforços dos pesquisadores, em breve o benefício à saúde pública será evidente.

Resumen En este artículo, investigo la materialidad de la edición brasileña de Methodo Zaba (1870), de autoría del polaco Napoleão Félix Zaba (1803-1885), buscando revelar relaciones con las prácticas escolares observables en los registros producidos, en 1871, por dos profesores de escuelas públicas de Bahía: José Lourenço Ferreira Cajaty y João Theodoro Araponga. Abstract In this paper, I investigate the materiality of the Brazilian edition of Zaba’s Method, authored by Polish writer Napoleon Felix Zaba, aiming to unveil its connections with observable school practices based on records produced in 1871 by two teachers in Bahia’s public education system: José Lourenço Ferreira Cajaty and João Theodoro Araponga. This is a bibliographic and documentary research. By addressing the printed material as a multifaceted cultural artifact (Chartier, 1990, 1998) and a product of the educational industry (Meda, 2015), I present the formal characteristics and content of this educational resource. Resumo: Objetivou-se estimar parâmetros genéticos e selecionar genótipos superiores de mangueira, utilizando a abordagem de modelos mistos. Os 16 genótipos, variedades e seleções híbridas, foram avaliados quanto aos caracteres físicos e físico-químicos do fruto, utilizando a metodologia REML/BLUP. A massa do fruto e a massa da polpa de mangueira podem ser selecionadas indiretamente com base no comprimento e no diâmetro do fruto, que são mais facilmente avaliados. Os híbridos CPAC 26394, Lita e Rosa 46 destacam-se quanto ao tamanho do fruto. Os genótipos R12P09, CPAC 2293, Roxa, Omega, Alfa e Lita apresentam frutos de melhorqualidade do que a variedade Tommy Atkins, bastante utilizada em pomares comerciais. Avariedade Roxa apresenta polpa com pouca ou nenhuma fibra, característica muito requisitadapor consumidores e para processamento industrial. Já os genótipos Alfa, CPAC 5895, Ômega, R10P08, R12P09, R13P10, Rosa 2, Rosa 36 e Rosa 46 apresentam polpa livre de colapso interno. Abstract: The aim of this study was to estimate genetic parameters and select superior mango genotypes using the mixed-models approach. The 16 genotypes, varieties and hybrid selections, were evaluated regarding physical and physical-chemical traits of the fruit using the REML/BLUP methodology. Mango fruit weight and pulp weight can be selected indirectly based on fruit length and diameter, which are more easily evaluated. The hybrids CPAC 26394, Lita, and Rosa 46 stand out in regard to fruit size. The genotypes R12P09, CPAC 2293, Roxa, Omega, Alfa, and Lita have better quality fruit than the Tommy Atkins variety that is widely used in commercial orchards. The Roxa variety has pulp with little or no fiber, a trait that is of great importance to consumers and for industrial processing. The genotypes Alfa, CPAC 5895, Ômega, R10P08, R12P09, R13P10, Rosa 2, Rosa 36, and Rosa 46 have pulp free of internal breakdown. The varieties and hybrid selections of mango show variability regarding fruit traits, and the REML/BLUP methodology is efficient for selection of genotypes with desirable fruit traits in mango. ABSTRACT Women living with human immunodeficiency virus are at an increased risk of developing cancers related to human papillomavirus (HPV). Thus, it is important to combine clinical assessments, serological screening, and HPV data for planning prevention policies. This study aimed to identify HPV and its specific types in the cervical, anal, and oral mucosa of HIV-seropositive women, associating it with viral load and lymphocyte count. Sociodemographic characteristics, health data (CD4+ and CD8+ T cell counts and viral load), and biological samples (cervical, anal, and oral) were collected from 86 HIV-positive women undergoing antiretroviral therapy. Data were classified according to the presence or absence of HPV-DNA, HPV-DNA presence at one or more anatomic sites, and level of oncogenic risk, considering low- and high-risk oncogenic HPV-DNA groups. The presence of HPV in the cervicovaginal site was 65.9%, 63.8% in anal canal, and 4.2% in oral mucosa. A viral load ≥75 HIV copies/mL was associated with the presence of HPV-DNA. There was an association between viral load and the low-risk HPV or high-risk HPV groups. We found a high prevalence of HPV infection in HIV-seropositive women, particularly in the cervical and anal mucosa, with viral load ≥75 HIV copies/mL being associated with HPV-DNA presence. HPV. . Resumo Objetivo: Analisar o primeiro serviço de referência em doenças raras credenciado pelo Ministério da Saúde, com foco no encaminhamento desde a rede primária até o diagnóstico. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo com pacientes atendimentos entre 2016 e 2021 em serviço hospitalar de referência localizado de Curitiba. Dados clínicos e epidemiológicos foram obtidos de registros médicos e os resultados de exames genéticos do laboratório de análises clínicas do hospital. Dados qualitativos foram expressos como frequência absoluta e relativa, e os quantitativos por mediana e intervalo interquartil e comparados pelo teste Kruskal-Wallis. Resultados: Foram incluídos 1.751 pacientes, 34,1% obtiveram diagnóstico de doenças raras, com tempo médio de 3,0 anos, sendo a mucopolissacaridose tipo II (4,0%) e esclerose tuberal (3,9%) as mais frequentes. Maior tempo até obter diagnóstico (p-valor 0,004) e atendimento especializado (p-valor<0,001) foram observados em pacientes do interior do Paraná, em comparação com aqueles que residem em Curitiba e região metropolitana. Conclusão: O diagnóstico de doenças raras ocorreu em cerca de um terço dos casos. O tempo médio até o diagnóstico sugere possível impacto positivo da implementação do serviço de referência. Maior tempo até o diagnóstico e atendimento especializado observado em pacientes do interior do Paraná representam desafios no encaminhamento adequado para unidades especializadas.

Abstract Objective: To analyze the first referral service for rare diseases accredited by the Brazilian Ministry of Health, focusing on referral from the primary healthcare network through to diagnosis. Methods: This is a descriptive study with patients treated between 2016 and 2021 at a referral hospital service located in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. Clinical and epidemiological data were obtained from medical records, as were the results of genetic tests at the hospital’s clinical analysis laboratory. Qualitative data were expressed as absolute and relative frequencies, while quantitative data were expressed as medians and interquartile ranges and compared using the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: The study included 1,751 cases, 34.1% were diagnosed with rare diseases, with average time until diagnosis being 3.0 years, whereby mucopolysaccharidosis type II (4.0%) and tuberous sclerosis (3.9%) were the most common. Greater length of time for obtaining diagnosis (p-value 0.004) and receiving specialized care (p-value<0.001) was found in patients from the interior region of Paraná state, compared to those residing in Curitiba city and its metropolitan region. Conclusion: Diagnosis of rare diseases occurred in approximately one third of cases. The average time until diagnosis suggests a possible positive impact of implementing the referral service. The longer time until diagnosis and specialized care found among patients from the interior region of Paraná represent challenges regarding adequate referral to specialized services.

Resumen Objetivo: Analizar el primer servicio de referencia de enfermedades raras acreditado por el Ministerio de Salud, centrándose en la derivación desde la red primaria al diagnóstico. Métodos: Se trata de un estudio descriptivo con pacientes atendidos entre 2016 y 2021 en un servicio hospitalario de referencia ubicado en Curitiba, Paraná, Brasil. Los datos clínicos y epidemiológicos se obtuvieron de los registros médicos y de los resultados de las pruebas genéticas del laboratorio de análisis clínicos del hospital. Los datos cualitativos se expresaron como frecuencias absolutas y relativas, y los datos cuantitativos como mediana y rango intercuartílico y se compararon mediante la prueba de Kruskal-Wallis. Resultados: Se incluyeron 1.751 pacientes, el 34,1% fueron diagnosticados con enfermedades raras, con un tiempo promedio de 3,0 años, siendo las más frecuentes la mucopolisacaridosis tipo II (4,0%) y la esclerosis tuberosa (3,9%). Se observó mayor tiempo para obtener el diagnóstico (valor de p-valor 0,004) y atención especializada (valor de p-valor<0,001) en los pacientes del interior de Paraná, en comparación con los residentes en Curitiba y la región metropolitana. Conclusión: El diagnóstico de enfermedades raras se produjo en aproximadamente un tercio de los casos. El tiempo medio hasta el diagnóstico sugiere un posible impacto positivo de la implementación del servicio de referencia. El mayor tiempo hasta el diagnóstico y la atención especializada observados en pacientes del interior de Paraná representan desafíos en la adecuada derivación a unidades especializadas.

RESUMO Objetivo Descrever o perfil dos casos de mpox na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, entre junho e novembro de 2022. Métodos Estudo descritivo de dados secundários das fichas de notificação de mpox. Foram analisados dados socioeconômicos, clínicos e espaciais. Resultados Dos 928 casos, 93,7% foram do sexo masculino, 85,0% homem cisgênero, 65,6% homossexual, 41,8% entre 30 e 39 anos e 41,0% brancos. Apresentavam imunodepressão por doença 34,5%, e 41,9% informaram sorologia positiva prévia para vírus da imunodeficiência humana. Os sinais e sintomas mais prevalentes foram: lesões cutâneas (96,6%), especialmente com manifestações múltiplas (67,8%) e em região genital (46,1%), além de febre (58,3%), adenomegalia (43,3%) e cefaleia (38,7%). A maioria das notificações ocorreu na rede pública (81,3%) e na atenção hospitalar (51,3%). Conclusão O estudo revelou maior incidência de mpox entre homens cisgênero, autodeclarados de cor branca e homossexual. A maioria dos casos teve apresentação leve evoluindo para cura sem hospitalização. ABSTRACT Objective To describe the profile of cases of mpox in the city of Rio de Janeiro between June and November 2022. Resumo Antecedentes Encefalites autoimunes (EAIs) são um grupo de doenças inflamatórias caracterizadas pela presença de anticorpos contra antígenos neuronais e gliais, que ocasionam sintomas psiquiátricos subagudos, queixas de memória e distúrbios anormais do movimento. A maioria dos pacientes é jovem, e o atraso no tratamento está associado a pior prognóstico. Objetivo Com o apoio da Academia Brasileira de Neurologia (ABN) e da Sociedade Brasileira de Neurologia Infantil (SBNI), desenvolvemos um consenso sobre o diagnóstico e o tratamento da EAIs no Brasil utilizando a metodologia Delphi. Métodos Um total de 25 especialistas, incluindo neurologistas e neurologistas infantis, foram convidados a participar. Resultados Os especialistas concordaram que os pacientes com critérios de possíveis EAIs devem ser submetidos ao rastreio de anticorpos antineuronais no soro e no líquido cefalorraquidiano (LCR) por meio das técnicas de ensaio baseado em tecidos (tissue-based assay, TBA, em inglês) e ensaio baseado em células (cell-based assay, CBA, em inglês). As crianças também devem ser submetidas ao rastreio de de anticorpo contra a glicoproteína da mielina de oligodendrócitos (anti-myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein, anti-MOG, em inglês). O tratamento deve ser iniciado dentro das primeiras 4 semanas dos sintomas, sendo as opções de primeira linha metilprednisolona combinada com imunoglobulina intravenosa (IGIV) ou plasmaférese. O tratamento de segunda linha inclui rituximabe e ciclofosfamida. Bortezomib e tocilizumab são opções de tratamento de terceira linha. A maioria das crises epilépticas nas EAIs são sintomáticas, e os fármacos anticrise podem ser desmamadas após a fase aguda. Em relação à encefalite antirreceptor de N-metil-D-aspartato (anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor, anti-NMDAR, em inglês), os especialistas concordaram que agentes imunossupressores orais não devem ser usados. Os pacientes devem ser avaliados na fase aguda e pós-aguda mediante escalas funcionais e cognitivas, como Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), Modified Rankin Scale (mRS), e Clinical Assessment Scale in Autoimmune Encephalitis (CASE). Abstract Background Autoimmune encephalitis (AIE) is a group of inflammatory diseases characterized by the presence of antibodies against neuronal and glial antigens, leading to subacute psychiatric symptoms, memory complaints, and movement disorders. The patients are predominantly young, and delays in treatment are associated with worse prognosis. Objective With the support of the Brazilian Academy of Neurology (Academia Brasileira de Neurologia, ABN) and the Brazilian Society of Child Neurology (Sociedade Brasileira de Neurologia Infantil, SBNI), a consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of AIE in Brazil was developed using the Delphi method. Methods A total of 25 panelists, including adult and child neurologists, participated in the study. Results The panelists agreed that patients fulfilling criteria for possible AIE should be screened for antineuronal antibodies in the serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) using the tissue-based assay (TBA) and cell-based assay (CBA) techniques. Children should also be screened for anti-myelin oligodendrocyte glucoprotein antibodies (anti-MOG). Treatment should be started within the first 4 weeks of symptoms. The first-line option is methylprednisolone plus intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) or plasmapheresis, the second-line includes rituximab and/or cyclophosphamide, while third-line treatment options are bortezomib and tocilizumab. Most seizures in AIE are symptomatic, and antiseizure medications may be weaned after the acute stage. In anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDAR) encephalitis, the panelists have agreed that oral immunosuppressant agents should not be used. Patients should be evaluated at the acute and postacute stages using functional and cognitive scales, such as the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), the Modified Rankin Scale (mRS), and the Clinical Assessment Scale in Autoimmune Encephalitis (CASE). Conclusion The present study provides tangible evidence for the effective management of AIE patients within the Brazilian healthcare system. Resumo Foram abordados neste estudo micro concretos autoadensáveis ecoeficientes com substituição parcial do cimento Portland por resíduo de rochas ornamentais (do inglês ornamental stone waste - OSW) e substituição dos agregados convencionais por resíduo de poliestireno expandido. A dosagem foi feita utilizando metodologia de empacotamento de partículas, e as frações de substituição seguiram um projeto experimental estatístico composto de segunda ordem. Foram avaliados e discutidos os parâmetros reológicos, físicos, mecânicos e de ecoeficiência das misturas. Como esperado, a incorporação dos resíduos diminuiu a resistência mecânica, e as misturas com elevadas incorporações de agregados leves apresentaram tendência a segregação. Entretanto, a adição do resíduo OSW demonstrou aumentar a trabalhabilidade e diminuir a viscosidade, contribuindo para controlar a segregação devido à redução no consumo de água necessário sem prejudicar a fluidez da mistura. Ao mesmo tempo, o agregado leve diminuiu tanto a densidade das misturas quanto a viscosidade. Abstract Eco-efficient self-compacting micro concretes with partial replacement of Portland cement by ornamental stone waste (OSW) and replacement of conventional aggregates by expanded polystyrene waste were addressed in this study. A base mixture was obtained using a particle packing method, and replacement fractions followed a second-order composite experimental design. The mixtures’ rheological, physical, mechanical and eco-efficiency parameters were evaluated and discussed. As expected, the incorporation of residues reduced the mechanical strength, and mixtures with high incorporation of lightweight aggregates tended to segregate. However, OSW has been shown to increase workability and decrease viscosity, contributing to control segregation due to the reduced amount of water required without impairing the fluidity of the mix. At the same time, the lightweight aggregate decreased both the density of the mixtures and the viscosity. The interaction of the residue with the lightweight aggregate proved promising in obtaining more eco-efficient lightweight microconcretes. Abstract This study aimed to assess the influence of streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes on the nociceptive behavior evoked by the injection of hypertonic saline (HS) into the masseter muscle of rats. Forty male rats were equally divided into four groups: a) isotonic saline control, which received 0.9% isotonic saline (IS), (Ctrl-IS); b) hypertonic saline control, which received 5% HS (Ctrl-HS); c) STZ-induced diabetic, which received IS, (STZ-IS); d) STZ-induced diabetic, which received HS (STZ-HS). Experimental diabetes was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of STZ at dose of 60 mg/kg dissolved in 0.1 M citrate buffer, and 100 μL of HS or IS were injected into the left masseter to measure the nociceptive behavior. Later on, muscle RNA was extracted to measure the relative expression of the following cytokines: cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), and interleukins (IL)-1β, -2, -6, and -10. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was applied to the data (p < 0.050). We observed a main effect of group on the nociceptive response (ANOVA: F = 11.60, p < 0.001), where the Ctrl-HS group presented the highest response (p < 0.001). However, nociceptive response was similar among the Ctrl-IS, STZ-IS, and STZ-HS group (p > 0.050). In addition, the highest relative gene expression of TNF-α and IL-6 was found in the masseter of control rats following experimental muscle pain (p < 0.050). In conclusion, the loss of somatosensory function can be observed in deep orofacial tissues of STZ-induced diabetic rats. RESUMO: Diferentes tipos de volumosos podem causar perdas na composição química e digestibilidade da gliricídia (Gliricidia sepium [Jacq.] Kunth ex Walp.) dependendo de sua confecção e do manejo da alimentação. O objetivo deste estudo foi sumarizar dados de trabalhos científicos com gliricídia e comparar seu valor nutritivo em diferentes formas de alimentação, sob uma abordagem de revisão sistemática e análise de componentes principais (ACP). Realizou-se um levantamento robusto de trabalhos científicos em web indexadores de periódicos, e em base de dados, de 1990 a 2023. Dados de 100 trabalhos foram sumarizados e analisados. Em 40% dos trabalhos, o valor nutricional da gliricídia foi determinado como folhas in natura, enquanto 30% foi na forma de ‘folhas + caules finos’, em 11% das oportunidades, a gliricídia foi avaliada na forma de silagem, seguido por 10% como farelo de folhas, e 9% como feno. Carboidratos não-fibrosos, proteína bruta (PB) e digestibilidade da matéria orgânica (MO) tiveram correlações negativas com fibra em detergente neutro (FDN), fibra em detergente ácido (FDA) e lignina. Os teores de FDN, FDA e PB foram capazes de explicar 71,00% da variação total dos dados no CP 1 e 2. Além disso, não houve discriminação entre as formas de alimentação, que tiveram composições semelhantes. Eventuais perdas de nutrientes relatadas em trabalhos científicos devido aos processos de ensilagem, fenação ou fabricação de farelo de folhas não descaracterizam o valor nutritivo da gliricídia. As diversas maneiras de confecção de volumosos e manejo da alimentação tradicionalmente utilizadas por agricultores são capazes de conservar a excelente qualidade nutricional da gliricídia. ABSTRACT: Different types of supplied roughage may cause losses in the chemical composition and digestibility of gliricidia (Gliricidia sepium [Jacq.] Kunth ex Walp.) depending on their making and fed-out management. This study has summarized data from scientific studies on gliricidia and compared its nutritional value in various fed forms using a systematic review approach and principal component analysis (PCA). A robust survey of scientific papers was realized on web indexes of periodicals and databases from 1990 to 2023. Data from 100 scientific researches has been compiled and analyzed. In 40% of the trials, the gliricidia nutritional value was determined as fresh leaves, while 30% was in the form of ‘leaves + thin stems’. Gliricidia was evaluated as silage in 11% of the opportunities, followed by 10% as leaf meal and 9% as hay. Non-fiber carbohydrates, crude protein (CP), and organic matter digestibility (OM) had negative correlations with neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), and lignin. Only NDF, ADF, and CP contents could explain 71% of the total data variation (PC1 and PC2). There was no discrimination among fed forms, so they showed similar nutrient compositions. Eventual nutrient losses reported in the scientific researches owing to ensilage, haymaking, and leaf meal-making processes do not mischaracterize the gliricidia nutritional value. The assorted manners of roughage making, and fed-out management traditionally performed by farmers can conserve the excellent nutritional quality of gliricidia. ABSTRACT Jacq. Jacq [Jacq. Walp. ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to examine the effect of the increasing levels of inclusion of palm kernel cake (PKC) in the diet on the performance of feedlot heifers. Forty-eight Nelore heifers with an initial weight of 274 ± 4.58 kg, at 24 months of age, were confined for 98 days in a feedlot. The animals were allocated to the four treatments in a completely randomized design. Treatments consisted of PKC levels of 0 (control), 10, 20, and 30% in the total dry matter of the diet. The roughage:concentrate ratio in the diets was 30:70. Ether extract intake increased, whereas the intakes of non-fiber carbohydrates and total digestible nutrients decreased with the inclusion of PKC. The apparent digestibility of all nutrients decreased, as well as the amounts of nitrogen digested and retained. Microbial protein synthesis and its efficiency also declined. The inclusion of up to 20% PKC increased feeding time and reduced rumination time of heifers. Intake and rumination efficiencies decreased with the inclusion of PKC in the diet. Final weight and average daily gain did not change, but feed efficiency increased with the inclusion of PKC. The inclusion of up to 30% PKC in the diet of feedlot heifers is recommended. RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar as evidências científicas sobre impacto da pandemia da COVID-19 no comportamento suicida de pessoas adultas. Método: Revisão sistemática, realizada de junho a outubro de 2022, nas bases de dados: MEDLINE/PubMed, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, Excerpta Medica database, Cumulative Index to Nursingand Allied Health Literature, Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde, PsycINFO, Web of Science, Scopus, Science Direct e Google Scholar. A seleção, a extração dos dados e a avaliação da qualidade metodológica, por meio da ferramenta Methodological Index for Non-randomized Studies, foram realizadas. Considerando que a maioria dos estudos avaliados apresentaram diferenças metodológicas significativas, optou-se por realizar síntese qualitativa dos dados. Resultados: Foram encontrados 2112 artigos, dos quais foram selecionados oito artigos que analisaram o impacto da pandemia da COVID-19 no comportamento suicida de pessoas adultas. Conclusão: A pandemia da COVID-19 influenciou no comportamento suicida de pessoas adultas no mundo, em especial, quando relacionada a raça, gênero, idade, religião, problemas socioeconômicos, familiares, legais e a transtornos mentais pré-existentes, o que ocasionava maior propensão ao ato. ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the scientific evidence on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on suicidal behavior in adults. Results: A total of 2112 articles were found, from which eight articles were selected that analyzed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on suicidal behavior in adults. Conclusion: The COVID-19 pandemic has influenced the suicidal behavior in adults worldwide, especially when related to race, gender, age, religion, socioeconomic, family and legal issues, and pre-existing mental disorders, leading to a greater propensity for suicidal act. RESUMEN Objetivo: Analizar la evidencia científica sobre el impacto de la pandemia de COVID-19 en la conducta suicida en adultos. Método: Revisión sistemática, realizada de junio a octubre de 2022, en las siguientes bases de datos: MEDLINE/PubMed, Virtual Health Library, Excerpta Medica database, CumulativeIndex to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, PsycINFO, Web of Science, Scopus, Science Direct y Google Scholar. Los datos fueron seleccionados, extraídos y la calidad metodológica evaluada utilizando la herramienta Methodological Index for Non-randomised Studies. Teniendo en cuenta que la mayoría de los estudios evaluados presentaban diferencias metodológicas significativas, se decidió realizar una síntesis cualitativa de los datos. Resultados: Se encontraron 2112 artículos, de los cuales se seleccionaron 8 artículos que analizaban el impacto de la pandemia COVID-19 sobre el comportamiento suicida en adultos. Conclusión: La pandemia del COVID-19 ha influido en el comportamiento suicida de adultos de todo el mundo, especialmente cuando se relaciona con la raza, el sexo, la edad, la religión, los problemas socioeconómicos, familiares y legales y los trastornos mentales preexistentes, lo que ha provocado una mayor propensión al suicidio. Abstract Objective To review key evidence-based recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral facial palsy in children and adults. Methods Task force members were educated on knowledge synthesis methods, including electronic database search, review and selection of relevant citations, and critical appraisal of selected studies. Articles written in English or Portuguese on peripheral facial palsy were eligible for inclusion. The American College of Physicians’ guideline grading system and the American Thyroid Association’s guideline criteria were used for critical appraisal of evidence and recommendations for therapeutic interventions. Results The topics were divided into 2 main parts: (1) Evaluation and diagnosis of facial palsy: electrophysiologic tests, idiopathic facial palsy, Ramsay Hunt syndrome, traumatic peripheral facial palsy, recurrent peripheral facial palsy, facial nerve tumors, and peripheral facial palsy in children; and (2) Rehabilitation procedures: surgical decompression of the facial nerve, facial nerve grafting, surgical treatment of long-term peripheral facial palsy, and non-surgical rehabilitation of the facial nerve. Conclusions Peripheral facial palsy is a condition of diverse etiology.
