Abstract Objective: To evaluate the relationship between the perceived usefulness of e-learning, anxiety, physical activity, and eating habits during the COVID-19 lockdown in university students. Methodology: A cross-sectional study involving 102 health undergraduate students (23 men, 79 women, average age 22.32 years). They responded to surveys on the perception of e-learning, eating habits, physical activity, and anxiety. Results: Simple linear regression models show that the perceived usefulness of e-learning predicts trait anxiety (F(1,100) = 9.13, p < 0.01, R 2 = 0.084) and state anxiety (F(1,100) = 11.66, p < 0.01, R 2 = 0.104). In turn, trait anxiety (F(1,100) = 8.35, p = 0.01, R 2 = 0.078) and state anxiety (F(1,100) = 6.55, p < 0.05, R 2 = 0.062) predict healthy eating habits. Conclusions: A positive perception of e-learning decreases anxiety. High levels of anxiety are associated with poorer eating habits. This indicates that reducing anxiety can improve eating habits.

Resumen Objetivo: Evaluar la relación entre la percepción de utilidad del e-learning, ansiedad, actividad física y hábitos alimenticios durante el confinamiento por COVID-19 en estudiantes universitarios. Metodología: Estudio transversal en 102 alumnos de licenciatura en salud (23 hombres, 79 mujeres, edad promedio 22.32 años). Respondieron encuestas sobre la percepción de e-learning, hábitos alimenticios, actividad física y ansiedad. Resultados. Los modelos de regresión lineal simple muestran que la percepción de utilidad de e-learning predice la ansiedad rasgo (F(1,100) = 9.13, p < 0.01, R 2 = 0.084) y estado (F(1,100) = 11.66, p < 0.01, R 2 = 0.104), y a su vez, la ansiedad rasgo (F(1,100) = 8.35, p = .01, R 2 = 0.078) y estado (F(1,100) = 6.55, p < 0.05, R 2 = 0.062) son predictoras de hábitos de alimentación saludable. Conclusiones: La percepción positiva del e-learning disminuye la ansiedad. Niveles altos de ansiedad se asocian con peores hábitos alimenticios. Esto indica que reducir la ansiedad puede mejorar los hábitos alimenticios.

RESUMO Introdução: Doenças pulmonares são comuns em pacientes com doença renal em estágio terminal (DRET), dificultando o diagnóstico diferencial com COVID-19. Este estudo descreve achados de tomografia computadorizada de tórax (TC) em pacientes com DRET em terapia renal substitutiva (TRS) hospitalizados com suspeita de COVID-19. Métodos: Indivíduos maiores de 18 anos com DRET, encaminhados ao pronto-socorro com suspeita de COVID-19 foram incluídos. Dados clínicos e epidemiológicos foram extraídos de registros eletrônicos de saúde. A TC foi classificada como típica, indeterminada, atípica, negativa. Comparamos achados tomográficos de pacientes com COVID-19 positivos e negativos. Resultados: Recrutamos 109 pacientes (62,3% COVID-19-positivos) entre março e dezembro de 2020, idade média de 60 ± 12,5 anos, 43% mulheres. A etiologia mais comum da DRET foi diabetes. Tempo médio em diálise foi 36 meses, intervalo interquartil = 12–84. A lesão pulmonar mais comum foi opacidades em vidro fosco. O padrão típico de TC foi mais comum em pacientes com COVID-19 (40 (61%) vs. 0 (0%) em pacientes sem COVID-19, p < 0,001). Sensibilidade 60,61% (40/66), especificidade 100% (40/40). Valores preditivos positivos e negativos foram 100% e 62,3%, respectivamente. Padrão atípico de TC foi mais frequente em pacientes COVID-19-negativos (9 (14%) vs. 24 (56%) em COVID-19-positivos, p < 0,001), enquanto padrão indeterminado foi semelhante em ambos os grupos (13 (20%) vs. 6 (14%), p = 0,606), e padrão negativo foi mais comum em pacientes COVID-19-negativos (4 (6%) vs. 12 (28%), p = 0,002). ABSTRACT Introduction: Lung diseases are common in patients with end stage kidney disease (ESKD), making differential diagnosis with COVID-19 a challenge. This study describes pulmonary chest tomography (CT) findings in hospitalized ESKD patients on renal replacement therapy (RRT) with clinical suspicion of COVID-19. Methods: ESKD individuals referred to emergency department older than 18 years with clinical suspicion of COVID-19 were recruited. Epidemiological baseline clinical information was extracted from electronic health records. Pulmonary CT was classified as typical, indeterminate, atypical or negative. We then compared the CT findings of positive and negative COVID-19 patients. Results: We recruited 109 patients (62.3% COVID-19-positive) between March and December 2020, mean age 60 ± 12.5 years, 43% female. The most common etiology of ESKD was diabetes. Median time on dialysis was 36 months, interquartile range = 12–84. The most common pulmonary lesion on CT was ground glass opacities. Typical CT pattern was more common in COVID-19 patients (40 (61%) vs 0 (0%) in non-COVID-19 patients, p < 0.001). Sensitivity was 60.61% (40/66) and specificity was 100% (40/40). Positive predictive value and negative predictive value were 100% and 62.3%, respectively. Atypical CT pattern was more frequent in COVID-19-negative patients (9 (14%) vs 24 (56%) in COVID-19-positive, p < 0.001), while the indeterminate pattern was similar in both groups (13 (20%) vs 6 (14%), p = 0.606), and negative pattern was more common in COVID-19-negative patients (4 (6%) vs 12 (28%), p = 0.002). Abstract. This paper deals with the reception of the Foucauldian notion of governmentality in Roberto Esposito’s thought by taking into account the Italian translation of Foucault’s lectures of 1977 and 1978 at the Collège de France. First, the different contexts of reception of these lectures are presented, in particular the Anglo-Saxon studies of governmentality and the crisis of Italian Marxism in the late 1970s. Secondly, Foucault’s position in his courses of these years is analyzed from the perspective of the opposition between Machiavellianism and anti-Machiavellianism, precisely in view of the Italian reception. Finally, this paper analyses the reception of the notion of governmentality by Roberto Esposito in his 1980 work La politica e la storia. The paper shows the importance of this early reception of Foucault’s lessons regarding the formation of the Italian biopolitical current and its specificities.

Resumen. Este artículo se ocupa de la recepción de la noción foucaultiana de “gubernamentalidad” en el pensamiento de Roberto Esposito a partir de la traducción al italiano de las lecciones de Foucault de los años 1977 y 1978 en el Collège de France. En primer lugar, se exponen los diferentes contextos de recepción de estas lecciones, en particular en el ámbito anglosajón de los estudios sobre la gubernamentalidad y en el de la crisis del marxismo italiano de finales de los setenta. En segundo lugar, se analiza la posición de Foucault en sus cursos de estos años desde la perspectiva de la oposición entre maquiavelismo y antimaquiavelismo en vista, precisamente, de la recepción italiana. Por último, se aborda la recepción de la noción de “gubernamentalidad” por parte de Roberto Esposito en su obra de 1980, La politica e la storia. El artículo muestra la importancia de esta recepción temprana de las lecciones de Foucault respecto de la formación de la corriente biopolítica italiana y, sobre todo, sus especificidades.

Abstract Introduction: Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) has a spectrum of symptoms ranging from asymptomatic disease to acute severe hepatitis, chronic hepatitis, and decompensated cirrhosis. The acute presentation is not rare and could represent genuine acute AIH (GAAIH) or acute exacerbation of chronic autoimmune hepatitis. We aimed to identify the prevalence, clinical features, and prognostic factors associated with GAAIH and compare these cases with acute exacerbation of chronic AIH. Methods: This cross-sectional observational study evaluated patients with acute AIH presentation, deﬁned as total bilirubin >5 times the upper limit of normality (xULN) and/or alanine aminotransferase >10 xULN, and no prior history of liver disease. Histology ﬁndings of acute disease deﬁned GAAIH. Bivariate analyses were performed to identify factors associated with the GAAIH, when compared with acute exacerbation of chronic AIH. Results: Seventy-two patients with acute presentation of AIH were included and six (8.3%) of them presented GAAIH. Comparative analysis between patients with GAAIH and patients with acute exacerbation of chronic AIH revealed that prothrombin activity (96% [74-100] vs. 61% [10-100]; p = 0.003) and albumin levels (3.9 ± 0.2 g/dL vs. 3.4 ± 0.5 g/dL; p < 0.001) were higher in patients with GAAIH. The International Autoimmune Hepatitis Group score was higher in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic AIH (18.5 [8-23] vs. 16.5 [15-17]; p = 0.010). Compared to 15.2% of acute exacerbation of chronic AIH, complete therapeutic response to treatment was achieved in 67.7% of cases with GAAIH (p = 0.018). Conclusions: GAAIH was rare (8.3%), and patients with this presentation exhibited more preserved liver function tests, suggesting that most cases presenting with loss of function are acute exacerbation of chronic AIH. Additionally, patients with GAAIH had a better complete therapeutic response, suggesting a more preserved liver function at presentation, and early diagnosis has a positive therapeutic implication.

Resumo Introdução: A hepatite autoimune (HAI) apresenta um espectro de sintomas que varia de doença assintomática a hepatite aguda grave, hepatite crónica e cirrose descompensada. A apresentação aguda não é rara e pode representar hepatite autoimune aguda genuína (HAIAG) ou exacerbação aguda de hepatite autoimune crónica (EAHAIC). O nosso objetivo foi identiﬁcar a prevalência, caraterísticas clínicas e fatores prognósticos associados à HAIAG, e comparar esses casos com EAHAIC. Métodos: Estudo observacional, transversal, incluindo doentes com apresentação aguda de HAI, deﬁnida como bilirrubina total > 5 vezes o limite superior da normalidade (xLSN) e/ou ALT > 10 xLSN, e sem história prévia de doença hepática. HAIAG foi deﬁnida pela presença de achados histológicos de doença aguda. Análises bivariadas foram realizadas para identiﬁcar fatores associados à HAIAG, quando comparado com o EAHAIC. Resultados: Foram incluídos setenta e dois doentes com apresentação agu-da de HAI, dos quais seis (8.3%) com HAIAG. A análise comparativa entre doentes com HAIAG e doentes com EAHAIC mostrou que a atividade de protrombina (96%(74-100) versus 61% (10-100; p=0.003) e os níveis de albumina (3,9 ± 0,2 g/dL vs. 3,4 ± 0,5 g/dL; p < 0,001) foram signiﬁcativamente mais elevados em pacientes com HAIAG. O score do Grupo Internacional de Hepatite Autoimune foi mais elevado em doentes com EAHAIC (18.5 (8-23) versus 16.5 (15-17); p=0.010). A resposta terapêutica completa ao tratamento foi alcançada em 66.7% dos casos de HAIAG (vs. 15,2% na EAHAIC, p=0,018). Conclusões: A HAIAG é rara (8.3%), e os doentes com esta apresentação mostraram testes de função hepática mais preservados, sugerindo que a maioria dos casos com perda de função são EAHAIC. Além disso, os doentes com HAIAG tiveram maior taxa de resposta terapêutica completa, sugerindo que uma função hepática mais preservada na apresentação e o diagnóstico precoce tem uma implicação terapêutica positiva.

Abstract Rich in fiber and bioactive compounds, roselle calyx decoction residues offer opportunities in food processing. This study sought to develop a directly expanded snack with a mixture of corn and roselle calyx decoction residues, optimizing its physical qualities. It was conducted in 2023, using the response surface methodology with three factors and three responses. The directly expanded snack showed expansion index values between 1.75 to 2.64, bulk density of 0.15 to 0.38 g cm-3 and firmness of 6.8 to 19.6 N, with attractive purple-lilac shades. The regression models were adequate and using the desirability method, optimal conditions (OT= 132.3 °C, SS= 240 rpm) and roselle inclusion level (J= 12.4%) were determined for an optimized directly expanded snack. It was concluded that the inclusion of up to 12.4% of roselle calyx allowed obtaining snacks with excellent physical characteristics.

Resumen Los residuos de decocción cáliz de jamaica, ricos en fibra y compuestos bioactivos, ofrecen oportunidades en la elaboración de alimentos. Este estudio buscó desarrollar una botana directamente expandida con mezcla de maíz y residuos de decocción cáliz de jamaica, optimizando sus cualidades físicas. Se realizó en el año 2023, empleando la metodología de superficie de respuesta con tres factores y tres respuestas. La botana directamente expandida, mostraron valores de índice de expansión entre 1.75 a 2.64, densidad aparente de 0.15 a 0.38 g cm-3 y firmeza de 6.8 a 19.6 N, con tonalidades morado-lila atractivas. Los modelos de regresión fueron adecuados y mediante el método de deseabilidad, se determinaron condiciones óptimas (TS= 132.3 °C, VT= 240 rpm) y nivel de inclusión de jamaica (J= 12.4%) para una botana directamente expandida optimizada. Se concluyó que la inclusión de hasta un 12.4% de cáliz de jamaica permitió obtener botanas con excelentes características físicas.

Resumen: El nitrógeno en el suelo es crucial para la agricultura, pero a menudo es limitante, afectando el rendimiento de los cultivos. La deficiencia requiere fertilizantes sintéticos, pero su uso inadecuado causa daños ambientales y costos elevados. Las bacterias del género Rhizobium, simbiontes de leguminosas, ofrecen una solución al fijar nitrógeno de manera sostenible, reduciendo la dependencia de fertilizantes. Esta investigación determinó el número más probable (NMP) de células de Rhizobium spp. procedente de dos biofertilizantes comerciales de origen ecuatoriano y mexicano en condiciones de invernadero. Para esto, se realizó la inoculación directa con disoluciones seriadas (10-1 a 10-10) en macetas con pomina esterilizada al vapor, donde se germinaron plantas de frijol ejotero (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) de la variedad Blue Lake. A los 45 días después de siembra (DDS) se evaluaron los siguientes indicadores morfológicos: área foliar, peso de la planta en húmedo, altura de planta y número de flores, determinándose diferencias estadísticas entre el tipo de biofertilizante y la concentración de cada dilución. El experimento se adecuó a un diseño de bloques completos al azar con arreglo de parcela dividida con tres repeticiones por dilución, en consideración de las fluctuaciones de temperatura presentes en la zona de estudio. El NMP, al 95% de confianza, fue de 4,45x107 rizobios g-1 de pomina en una dilución 10-5 para el biofertilizante mexicano, y 1,48x105 rizobios g-1 de pomina en una dilución 10-4 para el biofertilizante ecuatoriano. La dilución óptima estimada para ambos productos fue de 10-8.

Abstract: Soil nitrogen is crucial for agriculture, but it is often limited, affecting crop yields. Deficiency requires synthetic fertilizers, but their improper use results in environmental damage and high costs. Bacteria of the genus Rhizobium, symbionts of legumes, offer a sustainable solution by fixing nitrogen, thus reducing dependence on fertilizers. This research determined the most probable number (MPN) of cells of Rhizobium spp. from two commercial biofertilizers of Ecuadorian and Mexican origin under greenhouse conditions. For this, direct inoculation with serial dilutions (10-1 to 10-10) was performed in pots with steam-sterilized pumice where Blue Lake variety snap bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) plants were germinated. The following morphological indicators were evaluated at 45 days after sowing (DAS): leaf area, plant wet weight, plant height, and number of flowers, determining statistical differences between the type of biofertilizer and the concentration of each dilution. The experiment followed a randomized complete block design with a split-plot arrangement, with three replicates per dilution, considering temperature fluctuations in the study area. The MPN at 95% confidence was 4.45x107 rhizobia g-1 of pumice at a 10-5 dilution for the Mexican biofertilizer, and 1.48x105 rhizobia g-1 of pumice at a 10-4 dilution for the Ecuadorian biofertilizer. The estimated optimal dilution for both products was 10-8.

Nitrocarburized coating by plasma electrolytic saturation, PEN/C coatings, have been proposed to increase the corrosion and wear resistance of steel by using a process of low-temperature hydrostatic plasma. The objective of this work is to analyse the wear and corrosion resistance of PEN/C coatings on SAE 1045 steel, using the electrochemical slurry erosion wear test (ESEWT). This test allows the evaluation of the simultaneous effect of erosion wear and electrochemical behaviour on this coating. Thus, it was possible to evaluate the erosive and corrosive effect and the synergy of these phenomena on the PEN/C coated SAE 1045 mass loss rates. Resumen Los cladóceros son crustáceos utilizados como alimento vivo para larvas de peces debido a su aporte nutricional y fácil cultivo. El objetivo fue identificar las especies de cladóceros presentes en ambientes acuáticos temporales y permanentes del estado de Morelos. Se tomaron algunos parámetros físicos y químicos, además de las recolectas del zooplancton, en un total de 130 cuerpos de agua. Se determinaron un total de 33 especies comprendidas en las familias Bosminidae, Chydoridae, Daphniade, Ilyocryptidae, Macrothricidae, Polyphemidae, Sididae y Moinidae, donde sobresalen por su abundancia y frecuencia las especies de la familia Daphnidae. Se reporta que en estos sistemas acuáticos se presentan las especies que son utilizadas como alimento vivo, como es el caso de Moina cf. micrura, Diaphanosoma birgei, Daphnia laevis y Daphnia cf. mendotae. Se registró a Moina wierzejski como especie que habita tanto en lagos, presas y embalses, la cual es utilizada como alimento para larvas de peces.

Abstract Cladocerans are microscopic crustaceans widely used as live food for fish larvae due to their nutritional value and easy culture. The objective was to identify the species of cladocerans present in the temporary and permanent aquatic environments of the state of Morelos. Some physical and chemical parameters were taken, in addition to zooplankton collections, in 130 bodies of water. A total of 33 species included in the families Bosminidae, Chydoridae, Daphniade, Ilyocryptidae, Macrothricidae, Polyphemidae, Sididae, and Moinidae were identified, where the species of the Daphnidae family stand out for their abundance and frequency. It was reported that in these aquatic systems lie the species that are generally used as live food, such is the case of Moina cf. micrura, Diaphanosoma birgei, Daphnia laevis, and Daphnia cf. mendotae. Moina wierzejski is recorded as a species that inhabits in lakes, dams, and reservoirs and which is used as food for fish larvae.

Abstract Mucopolysaccharidosis type IIIB (MPS IIIB) is caused by deficiency of alpha-N-acetylglucosaminidase, leading to storage of heparan sulphate. The disease is characterized by intellectual disability and hyperactivity, among other neurological and somatic features. Here we studied retrospective data from a total of 19 MPS IIIB patients from Brazil, aiming to evaluate disease progression. Mean age at diagnosis was 7.2 years. Speech delay was one of the first symptoms to be identified, around 2-3 years of age. Behavioral alterations include hyperactivity and aggressiveness, starting around age four. By the end of the first decade, patients lost acquired abilities such as speech and ability to walk. Furthermore, as disease progresses, respiratory, cardiovascular and joint abnormalities were found in more than 50% of the patients, along with organomegaly. Most common cause of death was respiratory problems. Resumo Uma lista de peixes recentes e fósseis da Ordem Characiformes é apresentada e acredita-se que a lista esteja completa até 2022. Ao todo, 47 colaboradores verificaram e forneceram informações sobre táxons de sua especialidade. A lista está organizada em ordem alfabética por família e em seguida gênero e inclui todos os sinônimos disponíveis. De um total de 3.087 nomes de grupos de espécies e 527 nomes de grupos de gêneros, 2.334 espécies são atualmente tratadas como válidas e atribuídas a 301 gêneros e 24 famílias. Este total inclui 25 espécies fósseis, das quais 21 são incluídas em oito famílias recentes e quatro são Incertae sedis em Characiformes, mas não inclui cinco espécies baseadas em fósseis que foram incorretamente consideradas como Characiformes. O status de 79 espécies nominais permanece não resolvido. Quando há duas hipóteses concorrentes sobre a validade de um nome, uma delas é escolhida e a interpretação alternativa é fornecida na seção de comentários do nome em questão. Abstract A checklist of recent and fossil fishes of the Order Characiformes is presented herein and believed to be complete through 2022. A total of 47 collaborators checked and provided information about their taxa of expertise. The list is arranged in alphabetical order by family and then genus and includes all available synonyms. From a total of 3,087 species group names and 527 genus group names, 2,334 species are currently treated as valid, and assigned to 301 genera and 24 families. This total includes 25 species known only from the fossil record, of which 21 are assigned to eight extant families and four are Incertae sedis in Characiformes, but does not include five species based on fossil which were wrongly treated in Characiformes. The status of 79 nominal species remains unresolved. When there are two competing hypotheses about the validity of a name, one of them is chosen and the alternate interpretation is provided in the remark section of that name. The volatile composition of coffee exerts a substantial influence on its quality, as it defines the characteristics of the beverage. However, these compounds are influenced by factors within the coffee production chain, such as botanical origin, geography, processing methods, and roasting. Consequently, the identification of such compounds becomes a vital tool for characterizing coffees to these factors. In this context, gas chromatography with headspace extraction is widely used for aroma analysis, providing a composition closer to consumer perception. Headspace extraction offers speed, simplicity, minimal sample preparation, and no need for solvents. In this study, static headspace extraction (SHS) coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (SHS-GC-MS) was employed to establish the chemical profile of volatile compounds in Coffea arabica and Coffea canephora var. conilon and determine discriminants between the species. A total of 97 compounds, belonging to 17 chemical classes, were identified. The chemometric analysis highlighted furans, phenols, and carboxylic acids as key differentiating classes. Notably, furfuryl alcohol, acetic acid, 4-vinylguaiacol, N-acetyl-4(H)-pyridine, and N-furfurylpyrrole emerged as crucial volatile compounds. Abstract Background Vitiligo is the most common pigmentary disorder and is considered a chronic, cumulative, multifactorial disease. The crucial role of cytotoxic CD8+ T lymphocytes and the IFNγ/CXCL10 axis has been demonstrated in its pathogenesis. Objective To evaluate the clinical profile and immuno-inflammatory markers in patients with vitiligo in a reference medical center. Methods Cross-sectional study in which all patients with vitiligo seen at the medical center the from 2019 to 2022 were evaluated, to outline the clinical profile. Moreover, cardiovascular risk biomarkers (neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio and C-reactive protein levels) were measured, as well as cytokines and chemokines (TNFα, IFNγ, IL10, IL15 and CXCL10) in the serum of a subgroup of 30 patients. Results There was a predominance of females, with a mean age of 43 years. Most were phototypes IV or V (71.3%), without comorbidities (77.55%), and without a family history of vitiligo (70.41%). Higher levels of neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, C-reactive protein, and inflammatory cytokines/chemokines were documented in vitiligo patients when compared to the control group (non-significant). As relevant data, the highest values of CXCL10 were detected in patients with vitiligo versus controls, as well as in patients with disease of shorter duration (p < 0.05). Study limitations The number of assessed patients was small due to recruitment difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Resumo O pé diabético corresponde a uma interação entre fatores anatômicos, vasculares e neurológicos que representam um desafio na prática clínica. O objetivo deste trabalho foi compilar as principais evidências científicas com base em uma revisão das principais diretrizes, além de artigos publicados nas plataformas Embase, Lilacs e PubMed. ABSTRACT Microsporum canis, one of the most widespread dermatophytes worldwide, is a zoonotic microorganism that transmits infection from reservoirs such as cats and dogs to humans. This microorganism is associated with Tinea corporis and other clinical manifestations; however, few studies have used genetic surveillance to determine and characterize the process of zoonotic transmission. In this study, we show a clear example of zoonotic transmission from a cat to an intrafamilial environment, where it caused Tinea corporis by infection with M. canis. Molecular characterization using the b-tubulin gene and Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA analysis made it possible to determine that the six isolates of M. canis obtained in this study belonged to the same genetic variant or clone responsible for reservoir-reservoir or reservoir-human transmission. worldwide humans manifestations however environment M btubulin b tubulin reservoirreservoir reservoir reservoirhuman human
