RESUMO Objetivo: Neste estudo relatamos o caso de uma profissional de saúde com vivência de imobilidade tônica (IT) e posterior desenvolvimento de transtorno de estresse pós-traumático (TEPT) crônico em decorrência de trauma laboral por conta da COVID-19 que recebeu tratamento remoto com terapia cognitivo-comportamental focada no trauma (TCC-FT). Métodos: Relato de caso de uma paciente acompanhada por seis meses após o recebimento de TCC-FT remota. Resultados: Paciente do sexo feminino, de 36 anos, fisioterapeuta, que desenvolveu TEPT crônico e experienciou IT por medo da contaminação por coronavírus. As escalas psicométricas demonstraram que a TCC-FT reduziu consideravelmente os sintomas de TEPT e depressão e aumentou o apoio social e a resiliência. De acordo com o relato, o tratamento melhorou a concentração e a motivação, e reduziu o sentimento de culpa, a irritabilidade, a insegurança e o desconforto em lidar com outras pessoas. Conclusão: Este artigo demonstra que traumas decorrentes da COVID-19 podem ser capazes de desencadear IT e exemplifica um favorável desempenho da TCC-FT na melhoria global da saúde mental dos pacientes com TEPT crônico com vivência de IT. ABSTRACT Objective: In this study, we report the case of a health professional with experience of tonic immobility (TI) and subsequent development of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result of occupational trauma due to COVID-19 who received remote treatment with Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Methods: A case report of a patient followed for six months after receiving remote TF-CBT. Results: A 36-year-old female patient, the physiotherapist who developed chronic PTSD and experienced TI for fear of coronavirus contamination. Psychometric scales demonstrated that TF-CBT considerably reduced PTSD and depression symptoms and increased social support and resilience. According to the report, the treatment improved concentration and motivation, and reduced feelings of guilt, irritability, insecurity, and discomfort in dealing with other people. Conclusion: This article demonstrates that trauma resulting from COVID-19 can trigger TI and exemplifies a favorable performance of TF-CBT in the global improvement of the mental health of patients with chronic PTSD who experience TI. RESUMO Objetivo O transtorno de estresse pós-traumático (TEPT) é um transtorno altamente prevalente e incapacitante. Mesmo quando tratado com uma intervenção de primeira linha, terapia cognitivo-comportamental (TCC), 45% dos pacientes continuam sofrendo desse transtorno. Portanto, conhecer os fatores que podem prever quem responderá à TCC seria de grande valor no tratamento desses pacientes. Por esse motivo, revisamos sistematicamente a literatura para identificar as variáveis que poderiam predizer a resposta à TCC em pacientes que sofrem de TEPT. Métodos Seguindo as diretrizes do PRISMA 2020, pesquisamos em banco de dados eletrônico como ISI Web of Science, Scopus, PsycINFO, MEDLINE e PTSDpubs até novembro de 2021. Dois autores conduziram independentemente a seleção do estudo e a extração de dados. Estudos que examinaram possíveis preditores de resposta à terapia, com amostra de adultos (18-65 anos) de ambos os sexos, com e sem comorbidades, foram considerados elegíveis. As características dos estudos foram sintetizadas em uma tabela. O risco de viés foi avaliado pela ferramenta de avaliação de qualidade de risco de viés da Cochrane. Resultados Vinte e oito estudos envolvendo 15 variáveis foram selecionados. Desses, oito mostraram baixo risco de viés, 19 mostraram algumas preocupações e um mostrou alto risco potencial de viés. A relação terapêutica foi a única variável considerada um preditor de boa resposta à terapia. Todas as outras variáveis apresentaram resultados conflitantes. Conclusões A variável mais promissora, embora muito fraca cientificamente, é a relação terapêutica. Ensaios clínicos randomizados adicionais devem ser conduzidos para esclarecer o papel dessa variável como um preditor de resposta da TCC em pacientes com TEPT.

ABSTRACT Objective Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a highly prevalent and disabling disorder. Even when treated with the first-line intervention, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), 45% of the patients continue suffering from this disorder. Therefore, knowing the factors that could foresee who will respond to CBT would be of great value to the treatment of these patients. Thus, we have systematically reviewed the literature to identify the variables that could predict response to CBT in patients suffering from PTSD. Methods Following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, we searched the electronic databases ISI Web of Science, Scopus, PsycINFO, MEDLINE, and PTSDpubs until November 2021. Two authors have independently conducted study selection and data extraction. Studies that examined possible predictors of response to therapy on a sample of adults (18-65 years), both genders, with and without comorbidities were considered eligible. The characteristics of the studies were synthesized in a table. The risk of bias was assessed by the Cochrane risk of bias quality assessment tool. Results Twenty-eight studies comprising 15 variables were selected. Among those, eight showed a low risk of bias, 19 showed some concerns, and one showed a high potential risk of bias. The therapeutic relationship was the only variable considered to be a predictor of a good response to therapy. All other variables showed conflicting results. Conclusions The most promising variable, although scientifically weak, is the therapeutic relationship. Additional randomized clinical trials should be conducted to clarify the role of this variable as a predictor of response to CBT in patients with PTSD.

Neste trabalho apresenta-se o tratamento taxonômico do gênero Solanum, como parte do projeto "Flora da Paraíba", que vem sendo realizado com o objetivo de identificar e catalogar as espécies da flora local. Realizaram-se coletas, observações de campo e estudos morfológicos para as identificações, descrições e ilustrações botânicas, com o auxílio da bibliografia especializada, complementadas pela análise de tipos e fotos de tipos de herbários nacionais e internacionais e de espécimes depositados nos herbários EAN e JPB. Foram registradas 22 espécies: Solanum agrarium Sendtn., S. americanum Mill., S. asperum Rich., S. asterophorum Mart., S. caavurana Vell., S. capsicoides All., S. crinitum Lam., S. jabrense Agra & M.Nee, S. melissarum Bohs, S. ovum-fringillae (Dunal) Bohs, S. palinacanthum Dunal, S. paludosum Moric., S. paniculatum L., S. paraibanum Agra, S. polytrichum Moric., S. rhytidoandrum Sendtn., Solanum sp., S. stagnale Moric., S. stipulaceum Roem. & Schult., S. stramoniifolium Jacq., S. swartzianum Roem. & Schult. e S. torvum Sw. Três espécies, S. ovum-fringillae, Solanum sp. e S. swartzianum, são novas referências para a Paraíba.

A taxonomic treatment of the genus Solanum was done as part of the project "Flora da Paraíba", which aims to identify and catalogue the species of the local flora. Botanical collections, field observations and morphological studies were done for identification, description and botanical illustration of the plant species, supported by the literature and analysis of national and foreign herbaria, and specimens from EAN and JPB. Twenty two species of Solanum were recorded in State of Paraíba, as follows: Solanum agrarium Sendtn., S. americanum Mill., S. asperum Rich., S. asterophorum Mart., S. caavurana Vell., S. capsicoides All., S. crinitum Lam., S. jabrense Agra & M.Nee, S. melissarum Bohs, S. ovum-fringillae (Dunal) Bohs, S. palinacanthum Dunal, S. paludosum Moric., S. paniculatum L., S. paraibanum Agra, S. polytrichum Moric., S. rhytidoandrum Sendtn., Solanum sp., S. stagnale Moric., S. stipulaceum Roem. & Schult., S. stramoniifolium Jacq., S. swartzianum Roem. & Schult. and S. torvum Sw. Three species are new records for Paraíba: S. ovum-fringillae, Solanum sp. and S. swartzianum.

In order to understand the genetic responses resulting from physiological changes that occur in plants displaying citrus variegated chlorosis (CVC) symptoms, we adopted a strategy of comparing two EST libraries from sweet orange [Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck]. One of them was prepared with plants showing typical CVC symptoms caused by Xylella fastidiosa and the other with non-inoculated plants. We obtained 15,944 ESTs by sequencing the two cDNA libraries. Using an in silico hybridization strategy, 37 genes were found to have significant variation at the transcriptional level. Within this subset, 21 were up-regulated and 16 were down-regulated in plants with CVC. The main functional categories of the down-regulated transcripts in plants with CVC were associated with metabolism, protein modification, energy and transport facilitation. The majority of the up-regulated transcripts were associated with metabolism and defense response. Some transcripts associated with adaptation to stress conditions were up-regulated in plants with CVC and could explain why plants remain alive even under severe water and nutritional stress. Others of the up-regulated transcripts are related to defense response suggesting that sweet orange plants activate their defense machinery. The genes associated with stress response might be expressed as part of a secondary response related to physiological alterations caused by the infection.

Citrus sinensis is a perennial woody species, for which genetic approaches to the study of reproductive development are not readily amenable. Here, the usefulness of the CitEST Expressed Sequence Tag (EST) database is demonstrated as a reliable new resource for identifying novel genes exclusively related to Citrus reproductive biology. We performed the analysis of an EST dataset of the CitEST Project containing 4,330 flower-derived cDNA sequences. Relying on bioinformatics tools, sequences exclusively present in this flower-derived sequence collection were selected and used for the identification of Citrus putative flower-specific genes. Our analysis revealed several Citrus sequences showing significant similarity to conserved genes known to have flower-specific expression and possessing functions related to flower metabolism and/or reproductive development in diverse plant species. Comparison of the Citrus flower-specific sequences with all available plant peptide sequences unraveled 247 unique transcripts not identified elsewhere within the plant kingdom. Additionally, 49 transcripts, for which no biological function could be attributed by means of sequence comparisons, were found to be conserved among plant species. These results allow further gene expression analysis and possibly novel approaches to the understanding of reproductive development in Citrus.

CitEST project resulted in the construction of cDNA libraries from different Citrus sp. tissues under various physiological conditions. Among them, plantlets of Rangpur lime were exposed to hydroponic conditions with and without water stress using PEG6000. RNA from roots was obtained and generated a total of 4,130 valid cDNA reads, with 2,020 from the non-stressed condition and 2,110 from the stressed set. Bioinformatic analyses measured the frequency of each read in the libraries and yielded an in silico transcriptional profile for each condition. A total of 40 contigs were differentially expressed and allowed to detect up-regulated homologue sequences to well known genes involved in stress response, such as aquaporins, dehydrin, sucrose synthase, and proline-related synthase. Some sequences could not be classified by using FunCat and remained with an unknown function. A large number of sequences presented high similarities to annotated genes involved with cell energy, protein synthesis and cellular transport, suggesting that Rangpur lime may sustain active cell growth under stressed condition. The presence of membrane transporters and cell signaling components could be an indication of a coordinated morphological adaptation and biochemical response during drought, helping to explain the higher tolerance of this rootstock to water stress.

Citrus is the most important fruit crop in Brazil and Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) is considered one of the most important pathogens of citrus. Most citrus species and varieties are susceptible to CTV infection. However, Poncirus trifoliata, a close relative of citrus, is resistant to the virus. In order to better understand the responses of citrus plants to the infection of CTV, we constructed expressed sequence tag (EST) libraries with tissues collected from Poncirus trifoliata plants, inoculated or not with Citrus tristeza virus at 90 days after inoculation, grafted on Rangpur lime rootstocks. We generated 17,867 sequence tags from Poncirus trifoliata inoculated (8,926 reads) and not (8,941 reads) with a severe CTV isolate. A total of 2,782 TCs (Tentative Consensi sequences) were obtained using both cDNA libraries in a single clusterization procedure. By the in silico hybridization approach, 289 TCs were identified as differentially expressed in the two libraries. A total of 121 TCs were found to be overexpressed in plants infected with CTV and were grouped in 12 primary functional categories. The majority of them were associated with metabolism and defense response. Some others were related to lignin, ethylene biosynthesis and PR proteins. In general, the differentially expressed transcripts seem to be somehow involved in secondary plant response to CTV infection.

OBJETIVO: Avaliar a utilização de osso canino conservado em mel como implante em defeitos ósseos criados em fêmures de cães. MÉTODOS: Doze caninos adultos foram submetidos a remoção de um segmento ósseo retangular compreendendo um terço do diâmetro do osso por 2cm de comprimento da diáfise femural. Posteriormente foram inseridos dois pinos intramedulares e fixado um implante ósseo conservado de tamanho compatível com o defeito através de cerclagem com fio de aço. Os animais foram avaliados radiograficamente no dia da intervenção cirúrgica e aos 30 e 60 dias. RESULTADOS: Após o final dos 60 dias foi possível verificar incorporação do implante em oito animais enquanto que em quatro houve reabsorção do material implantado. CONCLUSÃO: O mel pode ser adequado como conservante de ossos.

PURPOSE: Evaluate the use of canine bone conserved in honey as graft in the correction of bone defects in dogs. METHODS: Twelve mongrel dogs were used, male and female, weighing between 6 and 15 kg, comprising a single experimental group. After, the left femur was accessed in the lateral side of its shaft and a segment of two centimeters length by one third of the diameter was removed. Two intrammedulary Steinman pins were inserted by normograde way and the defect was covered with the bone graft and fixed with cerclage wire. The animals were radiographically evaluated in the day of the surgery, 30 and 60 days after. RESULTS: By the end of the 60 days these dogs were euthaniezed for gross and microscopycal evaluation. Eight animals presented the incorporation of the graft and the other four had bone resorption in the inplantation site. CONCLUSION: The bone preserved in honey is able to be used in bone grafting.
