RESUMO Contexto: Em estudos observacionais sobre a síndrome do desconforto respiratório agudo, sugeriu-se que a driving pressure é o principal fator de lesão pulmonar induzida por ventilador e de mortalidade. Não está claro se uma estratégia de limitação da driving pressure pode melhorar os desfechos clínicos. Objetivo: Descrever o protocolo e o plano de análise estatística que serão usados para testar se uma estratégia de limitação da driving pressure envolvendo a titulação da pressão positiva expiratória final de acordo com a melhor complacência respiratória e a redução do volume corrente é superior a uma estratégia padrão envolvendo o uso da tabela de pressão positiva expiratória final baixa do protocolo ARDSNet, em termos de aumento do número de dias sem ventilador em pacientes com síndrome do desconforto respiratório agudo devido à pneumonia adquirida na comunidade. Métodos: O estudo STAMINA (ventilator STrAtegy for coMmunIty acquired pNeumoniA) é randomizado, multicêntrico e aberto e compara uma estratégia de limitação da driving pressure com a tabela de pressão positiva expiratória final baixa do protocolo ARDSnet em pacientes com síndrome do desconforto respiratório agudo moderada a grave devido à pneumonia adquirida na comunidade internados em unidades de terapia intensiva. Esperamos recrutar 500 pacientes de 20 unidades de terapia intensiva brasileiras e duas colombianas. Eles serão randomizados para um grupo da estratégia de limitação da driving pressure ou para um grupo de estratégia padrão usando a tabela de pressão positiva expiratória final baixa do protocolo ARDSnet. No grupo da estratégia de limitação da driving pressure, a pressão positiva expiratória final será titulada de acordo com a melhor complacência do sistema respiratório. Desfechos: O desfecho primário é o número de dias sem ventilador em 28 dias. Os desfechos secundários são a mortalidade hospitalar e na unidade de terapia intensiva e a necessidade de terapias de resgate, como suporte de vida extracorpóreo, manobras de recrutamento e óxido nítrico inalado. ABSTRACT Background: Driving pressure has been suggested to be the main driver of ventilator-induced lung injury and mortality in observational studies of acute respiratory distress syndrome. Whether a driving pressure-limiting strategy can improve clinical outcomes is unclear. Objective: To describe the protocol and statistical analysis plan that will be used to test whether a driving pressure-limiting strategy including positive end-expiratory pressure titration according to the best respiratory compliance and reduction in tidal volume is superior to a standard strategy involving the use of the ARDSNet low-positive end-expiratory pressure table in terms of increasing the number of ventilator-free days in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome due to community-acquired pneumonia. Methods: The ventilator STrAtegy for coMmunIty acquired pNeumoniA (STAMINA) study is a randomized, multicenter, open-label trial that compares a driving pressure-limiting strategy to the ARDSnet low-positive end-expiratory pressure table in patients with moderate-to-severe acute respiratory distress syndrome due to community-acquired pneumonia admitted to intensive care units. We expect to recruit 500 patients from 20 Brazilian and 2 Colombian intensive care units. They will be randomized to a driving pressure-limiting strategy group or to a standard strategy using the ARDSNet low-positive end-expiratory pressure table. In the driving pressure-limiting strategy group, positive end-expiratory pressure will be titrated according to the best respiratory system compliance. Abstract Background A cost of illness (COI) study aims to evaluate the socioeconomic burden that an illness imposes on society as a whole. This study aimed to describe the resources used, patterns of care, direct cost, and loss of productivity due to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in Brazil. Methods This 12-month, cross-sectional, COI study of patients with SLE (ACR 1997 Classification Criteria) collected data using patient interviews (questionnaires) and medical records, covering: SLE profile, resources used, morbidities, quality of life (12-Item Short Form Survey, SF-12), and loss of productivity. Patients were excluded if they were retired or on sick leave for another illness. Direct resources included health-related (consultations, tests, medications, hospitalization) or non-health-related (transportation, home adaptation, expenditure on caregivers) hospital resources. Costs were calculated using the unit value of each resource and the quantity consumed. A gamma regression model explored cost predictors for patients with SLE. Results Overall, 300 patients with SLE were included (92.3% female, mean [standard deviation (SD)] disease duration 11.8 [7.9] years), of which 100 patients (33.3%) were on SLE-related sick leave and 46 patients (15.3%) had stopped schooling. Mean (SD) travel time from home to a care facility was 4.4 (12.6) hours. Antimalarials were the most commonly used drugs (222 [74.0%]). A negative correlation was observed between SF-12 physical component and SLE Disease Activity Index (- 0.117, p = 0.042), Systemic Lupus International CollaboratingClinics/AmericanCollegeofRheumatology Damage Index (- 0.115, p = 0.046), medications/day for multiple co-morbidities (- 0.272, p < 0.001), SLE-specific drugs/day (- 0.113, p = 0.051), and lost productivity (- 0.570, p < 0.001). For the mental component, a negative correlation was observed with medications/day for multiple co-morbidities (- 0.272, p < 0.001), SLE-specific medications/day (- 0.113, p = 0.051), and missed appointments (- 0.232, p < 0.001). Mean total SLE cost was US$3,123.53/patient/year (median [interquartile range (IQR)] US$1,618.51 [$678.66, $4,601.29]). Main expenditure was medication, with a median (IQR) cost of US$910.62 ($460, $4,033.51). Mycophenolate increased costs by 3.664 times (p < 0.001), and inflammatory monitoring (erythrocyte sedimentation rate or C-reactive protein) reduced expenditure by 0.381 times (p < 0.001). Conclusion These results allowed access to care patterns, the median cost for patients with SLE in Brazil, and the differences across regions driven by biological, social, and behavioral factors. The cost of SLE provides an updated setting to support the decision-making process across the country. ABSTRACT Many infants are nurtured with milk supplied by human banks, whose bacteriological and physical-chemical profiles are a major issue. We investigated the bacteriological and physical-chemical characteristics, as well as genotypic and phenotypic and profiles of Staphylococcus species isolated from 240 samples of breast milk from a bank in a teaching hospital. Dornic acidity of milk revealed that 95.4% (229/240) had acceptable limits (< 8.0 oD). Caloric intake showed a wide variation in cream content (4%), fat (4%) and energy values (559.81 Kcal/L). Staphylococcus (105/186 or 56.5%) and Enterobacter (25/186 or 13.4%) were the most prevalent genera, although other microorganisms were identified, including Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (125/157 or 79.6%), vancomycin (115/157 or 73.2%), and cephalexin (112/157 or 71.3%) were the most effective antimicrobials. High resistance rates of isolates were found to penicillin G (141/157 or 89.8%), ampicillin (135/157 or 86%), and oxacillin (118/157 or 75.2%). Multidrug resistance to ≥ 3 antimicrobials occurred in 66.2% (123/186) of the isolates. Residues of microbial multiplication inhibitory substances were found in 85% (204/240) of samples. Among the coagulase-positive-CPS and negative-CoNS staphylococci, the mecA gene was detected in 53.3% (8/15) and 75% (30/40), respectively. Genes sea, seb and sec were detected in 20% (3/15) of CPS, while tsst-1 was detected in 13.34% (2/15). In addition, 13.3% (2/15) of S. aureus were toxin-producers. Genes sea, seb and sec were detected in 90% (36/40), 5% (2/40) and 15% (6/40) CoNS, respectively. Enterotoxin production was identified in 5% (2/40) of CoNS. The identification of multidrug-resistant bacteria, staphylococci species toxin-producers harboring methicillin-resistance genes, and residues of microbial multiplication inhibitory substances reinforce the need for a continuous vigilance of milk quality offered to infant consumption by human banks.

Resumo Fundamento A síndrome de takotsubo (takotsubo) é uma forma de cardiomiopatia adquirida. Dados nacionais sobre essa condição são escassos. O Registro REMUTA é o primeiro a incluir dados multicêntricos dessa condição no nosso país. Objetivo Descrever as características clínicas, prognóstico, tratamento intra-hospitalar e mortalidade hospitalar e em 1 ano de seguimento. Métodos Estudo observacional, retrospectivo, tipo registro. Incluídos pacientes internados com diagnóstico de takotsubo ou que desenvolveram esta condição durante internação por outra causa. Os desfechos avaliados incluíram fator desencadeador, análise dos exames, uso de medicações, complicações e óbito intra-hospitalar e em 1 ano de seguimento. O nível de significância adotado foi de 5%. Resultados Foram incluídos 169 pacientes, em 12 centros no Estado do Rio de Janeiro. A idade média foi de 70,9 ± 14,1 anos e 90,5% eram do sexo feminino; 63% dos casos foram de takotsubo primário e 37% secundário. Troponina I foi positiva em 92,5% dos pacientes e a mediana de BNP foi de 395 (176,5; 1725). Supradesnivelamento do segmento ST esteve presente em 28% dos pacientes. A fração de ejeção do ventrículo esquerdo teve mediana de 40 (35; 48)%. Observamos taxa de 25,7% de ventilação mecânica invasiva e 17,4% de choque. Suporte circulatório mecânico foi utilizado em 7,7%. A mortalidade intra-hospitalar foi de 10,6% e a mortalidade ao final de 1 ano foi de 16,5%. Takotsubo secundário e choque cardiogênico foram preditores independentes de mortalidade. Conclusão Os resultados do REMUTA mostram que takotsubo não se trata de patologia benigna como se pensava, especialmente no grupo de takotsubo secundário que acarreta elevada taxa de complicações e de mortalidade. Abstract Background Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) is an acquired form of cardiomyopathy. National Brazilian data on this condition are scarce. The Takotsubo Multicenter Registry (REMUTA) is the first to include multicenter data on this condition in Brazil. Objective To describe the clinical characteristics, prognosis, in-hospital treatment, in-hospital mortality, and mortality during 1 year of follow-up. Methods This is an observational, retrospective registry study including patients admitted to the hospital with diagnosis of TTS and patients admitted for other reasons who developed this condition. Evaluated outcomes included triggering factor, analysis of exams, use of medications, complications, in-hospital mortality, and mortality during 1 year of follow-up. A significance level of 5% was adopted. Results The registry included 169 patients from 12 centers in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Mean age was 70.9 ± 14.1 years, and 90.5% of patients were female; 63% of cases were primary TTS, and 37% were secondary. Troponin I was positive in 92.5% of patients, and median BNP was 395 (176.5; 1725). ST-segment elevation was present in 28% of patients. Median left ventricular ejection fraction was 40 (35; 48)%. We observed invasive mechanical ventilation in 25.7% of cases and shock in 17.4%. Mechanical circulatory support was used in 7.7%. In-hospital mortality was 10.6%, and mortality at 1 year of follow-up was 16.5%. Secondary TTS and cardiogenic shock were independent predictors of mortality. Conclusion The results of the REMUTA show that TTS is not a benign pathology, as was once thought, especially regarding the secondary TTS group, which has a high rate of complications and mortality. RESUMO Objetiva refletir sobre a aplicação da abordagem contingencial no contexto capacitante da biblioteca multinível. Metodologicamente, consiste em um estudo teórico reflexivo, de natureza qualitativa, que fez uso da técnica bibliográfica. A discussão abrange a perspectiva conceitual do Ministério da Educação acerca do Plano de Contingência, os desafios para a biblioteca multinível brasileira quanto a elaboração deste a partir da exigência dos instrumentos de avaliação dos cursos superiores do governo brasileiro e a importância de um contexto favorável a criação de conhecimento para o atendimento das demandas emergenciais. O resultado do estudo evidencia a necessidade de um contexto capacitante, conforme a perspectiva conceitual de Krogh, Ichijo e Nonaka, que oportunize não somente a criação de conhecimento, mas também o desenvolvimento de competência em informação necessária para a elaboração, execução e avaliação do Plano de Contingência.

ABSTRACT It aims to reflect on the application of the contingency approach in the enabling context of the multilevel library. Methodologically, it consists of a reflective theoretical study, of a qualitative nature, that made use of the bibliographical technique. The discussion covers the conceptual perspective of the Ministry of Education about the Contingency Plan, the challenges for the Brazilian multilevel library regarding the elaboration of this one based on the demand of the instruments of evaluation of the higher courses of the Brazilian government and the importance of a context favorable to the creation knowledge to meet the emergency demands. The result of the study evidences the need for an enabling context, according to the conceptual perspective of Krogh, Ichijo and Nonaka, that allows not only the creation of knowledge, but also the development of competence in information necessary for the elaboration, execution and evaluation of the Plan of Contingency.

Abstract Next-generation sequencing (NGS) platforms allow the analysis of hundreds of millions of molecules in a single sequencing run, revolutionizing many research areas. NGS-based microRNA studies enable expression quantification in unprecedented scale without the limitations of closed-platforms. Yet, whereas a massive amount of data produced by these platforms is available, comparisons of quantification/discovery capabilities between platforms are still lacking. Here we compare two NGS-platforms: SOLiD and PGM, by evaluating their microRNA identification/quantification capabilities using two breast-derived cell-lines. A high expression correlation (R2 > 0.9) was achieved, encompassing 97% of the miRNAs, and the few discrepancies in miRNA counts were attributable to molecules that have very low expression. Quantification divergences indicative of artefactual representation were seen for 14 miRNAs (higher in SOLiD-reads) and another 10 miRNAs more abundant in PGM-data. An inspection of these revealed an increased and statistically significant count of uracyls and uracyl-stretches for PGM-enriched miRNAs, compared to SOLiD and to the miRBase. In parallel, adenines and adenine-stretches were enriched for SOLiDderived miRNA reads. We conclude that, whereas both platforms are overall consistent and can be used interchangeably for microRNA expression studies, particular sequence features appear to be indicative of specific platform bias, and their presence in microRNAs should be considered for database-analyses.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito do resíduo da extração de própolis, adicionado em dietas de bovinos com níveis crescentes de proteína, sobre a fermentação ruminal in vitro. Para tanto, utilizou-se a técnica de produção de gás in vitro. A incubação foi realizada com inóculos de três vacas fistuladas, em três períodos. Em cada período, uma vaca recebeu uma dose diária de 100 g do resíduo de própolis. Foram avaliadas quatro dietas: silagem de milho (controle); e 25, 50 e 75% de concentrado à base de farelo de soja. Foram determinados: cinética de fermentação ruminal; degradação da matéria seca; produção de gases, ácidos graxos voláteis (acetato, propionato e butirato), metano e nitrogênio amoniacal; e pH. A inclusão de 14,4, 15,1 e 9,5% de resíduo de própolis, respectivamente, a 25, 50 e 75% de concentrado aumentou a produção de gases oriundos da degradação dos carboidratos fibrosos, em comparação ao controle. O resíduo de própolis reduz a produção de metano e a relação acetato:propionato em todos os níveis de inclusão de concentrado testados.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of the residue from the extraction of propolis, added to bovine diets with increasing levels of protein, on ruminal fermentation in vitro. For this, the in vitro gas production technique was used. Incubation was carried out with inocula from three fistulated cows, in three periods. In each period, a cow received a daily dose of 100 g propolis residue. Four diets were evaluated: corn silage (control); and 25, 50, and 75% concentrate based on soybean meal. The following were determined: kinetics of rumen fermentation; dry matter degradation; production of gases, volatile fatty acids (acetate, propionate, and butyrate), methane, and ammonia nitrogen; and pH. The inclusion of 14.4, 15.1, and 9.5% propolis residue, respectively, to 25, 50, and 75% concentrate increased the production of gases from the degradation of fibrous carbohydrates, when compared with the control. The propolis residue reduces methane production and the acetate:propionate ratio at all tested concentrate inclusion levels.

Abstract Cryptorchidism is a genital alteration wherein one or both testicles fail to descend into the scrotum and has multifactorial causes. A free-range adult male was captured twice in the Pantanal of Nhecolândia to put a GPS collar and semen collection. Pharmacological semen collection, andrological examination and semen analysis were performed. At the first capture and during the andrological examination only the left testis was found, and the male qualified as cryptorchid. The penis had no penile spines at either procedure. The semen volume obtained at first and second capture was 435 and 160 μL, respectively, with a concentration of 618 and 100 x 106 sperm/mL, progressive motility of ~ 5% and ~ 1% and total morphological sperm abnormalities of 74% and 86%. The male was monitored by a GPS collar, but the signal was lost, making it difficult to re-captures and perform new seminal and ultrasound evaluations to discard monorchidism – exceedingly rare in felids. Genetic studies to assess the individual's homozygosity are necessary to verify whether cryptorchidism in this individual has a genetic factor.

RESUMO Dentre as plantas daninhas com comprovada resistência ao glyphosate, destaca-se o capim-amargoso (Digitaria insularis). O objetivo deste trabalho foi demonstrar que a susceptibilidade de diferentes populações de D. insularis ao glyphosate é consequência do histórico de controle químico adotado nas áreas agrícolas. Sete populações de capim-amargoso, provenientes da região produtora de grãos, no sudeste de Goiás (três de Silvânia, duas de Gameleira de Goiás, uma de Pires do Rio e uma de Orizona), foram analisadas por meio da curva dose-resposta. Estudaram-se a susceptibilidade diferencial e a capacidade de rebrota das populações submetidas a diferentes doses de glyphosate (0; 0,11; 0,21; 0,42; 0,84; 1,68; 3,36; 6,72; 13,44 e 26,88 kg ha-1 i.a.). Além disso, elaborou-se um dendrograma de susceptibilidade ao herbicida, por meio da análise de agrupamento hierárquico UPGMA. As populações de capim-amargoso, manejadas há cinco anos com glyphosate associado a herbicidas inibidores da ACCase, são susceptíveis ao glyphosate; quando manejadas de forma intensiva, unicamente com glyphosate, apresentaram-se menos susceptíveis. O mesmo resultado foi observado com a análise de agrupamento, que indicou a formação de dois grupos, o primeiro composto por populações oriundas de Silvânia, Orizona, Pires do Rio, Gameleira de Goiás, consideradas susceptíveis ao glyphosate e, o segundo grupo, composto por populações oriundas de Gameleira de Goiás e Silvânia, as menos susceptíveis. As populações de capim-amargoso menos sensíveis apresentam maior capacidade de rebrota da parte aérea, após tratadas com doses elevadas de glyphosate.

ABSTRACT Among the proven weeds proven resistance to glyphosate, the sourgrass (Digitaria insularis) stands out. In this sense, this work was developed with the objective of demonstrating that the susceptibility of different populations of D. insularis to glyphosate is a consequence of the chemical control history adopted in the agricultural areas. Seven populations of sourgrass from the southeastern region of Goiás (three from Silvânia, two from Gameleira de Goiás, one from Pires do Rio and one from Orizona) were analyzed using the dose-response curve and the differential susceptibility and the re-growth capacity of the sourgrass populations submitted to different doses of glyphosate (0, 0.11, 0.21, 0.42, 0.84, 1.68, 3.36, 6.72, 44 and 26.88 kg and ha-1). In addition, a herbicide susceptibility dendrogram was elaborated through UPGMA hierarchical cluster analysis. Sourgrass populations, managed five years ago with glyphosate associated with ACCase inhibitor herbicides, are susceptible to glyphosate; when they were treated intensively with glyphosate alone, were less susceptible. The same result was observed for cluster analysis, which indicated the formation of two groups, the first composed by populations from Silvânia, Orizona, Pires do Rio, Gameleira de Goiás conties considered susceptible to glyphosate and the second group composed of populations from Gameleira de Goiás e Silvânia counties, the least susceptible. The less susceptible sourgrass populations have a higher capacity for re-growth after treatment with high doses of glyphosate.

RESUMO O primeiro objetivo do estudo foi comparar a assimetria do pico de força (Fpico) de membros inferiores em dois procedimentos de análise, simultâneo e sequencial, no salto com contramovimento (SCM) de futebolistas. Foram realizadas três séries de seis SCM em duas plataformas de força. Para o procedimento sequencial, os 18 SCM foram divididos em dois blocos de nove tentativas. A média dos três melhores SCM do primeiro bloco foi utilizada para determinar o valor do Fpico de um MI e a média dos três melhores saltos do segundo bloco para determinar o valor do Fpico para o outro MI, e depois essa ordem foi invertida. Já no procedimento simultâneo, a média dos valores de Fpico de ambos os MI foi calculada para todos os 18 SCM. O teste t não apresentou diferenças significativas entre os procedimentos na assimetria do Fpicoe houve uma correlação positiva significativa entre eles (r = .74). Já o segundo objetivo foi verificar a confiabilidade de um novo procedimento de determinação de impulsos gerados em cada MI no SCM. As medidas dos impulsos parciais e da assimetria do impulso mensuradas nesse novo procedimento apresentram excelente confiabilidade (CCI = .765-.963). Pode-se concluir que como não houve diferença significativa entre os valores de assimetria de Fpiconos procedimentos utilizados, e o procedimento simultâneo também permite a análise da assimetria do impulso, esse procedimento teria aplicações interessantes nas avaliações de campo.

ABSTRACT The first purpose of this study was to compare the lower limb peak force (Fpeak) asymmetry in two different procedures, simultaneous and sequential, measured in countermovement jump (CMJ) of soccer players. Three series of six CMJ were performed on two force platforms. For the sequential procedure, the 18 CMJ were divided into two blocks of nine attempts. The average of the best three CMJ of the first block was used to determine the Fpeak of a lower limb and the average of three best CMJ of the second block was used to determinate the Fpeak of the other lower limb, and then the order was inverted. In the simultaneous procedure, the mean of Fpeak values of both lower limbs was calculated for all CMJ. The t test did not present significant differences between the procedures in Fpeak asymmetry and there was a significant positive correlation between them (r = .74). The second purpose was to verify the reliability of a new impulse determination procedure for both lower limbs in the CMJ. The partial impulse and impulse asymmetry measurements obtained in this new procedure presented excellent reliability (CCI = .765-.963). It can be concluded that since there was no significant differences between the Fpeak asymmetries values between the two procedures, and the simultaneous procedures also allows the analysis of impulse asymmetry, this procedure would have interesting applications in practical evaluations.

ABSTRACT The leguminous inoculation with nodule-inducing bacteria that perform biological nitrogen fixation is a good example of an “eco-friendly agricultural practice”. Bradyrhizobium strains BR 3267 and BR 3262 are recommended for cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) inoculation in Brazil and showed remarkable responses; nevertheless neither strain was characterized at species level, which is our goal in the present work using a polyphasic approach. The strains presented the typical phenotype of Bradyrhizobium with a slow growth and a white colony on yeast extract-mannitol medium. Strain BR 3267 was more versatile in its use of carbon sources compared to BR 3262. The fatty acid composition of BR 3267 was similar to the type strain of Bradyrhizobium yuanmingense; while BR 3262 was similar to Bradyrhizobium elkanii and Bradyrhizobium pachyrhizi. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA and three housekeeping genes placed both strains within the genus Bradyrhizobium: strain BR 3267 was closest to B. yuanmingense and BR 3262 to B. pachyrhizi. Genome average nucleotide identity and DNA–DNA reassociation confirmed the genomic identification of B. yuanmingense BR 3267 and B. pachyrhizi BR 3262. The nodC and nifH gene analyses showed that strains BR 3267 and BR 3262 hold divergent symbiotic genes. In summary, the results indicate that cowpea can establish effective symbiosis with divergent bradyrhizobia isolated from Brazilian soils.

Abstract Purpose: To evaluate in vivo animal model of cardiac ischemia/reperfusion the cardioprotective activity of pancreatic lipase inhibitor of the orlistat. Methods: Adult male Wistar rats were anesthetized, placed on mechanical ventilation and underwent surgery to induce cardiac I/R by obstructing left descending coronary artery followed by reperfusion to evaluation of ventricular arrhythmias (VA), atrioventricular block (AVB) and lethality (LET) with pancreatic lipase inhibitor orlistat (ORL). At the end of reperfusion, blood samples were collected for determination of triglycerides (TG), very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), creatine kinase (CK), and creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB). Results: Treatment with ORL has been able to decrease the incidence of VA, AVB and LET. Besides that, treatment with ORL reduced serum concentrations of CK and LDL, but did not alter the levels of serum concentration of TG, VLDL and HDL. Conclusion: The reduction of ventricular arrhythmias, atrioventricular block, and lethality and serum levels of creatine kinase produced by treatment with orlistat in animal model of cardiac isquemia/reperfusion injury suggest that ORL could be used as an efficient cardioprotective therapeutic strategy to attenuate myocardial damage related to acute myocardial infarction.

ABSTRACT The strain BR 3351T (Bradyrhizobium manausense) was obtained from nodules of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp) growing in soil collected from Amazon rainforest. Furthermore, it was observed that the strain has high capacity to fix nitrogen symbiotically in symbioses with cowpea. We report here the draft genome sequence of strain BR 3351T. The information presented will be important for comparative analysis of nodulation and nitrogen fixation for diazotrophic bacteria. A draft genome with 9,145,311 bp and 62.9% of GC content was assembled in 127 scaffolds using 100 bp pair-end Illumina MiSeq system. The RAST annotation identified 8603 coding sequences, 51 RNAs genes, classified in 504 subsystems.

Abstract The strain BR 3267 is a nitrogen-fixing symbiotic bacteria isolated from soil of semi-arid area of Brazilian Northeast using cowpea as the trap plant. This strain is used as commercial inoculant for cowpea and presents high efficient in nitrogen fixation as consequence of its adaptation potential to semi-arid conditions. We report here the draft genome sequence of Bradyrhizobium sp. strain BR 3267, an elite bacterium used as inoculant for cowpea. Whole genome sequencing of BR 3267 using Illumina MiSeq sequencing technology has 55 scaffolds with a total genome size of 7,904,309 bp and C+G 63%. Annotation was added by the RAST prokaryotic genome annotation service and has shown 7314 coding sequences and 52 RNA genes.

Abstract The strain BR 3262 was isolated from nodule of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp) growing in soil of the Atlantic Forest area in Brazil and it is reported as an efficient nitrogen fixing bacterium associated to cowpea. Firstly, this strain was assigned as Bradyrhizobium elkanii, however, recently a more detailed genetic and molecular characterization has indicated it could be a Bradyrhizobium pachyrhizi species. We report here the draft genome sequence of B. pachyrhizi strain BR 3262, an elite bacterium used as inoculant for cowpea. The whole genome with 116 scaffolds, 8,965,178 bp and 63.8% of C+G content for BR 3262 was obtained using Illumina MiSeq sequencing technology. Annotation was added by the RAST prokaryotic genome annotation service and shown 8369 coding sequences, 52 RNAs genes, classified in 504 subsystems.
