ABSTRACT Aging and face sagging have many causes, and various techniques are used for treatment, including noninvasive procedures, such as focused ultrasound, which uses the principle of collagen regeneration by coagulative necrosis of the dermis layers using radiofrequency, but this procedure has complications. We reported a case of a 54-year-old female patient who complained of poor visual acuity in her right eye three days after a focused ultrasound facial aesthetic procedure, with the best visual acuity of 20/60. Biomicroscopy of the right eye revealed an acute cataract with three points of fibrosis extending from the posterior to the anterior capsule. The patient underwent phacoemulsification surgery with visual rehabilitation and improved vision of 20/20. Gender equity still needs to be fostered in society, and education can help change this scenario. This research aimed to investigate the impact of a didactic sequence involving inquiry-based science education and actions aimed at gender equity and deconstructing stereotypes in promoting more equitable participation among adolescent girls and boys. This is an action research in an extension activity, which analysed evaluative data from video recordings and questionnaires. The analysis involved immersion in the data, its categorisation and coding, and the determination of counting rules. The results indicate that inquiry based science education and jointly planned actions can help avoid sexist examples, foster examples of women's participation in Science, and enable equal participation between girls and boys, enabling them to interact and engage equally. Among the challenges identified, we have the greater difficulty in stimulating argumentation and explanation from both girls and boys and stimulating verbal participation from students who are not very participative.

La equidad de género sigue siendo un tema pendiente de fomentar en la sociedad y la educación puede contribuir a cambiar este escenario. Esta investigación se propuso investigar el impacto de una secuencia didáctica que incluía educación científica basada en la indagación y acciones dirigidas a la equidad de género y a la deconstrucción de estereotipos en la promoción de una participación más equitativa entre las niñas y los niños adolescentes. Se trata de una investigación-acción en una actividad de extensión, que analizó datos evaluativos de grabaciones de vídeo y cuestionarios. El análisis implicó la inmersión en los datos, su categorización y codificación, y la determinación de reglas de conteo. Los resultados indican que la educación científica basada en la indagación y las acciones planificadas conjuntamente pueden ayudar a evitar ejemplos sexistas, fomentar ejemplos de participación de mujeres en la Ciencia y permitir la participación igualitaria entre niñas y niños, permitiéndoles interactuar y participar en igualdad de condiciones. Entre los retos identificados, tenemos la mayor dificultad para estimular la argumentación y la explicación tanto de las niñas como de los niños y estimular la participación verbal de los/as estudiantes poco participativos/as.

A equidade de gênero ainda precisa ser fomentada na sociedade e a educação pode contribuir para mudar este cenário. Nesta pesquisa, objetivamos investigar o impacto de uma sequência didática envolvendo o Ensino de Ciências por Investigação e ações voltadas para equidade de gênero e desconstrução de estereotipias na promoção de uma participação mais equitativa entre meninas e meninos adolescentes. Trata-se de uma pesquisa-ação em uma atividade extensionista, que analisou dados avaliativos proveninentes de videogravações e questionários. A análise envolveu a imersão nos dados, sua categorização e codificação e a determinação de regras de contagem. Os resultados apontam que o Ensino de Ciências por Investigação e as ações conjuntamente planejadas podem ajudar a evitar exemplos sexistas, fomentar exemplos da participação das mulheres nas Ciências e possibilitar a equidade de participação entre meninas e meninos possibilitando-lhes interação e engajamentos equitativos. Entre os desafios identificados temos: a maior dificuldade de estimular a argumentação e a explicação tanto de meninas como de meninos, e estimular a participação verbal dos alunas/os pouco participativas/os.

Abstract International interaction as a result of globalization generates an impulse between the supply and demand of goods. However, there are items that limit access to products under the premise of protecting the national industry and balancing the economy. These aspects are known as export barriers. Although in 2014 there was a registry of 164 exporting companies in the state of Aguascalientes, the reasons why the companies decided not to export or exported sporadically were not identified. Given this situation, the study is presented that analyzes whether the legal barrier variables impact the export process of hydrocalid companies. An instrument is applied to exporting companies where it is statistically proven that the group of legal barriers does have a significant impact, generating this similarity of impact in previous studies of export barriers according to the literature. It is recommended to expand the sample size of future analysis, include current innovation variables derived from the latest events that impacted international trade such as COVID-19, in addition to generating a survey that can be used as a basis for export studies.

Resumen La globalización ha generado una interacción internacional que impulsa tanto la oferta como la demanda de mercancías. Sin embargo, ciertos sectores, con base en el concepto barreras a la exportación, imponen restricciones para proteger la industria nacional y equilibrar la economía. Aunque en 2014 se registraron 164 empresas exportadoras en el estado de Aguascalientes, no se han identificado las razones por las cuales algunas de ellas optaron por no exportar o lo hicieron de forma esporádica. Ante esta situación, surge el presente estudio con el fin de analizar si las barreras legales afectaron el proceso de exportación de las empresas en dicha región. Para ello, se ha aplicado un instrumento a empresas exportadoras que permitió demostrar estadísticamente que las barreras legales tienen un impacto significativo, lo cual concuerda con hallazgos similares de estudios previos. Para futuros trabajos se recomienda ampliar el tamaño de la muestra e incorporar variables actuales de innovación, especialmente aquellas derivadas de eventos recientes que hayan impactado el comercio internacional, como la pandemia de covid-19. Además, sería beneficioso desarrollar una encuesta que pueda servir como base para futuros estudios sobre exportación.

Resumo A globalização gerou uma interacção internacional que impulsiona tanto a oferta como a procura de bens. Contudo, determinados setores, baseados no conceito de barreiras à exportação, impõem restrições para proteger a indústria nacional e equilibrar a economia. Embora em 2014 estivessem registradas 164 empresas exportadoras no estado de Aguascalientes, não foram identificadas as razões pelas quais algumas delas optaram por não exportar ou o fizeram esporadicamente. Diante desta situação, o presente estudo surge com o objetivo de analisar se as barreiras legais afetaram o processo de exportação das empresas da referida região. Para tal, foi aplicado às empresas exportadoras um instrumento que nos permitiu demonstrar estatisticamente que as barreiras legais têm um impacto significativo, o que está de acordo com conclusões semelhantes de estudos anteriores. Para trabalhos futuros, recomenda-se ampliar o tamanho da amostra e incorporar variáveis de inovação atuais, especialmente aquelas derivadas de eventos recentes que impactaram o comércio internacional, como a pandemia de covid-19. Além disso, seria benéfico desenvolver um inquérito que pudesse servir de base para futuros estudos de exportação.

RESUMEN La producción de cuyes forma parte de la ancestralidad de los países andinos, por el aporte socioeconómico y a la seguridad alimentaria. Con el objetivo de evaluar el efecto de la procedencia de estos animales en los parámetros fenotípicos, morfométricos y productivos destinados a la reproducción, se seleccionaron 30 cuyes de diferentes procedencias, divididos en grupos de 10 animales en un diseño completamente al azar. El experimento se desarrolló en la Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi, Ecuador. Se evaluaron variables morfométricas, fenotípicas y productivas. Los resultados mostraron que los animales procedentes de la Granja Matilde alcanzaron los mayores perímetros torácico con 16,40 cm, para el largo del total del cuerpo fueron mayores los cuyes procedentes de cuerpo del Chimborazo. Por su parte, el pelaje con mayor representación fue el de tipo 1. Para los indicadores productivos los mayores pesos (667,20 g) los reflejaron los animales procedentes de Cotopaxi, sin diferencias respecto a los del Chimborazo (665,4 g). La mejor conversión la mostraron los cuyes originarios del Chimborazo con 3,71. Se concluyó que las características morfométricas variaron en dependencia de la zona de procedencia de los animales. Las mayores diferencias se apreciaron para el perímetro torácico y el largo total del cuerpo. Así, el tipo de pelaje, la cantidad de miembros y la presencia de remolinos mostraron variabilidad según la zona de origen. Los indicadores productivos se influenciaron por la procedencia de los animales; el mejor comportamiento lo mostró de forma general la localidad del Chimborazo.

ABSTRACT The production of guinea pigs is part of the ancestry of Andean countries due to its socioeconomic contribution and its role in food security. With the aim of evaluating the effect of the origin of these animals on the phenotypic, morphometric, and productive parameters intended for reproduction. Thirty guinea pigs from different origins were selected and divided into groups of 10 animals in a completely randomized design. The experiment was conducted at the Technical University of Cotopaxi, Ecuador. Morphometric, phenotypic, and productive variables were evaluated. The results showed that the animals from Granja Matilde achieved the highest thoracic perimeters with 16.40 cm, while the guinea pigs from Chimborazo had the greatest total body length. Additionally, the most common type of fur was type 1. For the productive indicators, the highest weights (667.20 g) were observed in the animals from Cotopaxi, with no significant differences compared to those from Chimborazo (665.4 g). The best feed conversion was shown by the guinea pigs from Chimborazo with a ratio of 3.71. It was concluded that the morphometric characteristics varied depending on the origin of the animals. The greatest differences were observed in the thoracic perimeter and total body length. Likewise, the type of fur, the number of limbs, and the presence of swirls showed variability depending on the region of origin. The productive indicators were influenced by the origin of the animals; overall, the best performance was shown by the locality of Chimborazo.

ABSTRACT Purpose: To compare biochemical recurrence, sexual potency and urinary continence outcomes of ablative therapy and radical treatment (radical prostatectomy or radiotherapy with androgen deprivation therapy). Material and methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis followed the PRISMA guidelines were performed. We searched MEDLINE/PubMed. Biochemical recurrence at three and five years; incontinence rate (patients who used one pad or more) and erectile dysfunction rate at 12 and 36 months (patients who did not have sufficient erection to achieve sexual intercourse) were evaluated. The Mantel-Haenszel method was applied to estimate the pooled risk difference (RD) in the individual studies for categorical variables. All results were presented as 95% confidence intervals (95%CI). Random effects models were used regardless of the level of heterogeneity (I²). (PROSPERO CRD42022296998). Results: Eight studies comprising 2,677 men with prostate cancer were included. There was no difference in biochemical recurrence between ablative and radical treatments. We observed the same biochemical recurrence between ablative therapy and radical treatment within five years (19.3% vs. 16.8%, respectively; RD 0.07; 95%CI=-0.05, 0.19; I2=68.2%; P=0.08) and continence rate at 12 months (9.2% vs. 31.8%, respectively; RD −0.13; 95%CI, −0.27, 0.01; I2=89%; P=0.32). When focal treatment was analyzed alone, two studies with 582 patients found higher erectile function at 12 months in the ablative therapy group than in the radical treatment (88.9% vs. 30.8%, respectively; RD −0.45; 95%CI −0.84, −0.05; I2=93%; P=0.03). ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Specific types of violence such as intimate partner sexual violence and intimate partner homicide occur more frequently in rural areas. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to systematically review the literature on the knowledge and attitudes of rural healthcare providers regarding cases of domestic violence against women. DESIGN AND SETTING: Systematic review developed at Universidade Federal de Uberlândia. METHODS: We conducted an electronic search of six databases, which only included observational studies, regardless of the year, language, or country of publication, except for studies that used secondary data and were exclusively qualitative. Two reviewers performed the selection, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment using a specific Joanna Briggs Institute tool. RESULTS: Six studies met the inclusion criteria. All the studies had a low risk of bias. Approximately 38% of these professionals identified injuries caused by violence in patients. When asked about knowing the correct attitude to take in cases of confirmed violence, between 12% and 64% of rural healthcare providers answered positively; most of them would refer to specialized institutions and promote victim empowerment and counseling. The number of professionals with an educational background in the field ranged from 16% to 98%. CONCLUSIONS: The evident disparity across studies shows that some professionals have suboptimal knowledge and require training to adopt the correct attitude when identifying female victims of domestic violence in clinical practice. Resumen: La ingesta excesiva de sodio es uno de los principales problemas de salud pública en todo el mundo, y la identificación de las fuentes alimentarias y tendencias temporales en su consumo son esenciales para desarrollar políticas efectivas de reducción de sodio. Este estudio tiene como objetivo actualizar las estimaciones de la ingesta de sodio y sus fuentes alimentarias en Brasil según el sistema de clasificación NOVA. Los registros de compras de alimentos en el período de 7 días de familias de las Encuestas de Presupuestos Familiares de Brasil de 2002-2003, 2008-2009 y 2017-2018 se convirtieron en nutrientes utilizando tablas de composición de alimentos. La disponibilidad media se estimó en 2.000kcal/día. El promedio diario de sodio disponible para el consumo en los hogares brasileños aumentó de 3,9 a 4,7g por 2.000kcal, entre 2002-2003 y 2017-2018, más del doble de los niveles de ingesta recomendados de este nutriente. Abstract: Excessive sodium intake is a major global public health issue and the identification of dietary sources and temporal trends in its consumption are a key to effective sodium reduction policies. This study aims to update estimates of sodium intake and its dietary sources in Brazil according to the NOVA food classification system. Abstract This article aimed to map therapeutic itineraries in health care within rural Quilombola communities in the north of Minas Gerais, Brazil. This is a section of a qualitative research conducted in six visited communities. The data was collected through 18 individual interviews, analyzed using the theoretical-methodological framework of Therapeutic Itineraries, and organized into three empirical themes. The narratives allowed for understanding the paths taken in health care by the Quilombola population, identifying the components of the popular subsystem (natural resources, the use of teas and home remedies), the family subsystem (transmission of knowledge and cultural heritage of care), and the professional subsystem (hospital level, medical care, primary and specialized attention). The difficulties of access are not only due to geographical distances, but also broader aspects of social determination, such as institutional racism, low availability of services, the need for payment for transportation and medical procedures. In this sense, it is necessary to have an approach and interventions from public policies to address ethnic-racial, economic, and access inequalities in health care services.

Resumo Este artigo teve como objetivo mapear os itinerários terapêuticos no cuidado em saúde em comunidades quilombolas rurais no norte de Minas Gerais, Brasil. Trata-se de um recorte de uma pesquisa qualitativa realizada em seis comunidades visitadas. Os dados foram produzidos por meio de 18 entrevistas individuais, analisados pelo referencial teórico-metodológico dos itinerários terapêuticos e organizados em três temas empíricos. As narrativas permitiram a compreensão dos percursos trilhados no cuidado em saúde pela população quilombola, a identificação dos componentes do subsistema popular (recursos naturais, o uso de chás e remédios caseiros), do subsistema familiar (transmissão de conhecimentos e herança cultural de cuidados), e do subsistema profissional (nível hospitalar, cuidados médicos, atenção primária e especializada). As dificuldades de acesso não decorrem apenas das distâncias geográficas, envolvem aspectos mais amplos da determinação social, como o racismo institucional, a baixa oferta de serviços, a necessidade de pagamento para deslocamentos e procedimentos médicos. Nesse sentido, fazem-se necessárias uma abordagem e intervenções das políticas públicas frente às desigualdades étnico-raciais, econômicas e de acesso aos serviços de cuidado em saúde.

Resumen: La ingesta excesiva de sodio es uno de los principales problemas de salud pública en todo el mundo, y la identificación de las fuentes alimentarias y tendencias temporales en su consumo son esenciales para desarrollar políticas efectivas de reducción de sodio. Este estudio tiene como objetivo actualizar las estimaciones de la ingesta de sodio y sus fuentes alimentarias en Brasil según el sistema de clasificación NOVA. Los registros de compras de alimentos en el período de 7 días de familias de las Encuestas de Presupuestos Familiares de Brasil de 2002-2003, 2008-2009 y 2017-2018 se convirtieron en nutrientes utilizando tablas de composición de alimentos. La disponibilidad media se estimó en 2.000kcal/día. El promedio diario de sodio disponible para el consumo en los hogares brasileños aumentó de 3,9 a 4,7g por 2.000kcal, entre 2002-2003 y 2017-2018, más del doble de los niveles de ingesta recomendados de este nutriente. RESUMO O mogno africano (Khaya grandifoliola) é uma espécie arbórea que vem ganhando espaço no mercado florestal, apresentando utilidade nas mais diversas utilizações, principalmente em território brasileiro, onde é o principal substituto da madeira do mogno brasileiro. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma análise de trilha entre a resposta da solução nutritiva ao tratamento com cádmio e as demais variáveis e atributos estudados: aminoácido, nitrato, proteína, amônio, redutase, IDM, cádmio. O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação. A princípio, as mudas foram habituadas para posteriormente serem levadas ao tratamento, onde a aplicabilidade se deu pelo cloreto de cádmio monohidratado (CdCl 2.H2O) de acordo com a solução nutritiva. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado (DIC), misturado em cinco concentrações (0; 10; 20; 30 e 40 mg L-1) com sete repetições, totalizando 35 unidades experimentais. Para realizar o exame comparativo, os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância, seguida de análise de regressão. A análise de trilha permitiu verificar diretamente que doses crescentes de tratamento com Cádmio (CAR) refletiram em correlação negativa com o teor de aminoácidos (TAA) nas raízes das plantas de mogno. O estresse abiótico, que foi a exposição a um produto químico tóxico (cádmio), diminuiu, neste caso, a capacidade das plantas de sintetizar aminoácidos. O aumento das doses de tratamento com cádmio (CAL) refletiu em correlação negativa com o teor de proteína na folha (PRL) das plantas de mogno. Evidentemente, quanto maior a concentração de cádmio, maiores serão os danos aos sistemas metabólicos do mogno. Com este estudo, evidenciamos que excesso de cádmio no solo afeta o desenvolvimento de mudas de espécies florestais como o mogno. ABSTRACT African mahogany (Khaya grandifoliola) is a tree species that has gained space in the forestry market, presenting utility in a wide range of uses, especially in Brazilian territory, where it is the main substitute for Brazilian mahogany wood. The objective of this work was to perform a path analysis between the response of nutrient solution to cadmium treatment and the other variables and attributes studied: amino acid, nitrate, protein, ammonium, reductase, IDM, cadmium. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse. At first, seedlings were habituated to be later taken to the treatment, where the applicability was given by cadmium chloride monohydrate (CdCl 2.H2O) according to the nutrient solution. The experimental design was completely randomized (DIC), mixed in five concentrations (0; 10; 20; 30 and 40 mg L-1) with seven replications, totaling 35 experimental units. To perform the comparative examination, the data were exposed to the analysis of variance, followed by regression analysis. The path analysis allowed to directly verify that increasing doses of treatment with Cadmium (CAR) reflected in a negative correlation with the amino acid content (AAR) in the roots of mahogany plants. Resumo Este artigo teve como objetivo mapear os itinerários terapêuticos no cuidado em saúde em comunidades quilombolas rurais no norte de Minas Gerais, Brasil. Trata-se de um recorte de uma pesquisa qualitativa realizada em seis comunidades visitadas. Os dados foram produzidos por meio de 18 entrevistas individuais, analisados pelo referencial teórico-metodológico dos itinerários terapêuticos e organizados em três temas empíricos. As narrativas permitiram a compreensão dos percursos trilhados no cuidado em saúde pela população quilombola, a identificação dos componentes do subsistema popular (recursos naturais, o uso de chás e remédios caseiros), do subsistema familiar (transmissão de conhecimentos e herança cultural de cuidados), e do subsistema profissional (nível hospitalar, cuidados médicos, atenção primária e especializada). Abstract This article aimed to map therapeutic itineraries in health care within rural Quilombola communities in the north of Minas Gerais, Brazil. This is a section of a qualitative research conducted in six visited communities. The data was collected through 18 individual interviews, analyzed using the theoretical-methodological framework of Therapeutic Itineraries, and organized into three empirical themes. The narratives allowed for understanding the paths taken in health care by the Quilombola population, identifying the components of the popular subsystem (natural resources, the use of teas and home remedies), the family subsystem (transmission of knowledge and cultural heritage of care), and the professional subsystem (hospital level, medical care, primary and specialized attention). The difficulties of access are not only due to geographical distances, but also broader aspects of social determination, such as institutional racism, low availability of services, the need for payment for transportation and medical procedures. RESUMO Contexto: Nas últimas décadas, a ecoendoscopia evoluiu de uma ferramenta diagnóstica para uma plataforma para diversas intervenções terapêuticas. Vários avanços tecnológicos surgiram desde o último Consenso Brasileiro, demandando uma revisão e atualização das recomendações baseadas nas melhores evidências científicas. Métodos: Um grupo de 32 ecoendoscopistas renomados selecionou oito tópicos relevantes para serem discutidos a fim de gerar questões clínicas. Em seguida, foi realizada uma revisão da literatura para responder a essas perguntas com base nas evidências mais atualizadas. ABSTRACT Background: In the past decades, endoscopic ultrasound has developed from a diagnostic tool to a platform for many therapeutic interventions. Various technological advancements have emerged since the last Brazilian Consensus, demanding a review and update of the recommendations based on the best scientific evidence. Methods: A group of 32 renowned echoendoscopists selected eight relevant topics to be discussed to generate clinical questions. After that, a literature review was conducted to answer these questions based on the most updated evidence. Results: Thirty-three statements were formulated and voted on by the experts to reach a consensus. The Oxford System was used to grade the level of evidence. ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: The risk of death due to tuberculosis (TB) in Brazil is high and strongly related to living conditions (LC). However, epidemiological studies investigating changes in LC and their impact on TB are lacking. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the impact of LC on TB mortality in Brazil. DESIGN AND SETTING: This ecological study, using panel data on spatial and temporal aggregates, was conducted in 1,614 municipalities between 2002 and 2015. METHODS: Data were collected from the Mortality Information System and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. The proxy variable used for LC was the Urban Health Index (UHI). Negative binomial regression models were used to estimate the effect of the UHI on TB mortality rate. Attributable risk (AR) was used as an impact measure. RESULTS: From 2002 to 2015, TB mortality rate decreased by 23.5%, and LC improved. The continuous model analysis resulted in an RR = 0.89 (95%CI = 0.82–0.96), so the AR was −12.3%. The categorized model showed an effect of 0.92 (95%CI = 0.83–0.95) in municipalities with intermediate LC and of 0.83 (95%CI = 0.82–0.91) in those with low LC, representing an AR for TB mortality of −8.7% and −20.5%, respectively. Abstract Background Local anesthetic puncture is often related to the experience of pain. This study aimed to systematically analyze the literature on changes in pain perception during the anesthetic puncture of dental local anesthesia after Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT). Material and methods An electronic search was performed in eight primary databases (Embase, LILACS, BBO, LIVIVO, MedLine via PubMed, SciELO, Scopus, and Web of Science) and three additional ones (EASY, Google Scholar, and OATD) to partially capture the “gray literature”. The PICO strategy was used to identify randomized clinical trials evaluating the analgesic effect of PBMT in the anesthetic puncture site of dental local anesthesia compared to placebo or control groups, without restrictions on publication language and year. Two reviewers extracted the data and assessed the individual risk of bias of the eligible studies using the Cochrane Collaboration Risk of Bias Tool version 2.0. Results The electronic search found 3,485 records, of which eight met the eligibility criteria and were included in the qualitative synthesis. The studies were published from 2011 to 2022. None of the included studies had a low risk of bias. PBMT groups showed no significant difference in pain scores compared to placebo and control groups of most studies. ABSTRACT Purpose: To evaluate the effects on peripheral neural regeneration of the end-to-side embracing repair technique compared to the autograft repair technique in Wistar rats. Methods: Fifteen male Wistar rats were divided into three groups with five animals each: denervated group (GD), autograft group (GA), and embracing group (EG). For the evaluation, the grasping test, electroneuromyography (ENMG), and muscle weight assessment were used. Results: Muscle weight assessment and ENMG did not show significant neural regeneration at the end of 12 weeks in the DG and GE groups, but only in GA. The grasping test showed an increase in strength between the surgery and the fourth week in all groups, and only the GA maintained this trend until the 12th week. Conclusions: The present study indicates that the neural regeneration observed in the end-to-side embracing neurorrhaphy technique, in the repair of segmental neural loss, is inferior to autograft repair in Wistar rats.
